4-0 out of 5 stars A "rewarding" racing experience
I'm not a Ford fan but I really enjoy this game. There are three things that I like: First, it rewards you for winning races and challenges. When you first pop the game in you have limited cars/tracks to choose until you earn them! The second thing I think is pretty cool is actually the sound...when you go through tunnels the echo is wild, when you skid on dirt you hear it like your ear is out the window!Third, tons of variety in regards to tracks, cars, and scenarios from standard race to stock car/NASCAR theme to driving skills challenge courses. One last note...I picked up mine in the "bargain" bin for 9.99 but don't let the low price fool you it's worth full price! One caution...if you crave "true to life" as possible racing...may want to pass on this one as it's really not obsessed with minute detail more on gameplay and variety.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes its Ford racing...wish it were Chevy! But its great!
WE purchased this game for our little boy because he loves his Papaws Ford truck, and there is a truck that looks just like it in this game so this was a BIG HIT when he played it! Its really a lot of fun, even though my husband and I prefer if it would have been Chevy racing!Too bad we have'nt seen a Chevy racing game yet!Anyhow- its great and I would highly recommend this game. Its one that you should purchase.2 player mode is the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC ! ! !Much better than I expected
FORD RACING 2 (XBOX)...WOW! This game is so much better than I expected. There's no slow down, the graphics are fantastic and it's fast, man is it fast! The since of speed is amazing. If for no other reason, you'll love this game just for it's since of speed alone.
The cars handle differently, but all seem to have a good since of traction and, in case I forgot to mention, speed. SPEED! SPEED! SPEED!
It's not perfect. There are only 2 views, 3rd person(behind the car) and 1st person(bumper view). I really would have liked a cockpit view(inside the car), but you can't have everything. There's also not alot of car adjusting/tweaking. So there are a couple of faults. But for it's price, it just can't be beat.
FORD RACING 2 is easily one of the fastest and toughest racers I've played on the XBOX to date(10-15-04). Where it lacks in adjusting and tweaking, it makes up for in fantastic graphics and super-fast racing SPEED!
A MUST FOR ANY RACING FAN.

3-0 out of 5 stars Have You Seen Ford Lately?
I couldn't help but shake the feeling that Ford Racing 2 is build Ford tough. Much like the line of cars and trucks the game focuses on, the game is nicely priced and an acceptable means of gaming. It's not going to impress anyone but it's not going to kill anyone either.

The game looks surprisingly good and despite claims to the contrary on the box, it supports 480p. The cars also look solid, but no matter how hard you smash 'em you can't get a dent anywhere. The real problem with this game is in the control, structure, and depth. The control feels like driving a boat down a channel and never manages to have the powerful feeling that every great racer has. The structure isn't terrible, it's just not very good...same goes for depth and the game as a whole.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shockingly Tasty!
Expecting a budget title for a budget price I picked this one up along with a few other XBOX racers. What a pleasant surprise!

Developer Razorworks is the English studioe behind the excellent Total Immersion Racing of a couple years back and they have obviously got some skills when it comes to racing games. This title starts of with a weak subject and gives it the deluxe treatment.

Virtually every car Ford has ever made that didn't suck is here, along with a great many concept cars. Classics are in abundance all modelled very, very well. They look fabulous thanks to a state-of-the-art graphics engine on the NVidia hardware and the bright, over saturated colors fit the feel perfectly.

The sound is spot on too. The Mustang's 289 V-8 sounds exactly as I remember mine, only without the banging sound when mine blew up. The soundTRACK is all original and also surprisingly good. It's as though someone gave Weezer and Green Day testosterone shots.

The world is filled with abient animations that add to but don't distract from the immersion very much like TDK Mediactive's Mercedes World Racing. A huge variety of tracks is here with every type of racing from scenic rural highway to city streets and dirt tracks. Stock car ovals and rally type runs round out a staggering variety.

Every type of racing is included as well. The standard duel, time attack and such is here but also challenges such as cone gates, elimination, second off, and such add more of that thing this game has in spades... VARIETY.

The total quality of this game and depth of play value make it very much worth your hard earned ducats and I would recommend it ahead of the disappointing Midnight Club II, and execrable Need For Speed Underground.

No XBOX Live online play but there is support for posting your times and scores. Minimal but welcome nonetheless. No game which doesn't support Live is getting purchased in the new year (take note EA!) by this gamer. Head to head racing is split screen for 2 players only with no support for system link. Also HDTV 480p is NOT supported. Having said that it still looks very, very nice on an HDTV LCD display. Some titles have ugly artifacting when rendered on a fixed resoultion display, such as Sega GT 2002. Custom soundtracks are supported but the original music is such a good fit I haven't felt the urge to play my usual driving tune mix of Satriani and Meshuggeh. Nothing like the annoying gangsta rap crud that fills some other recent racing games.

Despite the missing features I am very pleased by this game and have spent many, many hours in enjoyable tension racing Mustangs, Gran Torino's and T-Birds by the sea. The driving physics engine is a credit to good design. Both a simple, fun 'Normal' mode and a meatier 'Advanced' model are available. The 'Advanced' is simulation style like say, Apex or Rallisport Challenge. The Normal mode is very forgiving and plays a lot like the excellent arcade racer Burnout 2.

You just can't go wrong with this level of play value, depth and quality for this price point. I'm buying a couple more copies to give for Chritmas presents. And no, I am not an Empire Interactive stockholder. :} From now on anything developer Razorworks makes is getting bought even if it is Mary-Kate and Ashley Practice Parking. These boys just have gotten it all right. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A pretty good game overall.
Pros:
-fun gameplay
-great creat a player feature
-great graphics
-good songs
-great commentary

Cons:
-franchise mode sucks!!!!(you can finish all 20 years in a day)
-no trade a player feature (you are stuck with all of the old rosters and cannot even change the lineup)

overall, this game is just okay, but I am sure that there are better games out there

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun But Easy...
I know this is kind of late to write about All-Star Baseball 2005. When it first came out back in March, I thought it would have no competion. Past ASB games had ruled the baseball video game world, and I thought this game would rock.

