Amazon.com Product Description

In this game, Arthur and his friends want to build the best racer they can. The gameplay is quite simple and easy to learn for young children. Throughout the game, you play as Arthur and get to drive in your racer, solve problems, collect coins, and accumulate Bionic Bunny cards that you can trade for great new accessories for your racer.

Along with enhancing your racer, you'll make your way through town and talk to your friends, help storeowners with tasks, and listen to music. The game has very clear instructions that make it easy and fun. The levels are filled with such elements as spooky bats and ghosts, candy and pets, and stores to shop in that will help you with your racer. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game for small children
I've read the other reviews and if you are considering purchasing this game for a small child, I would not hesitate.I bought this game for my 5 year old son on his birthday and it is the only game he plays on a regular basis. It was easy for him to learn, and he has a blast playing it.My 7 year old daughter also enjoys playing it.This is a wonderful game for small children. It is a great game to promote critical thinking and teaches children to plan ahead.Yes, it does have to "load" after every activity, but this has never bothered my son.The benefits of this game far outweigh any negatives that were mentioned in the other reviews.:)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good game but some major flaws
Even though I am in my mid teens, I do have to say that I enjoy the cartoon show Arthur. When I saw this game for sale, and at a reasonable price I decided to purchase the game. The game in itself is quite easy to understand and easy to complete, though it is quite short.

I enjoy the concept of building 3 levels of a soapbox racer, until the final race and how the Learning Company shows different situations with Arthur and his friends. But it became a hassle that whenever you enter a building or start a minigame or even save that it takes an immense amount of time to load.Because of this loading time it might turn people away from the game.

I would recommend this game for little kids and major Arthur fans.If you are looking at this game just for a quick pickup then I suggest that you stay away.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT GAME FOR ARTHUR FANS
This game was terrific. My son loved it! He was 5 when we bought it it was quite easy for him to control the characters. The characters stayed true to form and carried over their personalities from the television and book series. this game is kid-friendly as well as parent-friendly!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment
My brother got this for his birthday, and he was not fond of it. I'm not either. It has quite a lot of flaws. For one, there
is absolutely no racing. It's soap box racing, beat the fastest time, get the most items. Another thing,it's way too
short. Another, Arthur sounds much different. And for the last, Arthur is annoying at certain times. Do yourself
a favor and save your money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The realistic bike racer Superbike 2000 is packed withreal-world pros--20 in all, including four-time world champion CarlFogarty. Hop aboard racing bikes from six manufacturers, includingYamaha and Ducati. Once you are ready for the road, you get your pick of13 international tracks to conquer, ranging from Monza to Laguna Seca.

Superbike features several modes, including a full season anda practice mode. There is also a race weekend mode, which is simply a polerace with two additional races on a chosen track, as well as single-raceand time trial modes. Bikes and weather conditions can be adjusted tosuit individual tastes.

Two knocks on Superbike are its graphics and excitement level.Colors are a little washed out, while the sim nature of the game mayturn off casual fans. The soundtrack is also a little on the subduedside for such an adrenaline-charged sport. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • The most complete Superbike game on the PlayStation as far astracks and superstars go
Cons:
  • Washed-out graphics and sounds
  • A little less simulation and a little more action would've been nice

