Editorial Review

Mario Kart 64, one of the first games released for the Nintendo 64platform, is an updated translation of the very popular Super Mario Kart for theSuper NES (SNES). And while the game clearly takes full advantage of the graphicspower and speed of the N64, a few components that made the original so compellinghave been left out of this release.

Still, Nintendo's expertise at sucking players into the game world is strongly evident, andMario Kart 64 offers enough challenges to keep players (especially casualgamers) entertained. Placing a familiar Nintendo personality behind the wheel of asputtering kart powered by a 50, 100, or 150-cc engine, the game lets players racecomputerized opponents or up to four other players on a variety of well-designed tracks.Because karts lack the power and speed of race cars, drivers must focus on collectingpower-ups and nonlethal weapons rather than negotiating hairpin turns on two wheels.Grabbing and using on-track items is the heart of the game's fun: a strategically-placedbanana peel sends the unlucky victim into a spin, nailing an opponent with a turtle shelllaunches their vehicle skyward, and a rocket provides a quick boost to near-breakneckspeeds, if only for a moment.

The multiplayer mode provides enormously chaotic fun for up to four players--flip it onat a party and watch the guests congregate around the screen. --Eric Twelker

Pros:

  • Well-designed tracks
  • Simple controls
  • Strong multiplayer appeal
Cons:
  • Computerized opponents sometimes pull off questionable feats

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This was the first 'Kart' game quite like this.. there isn't any 'Kart' game like this either outside of the Mario franchise. If you think you can find a better Karting game out there, I'd like to see you find it and show me, because from my finds and plays, this is the only game that is worth playing. From DK to Bowser, Peach to Toad, this game has most of the characters that have been involved with Mario in some way. The graphics are great for its time, the sound is fun, the worlds are colorful, the idea is great. Who wouldn't like this game- at ANY age? I'm not sure, but if you don't, you amy need to see a doctor. This is the best Kart game ever, and the best Mario Kart game ever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
This game is so fun. I gave it 4 stars because there is'nt much 2 do. I think this is #1 graphics. Buy this game.

3-0 out of 5 stars One of funnest games on the N64
Mario Kart 64 Launched with the N64 and it sure did good with the sales but Ultimatley this is disapointing.Mario Kart Succeds in graphics departure but Fails at the boring over and over gameplay that you indure in the game.Don't get me wrong this is a great game but it just pretty much fail to fun factor.Back when I got this game when It first came out I simply loved it but after the next day it kind of got boring for me.The game is great but fails with the overuse of boring driving and nothing exciting happens. If it were up to me I would have addes some really cool Driving maze level(yeah it does sound lame but what ever)

In Graphics the game is simply superb. It really does make the N64 a really good lookin' system. The level desighning and great setups make it one of the better looking N64 back in the days when it was still popular..It truly does make some Ps games look like crap.

The sound is pretty average...ehh I rather not go into that..

NOW.......The gameplay..
It just get's boring after awhile and nothing special happens and the single player is pretty short. But cool......
And that's pretty much it.

The Multiplayer is pretty fun.I had a blast playing it with my friends. It really is fun but like I said before...Nothing special.

When it all comes down to this. The boring yet kind of fun gameplay, Great Graphics but doesn't help gameplay, Really fun MP but still fails to succeed in fun factor(well atleast to me)

I give Mario Kart 64 a 3.4 stars out of 5

Lates..

1-0 out of 5 stars terrible
This is a mario rip off of REAL racing games. Also the stupid cartoonish karts go 14 mph.

4-0 out of 5 stars good for N64
I'd recommend buying it used to save some money. The tracks are nice and the game play is all right. It's just not the same as playstation racing games though. ... Read more

Editorial Review

All of your favorite Nintendo characters have come together to answer the question: who is king of the Nintendo hill? The format can aptly be described as Super Mario Kart meets Mortal Kombat, which makes for an odd, yet addictive game. The object is to throw, punch, smash, or blast your opponents off the edge of the beautifully rendered, themed arenas. Numerous power-ups, weapons, and surprises help or hinder the melee. Your eventual goal is to fight your way through to a bizarre final boss character. Victory in this battle rewards you with another character to play, such as the scene-stealing Pokémon, Jigglypuff.

From Star Fox's laser pistol to Link's hook shot, each character's trademark special abilities are utilized to knock one another off the screen. The game does a great job balancing the characters' widely differing powers so that no one character has an insurmountable advantage. The sound and animations are also dead-on: Donkey Kong is a huge, cartoonish ape, while Link is much more detailed and realistic. And Pikachu's famous thunder shock attack is accompanied by a fearsome yell of "PIKA!"

Unlike most fighting games, Super Smash Bros. allows you to team up with a computer partner and take on other teams in both single and multiplayer modes. But the most fun is had when four human players play in a battle royale. The game quickly becomes a scene of incredibly fun chaos: picture Mario beating up on Luigi, while Donkey Kong is chased by a scampering, sledgehammer-wielding Pikachu. It's the perfect party game. --Hugh Arnold

Pros:

  • Great characters: Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Link, Star Fox, Yoshi, and more
  • Simple gameplay
  • Computer partner option
  • Colorful arenas
Cons:
  • Limited number of arenas

3-0 out of 5 stars Okey for a while
If you love Meele, you will not enjoy this. If you have this you would say it was fun for about.... 3 weeks. 4 maybye. I think the game is excellent but it was'nt addicting at all. But Meele is still my favourite game and is fun to play. So buy it if you hate being addicted.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best fighting game ever
If you're into pretty colors and flashy graphics, and care much less about actually having controller inputs match character actions, go ahead and get SSB:Melee instead. It's got a general "random" feel to it and skill isn't as important as luck and drooling mindlessly over the images on the screen.

However, if you prefer to buy a fighting game because...it's a fighting game, and not pathetic eye-candy, the original SSB is godly. The controls are extremely precise, and it's possible to execute combos to near perfection. Indeed, combos are key to this game, something most players seem not to understand. Melee seems to have been created to eliminate combos and reduce fighting to random hacking and button-mashing; this is perfectly suited to mentally deficient monkeys, but humans with brains might prefer something that takes a little bit of skill. The only problem with SSB is that the combos can become degenerate, and certain characters are simply not viable, but most players don't seem good enough to take advantage of this (almost no one thinks Jigglypuff is anything more than a pathetic waste of a spot, for instance) so enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars The memories...
Oh my gosh, this was the greatest game ever made (besides Zelda). Anyway, you get to be alot of Nintendo charicters and...BEAT UP EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!!!! Well, not beat up, more like, nock them off of the edge. OVERALL:This game is the best.

