Editorial Review Pulsating rhythms aside, Wipeout 3 offers players a wild ride through eight distinct tracks. It will take more than perpetual motion to make it to the end of each race. In order to complete each timed race, gamers are required to hit strategically placed power ups while navigating many near-impossible turns. The heart-racing action offers a tough challenge for dedicated games, but Wipeout 3 ultimately does not offer any significant improvement over earlier titles in the acclaimed series. --Brett Atwood Pros: Reviews (22)
I have had one copy or another of this game for almost five years. I've probably logged a thousand hours on it easy, as sad as it sounds, and I still can barely hold my own in the top "official" difficulty level, the Rapier class (especially on the harder tracks)... but for whatever reason, that doesn't hack me off like it would on any other game (I'm not a gamer and get frustrated very easily with needlessly difficult games, because I'd rather do other things with my time). I get this game out every six months or so and get hooked all over again, and actually want to find and thank the developers. I've played pretty much every other game in the series, and this one creams them all (it beats the earlier ones due to the graphics and especially analog support, which adds SO much to the game... and they all pretty much destroy Wipeout Fusion). This isn't the best racing game of all time-- it's the best game, period. No other game ever released has this combination of feel, substance, replay value, addictiveness, pure eye candy, and-- yes-- great music (and I hate techno, honestly). I don't understand how it's not a "classic" game, let alone how it's possible that it's so overlooked that you can get a copy for $4 used, let alone that you're not BUYING ONE OF THESE COPIES RIGHT NOW instead of reading this. If you've never played this game, and you're ready for a serious challenge that will endure for the entire life of your PS2 (or PS1!), buy it. Now. Don't even think twice.

Playing Ray Crisis gave me exactly same taste/feeling, which I felt when I was walking out of the movie theatre. First installment, Galatic Attack, also known as Layer Section in Japan, was an awesome shooter games. It was great enough to be compared to be those great shooter games out there such as Radiant Silvergun and Shienryu. It was beautifully drawn, each level was designed with lot of thought, even the title of each stage was inspiring, coupled with excellent music by Zuntata. Now, with all the good things said about first two games of the series... Trust me, I was dying to play this very game. When I played it through, I was left with this emptiness.I might have enjoyed it up to certain extent if I haven't played the first two installment. However, first two installment were way up there in terms of gameplay, graphic, music, ending, etc, Ray Crisis just does not live up to the 'legacy' of the series, just like Alien 3 the Movie. I don't want to get into the detail why I was disappointed, gameplay(what happened?), GRAPHIC(it looks worse then Ray Storm???), music(not intuitive), etc. I thought about how to describe this disappointment and came up with perfect description. NO 'SOUL' HAS BEEN PUT INTO RAY CRISIS, PERIOD. It's a decent game. It's good enough to be enjoyed. However, it's no near to be in same level with either Layer Section or Ray Storm. What a disappointment, what a disappointment...

Editorial Review Wisely, the game integrates a training mode as a must-play startercourse before advancing to the mission-based aerial challenges. However, don't expect to snooze your way through the missions: thedynamic vocal host spouts out plenty of snide and witty remarks to keepgamers on their toes. Also, excellent carnival-like music accompanieseach bit of the game, including menu screens, training levels, andvarious gaming segments. Extremely touchy controls emulate the realthing, while the game provides words of encouragement to help youmaster dangerous stunts such as loops, rolls, and even inverted flight. With rich gameplay and helpful flying tips, this game achieves the rarefeat of teaching while it entertains. A must-own! --JeffYoung Pros: Cons: Reviews (7)
The layout of this game sucks. Your restricted to a little peice of land for each stage, so if your looking for a game where you can fly around and explore, then this is not your game. I personally have never flown a remote controlled copter before, but if this game is accurate, then I'm not ever going to waste my money on something that will end up having an ultimate destiny of being smashed to pieces out of frustration. So is this game worth it? Maybe, if you get it really, really, really cheap, or if you have already mastered remote controlled copters in the real world. If they make another one of these games, then they need to add a whole lot more to it. Some may like it, but I don't. No stars!
I kept hearing it was really hard and frustrating, but I just went through the training first, and it helped me get my skills up high enough to manage just fine. Then Islowly made my way up to harder and harder copters.Great sense ofprogression! Something I didn't expect at all was the humor. There is avoice giving surprisingly intelligent feedback to just about everything youdo, and he's really funny. And there's a 'virtual' hand you can throw upto block the screen when you're playing against someone else in the2-player mode. And the whole time you're learning to fly a real r/chelicopter!I've never flown one myself, but now that I can manage the Acecopter in this game,I can't wait to give it a try with a real one, andmaybe even buy one myself if I can afford it. Very unique...a greatbreath of fresh air!

Editorial Review You control the now-famous Rayman, a strange character with no arms orlegs (although he has feet and hands) and a propeller on his head. Somemay look at this as just another game where players run around and jumpall the time, but the charming graphics and incredibly tight controlselevate Rayman into special territory. The difficulty level isjust right at the beginning, letting players get a feel for Rayman'sbasic moves. Later levels require more advanced tricks and precisejumps, but the game is never unfair--something few 2-D side-scrollinggames can claim. If you can get past the too-cute graphics and see themfor the lush, imaginative visuals they are, the gameplay should keep youhooked for days. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (17)

Gameplay:6/10: Fairly fun for a while but then you win 100 times. Man, this game gets boring quickly, so win the Grand Prix and then quit the game FOREVER! Graphics:4/10: Cartoonish graphics just like the gameplay. The characters look like their animated self while the background seems mushy and not good. Sound:3/10: It gets old after hearing Boop, bop, beep, boop, bop, beep over and over again. Control:7/10: The cars are easy to control but they do go crazy at times like when you crash, you get in last usually. Overall:20/40: I think that equals 2 and a half stars! But, since I can't seem to do halves, it rounds up to a 3! That's better than my Gadget Racers review!!!!! Maybe, soon, you'll see me again in one of my review things. See ya later!

