Amazon.com Review

Football junkies have long been accustomed to loving gridiron videogames while tolerating their weaknesses. We appreciate the fact that developerstry to incorporate genuine college or pro atmospheres into the games, but itdrives us nuts when the fight songs are incorrect, the out patterns areautomatic, or the running game is unrealistically easy or hard.

But then along comes NCAA Football 2003 by EA Sports, a game so good thatafter a few weeks, even your dog will wonder why you never find the time tocommunicate anymore. Start with the AI--by far the best yet in a college game.Defenses not only react to your play calling and adjust their strategies as thegame evolves, but they expertly disguise their coverages and swarm to the ballwith speed and decisiveness. In addition, your computer opponent actually makesintelligent clock decisions when time is running out (shocking!). The runninggame at times is a bit easy on the lower difficulty levels (especially if a backlike Oregon's Onterrio Smith has the ball), but that's why they made All- American and Heisman levels.

The graphics, as is typical in football video games over the last couple ofyears, are extremely good, and the between-play animations provide extra sparkto the rivalries (taunting runs rampant). But the graphics aren't the star ofthe show--it's the dynasty mode, stupid. With enough special features and statcategories to keep college football hopheads happy for months--including acomprehensive recruiting engine, a customizable intro screen that features yourfavorite school's colors and fight song, and a Trophy Room that displays allyour bowl and rivalry game hardware--NCAA Football 2003 just might makefans forget the depressing length of the offseason. --Rivers Janssen

Pros:

  • Terrific AI
  • Fans of almost any Division I program will be happy with the team-specificfeatures
  • Passing engine actually requires you to read defenses intelligently
Cons:
  • Commentary is a bit predictable

5-0 out of 5 stars Gamer from Arizona
This is the best game I have ever played. I can stay on for hours at a time. The best part of this game is he camera view. It's closer to the field then Madden and taht makes it much beter to play.
Some games make it impossible to get passed their offense line and you can never get a sack. other games make it to easy. This one is just right.
I love the campus challenges. You can get hall of fame teams such as All-Pro Florida or All-American 2000 team. Then there are team pennants and stadium bowl and mascot teams. If there is a game that you need to get this is the one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but some flaws
Personally, I thought this was the best College Football game out there for the X Box.The controls are almost exactly like Madden's and the play is fun.The only drawback for me was the fact that they changed one button on the play calling screen.Call it what you will, but to be used to Madden and the way these games played on the PS2 before which all used THE SAME BUTTON CONFIGURATIONS and to have that changed for no apparent reason really irked me.I can't tell you the number of times that I'd switch between Madden and NCAA and make incorrect play calls because I was used to the other playcalling menu.It just doesn't make sense, but it's only a minor drawback to a solid game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must buy
Honestly, this is by far the best college sports game to eve come out.I would put it right up there with Madden 2003 in terms of graphics and Franchise/Dynasty Mode.It may even have the edge over Madden.Personally I am a junkie for the Dynasty/Franchise Mode, I love it.Nothing comes close to this.In depth recruiting that will blow your mind, scouting profiles, coaching contacts, job offers, tons of teams to choose from.Start at a small school and work your way up to a big program. It's phenominal.I honestly can not think of a single criticism, except that it may be a bit too easy to score on offense but then again college football is a high scoring game.At this point wait until the 2004 game comes out and then buy, I can't even imagine how they might improve it b/c it's already simply amazing. Must buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game, very addictive but not perfect
I bought this game when I bought my xbox a few weeks back. It took me a few days to learn the basics. Once you learn the basics and learn to call the audibles you are unstoppable. I have completed 6 seasons winning the national championship in the last 5 years and the rose bowl during the first year. The point I am getting at is if you have a good QB/Receiver combo, you will be able to beat the computer most of the time by calling by passing audible. I ran the same play 6 times and was able to get a completetion to the same receiver every time.

Apart from that everything else is great. The reality is amazing. The stadiums, the fans, the rivalries, the players are all very good. A must buy if you are college football fan. You can export the draft class and import it into Madden. How good is that..

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing, realistic, great fun
I've been a Madden junkie ever since the Sega Genesis days of the early '90s. I tried the college football equivalent at some point in the '90s and found it much inferior to what Madden was doing. That definitely isn't the case any more.

