Be warned: the online mode NO LONGER WORKS. Sega already said it will NOT be back, ever. Not to worry, though: split screen mode works really well.
No Damage to cars after a crash You can drive head on into traffic get in a crash that makes you flip 4 times and still be in the race at regular speed. Online play requires multiple downloads Those are my reasons for giving this game a 2 you don[t]... ha[v]...e[t]...o believe me but if your shopping for a racing game on the DC just pretend you never saw this one.
The online Net Battle is so well done that even on my DreamCast's 33.3k modem there is virtually no lag at all! It's just like playing Daytona in the arcade again! One thing that lets it down is only 4 human players can be in a race at a time. But this is probably the reason why there is no lag in gameplay. Overall, Sega has done a great job with porting an old classic to the DreamCast, I hope they will keep it up and port a few other arcade games. ... Read more

in turn, this also makes it extremely difficult to unlock the hidden events, because of requirements needed in other events. I would reccomend this game to any fan of the original Track and Field title for Nintendo (great wasnt it) and any sports/olympic fan. Events you find in this include: 100m dash, 110m hurdles, weightlifting, javelin, hammer throw, long jump, pole vault, horizontal bar, 100m freestyle, triple jump, vault, and trap shooting

The 3-D perspective was poorly handled by the game engine. It is virtually impossible to walk a straight line regardless of the camera style you pick. Just about every jump has to be this ridiculous double wing jump.Precise moves are crucial to complete the tedious missions that even level 1 presented, and as an adult veteran of Tombraider and Spiderman, the controls for this game just made me mad. You spend all your time trying get the right position and failing to land in the right spot. How they could make a game obviously targeted a younger gamers so bloody hard to navigate is a mystery. Envision your child controlling Buzz on a ceiling beam, trying desparately to make him walk a simple straight line, and slumping in frustration when he falls for the umpteenth time. My son loved Spiderman on the Dreamcast, and I was trying to find something similar but less mature. Toy Story 2 was horrible by comparison.Never bought a more frustrating Dreamcast game )except for maybe Qbert). Very disapointing.DO NOT BUY THIS GAME even for 5 bucks.