The first thing that is good with it is all the featurettes. The TWIB interview thing is really cool, and the whole baseball card collecting thing is great. The situations are cool and the stadium tour thing is cool. Overall, the game's features are good.

As for gameplay and graphics, that is why it is not MVP Baseball 2004. The game is way too easy. I was playing with the Mets and Danny Garcia was hitting .450. I had a winning record playing as the Pittsburgh Pirates. The only way I kept up with it was putting it on legend and taking every helper off (pitch aid, strike zone). The graphics though, it seemed that MVP has the best graphics around and this can't stack up.

The new camera modes are cool, especially the Broadcast camera; it actually looks like you are watching a real game. The fielder cam was pretty good, but if they can fix it up next year, it will rise to the top.

The most impressive thing about the game is the stadiums and the crowd detail. The stadiums looked identical to the real thing. The fake advertisements made it feel like you were at the stadium. Shea Stadium even had the ribbon around the Twin Towers on the top of the scoreboard. The old stadiums are great. If you could mash together MVP Baseball's graphics and gameplay with ASB's stadiums and franchise mode, you would have one helluva game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game.
In my eyes there has never been a good All Star Baseball game untill 05. The Franchise is very nice and so is the expansion teams. Pickup Games are very fun. The movments are very real. Xbox live is very fun. The stadiums are very very real. There is trivia between innings. I highly highly reccomend this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing
this game is too easy. the only challenge is if u put it on legend and hit without the hitter aid and strike zone besides that any moron could hit the ball.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another All-Star Baseball game
The first person view is nice, but it is almost impossible to find the baseball, or field at all. This was almost worse than it's counter=part All-Star Baseball 2004! Batting is terrible, and you have almost no control of where your pitcher throws the ball, that's usally the best part of the game. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good game. Live 05 , 04 are mush better. Not worth it
I think this game was an okay game. It will be better if they were in allstar challenge games like dunking or 3 point shootout. The graphics are pretty good. But Nba live is better because everyshot goes in in Nba inside drive and on live it doesnt so it seems more realistic.

5-0 out of 5 stars NBA Inside Drive 2004
This is the best, most realistic basketball game I have ever played. It took a little bit to get used to it, but when you do, it is incredible.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST of the Best
This game rocks!! My absolute favorite part is that you control the game. That's right: YOU!!!!!! Don't like your favorite player's rating? That's perfectly all right, because you can change the rating. There is a general manager option on the menu. Select that and go to edit/delete players. Choose anyone YOU want and change that person's rating. It's awesome!!!!! The graphics are just totally great and the only thing I don't like is that the announcers suck.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only basketball game I will play!
I was a big fan of NBA 2k series and thought that would continue when the ESPN games came out. But being that this is an xbox exclusive I went with this and I can't believe how much better this game is than all the rest! NBA Live series I never liked and ESPN just seems outdated to me. This game is not repetitive at all! My team plays like my team, the teams I play against play like that team and my players play like they should! Dunks are always different, real time coaching is a great and I love CREATE YOUR OWN PLAYER! After you create your player put him on your favorite team and play! I don't know how any Xbox owner could get NBA Live or ESPN over Inside Drive! The only downfalls of the game is defense isnt as easy to play as offense and Shaq is on the cover, other than that the best NBA game out now! GET IT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best game this year.
This game is all around great, except for a couple of flaws.
I't should have a better trade option, rookies should have been rated a little higher, speed should have been a little faster. Over all this game is graphicaly the best. Also player contact is always a plus and the post moves are awesome.NOW WE NEED NCAA INSIDE DRIVE! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Alright for $15.
It's not Need For Speed Underground 2 but what do you expect. You get what you pay for. I like that it has custom soundtracks and good graphics but the cars and trucks don't turn very good. It has 55 cars/trucks and 26 tracks. It does not have a in car dash view. The replays are fun to watch. The fact is it's a arcade racing game and if thats what you like then I recommend for you to pick it up. If you like a sim racing game then wait for Forza Motorsport that comes out in May. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Realistic? yeah... right
Where do I begin... The speed burst is a joke, even with the cheat{CAFFEINE} which is supposedly unlimited speed burst, your player still manages to get tired quick and I mean quick(2 meters and your player is huffing and buffing.. you call that realistic?). When your up against the computer, amazingly the computer ALWAYS gets its checks, yet, whenever I'm on defense and in position to check the computer, it only works sometimes. How bunch of crap is that? LOADS! Okay back to the speed burst, so how bad is the speed burst? get this..you could be Mike Modano or Paul Kariya and get open ice and have everybody else way way way behind you, in other words get a breakaway. Now in reality, Mike or Paul are gone given the chance but surprisingly in this game, Mike or Paul gets caught up by a defensemen! are you kidding me!!? a defensemen has such a blast of a speed, you could be Joe Sakic or Pavel Pure or Mats Sundin and that wouldn't matter because your going to get caught and likely checked even if your breakaway is huge. The gap would close in a second. The button layout isn't change-able and awkward at first. Overall your good mood would change to a bad one when you play this game. Best way to sum it up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!!!!!!!
Great game with awesome gameplay , graphics, and realistic players.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why bother...
First off, to the reviewer who recommends this title over NHL 2004. Wow. That's all I'm saying there. You must hate hockey. Now for those of you who would even think or consider buying this troubled title I have some facts to get out there. There are supposed to be over 700 motion captured animations in the game. Where did they all go? The animations are the same over and over again. The "revolutionary" backwards skate button - a completely useless feature that mearly slows your player down. The goalies, don't even get me started. They move to the position of your shot before you've even ripped it off of your stick. Some of the save animations are nice, I'll give this game that and only that. The graphics are nice but somewhat bulky and almost borderline cartoony. The crowds are louds which is a good thing. There is no franchise mode. There is only an exibition mode and season mode. No collectibles, no unlockables, no concept of team managment outside the norms (trade, create). This game is the exact reason XSN Sports is taking a year off. They have a LOT to work on. If you even like hockey half as much as I do - Do yourself a favor and grab either NHL 2004 or ESPN NHL. And for those of you who may think this is a good beginners title to try - Set one of the two games I mentioned (NHL 2004 or ESPN NHL) at Rookie, you'll do just fine.

