Amazon.com Review

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater from Activision became a megahit lastfall. Since then, dozens of companies have tried to bring fringe sports likesurfing, sky diving, and other "me, too" extreme sports titles to market, andall of them looking to cash in on the craze. Up until now, none have matched thequality or replayability of Tony Hawk, and only a small few have comeclose, including this month's challenger, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX fromAcclaim.

Instead of using a skateboard to race against the clock and perform dangerousmidair stunts for points and prestige, this game is all about daredevil BMX bikeriding, so that players can aim to pull off a "Superman," "Icepick," "Tailwhip,"or "Toothpick." In total, there are over a dozen unique environments, such asCamp Woodward's backbreaking "Lot 8" or the San Jose Ramp Club, to name two.

First, players must select their rider of choice, be it repeated World Championbiker Dave Mirra, 1999 Dirt Circuit Champion Ryan Nyquist, or eight other starsof the sport. Each of the riders enjoys his own signature moves, plus even moreriders can be unlocked over time. However, there is no create-a-player feature,as there is with a few other games of this kind.

Fortunately, controlling the rider is a cinch to learn for younger or novicegamers, and there's enough substance here to keep players pedaling long afterthe goals are met. In fact, along with the "Free Ride" mode, the timed "Session"mode, and the challenging, career-based "Proquest" mode, there are 10 differenttwo-player games, including our favorite, dubbed "B-M-X", in which the secondplayer has to mimic the first rider's moves (remember basketball's H-O-R-S-Evariant?).

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX's visuals are only satisfactory, with nothingreally to kick heels about. The 3-D engine brings a few annoying screen"pop-ups" (objects and backgrounds awkwardly disappear on occasion, as ridersmove in relation to the "camera") and "clipping" problems (in which the ridergets stuck mysteriously) that probably could've been ironed out with a few moreweeks in development. And, while the midair stunts and crashes look painfullyreal, the game also seems to lack a convincing sensation of speed.

But, even with its shortcomings, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is a rad BMXarcade sim that proves that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, whilestill the king, is not the only game in town. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Controls are easy to learn
  • Great two-player games
Cons:
  • Annoying "pop-up" and "clipping" problems
  • No create-a-player feature

This is the best game EVER. Get it or be square

3-0 out of 5 stars A good game
Ok so here is the deal. I bought this game on amazon, took it out of the box, and started to play. I noticed the graphics were very bad but the game is pretty neat. Over all, this game is worth every penny you pay.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre title
It's common for game developers to borrow ideas from other popular games - in hopes that their own game receives the same kind of widespread success. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX represents Acclaim's attempt to cash in on the extreme sports phenomenon started by Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and, as a result, the basic game mechanics should seem very familiar to fans of the skateboarding game. To its credit, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX introduces some new elements to the extreme sports subgenre. Unfortunately, the game has a number of both major and minor flaws. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX's options are typical of an extreme sports game. The proquest mode is essentially a career mode that lets you select from a lineup of the world's best BMX freestylists to play as. It also lets you earn new sponsored clothing, new levels, and new bikes. Each track has a series of objectives that start at an amateur difficulty level and then steadily increase in difficulty after you complete them. In fact, the default bike just isn't good enough for accomplishing some of the later, more difficult objectives, so there is substantial incentive for obtaining faster and more maneuverable bikes. Even so, the proquest mode may be a little too easy for extreme sports veterans, since the game visibly highlights the obstacles associated with objectives you need to complete. However, this should be a welcome feature for those who are new to the genre. The game's two remaining modes - freeride and session - are practice modes in which you can race around on a track, with or without a time limit. Unfortunately, these modes are mostly worthless for practicing in, since some tracks - particularly the backyard pools area - constantly change as new areas open up and as you complete more objectives. The gameplay in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is solid, if perhaps lacking in originality. Just as in Tony Hawk, pressing a series of button combinations makes you perform tricks on your bike. The more complicated your combination is, the more points you receive. Unfortunately, even executing the simplest trick isn't as easy as it should be. The first problem is that when you're facing the camera, you have to press "up" to turn your bike around. In theory, it's the ideal way to address camera problems, but in practice, the sluggish controls really prevent this maneuver from being useful. Another minor problem is the game's collision detection. Most of the time, it's easy to judge your distance from the ground or from an obstacle, which makes trick execution ideal. However, there are times when your bike seems to clearly miss an obstacle, but you'll still crash as though you ran right into it. The inconsistent collision detection also becomes a problem when you attempt to perform grinds - sometimes your bike can connect with an obstacle from an unrealistic distance, and other times, you need to be very precise and land right on the object you want to grind. Visually, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is on par with other multiplatform ports of extreme sports games. A few impressive textures appear here and there, like on the various riders' helmets, but the rest of them are fairly bland and pixelated. The bike rider models are not incredibly detailed, but there are enough subtle differences to help you recognize the differences among each of the riders. Oddly enough, even though the various environments and the character models are essentially taken straight from the PlayStation version of the game, slowdown and drops in frame rate can still be a major problem in areas with numerous objects. The slowdown usually dissipates after a second or two, but it can affect gameplay, especially if you want to perform a complicated trick in a detailed area during the last seconds of the round. The game has plenty of other small visual problems as well, like the crash animations. Since there are no pre-scripted crash animations, your rider will just go flying like a limp rag doll whenever you hit something. It's humorous at times; however, it's generally very awkward and unrealistic.
Other than the proquest mode, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX doesn't have much else to offer. There are no multiplayer modes, which is unfortunate since most of the latest extreme sports games have found ways to incorporate different types of multiplayer modes, either online or on a single computer. In the end, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX can be fun, but the occasional problems with the graphics and collision detection can quickly become a source of unnecessary frustration.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Game I bought for Playstation 1
Most of the reviews are really positive.

