5-0 out of 5 stars If you thougt Vice City was awsom.GTA is just Beginning!
Man, I dont see how GTA can get any better.Unlike the previous GTA Games,This one you have stats.Such as Fat,Stamina,Sex Appeal,Muscle,Hunger,And lots more.Just one Island is bigger than all of Vice City. Each island represents a popular city, and they are,Los Angelas,San Francisco, and Las Vegas. You can even bye drinks, play arcade games, even Bet on Casino games.Like on Vice City, The aircraft only go up to like 50 feat. Here they go up to like 1500 feat.Oh and did I mention you can swim. This is defiently the Best GTA Game ever.Get it.Its worth every penny.(Caution:Not for kids under age 17)

4-0 out of 5 stars Greatest game I've played
I rented this game for 1 week. The 2- player part is hard to find but it is worth it. In 2- player mode you can shoot people and the cops will chase you. (OBVIOUSLY) And the money you get from 2- player you can keep. The 1 player mode roxxx!!! you can costumize Carl and you can beat up other gang members ND jack their guns and money. Overall I give this game a 4.5!

5-0 out of 5 stars The games price won't lower which is telling you it's a good
The game is great one thing that bothers me is the control it's no more directional buttons but analog which makes it harder to control, but other wise then that the game is long and great and is worth buying oh yeah Not for children.

5-0 out of 5 stars gta:San andreas
the best game ever made keep it up rockstar please keep carl jonson.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game.
CJ ran away from home after his brother died, but now its time to go back. His mother was shot in a drive-by that was intended to kill his other brother, Sweet, and he has to go back to bury her. But he ends up staying longer then that.

The gang Sweet is the leader of is called Grove Street Families, but since CJ left the gang has gone from ruling the town to just another gang no one really cares about. There's a huge crack problem thats made everyone completely change into different people, and now that CJ's back, Sweet needs his help to get Grove Street back on track.

There are other things besides the main storyline, like all GTA games. One new feature is that you can buy clothes from different stores (that you unlock as you progress through the game) and mix and match. Your clothes determine how much respect you get from gang members, and how many compliments you get from people on the street.

The clothes that raise your "sex appeal" the most, halfway, are the "special" outfits, that you can only get through missions or... dating. Yes, that's right, dating. If you get your relationship to 100% with certain women, they'll give you outfits.

There are a few downsides, nothing that affect the overall gameplay. Blocky hands, wierd movements when talking, driving controlls suck, things like those that don't affect you. Other then that, I recommend this game to any fans of GTA or rockstar games, and anyone who's mature enough to handle it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You need one.
A must have for anyone who owns a PS2, with this you can save your game files so you can continue playing. They are compact and strong. Highly recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars Building another Terminator
Using the technology from this 8MB Memory Card (left over from the dead Terminator), you should be able to construct another Terminator robot and send it through time.

If you create a bad Terminator robot, you should definitely soup it up like the A-Team van, with some crazy special powers that will help it destroy mankind. If you create a good Terminator robot, just make it like normal (and P.S. thanks for saving mankind).

4-0 out of 5 stars good, not great
The official 8MB PS2 memory card is good if you have only a couple of games.otherwise you need to buy more than one.It is said that it runs 200 times faster, which isn't entirely accurate (usually about 185 times, but 200 is supposed to be the max).I bought this thing used for $17 dollars. That's expensive. If you have an oldr model of Playstation, it would be better to shell out $100 for Final Fantasy 11/hard drive bundle. The hard drive is 40 gigs, which is 5,120 times larger than this memory card.If you have a slim ps2, you can't use the hard drive. In that case, buy the 2 pack memory cards from Sony. It runs from $32 to $40, so get that package.Overall, a fast, reliable card, but Sony needs to produce larger cards.

3-0 out of 5 stars be aware
ill tell you it is a good memory card but over time it will erase everything if you action replay max and if you use it on the getaway game it will erase every thing so if you have it just to let you know that

4-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GOOD MEMORY CARD
MEMORY cards are quite dear and hold 8 blocks of Memory, games like The Sims ect. take up alot of Memory space so saving other games are more difficult to save,i do Prefer The GameCube memory cards b-cs they have more space so ide often have to delete memory from Magic Gate 8MB(8 Memory Blocks) to save my newer games. The PS2 is backWards Compatible with its predcessor`s games,PS ONE wich is very useful but PS2 is a different console and PS2`s Memory Card`s can`t save any PS ONE game(and PS1 Mem. Cards can not save PS2 games)So ide recommend that if you are buying PSX games for a PS2 to buy/Make-sure you have a PS ONE memory card if you i am concidering getting a PlayStation 1 Memory Card for my PS2 so i can save these PS1 games ime concidering buying;WWF In Your House,WWF WarZone,WWF SmackDown! 1,WWF SmackDown 2:Know Your Role!(I am a WWF/WWE fan),GTA1,GTA2,Driver 1 and Driver 2 and all of these games are popular and very fun to play thats Y ime gettin a PS1 Memory Card and And these games though PS2 games are more Fun now and better graphix.Only get a 8MB card if you have&play 8 games.JOHN CENA AND RANDY ORTON are the best WWE superstasrs!!!!1 ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk..
Sony must be trying to suck up some cash from people, and they are doing that from me. These things are 30 bucks and I have bought 4 of these and they are just breaking like crazy. I guess it's a good thing i live in a family with money.. but this thing is just a cheap piece of junk that needs some improving..

3-0 out of 5 stars Too small for adults
I have a normal sized adult head, but the mic boom is far too short for me.Apparently only intended for kids.I have to shout to control the game.Tried it with SOCOM and Ghost Recon.

2-0 out of 5 stars Is this a Headset? or a Money Vaccuum
This headseet is a good accessory for going online on popular games such as Socom, Madden and Ratchet and Clank. It feels like a lazy way 4 Sony to make some extra money. Compared 2 the XBOX 1 it is a P.O.S the first time i bought this thing it looked gay so i threw it down in disgust. And it broke so i had to buy a new 1. I barely play with it because i fear i might break it. Hey Sony, heres a tip in the next PS REINFORCE THE STUPID THING WITH FRIGGIN METAL!!!!!!!! Dont just make it a plastic P.O.S!!! Sorry im such a grouch i ve had a long, horrible day and i feel like s#!t Im gonna go play some Halo now on a good headset to relax.-Forwardhaloman "This PS2 extra cheap third-party s#!t is getting pretty old. Seriously."-Forwardhaloman

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!!!
Must admit, when I first saw this headset - I thought... these are going to suck. My friend purchased one to play SOCOM 2 online. Kept telling me how cool it was so I decided to buy it.Wow, was I impressed! Communication over the Playstation 2 was excellent! (For those of you who don't know much about technology, voice over ip has always sucked because of loud noise and constant echoing with mics - very annoying! ) This is not the case with this product.

Furthermore, I use this headset to chat online on my personal computer via usb port. The Logitech PS2 headset is the best mic I have ever owned for PC use! I develop my own Flash Communication programs for online video and audio streaming and these are unbelievable.I chat with family and friends over my cable high speed connection using this product and they all hear me perfectly with very little delays or echoing.

