4-0 out of 5 stars mostly response to the xbox 360 fanboy
to make this relevant: i own the orig ps2 and love it, so therefore i would love gameplay on this. as for the differences i understand that there are technical issues but for peopl elike some of my dorm friends who only play casually and value space this is perfect (they love it).

to the xbox 360 kid review: honestly, get your facts straight before spouting nonsense like that. i wont touch the tech aspects (such as the different TYPES of ram involved in both units, the amount of vram, the teraflops they can poop out, floating point numbers, or any of that). what i will talk about is your talk of gameplay. it is true that square is departing from the ps. oh no, ffxi is coming to xbox! scary. oh wait no it's not. k i'm being a jerk, yes it's true that the games aren't going to be exclusive to ps3. however, I've got two words for you, and this is a HUGE deal in console wars: backwards compatibility. and before you spout of "the 360 is backwards compatible" it's only partially backwards compatible. on top of that the playstation line has a far larger game library to draw from.

i'm not claiming one's gonig to be better than the other, but i'm defending the ps line before people just write it off when the xbox 360 comes out this year.

and as the previous poster said, ign does NOT claim that the xbox 360 is far superior.

and also the ps2 slim is nice if you're only casually using it and need the space/decor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Should Have Been Free!!
Sony thinks that they can make up for the PS2s short-comings by releasing a new one right before the next-gen consoles are released?! This should have been exchanged for all of the old PS2s cause they break the DAY after the warranty finishes. Sony has lost yet another customer. Save your cash for the Xbox 360.

1-0 out of 5 stars Original PlayStation 2 is better
Don't buy this, the original PlayStation 2 is better than the new design.

5-0 out of 5 stars In response to "a kids review"
this "kids review" stated that ign.com said the 360 was more powerfull overall.they said nothing of the sort.in fact, with only number to go off of, ign was reluctant to call a winner.

however, if tech specs are all we have, then the PS3 is clearly the winner.pushing 2 teraflops, it's twice as fast as the 360, and boasts a GPU twice as powerful as the top-of-the-line NVIDIA GPU on the market today that usually run about $500 apiece.this does NOT mean that the PS3 will cost $1000 dollars (that would be ludicrous), but it DOES mean that it's graphics prowess will be unmatched.combine that with dual RAM of 256 each, plus a 7xCell processor (that's 7 microprocessors in one chip!) verses 360's 3 core chip, and you can start to see the advantages.add bluetooth wireless controllers (7!) and it's clearly the winner.

    5-0 out of 5 stars XBXO 1.5 vs. PS2

I don't even know if the XBOX 360 can compete with the PS2 this fall. The PS2 is releasing great games. XBOX 360 games look mediocre and not next generation.
Microsoft can release a new system ,but without games to back it up they will end up losing more money on their ambitious project.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Emerald is pretty fun, but when you beat the game, there's not much more to do. It has some strategy involved, so that makes it kind of educational, but not really. I also never see a Game Boy Advance game break, so that makes it durable. So overall, it's a great game. The free tin is good, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, even with the knowledge of Ruby and Sapphire!
Hi, I am really excited about this game it just brings the Hoenn region to life and installs new tactics for creating as better gameplay experience. I plasyed this at one of the game stores and have not yet bought it yet, but that game has moved to the top of my list for games to buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game..is awesome! Much better than Ruby and Sapphire!
This game is much more funner and challenging. After you defeat the elite four, you can go to the Battle Frontier. The Battle Frontier is absolutley awesome! Over all, I will give this game a 9.3 outta 10! Thank you nintendo for making this game so much better! For those who don't have the game, you will love it! It's much more advanced than boring old Ruby or Sapphire. IT'S much more FUNNER! And it's only a measily little price of 35 bucks. That's a pretty good deal! So get the game today! It's AWESOME!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Few Flaws
This game, overall, was very good. I believe that even those who have Ruby or Sapphire would like this game. One reason is the new Battle Frontier. this leaves you a major challenge once the core of the game has been completed. There are also many plot changes that make this game, overall, a good buy. ... the GBA SP was a success for nintendo (they rock!!!!) as GBA WAS getting pretty old. this IS A GREAT HANDHELD, but DS IS BETTER. this sysytem plays any GBA, GB, AND GBC games. it also has a light up screen which is great for playing late into the night. so for those of youwho still have a game boy or game boy color, you're missing out on all the fun! and the price is 80 bucks, so go out and buy one NOW!!!!!!!! 5-0 out of 5 stars Really Cool!
I love this version,Orange and Green. They have never done that in gaming. The graphics are alot better. The Cartidges are smaller(duh everyone knows that). But I perfer the DS. Finnaly, An actullal GameBoy with lightup screen. The controls are in the right place, fold up. It's just not as fun as other systems. It plays GBA,Game Boy Color and even Game Boy. I have a Red one of these. But the Green/Orange idea is one of the best ideas since the DS came out. It's 20.00$ cheaper so buy one now to enjoy the gameplay.

Ever since I played my friends Gameboy, I wanted one. I saved up money to buy it. Then for my birthday I unrapped a present and it was a Gameboy! I immideatly began playing it! It was soooo cool. The graphics are crystal clear. Perfesct size. Plus it's got really cool games you can buy. There are some games that you can't buy for Playststion, Xbox, or Gamecube. I love it. I definitly don't regret putting it on my birthday wish list!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game System For The Money.
I'm a 35 year old man and -- I admit it -- I bought this thing for myself.Once you've made the initial investment in the hardware, the games cartridges themselves are relatively inexpensive(...) making it a good system for the casual video-gamer (like me) or the serious hobbyist.