The first college game I tried on x box is the Sega game, and I found it very awkward and hard to get a feel for. This could be because I am so accustomed to the EA style of play calling. I found this EA game available for [money] here on Amazon, so I thought I'd give it a try, and I'm really glad I did. I have to say I prefer it to Madden in most respects. The simulation is amazingly realistic, and the college atmosphere with the rivalries, conferences, etc., makes for a more entertaining game. The NFL game may be "technically" superior, but this one is definitely more fun. Any college football fan needs to have this game -- it is a real thrill to take your team to to the field.

My only complaint would be that it takes so long to load. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME!!!
i wasn't to much into NASCAR, but i couldn't help it. i bought NASCAR THunder 2002 for my dad, and it's awsome!!! you can choose from over 40+ drivers and it has all the best drivers.
all real drivers and all their cars, and some cars have multiple designs.
you can create your own car with your own sponsors and also, when you go through career mode, you have a chance to become sponsored by a company like Kleenex. real awsome.

also, drivers views are good. you have about 5 views to choose from, including views like hood view and a view where you are the actual driver. real nice.

there are at least a dozen or so race tracks to choose from, and during the season you play at all the major tracks, including the Daytona 500. good game, lots of fun, and up to 4 people can play at one time. real awsome!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Fun!
I think Nascar Thunder 2002 is super fun and deserves 4.5 stars, but somethings are not included. Some of those are 1 you can't pick some of the options on career mode and 2 is that you cannot have coms racing when you have 3 or 4 players racing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE
I played this game at [a store] when the XBox was first being released and I have been hooked every since. I had no intention of buying an XBox as I have always been a Nintendo fan and I assumed the Gamecube was going to release Thunder also but when they didn't I knew I had to go out and buy the XBox just for this game. The drafting effects seem so realistic it's like you're actually driving the car. I have played almost every Nascar game available and I can honestly say this IS the best of all of them. Good job EA and XBox for the most addictive racing game ever created.

3-0 out of 5 stars . . .
... I don't know if I'm 100% happy with the decision. Like any good gamer, I came home and popped the disc in the machine and explored all of the options and features for a few hours.
I thought the career mode was neat and different, but at the same time a bit frustrating. Having played only NASCAR 4 before this, the feature seemed great-- something akin to Franchise in Madden. The main frustration is that I haven't figured out how to switch from a 5% race length (which is entirely too short).
As gameplay and graphics go, the game is hit and miss. Graphics are terrifically detailed, but kind of jaggy on a regular TV hook up. The sun glare gets irritating at times. The car handles pretty loosely, even when tweaked (i.e. you hit left on the D-pad a bunch of times to turn instead of applying a steady press at a certain pressure to turn). You need to be very (very!) delicate on the stick to turn smoothly. However, I'm still using the stability control so . . .
I know I had a lot of criticism for Thunder, but I think overall this is a solid game. This is one that takes patience and finesse. Definitely not a pick up and play title. If you are willing to put in the time to get good at this game and learn the finer points, I am sure it can be very enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best racing game out there

This controller is good, but if you are use to the "S" contollers, this may be a little too big, and unlike the "S" the black and white buttons are above the "Y" button(rather than bellow the "A" button.) but overall is a reliable controller. It has a "turbo" button and a progamanle button, but i never needed to use either.I got this in a "starter pack", if you can find it i recomend that because it comes with an extension cord, a disk case, and a water proof pouch. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars dont get this
this game is was alright at first, i enjoyed winning but that gets very old. The create a player is horrible. You can not have any detail with your player, as compared to live when you have many details. And what is with bo outlaw winning mvp every year? He is washed up and is a horrible player! That shouldnt happen. and the gameplay is not very great ethier. It dhould have the regualar controls like the Y button as block or rebound, not in this game. so i recomened you save your money and dont buy this, or go buy nba live 2003 or 2002, they are worth the money, not this game isnt.

2-0 out of 5 stars ESPN NBA 2Night 2002
This game is not the best basketball game out! I rented it for 5 days and it got very old! I would not recommend this game because you can hit the three too many times and win too badly.
I liked the "NBA 2k3" game and the "NBA Live" game a lot more because they are more challenging and have better graphics.

Bottom line: this game stinks!

5-0 out of 5 stars so cool!
get this game! you won't be sorry. best basketball ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is AWESOME!!
A must have for NBA fans, and also T-Mac fans!