4-0 out of 5 stars A average- highly decent game
I got NHL Rivals 2004 a couple of months ago. I found a couple of great ideas that no one has thought about yet. I also found incredibly terrible flaws in gameplay.
Pros: Nice animated crowd, awesome commentary, very customizable settings
Cons: Music doesnt play frequently enough, not enough different music files, player stats are screwed up,(brett hull is a 93 buddy), when you body check someone else the hit looks the same each time, overall choppy gameplay
Dont be turned off by the other reviews. Competition for hockey games is low, this causes poor products. I recommend this game for anyone who is not easily aggravated and wants to play a decent hockey game. Also I would recommend Rivals over Nhl 2004. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Polish, shmallish
SNK Vs Capcom: Chaos Live, is a game you can enjoy as long as you don't have anything to do. The reason for thia is, your going to be spending at least 1 hour a day, try to press the right directional button for Ryu's "Shuruken" or whatever it is, or trying to beat the frustrating AI on beggining difficulty, which is as if not harder than the very hard difficulty on DOA 3. But if you can get real good at one character (Mine is Kasumi, daughter of Todo from the Art of Fighting series, which are better games.) then you may actually have fun. Yes, if they tone down the difficulty, add more characters, and actually add a plot, then this game could be a hit. But it isn't, so 3 stars it is.

2-0 out of 5 stars A disgrace to fighting games.
After enjoying Capcom vs SNK 2 EO a year ago, I was excited when I heard the news of SNK vs Capcom coming out. SNK gets very little respect these days, and I knew I'd be buying this for the sake of at least showing some support for the company. Well, last summer I got to play a short demo of this and I was disappointed in every aspect. The graphics were terrible, music was even worse, gameplay suffered from glitches, and the character selection was very small compared to CvsS2EO's. Where that actually was Capcom and SNK characters, this is actually more like King of Fighters vs Street Fighter. But, this was just a demo, and surely the final product would be a lot better, right? No. In fact, I would've been better off just keeping the demo disc around and not wasting space on my shelf with this..."game".

I'm sure you all know how the game plays and handles if you've ever played a Street Fighter or King of Fighters game before. If not, it's not that complicated. You select a fighter from a select few, and go through the game, taking on several opponents before it's over. If this is your first time on a fighting game, it could take 30 minutes or a little more. For us experienced fighter gamers, it can take as little as 8 minutes. But that's if the glitches don't...or do get in the way. There were so many times that I lost a match by an unfair advantage the CPU had. One is taken straight from that horrid SF:AC on ps2, where Ken does his flaming Dragon Punch from halfway accross the screen, and manages to hit me. I had no clue if this was a sick joke, or a cheating CPU. Later on, while I was playing as Akuma, I did the 2-hit downward strike punch...to Shin Akuma while he was teleporting behind me, and I was facing the opposite direction. It contacted for the full 2 hits. What, the hell. Though, I didn't argue in that case, because Shin Akuma here is much harder than that sissy from CvsS2EO ever was. The difficulty of the game varies, depending on those glitches I mentioned. Sometimes the CPU will just dominate the match, and other times, it just kinda stands around, waiting for you to win the match. Another con here is that there are no secret characters to win. All you have to do is hold the right trigger on any fighterthe character selection menu to see if a "hidden" one shows up. I laughed a little to find out that the Mars People from the Metal Slug series were in here.

Most fighting games have a couple of cool modes that add replay to them. Not here. You get Arcade, Survival, VS and Live play. Arcade's the basic mode we all know, Survival...same story, VS...yet again, and Live speaks for itself. Live is the main focus of the game here, what with it being in the game's title and all. It has a pretty strong following from what I've heard on various message boards, but nowhere near as strong as Capcom vs SNK 2 EO does. I know I'm comparing the two a lot here, but you have to understand that SvsC is actually a step down from the previous great installment. Why this one took so long to port over is beyond me. A funny trivia bit is that on the demo, Chun-Li's breasts bounced, but Mai's didn't. Which is against all that she stood for in every other SNK fighting game. Originally, turning the Xbox's setting to Japanese would have the bouncing back on, and put in the blood as well. Luckily, they ditched this, and Mai retains her bouncing glory by default. As much as I bash the game, I'll give it 2 stars overall, and 4 for fun just to be nice. Any game where I can have Akuma say an old British phrase of offense before a fight nets an extra star in the fun category if only because it's so out of character, and hilarious to see that next to his angry face.

The graphics are a horrible shame. They look about first-generation Genesis quality. While the animations on the sprites are good, the way they look is atrocious. Guile's hair is massive, Sagat's shoulders have shoulders, Zeo looks like Mickey Mouse, and all the sprites have jagged lines on them. Why can't SNK upgrade their sprites just once? Even the pause menu in-game is a sham. It's just white text with a few options listed. No actual menu box that pops up. At least Capcom had the decency to touch things up a little in Capcom vs SNK 2 EO. I'd almost wished for a Capcom vs SNK 3 over this because of how shoddy the production values were. Yeah, I know graphics don't make the game, but they shouldn't make the game worse. I could only play looking at these images for so long before just turning it off. Also, the backgrounds have little animations to them. And they're very limited. More than CvsS2EO's were. Off the top of my head, I can only think of 6 backgrounds here. Not good at all. As a side note, the box art and instruction booklet are much better than the last game's were. The text on the back of the case doesn't change size every other word, and the booklet actually lists the fighters and gives little profiles on them.

The music...oh lordy. We have an even bigger problem here. Did you ever play the Sega Smash Pack on Dreamcast? Yeah, remember how horrible the emulated 16-bit music sounded on cd? Well that sounded like an angel compared to this mess. There's constant fuzz in the tracks, most of it sounds like it was done on a midi keyboard, and the music for each stage doesn't fit. And there's this just plain benal track that plays right before the match, when you and your opponent are conversing. If there were any one Xbox game that needed the custom soundtrack feature, this would be it. Turn the music down, pop in a cd, and crank up the stereo to be better off. At least the sound effects are halfway decent. I actually liked the sound of Iori's flame attacks and Akuma's fireballs. And character voices sound fuzzy as well from time to time. Hey SNK, ever heard of polish? It's something you do to make things seem more professional.