Game cartridges are also within the monetary grasp of many older children's allowances, so a GameBoy Advance could be used to teach children discipline with money. In other words, buy your kid(s) the hardware (and at least one game) to start with and then let them purchase other software when their funds permit. And, of course, game cartridges make inexpensive presents when birthdays or holidays come around.

As for me, game play is very enjoyableand I'm thoroughly impressed with the graphics considering the screen size and pixel depth available to the system. (Currently I'm playing my first two cartridges: Spider-Man 2 and Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith.)

Overall, for young or old, the GameBoy Advance is a great system (even surpassing its gimmicky touch-screen sibling, the Nintendo DS).The only thing an adult player has to consider is that the majority of games are marketed mostly to those in their early teens and younger.Other than that, its excellent. To top it all off, a GameBoy Advance can also play movies and TV shows with GameBoy Advance Video cartridges.

In short, if you're looking for an affordable expandable video game system, either for you or for your children, get this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Creeper/ Reaffirms my love for video games
Before I got this game I was racing RallisportS 2 and Project Gotham 2.So I rented this game having heard it was great and I popped it in and I wanted to go get my 7$ back from the video store. But I was stuck with it so I figured I'd see what it is all about.

All of sudden when I started winning a couple races and getting a little acclamated to great vast world this games offers, I was hooked.Hooked real hard.3 days later I played for abot 18 hours straight.

A few things I love about this game

    1. Stunningly beautiful. While driving I just reaffirm to myself how beautiful this game is visually
    2. Realistic Car Damage. If you ram into another car to try to knock it off the road so you can pass it, you end up messing your car up so bad that you'll get passed and lose.
3.If you screw up on a turn, you're going to wreck.None of this pull the E-brake junk on this game, you're going into a wall or spinning off into a feild.

Just some things I was thinking about. If you haven't tried this game, do so immediately, and make sure you play it for about 2 hours. That's when I couldn't put it down. It's kind of intimidating at first, but that passes very quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks !!!
Forza motorsport is the best racing game i have ever played. It blows away GT4 by far. The damage is very realistic unlike another certain racing game (lol).and the cars are just as cool. I definetly recomend this game for all you XBOX users. It will not disapoint. In conclusion if you have an XBOX get this one it rules.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Racing Game
I recently got myself an XBox and was advised to rent and try before I buy. Blockbuster was out of Halo2 so I got this one home to try it out (I am a big fan of racing).

Before I say anything further I'd have to mention that this is my very first game on XBox so I cannot compare it to any other games.

Was I glad I rented it? Yes, Will I buy it? Yes.

It's a little pricey at $40+ when compared to other games but then again it has a great game in it.

As for the game itself it has a whole bunch of race tracks and customizable cars (categorized into Classes from R to D) with time trials, free runs and ofcourse the race arcades themselves.

I'd suggest spending $7 and renting it before paying $40+ for your own copy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars most fun in a starwars game till its sequel
i cant posibly think anyone would hate this game if they played it. It is most fun/funny starwars game yet. a perfect 10. BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is not just a kids game! You will LOVE this game!
This game is fun for the whole family.I figured at first that my little boy would be the only one to really play this game.My husband and I both thought it would be fun but we did'nt realize just how much fun until we are now hooked to playing it!!!The sounds of the light sabers are just like the real movie and the people all look just like real legos! The game is'nt very difficult but it holds your interest. There is over 30+ playable charaters to use.The game combines all 3 of the first movies in to one full game.I really like that about it, its like having 3 different games but for one price. There is tons of hidden things to find in this game.I highly recommend it for kids and adults!

5-0 out of 5 stars My sons 6-11 love it
I haven't played the game, but I got it for my Star Wars fan son when it first came out. All of my sons like this game and keep returning to it. They are figuring out how to unlock the 4th episode level. If you have a young one and they like Legos and Star Wars, I guess you have a winner here.

5-0 out of 5 stars May the fun be with you
Lego Star Wars is the greatest Star Wars game on earth. When you destroy something or someone it shatters into a buch of lego pieces. Star Wars+Lego=Fun. And its not only for kids. Many adults enjoy playing Lego Star Wars. The game is extremly fun. You can use the force to throw yor enemies or you can take your light saber out and chop em into lego peices. Or you can blast them with your pistol if you are Padme.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beware the Inch-High Jedi
This is probably the best Stars Wars game made.As far as i'm concerened, any Stars WArs game where you get to use a lightsaber is the best (there are enough games with blasters). When you turn on the game you start out in Dexters Diner, a place where you chose your level and buy characters. You get to play through episodes 1,2 and 3.
WHats good is that if you haven't seen episode 3, the game doesn't spoil that much, it gives you enouggh info so that you know what you're doing in the game, but not enough to spoil the movie. While you are travelling through the star wars universes, you collect LEGO studs, the currency of the game.At dexters diner, you can buy characters with them.YOu can also buy hints and extras, but I think they are a waste of studs. After you collected enough characters from the light side and dark side, you can go out to ddexters parking lot to wacth and join unorganized fights. They are a little easy but fun. When you collect suds you're jedi meter fills up and if you fill it up to the top you will get a piece of a special ship.TO complete fill the jedi meter in every level. You also collectt mini kit parts which you can use to make ships to put in the parking lot.If you get every ship you will unlock the games ultimate secret (sorry i don't know what it is).A good way to collect studs is to get all the mini kit pieces in a level, which will give you about 50,000 studs.Try to complete the ones in boss levels because they are small levels and pieces are easy to find.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best racing sim on the market
This is, without doubt, the best racing sim on the market. Models are outstanding, physics are tops, sounds are awesome, support is excellent, and the 3 new add-ons are definitely meant for the American market: the creators of GTR have already added 3 ovals to satisfy left-turn-itis... You have 3 levels of difficuly: Arcade, Semi-pro, and Simulation. Simulation is very difficult, while Arcade is quite easy. Lots of cars, lots of tracks, lots of options. Have fun!!