5-0 out of 5 stars superbike 2000
On my cumputer.
This is more than just a plain game, this is a simulation. I ride a ducati 900ss on track days and i can say that this game is realy well made. At the begening you can ajust the setting so at the begening it is easy to ride, set realistic mode and than you have to ride whit accuracy, you can slide the bike whit the throtle in curve, just turn the stick to the opposite of the curve like in real life! You can lock the front wheel. wheelie is possible but the bike are on close ratio racing transmission so it is a bit harder than street bike like in real. Stoppies are not possible. Playing championship mode is very very realistic. You can 'tried' to beat the best time lap indicate by real life record. You whil ear commentary whit the same voice at on tv! The graphic are excelent. If you whant just a game, there is many out there, if you whant a simulation that recreate to this days the closer to real life, this is the one. And after playing a while you gone to realise how good the real superbike racer are.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rent it just to see how bad it is.
This game takes all the fun out of motorcycling, especially the thrill of riding a Ducati superbike.I literally smile every time I hop on my 748 and fire up that L-twin.There is no sense of speed whatsoever in the game, and the sound and graphics are terrible, even for the dated platform. If EA had polled any sportbike riders, each would have agreed that they love the ability to "flick" their bike through turns and corners. All the bikes in this game feel heavy, and lack any character.Even as a sim for the hard-core superbike fiend, the game just does not pass muster. If I rode into a barrier going 130, the bike would disintegrate and I would be thrown several yards. The bike would not just bounce off the wall with a dull thud, and I would NOT be able to wheelie on.Wheelies are controllable in real life, but not so in this game -- once you hit that throttle, you're on one wheel.(Unlike GT2, there is no ability to control that throttle).I bought the game just because I love anything motorcycles, but this was perhaps the most disappointing game I've purchased to date.Motoracer World Tour is a much better racer, even though it is more arcade-oriented (and IT'S not that great of a game).EA, like so many other software developers, have released a game just for the sake of releasing it.Avoid this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Whoops
That's exactly what I said after trying this game after purchasing it.The best part is the intro, which is the only reason I haven't traded it in, and I'm a bike racing fanatic. The graphics are poor, gameplay is totally unrealistic.Keep the throttle pinned throughout the lap, and the game slows down for you!Definitely looking forward to GP500 on the PS2.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just Like You're On the Bike!
This game is highly recommended, as it is the closest to the real thing that I've seen yet.It is also very inexpensive unlike many other games out there. If you like riding motorcycles, or just enjoy the sport, you have to get this game! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good Duble pack for two great games.
This is a good combination of Driver 1(1999) and Driver 2(2000) both games feature the one cool charricter, Tanner, on Driver 1 its al about getaways from cops or catching a rivals car and crashing it to pieces but before all of that you have to have a lawfree driving test in a underground car park where you have a list of menoviours to do whithin 60 seconds.the main thing you have to do in Driver 2 is to steal cars,Follow people who are believed to be witnesses of the gun raid in the Red Driver bar or the deal between Lenny and a Brazilian Gangman and also to follow poeple on foot.I would reccomend this Double pack to any one who likes car jacking feature and action also to Girls and Boys 9 and over as well as adults who may like the foul language thats more suitable for em. cya. by F.G.,Coventry,England. ... Amazon.com Review

If you're a fan of motorcycle racing games, then you might want to booksome private time with your trusty game console. Acclaim's motorcycle racer hasplenty of good ideas going for it, but substandard follow-through and too-easyraces keep it trapped in the middle of the pack.

In addition to the standard Gran Turismo-esque races, licensing tests, and upgrades, Ducati World offers a number of innovative gameplayoptions. For example, the game's challenge mode allows players to choose theirbikes and put money on the line in a head-to-head race. It might be gambling, but at least it's cheaper than racing for real pink slips.

While the game has plenty of bikes to choose from, including several from yearsgone by, the racing is at times so easy that most seasoned gamers will soonstart looking around the room for other discs to spin. A collection of gameplaymodes will keep the attention of hard-core bike enthusiasts, but this game willseem to others as rushed as an impromptu game of chicken. Ducati World'sgraphics are dated, and its music is simply terrible. --Todd Mowatt --Thisreview refers to the Dreamcastversion of this game

Pros:

  • Wide selection of bikes
Cons:
  • Choppy and sometimes distorted animation
  • Substandard graphics and sound effects

4-0 out of 5 stars Desmo fans repent!!!
Ducati World Racing Challenge is the best motorcycle game for PSX!!It plays just like GT and GT2 in that you must earn your licenses, compete in different leagues with different requirements, buy different bikes and upgrade them as you earn cash. theres even a 2 player split screen mode. Sound is great, as is the detail to the bikes, which there are over 40 models to choose from such the 900SS, 750 Monster, 748, and the Desmodromic god of all sportbikes, the 996.There are a few drawbacks however. All the bikes are Ducatis (which isnt really a drawback considering it is their game after all), the graphics could be smoother, and although the techno-beat soundtrack is kinda cool, it would have been better to have a more diverse collection of soundtrack tunes ala GT2, Tony Hawk 1&2 etc, etc.

All in all, a very nice game, way better than that steaming pile "Superbike 2000" by Electronic Arts.If your into bikes, racing, or are just a die-hard gamer, "Ducati" will not leave you disappointed!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Ducati World is the best racing game out there!
Ducati World Racing Challenge is the best racing game available today! There are a ton of awesome, super-realistic bikes to race, and the Ducati Life Mode plays just like Gran Turismo. The graphics are awesome, and the gameplay is so realisitc that you actually feel like you are riding on a real Ducati! I used to love having my friends over to play video games, but now I hate it because all they do is fight over who gets to play Ducati next. This game is a must buy for any racing fan! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars my review (please read)
Well personally i am a nascar fan and have all the nascar games from 1996-2002 :). 2001 one was one of the better ones, although i think 2000 was a bit better but 2001has better graphics and more realistic gameplay. but the best one yet is nascar2002, over all nascar 2001 is a good game and is worth its price.