The game that launched the Nintendo 64 system stands the test of time as one of the first andbest exploratory action/adventure games. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but
Okay, the game is very addicting. The sound, graphics, gameplay is all great! But I discoverd something else funer. Super Mario 64 DS. That game is way better. This game is good but that game is something you can't keep your eyes off. Remember when you finish the game and eyerything to do and ther'es nothing left to do, well this DS game has mini games. They are very addicting and fun! You can draw on this as well. The adventure mode takes longer folks. You can play as Yoshi,Luigi,Mario Wario. In The beginning of Super Mario 64,you could just walk in. But thwe DS version is different. You have to collect a rabbit to get in. There is more room's in this castle too with more levels. Instead of collecting 120 stars. You have to collect 150. If you don't have enogh money for a DS and the game but have a N64,dust off the original and have some fun. Or go out and buy your DS and game. Get whatever. You have to play this though. If you don't think I'm right, then you will be sorry.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time may be the greatest single-player video game ever created in any genre. It's that good. Those new to Nintendo's enormously popular Zelda series will be glad to know this game stands completely on its own. Our hero, Link, starts the game as a young boy living in a magical forest village populated by elf-like children. But there is evil lurking in the world. Strange monsters are appearing, and the land is changing. It's up to Link to discover why, defeat the monsters, and stop the evil at its source.

The game world's ever-changing environment looks like a fairy tale come to life. Majestic waterfalls, towering castles, and magical forests are a feast for the eyes and ears. Rivers flow, rain falls, the sun and moon rise and set. There's even an erupting volcano! Exploring this world is half the fun of the game. Along the way, you learn musical tunes that you can play on the flute-like Ocarina, a magical device that helps you teleport, alter the weather, even control time itself.

Character interaction is important to gather clues. The fairy princesses, singing frogs, and dragons you'll meet can be cute, humorous, or somewhat terrifying. Sprinkled liberally throughout the game are hundreds of secret treasures and enjoyable minigames (one of which, the fishing game, would almost be worth buying by itself). Game controls are easy to learn. There's even an elaborate fight training course built right into the game. Controlling the hero quickly becomes instinctive, and you can concentrate on saving the world. To win the game, you'll have to use not only Link's sword, but your mind as well. This game's challenging and inventive puzzles really make you think. In fact, to keep from getting stuck, it's worth spending a few bucks on an official player's guide. With The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nintendo has come up with an all-consuming adventure title that will provide days of engrossing gameplay. --Eric Fredrickson

Pros:

  • Best single-player video game
  • Freedom to explore a rich, complex world
  • Helpful fairy guide gives hints
  • Charming, humorous, lighthearted, yet challenging
Cons:
  • Some puzzles can be frustrating
  • Only one saved game per player--don't save when you're stuck!

I loved it.It just draws you in.There was some parts i got snagged on but it is one of the best puzzle solving games you'll ever buy.I'd give it 5 stars any day.Like finding one of those big chests wondering what will be inside,is it a bomb bag,is it a bow and arrow,is it a sling shot? It's a magnificent game,i'd recomend it for anyone and everyone. So next time your out buying video games and you see it on the shelf BUY IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a revolutionary LoZ game
The most recent LoZ games, in my opinion, have all been fairly average.Wind Waker was the latest actually good LoZ game. But of all the LoZ games, OoT is just plain incredible.

In this game, you play as Link as he grows from a child into a young man while on his quest to defeat Ganon and save the world from ultimate, evil rule.Along the way, you meet many friends and face amazing boss battles.

The graphics (at the time) were just incredible. It really made me enjoy looking at and playing the game.Nintendo really did a great job in this department.

The gameplay is like no other. One of the few incredible games to utilize the C Buttons for vital controls, this game felt really comfortable to play, and there's tons to do in the game besides just beating it.Also, throughout the game, you are forced to travel back and forth through time and play as Young or Adult Link to complete the game, which is awe-inspiring in my opinion.Sadly, after doing little everything, there's no addictive mini-games to really play and not much else to do, but go through the game again and again.

The sound is incredible, and the music has never been better.I found myself turning the volume on the TV all the way up while playing this game, because the sound was that good!

If you're an avid gamer, yet you've never played this game, then something's really wrong with you.Pick this game up and play it 'till your fingers fall off (which I guarantee you'll do). This game is worth buying and owning for as long as you even are alive.

5-0 out of 5 stars An epic classic! Still the greatest game to roam the Earth!!
A long time ago... in the unevolved time of 1985, a video game company emerged on the scene, known as Nintendo... And from a classic platform (genre) named Mario came a new series: The Legend of Zelda....

I love this game so much, I have to play almost all the time. This is THE greatest game to walk the planet. Or roam. Or kill the other video games. Any are true. This classic is the first 3D legend of zelda, and is still an amazing game to date.

Well, if it's such a great game, why's it so good? What makes it good? Here's a fork in the road where opinions split into multiple directions, but personally, I think the freedom of galloping on horseback on a wide, open, orange-green field, courtesy of the setting sun. This is just awesome for me. I never understood the game when I was young, but now I know all the characters, and all the dungeons. Or the whole game. Whatever. Off topic.

Another great thing is the ever-changing environment. In the night, things get noticably unsafer than in the day, just like reality. The gate to the town closes so you have to battle these skull things that rise up out of the ground. The sun sets and rises every few minutes, (which is kinda scary, in 5 minutes it becomes night), and the moon appears when it's nighttime.

Now the BESTEST thing is the interactiveness, and more importantly, the side quests. The Oot is an eploring RPG, so you don't HAVE to do what the plot tells you to do. There are TONS of mini-games to do. One, you can go fishing. Yes, you heard me correctly, F-I-S-H-I-N-G. How cool is that? There's also archery shootouts, on-horseback shootouts, and even a treasure chest game.

There are tons of things you can do in this game. One nice thing is that the game jumps for you, so it's easier to do things. You can swim and ride on a horse. Oh yes, and dive.

The plot is swirling and amazing, truly spectacular. This is THE best storyline I've ever seen in a videogame besides the Windwaker, which is as good, if not better than the Oot, but I'm preferable to the Majora's Mask. I'm not gonna tell you the story, so I don't spoil the excitement of learning what you have to do.

ALL IN ALL, I think the Oot is a must-have game for any N64 or Gamecube owner. It's the revolutionary classic. Once you play the game, that's when you'll realize. If you realize it's the greatest game you've ever played, rock on. If you think it sucks, go to hell.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why can't there be more games like this one!?!
This is the best game I have ever played. It has very good music, grapics, and the story is great!I really love this game, but the only really big problem with this game is that it has this one(long and boring)temple that is very hard, and(please)don't take this game lightly, the bosses are hard, but the story is so good that you will want to play this game again and again! But the other Zelda games are lame!So only (if you want to)buy this game and maybe 'the legend Zelda A link to the past'. PROS:the story is great,It's a fun game, and the great fairys(Fairys that will power you up and give you new weapons) are easy to find.CONS:switching around the camera is a little bit hard, and finding the goldskull tokens(gold coin like tokens that you win from beating spider monsters)is easy at the beginning of the game but hard at the end. This is a great game,so I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy games,I would also recommend'final fantasyI&II dawn of souls'and'The legend of zelda:the wind waker'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Great Great
This game has twice as much action as a normal 64 game, it keeps people coming back for more! Im going to say its is at least the number 2 game ever made by nintendo, if not number 1.Remember to finish this game up before you start on Majora, because they go in sequence. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Yoshi lover!
I am a big fan of Yoshi. I think he is cute(unlike most dinosaurs) and fun to play with. I really did like this game that I thought I didn't waste $20.00 on it. BUT this game could have been better.
The storyline is Baby Bowser has stolen a Super Happy Tree from the Yoshis. Now the Yoshis have to go through an adventure to rescue it. Basically you go through from pg.1-pg.6 (like a storybook) with 1 level each. Guess what, you play 6 levels to beat the game by eating 30 fruits in each level. Isn't that easy. But there are a total of ONLY 24 levels. You find other levels by getting the happy hearts you find in the level you are playing. There are only 5 bosses in the entire game who are kind of easy but baby Bowser can be hard. You can also find in the levels hidden black and white Yoshis that are better than the regular Yoshis. When you want to play a level again you go to the the Trial Mode. Throughout the game you have different items to help you. But Really, they should have put more into this game by adding a lot more levels, more goodies to earn, and maybe some minigames or multiplayer fun. The graphics in this game are not the best but hey its a storybook game so it really doesn't matter. This game is really for starters.
But overall I still had fun with this game. But hardcore gamers who are looking for a more challenging game shouldn't get this. Yoshi lovers may like this game but I don't know what your opinion of it is. Just rent it first!

