5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever!
This game is a lot of fun to play, but it does take a little time to figure out the maneuvers. There are scenarios to practice skills to make your player very skilled. Also you can make your character look pretty close to your own image. It is challenging and very addictive. Fun for both males and females.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods 2004

This is a message to all golfers. Tiger Woods 2004
Is the best Tiger Woods game since.... well...2003.This
game has a wide variety of golfers, courses, games, and
has awesome graphics. You can even create a character
that is just like you, or not.

Like I said, this game has awesome graphics. It seems
as if you watching golf instead of watching it. Everything
looks real, squirrels and birds look real. Most importantly
you can play as your favorite golfer, such as Tiger Woods.

It only takes about 10 seconds to load. Other games take
About 20 or 30 seconds.

The commentators say humorous stuff . They make fun
About you missing the shot. Most other sports games don't
Have commentators.

The ball drives even further than before. There is a lot of
windcarries the ball even farther.

I would recommend this game to kids 8 and older, because
Of controls.

If you want to create your own guy and win championships,
You need to get this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hall of Fame Game
Tiger Woods Pga Tour 2004 is the one of the best sports games ever made.It has tons of game modes that are all 100% fun, while also challenging the gamer. At first Tiger woods PGA Tour 2004 is hard to get used to, but after a few rounds of 18 you will be having so much fun you can't stop. The rewards you can earn are unbelievable.EA Sports definetly shot a hole in one with this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to control, no real improvements
Being a huge fan of XSN Golf for Xbox, I decided to try Tiger Woods' game because of all the rave reviews I've heard.I was so disappointed. The controls are rather difficult and hard to master.Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 is not that much different from last year's Tiger. The analog swing is unchanged, letting you control the power and direction of your shot with a back-and-forward motion on the analog stick.
One of the big new additions to Tiger Woods 2004 is the "game face" feature that allows you to create your own pro golfer with a rather painstaking level of detail. This player creation mode lets you define virtually every aspect of your player's appearance. For some idea as to how extensive it is, there are 18 different attributes that can be modified in terms of facial structure alone, not including facial hair, eye color, skin tone, and what your golfer's teeth might look like. Truly, the level of character customization offered by the game face feature is unparalleled.

The only nagging issue with the Tiger Woods games that EA has yet to address seriously is the game's soundtrack. For the past two years, EA has been assembling seemingly random collections of contemporary licensed songs and calling them soundtracks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC
Ive played so many shooters, from Rogue Spear to Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.Looking back at Unreal, I realized that this was the most fun I've ever had gaming. To be frankly honest, there were some moments when I think it was as much fun in my life doing anything.Unreal was probably the most beloved game of it's time, and due to it's age (is 5 years really that old? lol) there is an abundance of high-quality, amazingly fun mod maps online. This is a big advantage. Also, as been noted elsewhere, it can be played very easily at high settings even with an older graphics chip.As an example, I've played it at the highest graphics and sound settings (all options such as gun flashes, HUD, etc, are on) on a notebook with a Radeon 9200 and it ran flawlessly.

You can't get more fun for the buck, guaranteed.

5-0 out of 5 stars bloody awesome
I was never a fan of the shooter games (Wolfenstein, etc) until UT-GoTY. The standard maps and weapons kick [...], and the game is very fast paced and fun. But the real fun begins when playing multi-player over the web (make sure you have a T1 or higher connection) or LAN. We used to get about a dozen or more people on the LAN and mix our play between 2 or 3 team-play, or just enjoy the chaos of the free-for-alls. In particular, Space-Knox is great for 10+ people in an all-out war.

This was the first game where I really spent some time looking for unique mods out on the net. UT was one of the first games to allow users to build their own maps, weapons, characters - you name it. Like sitting on top of a tower with a sniper rifle, picking off enemies far down below? You got it. Enjoy small arena play with a couple friends and a dozen bots? You got it.

Only thing to be aware of it that this game, even with the mature taunts turned off, is still not for the wee kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Awesomeness
Unreal Tournament has to be one of top 5 games that I have ever played--you'll see what I mean.I have played Quake III, Serious Sam, Rogue Spear, Swat III, you name it--those games are basically a footnote compared to UT.In UT you can explore levels that take you from deep outer space asteriods to an underground water treatment facility to the spooky haunted house thousands of feet up--seriously the levels are that good--eye-appealing backgrounds with polished textures are the best I've seen.Meanwhile, you'll be blasting your opponents around bloody murder with any weapon of your choice--from double enforcers to the obliterating redeemer.Such weapons are equipped with special alternate fire modes, which definitely gives UT a lot of umph. The techno-rock music with its upbeat and intense rhythm tends to put a lot of the excitement into the game while your trying your darndest to blast your enemies. From Assault to Last Man Standing, you can expect to have some of your greatest battles in this game. The assault is one of my favorite modes in which you must complete objectives successfully--but it's incredibly fun to order your team to attack and just watch all the rocket launchers go off! Also, I have an NVIDIA MX/MX 400, about 3 or 4 years old and Unreal Tournament works amazingly smooth.Unreal Tournament is definitely worth your bucks, whether you played UT2003 or 2004, or even just beginning!A very addictive game indeed and probably one of the best out there!

5-0 out of 5 stars Online Blast
This is an older game but it is still the best. This is the game that ruined all other video games for me. I have been playing this game for about 2 years and I still have not tired of it. This game is best played with a high-speed internet connection because the online gamplay makes the game. Due to its easy to learn map editor, the maps to play on and the mods to play with are endless. This is a Windows game but with alot of determination and know-how it is possible to play it on the Linux operating system for better performance. The UT community has made contributions and changes to this game that make it very different from its origins. This game plays best on a 1Ghz or better processor, with a 32Mb or better video card. I now play this game exclusively! This game has a life of its own and is the game all other games wish to be. Hope to see you online.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent value
If you enjoy first-person shooters and have yet to experience the Unreal series, make sure you pick up the Unreal Tournament Game Of The Year Edition CD-ROM.This is easily one of the PC's best games.