5-0 out of 5 stars drivers heaven !
this is the best experience i have ever made in racing game !
forget about gran tourismo 4. i am now on the game since 1 week and playing it nearly 12 hours a day. my opinion now, this is the most realistic and hardcore game of all categories...

and i love the porsche`s in it... :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars GTR FIA GT Racing Game PC
If you have any interest in racing games, and you own a PC, then this is the game for you. Two words: Incredibly Detailed. You can customize nearly every aspect of the game. For example, want to drive in the cockpit view but can't see over the dashboard? No problem - use the hotkeys to adjust the drivers seat. You can even tell the game to add driver head movement so you can actually look through a turn the way real drivers do.You can adjust every part of the car to make it handle exactly how you want it to handle.
The graphics are fantastic. You can adjust so many graphic settings that it should run on most computers. The car detials are exact, though most of the race car sponsors are unfamiliar to me.The cars have different paint schemes and customizations.Even the cockpits are exact replicas of the real sports cars.
The gameplay is near perfect. That is, you can modify the game to make it as hard as you want it to be.The cars all exhibit real physics with down forces and tire wear just to name a few.The game gives you three modes to play, from Arcade mode to Simulation.Remember, this game is designed as a simulator, so the game has a steep learning curve.I recommend a good two analog stick game pad to get the most out the game. And practice changing the setting to make the game comfortable to play.
Overall, the game is fun and deep, with excellent graphics and sound. What more could you want in your race car driving simulation?

---Update: For a game with so many settings, you can't adjust the number of laps in the arcade mode.Seems like they should have added that. Also, the game is very hard.I have spent most of my time playing in Arcade mode.Just be prepared to practice, ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the first
Fire Emblem was one of the best games on the gba.Final Fantasy Tactics advance was another one. What this game does is take elements from both of them and combines them into one of the best handheld games ever. The first fire emblem was an extremely challenging game. This one is too, but now you can roam the map and join in skirmishis as in ffta. The character upgrade choices also make it superior to the first game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Sequel to a Great Game
It is a time of peace, suddenly, your country of Renais is attacked by your ally, Grado. They are after the Sacred Stone, but why would they want the very thing that sealed the Demon King away centuries ago?

Welcome back to the realm of Fire Emblem. This installment had nothing to do with the other game (which is a little disappointing) but it still is as good as the first. So, what's new this time around, well first off, there's a difficulty selection available from the start (you had to unlock it in the first). There's beginner, which explains the game and has a tutorial, normal, for those of us who played through the first one and know much of the controls, and difficult, for those who want a challenge.

I got to say that I'm glad that they've added this feature so we don't have to listen to the idiotic tutorial (its good to look at it if your a beginner, but its still annoying).Anyway, the core of this game is essentially the same with some added features.

These added features include that of choosing what you want your character to turn into. For example, in the first game, thieves could only become an assassin. However, in this game you have a choice of an assassin, which is a killing machine (if you have the Killing Edge equipped), or become a Rougue, which is a thief who doesn't need lockpicks to open doors and chests. This adds a lot to the game too.

The other neat feature is the ability to walk on the world map and choose where you want to go.This system, I would compare it to that of FF Tactics Advance because you can run into monsters who are also new to the series.

There's also a Tower of Valni that is like an endurance round. You can leave whenever you want to, and its not required that you go there.

The storyline this time around is predictable but still can be classified as good.I mean I figured from the start what was going to happen, and most of your predictions will come true.

My favorite thing about this game are the main characters, Eirika and Ephraim. They are twins but seem to be complete opposites.Eirika is the peace loving princess who hates war, and Ephraim is the one who runs off trying to find pride in fighting.

So, should you pick up this game?Yes, if you liked the first one, but wanted more or if you haven't played the first. No, if you are tired of the gameplay from the first game because all you are going to get is the recycled form of the original.

    PROS
    - Good game with good stratergy ideas
    - You have the choice to choose if you want the tutorial
    - The added walk on the map feature is very useful
    - The ability to choose what your unit will become

    CONS
    - The story is way too predictable
    - A lot of this game is recycled from the old game (can be good or bad)

5-0 out of 5 stars I haven't seen this yet
i haven't seen this game yet, but i'm sure that pigs are cool. you may find that this looks kqueer, but you know that it's true. just sayin hi to all those solar hills sons in this world

2-0 out of 5 stars As a game, Sacred Stones is average. as a sequal, its a joke
Basically, what we have here is the same game.
Seriously. Intelli Sys recycled like 60% of the content from FE1(7 in jpn)? The only "new" things here are what you'd already expect in a sequel anyway: a new plot and new character designs.

Why would anyone pay full price to play exactly the same game all over again? It boggles the mind. On the pc we have what are called "expansion packs". This "sequel" does nothing new what the previous game hasn't already done. And the previous one, which I've reviewed, wasn't that impressive either.