Editorial Review The clean graphics show some extremely well-detailed players, stadiums, fans, and even coaches. While the player animationsaren't quite smooth as glass (there are quite a few speed-ups andslowdowns), the players do move in a fairly realistic manner. When yousee the instant replay of your favorite power forward delivering amassive dunk, you'll cheer. To complement the visuals, Sega has addedplay-by-play and color commentary to document the on-screen action. While this does get a little repetitive, this feature ultimately addsto the atmosphere of realism. NBA 2K shows some trouble with controls. This is most apparentin handling loose balls. You'll cringe as you occasionally watch longpasses sail out of the court, resulting in mindless turnovers. This isespecially painful to watch when the Dreamcast can't complete passesto computer-controlled players. These stupid turnovers can, will, anddo affect a game's final score--and have even caused a few games to berestarted in disgust. On the positive side, NBA 2K contains anew finesse-based method of hitting foul shots that requires that yousqueeze the control triggers in near perfect synch. The create-a-player and coaching options make it relatively easy tolead your team from postseason TV watchers to championship ringowners. While the 2000 season's prettiest basketball game offers more thanjust the most delicious eye candy, there is still a lingering feelingthat NBA 2K could've been much better with alittle more fine-tuning. At the very least, while NBA 2K is recommended, it isanticipated that the successor NBA 2K1 will offer even morebackboard-breaking fun. --Mark Brooks Pros: Reviews (100)
Anyways, this game has alley oops, great graphics [graphics are especially good in NBA games cuz it just looks weird when the graphics are bad in nba games, and also if you watch the sport on tv, you can tell who's who and find the better person faster without using direct pass!:) ] The rosters are accuarate, no FAKE rosters such as "roster 14" like the NBA LIVES series. all players are ACTUAL PLAYERS! here are a FEW things you can do in NBA 2K alley oops and also when u create a player you cant have him PERFECT, which i think is actually a GOOD thing so the game wont be too easy. and when you make your own team, the names are set for you allowing the announcer to say the name, which makes it less confusing [i was confused when me and my friend played NBA LIVE 98 on computer and both made custom teams] hopefully a system will make a WNBA game soon though, cuz TINA THOMPSON is hott! :) ... Amazon.com Review Thankfully, fielding is back in the game (fielding was automatic in 2K1).Unfortunately, the controls can be very tricky. Ground balls hit within areasonable range of the player often pass him. The only alternative is diving, which leads to spectacular shots of players diving over and past baseballs. Thebatting and pitching controls are simpler than in last year's version, but couldhave used more polishing. Hitting is way too arduous (in the video gamesense)--even after dozens of game hours, tracking pitches is far more difficult than inother games. Positives include sharp graphics and a plenitude of modes, such asexhibition, season, playoffs, home run derby, franchise, and online. This iscurrently the only baseball game on a console that supports Internet play, albeit with some lag and bug issues. Problems aside, this is as good as baseball gets on this platform. If theDreamcast is your only system and you're itching for a baseball game, then don'thesitate to pick this one up. Gamers with other consoles should consider EASports's and Acclaim's baseball titles. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Reviews (107)
PROS: (1) Fielding!2K1 was almost massacred with ratings saying that "automatic fielding was so boring".I admit I was one of them.Well, here it is.This was sort of a problem for me as it sometimes a pro and con at the same time. One minute your player makes a stupid dive right over the ball, the next a diving catch or snag of a line drive 10 feet in the air. HOWEVER, this manual fielding isn't so bad as everybody says, although sometimes I wish that automatic fielding was an option. CONS (don't be scared because I didn't put up enough pros up there!) I could add more, but the reviews below me will probably fill the rest of you questions (and time) with useful answers.I hope this helps you, a fellow consumer, to be thrifty about spending money on video games....
Pitching in this game RULES!Curveballs,Sinkers,sliders,fastballs,Change-ups,forkballs and splitters. They're all here! The players are so realistic it's like you are controlling real life players. Each player has their own unique body type, batting stance and swing. Mark Mcguire looks and acts JUST like Mark Mcguire. All of the players are true to life. If you own a Dreamcast or are thinking of buying one this game is a must in your Sports Collection.
PROS: 1. The stadia and fields are very realistic. 2. At first, I was concerned that there was no "spring training" or "batting practice" mode. Then I figured out that "rookie" mode is all about BP. 3. This game has the best create-a-player that I've ever seen. 4. Actual gameplay (controls and movements) is top-of-the-line.Better than any other baseball game I've seen to date.Once you master the reaction needed to field grounders (after changing infielders, if necessary) and position yourself for shagging fly balls, you're golden.I will agree with the other reviewer who mentioned that there seems to be at least one dropped fly ball per game, but in my case (thankfully), it usually happens to the CPU. CONS: 1. No color commentary. There is a play-by-play announcer, and it is not very dynamic play-by-play--the announcer will repeat himself frequently. And if you score more than 100 runs in a game (yup, I have), he gets really confused. It's quite humorous. 2. Every single player has the same home run "trot" that involves pumping his fists in the air and landing defiantly on home plate. It's funny to see a player like Edgar Martinez--who shows very little emotion on the field in real-life--acting like he has never hit a home run before. 3. You can strike out anybody, anywhere, anytime by simply locating your pitch just beneath the strike zone.It doesn't matter what pitcher you are using. 4. There are lots of bugs.I won't repeat them since other reviewers have covered most of the, but one that is worth mentioning (and proves that I've played the heck out of this game) is that no player can have more than 127 homers in a season.Once you hit the 128th, the counter resets to -127 and counts back to zero.NICE. 5. I'm not sure why Sega even included the ability to "trade" in Franchise mode, because the CPU will reject any trade.I tried to trade Barry Bonds for Charles Gipson.Ixnay.Now THAT'S funny. There are other issues, but these are the major pros and cons.I'm still waiting for a computer baseball game that truly blows me away but in the meantime, there is always the real thing.
This game has many flaws that make this game frustrating at some points though: 2) If your player hits a walk-off homerun, he will not be credited with the homerun in his stats Due to these and many other glitches this game is challenging, but still very fun. I foyu want a great baseball game for your Dreamcast check this one out, it's definitely worth 20 bucks.
Because of all of these glitches, the game is definitley challenging.Because it's hard to "master," it's more fun, but some of these things are very basic that could have been avoided by using a little more care. ... Read more

