5-0 out of 5 stars Creeper/ Reaffirms my love for video games
Before I got this game I was racing RallisportS 2 and Project Gotham 2.So I rented this game having heard it was great and I popped it in and I wanted to go get my 7$ back from the video store. But I was stuck with it so I figured I'd see what it is all about.

All of sudden when I started winning a couple races and getting a little acclamated to great vast world this games offers, I was hooked.Hooked real hard.3 days later I played for abot 18 hours straight.

A few things I love about this game

    1. Stunningly beautiful. While driving I just reaffirm to myself how beautiful this game is visually
    2. Realistic Car Damage. If you ram into another car to try to knock it off the road so you can pass it, you end up messing your car up so bad that you'll get passed and lose.
3.If you screw up on a turn, you're going to wreck.None of this pull the E-brake junk on this game, you're going into a wall or spinning off into a feild.

Just some things I was thinking about. If you haven't tried this game, do so immediately, and make sure you play it for about 2 hours. That's when I couldn't put it down. It's kind of intimidating at first, but that passes very quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks !!!
Forza motorsport is the best racing game i have ever played. It blows away GT4 by far. The damage is very realistic unlike another certain racing game (lol).and the cars are just as cool. I definetly recomend this game for all you XBOX users. It will not disapoint. In conclusion if you have an XBOX get this one it rules.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Racing Game
I recently got myself an XBox and was advised to rent and try before I buy. Blockbuster was out of Halo2 so I got this one home to try it out (I am a big fan of racing).

Before I say anything further I'd have to mention that this is my very first game on XBox so I cannot compare it to any other games.

Was I glad I rented it? Yes, Will I buy it? Yes.

It's a little pricey at $40+ when compared to other games but then again it has a great game in it.

As for the game itself it has a whole bunch of race tracks and customizable cars (categorized into Classes from R to D) with time trials, free runs and ofcourse the race arcades themselves.

I'd suggest spending $7 and renting it before paying $40+ for your own copy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Same fast paced fun, same silly flaws
I loved the first NFS Underground because it was both more accessible than Gran Turismo (a fine game, but too frustrating and bland) and also that it conveyed the sense of speed better.Well, if you liked the first one, chances are you'll like the second. They improved on the first by streamlining the pre-race part of the game.Long gone are the endless menus that you had to wade through to get to a race, now you are in a free-roaming city with a PDA and GPS to guide you to your next race or the various performance or body shops around the city. The graphics are well done, there are tons of licensed upgrades for you to play with, and you can even customize the color of your brake calipers!Another welcome change is that you can now have more than one car. That's right, you don't have to be stuck with one car, pimp it out, only to have to get rid of it as you move up in class. You only have 5 spots in your garage, and they open up depending on your endorsement deals, so it's still a bit restricted.

On to the flaws of this game, which are basically carry-overs from the first Need for Speed Underground:
1.Locked Upgrades.Yep, they're back! For some mysterious reason, you can only install certain performance/visual upgrades at the start, and must progressively unlock them as you play the game. While I understand this as a gameplay decision, it is super-frustrating to have to wait to be able to buy better tires when you're flush with cash. The upgrades also feel... like they don't do much, which leads me to my next point:
2.Adaptive A.I.The other racers in this game never get too far ahead or let you get too far back. This is great at first because it is forgiving, but gets very frustrating because ultimately it doesn't reward good driving. You can drive flawlessly for 95% of the race, yet in the last half-mile or so, the guy behind you WILL come roaring back and more likely than not, take the lead from you.The rate of speed is absolutely ludicrous, the AI will make up a half mile of lost ground in mere seconds, which is really cheesy.
3.Unrealistic to a flaw.I LOVE the lack of realism in this game, because it is more fun than Gran Turismo or other "sim" racers. However, NFSU2 takes it a bit too far.You can drive a car into the wall, spin them out, only to have them pass you 10 seconds later. The AI drivers seem to have limitless nitrous boost, and can generally out-accelerate you regardless of your ride.
4.Upgrades have no impact. That is because the upgrades aren't a strategic choice on your part, but a requirement to go on.That's right, they are locked, then they are available and you can't really progress until you equip them. There is some noticeable difference (especially from stock to level 1 engine tweaks), but your opponents adapt as well, so it's not like you can bring a souped-up racer to a stock Honda Civic race.It makes for even competition, but again, doesn't reward shrewd racing or upgradeability.
5.It ALWAYS starts to rain at the end of the race. The rain effects are gorgeous, but it is so incredibly cheesy and predictable that it drives me nuts.About a half-mile before the finish, you'll hear thunder, the road will get slick, and lo and behold! You will spin out of control just in time for the CPU driver to pass you!

Overall this is still a fun game.I just wish that it were more rewarding and less arcadey in the aspects listed above. That said, it's a blast to create your ride from stock to pimpin', and the option to design the magazine and DVD covers yourself is fun as well.Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of detail!
this games is a great game if you like to customize you car and every detail of it. I found no cons in the games.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Travesty of a Title
This game is quite a travesty. Thank goodness I purchased it used from a third party dealer on Amazon. I will be selling it at my local Gamestop tomorrow for hopefully an small loss.
I can't comprehend the hype over this game. Perhaps, the positive evaluations are emanating from folks who haven't played other quality race titles or any good game before for that matter.
There is no improvement in this title over the first one. In fact, I popped in the old one just to ensure I wasn't delusional. It turns out I wasn't. NFS 1's graphics are almost identical and I believe the gameplay may be better in the first game. It certainly had more redeeming qualities, easier functionality, and was actually fun (but nothing serious like PGR2).
Driving all over town to find "the next race" may be one of the most annoying tasks I ever had the displeasure to endure in any video game. I had enough of those kinds of non-sensical chores in "Grand Theft Auto"; It justs takes away from a game that already doesn't have much to offer as a baseline.
Even the cut-scenes are total crap. They are are actually non-animated comic book like graphics. This is completely unacceptable in 2004-2005 on the XBOX when animations from Halo 1 & 2 and Ninja Gaiden are far superior.
From a racing perspective Project Gotham 2 totally steps all over this game in every single aspect (See my review of that).
EA racing games pretty much blow.In the past, I rented Burnout 3, another EA game, and whoa, what another incredibly overrated waste of time and energy. I will never again invest time nor money in an EA title. They have proven recently that they are incapable of putting out a quality game for XBOX.

3-0 out of 5 stars No replayability no fun when u complete boooring
    Need for Speed+Underground+2=????
i'm sorry EA this is going to be a bad review for ur game :(
Wow... the visuals, the performance upgrades, the cars.
    It sounds great.
It sounded great when I bought it for ( oh i cant say what i bought it for)
It now sounds like a form of torture.
Now ive finished the game ive realized that the only good part of it is the soundtrack...and the idea
At first ithought that this game was soooo coool!!
Then I got to the last two levels...
It gets repetative!!! Really repetative!!! So repeatative its like chinese water torture. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor. In career mode you win about 20 races then you sign a new sponsor.
AND YOU DO THAT FOR ABOUT EVER
Then they seem to make you stop unlocking parts cars and visuals and the races become pointless...
all there is to do now is play free mode.
On the back of the case it says race or roam on 125 miles of open road.... HA
    this is so UNtrue
yes the city is huuuge.. but it has about 5 other streetracing cars driving around and 30normal people cars...that come in 5diffrent varieties(hatchback, van, pickup, suv, and taxi)this may sound good.. but if you think about it , on 125 miles of road you encounter 3 cars every 5 minuites
the motorways(or for USA rreaderes highway or freeway)are absolutley emptty!!!(apart from one or two cars)
races are good. but you repeat the same one over and over again