I rated this product a 4 for durability because the headset could of been made a bit more stronger. However, they are affordable and very functional! So.. I give it a 5 star rating overall.

NOTE.

THE RED LIGHT MEANS THE MIC IS MUTED, CLICK THE BUTTON AND MAKE SURE THE BLUE LIGHT IS ON FIRST BEFORE YOU TRY CHATTING!

THIS APPLIES TO BOTH THE PLAYSTATION 2 AND USING THE HEADSET WITH YOUR HOME COMPUTER TO CHAT ONLINE. :-)

FOR SOCOM NEWBIES, IN ORDER FOR OTHERS TO HEAR YOU IN THE CHATROOM YOU HAVE TO HOLD DOWN THE CIRCLE BUTTON ON YOUR CONTROLLER UNTIL YOU HEAR A FEW BEEPS ON YOUR HEADSET. ONCE YOU HEAR THE BEEPS KEEP HOLDING DOWN THE BUTTON AND TALK ( IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO CHAT FOR 10 SECONDS BEFORE ENDING TRANSMISSION )THIS IS TO ALLOW EVERYONE A CHANCE TO TALK IN THE SOCOM CHAT ROOM.

YOU CAN ONLY CHAT WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE PROPER CONTROLLER BUTTON. AFTER SOMEONE ELSE TALKS PRESS DOWN THE BUTTON AGAIN UNTIL YOU HEAR THE BEEPS AGAIN THEN YOU HAVE ANOTHER 10 SECONDS TO CHAT .....

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR CONTROLLER SETTINGS THEN YOU MAY HAVE TO HOLD DOWN THE SQUARE BUTTON AND NOT THE CIRCLE BUTTON TO CHAT.( ON A HOME COMPUTER YOU JUST CLICK TALK ON THE APPLICATION YOU ARE USING OR HANDS FREE TO CHAT WITH PEOPLE ONLINE )

SEE YA :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars You may have plugged it in wrong
Listen to the title. The headset plugs into the BOTTOM part of the blue section in front of the PS2. I plugged it in on top once and got nothing. Then I plugged it in to the bottom and it worked fine. If you want your headset to last longer, I suggest putting it out of reach. That way no one can step on it, throw it, and hit it. You will need this when playing SOCOM II. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Lizard and Black Cat
I have been playing this game for days straight and I have to say it is well made. The swinging and diving is the best part.

Some things that were a bummer is that Lizard IS NOT in the game. One of the help markers says that it is just a rumor and not true. And I know that this is not in the comic but I wanted Spiderman to begin dating Black Cat and dump his other girlfriend. Lol. Another bummer is I wish spiderman could swim. I mean anyone really could learn to swim and if you were a hero you should. Lastly the fact that you can't get to the other island from the bridge.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very high-quality game
This is one of my favourite games ever.

It's not quite perfect, though (might as well start with the cons so I can end on a good note). For one thing, while the action graphics (as in, while you are actually playing the game) are superb, for some reason the cut-scene graphics are horrible. Characters are square-looking, glitchy (Peter Parker shakes uncontrollably whenever he makes a hand gesture), poorly defined and generally irritating to look at. Also, the anonymous characters' (random passersby, etc.) voice dubs are rather annoying as well.

Apart from that, however, I have to say I love this game. Its best aspects are definetely the controls and camera angles. The controls are a bit complicated at first (although I've seen worse), but there is a clear tutorial at the beginning of the game and, once you get the hang of it, it's smoooooooth sailing. Actually, the basic controls are pretty easy, it's up to you if you want to learn the combos and the more fancy tricks. Spider-man's movements are incredibly fluid and pleasant to look at and New York City has been recreated in very great detail. The game has the same format as Grand Theft Auto, which means you can take breaks in between missions and just explore the city and do smaller missions or just swing around as much as you like. And the camera angles are very well-placed, which makes this game a real visual treat (apart from the cut-scenes): you'll be impressed by views of the sun setting over the Hudson river, seen from the top of the Empire STate Building - and then, jump and stop yourself at the last minute and see if your head doesn't spin and your doesn't heart race just a little... That alone is worth the price of the game.

Also, the dubbing by Tobey Maguire et al. is a nice touch and the dialogue isn't too bad (although they could have chosen a less used line than "He did kill my father, someday I'll get him for it, too." - but hey, let's not nit-pick) and the narrator's snide comments to the gamer are pretty funny and set a good atmosphere. There are tips and challenges scattered all over the city, too, in case you want a change of pace.

I haven't finished this game yet (I love video games, yet I'm really quite bad at them). I'm having some trouble with a particular mission, but I don't think this game is that difficult, it's a matter of practice. At any rate, it's a LOT of fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hmm. Interesting.
Simple as this:

Buy it for the city-slingin'-action

It's amazing..

The story and acting is quite lame .. but its worth the money if you can get it for a few bucks.

It may be repetitive ( like most games ) but its worth the money

5-0 out of 5 stars spidey 2 rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this game is the best! you can free roam almost very thing. but i still think this game could be better.the game is VERY easy. one thing, if you played the first game... the grafics in GAME PLAY seemded better. like if there was a movie, the game would look like that the whole time. not in this.the movies are much beter than in the first game.but the look of spider-man in game play sucks.first of all, he looks skinny.the spider on this chest look a little bit weird.it's only day time or night. IT NEVER RAINS OR SNOWs!the free roaming is very fun unlike the first game with swinging on air.the colors could be better. and there's one place you can't go...across a brigde. the mouths of the characters DON'T move in missions. but still, the new added fight combos are the BEST!!!!!DOC OCK is much better than the green goblin, he's harder to beat too.this is probably the BEST game for spider-man there ever was!

5-0 out of 5 stars LIZARD??? Where is tha lizard!
OK so on the game overview right here on amazon it says that Lizard is a bad guy in tha game. He is not there! BUT a lot of other sites say that too AND in the battle arena level there are LIZARDs to fight! PLUS a hint marker actuallly hints that he is in the sewer! Lizard is in this game but WHERE!? someone please pot a review confirming and saying where to find this fool!!! Amazon.com Review

Set in the interval between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, this first-person adventure lets you step into the role of the galaxy's most heavily armed bounty hunter, Jango Fett, as you track a renegade Jedi across the galaxy, collecting information (and bounties) along the way.

In addition to Jango's trademark dual blaster pistols, your armor bristles with gadgets and weaponry: darts, flamethrower, blowtorch, scanner, cable snare, and--of course--a missile-launching jetpack. Use this arsenal to battle hordes of uncooperative guards, fend off rival bounty hunters, scale precipitous skyscrapers, and capture fugitives--dead or alive. The basic controls are surprisingly easy to master, and you've got enough armament at your disposal to fight your way out of almost any situation. Still, some finesse is required: as fun as it is to walk into a room and blast everything in sight (and it is fun--especially when you're the one wearing the jetpack), you may discover when the smoke clears that the guy you just fried was worth twice as much alive. Oh well...