Sound: 5/10 – Relaxing, swift and sweet snowboard sounds, but the boulders could have made more noise, the music could have been more exciting and the sound editing is ... . Value: 7/10 – While this is fun and challenging with cheats to die for, there are simply much better Cool Boarders games. Overall: 7/10 – This is not the greatest snowboarding game ever, but it is entertaining and nicely designed with good gameplay. I enjoyed playing it. It is better with 2 players and I recommend finding the cheats before playing.

You can play as either team, the monstars (which are not very good, and they can't do special dunks) or the tune squad (which are a lot better, and they do real cool dunks). In between each period you can play mini games, some are good and some are bad, but they're good to have for a little more fun and they can make you faster, stronger or better at rebounds which is even better. Besides that you can play the single player game there is another option called intergalactic tournament, where 2 players can vs each other. This is probably the best feature of the game, which is great fun. It is 2-dimensional but i think it is better like that. There is one last thing, you can do some real cool dunks with the toon squad. Overall i give it 9 out of 10! P.S the reason i gave it 9 and not 10 is because there should be more things to do, but it's still great!
P.S. You definitely won't regret buying this game. ... Read more

Editorial Review After choosing from a selection of characters (each with varying strengths), you can traverse four different courses using a futuristic all-terrain cycle. The well-designed tracks will challenge even veterans of the earlier Jet Moto titles. You will feel the cycle slipping on the ice of the Khumbu Icefall and develop a lump in your stomach as you jump over Devil's Canyon. On the down side, close-up views are difficult to manage, as the field of vision can easily be lost. This is especially a problem in the two-player, split-screen view. While some gamers may grow tired of this game fairly quickly, there is enough meat here to keep racing fans interested until the courses are mastered. Learning the subtleties of each course can prepare hard-core racers for the game's more advanced seasonal competitions and racing circuits. --Sal Barcia Pros: Reviews (11)
I also noticed that, just like with the first2 JMs, two player mode really is awful. No matter which way the screen issplit, you practically have tunnel vision and is can be very dizzying(andimpossible).Well, just a thought. ... Read more

Editorial Review The menu screens feature clanging guitars and jolting graphics that putyou in the mood for adrenaline-rushing action. Once you hit the slope, you'll immediately encounter high-speed rough-and-tumble racingfeaturing huge jumps and varied terrain. From riverbeds to steep cityroads, No Fear Downhill Mountain Bike Racing is filled withchallenging race environments. While the graphics aren't as crisp asthey could be, the speed is certainly here, and when players switch toa behind-the-handlebars viewpoint they'll know what it's like to treadthe thin line between fear and control. Six riders are available, each flaunting personality and differentstrengths. Upgrades such as lighter frames or better tires are awardedafter beating three separate opponents on each track. A strength meter decreases after holding the pedal button down for longperiods of time. Players will learn to let the bike coast on downhillsegments, supplying the riders with bursts of strength for pedaling onflat or uphill segments. This strategy, mixed with the visceral thrillof racing, makes No Fear Downhill Mountain Bike Racing anexhilarating experience. --Jeff Young Pros: Cons: Reviews (5)

Amazon.com Review In terms of playability, EA Sports has added some nice new features. Players arerewarded with collectable in-game Madden Cards by performing certain tasks, which can be used to unlock secret game codes, players, stadiums, and legendaryNFL teams. Also, you can trade those cards with friends using the PlayStationmemory card. Enhancing the replayability of Madden NFL 2001 is a newtwo-minute drill feature that allows up to 10 players to compete for the highestscore. The game does have a couple of trouble areas. The CPU play isn't all thatsynched with the gameplay, resulting in some very strange calls and plays. JohnMadden's commentary is stocked with only a few phrases, which are used adnauseam. While not perfect, the sound effects and crowd noises are stillpreferable to the whiny blips of the N64 version. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (45)

Editorial Review Gameplay varies considerably from the original game. While your goal is to still to shoot and survive, there are now six worlds and 30 levels to conquer. Retro gaming purists may scoff at the colorful new environments, which have replaced the generic black background of the original game. However, the 3-D game design now allows for dangerous enemies to creep up from any angle (which they often do). Fortunately, the controls have also been updated to allow you to strategically jump over approaching enemies. --Brett Atwood Pros: Reviews (5)
As my eyes met the screen, I viewed the most boring ... color-textures I have ever seen in a video game. A dorky little 7 year old, with way too large glasses and freaky haircut, who was the chosen one to rid the world of the centipedes. Not much of a storyline; it was more amusing to play Centipede without a story in the arcade. And like I said, the graphics were terrible. All was blocky, untextured and really showed proof that it was carelessly animated by a group of amateurs. Getting past the horrible graphics and boring storyline, lets move on to the term they call 'sound' in the game. It has to be a cold day in hell when squeaky, toneless, flarvorless bits of crunchy tunes and smushed talking has to be looked at as sound. Besides the crunched up sound, the boring gameplay consists of rescuing tiny pipsqueaks and 'protecting' their houses from the jumping spiders (which also look and sound incredibly [weak]). Parts of the game also consist of driving around aimlessly, so do yourself and your money a favor...don't waste a penny on this game.
The only saving grace is that this hasa decent version of the classic Centipede arcade version from the early1980's. This is still very primitive video game fun, if you liked playingit back then. If you buy this, understand that only the classic versionwill be any fun. The new version is very sluggish and low-tech looking fora 3-D game.