Some have said they lost interest in this game.Did you try the adventure game? For those of you not familiar with this game.THere is the standard race, a twisted metal combat game and as I mentioned the adventure game.

Let me tell you about this game. You start out with a limited cast of players and cars. Some said that the cars are too hard to control, but if you play the adventure game you can win additional cars. You can win additional characters too.And you can win additional tracks. If you make it thru the adventure game you will have all characters and all the cars available for each character.

What is the adventure game you ask?Well, you have a time limit to drive your muppet characters car around and explore. You pick up objects in that time limit. You get all the stars you get sometime. You find one of the racers not currently available...you then race them and if you win that character is available.I mean honestly I can not get into detail enough to tell you everything on this game.Really I rarely have enough interest in a game to finish, but this game I kept with it and I did.

I just received a Playstation 2 and hope this game plays on my playstation 2.I doubt my memory card will work but I will have to play this game through so I have a fully stocked game.

Honestly, in my opinion this was the best game I purchased for my Playstation 1 system in all the year.If you can find it get it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what expected
Having grandkids who love the muppets, I thought this would be a great game. I found they hadlost interest in it quickly (unusual for a playstation game.) The reason was you had to keep your eyes on the screen constantly. The Christmas part was cute and fun, but the others ( 25 characters to choose from) became boring. They still love the Muppets, but gave the game to a friend. I was glad since it was only frustrating them.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hard to control
This game is very difficult and the racers are hard to control.I got this for my daughter as a Christmas gift in 2000 and she was 7-1/2 at that time. She tried to play it several times and has found it very difficult and frustrating to play.I've tried playing it myself and found it very difficult to control. It definately is not a Crash Team Racing, which was easier to play.

Unless you can get this game at a substantially reduced price or for free I wouldn't waste the money on it as it is a difficult game to play & control.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Muppet lover's dream
This is a wonderful game.Although the controls can be very frustrating at times, there is so much to do on every single board, that it takes hours and hours to complete. There are even hidden bosses.I would highly recommend this game to someone who has a good background knowledge of the Muppets. The movie clips are a lot of fun, and there are many voice clips to make it interesting and fun, too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun while it lasts
My son saved up his allowance for this.He is 7....My son actually loved it.It's fast paced, real fast paced. You have to be glued to the screen, literally or you will miss something as you race on by.He laughed a lot,but I am pretty sure he never quite figured out what he was doing. He stuck to one area of the game a lot,and I think it may be due to the fact that the other areas were a bit confusing.Thats makes for a difficult decision then. Most 7 year olds are very adept at playing and figuring out video games..... so should I reccomend this?Yes,for the money and the laughs,it's well worth it.In a world filled with many many violent video games, seeing the Muppets zoom on by was rather refreshing for a change. He does not play it a lot,but when he does,he plays for more than 30 minutes if we let him. ... Editorial Review

Superb graphics and fast action characterize 989 Studios' daredevil motocross game Jet Moto 3. Designed for one or two players, this game expands on the original two Jet Moto games with improved visuals and controls.

After choosing from a selection of characters (each with varying strengths), you can traverse four different courses using a futuristic all-terrain cycle. The well-designed tracks will challenge even veterans of the earlier Jet Moto titles. You will feel the cycle slipping on the ice of the Khumbu Icefall and develop a lump in your stomach as you jump over Devil's Canyon. On the down side, close-up views are difficult to manage, as the field of vision can easily be lost. This is especially a problem in the two-player, split-screen view.

While some gamers may grow tired of this game fairly quickly, there is enough meat here to keep racing fans interested until the courses are mastered. Learning the subtleties of each course can prepare hard-core racers for the game's more advanced seasonal competitions and racing circuits. --Sal Barcia

Pros:

  • Superb graphics
  • Design improved over previous Jet Moto titles
Cons:
  • Close-up views are difficult to manage
  • Non-racing fans may grow bored quickly