So if you haven't purchased it already, go and try to find Capcom vs SNK 2 EO. It has better gameplay, and an even better following online.Plus it's the same price as SNK vs Capcom here. There's no reason why you should have this, but not that one. And even if you're a "hardcore" fighter fan, chances are that you'll be disappointed here. There just isn't much good to say about it. Let's hope that we get better 2D fighters on the Xbox from SNK and Capcom one more time this year.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely atrocious, avoid this game like the plague
This game was so bad, and left so much to be desired, that I, someone who never writes reviews, was compelled to write one, just to keep other people from buying it, and ultimately further rewarding an extremely subpar release. The game play is horrible. The graphics are sloppy. The animation is unfathomably choppy (the frames per second are very very low, maybe they could've gotten away with this 10 years ago on Nintendo version 1 or something). If you're expecting anything like arcade gameplay, look elsewhere. This was something that was dished out to the public to make a few bucks, and not much more.Quality and effort just weren't put into this game.

Blah, wasted money.

3-0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC GAMEPLAY GET'S IT DONE!
I WOULDN'T SAY FIGHTING GAME OF THE YEAR BUT 100% BETTER THAN CAPCOM'S FIGHTING EVOLUTION. NOWHERE NEAR BETTER THAN CAPCOM VS SNK 2 BECAUSE SNK GRAPHICS ARE CRAPPY,NOT INNOVATIVE, AND LOOK THE SAME EVERY FIGHTING GAME. THE GAME HAS SOME OPTIONS AND CHARACTERS THAT MAKES IT WORTH RENTING AND MAYBE BUYING BUT I ADMIT,SNK ALWAYS HAD MORE FIGHTING GAMES AND INNOVATIVE CHARACTERS BUT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'VE GOT THE POTETIAL ON BEING BETTER! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars 1 controller for 2 players gets OLD real fast!
*CHESS MASTER - XBOX*
Let me start by saying my family and I love chess. I've been patiently waiting for a chess game on the XBOX since the consoles release. Surely, Chess"Master" will be great, I mean you can't go wrong with chess right? WRONG! I suppose this game is fun if you're really into playing chess online or by yourself at home. However, I don't have an online account and if you want to play with a friend, at home on the same console, you'll be passing the controller back and forth. So much so, you'll wonder what the designers were thinking. Trust me, that gets old very quickly.
I specifically purchased this game to sit down and play chess with my wife and kids. Can you imagine how upset we all were when we found out we had to pass the controller back and forth to each other for each move? Why not a 2 player/2 controller system? To me it just ruins the game! I don't have online play and playing the computer gets old...fast.
IN FINAL: I'd like to say I love this game, I mean the graphics are good, the different chess sets are neat, the sound if fine, it's just no fun to have to reach over after every move and hand the controller to my opponent! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
I like the fact that you can play various modes in this game. But I must say that winning the World Series in this game is as boring as watching old people eat. There is no celebration, no running onto the field by fans, there is NOTHING!!!!.You just win and thats it.I have problems moving minor league players into the majors. You do not have a dynasty mode in this game which is needed.I hope the 2005-06 versiion is a lot better than this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best one I saw so far
I was kind of reluctant to buy this based on those reviews, but those guys were totally WRONG. They've got best stadium graphics so far, they've got good faces on Pedro, Ichiro, and some cool dudes, Jon Millar's voice makes any baseball games real, First Person Baseball brings YOU to the shoes and eyes of major leaguers (Boy, I love that feature for best), and in the GM career, you can get points or fired based on how the owner of the team's feeling on you. I tried MVP too, but it was too cartoonish and worst controls I ever saw. ESPN will rock the Baseball game's world!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Only changed their title, but good game
I hoped they continue this game's title as 'Sega World Series Baseball 2k4', but they changed their name. Otherwise it's good. Graphic was good, especially Byung-Hyun Kim's Submarine and how Derek Jeter acts at batting stands. Well, that's for players, stadium graphics and shadows were 5 stars, crowds too. They're better than ASB 2005 and MLB 2005,which are just like cardboards. There's only one problem for player, (or some) player faces are kinda like dead meat that are dried in kitchen for month. Some guy's face are richly detailed, but Sammy Sosa and Hideki Matsui's face were like unreal.
Commentary was nice, Karl Ravech was kinda annoying though.
Gameplay was good, but batting was kinda bad. It was ridiculous those players immediately get back to batting stands right after they swung.
Sweet sound effects in the stadium. But I kinda didn't like the musics. ( I'm Metallica fan)
GM officewas nice, so was Franchise.
First person baseball, and action cam were bit annoying but nice and exciting.
Certainly I'm kinda impressed with this game. I have no idea they could made it like real. I think this is better than MVP, so I recommend you to buy one.

5-0 out of 5 stars ESPN Major League Baseball
ESPN MLB is one of the best baseball titles out their if not the best. the staduims, sound efects, and players are very detailed. It's these little details that make this game great. The general manager mode is great the ability to be lured in by other teams instead of staying with one team expands your horizons and makes the game more realistic. The gamecast mode is very useful when you don't want to play a whole game yourself. You can start at the middle of the game or the end for a comeback win. ESPN really outdid themselves this year with this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good News/ Bad News
New ESPN packaging including the voice of superb announcer Jon Miller is no improvement on last year's model.Though there are some improvements (there better be!!) but it seems like it is at the cost of past improvements.....
I do enjoy being capable of playing regular season games (in GM mode) at any stadium I please including The Polo Grounds (now that's cool!).....
How could they get rid of being able to edit the players (adding a bit of power to your favorite player if you want for instance)?...
The GM mode does put a fun twist when you have to decide to follow orders of the boss or not....
I like that the Phillies and Padres new stadiums were added (why not add some more old stadiums though ex/Ebbets Field)....
It doesn't seem like they added any new vintage uniforms to the choice list from last years version (especially when you know there are so many cool uniforms to choose from in the history of baseball its a real disappointment what there is ex/70's White Sox)....
The graphics don't seem to be as quality as last years....
The statistics are more involved (that's a good thing)...
The games still has a poor minor league system....
Ichiro has a last name, use it!(last year I could add it on)...
Rex Hudler is still annoying....
After listening to Jon Miller say "...and the throw to first and he's out!!!" well after the play has been made and the fielders are running towards the dugout....
The system of saving the games is much more confusing than it has to be....
Game Play Sliders is improved over last years with more options...
BOTTOM LINE: game play is as fun as usual- playing in the stadiums that your favorite teams and ball players play in is awesome.I like the new TV style viewing/playing- and the new gm mode makes it worth the lowered price. If you already have last years game you could go either way on whither you would think this is an improvement worth your paycheck. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Superb entertainment for the Gran Turismo Deprived
Sega GT has been good since the Dreamcast days, and this version is a steady improvement from GT 2002.The biggest problem with 2002 was the lack of tracks, and there are new ones here, along with the obligatory new cars.Overall, the new cars, tracks, and somewhat improved graphics make this a more well-rounded game. While not the prettiest car sim, it does deliver the Gran Turismo PS2 style experience, and for a decent price since the day of its release.