In short, go ahead and buy this if you liked the first one and want more of the same. If the previous Fire Emblem didn't do much for you however, don't expect anything different.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
This game had pretty big shoes to fill from the first fire emblem for gba but it certainly filled them. I really liked the choice for promoting units and the extra battles for level ups. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Totally, completely, AWESOME!! :) :) :):):)
This game is great. The graphics are good, the variety of characters is astounding, the unlockable parts are cool. This game is awesome, action packed, funny, and cool all rolled in one. How do I know this? I've seen the trailer. I've seen many screen shots. And I've read other people's reviews. I have not even bought this game. I don't even have a penny saved up for it yet(I'm saving for something else). But, IF: you have the money; IF: You like games that has funny stuff; and IF: You just LOVE Star Wars, Legos, and Roleplaying games: THEN BUY THIS GAME! IT'S AWESOME!!!

so I felt pretty dumb buying this game.. looks like a little kids game.. sounds like a little kids game - but I love star wars! so I bought it and brought it to school - by the end of the week 5 out of 6 people I showed it to had bought it. the lego idea is really cool - I went and saw revenge of the sith and I kept thinking about how buildings would look as legos.. but anyways. I'm not even remotely good at video games - I don't think I've ever finished a game in my life.. though i have many. I haven't finished this one yet - but I have high hopes. This isn't hard to play - when you finish levels you can go back and play through them again and with different characters that youve unlocked - which is very amusing to a star wars fan.. :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Too short and gets old FAST
I'll make this short, I BEAT THIS GAME THE SAME DAY I GOT IT. It barley covers episodes I, II and III, note how on the description it says that the game covers the most exciting and memorable scenes from all three movies? WELL THAT'S ALL THEY GIVE YOU! The day after i got it it was still kinda fun but then i played it a little more and it just got plain BORING.DON'T make the same mistake I did. I would rather save my money and buy actual legos or a different game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game
Obviously this a Tetris style puzzle game. The music is amazing and goes with the game the way a fat kid goes with cake. This game is way better than Tetris ever was.Lummies has a colorful backround and is VERY addicting. This is a very good pick up and play game.I perfer this game over Mercury although I like both.I am also an action gamer and don't even really like puzzle games!

4-0 out of 5 stars New twist on tetris
I've seen a few variations of Tetris since it was first released.. well the first version I ever saw was on an Apple IIc that was a pirated and completely in russian.

Lumines is pretty simple, form 4 small blocks of the same color into a square by shifting, sliding and spinning 4 block combos that drop from the sky.Make high score, start over. You could add on that you can also play head to head with other PSP players or try a few of the other modes with specialized goals.
For some reason I get drawn into a cycle of playing one game after another cause I messed up just a little bit on the last one and could have done better.

Each time you last out a level (timed, so your not penalized by making bonus points like you did in tetris), you open up a new "skin" with a different song and visual background/blocks.

This was the third game i've bought for my psp so far and it is the most addictive.Even though its not as flashy or involved as some of the other titles, its definately packed with fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tetris wishes it was as cool as Lumines
Okay so a lot of other reviews will focus on things like the amazing music, flashy graphics, rotating skins, and so forth. But the fun of Lumines is mostly in gameplay, which requires a lot more skill than tetris ever did.

Everybody's going to compare this game to Tetris because it has four-part pieces that fall onto the screen where you place the pieces in order to get points and clear blocks.Let me be clear in saying that this is ALL they have in common.Clearing lines in tetris is easy, and the only skill involved is being able to move the piece fast enough before it falls.

Lumines is a whole new kind of game. Each piece is a 2x2 block where each little block is one of two colors.Your goal is to make squares of 2x2 blocks that are the same color. This sounds easy enough, but it isn't, always. Not only can you make blocks of 2x2, but these blocks can overlap each other, so a block of 3x2 works, or any other combination of shapes where the 2x2 blocks can be found. This means there's a lot of strategy in laying down a block in order to maximize the number of cubes it makes.

What's also innovative about this game is the "timeline" which scrolls across the screen, clearing the cubes you've made. That's right, a cube doesn't disappear as soon as you've made it.. it takes a few seconds, which allows you to stack multiple pieces together to form more and more overlapping cubes before the timeline swipes them away.but if you don't do it quick enough, you'll only get part of your cube cleared and be left with the rest.

The skill and strategy involved with dropping each piece in the right place at the right time is immense, and takes far more brainpower than tetris ever could. That's what makes this game so fun.

Another little feature I will mention about the skins, some of them seem designed specifically to be harder to see, so that placing the blocks isn't as easy as it was with other skins. On other levels the timeline will move slower or faster, further changing the dynamics of the game (you'd think a slower timeline would let you create more blocks, but if you've got a full screen it can be a nightmare waiting for your screen to open up).

I should point out that there are a few annoying bugs in Lumines that, for instance, won't save your scores all the time. The instructions are also pretty unclear about the details of the vs. modes, where you can attack your opponent (which moves the border of your screen over one, giving you more room to work and your opponent less), but they don't tell you exactly how to attack. Finally from what i've read, you cannot score higher than 999,999 which is a bit ridiculous for a system of this level. Hopefully someday there will be a Lumines 2 that fixes these problems, but in the meantime this game is good enough for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perpetual Harmony
Tetris quite frankly bores me.It dominated a large sum of my time and now I dread its remade counterparts. Why do I enjoy Lumines? It breaks out of the norm so many block puzzle-games take.A new perspective and enjoyable mix-up of gameplay makes it a favorite for the PSP, although I would not go as far as calling the game revolutionary or mind-blowing.