Take control of T-Mac and his game and lead the Magic to the NBA title! This game contains all the players and teams, but it has the most important feature of them all, the edit player feature!! For example, if Troy Hudson, who wears number 11, was traded to the Pacers, he cannot wear the same number, because Jamaal Tinsley has 11. Other games would simply ignore that fact, and both players would suit up with the same number, which is so unrealistic! You can't have two players wearing the same number! NBA 2 Night's awesome EDIT PLAYER feature allows you to edit the number yourself, that way T-Hud can wear 11 and you can change Tinsley's to an odd number like 46 or something.

Another thing would be hairstyles and headbands. If a team, like the lame duck Hornets, decides to sport headbands for their playoff run, you can modify each player so that they can have headbands! No patches or cracks required for those! Same thing with hairstyles, if a team decides to shave their heads for the postseason, you can do the same thing in NBA 2 NIGHT! Simply modify the player so they can have a shaved head! If Mike Miller decides to have corn rows, then edit Mike's hairstyle and give him the 'rows!! Now that's awesome, no other game has this!!

After you win a championship with the Magic, you can take control of the other teams in the league, along with superstar players like Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Chris Webber, Gary Payton, and others! This game also has the grizzled vets like Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, and his Airness, plus brash rookies like Brendan Haywood, Zeljko Rebraca, and Tyson Chandler!

1-0 out of 5 stars dont buy this game
I bought the nfl primetime thinking it would be a great game but it [stinks] and i realized why Konami made it. I dont recommend buying any sports games produced by konami. They made ps2 mgs2 look good why didnt they try for the xbox. But I will let other people judge the game for themself. ... Read more

most people doing a review from what i can tell havent even rode a dirtbike so they think this game is relistic well its not on this game there are no actual roots in turns the rythem section is the easiest and the preloading is bad but if you have only watched or never raced you would like this game (thanks to carmichael and stewart)

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS GAME!
This game is the best game ever. What I really like about the game is that you can create your own player. You can't do that in MX Superfly. This game is great for doing wheelies. From the moment I had my hands on it,I could not stop playing it.I love the tricks in this game.I recommand this game to anybody that loves dirt biking.

5-0 out of 5 stars MX 2002 R.C
Much Better Than MX Superfly

2-0 out of 5 stars this game sucks
At first i liked the game but it got boring in 10 minutes

3-0 out of 5 stars Nothing revolutionary for an MX game
MX 2002 is definitely a fun game, but it isn't a particuarly ground breaking title.

The game centers around a career mode. You start at an Amateur in the 125cc class and work your way up to the 125cc Pros and then the 250cc Pros. Along the way you can take part in freestyle competitions and tutorials to hone your skills.

The tracks are varied and can be quite long, which makes for fun racing. However, the game as a whole is quite short. I was able to complete the game within 3 days and it doesn't offer much in the way of replayability because there are so few team/bike choices. Also, features such as qualifying races (and last chance qualifiers) are completely absent.

Overall I found Supercross 2000 for the N64 much more enjoyable. In particular it had running commentary during the races and multiple camera views. MX 2002 has neither of these.

I recommend renting it for a couple days of entertainment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars NFL 2K2
Bought this tape for my kids, they love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!
I got this game for my birthday this year.I can honestly say it is the most realistic football game to date.I'm not knocking Madden because that game is good too.NFL Fever is weak, its like playing with Super Mario guys.Totally unrealistic.NFL2k3 on the other hand looks and feels like you are watching a REAL NFL game. The addition of the ESPN license didn't kill this title it only made it better. You will feel like its really sunday and you are watching a real game. After the play the players with help each other up, pat each other on the back, or wince when they drop a pass. And during the game you get scores from around the league via an ESPN news ticker, just like on the real ESPN.I have loved NFL2k series since it first came out and have only bought them.Your either a Madden fan or a Sega fan.I'm a Sega fan and glad I am.

