My only complaints are (1) that the Disney character voices are not done by the original voice actors. Some of them are not even close.(2) The 2-player mode gets old really quick as you are just trying to beat each other's score, even with three games. It would have been nice to compete or team up for the games regular goals.
As a parent of two, and gamer myself, we all had fun playing the game. It takes a little practice to get used to the controls but exploring the enviroments (jungle, savana,Andy's room, etc) was fun. As other reviewers note, the game does take some planning ahead (ie. setting up for a grind or something to pull off trick, or getting to where you need to go). The game has little mini missions that allow you to unlock levels and skaters. I recommend the game for the ages listed above. You may want to rent first before a purchase just to make sure it has lasting play potential with your kids. Skate on!

Amazon.com Review Such a quest should be easy for an adventurer like Indy, and with game controls that are as well laid out as these, it is easy. Indy can run, jump, shimmy up ropes, swing with his whip, and duke it out with nasty villains. True to the movies, Indy also has to navigate an almost constant stream of deathtraps. Caves full of traps, ruins full of traps, medieval castles filled with traps, and guess what you find in China, yes, more traps. It gets repetitive, but the game has some clever tricks in its floppy hat. For example, skulls make noise, so Indy can toss a few and watch crocodiles target them instead of him. Indy can execute quick punch combinations to knock his foes out, or he can pick up weapons such as a chair, plank of wood, machete, or firearm. His famous whip can be used to disarm foes. The only problem is the camera, which is difficult to keep in the right position--you have complete control of it, but it's hard to manage a camera while you're fighting a martial arts expert, a Nazi with a gun, or a poacher keen on decapitating Indy. The graphics are good, pleasantly reminding you of some of the movies' more memorable locales. The in-game Indy mug looks like Harrison Ford down to the chin scar. Other nice touches include how Indy has to actually pick up his hat if it falls off during a fight, and the little '30s plane flying over the aged and weathered world map. The music is pure John Williams, and the voice work is handled by convincing imitators. The guy they got for Indy, in particular, sounds a lot like Ford himself. Sadly no other movie characters of note appear in the game. (I was looking for John Rhys-Davies at least, because he seems to be in every video game that comes out.) Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb does right by its license and provides hours of entertainment for anyone who's ever wanted to relive the movies starring the most exciting adventurer alive. Lara Croft, eat your heart out because if gaming adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones. --Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (37)

With a lot of effort and determination, your child just might learn what it takes to be the most vicious fighter of them all.Whether it's a kick to the stomach, a good ol' fashioned body slam or repeated blows to the head, this game has it all for you.Don't worry if your kid doesn't enjoy fighting that much. The taste can slowly be acquired if enough hours of gameplay are put into it.Perhaps those children who can't stomach mindless violence might at least get a kick out of watching their player roll around on the ground with another man while wearing the skimpiest of shorts. Overall, I would highly recommend this gaming title for everyone in your family. As you may have noted, this title is NOT rated M for Mature. It is simply rated T for Teen because beating someone into unconsciousness is something that doesn't deserve to be appreciated only by adults. Our teens deserve to experience that kind of joy as well.