If you've played "Rez" or any other games set to music and beats you already know how these games strike an incredibly fun chord, and why they are must buys. But if not the I'll let you in on the twist, with each stage clear new eye-candy appears in the background and a tune begins. With the beat of the song a timer swipes across the screen stack as many of the square style blocks before the time between beats is over and rack up combos. Then watch to your amusement as your towers fall causing chain-reactions multiplying in more blocks made, and a higher score.

I admit to playing the game in a trance-like state watching the blocks flow and hearing the music blend to find myself going on half an hour of play without noticing.Unlocking new songs, and backgrounds give just enough initiative to keep playing you up into the night.

Overall Lumines is fun but not my pick over a console game with more of a story. It's perfect for a portable platform and a great game for the PSP.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's racing without the ridges
This is the first game I bought for the PSP and it's a great one. It really shows off the power of the system, the sound is incredible, the graphics jaw dropping, and it's immensely playable.

One minor gripe though is that the basic tour is waaaaaay too easy. Your car easily outpaces anything else on the track and finishing in first place, a mile up the road from the competition in all 30-odd races is no problem at all. Knowing you're going to win every race and spending every lap out in front on your own gets a bit tedious. The Pro section is a bit better however - although could still be a bit harder to get that podium finish! The controls are nicely customisable and intuitive and the cars have suitably different handling characteristics to make the game challenging.

But overall a great PSP game - really playable and a huge 'wow' factor from all my mates - well impressed ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing racer for the psp
For a launch title, Ridge Racer is an amazing game. It really shows off the great graphics on the PSP and the gameplay is great as well. Everything is near perfect on here. The graphics, sound, and controls are all outstanding although if you don't like arcade style racers you may want to avoid this or give it a rental. The game's use of power sliding works well and is fun although the game seems to be a bit easier because of it. Since the game require more streaming off the disk, the battery is life is shorter although I really don't mind it at all. Anyway, if you want a racing game for the PSP, one of the best is already out there waiting for you to pick it up.

4-0 out of 5 stars when in doubt, just keep drifting
the problem of this game is this.. simply by deliberately drifting the car, you can avoid hitting the boundary, hence the reduction of speed.. although drifting too recklessly could slow you down.. but a well managed but a bit aimless drifting can help avoiding penalty.. and put your car back onto the right direction and track...which i think is a flaw... this makes the game a bit easlier to finish.. and a bit routine

5-0 out of 5 stars Ridge Racer.......
Think of this Ridge Racer as a 'best-of' collectionthat has all the best bits of the ten-year long previous Ridge games and you pretty much got the idea of what this Ridge Racer holds in store. It boasts the largest selection of tracks in any previous version(24, to be exact), with a selection of 58 different cars, as well as upgrades for your cars. It's possibly the biggest and best Ridge Racer to date. Add to that, 8 player head to head competition(something that no other racer has, right now, except for Wipeout Pure) which can get really intense- at times-...let me tell you.Speed and control are dead-on, which is important with this type of racer. The graphics...well,...let's just say are simply amazing. Some of the best I've seen on the PSP so far. It's one of those games that shows the PSPs' graphical prowess. It's much sharper and realistic looking than the version of Ridge Racer for the Nintendo DS(which, in my opinion, looked downright horrendous). It's the second racer I've got for my collection(Need for Speed Underground Rivals being the first)of PSP games and is another that has kept me addicted playing for weeks on end.
If you're a Ridge Racer fan that wants to take a drive down Memory Lane for some all-out racing fun, this game is definitely for you.If, however, you're not big on the series...this game won't do much to change your mind about it.
I'll admit, I'm not much of a Ridge Racer fan myself but this game has been a blast to play. I love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fourth best racer on PSP
This game has PS2 graphics and decent steering. This game is obviously better than the DS port it is lacking a realistic game play.It is too much of an arcade game, and I don't mean like a street racer, I mean like a game where you put in the 50 cents and drive. Also, like the other RRs, the cars are bunched up in small groups which you easily pass in half a lap so most of the time you are just driving around alone. The commentary is horrible.I bet Evenderr Hollyfield now wants Mike Tyson to bite off his other ear off too after listening to the commentary of the game. This game is ok but with the other good PSP games this might be one you want to pass. ... The play control is great and the story line is pretty good, but it's just WAY too short!I remember the days of the Zelda for SNES where you played all the way through the game, 8 dungeons and the final battle, only to find out there are 8 more dungeons and an entirely new world to explore! Here we have 5 dungeons and an extremely small world to explore.Sure, there are a bunch of kinstones to swap, but that's only so entertaining.Overall, I liked the game, just wanted it to go on for another 5 dungeons!

4-0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun
I've been a nearly lifelong Zelda fan, so, although I don't buy a lot of GBA games, I bought this one the week it was released. I've played it through twice now, and enjoyed it both times. Here are a few points I consider while playing:
Point one: Graphics- While I didn't aprove of the switch to cell-shaded graphics (I find it irritatingly cartoony for a title which was previously somewhat more serious), it fit the tone and was well done.
Point two: storyline/ length- good, basic storyline- rescue the princess and save Hyrule- which fits well with the game's history. I would have liked a few more dungeons, but the sidequests somewhat made up for that.
Three: sidequests/ extras- Quite good, especially as they haven't been strong in the previous games. Kinstones and Figurines add more dimension to an otherwise (pleasantly) simple game.
Overall: Great game, can't wait for the next one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful! Miyamoto brings back more fun!
Okay, hour 1 of minish cap: It's 6:00pm and I'm still stuck on this one puzzle, the size of a piece of dust and Ezlo isn't helping me... success! I found the Jar of Gusts! I suck the spiderwebs off (You're sick if you're thinking what I think you're thinking I'm thinking you're thinking.) with the jar and get out of the extra entrances, quite frankly I'm entertained.