4-0 out of 5 stars Extreme difficulty levels
I am a new XBox owner, much older than most players, and 2K2 is my first game. With that said, the graphics and sound are tremendously lifelike. To a casual observer walking past the TV the game almost looks and sounds like a real game. The game has three difficulty levels. On the rookie level, after a few practices I picked a mediocre team, the Cowboys, and blitzed undefeated to the Super Bowl Championship, winning 42-7. I switched to the second level of difficulty and was continually slaughtered. Receivers almost always dropped the ball or the pass was intercepted. Three defenders smothered the receiver or the runner no matter what play I tried. So I am disappointed that there is that much difference in the levels of difficulty. I will have to be content to playing the rookie level unless I want to depress myself playing the next level.

5-0 out of 5 stars You actually feel an NFL player!!
...NFL 2k2 gives you the option of playing a normal season, taking your team up to the superbowl; or playing the franchise mode which is a different approach to the NFL: you manage a team, buy players, trade them, cut them off your team, extend contracts, etc.

You also have the option of creating your own team. You create each one of your players and allocate their skills according to what you're looking for.

This game is amazing. You can sack, blitz, intecept, fumble, safety, block kicks, return them to the end zone, you can get injured, you can injure, you can call audibles, you can, as a QB, run with the ball if all your receivers are covered, etc. etc. etc.

To all you die-hard NFL fans... buy this game!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst football game ever
The graphics in this game are absolutely horrible. Gameplay is horrible, selecting plays is horrible, commentary is horrible, the game is very unorganized. Good thing I only rented it. Go with NFL Fever, it is everything a football game should be and nothing like this worthless game, NFL2k2. ... Read more

GREAT EXITING GAME THAT REALLY GETS YOUR HEARTRATE UP.I CAN'T BE BEAT WITH JAMIR JAGR AND THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS.

5-0 out of 5 stars NHL 2002 - Hockey That Rocks Your House Into an Ice Rink-
This game rocks, the graphics are cool and the sound is very realistic. The Create-a-player option is very good, because of some simple steps you do to create a player, put his Checking ability, his agressive rating, and even his potencial and speed can be selected with just some clicks. I usually play with the pitsburgh penguins or the San Jose Sharks. You can create a team of your favorite players like Owen Nolan or even your created player of yourself. The fight mode in the games is awesome and the goal celebration cool. If you want to play a season, a world tournament with Team Canada or just a shootout the options are greate so you can guide yourself easy inside the Ice Rink. You can play with Joystick or a Game Pad or even with your own keyboard you can score goals and make natural hat-tricks with the power that offers you this 1 or 2 player game is awesome...

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not much difference from the 2001 version...
I rented this game because of how much I liked previous NHL games made by EA Sports. So I picked this up and poped it in.The first thing I noticed was that there were a lot of little movies.Players getting pumped up before a game, celebrations on and off the ice.I thought that was pretty cool, and a new added feature. But other than little things like that, this game doesn't offer much of anything new. Here's what I thought about this game, and why I only thought it a renter, not a buyer.

1. The graphics: The players are sharper, the ice is thicker. The fans actually move in 3D!But overall, not to great. The puck is way too big, and the overall graphics just aren't to improved. This game had great graphics, but so did previous versions.

2. The options: HORRIBLE.No create a team, no new features. And the biggest thing, no FRANCHISE mode! That was about as dumb as having no franchise mode in NBA Live 2001.I am seriously disapointed by the options in this game.Nothing new whatsoever!

3. The overall depth: After your first season, this game will probably get pretty boring.More new features and better graphics is what this game needs.I hope EA changed things in 2003 edition.Oops, too bad! They did the same thing.Until they finally add some sort of franchise and stuff like that, EA's NHL series will continue, for me, to be a renter, not a buyer.Rent before u buy, then make your decision.Just a warning.

Hope this helped, and I expect a lot more from the great company that is EA.Thx!