the cars are amazing and the modding(or to the not knows CUSTOMIZING or CHANGING YOUR CARS STYLE AND APPEARANCE)is fantasatic with endlesss... etc...BUT no damage detail...
you see me going down the motaorway at 200 mph suddnley i crash into one of the few cars. it goes into slow motion for a second and then well...you emerge with no damage at all ( no wonder they had to put a saftey warning at the beggining...no wonder i always see people flying past my bedroom window at 200 mph and then killing themselves by crasing into so guys ride...expecting to emerge absolutley fine lol lol )

i reccomend not buying this but buying the first midtown madness.at least in that there is more traffic...which means more fun and crashes!"!!(with damage detail)
(just kifdding [lol] buy the game butdont expect much of it i also reccomend buying the first midtown madness.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Need for Speed Underground 2
Need for Speed Underground 2 will challenge gamers to immerse themselves in the tuner culture, exploring an expansive, free-roaming city divided into five distinct neighborhoods. Gamers will encounter rival racers who will initiate events, tip players off to the hottest racing spots, and show them where to buy the most sought-after licensed aftermarket upgrades. The game will feature new game modes, deep new performance customization and tuning, and more than 30 licensed cars. The game also delivers twice the visual customization upgrades as the original game, providing a staggering 70 billion possible car combinations for total automotive self-expression.

While NFSU2 contains some aspects of its predecessor, several major changes make a significantly different game. The world is massive and open, filled with many more courses that before. The progression scheme is complex and you'll find yourself winning to earn money so you can spend it on modding the heck out of your car over and over again. The cars are more weighty and a little more realistic too, requiring a little more skill from the driver.

The sad part is that the huge city is actually perhaps too huge for its own good. You'll grow bored driving around the mostly empty streets, and once you collect the small quantity of Info letters, find the few shortcuts, and open up the garages, there's not much left. The Outrun races ARE fun, but some of them can last up to 15 minutes, and if you want to progress, you're simply going to have to wait.

In all, NFSU2 is an impressive, and more importantly, fun game that overcomes its faults with depth, breadth, and variety.

4-0 out of 5 stars Humiliation was never so much fun!
Got the game, connected the microphone, and was having a blast in less than 3 minutes. You pick a complex or simple song, choose plain karaoke, or get graded by the crowd or your friends.Connect to Xbox Live for more songs.Sure it'll cost you, but isn't singing "Jessie's Girl" to an adoring crowd worth it?

There is no mystery to this game, just flat out karaoke fun.The "bundle" part of Karaoke Revolution Bundle is the microphone that plugs into your joystick (just like an xbox live headset).

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!! Can't Wait for the next one!!
This is an awesome game!!! I love that you have to actually have some talent in order to play. I love how the microphone can pick up what note you are singing. (Isn't technology crazy?!?!) This game is fun for the person/people playing and for anybody who might be just watching. The characters get pretty animated and they glow when you sing really well. (It's pretty challenging to try to get your character to glow during the entire song! But trust me, it can be done!) The crowd watching your character also waves their arms and dances if you are doing a good job. If not, then the crowd leaves and your character gets pretty depressed. I hope that Konami comes out with more for XBOX!!!

Note: there is one downside to this game. You find yourself singing the same songs over and over again. (60 songs really isn't that many to choose from)

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs more songs, but you can download if online w/XBOX Live
**Update May 25th** - I've had this game for 5 months and Konami still has not offered any new song downloads with the exception of the ones that were offered when the game was released on XBOX Live. This is absurd. Why no new downloads? This changes my entire opinion of the game. With no new songs to download, this takes away any new replay value this game could have had.

Review: This game took me off guard. I expected just a simple little Karaoke game with lyrics on the screen and nothing more. I never played the ones on the PS2 and really never wanted to, but when it came out for XBOX, I figured, what the heck, I enjoy singing so I'll give it a shot. In 4 words, "what a party game!" First off, Konami did a wonderful job of replicating the actual music from the original artists. The music is nearly cloned perfectly. People with home theaters will jam to this with the 5.1 Digital. The way the crowd reacts to you really gets your adrenaline flowin, if you sing bad, you're character will get booed off stage, heck, you do bad enough, the music stops--- if you do well, they will go nuts for you. It really makes you feel like you're at a serious karaoke jam. But not only do you just sing, you're also being judged! The game judges you by tone of voice and timing. It's very picky at times and when you don't know the words by heart, prepare to have a mean crowd by your side.

The different venues like county fairs, outdoor stadiums, party palaces and local bars gives the game a very realistic feel. The characters available are comical to watch on-screen and they move their mouth with yours, downright funny. The males will get a kick out of choosing the "Britney Look Alike Girl" and doing Friends in Low Places.

Up front, the music selection is a mixed bag and I won't judge if it's good or bad because different people prefer different things. It mostly included a little country, some 80's, 90's and some recent stuff. I know it's hard to make everyone happy, but the thing to do is offer more music. And that is where XBOX Live comes in. With an XBOX Live subscription (which is already $49.99 a year) you can connect online to get new songs. Of course there is no mention of charging us in the instruction booklet, but not to my surprise, there is a $4.99 fee for each group of songs. Each group of $4.99 contains 5 songs. I'm sorry, $4.99 is a rip off, especially when we may only want it for 1 or 2 of the selections. And we're already paying Microsoft to go online for our yearly subscription. Sigh. More money out the door...

And considering we spent $59.99 for the game itself, Konami seems a bit greedy. I would have liked it more if you could buy in singles for .99cents. Seems more logical. At this time "Jan 05" the downloads are pretty weak, only about 6 groups availalbe and the stuff they do have is pretty skimpy. A few 80's songs, Jessie's Girl, more Michael Jackson, some Britney Spears, Madonna, etc. Good stuff, but we need a wider variety. Hopefully over time they will get that price down and get more for us.

As a whole, I still loved this game, I'm a karaoke fan and love to jam out, other fans will love it to. As with me, some music you're simply never going to sing, or want to. The problem, some of the modes force you to sing what it chooses to continue on to earn new characters and venues. It's annoying and if it was up to me to market this game, I would make different genres of music to sell seperately instead of putting a mix of music on one game. How about an all 70's, all 80's, all 90's and "Modern" releases so people dont' get stuck with songs they'll never use. But as a whole,it's good fun and I'm lovin' the songs I do like, and the ability to download new songs is nice, but $4.99 for 5 songs is greedy and they should let you choose them individually. Duh Konami?

4-0 out of 5 stars Karaoke Review
I found that this is a great game. Not only is it fun to play alone, but it's great for parties. You can change the levels, from easier to harder, depending on how you sing. It shows how off your pitch is, which is a great feature! I think that this is great for people who love to sing, even if you're not good at singing!

4-0 out of 5 stars an excellent party game!
Had the chance to play this with different groups at holiday parties...from ages 6 to 75...this game was a huge hit...
The limitation of having only 50 songs is the only drawback.
Hours of hilariousness were had. It brought people out of their shells...some friends who would never be expected to sing at a party took to it like fish in water.
This was the definite hit of the holidays with young, old, hip, square etc.
I just wish I could find out how to get more songs! There is no info at XBOX LIVE about promised new downloadable songs for sale. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Weak ass game!
I like this game but, the slam dumk contest kindna weak. Street vol.2 is the best one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive Gameplay
When I purchased this game for X-Box, my decision was based on the enjoyment that I got out of NBA Street 2 for PS2.I figured that the 3rd installment would be at least as good as the 2nd. Believe me, it's better. The graphics are very unique, much more three-dimensional than the previous version.I know that there are a lot of people that are disappointed that Michael Jordan is not included as a bonus player, but there are many bonus players, courts, items, etc. that keep the game fresh and as unique and original as possible. So if you're in the market for a fun game that isn't too difficult to get the hang of, then this game is a great choice. It only takes a few pick-up games to get the hang of the controls, and the game just gets better and better after that. The only drawback that I have found with this game is the lack of camera angles. The available angles are either too close or too far away for my tastes, but I have gotten used to.