4-0 out of 5 stars The racing game for racing fans.
I think this game is the best nascar game yet. It has new drivers, and new tracks like Daytona. It's the most realistic racing game ever. It has awesome wrecks because of how long they last, but they don't happen alot. The only thing I would change would be the frequency of the wrecks. This game is for the racing fans. The music is cool because it's new and it goes with the racing. The fans look real and when you wreck, your most likely to flip your car. So if your looking fora nascar game for playstation, this is one of the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Its Cool
This game if the best nascar game they have had out for 01...great graphics and more of a selection of cars and tracks including daytona...

5-0 out of 5 stars Seems very real and has loads of options
This game has massive capabilities.First you decide if you want to quick race, race once or start a season. On a quick race, it picks the car for you.On the other two you pick your own car which includes the ability to design your own car. There are probably about 20+ colors to pick from and then you pick the logos you want on the hood, the roof, the deck and the back. There's an ok selection of logos and you'll definitely find at least a few that appeal to you.You decide if you want your car to be a Ford, Chevrolet or Pontiac and then get to racing.
After you pick your car, you have to decide which track you want to race at.This is the fascinating part. Each track is set up like the real Nascar tracks. You can race Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta and tons of others. If you hit a wall, your car drives like it.If you wear your tires out, you have to get new ones or you won't stay off the wall. You can draft, pass, push, flip and slip. When you pit, you decide if your tires need to be changed or if any repairs are needed and you get more gas.You can have music playing and/or commentaries or just listen to the roar of the engines. This game is eerily real and loads of fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars NASCAR 2001 Review
NASCAR 2001 is a fine game if you're not into NASCAR, but if that's the case then you should be buying Gran Turismo 2 or Ridge Racer R4.If you are into NASCAR like myself than this game is a disappointment to say the least.

If you've ever played any of the NASCAR Racing series of games from Sierra/Papyrus on your PC then stay away from NASCAR 2001 (or any of the other NASCAR games on the Playstation) as they don't even come close.

The game looks alright and does have some nice touches, but it is so unrealistic in terms of racing that you will quickly grow frustrated.Take the effect of the draft for instance.Get anywhere close to the back of the car in front of you and you will slingshot by in next to no time regardless if the track is Bristol or Talladega. Not only is this not realistic, it also takes away the ability to race side by side.Other problems include the fact that NASCAR 2001 only allows 18 cars in the race, their isn't the option for pace laps just a countdown from 3 and that the commentary is very limited and dull.

Bottom line is this:Get Gran Turismo 2 if you have a Playstation, or better yet get NASCAR Racing 4 for your PC. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars decent...
This is definitely a rent before you buy type of game. First off, there is a pretty good amount of vehicles in the game which allows for somewhat of a reply value. The cars you race, however, are not what you might expect. If you're tired of racing exotic supercars, doing 200mph+, then the cars in this game are a nice change of pace; and that's really what I liked about playing this game: racing station wagons and trucks, etc. Call me crazy, but driving ferraris and porches and etc., simply get boring game after game.

As for racing itself, you're going against the clock and against computer cars. Kind of like a checkpoint, yet you still have the beat the other cars. And, let me tell you this is why you want to rent this game first. I had it for 5 days, and got every single car, track, and beat the stunt mode. A couple of the slower cars, or the ones w/ poor handling will give you some trouble, but the more you play the game, the easier everything becomes. The graphics aren't too bad, and as the name suggests, it tried to eliminate any pop-ups or the "vanishing point" in the horizon, and accomplished that task. The car models also look very nice, and the game really isn't too bad. I just wouldn't pay [much for it] Either way, rent it first or try it at a friends before you throw money at it. You just never know.

2-0 out of 5 stars happily "vanished" from my collection
i dont make any money winning driving games, but i would consider myself a pro. i have all the "super licenses" on Gt3/ ps2, and pride myself on beating other race games. so i kept "vanishing point" in my collection and would return to it to give it another shot every now and then to see why i havent played it in so long. it didnt take long to figure it out. the only thing enjoyable about this game is the "stuntman" challenge section, other than that this game will make you so frustrated you will break controllers and mabey more. the graphics are fine but, i couldnt get anywhere, even after hours of dedication. RENT BEFORE YOU BUY!!!i finally traded out this waste of disk space for "V-Rally 2", and now i enjoy myself again.p.s.: anything that says NFS on it will make you smile!