3-0 out of 5 stars 2002 falls short
My brother and I have probably logged more head-to-head games than anyone playing EA hockey simulations. We enjoyed the first two versions for the Sega and now have been playing NHL 99 for Playstation since it debued. We were ready to upgrade and went out and purchased an X-box specifically to play this game.We tried it for about an hour and decided that it wasn't worth the investment. (Sold everything at a loss on E-bay) The graphics were certainly much better than the 99 version and the gameplay was pretty good (not [money] better); but the one aspect we just couldn't get by was the horrible color commentary.I have read many reviews that said it was hilarious but we found that it just distracts from the realism of the game.Though the comments in 99 get a bit repetitive (in fact the rink announcer commentary is identical in 2002), at least they are similar to what you could actually hear watching a real game.2002 turns the game into a joke. It's like having Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football;you don't need annoying analogies everytime someone goes up and down the ice.99 kept the color comments spaced out much better and more in line with reality.
As for the ability to control every aspect of the game, I find that also takes away from the realism. If I have the option of having an unbeatable goalie why wouldn't I take it?99 was a great game in that each team was based on the real-life abilities of that team.If you want to win with a weaker team, you have to be a better player, not merely tweak and tune the options menu.
To be fare I'm sure there are aspects of the game that we couldn't pssibly have found in an hours time, but a great game should WOW you right from the get go and make you want to explore more, this game made it seem like a chore to find aspects to like. We'll try NHL 2000 for Playstation instead and see what that brings to the table, at least we'll save a few bucks!

3-0 out of 5 stars it is O.K.
NHL 2002 is a great game when you first buy it. Its is fast paced, action packed, and just plain fun. but after a while you start losing interest. maybe its because the season is to long, or that you play it 24/7. then it just becomes one of your old games that you dont play to much. if the could have like cheats for extra special teams and stuff it might be more fun, but unfortuatley NHL 2002 doesnt have that. i think this is just a waste of money considering how boring it gets.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best NBA game out there.
This game is the best NBA game out there. It has great graphics and detail. The free throws are challenging but not to hard like NBA Live 2003.Put it this way I bought NBA Live 2003 to give it a chance and give it two thumbs down.Today I'm going to Toys R Us to buy NBA Inside Drive 2003.But this version is the best yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's an all around great game
This game a great game to play with your friends.Evert time we play its a blast. The dunks are ausome, you can even break the rim. This game is also real it exactly like playing a real basketball game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft's First Venture Into the Basketball World Is a....
Failure.Here's why

1. No Franchise mode, I mean come on!Franchise is everything, and is what killed this game.No franchise = No real fun.I probably would have gotten it if this hadn't been the case.

2. The overall gameply.According to everyone it's to easy, the annoucers are horrible, the players look stiff. And is it just me, or is the stadium really dark?So much more could have been done.Better gameplay, graphics, and overall depth is how this game failed.

What I did like about this game was the passing and shooting style. The passes were cool and easy, and the shots looked awsome.Unfortunantly, everything is dark, the rims dont look like rims, and the gameplay is easy to beat.Trust me, I've played this game.

Overall, this game just didn't live up to what it could have been. But Microsoft already fixed the problem with the 2003 edition. The game has a ton of dunks, fluid player animations, and a whopping 25 season franchise mode.Sure, it's 60% more to pay, but it's either that, or this.Go for the new and improved 2003 edition.Either that, or go for NBA Live 2002 or NBA 2K2.Thx!

3-0 out of 5 stars A little disapointing.
I was really looking forward to NBA Inside Drive. I had been playing NFL Fever for months and thought this would be the B-ball equivilant. It's NOT!The graphics are decent (NFL Fever is better), the play-by-play announcers are entertaining, and there are some cool dunk sequences, but it left me wanting more.I think the main reason I tired of this game much more quickly that NFL Fever is the lack of a Dynasty mode. There is no salary cap,no create-a-player, and no dynamic player performance.Sooo, the team you create, is pretty much the team your stuck with, game after game, season after season etc. etc.I bought this game and really don't feel it was worth the $$$.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME !
There is a dispute with Inside Drive and NBA 2K2. Well I have played both games. Both of these games are 5 star. I think they are both evenly matched. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Fun!!
I rented this last week, and had to buy it.Just a real fun game--great for younger kids, as it isn't too technical.Graphics are fantastic, and the 'matrix shot' is cool as can be.I highly recommend this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars That's not Mcbride!!
First off I'm a huge fan of soccer and appreciate it when a company releases a game that recreates the feel of watching a good match up.This game however is more of an arcade type game and I knew that going into the purchase.I was not disappointed. There are a huge number of licensed teams to play and the XBOX version has goofy teams like the Navy SEALS and SWAT team. The "MATRIX" style slow-mo when you are going for a huge shot on goal makes the play style very original and when playing with friends, this move makes the room go silent until the the ball is released with a vapor trail behind it blasting the keeper off his feet and through the net.Now for the bad news....Although Brian Mcbride is on the box, his character looks nothing like him.Matter of fact none of the players look like their counterparts except maybe David Beckham. If you have the license, why not try to recreate the players' faces at least as is beautifully done in FIFA WORLD CUP 2002. Gripe #2 is that the game supports only two players at a time!Yeah you can play up to four total in a tournament but only with two at a time?! Why God, oh why do this?...All in all, however, it's great fun albeit unrealistic.Worth the cost of admission.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy...Great Game
I bought this game before even renting it. This game was a little bad, when you start to play it. I continue to play and got most of the different features that this game has like "Matrix Shots". Slow Motion shots is the most amazing thing ever to hit a sports game. It makes the game worth buying, the graphics are not bad at all. It also is fun winning the Xbox created teams. I give this game a perfect 5 stars because it is the best soccer game out there right. Midway continues to impress me and other gamers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Soccer Game
I purchased this game two days ago. I just played for only 15 minutes and returned the next day. Yes, it is really bad. This game is not fun at all because it is not realistic. FIFA 2002 or 2002 FIFA World Cup is a much better game than Redcard. The gameplay and graphics are not very good compare to the FIFA games by EA. If you are a mateur gameplayer and love soccer, don't buy this game. If you buy it, there is a high probability that you will hated. Try FIFA first.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hated it
I really didnt like this game.If you want a real soccer game get fifa world cup 2002.My friend has it and it rocks.I bought this thinking it would be like that but less realistic.Yes it is less realistic but the gameplay is horrible. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