5-0 out of 5 stars Yoshie'sStory !!!!
In this game you have 7 lifes, and each life is a different color. You go through levels, story pages, and you try and defeat the level. If you use a life then you dont get that life back until the next storypage. Eventually you come to the last level and you have to defeat the master of the game to beat the game. Overall this game is SOOO much fun and you get to really test your skills.

3-0 out of 5 stars Bad for kids
The only Pro of this game is being bad!!!!!!Wait, if it's bad
I should only give this game 2 stars. Oh well...... ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nintendo 64 - Diddy Kong Racing
Like most others who might've already discovered, this Nintendo video game IS pretty much for kids. That doesn't mean that many adults cannot find SOME fun with it.The player(s)have a chance to race on many tracks, like a dinosaur valley,an ice track,a volcano island, etc.Have to admit the graphics are good.At least I thought so.Can also switch over to this game to kill, say maybe thirty minutes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diddy Kong Rocks!
This game is lots of fun after you beat the entire game you get space boards. There are also some fun codes to have lots of fun on Multi player. If you want the code it's freeforall. This game really does stand the test of time. It is like a rookie form of Mariocart, but I think that it's a better game than Mariocart.

4-0 out of 5 stars Diddy Kong Racing
Diddy Kong Racing is the other major kart racer for the Nintendo 64. When it came out, most people were accusing Rare of copying the Mario Kart 64 formula. That may be true, but at least they made modification. For example, there is a major decrease in emphasis on items in Diddy Kong Racing. In Mario Kart 64, you need a good hold on the items to win. In Diddy Kong Racing, items are merely an afterthought. What are really important are the boosters strewn all around the levels. This creates a different racing feel that some people may like more than others. I personally feel that the karts are not as agile as they are in Mario Kart 64, and that decreases my enjoyment of the game. Ah well. The inclusion of two extra vehicle types adds a different feel to the gameplay. I didn't really like the plane, but hovercrafts rule! In a racing game, level design is just as important as the controls. The courses are nice, but a bit lacking in variety. Oh well. It was obviously a way to fit in with the five different sections in the single player mode. Gawd...the single player mode...the Silver Coin Challenges are no fair, I tell you!

As the game is less focused on the items, the battle modes are a bit drawn-out and boring. However, Fire Mountain and Smokey Castle are brilliant. In Fire Mountain, your goal is to take eggs to your nest and make sure they hatch. The game becomes frantic with the addition of the ability to steal your opponents' eggs. In Smokey Castle, you must take 10 bananas (2 at a time) to your respectable treasure chest. It's not as awesome as Fire Mountain, but it's fun just the same. Graphics are actually decent for 1997. It may not be as visually stunning as what Rare would achieve in half a year with Banjo-Kazooie, but the game looks nice nonetheless. Most early Rare games have lousy backgrounds, but DKR's backgrounds are impressive. The music is terribly catchy, and the voice samples are cute. The Silver Coin Challenge is still unfair.

4-0 out of 5 stars A even title that can hold it's own.
Diddy Kong has a better graphics system then Mario Kart and gameplay is faster and less sluggish.Alltogether a good game to own and worth the money if under fifteen bucks.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mario Kart clone... a nintendo fan disspointed...
I was so excited when I first rented this game. I read tons of great reviews and thought boy this game has to be great! I was totally disapointed. It's a mario kart clone but not in a good way like CTR. Diddy Kong Racing got it all wrong. Controlling the vehicles is extremley frustrating, espically the planes. The courses are totally kiddish. I found myself getting motion sickness and boredom from this game. I was wondering what all the hype was about. This game is very dissapointing, honestly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The opinion of a well traveled gamer.
This is my personal favorite when it comes to the Nintendo 64, or the Bomberman series altogether. The multiplayer featured in this game features 3-d movement not restricted by a grid of panels like most Bomberman games, and it proves to be much funner.

Story Mode is mediocre at best UNLESS you're attempting to get all the gold cards and all the customization items. Doing so will expose the player to many head scratching puzzles, this applies to the bosses (!) as well.

Getting all the gold cards unlocks something awesome (find out yourself). Plus beating the game under 3 hours on the various difficulties, with *all the gold cards* unlocks even more stuff. This in-turn gives the game quite a bit of replayability.

The graphics in this game aren't anything special, but they run very smoothly, and compliment the gameplay. The sound in this game is very catchy. Infact, if there was a soundtrack I could buy, I'd have it. ;P

I recommend this game to anyone and everyone. (unless for some reason you have a phobia based around bomberman, then by all means stay away)

5-0 out of 5 stars Better then I thought.
I bought this cheap at a pawn shop.Figured if it wasn't any good then not a big loss. It's one of the best Nintendo 64 games I have though. Well worth the six dollars I paid for it.

4-0 out of 5 stars BOMBERMANS KEPT HIS BLOW FOR TEN YEARS!!!!!!
Yes, its me, bombermans biggest fan again, for more reports on bomberman! This one is not as good as the other ones but it is in three dimensional contact. However, the thing that can drive you to the terrifying demise of a psycopath, is the one hit K.O.'s! I care about bomberman's heath matinence so much that I set this down for awhile! And The Bosses are uncouth and are so tough you may want to hire prophets of doom to march around your house the whole time you play the boss!So this game still is fun but dont exepect as much from it as other bombermans!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun, But Not Perfect
The single player on this game is good. Some of the stages are a little long and eventually get boring, but if you stick with it, you will definately be rewarded. Big, challenging bosses and many secrets keep this game exciting.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, gets boring way too fast and gives you little options on how you want your battle to go. Custom suits found in single player help this a little, but I would still give this mode 4 stars, being generous.

Though I might not have sounded like it, I really liked this game. It was only my second N64 game and I would never sell it.

My main problem with this game is that you cannot jump. I mean, how hard is it to jump, even if you are carrying a few bombs on your back? This can get EXTREMELY FRUSTURATING, though you can jump on bombs, which partailly solves this problem.