Drowning in puddles... teardrops and getting jumped by pieces of pollen... what's not to want or need?! Mr. Miyamoto did not fail us, the gameplay engine was solid, the graphics, good for a GBA game, sound... wonderful! I swear, playing as a super-chibbi is fun, so if you want an affordable good game... don't buy this game... buy it if you want an awesome affordable game! Go Zelda!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Game
This is fun, even when you play it again. There is a HUGE amount of kinstone fusions to do, it will take a lot of time to come up with everything. I had to make a separate game where I don't finish the four sword, since i miss a lot of fusions from the town. Also, try making your name dude or cheesy. People start saying really weird stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars So Much Fun
I had a ball playing this game. It took a while to finish but it was worth it. Going to start all over again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the better games.
This game is amazingly fun and addicting. I started playing 2 or so years ago, and i'm still playing it. It will only take you a couple of weeks to reach Heavy Mode and maybe a month or 2 before you can beat MaxX UNLIMITED.
To play this game, you step on the arrows on the dance pad corresponding to the arrows scrooling up the screen. Some songs are exceptionally fast (320 BPM: MaxX UNLIMITED), others are really slow (140 BPM: So Deep). The fast ones may seem impossible to read at first, but after some time, it'll be easier to read than a picture book.
Personally, the hard songs are really easy over time. Believe it or not, i have "AAA"ed MAX 300, MaxX UNLIMITED, and The legend of MAX, and im one of the best players in Ohio.
And by the way, if you go to buy the Japanese version of MAX2 or Extreme, have fun with PARANOiA Survivor MAX (Hardest song in DDR history) ;)

4-0 out of 5 stars Much better than seditary gaming!
I love this, I still don't understand how anyone can actually do the advanced levels (seems impossible to me).The thing that I'm not sure about is if it will save info for 2 players?Overall fun and a good workout for body and mind and spirit.

1-0 out of 5 stars "Patrick Swayze Would have been proud of me"
Last Friday, my aunt Chris and uncle Chris (no joking they have the same exact name; on a side note though, for laughs I like to call uncle Chris aunt Chris, lol)came into town to go to some formal dinner of some sorts with Mom and Dad. I was supposed to go to 9 Mile with Lyle and look at guitars with him but Mom and Dad said I had to baby-sit Chris and Chris's 12 year old daughter (my cousin) Trisha.

She was kind of spoiled but that's what happens to most only children. Anywho, she brought over this new virtual reality game for the PS2 called Dance Dance Revolution 2. Whereas the point is to stand on these pads and, you guessed it dance. Lyle ended staying over to keep me company while bratty Trisha played with her High Brow toy. She ended up having two of those virtual reality pads so two people could play. When she offered, Lyle immediately stated, "NO WAY, those are strictly for girls and Asian guys", I quickly followed his lead to save face with him (he was a little irritated that we had to skip guitar browsing, so I didn't want to push it).

Around 10:30 Trisha went to bed so Lyle and I watched Black Dog (a great Patrick Swayze movie, by the way), Lyle went to bed right after the movie ended, but I told him I wanted to stay up a little bit to practice my harmonica. After about 15 minutes when I thought he would be a sleep, I kind of betrayed him and turned on Dance Dance. I played and it grew on me really quick. Before I knew it, I was dancing like my feet were on fire. After about twenty minutes I thought how fun it would be to go head on head with someone else. Since I dared not to wake up Lyle or Trisha, I had an ingenious idea.

What I did was I boxed in the second pad with the couch, loveseat, and chairs, then I tied a bog biscuit to a string and hung it from the light fixture above the pad. Then I woke up Morris (my dog) and did a quick grappling bout with him to riel him up. When I found him ready enough I put him in the furniture enclosure and showed him the dog biscuit. The match was on! We played straight for about a half-hour. I danced like there was no tomorrow while he jumped up and down trying to get the treat that was just inches from his grip. In the end I pretty much annilatted Morris, I think he only beat me like once.

In conclusion, Virtual Reality is finally starting to show some promise. It's been a long road for it. I just hope the world can show the future generations of virtual reality the tolerance and acceptance that Morris, Trisha, and I have.

Now at the Review writing section it asked me 2 questions. The first was "How much fun is this game?".Well thats easy.It is a Tuttleman approved 5 stars of fun.The second question was "How do you rate this game overall?".The problem is that I could never admit to Lyle that I actually liked this crazy contraption.Do you know how many cool points I would lose if Lyle knew I was (for one night only) a solid-gold lord of the dance with feet of fire!?ALL OF THEM.So I'm rating it 1 star over-all, just in case Lyle asks me what I rated it.That way I won't technically be lying to Lyle.Later.

5-0 out of 5 stars DDR Rocks!
This game is fun, addicting, and healthy for you! DDR Max 2 is well worth its price. Although most of the songs in it are not all that common, the music selection is still pretty good and I would recomend this game for any beginners in the world of DDR.

It teaches you the basics and also allows you to choose harder options for those of whom are already hooked to the arcade version.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME

5-0 out of 5 stars Roll with a goal!!
Upon hearing about this game, my knee-jerk reaction was that it would be the most boring game in existence.I mean, seriously, how fun can it be to roll around a ball, picking up various items along the way?!Apparently more fun than anyone anticipated (judging by others' reactions and ratings)!

