The combat system is done well. There is more going on here than just punch and kick. Attacks can be blocked but while doing so you are vulnerable to throwing moves which can put you in some sticky situations. Each area has its own set of unique props that can be used to subdue your opponent. For example: in the kitchen area you can throw pies, eggs and chairs at your adversary or throw them onto the stove if you want to turn up the heat a little. A variety of clever interactive environments and unlockable extras like characters and outfits give the game reasonable replay value. Which is good because my son asks me to play it with him just about every 15 minutes. The four player support lets Mom get in on the action who without any love for the cartoon seems to enjoy smashing us with huge turkey legs and snow shovels. This game has nothing in it that you won't find in the cartoon. Characters getting there butts lit on fire or being smashed flat like a dinner plate is about as bad as it gets. If you feel comfortable letting your children watch Tom & Jerry you are not going to have any problems with this game. Although as a tournament style fighting game it does concentrate on this aspect making the violence positively pointless. Four player support, great sound, a variety of unlockable extras, rewarding combat system and a cool license rate this game an easy 4 stars. Minor control issues, short short single player and pretty poor documentation keep this game from being perfect. Still this is the best game of its type that I have played on the XBOX. ... Amazon.com Review The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, and who knows what else? But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about. Well, games and the fun of owning a green-glowing game console that looks like it came from Darth Vader's living room. --Mike Fehlauer Features Reviews (86)
Amazingly detailed graphics The Bad System weighs a lot-don't expecting anything you can bring on vacation Overall the Xbox is an excellent system choice for gamers who love action/shooter/online games. The Xbox excels in these areas;in fact it blows the competition out of the water. But, due to the lack of games in certain genres, I have to knock the score down a star. That being said, if you are looking for a graphics powerhouse that is home to the best online games (Mech Assault, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell Pandora's Tommorow) and the best action games (Halo, Halo 2, Brute Force, Deus Ex 2), then you should purchase an Xbox as soon as possible.
Amazing Graphics (The Xbox's graphics are much better than either Gamecubes' or Ps2's) Cons: The system is massive and weighs around 10-12 pounds Overall, the XBox is a graphics and sound powerhouse that has a very bright future. Unfortuantely, its lack of RPGs and niche games force me to knock down the score a star. Still an excellent choice for any gamer
I'll warn you here and now: If you're an RPG geek, DO NOT buy an Xbox. It has absolutely nothing to offer in the way of roleplaying games. And no, there isn't a chance we'll see FFXII on the Xbox. Sony might throw Nintendo a bone with Crystal Chronicles, but they'll never share FF with the American devil Microsoft. The Xbox is a fine system...for my little brother, who worships Halo and any other game where he can 'blow things up real good'. The selection of games isn't very diverse at all--more so than the kid-oriented Gamecube repetoire, but not nearly as much as the PS2. Xbox may be newer and have better graphics, but I'd rather just be able to play the games I like. Also, that controller's as ungainly as all get out. And there's no way I can justify buying an expensive add-on for the right to play DVDs, when the cheaper PS2 requires no such thing. So, if you stick mostly to RPGs, stick to the PS2. Perhaps someday Xbox will offer more in that area, but I'm not holding my breath.