5-0 out of 5 stars this game shows me what speed is toward my hands
this game is gooood its twice better than jet moto 1 or 2, (well im not sure of that because i forgot how jet moto 2 is.) alot as how ive seen in this webiste mentions that jet moto 2 is quite best than jet moto 1 and 3, but if you are someone that wants to have new jet motors, good features, outstanting, creative racetracks, than this is the game for you.
what was funny is that i taught this game was going to be a normal race game like any other.. like if i would start in a normal lowering speed as how you normally do when you speed up with a car. but, when i accelerate on this game.. you start speedin up already and goin out there crazy! this game is real wild. myself,i enjoy the game because it feels good going in a good high speed, even when your starting off from the beginning. in a few minutes when i played the game, i got used to the controlling. i find it easy but what is really fun is the way you can ride on something so fast while making a challenge with many other different racers on the game.
the game is interesting while hearing the great good quality music the game gives from each level. that is something that makes me like games.. thing is, the music expresses each level of the game. my favorite are from the khambu race track (the racetrack with the iceroads). as a matter of fact, i like all the songs. they are all great. makes me wanna turn my surround speakers and pump it up.
as how ive said, the game is good, its really good. this is a great experience to speed... especially on my own hands. if you try this game, make sure you get jet moto 2.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stick with JM 1&2
Go back NOW!JM3 is a marketing ploy. The first two Motos are great; the physics of the bikes are realistic. The third one, however, goes off of the deep end.Control of the bikes is jerky and the graphics aren't fluid.I bought JM3 because I had so much fun with the other two...... big mistake! This one should have been the first... a lot of kinks still needing to be worked out.The worst game in my collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars If it's action you want, you'll find it here
I guess I don't know where to begin. This game is really good. It's got its share of flaws but it's still fun. The good sides first. The gameplay has a really fast, fluent style and the grapples work much better than they did in the previous game. The novice courses aren't too hard, but they get harder. Catacombs seems like a pure nightmare at first. Then, the professional courses get even harder. The Machu Picchu course is out of control and almost every part of the terrain is extremely narrow. I won't tell you what happens after you beat Professional mode. Another fun thing is the stunt courses you get when beating certain levels of the game like the deformed Circus Park you get for beating Semi-pro mode. The graphics aren't the greatest in the world, but they do. But the thing is, if you don't have a memory card, you'll get pretty sick of the game because you need to save your progress on a memory card, or you'll be playing Novice courses the whole time which isn't much fun. Also, some of the courses are extremely hard to figure out like they don't have a set path. Courses like Shipwreck Cove, Volcano Island, and Machu Picchu can be very hard to understand at first because the levels are too open. Besides that, it's a blast. Buy it but get a memory card too.

1-0 out of 5 stars This one has run out of gas...
Jet Moto 3 unfortunately comes up short in comparison to the first two games. The control is kinda iffy, the graphics aren't really that great, and the two player mode is unbearable.Do yourself a favor and go afterthe first two instead, they're much better constructed than this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars One more thought on JM3
My first post "Jet Moto 1 and 2 were great, but JM3 fell a little short"(or at least I remember calling it something like that) says it all.Well, it actually says *most* of it.I just thought I should add something very key:this game can be very frustrating. It's hard tomaster- especially if you're used to the first 2 Jet Motos.Once you learnit, this game can be very amusing; although the crash detection will mostlikely always be annoying.

I also noticed that, just like with the first2 JMs, two player mode really is awful. No matter which way the screen issplit, you practically have tunnel vision and is can be very dizzying(andimpossible).Well, just a thought. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good ride
This game is a very smooth ride. I loved it. I couldn't put it down once it came in the mail. Still, I was somewhat disappointed with how easy it was to win the championship. All it seems to take is a course with enough nintey degree turns. You can always make those turns faster than the rest of the cars for some reason, no matter who you play with. So, the game is fun and runs smoothly, but pretty much anyone with a steady hand will defeat the first try.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am 12 yrs old and I enjoy this game.Me and my dad play with it at night. He likes it because you can set it up to do black flags and yellow flags and turn the damage on.If you just like racing you can turn all that stuff off.My only complaint is that you can't turn on black and yellow flags on 2 player.BUY THIS GAME!

4-0 out of 5 stars I mean its fun, but you need more cars for each race
Both the first game and this one are pretty fun, but you need more than 16 cars to be a real race. Also, when are they going to make a NASCAR game that has some real crashes.I know its just a game but I think that some more smoke and visual damage to cars would be cool.I mean you can bump cars all the time in this game and nothing ever happens. It was still fun, but it could be better

5-0 out of 5 stars simply entertaining
Me and my dad have always enjoyed playing racing games. Well this game isn't any typical racing game, it has over 15 authentic tracks straight from the NASCAR circuit. It also has anough cars to satisfy any enthuisist. Also hidden racers and cars along with hidden tracks to be unlocked adds some variety to the gameplay. I enjoyed it and would reccommend it to anyone, also its only 20 bucks now!

4-0 out of 5 stars Truly good racing

Amazon.com Review

Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX uses a refined version of the gameengine found in the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The modes, menu, and trick system are identical. The main difference is thatinstead of skating around, performing tricks, and collectingvideotapes, you're riding a bike, performing tricks, and collectingmagazine covers. To accommodate the physics of bicycle tricks, thelevel design is different from THPS. Some of the levels aregood, but most are relatively bland and aren't as clever as what we'veseen before. Despite this flaw, it is the best BMX game currently onthe market, but in the context of other extreme sports games it fallsshort. It's too similar to the original THPS and not as good asTHPS2.