Other reviewers have been doing a great job describing the goal of the game; that of rolling around a sticky ball (katamari) and picking up progressively larger items.Once you get the katamari a certain size (as determined by what mission, stage, level you're on) the King of the Cosmos turns your katamari into a star or constellation.

What many of the reviewers seem to have missed is the goal of each level. The overarching theme is to make stars and constellations, in order to restore all of the stars to the sky. However, each level has specific nuances. For instance, when trying to make the constellation Taurus, the goal is to pick up the largest cow you can find.Additionally, you may want to try working on making the constellation of Gemini. In this level you need to try and pick up two (a pair) of each item.Your score is then calculated for however many pairs you have.

The game is fantastic, simple (in controls and purpose), but still challenging... with time limits to produce a certain-sized katamari.I do not own this game, and have only played it once, but I guarantee that I will be purchasing this game in the near future! It's a great game.Give it a chance!I think you'll like it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Humorous, infectuos and weird
So, you are pint sized prince who rolls katamari, a ball that everything sticks to. As things stick to katamari, ball grows and larger are the objects that you can merge with katamari. Almost all levels are time trial (I dislike time trials) and you have a size ball must reach, so you roll around and learn what levels look like in order to make katamari grow faster. All levels are medium or easy, except Poland.

Game is logical, which we haven't seen in a long time, and it is really attractive: imagine rolling 5 cm big katamari to pick up nuts and batteries in the beginning of the level and , after some time, rolling katamari big enough to pick up people, cars, buildings, and , finally, clouds and rainbows.

There should be a sequel soon, and I'd like to see levels that are different visually (Saudi Arabia looks like Russia). Some levels could have special restrictions, like it is forbidden to roll people, some levels should have interesting geometry, let's say sliding down the street or possibility to roll down the roller coaster. It would also be nice to have more levels with large katamari, and more levels in general.

The main reason game got 4 stars is camera...but, BUY! Game is weird but also really fun to play!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars ????????????? But FUN!
the developers of this game were obviously on an overdose of every drug ever created! This is the wierdest game i have ever and ever will play in my entire life! But in a good way . . . the game actualy has shadow of brilliance combined with block and and solid objects. The game however is VERY fun! which makes me wonder about drugs . . . (just kidding, drugs are bad!)all ages will find a whimsical joy in this odd, fun, and blurry brilliance. Its a bragain, u have no excuse!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, Fun, Fun!
This is a great game for anyone, no matter the age.
If you can use the Playstation controller, you can play this game.

Plenty of others have given good descriptions of it, so I just wanted to echo a 5 star review.

If you have kids, you will be playing right along with them, I'm sure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tripped Out
I first played this game at a buddies house and was hooked on of all things, the tunes.Basically this game is like the others have said - the stars are gone and it's the son of the King of Cosmos' job to put them back to the sky, and re-create the constellations. So, the son goes to earth and with a ball called a Katamari, he rolles up anything from ants to skyscrapers so that a giant ball of stuff they can be elevated into the sky and turned into stars.

The thing about this game that's so addictive are the little challenges to it and finding different things that you missed the first 4 times you rolled on a level. You wind up enjoying watching others play it because you look at the details of all the objects that are around you in the game - and how impressive it is!(the amount of detail)The gameplay to this is simple and fun - one of my friends likened rolling the ball to driving the Warthog in Halo 2; not so bad of an analogy. But that's all you really need - you don't use the buttons really or anything else; just the analog sticks, which make it a game that almost anyone can play and enjoy.

Definitely recommend it.I enjoyed the game and the tunes in the game were cute if anything else.Try not to think too much of the 'plot' of the game... there really isn't one although there is a small story to carry along which is more of a gag for the tripped out herb heads. But this really is a pretty easy game that you can just pop in, take your mind off things, and play.I guess my only gripe would be that it wasn't very long at all... even though I wound up playing it for about 3 hours straight when i got it.Check it out! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Loads of great fun!!!!
I found this game at an online game site and HAD to have it as soon as it was available to purchase!
Lots of fun and I am admittedly addicted to playing this game whenever I get in front of my computer.
The animation with the dragon is cute and so amusing that he is an inspiration to make bigger, difficult words just to see him react.
This is one of the best word games that I have played. School age children and adults will all enjoy this educational and fun game.
I highly recommend everyone to purchase this addicting, enjoyable (and educational) game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bookworm is weird person!
I really like it. I play it online game at bigfish game site. I really love it. I am going to get one for me!. I really like cd-rom version because it great than download. MICHELLE

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, Addictive and Educational! High Marks All Around!
I am addicted to Bookworm and need to acquire more willpower, fast, to limit my daily gametime. I find myself spending hours playing, late evenings especially, and, (blush), sometimes at work. Trying to accumulate a high score - my personal best - like at the Olympics, is the most addictive part for me!! I used to play Scrabble on the PC and loved it, but Bookworm is by far the better game - I think. I have limited myself to no more than an hour per day, OK sometimes 2 hours - but that is time used to build vocabulary and other skills, rather than watch one of my favorite TV programs. See how easy it is to rationalize? Actually, Bookworm has helped to improve my Scrabble skills also. There's almost an entire dictionary of possibilities stored on the CD.