Note to owners of this game: Watch the movie in the ending credits for solutions on how to journey to some of the game's secret areas.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bomberman in 3-D for the first time
Bomberman's first 3-D game is focused more on the one-player mode than the multiplayer, which seems odd as the Bomberman games typically have a heavy focus on fast-pased multiplayer deathmatches.

The one-player mode, fortunately, is fun even if it isn't the greatest ever. You can find parts hidden in the levels that allow you to customize your outfit in multiplayer; these serve no other purpose than to allow you to show off your flair for fashion. Also hidden in the one-player mode are special gold cards that can unlock stuff if you get them all.

The multiplayer takes after the normal Bomberman style, but adds free-roaming, multi-tiered stages for you to kill each other in.CPU players can play with you even if you don't have any friends over.

In conclusion, Bomberman 64's first foray into the world of 3-D is a successful one.Chances are that you'll enjoy it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best
The zenith of it's time for "shoot em up" fighter games, Starfox 64 is another "must have" for the person who stubbornly continues to play the N64. All and all, this is probably my favorite game of all time.Tremendous replay value as you try to take different paths to save the Lylat system.Somehow, the gameplay just never gets old.

The musical score is excellent, though not as good as it's SNES predecessor, IMHO.Slippy the frog's voice is eternally annoying, but still the characters grow on you. There's a touch of "Wing Commander's" legacy here, as how well you perform (shooting a certain number of enemies, completing a task) determines your progress.

All and all, an excellent game for everyone, from the hard core gamer to the casual fan. Here's to Starfox, were it that every game was as good as this!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Tetris of Shooters
People played this in the store for days on end even though most could not afford it for the N64. Star Fox was an amazing blast em up for the N64 that was visually stunning to watch.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHO ARE YOU GUYS?!We're Star Fox!
How could you not love this game, the animals talk! There are so many great lines from this game that I don't really care about anythingelse except being able to hear "don't party just yet, time to try our new weapon."I just love this game, it can be as hard as you want it to be so stop saying it's easy.Anyways, this game was put out 8 years ago and still every once and a while I decide to play this and I love it, cuase it has the talking animals on it.I'm going to repeat this TALKING ANIMALS!Slippy gets on my nerves though I just kill him becuase he always gets some guy on his ass and keeps bleating "get this guy off my fox!"I wanna crack his skull everytime he says that it pisses me off. Then theres that stupid chick that knows Falco (the bad ass of course) and she is annoying, I wish I could kill her becuase when you go to the Z zone she steals your kills so you can't get the freaking medal I HATE HER!It is so annoying that she steals your kills!Oh that has to be the worst part of the game, it's woefully madening. Also to not are the apes who try to kill you, though they make the noble animal of the ape villanious they still have memoriable lines like "ANDROSS I'VE FAILED YOU!!!"Then there is team wolf, they are tottaly bad! They are pretty hard to kill on the other side of venom but like I said if you got the skills you may one day beat them (and you say this game is too easy!OH MY GOSH!).Anyways I do like the bunny guy what's his name?I forgot but he's like "Your the best Slippy." and that makes me want to cry becuase they are always so hard on Slippy!I love it that they actually give him love in Aquos cuase I've heard the stories, poor Slippy.Anyways Fox is a stud of course, damn he is looking good!He works hard of course, cuase I'm controlling him.Anyways the best characters are the bosses cuase they say stuff to you that's funny like that one boss "admits defeat" but then comes back after you cuase he was lying, what did you think you'd get off that easy!HECK NO!Anyways I hope you love this game as much as I do, becuase I say those lines everyday before I go to sleep, cause it bring hope.Especially when the Bunny guy affectionatly tells Fox "your becoming more like your father." Fox's father was a pimp too! That's the ultimate compliment in the Lylat system!I'm sure Fox shed a tear when he heard that from his bunny partner.I'm out, only a loser doesn't like this game cuase he is a nerd with no sense of humor who wants to play a "real" flight simulator.YEAH!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Listen to these kids, this game is a classic
There are no words to describe the greatness of Star Fox 64.The fact that people actually took the time out of their day to rent a game that came out almost 8 years ago should render their arguments invalid.

If you're looking for GameCube graphics, you are going to be disappointed. Most people know this, but to those not knowledgeable, the Nintendo 64 is much older than the GameCube. Before there were many games out for Nintendo 64, Starfox 64 was one of THE games--and it still stands as one of the best N64 games in the library.I owned a Super Nintendo four years before I got a Nintendo 64, and I remember the first Christmas morning that I had Star Fox 64, the rumble pak, and the Nintendo 64 (not included in this deal, but only about $5 more on the Star Fox sold elsewhere on this site).I sat in awe of its awesome graphics and gameplay, and it was one of the greatest gaming experiences ever.I don't mean to take a walk down nostalgia lane or anything, but I got more excited from that game than I got from any other game--ever again.

Comparing Star Fox 64's graphics to a Super Nintendo game's graphics is like comparing a 2005 Mercedes Benz to a 1999 Honda Civic.Even my parents were amazed by this game's graphics when I first got it 7 years ago.

On a side note, it is almost sad to see people complaining about this game's difficulty. If you invest just 1 hour a night in SF 64, I guarantee you that you will have beaten it in 2 or 3 weeks--at the most! The fact that people think this game is too hard is a testament to how easy games these days are getting.

Now, onto the game: if you accept the fact that this game was released 7 or 8 years ago, and learn to use your imagination(these "talking animals" are some of the coolest video game characters to date--and that includes Master Chief from Halo!), then you will find a great game with AWESOME replay value.Even after I beat the game regularly, I was able to find a whole new side path which took just as long to beat as the normal path, and was actually more fun than the original path, with the exception of the submarine level. After you earn medals on every level in normal, it moves you on to a harder difficulty, and it's twice as much as fun earning the medals over again, just because the combat is exciting (for 8 years ago, that is--keep in mind that you're playing a classic).

While the posts before have proved that this game is too hard if you're bad at video games AND don't try (even people bad at video games can beat this if they persist--it's really not that hard), and the graphics are outdated, this game belongs in any casual gamer's collection...if not to play it, then to at least pass it on to your kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars wannabe of real flight simulators
This is a game stands up to shaq-fu and superman 64 as the worst game ever created in history. This game is way too childish. The graphics are an insult, you can easily see the polygons, it's too easy, and it has hideous music, sound effects, and the animals(I don't know why) sound retarted. This is just as bad as the original on the SNES. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great game, it's just not for me.
Okay. So back in 1996, the Nintendo already had Super Mario 64. The addition of the critically acclaimed Wave Race 64 made the Nintendo 64 even more promising over the then-somewhat-struggling PlayStation. Although it may be largely forgotten now after the relative failure of Wave Race: Blue Storm, Wave Race 64 opened to critical raves and is still a cornerstone of Nintendo 64 nostalgia for gamers.

But you know what? I think Wave Race 64 isn't really that fun! Is it a good game? Sure, it's a wonderful game when you talk about the technology relative to the time period. I mean, the graphics are phenomenal for 1996. The water is very nice, and so are the effects. The music is great. It has that soft jazz feel that appeals to people that don't work in IGN. The sound effects are pretty good, such as the "blub" sound when you hit a buoy. Heh. Blub. Blub. Blub. The announcer is just as annoying as the guy in Pokemon Stadium, but having that many voice samples in a game is something not even Super Mario 64 achieved. The guy just needs to tone down his enthusiasm. It sounds terribly hokey. And yeah. The game's physics are good, what with the waves and the water and stuff.