Until Forza Motorsport hits the shelves, this is the one to buy for career mode racing with a wide selection of cars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Will not save more than one game
After trying the 2002 version I couldn't wait to receive the
newer online version. I was never planning to actually use
it online.

Here's the rub: several people at the house would like to use
it, but the game will only allow one game to be saved on the
HD. I bought an Xbox memory card hoping that it would
solve the problem, but it doesn't. You cannot transfer a game
from the hard drive to the memory card! For us this was very
disappointing, and makes the game all but useless.

1-0 out of 5 stars ce jeu est une copie ou presque de sega gt 2002
ce jeu est comme une copie de sega gt 2002 sauf que il y a une option pour jouer en ligne contre d autres gens. pas gros d imagination de la part de sega...

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD GAME
About 70% done with game.Alot of great car choices, good new
tracks.Just keep play it to get all the cars.Easily worth 20
bucks.PGR2 does have better graphics,but hey.Who only has 1
racing game?

3-0 out of 5 stars A good arcade racer, a poor piece of software
As an Xbox Live enthusiast, I've played countless games online. Midtown Madness 3 is my all-time favorite, but I've also finished Project Gotham 2 and played it online. Naturally when I saw this game selling brand new for under 1/2 the cost of other new Xbox games, I snatched it right up.

But this game is plagued by many of the problems that Sega GT 2002 had; poor/confusing menus, mediocre graphics and now a half-hearted attempt at online play.

Pros:
- All the things you love about Sega GT 2002: arcade-style racing, career mode, and lots of cars (about 40 additional cars added for GT Online)
- The online race modes include two truly unique styles: team battle (a relay race where each player races for 1 lap) and navigate (a blind man's race, where the co-pilot must indicate to the driver upcoming turns and competitor's moves).
- You can trade cars, parts and even cash with other players online!
- Three new offline challenge games (gathering, time attack and chronicle).

Cons (just focused on the improvements from 2002):

- Three words: Lag, lag, lag.

- Although the game is supposed to transfer SegaGT 2002 saved data to access customized cars from last year's game, I couldn't get it to work.

- Online matches are tough to join, if you try to enter a room that has a race already in progress, it pushes you back out to the main menu.

- In online play, when the 1st place car runs across the finish line, the game ends for everyone.

For the price, a die-hard racing fan can't really resist this game. Plus, with 2 months free Xbox Live subscription, (for new users only) this game almost pays for itself! So when it comes right down to it, this game is well worth what you paid for, but you should expect some inconveniences. Finally if you don't already own Sega GT 2002, you should certainly add this game to your collection since it is included in GT Online! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars To hyped up for its own good.
Combat in this game is to fast and the characters are to hard to control and their power and speed is to unbalanced.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lagfest At It's Best!
Iron Phoenix for the Xbox is a fighting game played in the third person perspective. The gameplay concept is very similar to other melee combat arena games like : Kung Fu Chaos or Powerstone. Iron Phoenix, can be played online or offline with up to sixteen characters on-screen. There are 10 characters to choose from including female characters. You can equip your character with one weapon (nine to pick from), which inlude; daggers, broad sword, light swords and even a large hammer. Your character can perform kicks, punches and special moves combined with your swords slashes. The moves themselves are easy to learn and seem neat in theory. There is also a power attack you can use called "chi" (similar to an enegry blast). You can play with BOTS or with human opponents. The arenas themselves are very large and look beautiful...but the whole game falls apart because of poor performace! The framerate is too low and makes the animation look jerky, and this problem is also present on the OFFLINE matches! The characters look drab and boring, they look very old school and could have been done on an older console like the PSONE or N64! The character animation lack fluidity that many other games have, every character moves stiffly and look fake! The camera is never in the right position and this will annoy you. I also hated Heavy Metal Music and this game has plenty of it.

Pros:
+good level designs
+the arenas look great
+good fighting techniques
+play offline with BOTS
+BOTS are very good
+XBOX Live up to 16 players

Cons:
-crappy camera angles
-low framerate
-jerky character animations
-not enough weapon variety
-heavy metal music
-ugly, stiff looking characters
-need more game modes
-lots of lag on XBOX Live

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Multiplayer Online Fighting Game
Iron Phoenix is a really interesting combination of two gaming genres. You get the multi-combos of a fun fighting game with the online fun of team combat!

The plot and background is pretty fluffy. A meteorite fell to earth, and special weapons were created with its ore. Now different heroes have grabbed the weapons and are vying for control of the region. In reality, when you enter into combat, you can choose any character you want, choose any weapon you want, and have fun.

The game is set in a Chinese themed world so you get a nice selection of male and female Chinese-style characters. While I really appreciate having females represented, how come they always choose to fight in incredibly skimpy bikinis? The guys are wearing full clothing and armor, whiel the girls wear bras and mini-skirts. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The graphics are reasonably impressive for a multi-person fighting game. Each character is clearly recognized, fighting in a world full of rippling water, waving trees, glowing balls and flickering light. It's not as pretty as say Halo 2 - the textures are a bit more rough and repetitive.Still, the reflections and lighting are reasonably good.