1-0 out of 5 stars Vanishing Point
I was like alot of people.I boughgt into the hype of this game and to tell you the truth thats all it was...hype.Sure there are tons of cars but getting to them is the tough part.

The major problem with the game is..did all the tracks have to be made of ice?Try cornering at any speeds and you slide into a wall.Get bumped at any speeds and you spin. This game is just awful and I wish I would I rented it first and saved my 40 dollars for something better.

2-0 out of 5 stars Wannabe Gran Turismo
I don't really like GT either but at least that game wasnt COMPLETELEY ridiculous. This is one of those games that fill the text on the back with great vehicles and you turn the game on to find out that three are unlocked. (Actually, in the case of this game there are two) Also, the cars handle like wet marbles and you get spun out frequently by other racers while they are untouchable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terribly Under-rated
This is simply a very good racer. It has a slight learning curve and the cars feel sloppy at first. But then it it gels together, the physics engine makes sense (and remains consistent throughout) and the hectic fun begins.

This is not for the ham-fisted gamer. You need to balance aggression against the ever-threatening loss of traction. You're always on the brink of spinning in the rear-drive cars, but when the physics engine is understood, you're 99.5% on the brink..but not OVER it!Which makes this an incredibly exciting arcade-style racer!

On the other hand, there are many cars to win, and many of these can be handled by any of the novices that seem to have found this game wanting. Most of the front-drivers are very tight on the road, and you can torture yourself with any of several slow VW's if you wish, which makes driving as simple as in Gran Turismo.

This game is one of the purest examples of people simply not seriously attempting to bridge a new control scheme or new idea in videogames. For shame, as this game has so many extras to unlock, a great stunt mode, and a well-populated Internet Challenge (instantly updated trophy races against other racers nationwide, which gets VERY competitive).

Why 4 and not 5?I don't like the secondary emphasis on earning car adjustability, something which always compromises the design of racing games by introducing excessive variables into the times earned. The presence of these many, many adjustments (chassis, etc) slightly confuses the Arcade nature of the game, even though one can play the game without ever touching them (and indeed most modes actually disallow them for the very reason mentioned, timing consistency). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Realisic and fun
F1CS2000 is an excellent game. The set up menu covers all the aspects of real racing. And what you change effects the handling and speed of your car. The training mode is a must if your new to F1.
The circuits are realistic and the graphics are good. I recommend a steering wheel with pedals. I iue the Cat2 and it really adds to the realistic feel of actually driving. And don't cut corners or drive like a NASCAR driver or you will get a 10 sec. stop and go penalty or worse case you will receive a black flag.
I highly recommend this game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, butcould be a lot better
F1 2000 is the best F1 sim I've seen since Psygnosis's F1 '97.The handling is precise, with all the understeer that is talked about with current F1 cars and the braking is okay.Although it has an annoying tendency to lock the wheels when braking at slow speeds.I like being able to specify pit strategy for all the sessions at the start, but it would be nice to be able to modify this while in the pits (you can change your pit window during the race, but that's it) when testing different fuel loads. The driving views are excellent, especially the in-car angle and the courses are realistically depicted (which is expected) and rendered quite smoothly.Car damage is depicted well, although it is still possible to T-bone a wall and not lose anything from the car or change the handling characteristics.Basically, this game is well suited to someone not interested in serious F1 racing, but who wants to have a fun evening pounding around a few tracks.

For those that are into super realistic F1 simulations, you may want to wait for another version. This game has several annoying bugs in it and has the feel of an advanced beta. Here are a few of the problems I've encountered:

1.Sound.There are multiple bugs in the sound, most notably in Monaco, where the echoing engine sound in the tunnel gets reversed with the normal engine sound after a couple of laps into the race.Secondly, the engine sound occasionally disappears entirely when starting a lap in either practice, qualifying or a race and will only come back after restarting the game.

2.Playability.It is ridiculously easy to win regardless of the level of difficulty.Normally, a perennial backmarker like Minardi should never be able to challenge McLaren, yet it is easy to take pole in any race and lap the field with any car.Part of the reason for this, is the game never pushes the other cars even close to their cornering limits, having them brake at least 15 m too early in some cases. Finally, the game slows everything down when cars are in close proximity. This makes it extremely hard to play, as you have to use an entirely different set of braking points when you are near other cars as opposed to when you're driving alone.