5-0 out of 5 stars If I Could I Would Give It 10 Stars.
I love all the NBA Streets series. Missing Michael Jordan but who cares this game is still fun as hell. The graphics are beautiful. I'm the King of this game, I rule this game. The best thing about is the slam dunk contest. So everybody get this game and don't try to challenge cause I will defeat you 21 (Me) to Zip (U).

5-0 out of 5 stars Best basketball game yet!
This game is awesome its got TON'S of characters such as the beastie boys.I love this game. The only bad thing about it is that fruity dj cucumber...whatever everything else is good!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best racing games ever!!!!!!!!
Project Gotham Racing 2 is an awesome game!!!!! You get lot's of sweet cars, racing environments, graphics, with and online play!!! Their is lot of game time involved with Kudos Racing, Arcade Racing, multi- player. Awesome Graphics + Ferrari,Porsche,Jaguar, GT, Mini,Audi, Ford/Chevy/Dodge, classics,Renault,Suburau,Lamborghini: The list goes on forever!!! If you want me to name some specific cars I will:
Ferrari Enzo, Ford GT, Dodge Viper, Jaguar XJ220,Lamborghini Diablo, Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 SE, Porsche 365/classic,Jaguar XKR,and many, many more!!! You also race on courses in Toyko,Yokohama,Sydeny,Paris,Moscow,London,Chicago, Washington D.C., Edinburg, and many other places. If I would of listed everything my hands would go numb!!! The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because their are other games like Gran Trismo 4,and the Burnout games. This game and Gran Trismo 4 give you the best graphics!!! For any racer or car junkie this is a must have!!! The Online Experience also makes this a game you will keep playing for years!!! You can also customize your musig and everything; awesome huh!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get any better...
It just doesnt get any better than online racing with Project Gotham 2. Without XBOX live, this is a decent game, fun to try and beat the game on the difficulty levels from easy to VERY difficult (known as platinum). but WITH xbox live, and the ability to race all the cars and all the tracks with tons of people LIVE is what makes this awesome. If youve got XBOX live, this is a no brainer for the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Currently, my favorite racing game.
Project Gotham Racing #1 was extremely fun, providing the gamer with many different kinds of cars to choose from, (however most of them had to be unlocked which was a bummer) a lot of maps to choose from, and plus multiplayer mode.

Now PGR2 features even MORE cars then the 1st one, a lot more maps then the first one and what is best is that it has online capabilities.

Graphics: The graphics in PGR2 are amazing. The car models look extremely realistic and the background design is over average. To bad there aren't any cutscenes though...

Gameplay: The gameplay is PGR2 is pretty simple/self explanatory. Race your car and win! Thats practically it. However, PGR2 includes a feature that no other racing game does. Kudos! By cutting sharp turns, you earn a certain amount of Kudos which goes towards your "Kudos Jar." Some races depend on the abount of Kudos that you collect, some races depend on whether you come into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. It all depends. This, i found was very unique and a cool aspect on PGR2.

Audio: The audio all depends on whether you like rap/hip hop music or not. If you like it, you will give the audio feature a 5/5, if you dont, then you will most likely give it a 2/5 or a 1/5 if you HATE the rap music that blares out of the radio in your car.

Online: The online feature in PGR2 is cool. You can basically only race your opponents online and trash talk them which is very fun! Plus there is downloadable content.

As a result, if you are a fan of Project Gotham Racing #1, you will fall in love with Project Gotham Racing #2!

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun for online play, but grossly unrealistic
The game is fun if you're interested in playing bumper cars, but unrealistic otherwise. The majorityof the courses are easy to beat even at gold level, with about 10% being an unreasonable pain in the butt.Winning a race usually involves pushing other cars around (the game rewards you for this), and be ready to be spun around yourself - the computer will aim to hit you if you're heading the race by taking the inside line and ramming you as you're taking the corner.Should you try to do the same, you'll have a much harder time, as cars controlled by the computer are very resilinient to being bumped and in some law-of-nature defying manner just keep no racing faster than you.

A major nuissance is that you're always started at the last spot, and often the game will race perfectly until the last lap, where the leader makes a dumb mistake and bumps into a wall.. this game really tries your patience.

On the up side, graphics are fun, as is the option to pick your own music.Online game play is a lot of fun though, as everyone's on a level playing field.I swear the computer cheats when you're playing against it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Rally game out there...
I had to write a review entirely because the spotlight review was written by someone who hadn't 'got' this game or taken the time to explore the settings.

Actually, I see reviews all the time claim this game is an 'arcade' rally game, indicating that perhaps the game lacks depth, maybe has unrealistic physics, or even simple fake graphics.

All of these points are wrong. Completely false. The cars handle extremely realistically, and most folks who play this agree this is the BEST looking racer available. Better than Forza? Not sure, but better than PGR2 by a hundred - double the frame rate for start. You see, not least of which is the 60fps you get with a HD TV, but add to that the amazing reflections, muddy splashes, infinite distance view (with a tiny amount of inconsequential pop-up trees) and you have a showcase game. I've had more than one PS2 owner go out and buy an XBOX for this game after playing it in my house - testament indeed to the incredible realism this Rally racer offers.

Previously, the 'easy left' that you co-pi states was mentioned as a fault... When your rally co-pilot claims 'Easy left' or 'hard right' then you have the game on arcade setting.

A simple click in the settings would result in '3 left opens to 4' or '1 right, opens to 3. Bump onto straight through tunnel. Hairpin right' offering a much more useful, accurate indication of the upcoming road conditions.

Ultimately - this game is stunning. Worth every penny of the budget price it's currently at - if you're hesitant due to lax reviews, don't be. I've put in hundreds of hours on this amazing game and it's a real as the Xbox can get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb!
I'm not a big gamer. I've had my XBOX for over a year and it's mostly collected dust.I love driving simulation games and I think rally is the most fun of the various forms of driving so I picked up RalliSport Challenge 2 based on a day and a half long online search for a good rally game. All of the reviews said that RSC2 had the best combination of realism, fun and graphics.

They were right! The phisics model is incredible and the damage is very realistic. When you start an event, your car is shiny and new - but when you get to the end, you may be missing a few body parts, have a few broken windows and you're coverd in dust, mud, etc.Now THAT's RALLY!

Above all though is the scenery! The graphics are so good that one of my favorite things to do is to just watch the replay of the latest run!

Make you own music video! -
The folks who made this game really added a cool feature with the replay options - you have full controll over the playback speed and camera selection.Because you can load your own music to the XBOX hard drive, when the replay starts you hear your favorite music playing along with the game sounds and video of your last run.As you control the playback, you can adjust the replay speed from ultra fast to super slow motion with the trigger levers - basically making a live music video out of the replay footage!Very sweet!

Australian dirt, Swedish snow, British leaves, French cobblestone streets...
    Get This Game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing game!
The detail and realism in Rallisport Challenge 2 is amazing.
From rain and mud on your windshield to the wheelspin and suspension on each racecar,no detail is left to chance.
Numerous race courses, race formats, and realistic tuning options mean you will never run out of fun.

Hands down, this is the best racing game I have seen on Xbox.

    3-0 out of 5 stars RallySport1 better than RallySport2
The driving and scenes are more realistic on RalliSport2, but it's not as much fun as RalliSport1. RalliSport1 gives you better courses and better cars to begin with. It also seems like RalliSport2 takes a long time to download...more so than RalliSport1.