Editorial Review Let's be honest here. Fishing simulation games aren't for everyone. Many hardcore gamers will likely bypass this title because they believe the genre lacks the instant gratification of fast-moving shooters. That's a shame. Though it might not be everyone's can of worms, Sega Bass Fishing does offer a subtle, highly addictive gaming experience that will challenge even the most seasoned of game veterans. This isn't Quake, to be sure. But you'll need similar gaming smarts and strategies to succeed in this water-based sporting environment. It takes a skilled aim and a steady hand to hook and reel in the largest fish, which are surrounded by smaller, less desirable catches. There's nothing worse than casting your lure directly at a monster-sized bass only to have it intercepted by a meddlesome minnow. We encountered more than our share of near misses, which gives us virtual bragging rights to "the one that got away." While some gamers will prefer the subtlety of free-form fishing sans time constraints, this game also features a fast-action arcade mode that requires the player to meet a minimum quota of catches before advancing to a new fishing environment. An optional Dreamcast fishing controller (sold separately) makes the task of catching these underwater critters all the easier. The controller, which also adds a realistic rumble when you catch a fish, is a highly recommended accessory for the ultimate home fishing experience. --Brett Atwood Pros: Cons: Features Reviews (36)

First off, the game contains all the original frogger games in a retro area. For purposes of nostalgia, or just variety, it's fun to try these retro Froggers. But Frogger is by no means resting on it's past glories. The new stuff just rocks. The soundtrack is fantastic. The video sequences are funny. And the game play graphics are fantastic.Their are 10 levels or soto work through, and it's difficult, but achievable; you won't get stuck on level 2 and be unable to proceed, but it takes several months to work through the levels. And their is good variety between all the levels...one level might be "Frogs in Space"...another level is "Spooky Frogs"...and another level is "The Ancients". The game is the most fustrating game i've ever played. In what other game would your recievers fumble the ball when they are tackled mere inches from the End Zone (sometimes on a first down, sometimes when the game is on the line)? This happened to me at least 3 times in one game! Needless to say it resulted in 3 costly turnovers and I lost the game. The hardest part was the fact that the game was on the EASY level. I expect this kind of CHEAP play on the hardest setting but not on easy. The constant fumbling by players throughout the game is a SERIOUS TURN OFF especially for fans who just want to enjoy a good game. The random and FREQUENT fumbles made this game a worthless piece of junk. The game is also flooded with too many loading screens that get really old really fast when you just want to get into the action. Very poorly designed, Midway. If you still have a bad taste in your mouth from NBA Hoopz then AVOID this game. The graphics are on the same level and the announcer is the same. Do not waste your hard earned money on this poor game! Read the other reviews that warn of the fumbling problem and do not make the mistake I did! PLAY OR RENT BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT GET IT! SPEND THE MONEY ON SOMETHING
I would expect that my credit card would have been credited the amount by now!PLEASE RESPOND.

<<<< The steering is pretty bad once you start, but once you play it for about a week you get the feel for it. There is also no brake button! You just have to let up on the gas. I don't know why it is like that. It also take a century to load! It does only take up 2 blocks of space. <<<< If you are thinking of buying it, The graphics engine is slow, undetailed, staggers along at all times (you'll see 2D sprites posing as trees move toward you with obvious pixel stepping), and is composed of horrid textures.Roads look like oatmeal paste. The cars have octagons for wheels.See the rearview mirrors with their static images!Yes, the mirrors hold 1 image that never changes. The one nice bit of graphics is the available cockpit view, with fairly detailed, working instrumentation. I can also be kinder in regards to the handling. The cars do brake and accelerate with competence and decent response to controls. Some reviews have called the game's driving physics undrivable, and this is patently false. But then there is the matter of meaningless modes with preset and too lengthy lap settings. Then there is the fact that despite a nice variety of cars, you CAN'T choose one with a less-than 150 mph top speed and win. Why?Because the computer always takes the 170-mph models! You just permanently fall behind. Oh, and then there is the OVER 1-minute loading screens which put your DC through a workout before even getting to the second game menu. And then.... The game can be deemed worthwhile for 40 minutes.Try out each vintage racer (15 of them I believe) for a minute then load the next.Add 10 minutes to read the little car history bits in the manual, which is worth more than the game itself.