Despite the fact that it's mostly derivative, the game has a fewoutstanding features. It contains lots of full-motion video sequences, albeit at the expense of load times. The real gem is the soundtrack, which is a nice mix of punk, electronica, hip-hop, and rock. It'sdefinitely one of the best video game soundtracks ever.

If you're looking for the best BMX game on the PlayStation, this is it.If you're a fan of extreme sports in general, you'd be better servedwith THPS2 or waiting for THPS3. --Raymond M.Padilla

Pros:

  • Outstanding soundtrack
  • Gamers familiar with the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series will feelright at home
  • Plenty of full-motion video
Cons:
  • Long load times
  • Mediocre level design
  • Not enough enhancements from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

this is the coolest. For anyone wanting to do freestyle tricks move to MHPB2!!!!like doing tricks like the sufer or FPEG Stand To Expandable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Darn Good
I haven't unlocked every level on this game yet, but from what I've unlocked so far I would say that this game is pretty darn good. I mean, who cares about the graphics? C'mon. I bought this game with some of my birthday money at GameStop. I couldn't wait to play it. As soon as I got home I jammed it in my console and started playing. I was hooked! I didn't like the first level, mostly because I had played it already in the THPS2 demo, but the next level, Construction Yard, was AWESOME! And to those people who say this game is easy, they must be sick in the head. This game constitutes a good challenge. Especially the level I'm on now. Can't wait to get to the next level. I'm gonna push myself...
Anyway, if you want to get this game I'd say go with that voice in your head and spend some cash. You won't be sorry. You can trust me.

4-0 out of 5 stars The most addictive game I have ever played
I love this game, it is totally awsome. My best friend I stayed up untill 5:00am trying to beat the game. I thought the Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX was money well spent. I recomend to everyone that is looking for a fun and challengeing game to play. It is just like the first Tony Hawk game.

MAT HOFFMAN ROCKS !!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Blood splatters unacceptable and unnecessary!!
My 6 1/2 year old son was so excited about getting this game, he talked about it constantly while we waited for it to be delivered. But when he started playing it, he was so disturbed by the blood splatters, he left the game in tears. We have so enjoyed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, we assumed this product was comparable. Since when are blood splatters OK for "Everyone" (the game is rated E)??? Tony Hawk, you should be ashamed to offer this game to young children. My son ended up very disappointed, and my husband and I were outraged.

3-0 out of 5 stars my review (please read)
The game is pretty much the same as tonyhawk proskater except for the fact thats it is bikes. although the game just dosent have that special something to make it a great game like the tony hawk pro skater series. although it is still fun to play every now and then. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Since EA Sports has covered the racing market with games basedon licenses from Formula One and NASCAR, it is only natural that Frenchpublisher Infogrames would gobble up the rights to a game based on LeMans. Typical of licensed racing games, Test Drive Le Mansincludes official tracks--six to be exact--and, in addition tochampionship mode, players can test their grit in an all-day and all-nightmarathon known as the Le Mans 24 Hours. During this marathon race, players negotiate Le Mans at night, then deal with blinding earlymorning glare, all the while making several pit stops to repair damagewhile avoiding running on empty.

Le Mans wins the award for presentation with a cool intro movieand a British announcer who details every track and car in depth. Thereis even an advanced telemetry feature that pinpoints where driversaccelerated and decelerated. It also communicates speed and the pointsin the race where you achieve maximum speed.

Even with all of its finely rendered cars, the tracks in Le Mansare a bit lacking in terms of shading and realism. But as far as racinggames go, it's the only Le Mans game out there (at the time of thisreview, at least). --Robb Guido

2-0 out of 5 stars Not very good
Not very good compared to the Test Drive Le mans from Infogrames. This "Goodtimes Interactive" needs to learn how to make a decent Le mans sim. If yo want a VERY VERY VERY GOOD Le mans sim, check out the Dreamcast verion, which is frankly the only good le mans sime out there. Infogrames did a horrid job porting it to ps2. Blech! The one fer DC is perfect, and one of the best racers ever made. You should checo out my review for it. :)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but Not Worth Stepping Back from Le Mans 24 Hours
...

Stepping backward from the PS2 Le Mans 24 Hours to the PSX Test Drive Le Mans is very a eye-opening experience. In Quick Race mode, where car adjustments such as fuel and aerodynamics are not available, car handling is VERY twitchy, to the extent that even the cars with the best handling characteristics are simply not driveable. Some of the other game modes, however, DO allow for car adjustments; if the right combination can be found, the cars can be driven fairly well... although the cars will still be somewhat twitchy in terms of handling.Le Mans 24 Hours is also more of a simulation-style game, whereas Test Drive Le Mans is much more of an arcade-style game with a (very) few tuning and adjustment options available.