The complex storyline is revealed by extended cutscenes that let you rest your thumbs while Jango follows up the next lead. (Star Wars fans will appreciate the quality and detail of these scenes, as well as the fidelity of the story arc--namely how Jango is chosen as the model for the clone troopers in Episode II.) And anyone familiar with the Lucas Arts suite of games will not be disappointed by the superior graphics, music, sound effects, and fully realized characters and locations. The pace of the game is up to you: methodically seek out the secrets of each level, or ruthlessly blast your way to the big payoff. --Maile Bohlmann

Pros:

  • Impressive graphics and rich detail
  • Excellent scripting and voicing
  • Nice balance between action and strategy
  • Controller setup is intuitive and easy to learn

Cons:

  • Long stretches between save points
  • Climbing sequences can become redundant
  • Weapons must be holstered to use scanner, leaving you vulnerable

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good game
When you first start to play this game, you'll be amazed on how different is. Instead of running around with a lightsaber slashing people in half, this game lets you pulverize people with pistols, missiles, grenades, and an assortment of deadly weapons. It will provide countless entertainment(like watching people run around on fire) along with fustrating puzzles(it takes a long time to find out what to do).

A real downside of the game is the weapon system. you get cool weapons, but you mainly ues the pistols for the entire game. Also, some of the graphics are kinda bad.I remember I missed a guy with a sniper rifle and the game count it as a hit....wich was good. The extra bounty system is pretty cool, but it really doesn't affect the game that much.

Overall, it is a game that is worth your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh how I wish for a sequel to this awesome game!
This was the second game I ever got for PS2 and I just love it. I still go back to it after several years for nothing more than the thrills and good times it has to offer. Bounty Hunter isn't perfect but it is one of the better Star Wars games I've played and its a great third person shooter. I remember how much the graphics, cutscenes, effects, sound, and dialog blew me away a couple years ago and all I can do today is appreciate all these things more. Every time I play the game (I've played it a lot) I find new things to mess around with, whether it be small rodent creatures to blast or secret areas containing heavy weapons. The worlds are immerse with detail and most are actually almost beautiful. The explosions and laser blasts that fill the levels all look great, as do the characters, who's lypsyncing and motions are excellently executed. The action gameplay is fast paced with a very high frame rate. The sound design sounds as though it was taken directly from a Star Wars film. And most of all, the story is very entertaining, from your first encounter with the villanous scum Meeko, to your stealing of Slave 1 from an astroid prision, to meeting Tyranus. The story takes you all around the galaxy and be prepared to meet up with some familiar characters such as Zam Weesel. Many have complained about the game's repetetivness and lousy camera and I will admit that the camera tends to work a little strangly at times, but it certainly can be controled and is not something to get all worked up over. Bounty Hunter's action has never boared me and I find it's controls to be intruative and easy to use. Star Wars Bounty Huter is an excellent game with high production values and many good things going for it, I truely hope Lucas Arts releases a sequel for it because it is one of the best games I have ever played. Thanks for reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall? Mediocre.
I got thorough this game in a short while considering how long it's taken others that I know to get through it. During that time, however, I didn't have a life.
Though many got frustrated with this game I did very rarely. I'm the kind of person who loves a challenge and has a very high patience level.
In Star Wars I've always loved the Bounty Hunters, they seemed very interesting and were fun to study. I had to struggle a lot to find any information about Jango Fett and this game helped, it goes rather in depth with Jango Fett.
According to some of my sources some people like to 'feel' like a bounty hunter, if that's your only reason find another game, only on one level do you actually 'feel' like a bounty hunter.
I enjoyed this game mainly for the challenge, the levels got harder and longer as I progressed, I struggled with my last few. You often have to find very small ledges.
The graphics were well done in some parts, very bad in others. Sometimes Fett would become part of the scenery for a moment and then come back into sight so I tried not to get to near to objects.
If you like a challenge I suggest this game, but only if you're a Star Wars fan. To those with small amounts of patience, may I suggest another game?

2-0 out of 5 stars Lets ruin a good concept shall we Lucasarts?
I got this game at my local Gamestop for $14.99 used, I had looked at the Amazon.com reviews, and they where good, I looked at the Gamespot.com reviews, and they called the game mediocre,
and they where right, the games concept is original, and the weapons are cool, but the gameplay just doesn't follow through, part of the reason is its excruciating difficulty, I spent 45 minutes on one level, and the only level I really enjoyed was Corusant, because you felt like you where really a bounty hunter, and I had to use cheats to get to that level.
This game could have been great, I mean come on what Star Wars fan Doesn't want to fly around as Jango Fett, collecting bounties before he gets his head cut off, the game needed many things, like difficulty settings, and being able to fly Slave 1.
The animations are very well done, but the neatness of the weapons, and the animations where not enough to keep me from returning it.

3-0 out of 5 stars An Average Action Game...Hardly Anything More
After seeing Attack Of The Clones, the idea of a video game that might have some more background into the character Jango Fett appealed to me. Sadly, this game didn't live up to the expectations I had. Bounty Hunter is basically a cross of platforming, Star Wars and quick gunslinging thrown together into a strange result.

In the game you play Jango Fett [Of course], in the days before Episode II. Sure, Fett is able to scan crowds for bounties, swoop down on his jetpack and claim his money. Its an interesting feature, but the game's long levels are mostly a combination of tricky jumping platforming with the aid of a limited fuel jetpack. Fett is able to fly with his jetpack and utilize a wide variety of Star Wars weaponry including his trademark dual blasters, gauntlet flamethrower and toxic darts and a sniper rifle [Among others including special blaster guns that you find scattered throughout the levels].

The gunslinging atomosphere in the game is basically just flying around and shooting blaster bolts at everything in the room. Half of the time, when engaged in large firefights and using Jango's blasters, you can hardly see what is going on and end up firing bolts randomly until nothing is left in the room.

The storyline does put a little backbone and support into Jango Fett's story such as how he became to be the template for the Clone Army and how he met Count Dooku and Zam Wessel [You know, his assistant in early Episode II].

The graphics for some of the major cutscenes in the game are pretty good and detailed, though those that take place in the game are pretty poor. Plus, in several situations you find yourself sniping Tusken Raiders around Tatoonie and exit out of the first-person scope view only to find some large desert creature in the process of draining your health. This game is definetely not worth purchasing, but it may prove valuable for Star Wars fans. My reccomendation is to rent it first though. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with the overall quality of this HDTV selector
Wow! Stumbled across this Pelican product at a local computer store.I had looked around recently for component video switchers, but had no idea this Pro System Selector existed. For $79 I had no hesitation buying immediately and bringing home knowing the store had a good return policy.Hooked it up in 20 minutes to a Pioneer 50" plasma screen with the following video inputs: 1) HD DirecTV 2) Progressive scan universal DVD player 3) REPLAY DVR with progressive component out 4) X-Box HD 5) Playstation 2 6)Nintendo 64 7) S-video Camcorder.