Amazon.com Review Hoopz is basically the latest generation of basketball games in the ultra-arcadey NBA Showtime or NBA Jam vein and has little in common with the more accurate NBA simulations out there. In most respects it plays slightly better than the older arcade-style titles, if only because Hoopz is a three-on-three game. Most gamers will immediately notice the enlarged heads and huge biceps on even the lankiest of NBA players. Also, the fast-paced action basically centers on hurling the ball around the court as quickly as possible without any regard for complicated play calling. In fact, most ballers can easily jump 25 feet above the rim for ridiculous, death-defying dunks that, of course, deliver the ultimate in sports fantasy. Unlike most of the 2001 season of "real" basketball games for the system, Hoopz stretches gameplay with a few mini games. Included are variants on 21, Around the World, Three-Point Contest, and even the old-school 2Ball that features two-on-two team play. There are also unlockable courts for you to find. You can also easily create your own players and cause havoc throughout the NBA with wild league trades and customizations. While the courts and backgrounds are decently drawn, the player models are disappointingly blocky and fail to capitalize on the system's power. Hoopz gives players a backward walk and the give-and-go, among other moves, but the game's emphasis on shoving, steals, and strategy-defying action confounds these nuances. --Mark Brooks--This text refers to the PlayStation2 version of the game. Pros: Cons: Reviews (6)
Stick to NBA 2K2 which is MAD and leave this as a distant memory!
I was excited when I was on my way home after I purchased NBA Hoopz for my Sega Dreamcast.I was a big fan of NBA Jam during my high school and college years, but I was quite disappointed once I began to play Hoopz. Although Hoopz continues the Midway Sports tradition of no rules-parody sports, I was disappointed that they included foul limits (five per quarter) in this version. One of the best features of NBA Jam or NFL Blitz is that you can do anything to your opponent (shove, clothesline, drop-kick) and get away with it. The audio for Hoopz often causes me to scratch my head. Why do I, as the home team, get booed from the home croud whenever I start getting a hot streak or if I foul an opposing player? I often find my home fans cheering for the other team. The announcers often yell 'rejected' or 'get that shot out of here' even though the ball goes in. I can't help but to laugh when I hear the announcers butcher Peja Stojakovic's last name or when he calls a play wrong. The best thing about this game however, is the fact that it is the closest thing to a modern day NBA Jam.It's a faster paced game than the 'reality based' basketball games which keep me from getting bored. If the minor glitches can get fixed by the time NBA Hoopz 2K2 comes out, I'll be the first one in line to get it.

Amazon.com Review You can play as any NFL team in a variety of modes: practice, tourney, exhibition, season, playoffs, franchise, fantasy, tutorial, and network (againstup to seven other players nationwide). The franchise mode is again one of thegame's strengths, as it offers a variety of scouting and free agency options, letting you customize your roster as a general manager based on the statisticsand financial demands of actual players. Now you can learn what the WashingtonRedskins already know--the salary cap is a cruel mistress. The player animations are again the star of the show. There are literally dozensof potential endings to any collision in NFL 2K2, from stumbling fiveyards after a shoestring tackle to spinning dizzily between two linebackers tosomersaulting through the air after stretching for a catch over the middle. Andalthough the tackles can be spectacular, the game doesn't betray its simulationroots by making them too extreme. These aren't torn from the comics pages, as insome games. Sega Sports has talked up its new passing system quite a bit, and it is bothchallenging and intriguing--perfect for the hard-core simulation expert.Unfortunately, the rest of us are left struggling to complete 5 to 10 passes agame. Essentially, the game asks players to expertly anticipate routes and timethe receiver's catch. This is no easy task in a fast-moving game such as this,as receivers routinely drop wide-open passes on the rare occasions they do getopen, and you'll find your primary receiver blanketed by two or more defensivebacks on most plays. The passing engine isn't overwhelmingly flawed, but averagegamers will need some serious time to overcome the Ravens-like pass defensethey'll face early on. The running game was the original NFL 2K's main weakness, and it remainsthe single biggest improvement over the evolution of the series. Sometimesrunning between the tackles in NFL 2K2 can be a tad too easy and runningoutside can be too challenging, but the game rewards players who see holesdevelop and are adept at cutbacks. It's the small details, though, that make NFL 2K2 the sports simulationtriumph that it is. The commentary--although still prone to calling turnoversincorrectly--is first rate, the on-field player dialogue is highly entertaining, and even the stadium music and crowd chants add to the atmosphere rather thanannoy. The game isn't necessarily worth an upgrade for people who already own NFL2K1, as the improvements aren't dramatic (unless updated rosters are yourmain concern). But for football fans who want one of the best-looking sportssimulations ever made--and who don't mind the initial frustration of lousyquarterback ratings--NFL 2K2 is a Hail Mary come true. --RiversJanssen Pros: Reviews (72)
THE BAD I love this game and recommend this to anyone
One my favorite things about this game is the ability to throw bullets or pop ups its your choice but pop ups are more likely to be intercepeted. Bullets are the best to avoid a defender also note if you try hail mary a bullet it will be pretty crooked far reach from the reciever. The best team to do hail marys is the Rams and Vikings since they have atleast one fast reciever and when there fast you just chuck that ball way out there like a 70 yard throw and you think you over throw to Randy Moss or Isacc Bruce but they smoke almost all dbs and wide open to make the catch if it isnt overthrown. The graphice are amazin like NFL 2k1 all the same moves but require strategy since they canged the way they juke. Well in nfl2k1 you can just pull a juke move and most likely joke al the time with a group of deffender you can get away with this is what [made me mad] in NFl2k1. Now we have NFL2k2 and wel none of the Bullcrap no more since when you sped you recver or running back sows down to make the spins or break the tackle. My most favorite thing is to to a Full NFL Fantasy Draft. i like to choose my players win by one witht he cpu alos taking a few of the good ones makes it challenging and in th eend you can see your stats for yu off and def then you start a fl seaon with the players you choosen the they keep track off eerything including who goes to the probowl. The online play is great! The only thing is when you play with someone your connection affects the game in a way like when you throw the ball to a wide reciever he most likey drop it since the people online just tackle them before it happens I have done it too but when i do it offline its pass interfernce maybe this happens because of 56k modem since I have gotten way with that tackle the guy to make hiim drop trick. Well the online is pretty good if your isp is good has a ranking system and also keeps track of how many wins and losses you have. I give NFL2k2 4 stars since the online play. I never like it when people quit when are about to get a win.