Set in the future, the Liandri Mining Corporation sponsors a bloodthirsty tournament to determine who is the most powerful hunter in the universe.Across scores of diverse arenas - from derelict space stations to gothic cathedrals - combatants duke it out.

This 2 CD set comes packed with over 50 awesome maps, several gameplay mods, and some of the best multiplayer action available anywhere. On most modern computers, the framerate is solid. The additional OpenGL patch also enables mipmapping and other neat graphical effects. Most of the game's environments are comprised of a very low number of polygons, and yet appear extraordinarily rich and detailed.Even the music is great and quite listenable outside of the game!

Gameplay is simple with the typical WASD + Mouselook control scheme. Most of the game's weapons have dual-fire modes and some, such as the Shock Rifle, allow you to create deadly combo attacks. You'll pick up the controls in no time.

Plus, they throw in the amazingly comprehensive UnrealEd map editor so you can create your own maps! The designers of the game have clearly dedicated themselves to giving the Unreal community many tools to create new Unreal experiences. All over the Internet, there are tutorials, forums, and archives of great user-made content. From hundreds of additional maps to lengthy single-player campaigns replete with storylines, you can spend coutnless hours exploring all of the free additional content available on the Internet.

Unreal Tournament 2003 was the successor to this game and although it brought vastly improved graphics, I think that the original UT still has better gameplay and a more solid feel.Try it for yourself and see what you think.

The only real con to this game is that it takes a while to set it up properly, but this is due to the sheer amount of content that exists for it.Not only is there a patch to fix gameplay bugs, but there are also four excellent "bonus packs" of textures and maps you can download for free. The UMOD installer system, however, makes it very easy to install these and other add-ons.Simply click on the .umod file and UT will take care of the rest. When playing multiplayer, mods and maps you don't have are automatically downloaded for you.

I was a latecomer to the Unreal scene, but I instantly fell in love with this series after buying this title on impulse for ten bucks. It truly is one of the most fantastic games I've ever played, which says a lot considering I own dozens. For hours of non-stop enjoyment and entertaining, you simply cannot beat this game.Worth every penny and then some. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waist your time or money
The graphics are great.I'll give it that. But if you like to play a game where the opposing team gets an inside the park home run every time they hit a gapper then this game is for you.If a ball is hit into the gap the computer will score but you will most likely only get a double if you're lucky.I've been held to a single with a gapper and a really fast player.

The opposing team hits almost everything you can throw at them.Even the computer's pitchers get a hit at least once a game even if you make a great pitch. It doesn't matter if it's in a hot zone or a cold zone.If you pitch it, they will hit it.

Don't waist your money on this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most smooth game ever
Okay first lets start with good things. MVP baseball 2004 is awesome because ithas incredible graphics perfect stats for all players and ithas great but hard plays to make. One thing i dont understand it how does the com. make all these great plays and I make my players 50 more speed and they still are faster. That is the only thing that I disagree about this game.<br /> Sincerely, Frank

4-0 out of 5 stars A MUST OWN BASEBALL GAME FOR THE AVID FAN
I recently bought an xbox and I am a believer that if you love sports then you must have baseball.I researched 5 baseball games before I bought this one.

It took me several weeks to get used to it.You will need to do some tweaking to get the realistic play you are looking for and you can do that through options. If you are a Bonds fan then you will find out that because Bonds refused to allow his likeness in any way that he has been renamed as Jon Dowd. That is ok becuase you can edit that player and make him into Bonds, pretty cool.As I was saying before you will need to tweak the game settings a little.I was playing it straight up in the dynasty made and had the settings as balanced across the board. My pitchers couldn't hit the zone and the game was scoring like 20 runs a game. After I tweaked the game play settings I am playing alot of 1 and 3 run games. It is really dynamic and fun as well as realistic. At first I hated this game and had I wrote a review after the first week I wouldn't have anything positive to say.Now that I have taken the time to learn it and adjust the settings it isONE HELL OF A BASEBALL GAME.I love baseball and this is a must own game for your library.Take care and enjoy.Save yourself some money and buy it second hand if you can.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT. STRAIGHT UP,
if you are looking to purchase any game...this is the game to get. I LOVE eveything about this game...from the pure swing systen to the VERY realistic dystany mode with player happiness and budgets...to the unlockables that can be unlocked like old stadiums and old school players. i agree with everyone...i bought this game a while back and im still playing it whenever i can. with baseball games, they may get boring after a while. MVP...not the case. Also, i love to go through seasons but who has the time to play 162 games? on MVP there is something called manager mode...which alows you to simulate the game pitch by pitch. it only takes a few minutes. also, if ur trailing in the 9th and u dont trust the simulation to pull it out....you can go right into the game. its a GREAT addition. collecting all the MVP points to unlock old players/stadiums/and jerseys get frusterating, but just adds to the greatness of this game.

i also agreee that there are minor glitches...but i kno EA will fix those by the next game. this will be a commanding baseball game for many years, and it will become a household name like that of madden football or halo. GET THIS GAME, AND U WILL NEVER REGRET IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game with some small glitches
I have to agree with everyone else's reviews. This game is great. I've been playing it nonstop since it came out. There are a few glitches though that annoy me. They aren't enough to make me not like the game, but they are awful annoying.

1) To hard to go back on pickoffs... There are so many times when i will take a lead and i will see the computer pitcher is going to throw over. I will press the controller like 10,000 times to go back and the guy will either not dive back, or he will walk back to the base(and always get caught that way). It doesn't happen everytime, but it happens enough to get really annoying.

2) Errors.....I will rip a beautiful laser off the wall, the centerfielder will go pick up and then throw it back in. I will coast into second with a textbook stand-up double, and the announcer will say "oh and the scorer will give him an error for that one". WHAT THE ???? It happens at least once every few games, sometimes more. I will get a legitimate hit, one without a fielder even anywhere near it, and it will be ruled an error. That hurts my players batting average, and annoys the heck out of me.