I couldn't be more pleased with the quick switch ability.I have tested with several Superbit DVDs before and after installation and see no visable loss in quality. Will be recommending to my friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this product
I recently purchased the Pelican pro system selector with mini remote and am very pleased with the way it operates everything. The main reason I made the purchase (while more expensive than other switch boxes it's very much worth the extra cost)as it adds an extra 8 inputs component composite and S-video and optical inputs (3) and broadband connetors (3)..I decided to get this as I wanted more component inputs as my HDTV only has 2 as I have heard most do only come with 2 depending on the model of the tv. Installion was VERY easy no hassle I hooked up my dvd player(s) laser disc player and Xbox so far no problem with anything thats been hooked up to it.The remote comes in very handy when you want to switch machines. It does come with additional name plates (which are easy to change) but there are not enough labels for dvd or a label for misc. When the system is turned on after switching the power on the indivdual name plate will light up green.A great purchase if you want to add inputs and want to lessen the clutter than normally comes with a tv when the back inputs are filled to capacity.I think this product by pelican is worth every penny that you pay.

5-0 out of 5 stars The system selector pro is awesome!
I just recently received my Pelican system selector pro in the mail.It came with 8 component inputs, a remote control andthe other stuff like composite, s-video and ethernet jacks.I was surprised that it came with 8 component inputs and a remote because I haven't heard of anyone else getting that with their pro.I got my PL-960 pro from a different website called x10 brand new for a total of 81.99 plus the shipping and handling.I was originally expecting only three component inputs but, it came with 8.Before I got it, I had to decide which console I was not going to use to often for regular composite. You know how it goes when you are use to hd and then go back to composite. The remote that it comes with can turn it on and also change the console you want to use instead of having to get up and press the button.I'm glad I waited before buying one of these. It looks exactly the same as the other PL-960, its just that it has more functions.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great device while it worked
I could not have been more impressed with this product. Having far too many devices for my receiver, it was just what I needed, not to mention it had ethernet connectivity to. By far the most impressive features of this device are the facts that it not only has HDTV inputs, but normal analog ones - allowing me to upgrade to an HDTV at a later point and not have a large paperweight. The optical audio output is also a must.
The only thing I wished they'd included to really make this product better would be a remote to switch devices.

I bought this device approximately a year ago, and it operated fine, until the other day. At first it would not switch device, however the input it was stuck on (the first) worked fine. Within a few hours though it had completely died, and was no longer outputting a signal.

However, the device comes with a standard manufacturer warranty of FIVE years. During this time, it can be repaired or replaced for $4 of return shipping. So even if you end up like me with a faulty product, you can still get it replaced, so long as you keep your receipt.

5-0 out of 5 stars High Quality Switchbox
I had my reservations at first about entrusting my optical and component video signals to a switchbox from one of the companies generally known for cheap (and not necessarily high quality) 3rd party gaming hardware.

I had first looked to buy a receiver but most didn't have nearly as many component video and optical inputs as this switchbox. As such, I ended up opting for the switchbox and sending the optical out to my audigy 2 patch bay for dolby 5.1 decoding. This switchbox turned out to be exactly what i needed and i've been extremely pleased with its performance and the value i got for the price.

I have a dvd player, gamecube, and x-box hooked up via component video (progressive scan), optical out of the x-box and dvd, rca out of the cube. Also have an n64, sfc, and a vcr hooked up via s-video and rca. I am using mid-range monster cables and I saw no degradation of quality while using this switchbox. I am also using the unit as an ethernet cable switch between the gamecube and the x-box (coming from my router).

All in all the unit looks very sleek, it comes with many inserts for labeling your channels and they glow green when selected, and it has an input in the front as well for quick hookup of a friend's game system or a camcorder, etc..

If a switchbox is what you need don't be afraid to buy this unit, it comes with quality cables and is well worth the money for its performance. Very handy for gamers with a lot of systems but a tv without a billion inputs. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Another title to add to the Star Wars gaming shelf, The Clone Wars picks up where the movie Episode II: Attack of the Clones leaves off. In fact, the very first battle in this game re-creates the climactic battle in the movie, with you leading the clone army and blasting every droid in sight. Not big on strategy, Clone Wars is your basic arcade-style shoot-'em-up game. If you liked Star Wars: Starfighter, this game’s for you.

You control the Jedi leading the Republic's clone army, sometimes fighting as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, or other familiar Jedi as the war takes you from planet to planet. As the leader, you may issue squad commands to teammates, allowing them to act independently and assist you in your mission. Your ships and weapons are varied, giving you the pleasure of piloting everything from zippy speeder bikes to the impressive Republic Gunship. Soar over ice fields and desertscapes, or maneuver through labyrinthine galactic scrap yards, leaving robotic wreckage behind as you blast through enemy ranks. And every so often you actually get to use your lightsaber as well.

The game is fun to play, the controls easy to master--but you won’t find a lot new or challenging if you’re an experienced gamer. Also, unlike its sibling, Bounty Hunter, the graphics leave a bit to be desired, but luckily this aspect of the game doesn’t detract much from the gameplay. The pure pleasure in this game lies in becoming a part of the Star Wars universe. And, of course, blowing up robots. --Maile Bohlmann

Pros:

  • High-intensity play
  • Fun, classic Star Wars music
  • Four multiplayer modes

Cons:

  • Silly voiceovers
  • Graphics aren’t very detailed and color palette is limited
  • Plotline is threadbare
  • Overall, not very challenging or unique

4-0 out of 5 stars I realy want this for myself
The game is great. You can fly or drive so many different ships. Its awesome. The best mission is where you evacuate a ice planet before its taken over. The multiplayer options areeven better.

2-0 out of 5 stars very repetative
It seems to me, with very rare exception, that for the last ten years, 80% of the Star Wars games that are released are all (basically) clones of the old 'Rebel Assault' PC title.Dress them all up anyway you want, but when all's said and done, you're really playing the same game.

You will have several different vehicles to pilot as well as being on foot, but the whole game's plot is essentially the same: finish the level as fast as you can without getting killed ... that's it.There's not a lot of strategy involved past that, that's about it.Frustrating part is, they could have stuck to the mold and still added a little variety. For example, how about letting us pilot one of those AT-ATs for a little while?

The one thing that I had hoped may be a saving grace would be the animated cut-scenes between levels, but even they were a little sub-par.Aside from the animation being (at best) average, there were too few of them.Even the ending animation scene was only about a minute or two!I finished the game and that's all I'm rewarded with?

I'll also answer the question that I know at least a few of you have.No ... this game will not lend any hints to what may be ahead in the new Episode III and does nothing to advance the plot of the prequel trilogy. They may have been able to sell a few more titles if this game was a little more tied to the plot of the movies. The recently released 'Enter the Matrix' game as a terrific example to what I'm talking about. On a side note, it was nice though to see an old character from the comic books named Ulric Qel-Droma make an appearance.