ESPN offers up its own NFL coverage on the occasional Sunday andThursday nights. It's not as wacky as Fox's nor as staid as CBS's--andit isn't as prestigious as ABC's Monday Night Football--but it isa recognizable name to mainstream fans who might notice it in a fielddominated by other football video games. ESPN NFL Primetimedoesn't outdo the other titles in rushing and passing, but its gameplayholds its own in a crowded market, plus it has a franchise option thatcan't be touched.

The graphics are quite good. Although not as flashy as NFL 2K2 orMadden NFL 2002, they at least offer a great deal of speed. Allthe animations are performed quickly and with little of the slowdownthat's plagued many a first-time sports game franchise. The result isslightly faster-than-normal gameplay that's quite exhilarating, butmakes the game somewhat more difficult to get into. It doesn't help thattackles are performed from a bit too far away, and too many tacklersseem capable of stretched out 5-yard leaps.

The running game is a bit frustrating at first. Basically, only the bestbacks in the business can gain even 2 to 3 yards per carry; the rest getstopped in the backfield by the defense. Passing isn't much morerealistic as long bombs are a bit too easy to catch, even in traffic, but that same complaint can be leveled at every football game this year.

Primetime's extensive franchise play is as deep as thecompetition's, but offers a hard-core NFL fan's attention to detail whenit comes to stat and scouting reports. Stats even include such real-lifeminutiae as a player's 40-yard-dash time and how much he can benchpress. Combine that with the excellent use of ESPN's visual style andcommentary from Chris "Boomer" Berman and Tom Jackson, and the gamereally does look and feel like a Sunday night broadcast. This one isrecommendable to true football fans--even if they're already playingwith the competition. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Excellent presentation and stats tracking
  • Probably the best franchise mode available
Cons:
  • The running game isn't perfect
  • Neither is the passing game

5-0 out of 5 stars this game belongs to the xbox
when i first played this i didn't completly like the game but then i tried franchise mode.WOW! that was the greatest 17 games i had ever played.game play is simple and passing is very easy. if your a hardcore football player buy this

5-0 out of 5 stars prime time is right
This game is " prime time" if you like football the gameplay is great. When you play it, it's like you are on the field it is one of the best life like football games skip NFL Fever and NFL Blitz 20-02. GET THIS GAME IF YOU WANT THE BEST.

4-0 out of 5 stars Way under appreciated title, solid game
When I went to my friends house and he told me he got Primetime I was very surprised. Already with 3 solid football games (NFL 2k2, Madden 2002, and NFL Fever) on the system Primetime seemed like a waste. Boy was I wrong......

PROS:
-AMAZING!!! Franchise mode, the best in the business
-Great menus and game setup
-Its ESPN and whats better than that??