Those two small glitches aside, this is a great game. I really enjoy it and agree that it is the best platform out right now... ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Online doesn't salvage...
This game picks up, control-wise, where the last one left off, "Deadly Alliance." I actually like "Deadly Alliance" a lot, and still play it (AND kept it), but this one is a little too "tweaked." The new 3D philosophy for the programmers was good last time, but this time it just doesn't work. They made jumping a lot slower, as well as movements, perhaps to create more realism, but it completely changes the gameplay and calls for a whole new format on things. One way to illustrate the amount of change needed for the new slower game is the fact that Scorpion has fewer moves. His swordswipe is gone, which was an awesome and easy to use move. Gone. So, a slower game, and the characters move slower in every way. When you get hit with Sub's ice, you slowly take the frozen stance. Every match just drags. As well, the characters are now huge, and for them to move so slowly is mind-numbingly annoying. It's too bad that they held back online until this. The last one would've been perfect. Although this new one has interactive environments, that just makes it a very complicated, slow-moving, ill-controlled mess. There's also chess and other featurette games, but these, again, do no compensate. If you look at it, it almost seems that they were paying too much attention to outer details, and failed to remember gameplay. It's obscure, but believe me, there is mondo difference between this and "Deadly Alliance." The hits on this one, too, are a little off, so that hollow feel is very present. The only thing I don't regret is that I got a copy of part 1, the original, in an "exact" port from its arcade self.

5-0 out of 5 stars Engrossing!!
When I first got this I just had to pop in the arcade perfect port of the original Mortal Kombat. They did a fantastic job.All the little glitches that were prevalent in the arcade are also here. Now onto the main game Deception.I found most of the moves less complicated then in Deadly Alliance.Fatalities are especially gruesome and stage fatalities are creative and a blessing to have back in the game. The graphics are really outstanding, similiar to DA, but just more evil surroundings, in this game kinda brings back the day when Mortal Kombat was evil.Unlocking characters, arenas etc.. are done through purchasing them from the Krypt again, however you must play through Konquest mode. This mode is addicting, as you follow a young warrior name Shujinko through various realms, completing tasks and getting coins and keys to open up the coffins in the Krypt.People are slagging the graphics and I really found the graphics to be excellent. Some people just are haters just for the sake of it, don't listen to them.I actually cared about the character I played as and the story is great. After completing the mode, you most likely did not get everything, or complete the numerous tasks.Don't fret, you can go back to the realms and complete the tasks, or just beat up on people if you so desire.I cannot stress to you how awesome Konquest mode is, plus you learn the moves of the various fighters...it can be frustrating at times, but nonetheless it's a great challenge.

Another mode is the puzzle fighter game.Remember the fantastic Super Puzzle Fighter II from the ps-one?Well this is basically the same game, but w/MK flava. You can do fatalities in here too, but are way easier, you only press one button.Geez there are so many fatalities in Deception, that it will literally take you weeks to see them all/perform them.Puzzle fighter is also very addicting, and you can pick from 12 characters, and they have bobble heads, cute and funny, but the brutality of MK is always there. The last mode is the chess part, which I still have not gotten to yet..Konquest mode has basically taken over my life so there is not alot of time..but from what I understand it is also great. These modes also add some much needed depth to the fighting genre. But, as a stand alone fighter, Deception is as close to perfection as you can possibly come.Get the Kollector's edition so you can have the original MK in all its glory.Deception rules!!!Just a word of caution to parents..don't be stupid and purchase this game for your young child, even though it's the christmas season, please. The game is too violent and even though you can turn the blood off it's rated Mature for a reason. Also seeing hot female Mortal Kombat fighters have their voluptuous bosooms jiggle all over the place is not for youngsters.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good investment
Awesome gameplay, if anything, pick this up just for the original mortal kombat.