So, as been stated before, if you liked Rebel Assault (I or II), Starfighter, Bounty Hunter, and Jedi Starfighter ... etc etc ... then this is probably going to be right up your alley. One the other hand, if (like me) you're getting a little burned-out on this style of play, this isn't going to do ANYTHING for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very simple game
I was so excitedwhen I bought it, howewer I finished this game in just 1 week!!. I mean the last game I played was Final Fantasy and I spend more than 5 months to finish it. So this game is very very short.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have!!!!!!
alright i got this game for christmas but i was antisipating its arrival i saw the trailers for the game i read the reviews and it seemed to be great,AND IT WAS!!!! i put in the game and POW!!!!!! it happened!i was amased i loved it i was hooked on clone wars.but let me tell u about the game u play as anikan skywalker,obi-wan kenobi and mace windu, the first black guy since lando caleruseom lol.your mission stop dooku from bringing back an ancient sith wepon af mass destruction any ways you play in vihicles like repulic tanks, staps,in one mission you get to pilot an aat, also a speeder and a repulic gunship well what did i studder A REPULIC GUNSHIP!!!!!sweetness!!!!!! A MUST HAVE FOR ALL STARWARS FANS ALIKE!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Too short, too easy. 3½ Stars
When my wife bought me my PS2, I naturally wanted a Star Wars game for it and at the time my choices were Bounty Hunter and Clone Wars. I chose Bounty Hunter and while the game play was very repetitive- run and gun- it did provide hours of game play, great voice acting and superb cut scenes. A few of the missions, such as Tusken Canyon and Gardula's Lair were very tough, but ultimately playable. Everyone else I knew who had a PS2, Gamecube or Xbox kept telling me I should have bought Clone Wars instead, that it was a better game, that it offered more and varied missions than simply running around shooting everything. Well, I have Clone Wars now, but I am at something of a loss as to how it could be perceived as `better'.

Firstly, the object of both games is to run around shooting everything in sight. The major difference between the two is in Clone Wars, you drive vehicles whereas in Bounty Hunter, you're on foot. Essentially, the game play is the same- run and gun. Admittedly in Clone Wars you do get different vehicles from the TX-130 Republic Fighter Tank- a hover craft with guns and missiles; a Speeder Bike; the AT-XT, a precursor to the AT-ST- missiles and guns, plus a plasma shield. My favorite, the Republic LAAT/I Gunship with its multi-rockets, rapid fire blaster cannons and wicked continuous beam lasers, and the silliest one yet- the Maru, which is kinda like a big tauntaun with dual blasters mounted on it. However, regardless of what you're in the job is still basically the same.

Count Dooku, along with his allies the Trade Federation, the Galactic Banking Clan, the Commerce Guild and the Separatists armies are waging war across the galaxy, and looking for an... wait for it... an ancient Sith artifact, (surely not! -ed.) Don't get me wrong, I like ancient Sith artifacts, but given the volume of Star Wars stuff I have read, there have been an awful lot of them. The game begins right in the middle of Attack of the Clones- with Mace leading the infiltration into the Geonosian arena escorting transports full of Jedi, destroying anti-orbital cannons and finally using a Republic gunship to take out Techno-Union and Trade Federation Core Ships. Next, it's on to the planet of Rhen Var to evacuate it before the Trade Federation invades.

Then to Raxis Prime- a junk planet and the location of the Sith artifact, the Dark Reaver- the first mission of which is an irritating speeder bike chase where the terrain frustrates, because places that look clear of debris seem to have invisible walls that damage your bike and prevent you from going forward. Next it's on to one of the moons of the Wookie homeworld, Kashyyyk where Dooku plans to test the Dark Reaver- a tough mission as Anakin attempts to escape the life-leaching field of energy. Back to Rhen Var for some fun gunship missions- lots of stuff to shoot as you fly around attempting to bring down the planetary shield so the Republic forces can invade. Finally, all forces converge on the planet Thule, the planet where Dooku has set up the Dark Reaver, which resembles a giant segmented sphere that sprays out purple energy. You must also defeat Dooku's bounty hunter henchman, Cydon Prax.

Graphics are pretty good, but the PS2 really starts to strain when there is a lot of stuff going on around you and it starts to drop frames making for some pretty choppy visuals. Plus, if you get too close to objects and vehicles, the texture quality is quite low, as is the polygon count. For the most part I found the architecture, vehicles and visuals to be quite pleasing, especially on the planets Raxis and Thule. Mission maps, while pretty linear, are quite large, giving the player lots of places to go. Sound quality is excellent, but pretty standard effects for a Star Wars game- I did encounter some music problems where it seemed as though that part of the audio track was skipping. The big downside for this game with me was the fact that I finished it in less than 15 hours- less than half the time it took me to complete Bounty Hunter. Then going back to try to get as many bonus points to unlock extra features took perhaps another five.

DVD Extras include unlocking four two-player maps- big deal, playing games split screen just doesn't interest me. A unit viewer that enables you to look at all the 3D models from the game, a `making of' video, the quality of which is so lousy that it's annoying to watch, a jukebox function that lets you listen to music from the game, and a sketchbook of some very nice concept art. Plus you can watch all the cut scenes whenever you want. I must admit, Matt Lucas, who does the voice of Anakin almost convinced me that it was Haydon Christensen until I checked the booklet to make sure. LucasArts games can always be counted on to provide lots of little extras making their games a good value for Star Wars geeks like me.

A good game? Yes, it's a good game, just too darn short for my liking, plus I like a little more meat to my stories and game play. It's probably better on the Gamecube or the Xbox and would have been better on the PC, especially when it comes to graphics. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Time
Our whole family has had a BLAST with this game! Highly recommended for the whole family, parents included. Even my Dad, age 69, grooves with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars either is good
this game is dance dance for your arms. it is fun but not too challenging. all you do is put your hand in the right shape when called. and don't belive th create your own dance thing and the calorie thing and the two player thing and the songs are reduced. tçin create a dance, you make a dance but if the game dosen't like it, it comp0letly changes giving you a
pisicly impossible routine. this feture is better in dance dance. and the two player thing is complete nonsenes seeing as how it donsen,t tell you who should hit the marker which causes confusion and possibly colission. and the calorie thing geusses homuch you lost. and if you belive it, you better have good math skills because if you don't. youn won,t be correct, eve though you'll be wrong anyway. there is so much to say but my las sentances is the stars i gave this game are sympathy stars

4-0 out of 5 stars Super fun AND great exercise!!
Eye Toy: Groove is incredibly fun!I was skeptical about how the gameplay would work until I tried it out at Best Buy and then I was SOLD!The technology is amazing, it really picks up movement well. You don't have to be able to dance in order to play, just be willing to flail your arms around like a fool.Multiple modes of play means it doesn't get too boring (although the song selection is somewhat limited - hopefully Groove 2 will be forthcoming). The songs are fun, though, not as good as Amplitude but much better than DDR.Once you get into it you can really get a great workout! Our arms and shoulders were very sore the next day, as well as our legs just from bopping to the beat.

Our only objection so far is that it seems you must enter your name after every single time you play.Since no controller is involved, you have to enter your name by waving your hands around and selecting the letters. For some reason these targets seem less sensitive, so entering your name wears you out at least as fast as actually playing. We just got the game yesterday, so perhaps we'll figure out a way around this as we keep going.