5-0 out of 5 stars sweet
I think this game is awesome not only graphic-wise(which they are awesome), but your profile name also becomes your xbox name, and I think that is awesome!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a couple of improvements needed
I love this game. Graphics are great, physics fantastic etc.

There are a few improvements that I want to suggest, but don't change whats good with the game now - I would hate to see this become an arcade racer!
    1) The controller customization gives you just about every option you could imagine except one - you can't use the right thumbstick to change gears - please put this option in.
    2) ability to save favourite runs for replaying later (watching a run can be almost as fun a driving it - especially a few of the big offs)
    3) choice of camera angle for replay (inside, outside, helicpoter, as well as the tv style that the game currently uses for replay)
    4) movie controls on the replay so you can watch a certain section over again (perhaps from a different camera angle)
    5) a few more options in car setup (perhaps more precise tire compound control)
    6) a couple of very long courses up to 10-12 minutes (most are under 4 minutes)
    7) improved graphics (alhough this is well below my gameplay/replay wants)

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Disappointment!
I don't care how much "Fun" and "Realistic" is the pitch from the marketing. This game is BAD! Pretty cars in the select menu, that's it for the cool graphics! In game visuals are lame! The Replay mode is just.. well I have not seen such a low quality since my Dreamcast!

And the controls and "realistic" driving? Where? I'm a race game junkie, so my skill is pretty decent. I can hardly believe that a race car needs 10 second to get to 30mph and fly out of control on slightest turns. Yes visually it feels you are still at 5mph. I returned the game after first 30 minutes of play.

Rally Sport Challenge 2 is 1000 times better! Collin McRae's game.... is just wrong...

5-0 out of 5 stars Plain and simple...the best rally gameever period!!!
I've been a follower of the colin mcrae rally series since CMR 2 and they all have been great, but this one beats them all. The graphics are top notch and the physics are really good. You'll find yourself moving your arms and legs with the car in front of your TV, breathing hard in order to catch the ghost car in front of you or trying to beat the leader by seconds in the championship mode. Yes it is true that going downhill it is hard to see where you're going and you have to pay a lot of attention to you co-driver, but that's what rally is all about. the detail in terrain and in the cars are great!!. trust me , you won't be sorry to buy this game if you really like rally sims. Good Luck!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Could have been a 5 star classic...
I'm sure most people will compare this game to Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2, so I'll go ahead and jump on that bandwagon. The way I see it, RSC has more of an arcade feel to it, while Colin2005 has more of a simulation feel to it. RSC might be more
fun for the casual video game player because it is easier to master. But for my money I want the real-deal simulation. Anyone
who has watched rally racing on TV will agree that this game is as close to reality as it gets. Need proof? If you chose the in car camera view, you can hear your turbo spool up, the blow-off valve, and rocks/gravel pinging off of the undercarriage. If you chose the outside camera view (depending on which car you pick) you can see inside the car. What you'll see is: driver, co-driver, spare tire, fuel cell, and you might be able to see your driver shift gears and pull the e-brake.Want more? Drive crazy enough and you can knock off doors, rear hatch, hood, wheels, windows, and you can lose gears just like in real life.
Lower your car too much and your exhaust will scrape the ground
and sparks will fly. You still need more? Choose the in car view
and knock off your hood. When you rev up the engine you'll see
it shake. This game is a true simulation.

Okay, I won't BS you its not all good. Colin2005 could have easily been a 5 star game. First, the graphics cant touch RSC.
They don't suck, they're just not as good. But, in this game's defense once you start racing you won't notice. Second, the sound could be better. If you go with the outside camera view, the engine sound is alot lower. The sounds are accurate, but not as good as RSC. Third, the outside camera view will screw you over when you go downhill. You won't be able to see the road very well because the view is too low. Lastly, if you don't
listen to your co-driver you will smash the heck out of your car.Like I said this game is a true sim and it might be too real. If you like rally racing games you NEED this one. If you are a casual gamer, I say rent first, but be warned this game is long and there is no way you'll finish it in a week. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must For Any NBA Fan
I have both NBA Live & this game here. The fun factor for this game is way better. The only thing NBA Live has for it is the All Star Weekend. I find myself playing this game non-stop. This is the best basketball game I've ever played. Way to go SEGA!!!!!! The only downfall for this game is each player has a high % of making shots. It's almost like each player has a portion of MJ in them. I'm not complaining about that, because I like high scoring games instead of low scoring (due to defense.)

5-0 out of 5 stars $20.00 is worth it
    Graphics:9/10
    Near perfect but not enough
    Sound:11/10
the announcers sound exactly lik the announcers
    A.I.:11/10
yur opponents respond unbleiveabley to yur actions
    Controls:9/10
it's good, but the free throw(penalty for personal foul)is really difficult too do
    Fun:10/10
    this game is really fun
overall i played both nba 2k5 and nba live, i say 2k5 is the better 1

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun but Repetitive
When comparing the best selling basektball games on the XBOX or even PS2 market, you find that there is so much competition between ESPN NBA 2K5 and NBA Live 2005.So then you begin to place the detailed specs side by side and grasp the one that first hits your attention. To me it was ESPN, because of the awareness towards price listings and such. For such a compact and time-worthy game, you almost feel like your ripping off Sega.ESPN being 15 dollars, and Live being 30 dollars.

The Graphics are the most dazzling spec offered by ESPN.There is no comparison between NBA Live, because for the past 2 years, there have been no show of improvement from the lack of depth the graphics express. At least Sega has improved them from last year.

    Graphics: 9/10

The Gameplay is very fun at times. You find yourself playing the game in increments of time, rather than consecutive hours. It's a basketball game and all the games are pretty much the same, depending on your style of gameplay.I personally have not played one of the most talked-about game option called 24/7.I've nibbed at 24/7 a little and tried experimenting with it, but I don't really have fun playing 1 on 1 games against the CPU.I like to strategize and work with a 5 man team, making it feel like your there, juking your opponents out.

    8/10

The Sound is mediocre. The commentary is very repetitive and can drive you to the extreme where you just want to go to "gameplay options" and turn off game commentary.Bill Walton does have some comments that give alittle spaz to the game. The sound of the crowd is really realistic, because when a team begins a roll, or nears the end of a clenching game, the crowd roars depending on weather your team or the opposing team is playing home. When a cold streak hits a team, the crowd dies, and the amplitude decreases. The music tracks are pretty good too.Nothing featured by many mainstream artists, but the songs give a good beat for the game.

    8/10

So overall this game can be very very fun, but you'll find yourself being caught up in a great game, and then later pushing it aside until your real love of the game brings you back to its experience.XBOX Live is also very fun, especially if your really good at it, because the competition can get really serious and dominant.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GAME OF BASKETBALL ON THE MARKET!!!!!!!!
When I first heard about the 2K5 games going to be $20.00, I figured that these games were all going to suck because of the price. So I decided to see if this was true, so I just rented it.The same exact day that I rented it, I went back to Blockbuster, returned the game, went to EB Games, and bought ESPN NBA 2K5.It was that good.It is some of the best works of graphics, gameplay, sound, and of course the ESPN broadcast style that has ever been put into a basketball game.ESPN NBA 2K5 tops all the components of NBA Live 2005 except for the slam dunk contest in NBA Live, which isn't anything special. The gameplay combined with the replays, presentation, and sideline broadcasting of ESPN makes this the BEST.The graphics are great, not perfect, but easily the best of all basketball games to this day.The sound is FABULOUS, slightly edging out last years 2K4.This game will own your soul.