Parents and Politicians Beware The New Mortal Kombat Game IsHere

The latest incarnation in the ongoing Mortal Kombat series returns once again with a slew of new additions to an already excellent franchise which is sure to keep fans and newcomers coming back for more.
With the series first arriving in the arcades back in 1992, Mortal Kombat quickly became one of the most controversial and to the dismay of parents and senators everywhere, most successful selling game of all time. The series, which spawned a total of five top selling installments and two movies, returns once again to wreak havoc upon the home console world with versions for both Playstation 2 and Xbox.
Mortal Kombat Deception starts off right where 2002's Deadly Alliance left off, we learned that bad guys Shang Tsung and Quan Chi were successful in defeating all of the earth realm combatants except for the thunder god Raiden.Raiden unfortunately is unable to take on both of the sorcerers and is defeated. However, Shang Tsung's and Quan Chi's victory would be short-lived when they immediately turn on each other. To make matters worse a new villain known as the Dragon King returns to claim what was taken from him.So once again gamers must resume the roles of a number of different fighters with different abilities to defeat a foe more menacing than the first.
As far as the game's graphics go they're almost exactly the same as the last game, which isn't a bad thing.Deception is a very polished looking game although it still doesn't compare to the graphic detail found in other fight games such as in Tekken 4 or Dead or Alive 3.The game's audio is also the usual oriental and rock mix that has permeated through all of the games which has always worked well for the series.
In the game's arcade mode players can choose from a total of twenty-four characters to fight their way up through the ranks in order to take on the big bad guy at the top.Fans of the previous games will be glad to see old school characters such as Sub-Zero, Kabal, Ermac, Scorpion, and Nightwolf, to name a few, have returned for another round; with many more old and new characters locked away in the game until gamers unlock them. The returning characters have retained all of their beloved special moves with a few new ones, as well as two new fatalities and new suicide move called the Hari-kari.
For newcomers one of the Mortal Kombat series hallmarks is the gruesome finishing moves known as fatalities where the winner of the match can dispose of their opponent in a number of gory and gruesome manners such as tearing off their arms or legs and clubbing the loser to death with them.Nice, I know.A nice new touch to the game is the Hari-kari moves in which defeated opponents can now finish themselves off before the victor does, this adds some funny and over the top gory deaths which robs your opponent of the satisfaction of getting to perform a fatalities on you. As for the fatalities in this game they are by far the goriest, over the top and best of the series yet, which was something that was seriously lacking in the last game.
Perhaps the biggest change to the game play is the addition of Death Traps that are placed in certain arenas. These death traps consist of stone grinders, molten lava pits, and other assorted nasty death devices, which will kill any player instantly if, knocked into, ending the round. This new addition to the game play is both a plus and a minus. On the one hand these traps will make players play more strategically than they normal would have, paying close attention to not only their opponent but also the surrounding environment. However, since it's fairly easy to knock anyone into them, the death traps can become rather cheap when a player constantly uses them for an easy win.Thankfully they can be shut off in the option menu. The arenas that house these traps are also multi-level arenas meaning in order to take advantage of the traps a player must first be knocked into the area where the trap is located. An example of this would be the Slaughter House arena where a player can be knocked through the floor only to continue fighting below but now there's a chance any player could be thrown into the large rotating meat grinder in the corner of this lower level.
The addition of combo breakers is also another smart addition to the game, which really brings balance to the game's fighting system. In the previous games players who had mastered the ability to string together attacks could really deliver massively damaging combos, which resulted in beginning players being at a serious disadvantage as their fighter got annihilated round after round. With the combo breakers any player can now halt any string of attacks instead of taking a massive beating, however each player is only allowed three combo breakers per a match.Players now have to play conservatively choosing when the best time to break a combo would be most effective during the match.
Besides the normal combat mode, Deception also includes a number of extras that are really like new games.First up is what is called Khess Kombat, which is a spin on the game of chess with Mortal Kombat characters and other interesting twists, including magic spells and fighting matches to determine which player take the chess piece. Then there's Puzzle Kombat, which is a hybrid version of the classic Tetris game.In Puzzle Kombat players select miniature Kombat characters and play a Tetris like game while the little miniature fighters duke it out below your game window. In true Mortal Kombat fashion both puzzle games have a set of fatalities to go with them. Both games are highly addicting and can be played with one to two players or online.
The weakest aspect of Deception, though, is the new Konquest mode, and yes that's spelled with a "k" too.In Konquest mode you assume the role of Shujinko, a young warrior who is on a quest to recover certain mystical artifacts from different worlds of the game.Along the way you'll run across characters from the game that will either assist you or need a favor from you, such as finding Scorpion's missing ninja comrade. This mode becomes tedious rather fast when you must travel and fetch certain items from one location to the next, only to go back again and again.Unfortunately, players will have to play through this mode if they wish to unlock all of the game's content, such as hidden characters and arenas, which is really the only reason why anyone would. This mode also seems like the least polished of all, with horrible voice acting, a predictable storyline and a poor graphic interface. On a more positive note, this mode will teach newcomers the basics to advanced game techniques they'll need in order to compete against other players at home or online.Maybe the developers will work out these issues with the next game.
But perhaps the best reason to pick up the new Mortal Kombat game is just for the online competition. Both the Playstation 2 and the Xbox support online gaming for the standard Arcade mode, Khess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat so you'll always be able to find some kind of competition to play against once your friends get sick of losing to you every turn.
All in all though Mortal Kombat Deception is an excellent game that has enough going for it to please just about any fighting game fan.Whether you're a Mortal Kombat nut or just someone looking for a good, solid fighting game Deception really delivers on multiple levels. However, gamers that are a bit squeamish should probably stay away, Deception is definitely a violent and gory game that should be played by mature players only.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one Deception you want to get caught in...
How do you take a series that many had thought was gasping for its last breath and suddenly jumpstart it back to being a powerhouse?Just ask the makers of Mortal Kombat. The series was about to be pretty much history after the release of MK4 and a series of, well, horrid spinoff games. Then in 2002 the release of MK:Deadly Alliance proved that there was still life in the brutal game yet, and then some.

Now, less than 2 years later, the MK gang is back for the sequel to Deadly Alliance, MK:Deception.Of course the obvious question gamers ask is does Deception give more than what they got in Deadly Alliance? In reference to both the regular $50 edition and the special Kollectors Edition/Premium Pack (just $10 more), the answer is "Oh YEAH!"

Deception takes place almost immediately after the events of Deadly Alliance. The fighters from Earthrealm are severly decimated by the combined power of foes Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, leaving only Raiden as the last man (or god, as the case may be)standing.Raiden holds his own admirably against the duo but soon falls at their hands.WIth all they need to rule, they resurrect an army of the dead and then surprisingly (or unsurprisingly)turn on each other faster than a "Survivor" castaway, but fail to realize that raising the army also resurrected their true leader, a Dragon King known as Onaga.

Realizing this, Shang and Quan realign to take down Onaga, but fail miserably.Raiden revives quickly to join the duo and finds that even two powerful wizards and a thunder god can't stop Onaga.Raiden decides to create a massive lightning blast to destroy Onaga (and them with it), but Onaga shakes it off and begins to make a move towards ruling the realms. There is one person with the power to put Onaga down for good, but who...?

This story leads into the massively expanded (and more fun) Konquest mode of Deception. As Shujinko, you progress through the game, meeting up with fighters from several different realms including a few familiar faces from past MK games making a welcome return to the game (and one who you would NEVER think would make a return...I won't spoil it for you)and collecting a series of symbols known as Kamidogu.

Several new modes are available in Deception, including Chess Kombat (this is definitely a fun way to play for experienced players and newbies alike), Puzzle Kombat (Imagine Tetris for the MK player), a streamlined but still expansive Krypt (keep your eyes open as some classic MK characters are running around down there), Online play (THANK YOU GOD!!!), 2 Fatalities for each character and a Hari-Kiri (suicide), interactive environmental fatalities, the familiar classic Kombat mode, and more.

But with the KE/PP you get the addition of an "arcade-perfect" version of MK1, a metal trading card, and video that shows and reveals the massive history behind this legendary game.