4-0 out of 5 stars Coolest thing I've ever seen!
The day Eyetoy: Groove came out I bought it! It requires hitting, waving, swiping and a lot of movment! It even has a calorie counter so you can see how many calories you have burnt! Also TWO people can dance at the SAME TIME! Here is a tip for all Eye Toy players: when it tells you what to do in the beginning push start on the controller and it will skip it!

3-0 out of 5 stars EyeToy Party! My House! Be There!
Man let me tell you how good I am at this game. I suck at DDR but man oh man I can really tear through this one like tissue paper...WORD! If you've played EyeToy Play, Groove is pretty much the beats game in it with the cds and the speakers. Its a lot harder though cause the make you do different motion other than fist fist fist fist (you guys know what I'm talking about) It got REAL SONGS and most of them are REALLY BAD SONGS!!!! I just wish there were more modes to this game, its kinda all the same. But I'm gonna go practice and the try out for the next Wade Robson Project. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Exelent Game
I've had this game for a couple of month's now. It's a great game overall, there's really nothing wrong with the gameplay, audio graphics and it never gets boring. The only thing that could be changed and was changed in sly 2 is that you don't really have any freedom in roaming around the enviroments. I reccomend this game to anyone but you should buy it with sly 2 and the upcoming sly 3 (Supposedly coming out in fall 2005)

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow What A Great Game!!!
This is a great game!!! It is easy for anyone to become addicted to! It is one of the very few games that I have gotten all the way through. If you are looking for a GREAT game for PS2 grap Sly Cooper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great action game
Sly Cooper is a game that could have easily escaped all notice- at first glance it probably looked too cartoonish to some older gamers, and the game play may have turned out to be a bit difficult for some kids. The game evidently took off though, and its success is certainly deserved, as its a very entertaining gaming experience. The gameplay is basically "linear" - you run straight through the missions without a lot of side missions - but the graphics are so impressive it seems a bit more complex. The game looks great, and gameplay is challenging without being maddeningly difficult (with the possible exception of finding some of the bottles).Overall, this game is well worth checking out, along with its more complex sequel.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sly Cooper pulls off a slick operation...
I first saw previews for this game in a magazine and thought the "cell-shading" graphics looked cheap and unprofessional. By the time the game came out, I couldn't wait to buy it. I recieved the game as an A Honor Roll present, and it was excellent. The graphics are incredibly smooth and all-out amazing. I now actually prefer this style to the traditional 3-D graphics. The shadows amazed me.

I loved to play this game because the controls are so easy to master it makes you feel light and quick. Many a time I felt like I was a light-footed, smooth-talking raccoon. Certainly, Sucker Punch achieved the thievy, quick-like action Sly should have. Another thing that amazed me was the storyline. The characters are perfectly placed and make you see the "bad" thieves because Sly is evidently a "good-guy with morals" deep down. Sometimes very deep down. The only thing was that I wanted more! The game really wasn't as long as most other games. Finding all 30 clue bottles in each of the levels wasn't extremely difficult, although some gave me trouble. Also, the music is exciting and intertaining, unlike so much of the annoying music we get on other video games. My personal favorite music was on the Panda King's domain :) The time trials were challenging, but not so impossible like collecting all the precursor orbs on Jak 2 and Jak 3 (bleh).

I was extremely happy when Sucker Punch came out with another excellent game, Sly 2: Band of Theives. I would strongly suggest buying both of them, as the first one is a kind of introdution of all characters and getting Sly's book back, and the 2nd is more involving with a much more complex storyline. Both of the games were excellent, but this one just wasn't long enough. 5 stars for the pure fun and excitment, 4 stars because it was just a little too short. Another thing, you DO NOT need to buy any guides whatsoever to complete this game. Have fun exploring all the interesting worlds that Sly visits on his exciting journeys.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like it
Sly Cooper is a sneaky raccoon who is trying to steal back his family's book, Thievious Raccoonous. He has to go through dangerous challenges to get back his family's book. He is in love with Inspector Fox. She is a fox who is after Sly Cooper. Sly Cooper is a fun game. I enjoyed playing it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I cant even play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OKA lot of peopl ear ecomplaining about how the game sucks & how the game is terrible...but I cant even do that..

Why????

Because it wont even play on my playstation!!Yeah... I thought when i bought it the first time it was scratched or something... but i bought it again & again.. .& it still doesnt work...Not till i went to an actual store did i find the problem.

The clerk told me the BLLUE discs used ror some playstation games dont work on older playstation 2's! I take really good care of mine so i dont have to buy new consoles every few years.. but cmon...I cant even play the game to see how bad it is... thats lame.

2-0 out of 5 stars Its OK after a little editing
First off, this game has NO replay value, is not hard at all and the Dinosaurs are tame as a dog.I myself have never had an unintentional breakout, the Dinosaurs tend to drop into a Coma before trying to break out.The Site B mode gets old twice as fast as the normal Park Builder mode. There are sites out there with guides on how to make all the Dinosaurs available, and then make it possible to make hundreds of Dinosaurs, I've even made it possible to have 300 fossil teams. In theory you can edit the game to make Dinosaurs more aggressive. The other downside, no flying Dinosaurs and Dinosaurs cannot reproduce (Which is a huge downside in Site B mode). The in-game messages boarder on Game Spam, and when visitors leave your park unhappy, you get a message that says they left, and for what reason, but not how to fix it.

In short, this game would have been better with some more work on the part of the Developers, the visuals are excellent, but the gameplay fell short.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Jonathan here. I was happy with my game atleast until I decided to go on the internet and look up stuff for the game. Befor I did this though I didn't like the way you could only get 9 Dinos. When I entered the internet I relized I could get 15 or them all. So i was very dissaponted with it. So if you want a good game get Jurassic Park Operaion Genesis for COMPUTER OR XBOX NOT I REPEAT NOT PS2. The game also on Xbox has advanced graphics with a day and night period and with a advanced Spin attack when under water. Also the Pc has day and night with the spin attack and a hidden dinosaur model, the igunadon, in the files. The computer also alaws you to hack. The only disadvantage is you don't have as many cheats. But the cheats can easliy be done by reading instructions on websites and hacking. The Xbox version has the same cheats i believe as the ps2. So if you want Jpog get the Pc or Xbox.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible
This game is the worst jurassic park operation genesis. I would recommend the pc or xbox version. Yes u get 25 dinosaurs to CHOSE from but not to have all at ONCE. you can only get 3 dig sites oh lets see in every dig site u get 3 diffenrnt dinosaurs so a total of 9 dinos in a park. Thats right 9. In xbox u can get 5 dig sites so 5x3=15. Plus in the pc u can hack and then get ALL thats right ALL dinos. Plus dont hack and get 15 still. The xbox also has days and nights. Ps2 no day or night. pc i don't know but probley. Xbox and pc way better graphics then ps2.