What disappointed me most, however, is the 'lack of faithfulness' to the real-world Le Mans circuit... This is most likely due to the limitations of the PlayStation itself (the console for which the game was designed), but this also means that there is no true sense of the immense length of the world-famous Mulsanne/Hunaudieres straight; also, there are also virtually NO elevation changes in Test Drive Le Mans. For those with any level of familiarity with Le Mans 24 Hours, the Le Mans circuit in Test Drive Le Mans is definitely recognizable, but also very much an abomination :-(

Just to clarify, Test Drive Le Mans is definitely NOT a bad game! However, despite being an arcade-style game, Test Drive Le Mans definitely does require better-than-average driving skills. As such, it is NOT a good game for young children, as they will quickly become frustrated at their lack of success (especially in Quick Race mode). Some measure of patience is certainly required in any driving game, but Test Drive Le Mans requires a lot more patience than any other driving/racing game I have ever played - either on PlayStation OR PlayStation2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good game!
I saw this game, and since I am a fan of Le Mans racing, I took the plunge. I had played test drive 6 for Game Boy color and it [stunk], but I had hope for this version of the test drive series. For the most part, this is a great game. I like the realism of the racing, It feels a little more real as far as speed than GT2. The steering is good and the tracks are fast and challenging. I also like the 24 hour mode. The cars are cool and I like the brake assist and traction control options. Overall, if you like racing games, you need this one in your collection. For a relatively low key game, Test Drive Le Mans stands up well to Grand Turismo 2.

1-0 out of 5 stars still waiting for a good Le Mans sim
Anyone who has played the GT/GT2/GT3 will think the animation/AI is horrible on this game. The cars are fairly well modeled (for a PS1 game), but the steering, braking, and handling leaves much to be desired. It would have been nice to see more real manufacturer's cars. The lack of an in-car view is really unforgiveable. And I agree with the reviewer who disliked the size of the Le Mans circuit. It really is a joke - Le Mans is a huge course. Part of the challenge is driving for a long time. You don't get this feeling of distance, even if you play forhours and hours. You just get sick going 'round and 'round the tiny track. This is really just a glorified arcade game, not something that truly reflects endurance racing. Frankly I expected more from Infogrames, considering their rally sims. GT or the Jarrett/Labonte stock car game are better sports car sims than this game. But there are a lot of fans of LMP type cars that are still waiting for a decent PSX title to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game 1 default
This is an awesome game. I was very impressed by how much of a like ness there was between the real thing and the game. having been a long time le mans fan i never knew this game was out. I was walking through the local electronics store and saw it and i just HAD to get it . so i took it home popped it in the psx and right away i knew just what to do. it took a little longer to get used to than other games but i had never played a game where you can go 0-150 in the matter of 4 seconds. The graphics are great the color and everything else is great. the only default is as another review said there is no cockpit veiw. that would have been really nice to see the inside of the cars and race looking from out the windshield. but other than that it is still a great game and i enjoy playing it alot. -Kyle(future race driver) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars WELCOME TO THE WEST SIYEEEEEEED...
this game is unbelievably awesome. you can play as almost every south park character.you start of with just eight but you can unlock more and more until you have like a hundred.the racers (all of them) are cartman, stan, kyle, kenny, jimbo, officer barbrady,chef,wendy,ike,mrs.broflovski,mrs.cartman,ned,police cartman, big gay al,mr.garrison, scuzzlebutt, starvin' marvin,dr.mephisto,mr.mackey,jesus,satan,damien,bebe,death,stan'sgrandpa,pip,alien,tweek,shelly marsh, raggidy stan, braveheart chef, and homeboy cartman.oh,what a mouthful.there's tons of characters.it's all good.there's all kinds of weird tracks like the city, the farm, the sewer, the animal sanctuary, and the forest. There's also stupid pickups like the mexican staring frog, stan's dog, salty chocalate balls, and puke blaster.it's just the type of vulgarity and raunchiness that is strangely refreshing to young minds.so pick this game up if you get the chance,or you're just bored,or you're hungry,or even if you just have to pee.it's a great game for any occasion.it's rated mature just because it's set in the twisted world of south park.so just pick it up some day.it feels so good, mmm'kay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tons of fun!!
This has to be one of the most fun PS games ever.No brain power needed, just a great zone-out and relax game.