There isn't much to say about the sound. You can stick with the default soundtrack or play any other music you've loaded onto your XBox, which is a cool treat. There are the typical grunts and clanks as you fight, but that's about it.

Gameplay itself is reasonably varied. Each character has his or her own special talents and strengths. Each weapon has a different range, speed and style. You can really mix and match to find a style that really works well with your gameplay techniques. There are different game modes to give a try to. There are the traditional deathmatch and team deathmatch games. There's a VIP mode where a random team member is the Leader, and if he dies, the other team wins. There's a Giant Kill which is a really interesting idea. One team has just a few players, but they are giants. The other team has a ton of normal players. Finally the Challenge Ring requires a lot of patience, and is sort of a gladiator match. You sit around watching individuals square it off one-on-one.

The maps are nicely varied, from watery to temples to natural and so on. There are lattice-work metal screens, reflective pools of ater, flickering flames in multi-level temples.

It really is a great amount of fun to be in a fighting game involving a lot of teammates, and to be in a fully realized 3-D world. However, we were really surprised not to find any sort of campaign or story mode. Sure, it's fun to go into random combat mode and slash away at enemies. But we really enjoy having objectives to reach and challenges to win.

So I'll give this a 4/5 as a great online fighting game that, if you have friends who also play online, could easily provide months and months of great fun. But if they do a sequel, I *really* hope that they put work into a story mode, so that you can work through each character's storyline.

Rating: 4/5

4-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic!
Iron Phoenix is a great action game! It is a fast-paced game that is loaded with beautifully-rendered special effects. You can play 16-person games through XBox Live. The game is strongly weapons-based, meaning your abilities and moves depend on what weapon you are wielding. And there are some awesome weapons. This will undoubtedly be a great addion to any game library. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars not as good as version 3
it's simple.. if you have an xbox, get xbox live. it makes every game twice as fun and has some other nice features. you can download updates not only for some of your games, but for your xbox, too.

but the question here isnt whether or not to get xbox live, its what exactly should you buy? from using all 3 (the starter kit, version 2 and version 3) and the prices i've seen on amazon, i would reccommend either buying the starter kit or version 3.

version 2 is only a little better than the starter kit, in my opinion.. but not $10 better. if you have the money, you want to go for version 3, but if you dont have the $10 for version 3 instead of 2, you might as well save another $10 and get the starter kit. so what the heck did i just say? i said buy version 3!

5-0 out of 5 stars Living Life one Live at a Time
Live is a great service that really does hsow that online console gaming can be a viable future. This version comes with Mech Assault, easily one of their most popular online games, and Tetris, which isn't really anything new, but it's a good standby.

There can be lag on the headset, and how lobbies and the details about how the service is used can greatly vary from product to product, as each developer has done thins differently.

5-0 out of 5 stars At it's best!!
Xbox Live is no where compareable to Sony's Playstation 2 online capabilities. Any game provides hours upon hours of extra gameplay after the single player mode, which I haven't even played since getting Xbox Live. And how can you beat content downloads such as extra levels, updated rosters, new vehicles, and new maps? Not to mention the awesome friends list so you ALWAYS have someone to play and talk ... to via the communicator.High speed internet access is reqiured to play, which means no lag, I have yet to experience it and my cable modem is on the other side of the house.Playstation 2, haha, lag city. And who cares about playing Madden 2004 online, Xbox Live will have XSN sports network in a few weeks providing any sport you can think of online, with tournament and playoff options inluding leauges you can create and invite your friends.I think enough has been said, trade in or sell that ... Playstation 2 and do us all a favor and get Xbox and Xbox live. You'll thank me and be glad you did.Peace out, time to play online with Xbox Live.

4-0 out of 5 stars Su-perve performance!
I very much enjoyed this product. It only has a few downfalls....

The headset has a lag, for example......

If you say something to another person, you can here it in the head set, it also has a small delay.

In some games the frame rate is degraded, and performance speed slows down. Almost like having 56k.

Overall: Yes it is worht the money, but if you have to pay more than 50 dollars to buy a router, or something else to hook it up than no, it is not worth buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars It wipes out the comptetition, but vast improvements is need
I love Xbxo Live, but the lag is very high and we are PAYING for a what should be FREE P2P service... When M$ hosts no-lag servers, then it will be a 5! There were a couple up for about 3 weeks for Unreal Championship and a few for Soldier of Fortune II, this area must be improved upon! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best College Hoops Game of 2005
I have played all college hoops games of 2005 (March Madness, Final Four, and College Hoops). This one is, by far, the best.It is very realistic and I really like the controls.I also like the camera angle. This was just a really good game.

Gameplay 9/10: The actual gameplay is great.Allthough sometimes cheesy, such as when your player commits a foul your mascot claps, this game has by far the best gameplay.During the game you almost feel like your sitting in Row 20, Seat 5.The controls are the greatest, as it takes little effort to move from one action to another and the controls are set up perfectly for a basketball game.

Graphics 9/10: Everything looks great except sometimes when you look close the players look kind of crappy.Other than that the crowd and all of the other stuff is very realistic and bold.

Realsticness 9/10: The game is pretty darn realistic. Not only in graphics but also in the players actions.Such as when they are covering someone and the kind of ride up against them or when they commit a foul and argue to the referee.

Replayability 10/10: I play this game all of the time.I enjoy it just as much as I did the time before.

NOTE: This game has one of the best season modes as well (Legacy Mode). You can handle emails and recruit and it is very well organized.

Overall 10/10: Although if you add the numbers up it come out to roughly 9, this game definitely deserves a 10.It doesn't matter as much as how those things act alone, but when they come together that they make one heck of a game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!
This is a fun game, in fact it may be one of the best basketball games ever created.

However, Visual Concepts didn't properly test this game and they shipped a peice of garbage to consumers. What am I talking about?
Well, this game will freeze on you if you buy it-I garauntee.Don't beleive me?Check out espnvideogames website forums under this game and you will see thousands of complaintes about freezing. I am through with (VC, take-two, sega whatever you want to call them, they sell cheap games, and there is a reason for it, they have to cut costs somewhere along the line and with this game, they cut costs on testing.