Amazon.com Review In general, this game calls for quicker thumbs and more precision than othergames in the genre, but it also provides a greater sense of accomplishment tothose who get up to speed. The animation of your rider's backflips, grinds, andother aerial maneuvers looks startlingly realistic; and, with 1,300 tricksavailable, chances are that you'll always find a new way to fall off your bike. Most levels are huge and designed so that you can pull off many stunts pertrack. In fact, you must complete some of the harder stunts to win sponsors fornew gear. For all of you kids who are into aggro music, Dave's game featurespopular four-chord acts Social Distortion, Rancid, and the Deftones, as well asrap group Cypress Hill. On the downside, the game's visuals just don't look tremendously better than thePlayStation version. Although they're nicely rendered and decently animated, none of it screams, "128-bit pixel-pushing processing power!" While it won't stun anyone with its originality, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMXoffers an interesting twist on the burgeoning freestyle-stunt genre. --MarkBrooks Pros: Reviews (16)
Gameplay: The controls are easy to learn but hard to master(Wich makes the game fun but challenging). The Graphics are awesome, honestly i havent seen better. The Levels are amazing, They let you do challenges from amatuer, pro, and hardcore wich give you hours of fun challenges. Honestly, this proves that an E game can still be fun. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS GAME.You dont know what your missing out on if you dont
But one thing that no one has mentioned is that this game has some major lag when there's lots of stuff happening on screen -- whether it be a speeding train, or a gaggle of ramps and intersections.I can only compare this game to that of Tony Hawk Pro-Skater, and no matter how fast and crazy my moves are in Tony Hawk, the game never slows down.Well, Dave Mirra does some weird annoying slow-mo effects. Which kinda makes you wonder, is he slow or is he just stupid? ... Read more