4-0 out of 5 stars good for a bit
this game is really good for a bit but after a few months it gets more and more boing . the idea of it is to make a park full of dinosaurs and stop the visitors getting ripped to shreads( thoutgh that is half the fun) this game has a downside which is that you can get 3 dig sights out of 9 so you to amke a new game to get different dinosaurs L1 up L1 down L1 gets you 10'000 dolars. id buy this game if you like jarrasic park and if you dont just rent ... 5-0 out of 5 stars DEF. WORTH THE $$$
First off, i did not buy the Sony brand cable.I bought a Madcatz brand one for $14.99 from Gamestop (thats all they had).I bought this cable because i recently bought a new tv that supports component video. It is NOT an HDTV so i didn't expect it to make a huge difference, but boy was i surprised!Games/movies were sharper and the colors were richer.Def. a noticable difference.I can only imagine the quality you would get if you had an HDTV.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1080i in GT4, the only way is with these...
If you want to experiance something awesome play GT4 with these component video cables and your surround sound hooked up with Driving Force Pro as your controller. You can try out this setup at Best Buy right now. If you have an HDTV and you have 20 dollars by this. Regular SD games look crisper as well. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! for FFXI the difference is awesome...
Now I can say I am playing the game! the cable literally opened my eyes to the definition of the colors and images of the game... I am using a flat screen Samsung TV and game looks awesome! {Component Cable} {Can I have it?} {Yes, Please}

5-0 out of 5 stars Produces a Great Picture.
Prior to buying these component cables, I had been playing my PS2 with composite cable, connected through my VCR.The result of this: soft, muddy, and dull graphics. After purchasing Final Fantasy XI for my console, I heard quite a few times how the PC version is far superior visually.I had enough of my inferior video and audio experiences, so I purchased a new televsion, and these cables. The result: CRISP, CLEAN, VIBRANT images. The first time I turned on FFXI with these cables, the difference visually was as clear as day.The various imagery in the game, from trees, rocks, the sky, the terrain, and the characters pop out and are very well defined. They all seem to have the depth that I was missing all this time. The text present in the game has also become much clearer.I am proud to say that I can now enjoy this game at the same level visually as PC gamers enjoy theirs. My PS2 has gotten a major face lift.

3-0 out of 5 stars AV ComponentvrS/Video
I just bought the component AV cable from a 3rd party company and already has the S/video cables (3rd party too) . I've read that AV component it's much better than S video, and tha's why I bought it. But is not!.AV component seems to be a little better than standard AV cables (RCA). S video gives an extraordinary brilliance to images. Video Component looks opaque, maybe Monster cables works better. In summary:
1- S/Video
2- AV component
3- Standar Av cables (rca)

Could it be 'cause they are 3rd party. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a very good game but gets kind of Repetitive
this game is one of the best rpgs i have ever play with the the plot so Impressive but, here it comes you have to go to dungons over and over agin its sad. the battle sysem is real time so thats great and you get difrent looking wepons but so far where i am in the game no matter what difrent types of armor you put on your out look doesn't change but this is an Excellent game one of the best rpg i've ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars YES!!!
YESS!!!!I LOVE THIS GAME!!!I have been a fan of the .hack manga and anime forever, and this game was great!!!

I really suggest you look at the manga and anime before you buy the game.If you don't like that you probably won't like the game.If you STILL insist on playing the game, check it out at the video rental shop, k?That way we dont get people claiming it was a total waste of money here ;)

Oh, when you buy a game it's basically like saying that you are going to play the game in the future. If you DONT play games more than once, yea, you did waste your money.

For those who are pissy about how people liked this game partially because of the anime, you should probably realize that the game was made from the anime. In order to completely get it you have to look over manga, anime, card games etc. Thus, THEY GET IT MORE THAN YOU DO.THE ANIME AND THE GAME FEED INTO EACH OTHER, SO IF YOU LOVED THE ANIME YOU'LL PROBABLY LOVE THE GAME, morons...:(

Also, I bet that the people who despised this game didnt watch the DVD with the game.THAT IS IMPORTANT.Generally when they give you a DVD with these things it'll help you see the point of the game.

Also, after you play the game you should read the ".hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT" manga. It's a cute little manga.Rena, a beginner player of "The World" wins a contest to gain the character avatars of the legendary .hackers, "Kite" and "Black Rose."Rena gets her brother, Shugo, to play with her.Soon after they enter the fields they encounter a level 40 monster which shouldn't be in the beginners area.Shugo is killed by the monster and wakes up to see Aura and is brought back to life by her kiss. Then she gives the braclet of twilight.Actually I suggest you read it BEFORE AND AFTER the game.

4-0 out of 5 stars The beggining of significant and partly innovative series
This game combines elements of quasi real time combat = Diablo like fighting, and Final Fantasy IX dealing with equipment.

The only way to have magic spells is to have equipment which provides it. Once u remove piece of armor or weapon and replace it, old spells will be lost and new ones will be accesible.

You can go through this game linear, without need to conquer random dungeons in order to power up (no side adventuring neccesary). Scrolls like Hanged man and Moon which paralize enemies are very useful.

This game is easy beggining and will hook you on.

3-0 out of 5 stars initially addictive
I bought this game due to suggestions of everyone around me to go buy it. After playing through this first game, I have to admit, although I didn't find the storyline nor the gaming nearly as interesting as many other games, I was addicted. Immediately, I bought the sequel (which possesses gaming almost IDENTICAL to this first game). The storyline was nothing memorable and despite having played both games only two months ago and having watched .hack//sign, I have almost completely forgotten the entire storyline with the exception of the characters that were also mentioned in .hack//sign (oddly enough, I actually found that anime interesting) The monsters and "worlds" are bland, which is the entire purpose as it is simulating a MMORPG. There are too many irrelevant missions into the same repetitive atmospheres and so by the time I was half-way through the sequel, I was falling asleep. Since this first game is pretty much like the first CD in a multi-CD game, if there's no motivation to continue on the second disk then i would have to say that the first disk is useless as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars I liked it.....
This game is very complicated and if you don't know the multiple story lines i sugest you don't buy the game. This is what happened AFTER the Tsukasa's insidents, just to tell you. I havn't finished the game for i had lost my memory card wich was fixed Christmas when i got one so I just restarted but besides that it is quite hard. Saving is an amazingly IMPORTANT thing and that is what i hate the most. If you don't save and die well time to restart back to the last time you saved. Also this story line is very confusing because of how many characters you meet during the game. If you've just started playing i sugest(sp!) that you get the .Hack//Infection Part One Strategy Guide it is very useful. If you're really into anime and/or .Hack I pray you'll get this game for your own entertainment. During the game it's a good idea to keep an eye on your friends you "Party" with because defeating the "Big Bad Bosses" is the most important thing of the game....It's how you win the game. If you still don't get the story line there's a OVA that comes with it so you won't be very lost but you might need to get the other 3 OVA's to get it entirly well got to see if my .hack//sign dvds came BYE!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well, this Suikoden is...
I've never given four stars to a game I liked, so I won't but this Suikoden has a few problems that may tick Suiko fans off. I especially got hooked on this Suikoden solely because of the Lizard Clan. They are actually what convinced me to give this game five stars, otherwise...it would have received a dreaded four. In any case...