Without a doubt, Mortal Kombat has definitely both revived and reinvented itself thanks to Deadly Alliance and now Deception. This is definitely one Deception that you want to be involved in. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Explanation for why names aren't there
For the same reason when you buy an NCAA jersey, it doesn't have a name on the back...

The NCAA can't directly market a single player. Yes, the networks can, ala ESPN showing a little JJ Reddick picture before a Duke/UNC game. Or CBS showing Marvin Williams taking an alley-oop from Raymond Felton for the Final Four.

However, they can't pay these athletes so they can't directly market them. That's one reason why it's damn near impossible to see a college star marketing anything that isn't the NCAA and academics.

It's why Andrew Bogut or Reggie Bush can't do Wheaties commercials.

It's also the reason anyone on a 2K5 of EA Sports college sporting game-over has either graduated or in the NBA from the next year. (I know NCAA 2K has rights with the Heisman winner. As EA once did. Last year's Naismith winner, Jamar Nelson of St. Joe's, is absent from either of this year's games that feature Okafor (EA) and Childress (2K5) on their respective covers).

However, if Emeka Okafor had stayed in school, it's very likely Ben Gordon (or another NBA-player, ala Tony Allen, would've been on the cover.

Imagine the same scenario with TJ Ford replacing Carmelo Anthony on 2004.

Most know this...but many others don't. So that is your answer. It's not to be lame or lazy, it's simply the fact that NCAA can only use player numbers and their likeness (within reason of course) during their games. I imagine any potential recruits are forgotten as well for same laws/reasons.

It seems dumb, but that's the NCAA for you.

Making billions for universities, networks, and themselves...and not letting the players have anything at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars great game
ncaa march madness was a great game, who cares if you dont know who the players are you can pull off upsets in the collage classics mode and win the tornament in the dynasty mode. It is a great basketball game to play with your friends and it is very entertaining by yourself

1-0 out of 5 stars Why EA, why!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (from A-Hay in Memphis)
I like EA Sports, I got this game NCAA March Madness 2005, it's fun but what really got me was when I "PAID" $49.99 and cant export your college players to NBA Live, that mess up. Why they go and put the player number, but not the name with it. They otta put the player piture on there too. If they can make over 1000 right fight songs and the real mascot, why not the player name and the piture, Lucky I didnt tear the plastic, now I can put it back in there, and get my money back and go get NBA 2K5 since I got NCAA 2K5.

2-0 out of 5 stars March Flawness
I was expecting a lot more out of this game. Even after writing to EA Sports, informing them what they needed to do to make this game better, the game still lacks what it could be, or should I say what their competitor does just right?

March Madness 2005 has somewhat improved from 2004, but it still has ways to go (time for a new game engine, don't you think?). First of all, I like the new play-calling screens, that can easily be opened and operated; and I like the new time out feature as well. The Pontiac classic game challenge is very fun, too! The front menu screens are much better and readable, and the Dynasty mode is better than last year's with a neat calendar and PDA system.

But overall, the game has got to be a major disappointment for die-hard basketball fans. One thing this year is that the game player cannot export their draft classes into NBA Live. The game play is comparable to NBA Live 2005, with has better spacing, rebounding, and tip-ins. The player models are better as well, but not a significant change from MM 2004. As far as comparing this to ESPN'S College sim, which sells for just $20, there is no comparison. ESPN has much better game play and a more intuitive player-editing system than EA's. But if there is one complaint I have this year for both NBA Live and March Madness, it is the awful camera views. When you are playing a game you are either too far away or too close. And for some reason, the game does not recognize your previous setting of camera views, so you have to go back and change it. If EA would stop trying to add so much as the kitchen sink to a game and instead try to really improve the basics, it would really shine.

Until then, ESPN'S game is the way to go this season!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good game, but major flaw
All in all this is a good game, except for the fact that the A.I has no defence skilz, every time u controll the ball u are able to drive, i scored 89 points, 80 of them were by driving. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but Flawed
If you have hours to kill or don't care if you are about to break up with your spouse who just doesn't understand the gamers psyche, then Day of Defeat is the game for you.

From the wonderful people that brought you Counter Strike comes an online multiplayer set in the middle of World War Two. You can play as either a Americana, British or German, using authentic weapons. The missions are simply-as fallows-capture the flag, capture a building or blow up a building, capture a land mark or blow up a land mark, and defend against the said objectives.

However some of the faults come down to the accuracy of the weapons and how much damage they do. On multiple occasions I've empty my weapon at an opponent at point blank range and MISS because the recoil is heavy exaggerated, casing my weapon to fly up into the ceiling. It is like this with ALL of the submachine guns and assault rifles, even worse is that they do all the same amount of damage! A BAR dose the same about of damage as a MP40.It takes a third of your ammo capacity to kill them and that's if your at their head. I empty my STG-44 at an ally troop, hitting him with every shot, and he kills me with a single shot from his pistol, or knifes me to death! The only weapons that do any damage are the rifles and stationary machine guns.

This game is fun, but it can be incredible frustrating at times

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun WW2 arena game!!!!!!!!!
Day of Defeat is a great game. One of the best Half Life mods out there, possiably thee best! Realistic weapons and game play is simple and fun. You'll have hours and hours of fun with this game, the kind of fun where hours go by and feel like minutes.

5-0 out of 5 stars MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME
WARNING: ONLY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. This is my most played fav. game of all time. I know I will never find a better online mutiplayer war game for $20. I can play this for 24 hours a day if i wanted too. I got this game more then a year ago and I really never got bored of it. Although I kind of got bored with the same gameplay/maps after about 500 hrs. of play, I found better servers, and maps.

The maps range from Anzio, Kalt, Omaha Beach(awesome map), Sterm, Bunkerhill, Merderet, and much much more. There some of the regular maps from the start. You can then play really fun maps such as Legoland(made out of legos), 5 different Mario maps, Ship Fight maps, island maps, sea maps, and much more. There is even a server where you fight a bunch of zombie bots with 2000 health each and never stop coming.

The weapon choices are great even though there arent that many, but youll never get tired of using them. You can use rifles, machine guns, shovels, knives, grenades, mortars, bazookas, and mg's.