The game looks surprisingly good and despite claims to the contrary on the box, it supports 480p. The cars also look solid, but no matter how hard you smash 'em you can't get a dent anywhere. The real problem with this game is in the control, structure, and depth. The control feels like driving a boat down a channel and never manages to have the powerful feeling that every great racer has. The structure isn't terrible, it's just not very good...same goes for depth and the game as a whole.
Developer Razorworks is the English studioe behind the excellent Total Immersion Racing of a couple years back and they have obviously got some skills when it comes to racing games. This title starts of with a weak subject and gives it the deluxe treatment. Virtually every car Ford has ever made that didn't suck is here, along with a great many concept cars. Classics are in abundance all modelled very, very well. They look fabulous thanks to a state-of-the-art graphics engine on the NVidia hardware and the bright, over saturated colors fit the feel perfectly. The sound is spot on too. The Mustang's 289 V-8 sounds exactly as I remember mine, only without the banging sound when mine blew up. The soundTRACK is all original and also surprisingly good. It's as though someone gave Weezer and Green Day testosterone shots. The world is filled with abient animations that add to but don't distract from the immersion very much like TDK Mediactive's Mercedes World Racing. A huge variety of tracks is here with every type of racing from scenic rural highway to city streets and dirt tracks. Stock car ovals and rally type runs round out a staggering variety. Every type of racing is included as well. The standard duel, time attack and such is here but also challenges such as cone gates, elimination, second off, and such add more of that thing this game has in spades... VARIETY. The total quality of this game and depth of play value make it very much worth your hard earned ducats and I would recommend it ahead of the disappointing Midnight Club II, and execrable Need For Speed Underground. No XBOX Live online play but there is support for posting your times and scores. Minimal but welcome nonetheless. No game which doesn't support Live is getting purchased in the new year (take note EA!) by this gamer. Head to head racing is split screen for 2 players only with no support for system link. Also HDTV 480p is NOT supported. Having said that it still looks very, very nice on an HDTV LCD display. Some titles have ugly artifacting when rendered on a fixed resoultion display, such as Sega GT 2002. Custom soundtracks are supported but the original music is such a good fit I haven't felt the urge to play my usual driving tune mix of Satriani and Meshuggeh. Nothing like the annoying gangsta rap crud that fills some other recent racing games. Despite the missing features I am very pleased by this game and have spent many, many hours in enjoyable tension racing Mustangs, Gran Torino's and T-Birds by the sea. The driving physics engine is a credit to good design. Both a simple, fun 'Normal' mode and a meatier 'Advanced' model are available. The 'Advanced' is simulation style like say, Apex or Rallisport Challenge. The Normal mode is very forgiving and plays a lot like the excellent arcade racer Burnout 2. You just can't go wrong with this level of play value, depth and quality for this price point. I'm buying a couple more copies to give for Chritmas presents. And no, I am not an Empire Interactive stockholder. :} From now on anything developer Razorworks makes is getting bought even if it is Mary-Kate and Ashley Practice Parking. These boys just have gotten it all right. ... Read more | |

If you are a motor biking fan then this is the game for you, also it is a must for you.
One day I decided to really try and take a look at this game. I created my own race using the demo and had 16 people enter the game. First off, the Lobby is the best of all the Xbox games I've played. That includes NFL Fever 2003, Mech Assault and Unreal Championship. So I started the game and wow, this game just blew me away. I don't know what I was smoking when I played it the first two times. Handling the motocycles are no easy task. Just think Gran Turismo when it comes to handling, especially when taking corners. It will take lots of practice to take those corners at high speeds. On XBL, the game is sweet. I experienced no lag and the races were intense. One good thing is that not everyone is on the same skill level, so if you are a new to the game you won't feel left out. The first corner of every race is always the most dangerous. Some are lucky to make it around the corner without being caught in the major wipeout caused by one or two people crashing. lol. Since I've played it that one time, I haven't stopped playing it. This game is basically at the top of my most favorite games list. And that list does include games like Halo and Splinter Cell. I'm not deep into the whole motocycle racing thing, but this game is fun, especially when you see a lot of people in one area moving at high speed. Did I mention that the xbox communicator works great? Well it does. The games I've been in have very talkative people and that just makes the experience better. But be warned, one slip up on the track can cause someone to fly right by you. Its nerve wrenching when you have a high position in the game. You don't want to make any mistakes that will cost you your position.

Pros: Controls are very easy to learn, there is a good soundtrack, you can play as your favourite disney chacters in their worlds, takes a while to beat. Cons:The graphics could use some work, too easy for experienced gamers, corny, you can only create kids, strangely addictive, no xbox live. In conclusion, Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure is a very easy game, a bore for more experieced gamers, but a great game for kids and the family.