CONS:
-Gameplay is slighty weaker than Madden, 2k2, and at about par with Fever
-Graphics do not compare with the 3 other f-ball games

-You would think it has cool commentary but the commentary is kinda weak

All in all, Primetime is a great game....as it being your 2nd football game on the XBOX. Fans of the franchise mode will love this game but if you have no football games on your Box right now then i would reccomend either 2k2 or madden.

5-0 out of 5 stars IT WAS GREAT!!!...
...The players look very real and the game is very close to the TV show. I also liked that the commentators say negative things about the penalties. I really recommend this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars action packed game
this game is the bestgame i have ever played.i can never get board of it.all of the funny touchdoun dances and bone crunching tackles is just the best. i garuntee if you buy this game you wont regret it ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars MLS Extra Time 2002
Although you'll initially curse the rigid control system, ExtraTime soon comes together as an above average soccer game. It runs at a smooth 60 frames per second at all times, there's virtually no load time, and it's got a great set of modes and options. The objective-based Scenario Mode in particular adds a welcome dose of originality to the standard array of modes found in almost each and every soccer game. On the flipside, there are also a number of problems that keep this game from being a favorite. In-game strategy options aside, it's simply not as well-rounded a package as last year's FIFA, lacks key licenses, and plays nowhere near as well as Konami's other soccer offerings. Konami will always have a special place in the hearts of soccer fans in Europe and Japan -- I realize that the US is still a niche market for soccer games, but it would be nice if we could all get to play the same game next time around. Since Xbox owners didn't get the superior FIFA 2002, this is currently the only MLS game around -- so give it a look if EA's World Cup game isn't your cup of tea.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This game is so much fun, it is very realistic too. I love soccer games and this is one im glad that I bought. If you have an XBOX do yourself a favor and add it to your collection of games. The Graphics are awesome, and you can be just about any international team. BUY IT!

1-0 out of 5 stars This isn't worth your time or purchase
MLS Extratime offers the most up to date rosters for the MLS and more than enough International teams. What I find annoying is that the World Cup is just around the corner and although having all the real MLS players is nice, it doesn't have real international players for the rest of the teams. I like the MLS and all but the World Cup is soccer's premiere event and not to have the international players not accurately represent is a big minus
One thing MLS Extratime does have is decent controls. The players feel pretty responsive when controling them. The through pass is also done very well, just like in ISS 98 for the N64. The coaching options are nice and the control of the set pieces is done well. Too bad all these nice features are completely overlooked due to the most annoying player switching I have ever seen in a sports game. I would like to say that no sports game should have automatic switching of your players. Combined with manual switching makes even more frustrating. It's really annoying with you shoot a shot and it's blocked and instead of retaining control of your player it switches to some player not even in the run of play.

Graphic fortunately, this is an aspect of MLS Extratime 2002 that wasn't royally [messed] up. Although the player models aren't as good as EA's FIFA, MLS's face models are much more superior. The players really look very similar to the real life counterparts. The animation of the character is done pretty well and the stadium environments are better the EA's FIFA.

The Compute AI stinks in this game. I'm beating the computer defenders like they were drugged up before the game. Also it's so easy to score on the computer goalie. Just do the same move over and over again, cut in out and shoot, works every time. Pretty soon I was crushing the computer 10 to 0. I swear there's more scoring in this game than there is in hockey, which is not realistic. The game feels very arcade like because of this.

MLS Extra time may be presented like a real ESPN TV soccer match but in no way does it accurately depicts what goes on in a real soccer game. This is a great game if you don't care for realism in your soccer game.

2-0 out of 5 stars somehow got worse after N64's ISS 98.
Bad news first: International Teams - they used to use fake names, now everything is fake - no real uniforms, players aren't based on anything real, and somehow the U.S. is the best international team.
Gameplay: no shoulder tackles like in ISS 98, the line-up menus are more difficult to navigate through, and the gameplay isn't as fast as it used to be.

Good news - if you're a big MLS fan - it has all the stadiums and players.

But, I like my international play, and hate EA's FIFA series. What am I to do?