The all new Association mode is my favorite part of this whole game. You gain complete control over your favorite franchise, basically stepping into the shoes of Rudy Tomjanovich on the sidelines of the Lakers' Staples Center, or any other NBA manager. With the team chemistry and you having to take care of and answer questions of your players, you feel like a real manager, having to take care of financial issues as well as making your players happy. You sometimes even begin to get headaches because of you wanting to make sure you are making the right decisions that will benefit you as a manager as well as the rest of your players. The graphics are very good and easily create the best replicas of NBA basketball arenas and players in video games. When I first played this game, I almost stopped with my jaw dropped in awe of the realism of this game.Although it is very hard to beat out EA Sports, Visual Concepts, Sega, and ESPN all on one team definately have supremacy over the NBA basketball title here.Let me put it this way, the fans in the stands definately do not push the XBox to the limits in means of graphic capabilites. They are kind of boring and not enthusiastic. But with the fast paced action of NBA 2K5, you don't have time to pay attention to the fans.

The controls can be frustrating at times and can take a while to master, when you get the hang of these controls, you discover that they are responsive and quite easy to use. Here is how I rate the game:

Overall: 9 / 10 (No company has yet completely mastered how to perfectly design basketball games, but this is easily the best attempt to master it)
    Overall: 10 / 10
Gameplay: 9 / 10 (Fabulous, but not perfect)
Graphics 9 / 10 (I'm not giving it a ten because of the lifeless fans)
    Value: 10 / 10 (For $20.00, nobody can complain)
Sound: 11 / 10 (Best on the market)
    Presentation: 11 / 10 (Can't compete with ESPN)
    Realism: 10 / 10
Controls: 9 / 10 (Great once you master them, but frustrating to learn at first)
Features: 10 / 10 (Best of all basketball games)

This year, ESPN NBA 2K5 has officially one the award as being the best, most complete hoops game on the market.Without ESPN in league with Sega and Visual Concepts, this award would be a lot harder for the 2K5 series to grab a hold of.Don't waste your time with NBA Live 2005.This game is easily an overall better game. This game is basically crystal clear with hardly any flaws. For only $20.00 plus the great gameplay, fabulous graphics (except for those darn fans), and of course the fantastic ESPN broadcasting and presentation, get rid of all your old basketball games (NBA Live included) and make room for the king of all NBA basketball games: ESPN NBA Basketball 2K5!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars cant compete with espn
For $20 you can get the best basketball game out there. For this game first i shall talk about the cons. The grahics are pretty bad and takes some time time to get used to. Though the players are very detailed. If you look close you can see sweat on their shirts. It is also very hard to do a dunk and if you do pull one off you'd have to be in the exact right spot. There are many good things too. Sometimes your players come to you to ask questions. The gameplay also works well too. Overall this game is a hit for $20. espn is going to run ea sports out of buissnes. For gamecube fans i'm sorry but life isn't fair. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun
This is a fun game even if you can't sing. And I think it can help your singing as you get into it.The game is similar to the dance revolution game.On the bottom of the screen there will be the words you need to sing and a visual guide with an arrow pointing up or down to let you know that you're flat or sharp. If you're just right, you get the crowd excited and cheering. It's a great party game.My only complaint is that there aren't enough songs on it.You can go on Xbox live and download other songs, but they're $5 for 5 or 6 songs. In addition, the songs available appear to be the same songs that are on the Playstation 2 version of this game (like Jessie's Girl, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Sweet Home Alabama).Having said that, though, it's definitely worth getting.

5-0 out of 5 stars For X-box is Karaoke Reviolution not Karaoke Revolution 3
Love the series.I was never someone who hit the karaoke bar's on Friday night, but every party we have, we bring it out and its always a hit.Even the people who don't compete will usually sing along as they watch.Be careful, its addictive.

4-0 out of 5 stars sduck
Love it! Its for every person who loves to sing, but won't get up in public. I received it as a Christmas gift, and its great you can have the fun of performing in front of a crowd without ever leaving the house. My family came for Christmas and they wouldn't sing at first, when they realized how fun it was we played for 2 hours. My nieces 13, 11, 9 went out the next week and bought it for PS2 and fight over the mike. Lots of fun

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite golf games for the consoles
Yep, I'm one of those people that likes Links 2004 better than the Tiger Woods games. Thats not to say that I don't like the Tiger Woods games at all but I think that on the Xbox, Links is the way to go. I prefer the sim approach as opposed to Tigers more arcade style although I think both are great games. I really like the graphics in Links as well as the sound effects and music. Links also has online play which is fun but I have actually spent most of my time building up the stats of my created guy. You can also download several courses over Xbox live although I have yet to do that so I can't say if they are worth it or not. Overall, both series have their pros and cons, however Links 2004 is one golf game that will entertain you for quite a while.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This is one the best golf games I have ever owned. You can create your charatures and then follow them thru their career. The graphics are really realistic, and you can upload your own soundtrack to listen to while you golf. I personally uploaded Tim McGraw's greatest hits, and that is great to listen to while I golf. This game is really fun to play with your friends.

4-0 out of 5 stars best golf game
this golf game is simple so it is easier for kids. Also it has many modes, such as practice shots and intense competition!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Tiger Wood
Not a lot of fluff, just good game play. When you do what you're suppose to do you make the shot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rock Solid Gameplay
Links 2004 is a fairly decent golf game. You get to choose and design your player and then start off on a career. The controls are fairly easy and there's really no learning curve to this game. One you pass a few tests, new courses and tournaments open up.The one thing I didn't like were the announcers in this game.Their commentary is so choppy it gets annoying, fast.
Despite the game's uneven presentation, Links 2004 is still a good choice. The game is not much different from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, but it's generally not as polished or feature-rich. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best fishing available in your living room
This is an excellent game. You have to find good fishing spots, and arrange your tackle. There is tons of equipment, boats, etc to choose from. This is the best fishing simulation I have ever played on a console. The game is easier if you already have a good amount of fishing knowledge, but the game will teach you if you're patient. This is a great game to play online with friends while chatting. It's fun just to drive your boat up to a competitor and watch them reel in the big one.I almost feel like I'm outside fishing when I play this game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Buggy, buggy, and buggy!
The concept here is great. This isn't like other fishing games which are shot from the lures 'point of view'.Instead, it is just what you might see if you went fishing yourself. There are lots of lures (soft and hard) to choose from and the action is realistic. Unfortunately, Pro Fishing Challenge (PFC) is horribly buggy.

I purchased the Naki fishing reel for the Xbox along with this game (PFC claims the *only* fishing reel controller for the Xbox works with its software) but it does not work as advertised! The A button frequently stops working after a fish is caught (you are forced to pull the controller out and push it back in).Occaisionally, the reel will not work at all. This may seem minor but it is a pain when you can't reel while a fish is biting. In fact, it is so irritating that I'm returning both the game *and* the controller.By the way, the default Xbox controller controls are unintuitive and cumbersome; what fun are fishing games without the 'reel' controller?

As with all Xbox games & accessories I have encountered, support is non-existant (calling the xbox.com numbers is a *joke* and nakiusa.com has been down for days).Your only real option is whatever grace period is allowed by the retailer. This coupled with the bugs is why I cannot recommend this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Fishing Game
This is the best fishing game you can buy for the xbox. It's a true simulation of fishing, and it does take some fishing knowledge, that the game will teach you. This is a vey fun game to play online and offline.I highly recommend it, even if you've never fished before

5-0 out of 5 stars Online tournaments... FANTASTIC
    Online tournaments, fantastic

I couldn't believe what a great game this is. A fisherman for over 30 years I didn't expect much but this game is truly is a fishing simulator. The best part about it is online options and lobby you can create any kind of fishing tournament restricting the line to 2 pound test, pan fish only, all the way to any combination you can think of . You can even restrict motors to four hp or any boat they own.

Nightly tournaments are held at 5:30 p.m. Pacific 8:30 p.m. Eastern to check the complete fishing tournament schedule and calendar go to XBLgames.com

This game is a must-have for anyone even remotely interested in fishing but it is an excellent videogame for those who don't fish. Being a simulator it will also help you learn how to fish.