But you know? Aesop was right. If you are unable to succeed in something, then you are more likely to pass it off as irrelevant, or not worth it. The same thing applies for video games, and it is something I had discussed in many earlier takes. Games in which an individual sucks at are more likely to be labeled "not fun" by that individual. Well, guess what? I SUCK at Wave Race 64. I have never been able to get used to the wave physics, and I never remember specific controls. I do well enough in Normal mode, but every other mode pwns me. I was never into jet-skiing games anyways, so I am more apt to become discouraged, and I say that the game is not fun. It's a vicious cycle, and apparently the game is the victim. Oh well. I have other things to complain about. I can't do stunts, so I don't like stunt mode. (Gee. What a surprise.) And this game would have been PERFECT if it had 4-player mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic!!!
I remember the first time I saw this game... What a beautiful memory.Even though the Nintendo 64 turned out to kinda bust, it was my transition from 2d to 3d games. My first experiences with 3d were with Mario 64.I first played Nintendo 64 at a friend's house, and Wave Race 64 was one of the first games I played. My jaw was hanging for about a half hour. The first thing I saw was Dolphin Park - swimming dolphins, fish, "splashy" sounding music, backflips, barrel rolls, and BEAUTIFUL water. It was too much! What a surreal experience! After I got back up from fainting, my friend and I played this game for HOURS and HOURS and HOURS and HOURS.We would go to Southern Island and tried to find what we could ramp over, go under, and crash into.It sounds pathetic, but I've had some of the best times of my life playing Wave Race 64 with friends.

I never actually bought the game.I was around 11 or 12 at the time, and $60 was hard to come up with. But boy, we would rent it and made use of the WHOLE 72 hours we had it.I'm 20 years old now, and being frustrated with today's gaming experience, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and finally buy Wave Race 64.I hoped to experience some of the joy I did so many years ago.I found it for $2.75 on ebay. It's still a great game, but it was a little sad to play it again - to see the out-dated graphics and all.I beat all the circuit classes in no time. Also, the guys I used to play it with aren't around anymore.Makes me yearn for the good ol' days. :*(

But I'll quit sobbing. This game is without a doubt a classic. It is one of the best racing games of ALL TIME.DO NOT DISAGREE WITH ME.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game
This is a awsome game that well keep you up all night.I play it 24:7

5-0 out of 5 stars R U FREAKING KIDDING ME???
I can't remember the last time I had so much fun with a game, except for Goldeneye, or Mariokart 64 (Battle Mode ONLY!!!).The guy who said it's all about the stunt mode is dead on.My thumb still has a callous six years later.Glacier, Glacier, Glacier!!!Good luck on figuring out the move that will get you up to the 60,000 point margin.Buy this game NOW!!!

I love F-Zero on the SNES and I was anxiosly trying to get my hands on a copy of this version. And finaly when I did I am very disapointed. the graphics are crap, the 3D polygons have no detail and the background is the same every time. Why can't there be a car that has all A catagorys, even if it's next to impossible to unlock, why couldnt they make the superior machine?

The race hardly goes fast enough. The only 2 tracks I did like where the ones with a tube pipe thing you drive on, like driving the outside of a tube, not the inside. And another track that had quite a few leaps and jumps... but over all, I still would rather be playing the original and best on the SNES. They should have included the SNES version on the 64 cartridge as a side game or something.

Overall:
Graphics: 3/10
Sound: 5/10
Controls: 9/10

This game might be better on multiplayer, but even a tho I have now unlocked every car and track up to the X round. I do have 30 days to return it if I dont want it, and I think I will be returning it. It's a rental game; tho you may not be able to rent them from too many places anymore, it makes me feel better that it will be out of my hair and I wont have it collecting dust rather then be going to someone else who might enjoy it more then I did.

I thought they would have learnt from the SNES version that the game needs a cheat for infinite turbo boosts... that doesnt require a gameshark.

4-0 out of 5 stars thisis the second fastest racing game i ever played
theres a bunch of super fast space planes racing through unbelivable courses at speeds as high as like 800-900 mph!its hard to hang on!there are lots and lots of ships to choose from.there are some really cool side games too.whats that you say?sounds like suicide?well, yes.thats quite true.you will wreck and die a lot.but youve got to learn to make split second deciions.so learn to anticipate!its great fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Faster Blood Falcon. Kill! Kill!
Let me just say this. Out of all racing games I've played for the Nintendo 64, only Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64 are more fun. Okay. With that said, let's explore the various components of gameplay in a random, unorganized order. What I found really compelling is the awe-inspiring cast of characters. 30 racers, each with their own personality and life story, is quite a hefty amount. Another thing this game excelled in was the sense of SPEED! While Star Wars Episode I Racer went just as fast if not faster, that game didn't present you with the sense of speed F-Zero X does! Sometimes it can get overwhelming, and that sends you flying off the track, where (if you're playing multiplayer) allows you play a rather fun slots game in which you can still affect the action on screen. The ability to completely wipe out opposing racers with a slight double press of R or Z really adds great strategy in the single-player mode. And Death Race. Oooh...that is a classic!Tracks are well-designed. Boosts. You won't win without them. They can get quite annoying, since if you miss one, you're pretty much screwed, at least in multiplayer. Single player AI is pretty dumb.

I don't really remember much of the music. Recently, I was able to use VGMusic (great site) to listen to F-Zero X MIDIs, and based on what I heard, it didn't seem very impressive. Perhaps it's because these rock-like guitar riffs don't appeal to me. Give me soft jazz, western, or classic any day! Sound effects stick better in my mind, and they are pretty good. The thing that sticks out the most is probably the wail as you fall...off...the...track...KABOOM! Visually, F-Zero X had been kind of lacking. The textures were bleh, and the backgrounds were just fog or clouds. Even though it's not visually or aurally appealing, F-Zero X is still an extremely fun game to play.

5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best racing game on the N64
I was a fan of F Zero from way back in 1991.It was the fastest racing game yet.So when I heard that there was a sequel coming out I couldnt believe my ears.I was even more ecstatic when I heard that it would run up to 60 frames per second.Thats fast! And it delivered.Yeah the game has some flaws such as the graphics arent the best in the world but come on its F Zero. Its all about speed and fun and with F Zero X thats what you get.In addition to the 4 characters from the original there are 26 additional others such as Super Arrow and Jody Summer. There are 4 courses with 6 tracks each.Did I mention the speed? Its unbelievable and with such a flawless frame rate graphics dont matter. And who cares how the cars look?Whats important is that they all look original.Whereas F Zero GX failed to impress me very much F Zero X is a classic. Its one of the best games on N64.Nuff said

3-0 out of 5 stars An exciting game at first but gets really old after awhile.
F Zero X may be the first F Zero game to be faster than the original but it really lacks the excitement that is present in F Zero,F Zero GX and F Zero Maximum Velocity.Sure it is super fast has tons of tracks and characters but it is extremely bland. Novice and Standard are too easy and I wont even go near Expert because that is too hard. The biggest thing here is the difficulty levels are the huge weakpoint of this game. Sure some of the tracks look gorgeous but it is a game that I play only occasionaly because I like to play every game I own at least once a month. So in conclusion rent this first and if you like it buy it if you dont forget about it. ... Editorial Review

One of the best snowboarding games on any platform, 1080 Snowboarding faithfully recreates the mountain experience with beautiful graphics, realistic character and environment physics, atmospheric sound effects, and addictive gameplay. Players compete on a variety of unique tracks ranging from a half-pipe and long jump--both devoted to trick-happy boarders--to long descents that offer plenty of environmental obstacles, including jumps, deep powder, ice, and thick stands of trees. On several tracks, simply reaching the bottom of the hill is an accomplishment in itself.