4-0 out of 5 stars After 2 hours
I got this game yesterday and have played it for about 2 hours. It is my second game for my xbox.I haven't played any earlier versions of mls or anyother soccer game for that matter. In the two hours I have been playing the game I have scored one goal off a cornerkick. The amateur setting is pretty tough. In particular how the screen is displayed makes knowing where your guys are to pass to pretty difficutlt.I would guess about 70% of passes are done blindly (no matter what camera angle is chosen).Overall I find the game pretty entertaining, though I have a feeling it requires far more effort from a player than I wish to spend to become proficient.Maybe if you have some gaming skills the game is easier.Still I wish I could see more of the field at once so I could understand where my guys are.Still if you have to get your soccer fix this is the only way for 2 more weeks...Personally I am holding my breath for the david beckam game... ... 1) Ford GT90

Aceleration: /////////////////////////MAXED OUT!!!

Arguably the fastest car in the game. Unlock this baby by winning the 90's race in 2nd season, which is very hard. Racer Type:EXPERT

2) Ford GT Concept:

5) Dodge Viper GTS/R

Everyone's favorite racer. AMAZINGLY FAST CAR, but hard to turn.

2-0 out of 5 stars half crap, half FREAKING GOOD GRAPHICS!
GT 2k2 is some what of a half baked game THE GRAPICS ARE FREGIN GOOD DONT GET ME WRONG but the gameplay is CCCCRRRRAAAAPPPP

Example:

I Was driving a fully tuned ,1228 HORSEPOWER,
1000 KILOGRAM, FORD GT 90, 0 to 60 time: 1.5 seconds!,
In a drag race against a mildiy tuned subaru wrx with
415 horsepower, weighing 1200 kilos, 0 2 60 in 4-5 seconds
AND DRUMROOL PLEASE

I LOST BY ONE SECOND ( which is like one minute in circuit racing ) the suba-ricer finished in 8.5 seconds which shaters the real life record set by a 1227 hp skyline GTR from sweeden by like .3 seconds

Anyway its a crapy game that i recommend only to those who enjoy drooling over superb grapics for hours and hours on end

and thats the end of my review peace out,L33T

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, EXCELLENT CARS!!!
This game is pretty darn good. Some say that it is too hard, but thats just because those dummies don't know how to use the brakes, or there car is too heavy with crappy brakes and tires. All you have to do is replace the brakes and tires and suspension every once in a while, and if that is still not good enough for your cruddy little driving skills, then get something light like an RX-7 or the Elise Exige. Anyways this game is so highly addictive, i play it for solid months upon years. Not only is the money and advancement in liscences you get fun, but there are billions of cars!!!! There are already a lot of cars to just buy, but there is about twice that many you may unlock or win!! The price for cars ranges from 5,000 to 150,000 and beyond. Sometimes it may cost up to three times as much dough to pimp out your car with turbochargers, new suspension and brakes, weight reduction, and other stuff. You got stuff ranging form old gt40's and jaguars and celicas and dodge chargers to brand new corvettes and ford gt concepts and vipers and all sorts of sweet ****!!! (The Caspita is my favorite that i unlocked) You got muscle cars, old classics, luxury cars, super cars, popular street cars, Euro cars, japanese cars, american cars, german cars, and some down right pathetic peices of junk. The racing is fun and it gets harder as you get better cars and it is really hard when you get to the world championship in the second season. Thats right, after you beat it the first time, there is season 2, which is about the same except harder, more parts and cars, and you don't have to go throught those back-breaking liscence tests all over again. I only have this version, but there is version for xbox live just come out and you may use your old saved games with your cars for it. You may also download cars, maps, and all the rest of the glorious glory that comes with xbox live games. Sweet Game!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars A realistic driving simulation!!! but not that great a game.
Sega GT is an good game. Its almost an exact copy of Gran Turismo. The graphics are beautiful, controls are good, handling of cars is realistic, the sound is great, but it lacks the fun factor.
The single player game in which you play a professional racer is good. Its nice to get money to buy better cars and to buy used or new auto parts. The realism of everything is great, (but not for someone who always crashes!)I like the idea of the liscence tests.
However it is so repitive! The A.I is tough, offering no difficulty setting. Its no fun when you complete so many races to buy this expensive car and then you go into a race and all your opponents have as good a car as you! Whats up with that? There is no xbox live, multiplayer is weak (4 players would have been nice.) For me, a realistic driving experience isn't my thing. But if you fancy this kind of stuff, I recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Graphics are great, i'll give it that much. The steering is horrible. At every turn it's like crash into the wall.Too hard to earn money. ... Read more