3.Weather/Tyre type. The car handling doesn't change noticably from dry to wet weather. The only real difference is that there is more wheel spin when you put the hammer down from either a standing start or when moving slowly.Directly related to this is the fact that you have no control over tyre type when going into the pits. The track could be bone dry, but if the race started out wet, you have to stay on wets all throughout the race (or practice/qualifying).

Overall, this is a decent sim, but needs a fair amount of work.I eagerly await F1 2001...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent F1 Game with Great Playability for PSX/PS2
F1 Championship Season 2000 is an excellent step up from the former F1 2000.Both games are enjoyable, but most importantly, they're both driveable, unlike virtually all the F1-based games for PSX (except the Greatest Hits game Formula1).

Those who have previously played F1 2000 will instantly recognize that F1CS2K is largely based on its predecessor. However, the physics engine has been updated, including new car set-up options (such as Rear Spoiler).Due to the upgraded physics engine, it is difficult to use the same driving approaches in both games, but F1CS2K's physics engine actually increases both playability and believeability... and overall survival at Monaco!!

However, F1CS2K provides more features than its predecessor. For those just beginning with F1 racing games, Training Mode is absolutely important, allowing the player to both learn the courses (including corner/segment names) and receive visual and auditory tips and feedback concerning each course's corners and tricky areas.Scenario Mode is great for everyone from novices to experts, challenging all players to raise their skill level as they progress through its fourteen stages of real-world F1 racing concerns, from simply finishing at or above a certain position, to coping with problems such as engine misfire.

The visual detail is quite impressive.Clouds are reflected on the shiny surface of the cars. The grooves on the tires attract the eye. There are still some minor pop-in issues as certain textures/patterns come into view, but this is really barely noticeable, especially when contending with a large pack of traffic.

The sounds are better overall. Most impressive is the higher-pitched sounds of the cars, closer to actual F1 engines. This higher pitch also carries further, allowing the player to better hear other cars located elsewhere on the circuit. The team radio provides more information, which can be of great benefit to the attentive player.

My only major complaint is the French-language option of the game.I speak fluent French, but the voice heard over the radio is extremely difficult to understand. This is not simply an issue of divided concentration (focusing on the race and focusing on the voice); the problem is the voice-acting itself.

One tip which will definitely help in playing virtually all racing games:Buy or rent any game of the Gran Turismo series and complete all the license tests.Among other things, the license tests will teach how to handle different types of cars and how to approach different types of corners in both flat and hilly conditions. The latter is especially important to F1 racing; for example, the Interlagos circuit itself has 90-degree corners, J-turns, chicanes, and severe elevation changes, including the deadly left-hand steep-downhill Turn 1 at the end of a lengthy stretch of flat-out acceleration.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Improvement.
I wrote a fairly nasty review of the original F1 2000, but this game is a vast improvement over it's predecessor. It's still kind of hard to destroy your car with one impact, but overall the damage is much more severe. Also, it's still pretty easy to win, but this version is much more believable and the competition tries harder that ever: i find it fun when two cars just ahead try to run each other off the road.

I still find it annoying that you can't juggle your fuel load one or two laps either way. On the other hand, it's amazing the amount of detail in the graphics now, including being able to see all the grooves on the rain tires!

On the whole, a lot of fun and the closest thing to watching real F1 racing I've found yet(on the PlayStation, at least).

5-0 out of 5 stars A virtually flawless game
However, there is one flaw (and it can be a big one for some)and I'll get it out of the way first. The game is faily easy even at it's highest level. I can start a race as a lesser racer at the expert level in the 22nd postition and have the lead by lap 2 or 3 at the latest. The opponents simply are not fast enough. They will qualify at blistering speeds but come race time they will be 10 to 15 seconds off the pace. I'm willing to overlook this flaw because the rest of the game is brilliant.

There is the usual time trial and scenario modes that add to the other indiviual or championship modes. The incredible feature is the training mode... where you race along the course with the use of visual aids to help in braking an throttle points with the accurate commentary of an instructor. This can be repeated and analyzed with various grade scales for each turn. It's impressive.

The test day feature in a championship weekend is enjoyable too. You can tweak your car, take it out on the track and then view the telemetry with all the appropriate overlays and a TV style presentation of your recorded action on the track. Again... it's impresssive.

The damage physics are not pure... they are lenient with the car up until a certain point. One or two bumps.. your fine. After that expect some damage. I would say it is 90% sim and 10%arcade. These cars have a lot of grip compared to the Expert level on F1 World Grand Prix... which was like driving on ice.

If your an absolute simulation person... Jarret and Labonte Racing is your current ticket.