Much of the game's appeal lies in the finely tuned player controls. As in real life, learning the basics--turning, jumping, carving--is a snap. Honing one's skills to smoothly land a jump, pull off complex in- air tricks, and negotiate tight turns and steep descents, however, is very challenging. It's this appealing combination of skill learning and track mastering that promises to entice players back to the slopes season after season. Extra kudos to the designers for the beautifully realistic sound effects--scraping along icy sections of the track is, literally, a tooth-grinding experience. --Eric Twelker

Pros:

  • One of the best snowboarding games on any platform
  • Gorgeous graphics and environmental sound effects
  • Realistic character and environment physics
Cons:
  • Game engine slows down in graphic-heavy sections
  • Opening "locked" tracks requires advanced 'boarding skills, patience, and a love for the sport

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Snowboarding Game.
What can I say except for the fact that this is one of the first 3 dimensional snowboarding games to ever come out for the home console. Now, as one of the first genres of its kind to hit the market, you can't expect this game to be perfect, but it is an incredibly fun game. Now, the only lack I have seem to find in this game is the lack of characters. There is only about five of them. The graphics are awesome, considering how old and outdated the n64 graphics are. There are a lot of levels, all of which are pretty long ones too, as well as pretty challenging. There is a huge amount of moves in this game, but sometimes, this can become a little bit tedious. It is actually kind of hard to land big combo tricks, and the controls are frustrating for the moves. In fact, I have had this game for 6 years, and still have yet to pull off the next to impossible 1080. But if you are one of the lucky ones who are fortunate enough to still have a working n64, and don't have this game, than definately add it to your collection of antique n64 games. Not much to say about multiplayer, because it does not really shine in that area. It's just an addition to the things you can do in this game besides beat it. But after you are done beating it, it becomes boring because the only thing you can do after that is try to break your records and race against your friends in vs mode. Overall, I think this is the best snowboarding game to ever come on the market, considering it is also the first. Get this game if you don't have it. It's old, but fun.

-PEACE YO!

5-0 out of 5 stars 1080
Amazing This game rocks! This game allows you to go at (...)-kicking speeds to race other pro snowboarders. With outstanding graphics, this might as well be one of the best N64 games ever!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must-have video game for snowboarding fans!
1080° Snowboarding is a great game. I've never actually snowboarded much myself, but I loved this game! Different locations, boarders, and boards to choose from. It tells you how fast the boarder is, where he or she comes from, and their name. On locations, you can pick begginer, hard, or expert. I suggest startin off on begginer. If your new at this game, (like me) you will fall off your snowboard a lot, and "retire", though you can always start a new game. Practice makes perfect!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best
Great controls, graphics, overall video game experience is second to none.I remember the first time I played this game I was blown away.Go pick this up, and have fun the rest of the afternoon. ... Read more

Do not get this game it sucks.Try San Francisco Rush or California Speed.

2-0 out of 5 stars crusin the world
I did'nt really like this game. Boring! You can use your steering wheel but the peddles did not work on this game!

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S GREAT !!!
It's a really cool game because long and hard to beat even though it is kinda old.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Behind The Checkered Flag
Although there are video games out there that can wow you, and then there are the duds. Not all racing games seem to be the best behind the wheel. In the case of a video game coming based from an arcade version, it really seems to be alright, but looks are always decieving. In the case of Nintendo 64, there are very few racing games that really can make it behind the wheel. This isn't really one of them.

The 1996 Crus'n U.S.A. game for Nintendo 64, seems to be a real miss behind the real wheel. The graphics are very strong, but you are limited down to a certain number of cars to choose from, which is seven, not like the more than dozen that there are in the arcade game. Although the courses seem to be within detail, there are so many flaws, including th frame rate and the style of the game, especially within the tunnels of place like Washington D.C. Nevertheless, the game seem to be a little down and out, but at the time it came out for Nintendo 64, it was one of only two video racing games for the Nintendo 64.

It is kind of dissapointing that they couldn't try to make some better video games with racing at the time, but there are so many better choices to the Nintendo 64. If you're really into the racing feel of the Nintendo 64, I suggest you either get Mario Kart 64, Rush 2, or the sequel to Crus'n U.S.A. : Crus'n World.

4-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME GAME!!
Great game but 'Redwood Forest' is nearly impossible, but after a while it gets easier and you'll beat it after trying it at least twice every time. It also ends too fast, but the sweet cars make up for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BOMBERMAN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#1!!!!!
I am bombermans biggest fan and this is one of his best games! The scenes in between can be dramatically ironic which makes it really addictive! The bosses can be difficult, but most of all bagular is tough! He is an uncouth monster creature that morphs into various forms. It is the cartoonish violence and no gore or newd (or lewd.) parts. My final word: BUY IT or you WILL be persistent to give It a spin in the future! (but by then it might be out of stock!)

5-0 out of 5 stars SuperBomber!!!
Bomberman Hero rocks!!! The game has really good graphics, and has really intense bosses. Also, they added lots of different bombs such as freeze bombs and salt bombs. Also, every time you beat a level, you get to watch a small movie showing what bomberman is doing and where he is. In certain levels, you equip special gear like a jet pack, snowboard, helicopter blades, and a propeller and torpedo shooter. There are lots of new enemies and you can replay any level as much as you want after you have cleared it. The game is awesome and addictive. I would highly reccommend buying this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bomber man is so radical!!!!!!!!
Bomber man Hero is cool. Nitros is pretty easy at first but thenhe goes intense. You should try Bomberman 64 the second attack if you like this game. And remberabout Bomberman 64.

horrribel
i cant evern get it started. It was a total waist of money. do not buy this or at least rent it if you dont beleive me

2-0 out of 5 stars If you want a real game
This game is not realistic. You can break late turn late and still make the turn. this game got a lot of good reviews well here's the truth. If you are a F-1 fan buy EA SPORTS F1 2001.(for computer) IT's the real thing.IT has a lot better auido and viedo. you can really read the sponsers on the cars. It also has a Driving School, test day, quick race, championship, and Grand prix. I've played all kinds of racing games on comp. playstation and N-64 and world grand prix is not good. I thought that I was a good driver and I still haven't mastered F-1 2001 on the 1st difficult level. I drove world grand prix about 5 min. and could almost place in the top 3 in all the races.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's just a game....it's just a game.....
Somehow I had managed to qualify 5th...WHAM! the race is on, I get a great start....I quickly make my way up to 3rd and 2nd place is just ahead of me, the first corner is coming up really quickly, I'm going to brake late and make the pass...I hit the brake and start turning, all four wheels lose traction and I slide off into the sand trap. When I finally get back on the track I'm in 10th place.I finished in 4th.