3-0 out of 5 stars Explanation for why names aren't there
For the same reason when you buy an NCAA jersey, it doesn't have a name on the back...

The NCAA can't directly market a single player. Yes, the networks can, ala ESPN showing a little JJ Reddick picture before a Duke/UNC game. Or CBS showing Marvin Williams taking an alley-oop from Raymond Felton for the Final Four.

However, they can't pay these athletes so they can't directly market them. That's one reason why it's damn near impossible to see a college star marketing anything that isn't the NCAA and academics.

It's why Andrew Bogut or Reggie Bush can't do Wheaties commercials.

It's also the reason anyone on a 2K5 of EA Sports college sporting game-over has either graduated or in the NBA from the next year. (I know NCAA 2K has rights with the Heisman winner. As EA once did. Last year's Naismith winner, Jamar Nelson of St. Joe's, is absent from either of this year's games that feature Okafor (EA) and Childress (2K5) on their respective covers).

However, if Emeka Okafor had stayed in school, it's very likely Ben Gordon (or another NBA-player, ala Tony Allen, would've been on the cover.

Imagine the same scenario with TJ Ford replacing Carmelo Anthony on 2004.

Most know this...but many others don't. So that is your answer. It's not to be lame or lazy, it's simply the fact that NCAA can only use player numbers and their likeness (within reason of course) during their games. I imagine any potential recruits are forgotten as well for same laws/reasons.

It seems dumb, but that's the NCAA for you.

Making billions for universities, networks, and themselves...and not letting the players have anything at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars great game
ncaa march madness was a great game, who cares if you dont know who the players are you can pull off upsets in the collage classics mode and win the tornament in the dynasty mode. It is a great basketball game to play with your friends and it is very entertaining by yourself

1-0 out of 5 stars Why EA, why!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (from A-Hay in Memphis)
I like EA Sports, I got this game NCAA March Madness 2005, it's fun but what really got me was when I "PAID" $49.99 and cant export your college players to NBA Live, that mess up. Why they go and put the player number, but not the name with it. They otta put the player piture on there too. If they can make over 1000 right fight songs and the real mascot, why not the player name and the piture, Lucky I didnt tear the plastic, now I can put it back in there, and get my money back and go get NBA 2K5 since I got NCAA 2K5.

2-0 out of 5 stars March Flawness
I was expecting a lot more out of this game. Even after writing to EA Sports, informing them what they needed to do to make this game better, the game still lacks what it could be, or should I say what their competitor does just right?

March Madness 2005 has somewhat improved from 2004, but it still has ways to go (time for a new game engine, don't you think?). First of all, I like the new play-calling screens, that can easily be opened and operated; and I like the new time out feature as well. The Pontiac classic game challenge is very fun, too! The front menu screens are much better and readable, and the Dynasty mode is better than last year's with a neat calendar and PDA system.

But overall, the game has got to be a major disappointment for die-hard basketball fans. One thing this year is that the game player cannot export their draft classes into NBA Live. The game play is comparable to NBA Live 2005, with has better spacing, rebounding, and tip-ins. The player models are better as well, but not a significant change from MM 2004. As far as comparing this to ESPN'S College sim, which sells for just $20, there is no comparison. ESPN has much better game play and a more intuitive player-editing system than EA's. But if there is one complaint I have this year for both NBA Live and March Madness, it is the awful camera views. When you are playing a game you are either too far away or too close. And for some reason, the game does not recognize your previous setting of camera views, so you have to go back and change it. If EA would stop trying to add so much as the kitchen sink to a game and instead try to really improve the basics, it would really shine.

Until then, ESPN'S game is the way to go this season!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good game, but major flaw
All in all this is a good game, except for the fact that the A.I has no defence skilz, every time u controll the ball u are able to drive, i scored 89 points, 80 of them were by driving. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good addicting "Bejeweled reminscent fun" for 20 bucks!
Gamers that like Tetris, Columns, Bejeweled, Collapse, you will love Ultra Bust A move and there have not been games like this on XBOX, the simple premise will keep you happy for a long time.

Ultra Bust A Move is somewhat like Bejeweled only this time your shooting the jewels from a cannon to line them up and requires targeting to line them up and make them disappear. It's very difficult to describe but the simplicity of it, no matter how you look at it, is very addicting. The strategy of lining up colored jewels and targeting them exactly where you want them to go, it's the perfect game for your mother or young child to play. It's very easy to get into and advanced gamers will appreciate the harder levels as you progress. The online part of it is basic enough, you just go at it one on one with another player and try to beat his score on a split screen, basic, yes, fun, I think so!

The graphics are good for what the game is, very colorful and bright but some of the levels may hurt your eyes after awhile, don't play this in the dark, you might want too see an eye doctor after. Very cheesy music and custom soundtracks would have been wonderful, but we didn't get that option, sigh. Because the music intact is downright awful.

Overall, for 19 bucks, I was happy. It's good fun. Just hope you have sunglasses. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Remake
This game is at least 3 stars if you don't own any of the Tony Hauk games. This game is exactly the same except that you're
on a snowboard and going down hill. I would not rcomend getting this game if you have ever played Tony Hauk and didn't like it.
The game objective is the same as Tony Hauk. It's pretty much a remake.

5-0 out of 5 stars That was fat!
Everything a snowboarder could wish for in the offseason.
If your little brother brings over his friend who still needs to learn about the order of the birds and the bees, and, lets say he customizes his boarders apparel to look a little on the fruity side, then the cameramen will not hisitate to express exactly what is going through your head, so you don't have to go through the effort of saying it yourself.I won't mention exactly what they say, but it starts whith "Qu" and ends with "eer!"
Really hard to advance, but the bragging rights are worth it.Also, there's a video of Australian pro Tora Bright. She's kinda cute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Snowboarding Game!
I played this on my friends Xbox and at first I was like man he bought a snowboarding game, but in fact this game is awesome. It pretty much has it all and can be very hard and you have to stick certain things or go all out. It can really get irritating on pro and photoshot challenges towards the end of the career but it just makes you that much better or very lucky. Oh yeah in his game, maybe all, there is quite a few glitches, like starting a pro challenge and just falling backwards and falling into a cliff and be stuck.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Amped 2
Okay, I have done real snowboarding & played Amped 2 & I can tell you that this IS a realistic simulation, In snowboarding, you really DO gain speed that fast, you really DO get that much air off ramps & you ARE able to pull off a 360 on the flat, the only unrealistic aspects of the game for me were the sparks when you grinded a rail and the way your character slows down. the levels are huge with short loading times, the variety of tricks for an Extreme sport's title is second only to the Tony Hawk Titles. you wont get bored in a hurry, buy this game NOW!

Australia does have snow if anyone think's I'm lying about snowboarding

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty cool
I'm not usually a fan of sports-type games, but Amped 2 was pretty good. I like the fact that you don't have to play as any particular person. You get to pick from several base characters, male/female, black/white, etc. and then choose what types of clothes, goggles, gloves, boards, etc. you want you character to have. The game gives you a freedom to explore massive parts of mountains and just mess around, but you'll have to unlock different mountains in campaign mode. Campaign mode is pretty cool though: for each mountain you have to complete certain tricks, beat certain high scores, take a few photoshoots, etc. which are challenging at times but usually pretty fun. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Rent it first.......
A lot has already been covered in previous reviews.Mybiggest gripe is a lack of head to head play in season mode!If you are playing another person you have to play on the same team unless you are in quick game mode.In season mode you can no longer have you and your friend pick 2 fav teams and play the season out.You now have to select all 30 teams and sim all the other games which seem to arise out of order and you and up doing a sim game on the one you wished to play.