Story: The Suikoden series has always followed an intricate and amassed story of a leader gathering an army to fight against a great threat. This Suiko does not fail here, especially since you play the story roles of not one, but four people. In each story, you guide the central character through a series of events that makes him/her meet up with the other three main heroes. Also, the story of the True Runes is brought into the spotlight more in this Suiko than the previous volume, so if you've been wondering, you should be satisfied with what you learn. However, the whole gathering of the Stars of Destiny bit has taken a nap and is not even mentioned in this game and Leknaat will not be there in classic form to explain it to you.

Characters: The four main characters are Geddoe the Harmonian mercenary, Hugo the Karayan hunter, Commander Chris of the Zexen Knights and Thomas the soon-to-be castle manager. Each of them have their doubts and reasons for being involved in the game's events. Each of them, along with their most trusted group members, are developed enough to not to appear boring. At one point, you will have to choose someone (not Thomas) to be the final leader character to guide the 108 Stars of Destiny and their army to victory. Although, if there are characters who deserve praise, it's definitely the Lizard Clan and the Duck Clan party members. They along with the members of their Clans make for another classic Suiko experience since the previous games also had non-human allies.

Music: Uh-oh. Well I'm not one to complain about music, but I find some songs in this game a little lackluster. The boss, event and town themes are great, but the standard battle themes are very mediocre because they sound either too perky or too lacking. The standard battle theme is very important in RPGs, so if it stinks, it's hard to enjoy combat. This game also seemed to lack a good song of sadness, which is surprising since the other two Suikos had heartbreaking sad themes.

Gameplay: Another gripe here. Map travel is quite annoying in this game since in order to get a certain area, you are required to go through a rather unnecessary hike along a meadow road to get back on the main road. This is something you will end up doing a bit too much and it may bore the heck out of you. Gathering the Stars of Destiny seems to have remain unchanged as you either receive people by story automatically or you go on some errand to earn their aid.

Battle: Double uh-oh. What happened here? The battle system is somewhat of a joke in this game. Thankfully you still can have six people at a time, but you pair up the characters into three teams. What this means is you have three teams of two people who are responsible for each other only. For example, Alanis the mage girl is teamed up with Dupa, the Lizard Clan chief. Alanis can use medicine to heal Dupa but she can't use it on Koruku the dog or Geddoe the mercenary. Also, if you want double combination attacks at all, you must always pair up those same two people (can be annoying if your setup is composed of various characters). Magic also has a new system where there is an actual charge time to spells before they can be cast. The speed is determined by skill level (which you can raise at schools and libraries) and if the character is generally very good with that elemental rune. What makes this bad is that one element has to be cast with caution: fire. If you're not careful with the spell's actual execution, you can end up cooking your teammates instead of the monsters. Thankfully, a turn meter is available during battle to show you the point at which the spell will be cast. On a final note, there is no longer a Rune combination feature for the big spells, so don't bother trying to cast two spells at the same time for a big Rune attack.

System: Well the newest system in this Suiko is the skill system. Skills are the abilities of characters that improve their combat efficiency. Skills are either innate (by level) or bought at learning centers to add to a character's list. Each character can reach a certain grade level with skills. Anything from B+ to S is great while B and below is average/horrible. Skills cost skill points (which are earned after battles) to first attain from a center as well as upgrade. Depending on what the highest letter grade they can attain, the point cost for upgrading can either be grossly high or happily cheap. You can also tell how good a character can be with a skill by reading the skillmaster's comment. If the master says you need way more practice, skip it; if he says you have unbridled potential, grab it. These skills greatly improve your fighting and spellcasting to the point monsters may not ever get a turn in, so you should definitely invest in skills to get anywhere.

Overall: Suikoden 3 is cool in some ways, while quite lame in others, and because of this odd contrast, Suikoden 2 will seem way better to fans of the series. Give it a try if you're a fan, otherwise beware the downsides. For completing the game, you do get a nice extra which will please fans of a certain character who has been in all the Suiko games to date. If anything, the game's ups outweigh its downs.

4-0 out of 5 stars pleast suprise
Ok heres the story...your a boy from a native american/aztec ish tribe...your also a leader of a division in the harmonian army....also a knight in the zexen army....my memorys a little fuzzy....u play as these three for three chapters...then u choose who u want to play as for the next two chapters...these peoples destinys are interwinded....the thing i love about this game is that its storyline revolves around war/goverment/politics I LOVE THAT...which is why i really enjoyed this game...the abd thing is theres no voice overs and the bad thing about no voice overs is..i cant pronounce geddoes name...how do u pronounce "geddoe"?

4-0 out of 5 stars An RPG achievement in almost every way.....
Suikoden 3 is an excellent RPG in almost every way imaginable.

The Good: Fun battle system, variety, tons of characters, cool story, trinity sight system, fun feel, combos.

The Bad: Bland graphics and characters. No cutscenes.

Bottom Line: An excellent RPG that should be played by an RPG PS2 owning fan. I highly recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars BORING!Has the World Gone Mad?
To me, the appeal of Suikoden 3 to so many people is one of the world's greatest mysteries, right up there with Roswell, Stonehenge, Easter Island and JFK's assasination. Why did so many people enjoy this game so much?My theory is that someone switched the discs in my game when I bought it, and that I was actually playing a fake version of Suikoden 3 that really, really, REALLY sucked.

Well at any rate, I'll review the game that *I* played.

Suikoden 3 is terrible. It is one of the most boring games I've played in my life, and I played all the way through it.Up to the very end, I kept telling myself that the game MUST get better (based on the reviews I read).Yep, right up to when they started rolling the credits I promised myself the game would get better.

It didn't.Elizabeth R. Powell's review is actually a pretty good description of my experience, though I would disagree with her contention that Hugo's plotline was worth playing. It wasn't.The worst part of the game hands are the game triggers (those events that happen when you enter a certain place that "triggers" the game to progress). Some of the game triggers are so random it's ridiculous.Sometimes, the game doesn't even tell you what you need to do next (like the chapter you spend recruiting people, and you have to talke to EVERYBODY in ALL the towns you visit).I spent countless wasted hours running from screen to screen trying to figure out how to progress that damn game, baffled because apparently I was supposed to know I to go to some remote corner of the castle to speak with some character I've never even met before. How in the world was I supposed to know to do that? And of course the overly high random encounter rate, coupled with the boring terrain and terrible music made the whole experience dreadful.

The story hardly makes up for the game either. In fact, if the game had good gameplay, I'd probably complain about the boring storyline. The uninspiring characters make you think Konami game designers flung darts at a personality chart to come up with their characters.

All in all, not even worth a rental. But I do implore you, if you are the least bit curious about the game based on the other reviews (reviewers bribed by Konami no doubt, CONSPIRACY I tell you), RENT, don't buy, the game.Don't worry, I'm sure you won't mind if you don't finish it in time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great story
Most of the next gen RPGs have great cuts scene and graphics, but no real story or game play substance. This is the first ps2 RPG that seems to have a great mixture of everything. No annoying 10-minute cut secences. Lots of action, memerobal characters and much as 100 + game play. There are a few minor problems, and some areas seemed unfinished. Looking forward to Suikoden IV. ... Read more