Wow.You really get into this game.It is without a doubt the best racing game I've ever played. The graphics are great, the physics are reallistic (execpt for crashing, it takes a lot to really mess up your car), and the courses are very challenging (especialy Monaco).

There is a lot of stuff you can do in this game. You can adjust the front and rear wings, the tires, suspension, gearing, stearing, and how much feul you have, and they all greatly affect how the car performs. If you don't know anything about cars you can select a preset for that track, and it will fix everything for you. However, a few tweaks will make you faster.

One very cool option is the 97 EVENTS option, which makes the weather work exactly as it did in the 1997 race season.

If you like games like Crusin' USA, you probably will not like this one. This is not an arcade racer, it is a simulator.

Gamespot.com said that there is a framerate slow down problem occasionly, but I haven't noticed it.

Once you buy the game, don't forget: It's just a game.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is so fun!
When I first got this game I didn't know what to expect but once I got the hang of the controls I loved it. Racing in a full grand prix is not for the impatient, it's long and you have got to have the patience to sit there and go around the track a lot. When I first got this game I didn't know what to expect but once I got the hang of the controls I loved it. Racing in a full grand prix is not for the faint of heart, it's long and you have got to have the patience to sit there and go around the track a lot. If your looking for fast paced action I don't really think you'll find it, but if you want a racing game that's just like the real thing go for it! I promise you will not be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars Aweome game
I thought this game had terrific graphics for the date it was released. It also is one of he few games that has full length races in the game. I am a NASCAR and F-1 fan and I recommend this to all race fans- this is excellent work. Also the high-speed thrill of the car keeps you looking at your TV screen for hours making turn-by-turn on some of the world's toughest tracks. Please buy this great game. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Play Revenge instead
I am not giving this a very fair reveiw, I didnt play the gamne much because I played Revenge before this one and this one just seemed much slower and no where near as good... if thats a crime, sue me.... but I recomend Revenge over this game for WCW.... but as for wrestling games, I recomend NO MERCY over everything.

3-0 out of 5 stars WCW/nWo WORLD TOUR: IT COULD BE BETTER
The first thing that sucks is the beginning video for the game, it's boring and has no piont.Second is the graphics and the fact that there is NO CREATE MODE. The last thing is that there are bunch of wrestlers I've never heard of.It may seem like I don't like the game at all, but IT COULD BE BETTER

4-0 out of 5 stars wcwvsnwo worldtour is awsome but revenge is way better
this game is one of the best wcw games out there and mayhem, revenge,vs the world, and backstage assualt.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good old school fun
I popped this in a few days ago, being home sick.I'd forgotten how much fun it is.Basically, it's the Great-grand-daddy to WWF:No Mercy. There aren't as many moves as the games that came after it, and the look isn't as crisp. The fun comes in using the wrestlers from the DOA and IU Leagues. Most of these guys are un-named rip-offs of Japanese stars like Hayabusa, the late Gary Albright, and The Great Sasuke.

The biggest gripe I have with this game is the wrestlers chosen for a couple of the "hidden wrestler"/title matches. You have to face Wrath for the DOA Cruiserweight title, and we all know Wrath was no cruiserweight.Same thing with DDP for the WCW cruiserweight belt/trophy.But if you want to trace the evolution of THQ's advancement of Video Game Wrestling, this is the one to start with.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER! PERIOD.
This game is great! It is a true classic and should be in every N64 owner's library. It may not be as good graphic wise as the others in the series, but this one is the best. It's the only game of the bunch (Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, & No Mercy) to include fantasy wrestlers that are based on real wrestlers. It's got Atsushi Onita, Mike Awesome (The Gladiator), The Great Sasuke, Tarzan Goto, Taka Michinoku, Hayabusa, Jinsei Shinzaki, as well as many others. You can tell who these wrestlers are because the fantasy charecters have the signature moves and gear.Pretty cool! This game also contains Ric Flair, as well as almost all the notable WCW/nWo grapplers of the time. All of the wrestlers have cool moves, something that I thought was lacking in Wrestlemania 2000.This game is a blast, playing it by yourself or with up to 4 friends. It may not contain the better graphics, create wrestler, or quite the number of moves of the later releases: but the fun factor more than makes up for it....Once you get the hang of the controls, they are simply astounding. This game has some of the best play control I have EVER experienced.Your charecter will do exactly what you tell them to do.I have never encountered any control hiccups, ever.To top it off, I've easily played this game for over 100 hours.Once you get the basic knowledge of the contols, it's all about timing from there.Once you get the timing down, you'll be unstopable.Unless, of course, you're playing someone like me.The dude also complains about the CPU blocking and dodging too much. The computer does this when you're really wailing on them, or if the difficuly is on hard.Block and dodge are the main counter buttons.Another great aspect of this game, the countering system. All in all this is one the BEST games of all time (in my opinion of course), and a definite MUST BUY! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Golf Rules
I have wasted countless times on the couch playing this game with 3 of my friends and every time it is worth it.Dont expect this game to be easy at first, in fact, for being a relatively simple game, it is quite challenging. There are 4 different play modes, tournament, skins game, country club and practice modes that you can hone your skills on.You can have different types of weather, wind, rain, and if you find the sand or a tree, you can expect to lose at least a stroke. You can also create your own characters and choose what types of clubs are in your bag.Definitely worth it if you are looking for a golf game to play.better than mario golf anyday.

5-0 out of 5 stars Waialae Country Club
It's one of the only games in 64.Being a 4 player game we get to play with all our friends and they think it is great, too. The graphics are good.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love Waialae
I think that this game is awesome for anybody, it is pretty hard to get use to but it is awesome when you are good at it, which will not take long. There is good competetition in the computer and it keeps a handicap for it. If you are thinking about getting it do it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great and fun golf game!
Wailae golf for N64 is the only golf game on N64 and I think it is great! The graphics are ok, but once you get beyond that you will see that it is very fun.If you have friends then have them play with you becausemultiplaying on this game is the best!If your a golf fan, get this gameor do what I will do and wait for mario golf.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am a golf fanatic and I love Waialae Country Club.
I am going to keep this short and sweet but I just want to let all of you golf fans out there who own a N64 that Waialae Golf is the game for you. 2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money
Please, don't waste your money on this game, it is simply not worth it. Number one, the graphics are some of the worst I have ever seen and the overall entertainment value is oddly poor.
Graphics: 63.9% (D-)
Entertainment Value: 70.1% (C-)
Overall: 66.2% (D)

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as some
This games graphics stink,
but thegame is pretty fun