EVERY server is also great. If you find a awesome server/clan get into the clan and take on other teams in head-to-head competition to see who has the best clan. You can only fit 2-32 people on one server, which is good because then the servers are never laggy while your playing.

OVERALL:10/10
I think I could play this game for a very very long time before i finally get bored with it all. You will always be satisfied with this game every time you play it. For $20 your getting a lot.

GREAT GRAPHICS, GAMEPLAY, WEAPONS, MAPS, and SERVERS.
MY fav. and most played game of 2003 and 2004.

5-0 out of 5 stars Day of Defeat = Best WWII Multiplayer Game
Day of Defeat is by far one of the most realistic war games (Rougue Spear is close as well) I have ever played. You should ignore any review that compares this to Counter-Strike, especially on the basis of realism because these two games are COMPLETELY different.Counter-Strike's "realism" consists of snipers running around and jumping while looking through scopes and firing accurately. Also accurately firing AK-47s from the hip on full automatic mode while running around.Counter-Strike, realistic?HARDLY.In Counter-Strike, kills = victory.Sure, there are objectives that are usually ignored because players want to improve their stats instead of complete objectives. This isn't an attack on CS, but I need to say this to separate the two mods.

Sure, CS can be fun and all but it's usually just a round based deathmatch.Day of Defeat is completely different. In DOD, kills don't mean anything if you don't complete the objective because killing isn't the objective. The pathetic excuse for realism CS boasts is far surpassed by DOD.Sure, you can run around firing full automatic, but you your chances of hitting anything you'd want to hit are slim.In reality, accuracy comes from firing while standing still.Snipers aren't ridiculously powerful in DOD as AWP fanatics are in CS.Each class has a niche on the battlefield, and while snipers are quite dangerous at a distance, a rifleman or a soldier equipped with a submachine gun can easily butcher any snipers within range.I'm also pleased by the fact you can be a rifleman without being at a huge disadvantage like you would be in Battlefield 1942 or Medal of Honor. And rocket launchers are not ridiculous like Medal of Honor.Unlike Medal of Honor, they actually serve a purpose and aren't as cheap. You can't wander the map blowing people away while on the move. No, you have to shoulder the launcher to be able to fire, then your movement speed is greatly reduced.Even when you fire, your blast radius isn't as large.

So comparing CS to DOD is unfair becaue they are two completely different things. If you like realism, you'll most likely like this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars posibly the best WW II FPS game!
I only have a few things to say about this game because the other reviews have basicly covered everything. I just want to explain "WHY" DoD is a better "GAME" than Medal of Honor. I stress the word 'game' for a reason! I`ve been playing MOH and DoD for some time now and i`ve come to the conclusion that MOH is a alot of fun to play and very addictive and is probably more fun to play than DoD but DoD`s capture the flags mode is what makes it a better "game" than MOH. in DoD their is a tremendous amount of jockying for position on the map that goes on in this game. while MOH is a big time frag fest, DoD is more of a TACTICAL game and it simply shows us that fragging is not the only thing that can make a game fun!

capturing five flags located in different area`s of the map is the goal. its not how many kills you get like in MOH, its the team that captures all the flags wins. and you don`t move the flags, they stay in their position and when one team captures the flag, the flag itself changes color. this is what causes alot of jockying for position on the map and more importanly TEAMWORK! someone has to defend the flag while others go out and try to capture the other flags. like in a real battle, their is an attacker and a defender and its all about capturing land. DoD has this element of war down to a T. and some flags require more than one person on your team to capture it.

if MOH had DoD`s capture the flag mode it would be a MUCH MUCH better game! and I would still be interested in the series but DoD is simply a better "GAME" and in the end, i will only play the game that is more strategic, and thats DoD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
This game is awesome.I don't know what some other people are complaining about.I've been playing sports games since most of the readers of this article were just a twinkle in their daddy's eyes, and this one is honestly the funniest I've ever played.Dave Attel (from Comedy Central's "Insomniac") has got to be the perfect choice for the low-brow humor this game has to offer, as long as you're old enough (and smart enough) to get the jokes!Anyone who's played sports video games long enough knows that the commentating on EVERY game gets tiresome after you've heard it a million times, and this one is no different. This game definitely caters more towards guys in their twenties who like to get wasted, talk trash, and play video games (every frat should have a copy). On a scale of 1-10, the graphics are at least an 8 (the girls might not be real, but I'm from California, so we're used to that.), the gameplay scores about an 8 as well (easy to learn, difficult to master), and the multiplayer scores a 7 in my book (some of the play modes are not available for multiplayer). The only major drawback of the game is really the load times, which are often quite long.But...if you happen to be male, over 18, IQ over 100, have friends, enjoy sports, and in the market for a new game, buy this one.People pay OVER $60 A YEAR to play sports games like Madden NFL, don't you think it's about time we stop being so nitpicky about decent games that only cost $20 and consider the overall value?

3-0 out of 5 stars Definitley Not like 1
Well this isnt like the First outlaw golf...There are good points to it..the new characters, outfits, and even a few of the new courses..Although some of the courses are really bad and difficult. The worst part of Outlaw golf 2 overall has to be the announcer or commetar...what is up with that idiot...No where near funny like the first one and the lines are so over done many times.it is some what fun if you take the talking out and get use to the courses..rent it first if you can then decide to buy it..I was disappointed

4-0 out of 5 stars To players of Outlaw Golf 1
This game have many advantages to the original Outlaw Golf, but don't expect it to be too much of an improvement. The first thing that struck me is that it isn't nearly as funny as the first game. The announcer has no comedic timing, is very bland, and I ended up turning him off after a few minutes.Few of the characters themselves have the same personality in their voice acting as before, and the player reactions that actually have them talking are few in far between.About 2/3 of the player reactions are the same for each character of the same sex. Many just have them taking the ball out of the hole and waving to the crowd.