5-0 out of 5 stars A FUN AND CHALLENGING GAME!
This game is what you call challenging and fun. You get to be a lot of the South Park characters such as Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartmen, Wendy and many, many more. You earn characters as you accomplish the different race courses and some you earn for more challenging stunts. I like this game because it is not a game you can finish in a day. Some games are sooooo easy that you are able to do this. Before you go buying this game, I would suggest renting it first just in case it is too hard of a game for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT AND CHALLENGING GAME!
This is what you call a hard game.If you want a game that is fun but has some difficulty and humor in it, this is the game for you. This game is mostly recommended for South Park fans like myself.Don't buy it if you're not a big fan because you won't get the humor in it.I recommend renting it before buying it in case it is too challenging for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Rent, don't buy.
I am a big SP fan, but I can't recommend buying the game like I did.Yes, the voice-clips are funny and some of the zany action is fun (even if you know you're going to loose there is some fun in tormenting the other charaters with the games' weapons, etc), BUT YES, the novelty does wear off, and I was very frustrated to find you can't save and keep advancing from the saved point but have to start ALL OVER...that's just ridiculous, in any game--why the heck does anyone SAVE a game in the first place??Ultimately, I sold my copy for store credit and bought Medal of Honor instead...much much more fun...if I want South Park I'll just watch the show/movie(s). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I love these games
I rented the first one, and I loved that one and I just about beat it, but when I was ready to get it, it had stopped selling so I bought this one, and I gotta say WOW.The tracks are short, but that does not keep me from loving this game.Your car flips and keeps going, you can go so fast you can see the air heating in front of you, and the best part is, you can ride on the ceilings. There are many different cars to choose from and it provides a great challenge. The graphics aren't the best, but they arent bad.I highly recomend this game, there are also multiple weapons to choose from to slow down your opponent. If this game is you're type, get it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome game
I've played both rollcage games before, and this one is better than the first. With all the special challenges there are, you will be playing this game for a long time.this is a great game for 2 players also, with Rubble Soccer, Pursuit, Combat, Time Trial, Tournament, and a normal race, you will be playign with your friends for hours. There are so many things to unlock, each car has 3 paint styles to choose from, but you have to ulock them first. With all the special challenges and the fun 2 player games, I recomend it to anyone wanting an exciting racer.

4-0 out of 5 stars [Rollcage Stage 2]
This game is awesome. It is as good as the first rollcage. You get to go at high speeds and do flips. There is no bottom or top of the car so dont worry about flipping over. You should buy this game. Also you get weapons and you can shoot them at other cars. See Ya! ... Read more

This game is pretty fun.But the graphics kind of suck.So beware of the graphics okay.Other than that the game is fun to try and beat my cousin beat and got third place which is just okay.So the game is very fun to beat and you should definitley buy. It's worth every penny of your life.YOU'LL HAVE A LOT OF FUN SO JUST PLAY IT!!!!!! Trust me it probably won't disappoint you.If it does forget every thing I said Okay. BYE!!!!!! HAVE FUN WITH JEREMY McGRATH SUPERCROSS '98 SEE YA!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Big waste of money
The cover can fool you. It looks like a really cool game but it has terrible graphics and awfull controls. It's slow and doesn't offer many tracks and only two bikes. It doesn't even give you a Yamaha like Jeremyrides. I hope the 2000 version is a little better. Try Moto Racer 2.

1-0 out of 5 stars A total waste!
A sorry excuse for a "state of the art" racing game: the camera jerks, it's slow, and the max speed is 15 mph.I can't even tell when to switch to 3rd gear because it displays your speed on a green bar, not telling you how fast you are going.Even if you decide to make your owntrack, it is so hard to do, it isn't even worth it.I just hope the 2000version is better.Don't even bother taking out your checkbook; just moveright along to the next game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Little Freakazoids Racing With No Control At All
Micro Maniacs Racing was the first game I got for my PS1 about 3 years ago. I decided to try Time Trial first because I was sure I would absolutely reek at the game. The game's controls are frustrating at first, but you grow to like them. First timers might think this game is stupid because of the controls and how much they stink. I know this because my friends all said that. After you get the controls down, you realize this is a great game. It is kinda hard to win the Championship or whatever the heck it's called, but racing against 4 of your friends in the Time Trial mode is fun. My favorite character is Beatbox, because he's a beatbox. I like beatboxes. I was surprised to see that Mesme, the little alien was a girl, because she sorta looks like a boy. When you set the game to Maniac level, geez those guys go fast. But, why the heck can you not take shortcuts without you getting blobitized(whatever that means) and having to start somewhere else again. Sharp turns are hard to do especially when you're trying to go really fast. This game is hard and not for little kids because of the hard controls, but overall I like it. The graphics look just fine on a Playstation 1 standard and the sound and music are pretty good. It's one of the games I like to play without the radio blocking out the sound. The attacks are hilarious and aren't too hard to do. It doesn't have very bad controls when it comes to attacking, but moving your little maniac can be very frustrating. So, I'd recommend this game to anyone who doesn't care about bad controls.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the remix edition, for the cars in the kitchen.
We all are probably familar to micro machines. You drive a car thru places like kitchens and bathrooms.Well Micro Maniacs is for walking.Don't think it's boring. You get these cool special attacks you can use.You pick power ups on the ground and collect them. You can train your player in 1 player mode too.Who thought a racing game could be like an RPG.You could turn Twisters Yo-Yo into the chainsaw yo-yo(My cuz hates for using this). The graphics are beautiful. You could use the background for advantage. The music is very good. This one level sounds like Butterfly from DDR.Go buy it it's only 10 dollars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This is an awesome game. You can choose from a variety of little freaks with powers ranging from sending little ghosts which reverse a racers controls to fireball farts wwhich evaporate a racer. This adds an element of excitement to the game but the best thing is the course. You have to hop over knives, ride bees over a garden, run through croquet hoops and even run over a man having a bypass operation. The graphics are fabulous and it offers up to 8 player play. The only problem is the controls are a bit slippery and your characters slide around a bit. But all in all it is a fabulous game! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the (much) better Motocross/Supercross games
I rented several of the popular motocross/supercross games to get a feel for each before I purchased. As far as I am concerned, this game still beats some of the newer games in graphics and bike physics (like Ricky Carmichael's, which I was disappointed in). In my opinion, EA Sports games seem to be better overall than those games by other video game developers (like 989 and Acclaim).