Editorial Review The meat of the game is the Blue Impulse tour mode, where you enter several air shows. As you pull off intense and graceful stunts in follow-the-leader type aerobatics, you score enough points and progress to the next of 20 diverse missions. Sky mission mode has you flying through suspended hoops in challenging time trials. Throw in the free flight mode and the beautiful replays, and Aero Wings is a uniquely beautiful and addictive game. --Sajed Ahmed Pros: Reviews (13)
graphics: Horrible music: Even Worse missions; Boring replay value: All of the Above overall rating; 2 stars!(PATHETIC)
The game is the most realistic flight simulator game I have ever played. The realism comes from accurate aerodynamic interpretations of stick movements, flaps, landing gear, etc...If you ever wanted to be a real pilot, then this game is for you.It is such an accurate simulation that it might even help you earn your pilot's license. The game is organized into 3 sections: training, map missions, and free flight. In most games, the training section is a small demo that you just have to get through to get on with the game --- not here!Training is the bulk of the game, and is itself divided into 2 sections -- basic flight training, and advanced aerodynamics. The basic flight training takes you through maneuvers like landing, taking off, rolls, loops. Each training chapter must be completed before advancing. And completing each chapter is not as easy as you may first expect. You get briefed on the training flight, execute it, and then get feedback and rated on how you performed. You are striving for excellence, because the maneuvers must be executed with extreme precision, because the goal of the game is to join an aerobatic flight team similar to the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. The aerobatic training includes maneuvers like barrel rolls around your flight leader, loops in formation, etc...very very tricky, and a complete joy to practice. If you're looking for a "shoot-em-up", then this isn't what you're looking for.But if you're looking for the best flight simulator and aerobatic trainer, then Aero Wings is the game you want.

Amazon.com Review Player faces are much more recognizable, and the resolution and detail of thecourt is higher than it was before. The coaches, too, are more animated--raisingtheir hands in the air as a three-pointer goes up and in--and the crowd is morethree-dimensional and lively. During the game, players will encounter better defense against lay-ups; also, they'll have to break down defenses with quick passing, and post up and backtheir way to the basket. On defense, the computer always looks for easy buckets, which forces players to double-team opponents and keep scorers to theoutside. Franchise mode is the icing on the cake, as players can draft a team, and signtheir own players and free agents by making offers and orchestrating trades. Afew more special offensive moves would have been nice; but, as is, this is amust-have title for fanatic and casual b-ball fans alike. --Robb Guido Pros: Features Reviews (70)

POD Speedzone is an interesting game. There have been many futuristic racing games both in the arcades and on the various consoles.POD Speedzone certainly does not even attempt to distinguish itself from the rest of the futuristic racing games in existence, but it is still rather interesting and fun to play. However, players should DEFINITELY bypass the opening movie. It is not interesting at all.In fact, the opening movie is absolutely unnecessary.Even worse, it is embarrassingly open-ended without having really presented any believable storyline to make such an open ending worthwhile in any way. in POD Speedzone, it is important to become familiar with the controller configuration as quickly as possible.Fortunately, there are five configurations from which to choose, including steering with either the analog stick (which is really rather difficult unless someone is an analog-steering specialist) or the D-pad (the arrow buttons beneath the analog stick). Those coming to the DreamCast now (since there are so many used DreamCast consoles on the market in the States) from the PlayStation/PSOne or the PlayStation2 - both consoles primarily use the D-pad for steering in racing games - will find the analog stick difficult to use for steering, as it is inherently not nearly as precise as the D-pad, and oversteering or overcorrecting is FAR too easy to do with the analog stick. For those who do not have the DreamCast console configured and wired for Internet access and online play, Arcade Mode is the only game mode available (other than Two Players Mode). The game presents a number of cars, each varying in both look and performance; two of the cars are not available, as they are apparently for online use only.Once a car has been selected, a race venue can be selected; again, one race venue is not also available unless online capability has been detected. Each car comes equipped with shields and a fixed amount of Boost.Shields are destroyed due to collisions with ANYTHING, and once shields are gone, the next collision cripples the car and the race immediately ends.Shields and Boost can both be provisionally augmented by collecting the proper power-ups.Weapons are also available to try to blow the competition out of the way. In many situations at most racing venues, the raceway is bounded by metal barriers.Touching these barriers or any other obstacle (including another vehicle) will result in the car's shields fading away due to the incurred damage. In ALL situations, the raceway is extremely narrow, so passing must be done with care; this is an obvious benefit to the race leader, as there is not much raceway to protect when driving defensively. POD Speedzone is interesting, and difficult to master.Players can expect to spend a lot of time with this game.

