4-0 out of 5 stars Magforce racing
Magforce racing has a wide variety of ships(about 30)!In 5 classes,primetime,class1,class2,class3,and class4. if you like hardcore fast action racing, you'll love this!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Low End of Mediocrity
This is a Wipeout-style racer featuring blazing-fast frame-rates, vibrant colors and violent loop-de-loops on many different futuristic tracks. But each of these good points is lost when combined into the resulting whole.

First, the presentation/interface is inspired by minimalist 2-color graphic design. It doesn't work. There is also no real "championship" or surrounding career modes.Just pick a mag-car and track, then pick another mag-car for that track to start clearing it.Finish the available tracks with available cars and the next "level" appears. That's it.

The racing itself is terribly simplistic, with easy to defeat AI, an OPTIONAL magnetic levitation move, and weak (WEAK) weaponry.I never thought a high-speed, high-framerate racing game could put me to sleep, but here it is!

Add in atrocious "car" models (made of maybe 3 polygons each?!) and lacking music.I actually played through most of Tier 2 just to see what new "3-polygon" models might come up.It wasn't worth the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars MagForce (Killer Loop?)
For those of you who liked Killer Loop for the Playstation, you should love this. That's because it IS Killer Loop under another title. Imagine aswift, smooth, floating pod-racer without the roar. Not much noise oraction, but plenty of speed. A bit untraditional in gameplay. One can'tsimply gun-it to win. One must use the offensive and defensive power-ups togain ground. This makes it a bit more challenging. Excellent lightingeffects. Music is typical techno style.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not exactly Wipeout, but not exactly terrible either.
The first thing you will notice in this game are the graphics. Not because they are good, but because they are some of the ugliest on the SegaDreamcast. Not a promising start, but after the initial shock, if you canREALLY persevere and play MagForce Racing for a while, you will start torealise it is actually half decent.

Although it starts off very slow, after you unlock a few things it really does speed up. There are also lotsof excellent tracks to race on, some of them brilliantly designed. You dohave to stick with the game for a while to unlock these, but they are worththe effort.

If you can forgive the fact that it seems hideous at firstwith its poor graphics, fairly average sound and not great to begin withgameplay, you will find some enjoyment from Mag Force. If more time andeffort had been spent on it, it could have been great and perhaps evencomparable to the Wipeout series of games. ... Read more

Editorial Review

TrickStyle is one of the most stylishly pleasing games. And theDreamcast version really pumps out the pixels with fluid animation that effortlesslyfollows the hoverboard riders along the tracks. One of the game's designers recentlyexplained that the concept behind the game was for riders to find the path of leastresistance, taking one graceful path down the track like "a drop of mercury." Greatconcept. But this drop met many a brick wall on its way to uncertain victory. The tracksin TrickStyle are not player-friendly, and neither are the computer-controlledopponents that act more like flawless robots than flesh-and-blood competitors.

Still, this game looks so darn cool, you can't resist playing it. The requisite tricks fromsnowboarding games are here, but this time they actually add important power-ups toyour repertoire, favoring function over, dare we say, style. To save yourself thefrustration of trying to consistently win races, you should enjoy this game by watchingthe screen while other more nimble or less leisure-time-deficient friends play. --JeffYoung

Pros:

  • Jaw-dropping graphics and animation
  • Functional board tricks
  • Contemporary styling
Cons:
  • Difficult racetracks
  • Unrealistically skilled computer opponents
  • Need to place first in order to progress

1-0 out of 5 stars Futuristic Racing it is, Fun its not!
A title such as Trickstyle has great potential but suffers for designers with little vision! When playiing this game you WILL get the feeling that it needs more. You will go away feeling short changed. The graphics are cool but the control is not. this game is basically flat with little replay value, the tracks are TOO SHORT and there is no real element in the game that makes it a worthy purchase.

PLAY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Secret Codes makes it easier
A few people don't like the game because its difficult to beat. But if you go to any of the popular game websites, you can get free codes which alow you to win ever race, select every hover board, and every stage.

The graphics are great and you get to do a lot of outrageous moves.

4-0 out of 5 stars I would love to see a sequel!
This is still one of my fave DC racing games. There's a futuristic design style that... isn't poorly created, like most games, this is very cool, it feels like a future world. Also, as you're riding, when you fall from a high height or low height, this gives a sense of reality, like you are actually living the opening scene from the original 'Rollerball' film or a hoverboard version of 'Bullit's car chase. I hated having to do Tricks, so maybe a sequel could change the name to "____Style". Thankfully, I didn't have to do tricks much at all. There aren't too many tracks, some feel the same, but they all have worthwhile, unique elements. Racing against a friend may not be easy, as they should learn the course beforehand. I didn't feel the computer was cheating me out of a win I deserved, I feel this game has a fairly normal difficulty level -- it suited me right. I wished I could play tracks as difficult as the last one! Online play for a sequel would be great, can you imagine going against a capable human player on Japan #5 or so? During it I felt as though I was actually playing this game, instead of just driving past scenery with other character models. There are some dodgy control issues, but how should a hoverboard control? The control has equally beneficial abilities too. I enjoyed the Challenges a fair amount too, the VMU game is to be ignored... I disliked the obnoxious characters, and didn't find them 'cool', they are one-note stereotypes and pretty much just dress in a GAP/popstar/jock/foreign-superman way, I wanted to see futuristic punk clothes or something! You may not like this game, but I love it. The music could be better, but it could be worse too, it does what it needs to do, it can be somewhat ambient in it's own techno way, it could've been as unique as the game itself. I wish I could save cheat options like no time limit. This would be an ideal Xbox racer, but it's gorgeous on DC. At least rent to see if it's for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trickstyle
Trickstyle is an awesome 3-d game for tony hawk pro skateboarder game lovers. its like the same thing, but you are on hover boards. lots of characters to chooese from.