I won't bother to go through a diatribe. Simply search for "red faction ii review" in google.com to get as many as you like. Let's just hit the high (or as it may be, LOW) points of this game: 1) No thought required - just shoot. No puzzles, no intrigue, no story to speak of. Just kill, kill, kill. Yawn. 2) Short - very short. I paid money for this? 3) No saving your game. The game only saves at the "transistion" point between levels. If you're in a tough spot and die, you're going to have to go through the entire level again to get to that spot - at which point if you die again, you have go through the entire level again...repeat ad nauseum. Who thought this was a good idea? Having to repeat long stretches of "easy" parts to get back to where you died...but I said no diatribe, didn't I? 4) No real thought required...but I said that already didn't I? It bears repeating. 5) No saving your game - yes, I know I just said that too, but it REALLY IS ANNOYING. I think this just sucks all the joy (what there was, anyway) right out of the game. 6) THQ, the publishers of this disappointing sequel have no support section for this game on their site! Their website simply says "We have not yet posted any Knowledge Base articles for this product."What, they thought no one would have questions? Or maybe they figured there was no point, since no one was going to buy the game after the reviews came out. You can contact their support section through email, though. Presumeably they will answer. 7) Volition, the developers of this game, have no support and no way to contact them that I could find. That's your first clue to the quality of the product, folks. Their website just loops you back into the redfaction2.com site, which has no useful information on it - just a sales pitch. BTW - Volition is a wholly owned subsidiary of THQ, Inc. Hmmm - like father, like son. One gets the impression that this was a rush job to take advantage of the fond memory that we all had of the original Red Faction. In conclusion, pass on this one. Maybe if enough people DON'T buy this, the next game will be better. I'm pretty sure that enough people have already complained about it. I really wish I'd read the reviews before I bought this turkey - it would have saved me some bucks, and a lot of dissapointment.

The graphics are gorgeuos, and gameplay is a lot of fun. I could not put my controller down! Its one of those games that makes you think the entire way, solving puzzles, how to beat the boss monsters. The puzzles are not too hard, not too easy....just hard enough to make it fun. I only needed internet help for 2 puzzles. Played at least 30-40 hours in the end. A must have. ... Read more | |

First, this game is unbelievably repetative. All you do is smash through everything like some mindless creature. There is no style to the way you fight. It's just a bunch of punches, thunderclaps, and ground smashes. This game is in terrible need of a true fighting style. Second, the Grey Hulk is not different enough from the green Hulk, so what's the point? All he does it talk crap constantly. In any case, if you just want a game full of mindless violence, then you will definitely enjoy this.

Amazon.com Review Although the main missions can be completed in an afternoon, it cantake weeks to earn the bronze, silver, and gold medals that unlock thegame's bonuses. These include extra missions, a few two-player modes, and the ability to choose any ship for each mission (including DarthMaul's incredibly powerful Infiltrator). Most of the missions are intense, involving efforts like racing throughan enemy-infested canyon or defending a base against a ceaselessprocession of droid air and ground forces. The game engine can throw anoverwhelming number of 3-D objects on the screen at once--such as amission where more than 50 hostile fighters swarm nearly a dozen largecapital ships. The beauty of these large battles is mesmerizing, withlasers crisscrossing, massive explosions thundering all around, andconstant radio chatter alerting players to new threats. The controls for the various fighters and bombers are extremely basic, and combat is straightforward, but there is always so much going on atonce that the game mechanics almost need to be simple. The only realdrawbacks to the game are a few bugs that occasionally crop up andprevent us from completing missions, and the fact that planetarymissions have a low "ceiling" that prevents us from climbing very high.Even with these faults, the game exceeded our expectations, and noarcade, action, or Star Wars fan with a PlayStation2 will wantto miss it. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Cons: Reviews (97)
One thing is for sure, this game grew on me. I wasn't a fan of it in November of 2001, but I sure am now. Probably most comparable to STAR WARS: X-WING VS. TIE FIGHTER for the PC (which I love), this game features you piloting one of three characters on a variety of different missions on a variety of different worlds. In game graphics are really good. Ships look very detailed and accurate to the specifications that the movies set forth. Controls are perfect - I've got no complaints. While missions rarely are ever anything more than "Shoot a bunch of stationary objects while avoiding fire from various fighters", they always manage to be fun. They do, however, also manage to be frustrating at times. For one thing, you seem to be the only competent member of your squadron in the air at any given time. If you don't complete mission objectives, they won't get done. Asking for covering fire from teammates will help you very little, if at all. And despite always hearing your teammates cries for help, enemies tend to single you out pretty consistently and you are frequently bombarded by a large amount of laser fire, missiles, etc. This alone definitely hurts the final score. Another thing that hurts the score is the length. While the game consists of fifteen missions, very few will take you more than one try to complete. The story takes place around the events of STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE, and while it is better than the movie, it isn't anything to write home about. The introduction of the character works well enough (Character A's story will overlap with and serve as Character B's, effectively introducing the latter character), once it expands beyond that it tends to fall flat. Events come off as unmotivated, and above all confusing. The presentation here is very high. From detailed level locations to John Williams' classic score, nothing here fails to impress. All in all, I do believe that I should have given this game more of a chance two years ago. It was fun while it lasted (which wasn't very long), and it definitely made me want to go out and pick up STAR WARS: JEDI STARFIGHTER, which is something that I was totally against a few days prior to playing this game again.