3-0 out of 5 stars Why does this game have to make up name
Yes I like this game but well you probably heared Gerry Mcnamara well on this game sometimes they say his name is john smith or josh little or somthing like that you will find this out when you go to practice mode or to the roster. They also change the rating around a little bit. I mean one time 3pt rating is 90 the next it 86 or something.

4-0 out of 5 stars For all of you who play the legacy mode.....
This game is awesome. I haven't played but a handful of actual games but it is pretty fun. I like to play the legacy mode and simulate through the seasons which takes a couple hours to do but is very fun. However, when playing a game, the free throw system is a bit hard (biggest complaint I've seen for this game) but the trick is to wait until the "ready to shoot" message pops up and hold onto A and release when the guy is moving his arm up towards the hoop. Let it go when the player would let it go in real life if that makes sense. Same way when you actually shoot a free throw. You let the ball fly when you get the ball up and make a motion towards the hoop. It's not too hard with enough practice but some players it's just impossible to make free throws with because they are crappy. Practicing free throws in practice mode is a good way to get better to. There will never be a system everyone like so deal with it!!!!

Onto the legacy mode, it is soooooo much better. Most of the flaws are gone from the old game. One being OT games. You would win by 25 in the old game. That is unrealistic. 15 seed teams like Quinnipiac would win the tourney. That doesn't happen in this game. Recruting is VERY detailed and takes at least twice as long as the other game but is more realistic. I recruited a PG in the 2k4 version and a PG had 29 rebounds! Unrealistic and still, you have no clue if they are going to be any good. In 2k5, you scout their game 4 times or so and you get an idea about each of these aspects: shooting, offense, rebound, defense, hustle, quickness, leaping, and potential. Each has a letter grade. You will be able to recruit the exact type of player you want and it also lists priorities of the players to. So you know not to recruit a kid who wants to stay close to home if they are in the Bronx and you are in Cali! If you recruit hard and heavy, you can turn a program around just as in real life. It's DEFINITELY A LOT MORE REALISTIC than the 2k4 version.
With the Xbox, you can also add sountracks to play in the game to which is cool but you can't really find any roster files out there. You can buy Xbox memory cards but hardly anyone out there makes the roster files. So your favorite player may be named Manny Hooglesbee instead of Gerry McNamara if you turn on generate names! Oh well, it's all good. This game is soooo much fun and the time you spend playing it easily equates to $20 in no time or even cheaper if you buy it used. Great game and I would DEFINITELY reccomend.

If you don't play legacy mode, playing a season is still so much fun. You have to play smart and beat the defense the other team is playing. You can't just run around them all the time like in ESPN Hoops 2K4 (the NBA version). You actually have to use some strategy so it's better to play on an easy level and advance your way up or you'll just get pissed and throw the controller if you think you can play on MOP when you should be on Junior Varsity!

AWESOME GAME!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Most realisitc and best college game so far
[...]I am a college student who closely follows college basketball year in and year out.I feel I have a very good sense of how college basketball is played (much different from the NBA), andI think that this game is easily the best representation of college basketball to date.

People who are looking for a game that is about draining rediculous 3's, bigtime dunks and alley oops, or any other kind of flashy basketball, get March Madness.Given this is fun in a video game, but if you are looking for a real simulation of NCAA basketball, ESPN is the way to go.

In ESPN, you really have to know the team you are playing with.It is very accurate in the type of play each team has.The Big East is all about physical play down low and strong defense, while the ACC is about finesse...just like in real life.I saw a lot of the reivews saying that "teams dont dunk enough" or "alley oops are hard to do."That is real college basketball.College basketball has its share of dunks, and the game has its share of dunks...but most of college basketball is teamwork, and ESPN forces you to do this.

I found that I had to play differently with different teams. For example, I usually play with Boston College, working the ball down low and using the 3-2 zone to shut down my opponents in low scoring games. Then, I decided to play a Duke / UNC game, and the gameplay was very different. With Duke, I found I succeeded more when I worked it low, and kicked it out to Redick behind the arc.Teams are designed to play like they play in real life.Cuse plays a 2-3 zone, Redick is nasty from behind the arc, and Charlie Villanueva is a beast on the boards.Everything is very accurately represented.

One review I saw said that a negative was that they dont have player names.I actually think the game did a better than normal job with names. No college games are allowed to have player names because that would require them to get licensing from players, which is against NCAA rules. However, they make it very easy to enter the names, and the announcers even say all of them...there is a database of names that contains every college player's name I could think of (including obscure ones, such as Nate Doornekamp of BC).It is really easy to rename players, and very cool to name your favorite team and hear the announcers and PA announcer say the names, something most other games dont have.

Sega has finally come up with a free throw system that works. Its a pain in the butt to get used to, but once you get used to it, it's amazing. There is about 4 different free throw animations, and you have to press the shoot button and release it at the top of the shot.It is easy to tell for good players, and difficult to tell for bad players.Makes for very realistic free throw percentages, and doesnt have an annoying meter like other games have.

Little things are annoying about the game. The crowd graphics during cutscenes are awful, but its really not that big of a deal. The mascots are well rendered, but a bunch really dont look like they do in real life (ex. Otto the Orangeman). These are easily overlooked tho, because the gameplay is so good.If you are a die hard college hoops fan and want a game that represents the game closely, ESPN College Hoops 2k5 is the way to go. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
This game can only really be enjoyed by someone who didn't play the PC version first.I would call it "Samples of the PC Version" . . . although it follows the general story-line of the PC versions, it leaves out a lot of important missions (including considerable time in the tunnels and Hawkins' trip along the river alone to connect with the ARVN soldiers in the boat, which I was looking forward to re-playing on XBOX).In that sense, I can't even say it's a "Best of", just a "Samples of" kind of game.

Also absent, of course, is the kind of interactive detail of the PC version, like access to Hawkins' personal room and literature about the war, which you can read in the PC version. So in that sense it's much less educational.

Due to my familiarity with the storyline, I literally completed this 18-mission game over the course of about 3 days, not even playing that many hours on end.Furthermore, the game lets you save your progress whenever you want and has only 2 difficulty levels. While it's true that you sometimes pine for the option of saving at your own pace when playing console games, for me this only contributed to the lack of challenge and the speed with which I completed the game.