5-0 out of 5 stars THis game is one of the best.
This is one of the best sports games on N64. I'll just describe this game on its aspects. The Graphics looked somewhat grainly and the characters faces don't really correspond to the ones in reality. Doesn't have much sound, but good enough. The Presentation is about average due to the ballplayers odd looking appearance. Overall, the game itself makes the save. The game is so good that you will forget about it's graphics and sound. The cool part is that you can custom create Michael Jordan and he truly the air up there.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a good game, but a couple of drawbacks
This game is very cool.I got it like when it came out in 98.Graphics are ok, the fade-aways are just fine, the jogging and walking is very cool, also how easy it is to trade, sign, and release players. How you can use more than 1 team to play w/ in the season. Now the drawbacks, it really... when you see Mugsy Bogues grabbing rebound, and dunking over Patrick Ewing?!?Kind of ridiculous huh? Also foul shots are so very hard to learn.I played a 52 game season and was waiting so anxious to see what would happen when I won the champion ship, it was like watching ants crawl back to their nest after eating. They walked off the court like nothing at all happened. But I still play the game b/c it's fun to me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
I got this game two weeks after it came out. At first i was nostalgiac of the first game, i liked the first game more. But after I got over that, i noticed how fun this game was compared to the first game. Each level was harder and more complex than the first. And even though there are only 8 levels, compared to the 10 in the first, it took me longer to beat this one. The graphics, i have to admit, were very impressive for a sixty-four bit console. The game itself was very hard and challenging, but in a good way. This was the right way to make a sequal.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feels different from Banjo-Kazooie
Even though this is the direct sequel to the Rare 1998 classic Banjo-Kazooie, and features much of the same gameplay and similar characters, I think that it just feels like a different game. It seems almost as different from Banjo-Kazooie as Donkey Kong 64 or Conker's Bad Fur Day does. The game just emanates a completely different atmosphere. I guess it's a combination of very different music, different moves, and new characters. Kudos to Rareware on that. People usually like a game that play the same as another game but feels different. I mean, it's a different game, isn't it? Who likes a game that plays AND feels the same?

Ah well. Banjo and Kazooie's final N64 adventure takes them to the world beyond the valley in which they live in. It's a large world, larger than the cavern that Gruntilda calls her lair. The levels really aren't that much larger than the mammoth world featured in Banjo-Kazooie or even Donkey Kong 64, but it's amazing how Rare has fresh ideas even after creating over a dozen massive levels for the two aforementioned games. Ah well. The difficulty level of Banjo-Tooie seems to be tougher. It's sometimes harder to figure out what the heck to do for certain Jiggies, and there are so much more stuff to find this time around. Not only are there jiggies, but there are also: Jinjos, Cheato pages, honeycombs, and everybody's favorite notes! The massive amount of extra moves can also get overwhelming. Boss fights, which were MIA in Banjo-Kazooie are now here, and in every stage. The extra modes of play are a nice change to the typical Banjo-Kazooie formula. I haven't had a chance to play as Kazooie without Banjo, but I did get to control Mumbo. It wasn't really as I had expected, but fun nonetheless. The 1st-person shooter mode was obviously a chance to cash in on the successes of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, but they were actually well done. The 1st-person shooter level in Mayahem Temple freaked me out, but hey. It's all about atmosphere.

Rare has always been good at having distinct "tastes" to their games. I suppose what helps them are their awesome musical staff. Although the music in Blast Corps got on the nerves of some people, it definitely added to the feel for it. The somewhat-like-variations of the Bond theme in GoldenEye gave that game a unique feel. So on and so forth. Banjo-Tooie had good music that adds to its different mood, but it just didn't feel as excellent as Rare's fantastic score for Banjo-Kazooie. Maybe that's a good thing. Having the Gobi's Desert tune stuck in your head for hours is not exactly a pleasant experience. As far as sound effects go, Banjo's deep utterance for every jump is JUST NOT RIGHT! Argh! I can't stand it. Oh well. It's a good game nonetheless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Banjo-Tooie: Best+Most Fun Game Ever!!
They started out in Banjo-Kazooie as "not well-known and REALLY strange main charaters", but in Banjo-Tooie, that bear and bird duo really caught on as enjoyable and fun guys to have in a video-game.
Banjo, the "slightly out of it" honey bear and Kazooie, the cheeky breegull started out in their previous game having Grunty, the evil witch, as their enemy because she wants to steal Tooty, Banjo's sister, in order to get her beauty. But in Banjo-Tooie, she doesn't really want to steal anyone's beauty, she is MAD and WANTS revenge!!! Chasing through Grunty's lair learning "novice moves" from Bottles, the mole, was simply a "kindergarden" learning experience compared to the "high school" more "advanced moves" from Bottles' brother JamJars.
In Banjo-Kazooie, the good shaman Mumbo-Jumbo, assisted the bear and bird by turning them into an alligator, a pumpkin, etc., ect. But now, Humba-Wumba steps in to take his place. Mumbo still helps you in B.T., only this time, YOU control him! Navigate Mumbo around looking for things to do and your also able to almost "evaporate" enemys with your Mumbo-staff!
Earlier in this review I mentioned Bottles' brother JamJars. Drill-Sargent JamJars teaches the Banjo-Kazooie team different moves and abilities to help you defeat bosses, harmful lava, quick-sand, toxic waste, and anything else that might kill you. You also learn how to use special pads that let Banjo and Kazooie split up!
With it's great grafix, great charater cast, long game-play time and plot [it took me about two or three days worth of gameplay to win], improved plot worlds and sub-worlds, better theme music [not that B.K.'s music was bad], I rate it "THE BEST GAME EVER MADE FOR THE N64 AND BEST GAME OF ALL [the second best game is and was B.K.]." I give Banjo-Tooie 5 GOLD STARS!!! :D Great job, Rare* and Nintendo*

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the original
I recall the first one being my favorite game in second grade. It was fun, and I was a fan of the voices, noises and levels of the game. I also recall asking my teacher if a play we would see was Banjo-kazooie! The sequal had all of the great features of the first one, with improved sound graophicas, and a new awesome storyline.

Graphics-the levels, characters and textures are no doubt the best i have ever seen, they were nice, and the characters are cooler looking. A few minor graphic changes are the honeycombs are no longer shiny, and the witch is better modled(she is more uglier!)

Sound:The sound is exellent, way better than Mario.I love the voices of the characters, as it's like their won language of grunts, clanking, and innovation. the gameplay sounds are good for any platformer. The music is a strong point. The best sountracks i liked are witchy world and hailfire peaks. Why? WithcyWorld was cool and cathcy and better than stupid glitter gulch mine, and hailfirepeaks is catchy, it's a good rap beat, and beats that stupid music if the glittering mine! rare is a genius at that, from the graet music from conker's bad fur day, and diddy kong racing. It is also cool how they can have a base song, and change it around and making it sound good. Just like the Simpsons theme. It's was made into a lively, awesome jazz version on hit and run, level three, using lisa

Gameplay-In addition to all the wacky abitities from the previous games, there is a whole lot more items. There are four more types of eggs, more shoes, and wacky transformation. In addition, there are bosses, music, new playable characters, and a replay mode. in anutshell, all of the first goodness with alot more flavor.

Replay-all the games that you played on your adventure is here on the replay mode. The bosses, the movies, and of course, the minigames.in short a game that is strongly into gaming.(What?)

Buy it, and you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more