Outside of this disappointment, it's still a very good game. Some mechanics have been changed, but the overall feel of the gameplay is the same.Playing the courses are fun, and there are 2-3 times as many holes to play than before. There are more costumes and players to choose from, but there's not much difference between them with such bland voice acting. There are many more challenges, and they're much more creative. My favorite involves hitting explosive balls into a field full of cows to see how many you can knock down.

All in all, it's a fun game to play. It's just that all the humor that made the first one great is missing in this sequel.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outlaw Golf is back!
Outlaw Golf 2 is even better then the first. This game is the best thing you can pick up besides Halo 2.
The graphics in this game flat out rock. The golfing is the best out there. And the soundtrack is just awsome.
From the very get go this game will have you laughing and crying.
The carictors are some of the funnyest out there. Each line and cut seen are worth every penny you pay for it.
And the gaming is full out par. Each stroke you make can be the best,But just a slight hickup in it can send your ball flying.
To put it bluntly this game is so worth the twenty bucks you will pay for it.Don't wait pick it up today.
And get ready to start hacking your way out of the rough. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good addicting "Bejeweled reminscent fun" for 20 bucks!
Gamers that like Tetris, Columns, Bejeweled, Collapse, you will love Ultra Bust A move and there have not been games like this on XBOX, the simple premise will keep you happy for a long time.

Ultra Bust A Move is somewhat like Bejeweled only this time your shooting the jewels from a cannon to line them up and requires targeting to line them up and make them disappear. It's very difficult to describe but the simplicity of it, no matter how you look at it, is very addicting. The strategy of lining up colored jewels and targeting them exactly where you want them to go, it's the perfect game for your mother or young child to play. It's very easy to get into and advanced gamers will appreciate the harder levels as you progress. The online part of it is basic enough, you just go at it one on one with another player and try to beat his score on a split screen, basic, yes, fun, I think so!

The graphics are good for what the game is, very colorful and bright but some of the levels may hurt your eyes after awhile, don't play this in the dark, you might want too see an eye doctor after. Very cheesy music and custom soundtracks would have been wonderful, but we didn't get that option, sigh. Because the music intact is downright awful.

Overall, for 19 bucks, I was happy. It's good fun. Just hope you have sunglasses. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Build Armies and defeat your enemies
Warcraft Two is a strategy and battle game. Not turn based, timing is of the essence in gameplay, building your farms, barracks, training soldiers and pesants to mine gold and chop lumber faster than your enemy in order to build your armies defeat the enemy.

However, I've found that computer opponents tend to be predictable, and so easy to beat.I've become practiced at playing the same scenario with one, two, three, four, and even five opponents.Because the computer generated opponents are fairly simple, they don't have much sense, and will get "stuck" at an obstacle, or rush blindly into traps.Still, with enough opponents the custom scenarios can be challenging and have you scrambling to keep up production of soldiers, catapults, dragons or gryphon flying fighters, and building walls of farms and cannon towers in defense of the onslaught.

Depending on wether or not you're playing as Orc or Human there are a few slightly different ways the individual charachters move or fight, and there are some entertaning speech recordings on all the charachters, just keep clicking them and they'll react with annoyance, or seasickness, or the secret of the sheep flock!

A classic game, and one which is still fun to play, and is often much more reasonable in price than many of the newer games out on the market today.Watch out when using cheat codes, as many of them will give the same benefit to your enemy as they do to you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a basketball game
even though i have not yet played this game, i can tell that it is about basketball.just look at the title for crying out loud.basketball is a game about hoops and nets. yea, even tall men and teams that compete to score and win.it's a game of dunks and slams, of rebounds and assists, of free-throws and 3-pointers.yes, this is a basketball game that is cheap.it is inexpensive. and besides that it doesn't cost very much.buy now a game whose graphics far outdo the other meager games of its kind.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is a piece of garbage! (x2)
[...].I could go on and on about the dumb points of this game but I'll just give you the basics.

1.The number 1 reason I hate this game is because you can never hold a lead.If you ever get a lead, no matter how large, the computer will always come back, making these ridiculous shots along the way. Then, when the computer gets the lead back, it goes back to normal and they actually start missing shots again. But never fear because if you work a comeback even in the last seconds of the game, the computer will always almost always beat you.

2.Your team almost NEVER gets a rebound.Sometimes the computer will shoot, rebound, shoot, rebound, etc. three times before they finally get it in.

3.You have no defense.Even if you anticipate the computer's shot and jump to block it, the shooter will shoot the ball right through your guy's hands. This game disgusts me.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME NO MATTER WHAT!!ITS NOT EVEN WORTH A CENT, MUCH LESS $20.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is a piece of garbage!!!
This is the worst basketball game I've played in years. For one they have no season mode, just the association which is pretty stupid because you can only control one team and it is pretty pointless. Everytime you leave a guy opened for three he'll make it which doesn't happen in real life and I left Shaq open for 4 threes and he made all of them, pretty unrealistic. Everytime I tried to dunk it gets blocked or I miss it. Almost everytime I have the lead with a couple of minutes to go the CPU makes every shot to take the lead and win the game or sometimes i have to make buzzer beaters to win. When i contest a player for three they just put up a prayer and make it. That makes me furious. This game is just horrible and it is in my trash so the garbage men can brake the stupid game.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great game!
This is a great video game why you can change players and their stats, and the introduction at games are just like the original way a basketball game is suppose to be like. It would have been even better if they had the starting lineups just like in NBA 2K2. I reccomend others to play this video game.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!
I love this game alot cuz it looks like you're watching the game. On season mode I thought it was preseason but it wasn't I was VS The Sacrmento Kings and I lost by 6 in overtime so i was 0-1. The only thing I don't like about it is there's no halftime shows. My brother hates this game and he never even played! It's because there's no halftime show but if there were he'd like it alittle! BUY IT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Remake
This game is at least 3 stars if you don't own any of the Tony Hauk games. This game is exactly the same except that you're
on a snowboard and going down hill. I would not rcomend getting this game if you have ever played Tony Hauk and didn't like it.
The game objective is the same as Tony Hauk. It's pretty much a remake.