Secondly, the manual for this game is about 4 pages long.If you are not already familiar with previous NHL gameplay, you will be a bit lost.

Rent this game even though it's under $30......

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as people make it out to be
I am not going to hype this game or make negative aggressive remarks about it either. The problem that we have here is there are no good NHL games in the video game market at this time. I own ESPN NHL 2k5 for the PS2 and I thought it was a terrific game and even improved on last year's ESPN Sega title. That was until I got 26 games into a dynasty and the game froze up on me. Not one of those oh damn maybe I should reset the game and play it over. No, the dynasty froze up. I could not even simulate past the game that I was playing to go on with my franshise. The game played like a 20 dollar game when it happened to me again. This time during my playoff run. I received an Xbox for Christmas and purchased NHL 2005 with a gift card. The game was refreshingly fun to play, although I must say that the ESPN 2k5 game was the better game all around, the fact that the NHL 2005 game shows promise not to freeze up gives me hope that I can somewhat enjoy a hockey game for a console. The graphics are very good and the shadows on the ice and the jerseys are much more vivid and refined than last year's EA Sports title. There are times when players seem to do incredibly impossible moves that I believe are graphic glitches. The players still seem like they are running on a frozen mat and the physics of ice skating do not seem very well done. The dynasty mode is deep as usual and fun as ever. The player models are well done and are looking better and better with every year that goes by especially with the player's looking more and more like their real life selves. The main drawback there will be is that the dynastys only last 10 seasons. There really should be more seasons than that when other EA sports games have dynastys that last 30 years for Madden, 120 years for MVP baseball and 25 years for NBA Live. I recommend this game for anyone who is looking for a DECENT hockey title to play until the players come back from the lock out. Like I said earlier, the ESPN game would beat this game in overall gameplay and fun factor if they did not have those software glitches. I rather have paid the extra 20 dollars or so to have a complete game. Overall NHL 2005 receives 3.75 out of 5 stars. There are too many things that keep this game away from getting a full 4 star rating i.e too much hitting, corny commentators etc...

2-0 out of 5 stars Did I mistakenly buy Hitz?
I'm an avid hockey fan, player, and supporter of the EA franchise, having played the games since 93.This year EA took a major step back from having a fun hockey game to having a frustrating one.(I've played 21 games into a season on normal or hard (I forgot) and am 15-4-1-1 so I'm not complaining because I can't win.)

Issues:When you switch players it often doesn't go to the guy you'd expect it to go to (i.e. the closest one to the puckcarrier).Your team AI is dumb as a box of rocks and the computer has way too much time to make moves while being a few inches from your goalie. This and weird shots always being scored makes this game frustrating. The real killer is the hitting. No NHL game ends with close to 100 hits per team.Bodies are always flying and there are no calls. This was a bit out of control. Some team information in season mode is hard to find (like who's hurt, hot or cold).

Positives: The game looks good and the skaters move good.It sounds like a real game and the music is limited, but fun.The 4 for all mode is fun for just messing around. The fighting mode (in terms of when you want to fight) is much better. Now you can try to pick one but the other player has to want to dance as well.

Overall EA took a major step back this year making a simulation game into an arcade game that trys to look like a simulation.

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not learn from last years mistakes
Last years NHL 2004 was a major step backward for the usually good NHL series from EA sports. It included very poor control of player movement, a bad passing system, poor one-timers, difficult face-off system, lack of fully editable players in dynasty modes, bad menu flow, not enough tweakable controls to create your own experience, and worst of all was the over the top hitting/checking.
This years edition only improves on the problems with the menu flow (this years is actually quite good), however it seems the other issues have been neglected, or made even worse.

The most noticable and annoying element to game has to be the ridiculous checking and hitting. There is so much checking in this game that the rest of the gameplay should follow suite of games like NHL Hitz, but instead it mixes Hitz arcade style with simulation gameplay. This creates an extremely frustrating situation for trying to create plays with your teammates, and for getting ahead in the game (unless your playing on the easiest difficulty). There is so much hitting that the announcers are constantly cutting each other off to say "what a crushing hit" or the often "LAID OUT".The worst part about this though is that even though they provide you with 5 slider bars for adjusting checking gameplay, changing them makes little to no impact on the experience, leaving the sliders useless. The funny thing is that this games main feature is OPEN ICE gameplay, but it is negated by the extremely easy checking. Even after you have created open ice, it can be easily closed by a check from behind from a player that realistically could never have caught up to the player with the puck.

If you can stand the over the top checking aspect of the game, then you are still left with some other major problems. The feel of the control is one thing that seems similar to last year.Movement for players is very strange, there are two seperate shooting buttons (which can be confusing), passing can sometimes give strange results. It also seems like there is latency to every action you take, especially wrist shots. While those aspects all feel like they are taking control away from the player, deking and shot aiming are pretty good.

While there are some new cool little throwaway features implemented (like line chemistry), all of the neglected problems listed in the first paragraph of this review makes NHL 2005 no better if not worse than last years dissapointing game in the series. The good news though is that ESPN NHL Hockey and ESPN NHL 2K5 are both great hockey games, and are outstanding in comparison to the last two NHL games from EA. It's absolutely no contest, go save yourself $30 and pickup this years ESPN NHL 2K5 instead of NHL 2005. You will not regret it if you care at all about fun gameplay.

2-0 out of 5 stars major disappointment
just not up to par...limited game modes...awkward game play...no ea sports bio or rewards...ESPN 2K5 is much, much better at under $20 ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A "rewarding" racing experience
I'm not a Ford fan but I really enjoy this game. There are three things that I like: First, it rewards you for winning races and challenges. When you first pop the game in you have limited cars/tracks to choose until you earn them! The second thing I think is pretty cool is actually the sound...when you go through tunnels the echo is wild, when you skid on dirt you hear it like your ear is out the window!Third, tons of variety in regards to tracks, cars, and scenarios from standard race to stock car/NASCAR theme to driving skills challenge courses. One last note...I picked up mine in the "bargain" bin for 9.99 but don't let the low price fool you it's worth full price! One caution...if you crave "true to life" as possible racing...may want to pass on this one as it's really not obsessed with minute detail more on gameplay and variety.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes its Ford racing...wish it were Chevy! But its great!
WE purchased this game for our little boy because he loves his Papaws Ford truck, and there is a truck that looks just like it in this game so this was a BIG HIT when he played it! Its really a lot of fun, even though my husband and I prefer if it would have been Chevy racing!Too bad we have'nt seen a Chevy racing game yet!Anyhow- its great and I would highly recommend this game. Its one that you should purchase.2 player mode is the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC ! ! !Much better than I expected
FORD RACING 2 (XBOX)...WOW! This game is so much better than I expected. There's no slow down, the graphics are fantastic and it's fast, man is it fast! The since of speed is amazing. If for no other reason, you'll love this game just for it's since of speed alone.
The cars handle differently, but all seem to have a good since of traction and, in case I forgot to mention, speed. SPEED! SPEED! SPEED!
It's not perfect. There are only 2 views, 3rd person(behind the car) and 1st person(bumper view). I really would have liked a cockpit view(inside the car), but you can't have everything. There's also not alot of car adjusting/tweaking. So there are a couple of faults. But for it's price, it just can't be beat.
FORD RACING 2 is easily one of the fastest and toughest racers I've played on the XBOX to date(10-15-04). Where it lacks in adjusting and tweaking, it makes up for in fantastic graphics and super-fast racing SPEED!
A MUST FOR ANY RACING FAN.

3-0 out of 5 stars Have You Seen Ford Lately?
I couldn't help but shake the feeling that Ford Racing 2 is build Ford tough. Much like the line of cars and trucks the game focuses on, the game is nicely priced and an acceptable means of gaming. It's not going to impress anyone but it's not going to kill anyone either.

