Editorial Review The gameplay in Eagle One: Harrier Attack is solid, with simplecontrols and a well-designed training mode that does an especially goodjob of acclimating gamers to the hover mode of the Harrier and rescuehelicopter. In addition to being able to play from a first- or third- person viewpoint, players can manipulate an external camera view to geta better (or different) look at things around the aircraft when thegame is paused; replays can be watched in the same fashion. --JoeHon Pros: Cons: Reviews (4)

In the tower they happen so often by the time you have figured out what direction your facing after a battle your already in another battle. A battle about every 2 squares(easy battles too. but time consuming) is enough to drive anyone batty. Because of of the frequency of battles in some spots(way more then any other rpg game ive played.) this game become worthless. The only rpg game that i have that i haven't finished and do not intend to finish. Im sure the programmers intended to pad the hours playing with frequent battles but they just manage to turn the game into a worthless "paper weight" ... Read more

Editorial Review Le Mans wins the award for presentation with a cool intro movieand a British announcer who details every track and car in depth. Thereis even an advanced telemetry feature that pinpoints where driversaccelerated and decelerated. It also communicates speed and the pointsin the race where you achieve maximum speed. Even with all of its finely rendered cars, the tracks in Le Mansare a bit lacking in terms of shading and realism. But as far as racinggames go, it's the only Le Mans game out there (at the time of thisreview, at least). --Robb Guido Pros: Reviews (7)
Stepping backward from the PS2 Le Mans 24 Hours to the PSX Test Drive Le Mans is very a eye-opening experience. In Quick Race mode, where car adjustments such as fuel and aerodynamics are not available, car handling is VERY twitchy, to the extent that even the cars with the best handling characteristics are simply not driveable. Some of the other game modes, however, DO allow for car adjustments; if the right combination can be found, the cars can be driven fairly well... although the cars will still be somewhat twitchy in terms of handling.Le Mans 24 Hours is also more of a simulation-style game, whereas Test Drive Le Mans is much more of an arcade-style game with a (very) few tuning and adjustment options available. What disappointed me most, however, is the 'lack of faithfulness' to the real-world Le Mans circuit... This is most likely due to the limitations of the PlayStation itself (the console for which the game was designed), but this also means that there is no true sense of the immense length of the world-famous Mulsanne/Hunaudieres straight; also, there are also virtually NO elevation changes in Test Drive Le Mans. For those with any level of familiarity with Le Mans 24 Hours, the Le Mans circuit in Test Drive Le Mans is definitely recognizable, but also very much an abomination :-( Just to clarify, Test Drive Le Mans is definitely NOT a bad game! However, despite being an arcade-style game, Test Drive Le Mans definitely does require better-than-average driving skills. As such, it is NOT a good game for young children, as they will quickly become frustrated at their lack of success (especially in Quick Race mode). Some measure of patience is certainly required in any driving game, but Test Drive Le Mans requires a lot more patience than any other driving/racing game I have ever played - either on PlayStation OR PlayStation2.

Editorial Review The first thing players will notice about this game is that it containsan extreme number of tricks made simple by an easy-to-learn controlscheme. A training session moves players comfortably through the basicsand into tournament mode, which offers eight skate parks from aroundNorth America and even one in London. A ninth level, known as the dreamhouse, becomes available only after players master all previous levels. Grind Session throws all sorts of objectives at players. Notonly must they rack up trick points and disturb trashcans, pigeons, andother items, but they must also attempt to follow technical lines thatwill have skaters leaping across buildings, among other feats. Forevery completed objective, players earn respect points, which can openup photo shoots as well as that bonus ninth level. As expected, Grind Session is set to rock tunes with a littlehip-hop tossed in for good measure. The result may resemble ProSkater a little too closely, but that doesn't make GrindSession any less fun. --Robb Guido Pros: Reviews (32)
Grind session has 5 playable characters, about 10 levels, and lots of secret characters.on each level, you have to do tricks to get pro points, which you use to unlock other levels. there are also objects you can break to earn extra pro points. there are also 2 contest levels. when you do alot of harder tricks, you can fillup a meter that makes your guy move faster. also it makes him spin easier.