5-0 out of 5 stars That was fat!
Everything a snowboarder could wish for in the offseason.
If your little brother brings over his friend who still needs to learn about the order of the birds and the bees, and, lets say he customizes his boarders apparel to look a little on the fruity side, then the cameramen will not hisitate to express exactly what is going through your head, so you don't have to go through the effort of saying it yourself.I won't mention exactly what they say, but it starts whith "Qu" and ends with "eer!"
Really hard to advance, but the bragging rights are worth it.Also, there's a video of Australian pro Tora Bright. She's kinda cute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Snowboarding Game!
I played this on my friends Xbox and at first I was like man he bought a snowboarding game, but in fact this game is awesome. It pretty much has it all and can be very hard and you have to stick certain things or go all out. It can really get irritating on pro and photoshot challenges towards the end of the career but it just makes you that much better or very lucky. Oh yeah in his game, maybe all, there is quite a few glitches, like starting a pro challenge and just falling backwards and falling into a cliff and be stuck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amped 2
Okay, I have done real snowboarding & played Amped 2 & I can tell you that this IS a realistic simulation, In snowboarding, you really DO gain speed that fast, you really DO get that much air off ramps & you ARE able to pull off a 360 on the flat, the only unrealistic aspects of the game for me were the sparks when you grinded a rail and the way your character slows down. the levels are huge with short loading times, the variety of tricks for an Extreme sport's title is second only to the Tony Hawk Titles. you wont get bored in a hurry, buy this game NOW!

Australia does have snow if anyone think's I'm lying about snowboarding

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty cool
I'm not usually a fan of sports-type games, but Amped 2 was pretty good. I like the fact that you don't have to play as any particular person. You get to pick from several base characters, male/female, black/white, etc. and then choose what types of clothes, goggles, gloves, boards, etc. you want you character to have. The game gives you a freedom to explore massive parts of mountains and just mess around, but you'll have to unlock different mountains in campaign mode. Campaign mode is pretty cool though: for each mountain you have to complete certain tricks, beat certain high scores, take a few photoshoots, etc. which are challenging at times but usually pretty fun. ... Amazon.com Review

Orcs and humans have waged fierce battles across the scarred earth of Azeroth for many moons, with never an end in sight. In a move sure to make peons whimper and paladins pray, Blizzard is extending the carnage with WarCraft II: Battle.Net Edition.

Given WarCraftII's status and dedicated fan base, it's no surprise that the single-player game is untouched. The excellent Beyond the Dark Portal expansion set is included with the original Tides of Darkness, creating four campaigns and 70 missions that remain fun despite their age. The Orc and Human armies obviously have nearly identical strengths and weaknesses, but as in the past, the art and sound cues make them feel worlds apart.

The real selling point is the vastly improved multiplayer experience. Aligning WarCraft II with Blizzard's other titles, more than one hundred multiplayer maps now let you take the struggle for Azeroth to the free "battle.net" service. Setting up games is simple enough for an Orc to figure out, and you can play against (or with) up to eight human or computer opponents. No AI can match the challenge of a human player's unpredictability, and thanks to the worldwide ladder, you can fight tooth and claw for rank against players spanning the globe. --Jack Gardiner ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of my all time favorite RTS games ever
Although Warcraft 3 and its expansion have come out within the last few years, I still prefer Warcraft 2 a bit more. Yes the game looks kinda dated now, but it is still a blast to play. The game was fun in that it never got too complicated or anything so that newcomers could always have a good time. The map editor was easy to use and the online play in the Battle.net edition will keep you busy for a while. Anyways, if you've only played Warcraft 3 then it might be difficult for you to enjoy this game since it is so old, but if your willing to look past the graphics then you'll find a real gem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oops
Great game.It looks like amazon actually posted a screenshot of warcraft I: Orcs and Humans, instead of a picture from this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Aging but still good
This game has definitely been around for awhile, but there's a reason it's still played. It's fun!The interface is easy to use, and the 'tech tree' aspect is fairly simple so that even people who haven't played other rts games should have to trouble learning it.

There are a couple of downsides to this game, though in my opinion they aren't much of an issue. One is of course that the graphics are definitely aging and nothing spectacular. It's nice to be able to quickly recognize your units so that you can make the best use of them (high detail can get in the way of that) but don't expect the graphics to wow you. Also, this game runs on a 2D engine, rather than the 3D engine that more recent games are using.

Secondly is that I wasn't incredibly impressed by the campaigns. They tend to get a little repetitive, so most of the time I find myself just playing a custom game.

Another similar game I might recommend instead of this one would be Starcraft. The graphics are slightly better, and the game is just as interesting. Then of course there is Warcraft III out now, which has a 3D engine and a couple of additional races besides human and orc.Aside from the things I mentioned, this game really is very good.I've been playing it for years and haven't gotten tired of it yet!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Ever- period!
Warcraft2 is an awesome game that has been around a lomg time...a classic. While some say that its graphics are aging, I love the undetailed, squat Orcs, among other things. Welcme to the World of Warcraft!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars RTS legend.
This game is the first RTS game that I have played along with Starcraft and Lords of the Realm 2. But Lords of the Realm 2 (Starcraft is a whole diffrent stoty) didn't have what Warcraft had. The easy to get used to gameplay with great graphics in terms of running smooth, the very low system requirement, and the satisfaction of the Battle.net. I have not played this game since 2000 (Because my dad broke my CD. Read my Starcraft Battle Chest review.) so I don't know if anyone plays online now but all I know is that I had the most fun playing this game back in 2000. I remember the satisfaction that I had with my friends after beating the opponent with my ogres and the dragons. This game ran fine when I used to have Intel Celeron 400MHZ, 64mb ram, and 56k modem. So if you get this game right now, you shouldn't have any technical problems. Also this game is very easy to get used to with easy gameplay and great graphics for an outdated game. This game is definitly a must have if you are a RTS fan. You should know that Warcraft started it all. It started the great RTS gaming genre. ... Read more