Amazon.com Review The controls are good, but take some getting used to if you've spent a lot oftime with other basketball simulations. Players use the C stick on thecontroller to pass the ball. No button pressing is necessary; just point thestick at the desired player and the ball is away. Unfortunately, this samesystem is used to select defensive players, and that can be difficult, especially if the action is moving fast and furious. The game does feature quitea few game modes: practice, exhibition, season, and even an interesting modethat takes place on top of the roof. As you might expect, the player models are smooth, crisp, and photorealistic. The animations are detailed with nary a slowdown or glitch. Even the crowd looksgood, and benched players are likewise in full 3-D. The audio isn't soimpressive, however. Never have I heard such uninspired and slow commentary--itoften seems to be describing plays from another game, or worse, talks aboutplays that happened 30 seconds prior to the current action. Not a game breaker, but definitely not as good as the competition. NBA Courtside 2002, aside from the minor flaws described above, is stilla stellar entry in the basketball fold and an asset for the Nintendo GameCubelibrary. It's worth the purchase now, and with a few fixes, it'll be a realcontender next year. --Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (60)
The players and their likenesses are in the game, but in terms of skill and everything else, it's just not there.Players' real-life talents and abilities are not relfected in the game, with the exception of Shaq being a poor free-thrower. The graphics are also very generic. The crowd looks very bad.The two announcers are those who call Clippers games, and are decent, but their limited phrases get old really fast. One of the minor redeeming qualities of the game is that you can create your own player. This feature is great in that you can customize a large list of physical characteristics about the player.Of course, when it comes to basketball skills, the attributes aren't specific enough to make a noticable impact on game-play. So if you're looking for a very simple, unrealistic but easy-to-play basketball game without much customization, this one's for you!If you'd actually like skill to be involved in the outcome of a game, look elsewhere.
Pros: Cons: overall the game is real bad
DON"T BUY NBA COURTSIDE 2002!YOU WILL HATE IT!

Editorial Review This title has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. Unlike some action games, in Spyro the Dragon the enemies are more fun than frightening. In the Peace Keepers world, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon. Spyro's movements (fire breathing, gliding, jumping, and climbing) require entry-level gaming skills. For this reason, Spyro the Dragon is an excellent title for youngsters or less experienced players, who want to play without having to master complex movement combinations. --Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (128)

I'm not going to criticize what RCR is as a game. But here's what I think you should be aware of before purchasing the GBA version. - Poor menus. The game immediately begins with two choices, "Story" and "Manage Data."The Manage Data option doesn't even allow you to load a game...you first need to begin a new game and then load.I'd think this could have been improved. - Screen errors. The game plays in sort of a letterbox mode, but your computer partner and opponents are able to appear below this black bar, and run around offscreen.I believe I remember this bug from the original, but it shouldn't have made it into this updated version. - Dual-button jump. The GBA has 4 buttons A,B,L,R like the SNES...so I can't understand why I still need to push AB at the same time to jump.L and R aren't even used during actual gameplay. The GBA form makes dual-button moves trickier than a NES controller, and I wish Atlus would have considered that. I do enjoy River City Ransom as a game, but the presentation and delivery makes me reconsider this purchase. It's sad to see developers offering no effort in the delivery of a title like this, instead choosing to sell the name and hope to cash in with fans.