Editorial Review The Lost in Time theme puts Bugs in control of a time machine, and he'll need to collect carrots to open up levels set in the Stone Age, the 1930s, on a pirate ship, and in a creepy mansion. All of Bugs' biggest rivals make cameos in this addictive game. There's Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Witch Hazel, and everyone's favorite Martian, Marvin. Bugs can grab things, throw objects, roll, and give foes a swift kick in the rump. He can even dive into holes and travel underground. Hard-core gamers may hop past this one, but arcade-action lovers won't tire of this game quickly. With puzzles, fun boss battles, and lots of humor, Lost in Time is worth a look. --Robb Guido Pros: Features Reviews (12)

Editorial Review As in the cartoon, the game's graphics are relatively simplistic. However, the cameraangles do get a bit dicey at times, since the kids' big heads can often block your view ofthe action. In addition, the frequently shifting perspectives sometimes result in a suddenreversal of your control response, which can be frustrating during time-sensitivemoments. Nonetheless, this 1999 winner of the Parents Choice Award for the 4- to10-year-old category is a great way for parents and their young children to play together.--Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (16)

Editorial Review Where the previous game in the series had you running from the law, this one has you racing for pink slips. Sure, you can still playcops and robbers (this time even playing the role of John Q. Law),but the real fun in this game comes from racing to win so that you canbuy a better car. Once equipped with faster wheels, you can hook upwith a friend to race for titles in the two-player mode. High Stakes boasts the best graphics in the series, but theycome at a price: slowdown. All too frequently, we found ourselveshitting a wall or an opponent's vehicle because the game stuttered aswe drove into a graphics-intensive portion of the track. Good visualsare nice, but they should never come at the expense of gameplay. Still, when else will you get a chance to blow away a buddy's shiny newMcLaren F1 in your "lowly" Corvette? --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Features Reviews (26)
In many ways, the best part of the game is not the actual racing. The first thing you have to do is choose a car, and there are at least nineteen cool little speed demons at your beck and call (and even more later on if and when you have enough cash to move up in the world). If you can't decide which car you want, you can take a trip to the car showroom and hear all sorts of details about the specifications and features of each model available.Serious players can build, update, and customize any car to make it his/her pride and joy, yet really serious players have the high stakes option of putting their money where their mouths are (i.e., racing for pink slips) - you lose the race, you lose your car. The tracks are really quite diverse and require different driving styles; when you have to deal with a number of hairpin turns, you'd better be a better driver than I am.Different environments help make each race unique, as you might have to battle bad weather, additional passenger traffic, and the darkness of night.Of course, you don't have to just go out there and race cold turkey; you can take all the time you want running test laps and getting a feel for each track. You also have the option of racing in single events or competing in tournaments. My favorite aspect of this game, though, is the Hot Pursuit option. Here, you can choose either to run from the law or climb inside a police car (which can vary depending on the country in which you are driving) and play Smokey to some other guy's Bandit. You even get to bang against and all but wreck fleeing speeders in your quest to enforce the law.Whichever side of the law you choose to play, you are privy to all sorts of great police radio chatter.Speeders will have to evade not one cop alone but a whole group of them, and these cops coordinate their pursuit tactics.Roadblocks, spike strips, and a bevy of cruisers trying to block you in can all make for quite an exciting challenge. Need For Speed: High Stakes is getting a little long in the tooth now, as is the original Playstation console, but the game is still a lot of fun to play when you just want to goof around for a little while.Serious gamers will unlock cars and tracks that more casual players may never see for themselves, but any novice can pop in the CD and entertain himself/herself with a world of fun features.

There are some games that DEFINE what a game of their genre should be. What Raiden is to a shooter, and Mario is to a platformer. One of the games that define racing games as a whole is this masterpiece. Namco has made many racing games. Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Revolution, Rage Racer, and Ridge Racer Type Four that I can think of. But the best of all of these is Rage Racer. Granted, the graphics may be old, they may have glimmery re-draw, pop-up, and seams between sections of road. But the graphics have STYLE. When you drive past that waterfall, and over those paved stones, when the TIME OF DAY changes in an instant from day to sunset to night, it's simply incredible. There are only four tracks (and they are all variations on the same track), but those tracks are PERFECT. You can race them over and over and over and never get tired of them. The controls may be digital, but man are they great. And the music is the best of what makes a Namco game a Namco game. All in all, this game is essential to those who consider themselves serious racing game fans. And at the price it's going for now it'd be criminal not to own it.

This game is simple. 3-on-3, smash or be smashed, and play some simple hockey ! While nowhere near a hockey sim, the basic rules do the job nicely. Character animation is good, but not great, though special effects and sound effects are hilarious. There are plenty of trick moves and special shots that allow the wimpy "finesse" players survive and even win against the big bad bruiser sized players. Either style of play you choose, you'll have fun. Well done. ... Read more