My four-year-old son can play this game, fairly well on beginner, and actually not come in last place (which keeps it exciting for him). But in the same manner, I have some excellent competition for me when it's set to pro (I don't give up easily, but the computer is pretty fair considering).

Overall, I was very pleased and satisfied with the game's performance. The reduced price also helped a lot with the decision to buy this versus a newer and more expensive game.

Editorial Review

SuperCross Circuit is packed with pros. This game letsyou race supercross all-stars Larry Ward, Mike LaRocco, John Dowd, andTim Ferry on licensed dirt bikes from Honda, Yamaha, KTM, and Kawasaki. As if that was not official enough for die-hard dirt bikers, thereare realistic racetracks to conquer, including Sam Boyd Stadium, RedBud, and Glen One.

The game designers paid particular attention to recreating rugged trackand bike conditions that muddy up (literally) an otherwise clean racingexperience. For example, your bike must avoid puddles that haven'tquite dried up. Expect to get dirty; during our test of this game, wefound it to be nearly impossible to avoid getting our virtual bikescaked with mud.

Two players can face off in a single race or, if you prefer, you canrace for a whole season to accumulate titles and cash prizes for bikeupgrades. If you conquer the realistic tracks contained in the game, you can design 20 monster tracks with the track editor. This featureallows you to create your own hairpin turns, giant jumps, and deeppits. --Carrie Bell

Pros:

  • Features professional racers, actual racetracks, and licensed dirtbikes from top bike manufacturers
  • Customize your own tracks

Cons:

  • Trick moves do not count for points or rankings
  • Computer-generated opponents are difficult to beat

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is fun
I saw all kinds of riders and tracks I did a carrer mode and I picked a kawsaski. The riders I saw was Mike LaRocco,Kevin Windham,Larry Ward,Jeff Emig,John Dowd,Mickeal Pichon,Greg Albertyn,Casey Lytle,Ryan Hughes,Casey Johnson.I checked it out at blockbuster I had fun on it but it doesn't have much overall to it.I saw some Tracks on it like Hangtown,Glen Helen Millville,Washougal,Red Bud.

4-0 out of 5 stars Game Vs. Seller
The game is great for the PS1. It has the sounds and realism for the motorcyle enthusiast. Challenging once you reach the 250cc.
However, I was worried about the seller. It took over two weeks to get the merchandise and I was already filing complaints. The game arrived in excellent condition!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best motocross/ supercross game
this game has it all, real tracks that actually look like there supposed to, track editor, all the pro's, great graphics, and the best game play andrider physics ever seen. I've played all the motocross games and nothingcomes close to this one.Race a season and get pionts to upgrade your bikeincluding real aftermarket parts, or roost you friend with the heartstopping game play only in Supercross Circut!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is it
This is BY FAR the best motocross game out. I have played them all and the rest are a huge waste of money.I ride motorcycles and this game is very realistic in a lot of ways. It has excellent body movements and you can hitthe corners fast. All of the tracks look great and you don't get stupidpoints for doing tricks while you race, which doesn't happen in real life!I played supercross 2000, and I couldn't stop laughing at it.The Mcgrathgame is weak too. Go buy Supercross Circuit !

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Dirtbike Racing Game EVER
Supercross Curcuit is the absolute best motocross/ supercross game ever. For example, there are the real life pro riders including Ezra Lusk, Doug Henry, Steve Lampson, Jeff Emig, Mike LaRocco, the 1999 Motocross NationalChampion Greg Albertyn along with many other riders. This game hasberm-busting tracks including Southwick, Glen Helen and the best supercrosstracks in the United States. To make the tracks even better there arekiller graphics. There are also three freestyle motocross tracks where youperform heart stopping tricks with your favorite riders on real bikes suchas the Yamaha's YZ 400. Hook up the second controler and have a blast withyour friends. You can also create some phat supercross or freestyle tracks.Do you like challanges? 1-0 out of 5 stars The worst game I have ever played
I seriously hate this game. Its the worst game ever made on Playstation. Its frustrating.Every time you try to do a trick you just fall down and the graphics are horrible. The soundtrack is also a little bit annoying(it has good bands but they chose bad songs from the good bands). The frame rate is also really bad too.So don't go anywhere near this game or consider purchasing it because its the worst game out there.Pick up Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX or Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX instead.