Editorial Review Stadiums and players are rendered in glorious high-resolution detail, to thepoint where it's easy to recognize a player by looking at his face. Similarly, most of the animations look terrific--especially diving catches and quickacross-the-body throws. We also enjoyed the pitching and batting interface, which is more complex than that found in most baseball games but becomes a lotof fun after a little practice. Unfortunately, the game is all downhill from there. Once a ball is hit, playersare forced to sit and watch the computer field it. The lack of control isabsolutely infuriating, especially since Sega hyped this game's realism from thebeginning of its development. The crowd sounds are anemic and there is no colorcommentary, which is just as well considering how terrible the play-by-playannouncer is. If you really love baseball, you'll really hate World SeriesBaseball 2K1. For casual fans who prefer flashy graphics and a funpitching/batting contest to thorough stat tracking and the ability to field theball, this game is a home run. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (210)
At the end of the game, it tells you the winner, the loser, if there was a save & the homeruns.NO BOXSCORE!!!???I don't know about the majority but I like to base my players starting status on two things.1. Reality (the correct rosters) 2. Game to game statistics. If a player is slacking you have no way of knowing. You can't check in the middle of the game to see what the player is batting on the game. And if you want to change pitchers, you must also call it blind, as they provide no information as to what your players' ERAs might be.Usually games will tell you when a player steps up to bat, how they have faired in that particular game, along with season stats. Here they only provide season stats.I would like a 1-1 today, 2 for 3, etc. This game is not fun.I gave it 2 stars because it looks good.Don't bother buying this game.It will only frustrate you, unless you care nothing for real game play.
Over all the game was okay. ... Read more

The main note that may scare away potential Flag to Flag players is that car control is available ONLY by using the analog stick above the D-pad >:-( This makes car control for aggressive drivers (such as myself) extremely difficult at best, especially on road courses (such as Road America or Burke Lakefront) or street courses (such as Toronto or Detroit). This issue is not quite as glaring when racing at the oval-style circuits (such as Miami homestead). Therefore, those unfamiliar with analog-stick driving who do not have a good amount of time to spend perfecting this driving skill should probably stay away from Flag to Flag. This game does fortunately support a racing wheel; I do not own one, but I suspect that car control will be MUCH easier for players using a racing wheel. Flag to Flag contains only two race modes: Arcade and Championship. This means, unfortunately, that only the most diehard of CART racing fans will be keeping this game for any immense length of time. There are no unlockable items, no bonuses to be gained, no goals to attain (other than simply winning races), so it may be best to just borrow this game from a friend, or from a store which permits games to be returned simply for not liking them. For those who simply want to start racing, this is the place to begin.Arcade Mode races are rather short, however - generally only three or four laps in length - so those looking for longer races should instead turn to Championship Mode (see below).Arcade Mode supports both single-player and two-player capabilities.Since these races are rather short, the player(s) will have very little time to try to maneuver up through the field, which makes the analog-stick car control issue mentioned above all the more crucial to success.Interestingly, players are always kept appraised of the driver of the next car ahead on the circuit (regardless of whether there is a difference in consecutive position and/or laps completed), which will help in learning to recognize which drivers are in which cars (by colors, logos, etc.). Championship Mode is a single-player mode with the goal of winning the CART Drivers Championship for the 1998 season using all of the nineteen 1998 race venues in the actual calendar order. The Drivers Championship is won by having the most points at the end of the nineteen rounds of the season; at each race, the top twelve drivers receive from 1 to 21 points, with the other fifteen entrants not receiving any points.Obviously, consistency across all nineteen rounds of the (1998) CART season is key to winning the Drivers Championship.Fortunately, there are three difficulty levels for Championship Mode; selecting Easy at the beginning of the Championship Mode season will give the player a far better chance of attaining consistency (and wins) throughout the season. It is important to note that Championship Mode is the only mode in the game which permits car set-up customization. Overall, Flag to Flag is an interesting game... but only for a while. In less than a week, all but a very few diehard CART fans will likely tire of this game and move on to other games. One must keep this in mind when considering buying Flag to Flag.
Unlike most other games I've played, this one I can play alone for hours without getting bored. I usually tire of playing single player mode with most games, and only play them with friends. This is Flag to Flag's strength. I can play an entire season and still come back for more. There are a lot of different tracks. From city streets to ovals to airport runways. I started this game on Easy mode, then eventually switched to the medium difficulty, and now play at the hardest level. Also, the AI for the other racers is excellent. Before the race, you can adjust almost every feature with the cars. From the tire types, to aerodynamics, to the gear ratio. This is one the most detailed racing game I've ever played. Worth buying for sure!