Overall, to see the best of Vietcong, stick to the PC version. All that the console version offers is a cheap imitation of the PC version with some worse language (something I already complained about in Conflict: Vietnam and Men of Valor . . . Vietcong is in the Men of Valor category with respect to language).

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep Looking...
You're out of luck...this game sux.
Although the missions get a bit more challenging as the game progresses, you will never sit back and exclaim, "This rocks!".
The graphics are weak and the enemy AI is virtually non-existent.I didn't even feel as though I had been playing that long, much less putting much effort into it, when all of a sudden the game was over.
This is probably good for a younger gamer, except for the adult language, it has little gore and no screams from the wounded enemy but it lacks the challenge and strategy that the mature gamer will enjoy.
If you're looking for a challenge, please keep looking, there are much better games out there.

1-0 out of 5 stars à éviter à tout prix
Men of valor a l'air beaucoup mieux.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not so good for the console
Played this game when it first came out on pc. It was fun, so I was pleased to find that it made it's way to the console. Unfortunatley it's not a good game for the console at all. Terrible graphics, and I rarely make comments about graphics being bad because gameplay usually makes up for that in my book. Well the gameplay sadly was subpar. The game itself was too simple. There was no challenge. the objectives were dull and didnt have meaning. There was a whole lot of repetition. Order the point man to lead. pointman stops when enemy spotted. kill enemy. proceed. reach objective. clear enemy. secure objective. proceed to landing zone. kill enemy. board chopper. booo
I made it to the 3rd mission and cut this game off. I recommend renting this game prior to making a purchase. Some might find this game interesting, but it lacks substance to make it a great game. I would also recommend trying the demo for the pc version. It is more well balanced and more fine tuned.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre at best
Rented this game from the local rental store, wouldn't recommend it.PS2 style characters and controls, if you've rented everything else then go ahead, otherwise try something else first. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Call it a 2.5
This is a long playing shooter with very poor graphics and average sound. If you like shooters you might like this and it might be worth it for 20 bucks, but if you haven't played ghost recon, halo, etc use the money on them and see what the xbox can do.This game might be alright for playstation II users but it doesn't really make the cut on xbox.

3-0 out of 5 stars Extremely long single player, but poor everywhere else.
I spent many, many hours playing the single player; and I normally rock at first person shooters. It's not that the game is hard, infact it's pretty easy, it's just long. The story line is there, but you can hardly follow it past, "bad guy with big biological gun". In addition to that, it's sometimes really hard to figure out what you're supposed to do with the big bosses. On the bright side, this game has tons of guns (plus a few that are locked out of single player for god-only-knows-what-reason).

This game also packs X-box live. Too bad out of the two times I've tried playing it, no one was online.

Personally I hated Redfaction, but this game wasn't too bad.

The best quality about this game is it's burtal bloody gameplay. You can shoot holes straight through an enemy head and see out the other side. You can blow a guy's leg off with a shot gun. Or if you don't think his death was brutal enough, crouch down with your knife and fix his body up. Maybe just take off his jaw and a few fingers; or leave nothing but a torso.

You can't beat the $20 dollar price; so get a job and buy this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
So you can deal damage to more specific body parts, thats about all this game has going for it. Even then its rediculous and so far from reality. Your telling me you can consistantly cleave legs off at the hip with a couple 9mm bullets? The "Military Advisor" they claim worked on this game with them must have been asleep. I'd say this game is one step above Turok. Its very, very shallow. I loved Red Faction 1&2...this is no Red Faction.

If you can love a game soley for its unrealistic, constant gore this is a good title for you at 20$.

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD GAME
Everyone says this game isnt as good as ghost recon so i dont like it. Well its not as good but its fun you can waste a few afternoons with this fun game. the graphics well...suck. But besides that its a fun game it costs just as much as Ghost Recon either one is fun and a good choice Soldier of Fortune may be a little harder though. The weapons are good with the Micro Uzi its practilly impossible for the bad guys to kill ya, whatever you do if you get around a whole bunch of guys dont use the shotgun. The missions in Hong Kong are fun, Columbia missions are also fun but the missions in Texas are just plain boring. The rain effects are terrible and some missions its pouring and you can barely see. The plus of this game is the Random Mission Generator you can create any mission you want Day or Night where you you want it EX a jungle or a icy wasteland ect. Buy its only 20 bucks y notttt.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Action Shooter!!!!!
Its an awsome game very realistic pure fun shooter if you like red faction 1 and 2 you'll love this game BUY IT!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

The latest incarnation of NBA Live has a slew of new features, like freestyle control, which lets you use the right analog stick to express your game with the step-back move. The game also offers triple-threat moves and pass interceptions. There are significant changes to the rebounding logic so players react in a more realistic manner to missed shots. Over 30 new rebounding animations allow for a wider variety of pulls off the glass. Motion capture, which was performed with two to four athletes simultaneously, is used for specific contact situations like post moves, pick-and-roll plays, and drawing the charge.

Enhanced CPU logic and AI allow for more effective fast breaks and open players who can cut to the hoop for scoring opportunities, as well as fine-tuned turbo buttons that afford players an array of in-game strategies. There are enhanced player movements, including dribbling, player-specific signature moves, and more responsive shot blocking. In addition, real NBA coaches roam the sidelines, and there is dramatic camera coverage of in-game and out-of-play sequences. 3-0 out of 5 stars It's all right......
This game is all right. It has all-stars from 1950 up till now, but even in Rookie mode, the computer always makes 3 pointers and you almost can't. There is one on one (nba player against nba player, like a hussle)mode, season, franchise, and normal games and practices. Also, you can't steal much. Everytime you try to steal, you get fouls. That's why I gave 3 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best b-ball game out
Wow!!!
Nba live 2003 is great. From throwback jerseys to play in to the new freestyle mode its like your in the game. By using the right thumbstick you can do crossovers, pumpfake, do a defensive crouch, make a perfect steal and whatever kobe or t- mac can do. BUY IT!!! Its the best one of its kind out. Nba live 2004 should be just as good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage...might as well burn your money