The game looks surprisingly good and despite claims to the contrary on the box, it supports 480p. The cars also look solid, but no matter how hard you smash 'em you can't get a dent anywhere. The real problem with this game is in the control, structure, and depth. The control feels like driving a boat down a channel and never manages to have the powerful feeling that every great racer has. The structure isn't terrible, it's just not very good...same goes for depth and the game as a whole.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shockingly Tasty!
Expecting a budget title for a budget price I picked this one up along with a few other XBOX racers. What a pleasant surprise!

Developer Razorworks is the English studioe behind the excellent Total Immersion Racing of a couple years back and they have obviously got some skills when it comes to racing games. This title starts of with a weak subject and gives it the deluxe treatment.

Virtually every car Ford has ever made that didn't suck is here, along with a great many concept cars. Classics are in abundance all modelled very, very well. They look fabulous thanks to a state-of-the-art graphics engine on the NVidia hardware and the bright, over saturated colors fit the feel perfectly.

The sound is spot on too. The Mustang's 289 V-8 sounds exactly as I remember mine, only without the banging sound when mine blew up. The soundTRACK is all original and also surprisingly good. It's as though someone gave Weezer and Green Day testosterone shots.

The world is filled with abient animations that add to but don't distract from the immersion very much like TDK Mediactive's Mercedes World Racing. A huge variety of tracks is here with every type of racing from scenic rural highway to city streets and dirt tracks. Stock car ovals and rally type runs round out a staggering variety.

Every type of racing is included as well. The standard duel, time attack and such is here but also challenges such as cone gates, elimination, second off, and such add more of that thing this game has in spades... VARIETY.

The total quality of this game and depth of play value make it very much worth your hard earned ducats and I would recommend it ahead of the disappointing Midnight Club II, and execrable Need For Speed Underground.

No XBOX Live online play but there is support for posting your times and scores. Minimal but welcome nonetheless. No game which doesn't support Live is getting purchased in the new year (take note EA!) by this gamer. Head to head racing is split screen for 2 players only with no support for system link. Also HDTV 480p is NOT supported. Having said that it still looks very, very nice on an HDTV LCD display. Some titles have ugly artifacting when rendered on a fixed resoultion display, such as Sega GT 2002. Custom soundtracks are supported but the original music is such a good fit I haven't felt the urge to play my usual driving tune mix of Satriani and Meshuggeh. Nothing like the annoying gangsta rap crud that fills some other recent racing games.

Despite the missing features I am very pleased by this game and have spent many, many hours in enjoyable tension racing Mustangs, Gran Torino's and T-Birds by the sea. The driving physics engine is a credit to good design. Both a simple, fun 'Normal' mode and a meatier 'Advanced' model are available. The 'Advanced' is simulation style like say, Apex or Rallisport Challenge. The Normal mode is very forgiving and plays a lot like the excellent arcade racer Burnout 2.

You just can't go wrong with this level of play value, depth and quality for this price point. I'm buying a couple more copies to give for Chritmas presents. And no, I am not an Empire Interactive stockholder. :} From now on anything developer Razorworks makes is getting bought even if it is Mary-Kate and Ashley Practice Parking. These boys just have gotten it all right. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A pretty good game overall.
    Pros:
    -fun gameplay
    -great creat a player feature
    -great graphics
    -good songs
    -great commentary

    Cons:
-franchise mode sucks!!!!(you can finish all 20 years in a day)
-no trade a player feature (you are stuck with all of the old rosters and cannot even change the lineup)

overall, this game is just okay, but I am sure that there are better games out there

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun But Easy...
I know this is kind of late to write about All-Star Baseball 2005. When it first came out back in March, I thought it would have no competion. Past ASB games had ruled the baseball video game world, and I thought this game would rock.

The first thing that is good with it is all the featurettes. The TWIB interview thing is really cool, and the whole baseball card collecting thing is great. The situations are cool and the stadium tour thing is cool. Overall, the game's features are good.

As for gameplay and graphics, that is why it is not MVP Baseball 2004. The game is way too easy. I was playing with the Mets and Danny Garcia was hitting .450. I had a winning record playing as the Pittsburgh Pirates. The only way I kept up with it was putting it on legend and taking every helper off (pitch aid, strike zone). The graphics though, it seemed that MVP has the best graphics around and this can't stack up.

The new camera modes are cool, especially the Broadcast camera; it actually looks like you are watching a real game. The fielder cam was pretty good, but if they can fix it up next year, it will rise to the top.

The most impressive thing about the game is the stadiums and the crowd detail. The stadiums looked identical to the real thing. The fake advertisements made it feel like you were at the stadium. Shea Stadium even had the ribbon around the Twin Towers on the top of the scoreboard. The old stadiums are great. If you could mash together MVP Baseball's graphics and gameplay with ASB's stadiums and franchise mode, you would have one helluva game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game.
In my eyes there has never been a good All Star Baseball game untill 05. The Franchise is very nice and so is the expansion teams. Pickup Games are very fun. The movments are very real. Xbox live is very fun. The stadiums are very very real. There is trivia between innings. I highly highly reccomend this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing
this game is too easy. the only challenge is if u put it on legend and hit without the hitter aid and strike zone besides that any moron could hit the ball.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another All-Star Baseball game
The first person view is nice, but it is almost impossible to find the baseball, or field at all. This was almost worse than it's counter=part All-Star Baseball 2004! Batting is terrible, and you have almost no control of where your pitcher throws the ball, that's usally the best part of the game. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good game. Live 05 , 04 are mush better. Not worth it
I think this game was an okay game. It will be better if they were in allstar challenge games like dunking or 3 point shootout. The graphics are pretty good. But Nba live is better because everyshot goes in in Nba inside drive and on live it doesnt so it seems more realistic.

5-0 out of 5 stars NBA Inside Drive 2004
This is the best, most realistic basketball game I have ever played. It took a little bit to get used to it, but when you do, it is incredible.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST of the Best
This game rocks!! My absolute favorite part is that you control the game. That's right: YOU!!!!!! Don't like your favorite player's rating? That's perfectly all right, because you can change the rating. There is a general manager option on the menu. Select that and go to edit/delete players. Choose anyone YOU want and change that person's rating. It's awesome!!!!! The graphics are just totally great and the only thing I don't like is that the announcers suck.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only basketball game I will play!
I was a big fan of NBA 2k series and thought that would continue when the ESPN games came out. But being that this is an xbox exclusive I went with this and I can't believe how much better this game is than all the rest! NBA Live series I never liked and ESPN just seems outdated to me. This game is not repetitive at all! My team plays like my team, the teams I play against play like that team and my players play like they should! Dunks are always different, real time coaching is a great and I love CREATE YOUR OWN PLAYER! After you create your player put him on your favorite team and play! I don't know how any Xbox owner could get NBA Live or ESPN over Inside Drive! The only downfalls of the game is defense isnt as easy to play as offense and Shaq is on the cover, other than that the best NBA game out now! GET IT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best game this year.
This game is all around great, except for a couple of flaws.
I't should have a better trade option, rookies should have been rated a little higher, speed should have been a little faster. Over all this game is graphicaly the best. Also player contact is always a plus and the post moves are awesome.NOW WE NEED NCAA INSIDE DRIVE! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Alright for $15.
It's not Need For Speed Underground 2 but what do you expect. You get what you pay for. I like that it has custom soundtracks and good graphics but the cars and trucks don't turn very good. It has 55 cars/trucks and 26 tracks. It does not have a in car dash view. The replays are fun to watch. The fact is it's a arcade racing game and if thats what you like then I recommend for you to pick it up. If you like a sim racing game then wait for Forza Motorsport that comes out in May. ...