2-0 out of 5 stars not even half of dave mirra
Its too bad this game is as bad as it is. I would have loved it if it were a clone of Dave Mirras BMX, but its not. This came out after Dave Mirras BMX and it should have been better. This game suffers a great deal with clipping (textures and walls become see through), the gameplay is slow, and the control is hard to manuver. When you turn, it turn more and further than you want it to go. The camera is very choppy and does not help you see what is in front of you. The animation is very stiff and unrealistic, even for a game. save your money and dont buy it. I love BMX and have been waiting for BMX games since Excitebike and I guess there always has to be a few games that come out only to get a quick buck, this is one of them.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good...
There were so many things which were disappointing about this game, it's hard to know where to start. For beginners, the camera made me nauseous and much of the time you couldn't see where you were going. The graphics were sub-par, with big chunks of the world like sidewalks and walls flickering on and off.The motions of the riders looks really stiff and unnatural. The control is wonky, and doesn't feel like you're riding a bike. For example he speeds up without pedaling! Also the number of tricks pales in comparison to Mirra BMX and Tony Hawk.

All in all, a big disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the Best BMX Game Out There
I bought TJ Lavin's Ultimate BMX game the second day it came out, and I love it. It is so addictive. You can play as 10 different riders, including TJ Lavin, Fuzzy Hall, Matt Beringer, and 7 others. The game tests you in 3 levels, in dirt, vert, and street. You can even compete on TJ Lavin's famous backyard jumps, the same jumps that MTV used for the Sports and Music Festival two years ago. With over 50 different tricks to try, you never run out of combinations. The graphics are the best I've seen from a BMX game yet. So do yourself a favor, and go pick this game up, but always rent before buying, but if you bought and didn't rent it first, I think you'll be alright, after all, this is the best BMXing game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alot of fun for your $
I found this game to be very exciting, different and a lot of fun. Some people find the cars hard to control but if you watch the video clip you will find out that rally driving is not easy! Some of the car models are not familar makes in the U.S. but each car has its own driving character. The game has great scenery and excellent "damage simulation". It gives you races in all types of terrain and weather (even a fun night time race where your headlights illuminate the path.) Racers are giventrack terrain and weather type before each race. The game defaults to the transmission, tire, braking and suspension type most beneficial for the race environment. You can change these if you want to. Instead of a map you are given directional arrows and symbols for upcoming turns and hazards and your co-pilot also announces what is coming up. There are 5 levels of expertise to keep the game challenging. The game also offers an awesome camera from inside the car which is great during replay. I have all the well known race simulators but this game is one I always come back to. My only complaint is that the opponents are really hard to beat! If you are looking for a fun, simple little simulator and want to get off the race track then I recommend this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars this game stinks
The cars don't look real. They didn't handle worth a darn. Graphics need serious help. Wasn't worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A musr buy!
Rally Masters throws you into the Michelin Race of Champions by setting new standards in driving physics, graphical presentation and depth of game play.

1-0 out of 5 stars not the fun i was hoping for
I read the reviews and it sounded great, but once I played it, it was like every other dirt bike game.I was dissapointed

5-0 out of 5 stars Supercross 2000 Review
Supercross 2000 is an excellent game for anyone that likes car/motorcycle type auto racing for playstation. It combines real-world physics and real tuning ability with the cartooniness you get from the tricks, the air, andthe craziness.I give this five stars because you can race any of the 1999Supercross Tracks from the racing series(even the same track setup as thereal race in 1999! ), or you can do a freestyle supercross round at threedifferent stadiums from across the country. This game is a very fun gameat a very affordable price. It is appropriate for ANY age group.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome dirt track fun!
I have played this game a lot and definitely agree that it takes some time to master. It is not the typical hammer the throttle bike game.It blew MotoRacer right out of the water! If you are a serious rider in real lifethis is the game for you! The bikes definitly handle better than any otherbike game I have played, arcade included. There is a definite difference inthe handling between the agile 250cc and the heavier 400cc bikes whichmakes the game all that much more challenging to play.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cool
I have played other supercross type games, but Supercross 2000 seems to beat them all! I have played Jeremy McGrath's Supercross 2000, but I would have to give it the same rating as I gave this......COOL GAME! 1

1-0 out of 5 stars Pass
I actually got a copy of this game while doing some game-testing at Acclaim. (The game was another horrible supercross game, by the way.) Both my and my 2 friends who went with me sold the game after a matter of days. It's absolutely horrible! There's no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Now, I'm not a supercross enthusiast, but I do appreciate good games. This is not a good game. If you must try it, rent it, don't waste your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Far off the mark
This game is really bad. The tracks look nothing like the real life tracks, if it didn't tell you what track you choose you would never know. All the jumps are either to far or to short making the timing difficult. The graphics are terrible even for the playstation and the rider physicsare the worst I've ever seen in any motocross game, then you have to turnthe bike without crashing which is a big problem. Hey when was the lasttime you wen't 80mph on your 125 on a supercross track, that's right, youhavn't, but in this unrealistic game you can. this is the worst motocrossgame on the market, and I've played them all, the only half way good thinkis the track editor which is still weak. Take my advise and buy SupercrossCircut instead. You won't be let down.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's better than the 98 version.
It's ok...I like games that allow users to create their own tracks. The graphics could be a little better. I still like Ricky CarmichaelChampionship Motocross better. ... Read more