The concept of Bookworm is simple. One needs to make words by linking adjacent letter tiles. The more complex the word and more difficult the letter, (z, x, q, like Scrabble), the higher the score. Short, or low scoring words, cause fires to start with letters at the top of the PC screen, the library wall. If a word is not formed from the burning tile letters before they reach the bottom, then the game explodes - kaput! The higher your score, the more burning tiles appear. Thus the level of difficulty increases. Also, the longer one plays a particular game, thus using up a variety of tiles, itbecomes more difficult to find either vowels or consonants. Scoring then becomes even more difficult.

There is a leisurely paced Classic Game, and no beat the clock option. I personally prefer this one. It gives one time to really think and look for many-lettered words. Then there's the Action Game, where you have to beat both the clock and the burning tiles. Since one is more inclined to go for short words when the clock is ticking, there are more burning tiles here. It really gets the adrenaline going! There is also a Save Game option which is terrific. Once I begin to score in the high numbers, which can take a while, I get tired, and am able to save the game without losing points, and can come back to it another time. The players' high scores are saved in the Hall of Fame, so it is easy to compete against yourself or another player.

The book worm, Lex, (from lexicon), is a funny and bizarre creature who makes weird noises, supposedly to encourage the player to feed his endless appetite for words. When a particularly good word is formed, he belches! I enjoyed this feature for all of five minutes, and then turned down the sound. However, I think kids would love this vocabulary tapeworm. And Bookworm is perfect for children and adults alike. The game is from Activision. It is fun and educational and I highly recommend it. The CD version is more complex and has many more possibilities than the free download found on the Web. I tried the download before buying the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Always on the look-out for word games .
This game can keep me occupied for hours . I'm sure it improves memory , vocabulary , etc., but most of all , it is just plain fun . Although it is not really pertinent to this review , I am 65 + and have been a Scrabble fan for years . I now prefer 'Bookworm Deluxe'. P. J. Kale

5-0 out of 5 stars BookWorm Deluxe - Excellent!!
I bought the online version before the CD came out...It is the very best word game I've ever played!! I'm also 50+ and I believe this game is great for all ages to improve memory, spelling and learning definitions of some words I've never heard of before. The worm is so funny when he starts to shake and sweat when the red, burning tiles get too close to the bottom. I HIGHLY recommend BookWorm Deluxe. It's everything it's advertised to be and MORE...it's also hard to stop playing!! You will love it!! ... Read more

Ok, as yall might know me, im Gamer8. To the game. This game is sorta like the first NBA Street game for the PS2. It has some flaws, such as lighting. Also, at points of the game, you might say, is this game worth $50.00? Well, its worth about $30.00. 1.- Its not a good game for portability. 2.-Lighting is bad at times 3.-Can be hard for beginners. So I suggest that you must know what the first few NBA Street games are about before buying thsi title. PS:Its a fun game after a while

4-0 out of 5 stars Way better then MVP
I first waited for the release of MVP because on consoles it is the superior game.On the PSP it bites. The batter has such a swing delay that you have to swing as soon as the pitcher lets go whether it's gonna be a ball or a strike. The graphics on MLB are also much better then MVP.MLB does not have all the intro movies of the batter walking into the box and all that but how many times do you watch them anyway? I usually watch the first two and then it just becomes a pain in the *** to hit x every two seconds to skip all the worthless stuff. So if you want a great game for on the go gameplay this is the one for you. GO CARDS!!

4-0 out of 5 stars just as tight on playstation 2
nice graghics easy to bat and play. I love this game it's great

4-0 out of 5 stars Great graphics, pretty fun
First of all, the platform I was playing before this was N64 so I wasn't spoiled already by the Cube, PS2, or XBOX.MLB on PSP is pretty awesome to look at and very fluid gameplay.I tried to start out at "All-Star" mode (the middle difficulty) but kept striking out too much.Went back to "Rookie" and am really jamming with the bat though losing as much as I win.One of the problems for me is the baserunning which seems more difficult than necessary...I get thrown out a lot.

Overall, a fun game with great detail. Some have complained about no franchise mode and maybe it's the same thing but I wish there was an opportunity for a "draft" similar to Madden in order to test my administrative skills against the computer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid
First off, MVP Baseball from EA is coming out shortly and considering how badly it beats up on MLB in other genres, it will most likely be better on PSP as well. So, if you can stand waiting a while for that game to come out then you should. I suggest most people to wait and compare all the reviews/ratings before making a purchase...
That is, unless you're like me, and you're to addicted to baseball to wait a month or so... If that's the case, then this game is a solid purchase to hold you over.
The graphics are exellent, almost as good as PS2, XBox. The gameplay is of a high quality... Realistic, smooth, decent controls. I don't like the fact that your throws in the field are so straight forward... you dont control how hard or accurate the throw is, you just push a button. other than that, I have no real complaints about the gameplay. It's not spectacular, but it's solid... I wish it had a dynasty/franchise mode, and I wish you could do more as far as roster managment goes, but none of the 1st gen., PSP sports game will have a franchise, so no use complaining about that.
So, in closing, if you just can't wait, you won't regret buying this game. Just know that it most likely won't be the best PSP baseball game available once MVP comes out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I hoped for.
From the moment I had my PSP I wondered how good a baseball game could be on it.

MLB exceeds those expectations. It is awesome. The pitching is easy, yet complex at the same time, and hitting is also very managable.I love NBA, which is also 989 and was hoping this game would be modeled after that as far as gameplay, and features..and it is.

    The negative:
No Career mode. No player customization.

Thats it.If they had that it would be amazing, but they dont and the product is still definitely worth buying.

If you are a baseball fan and a psp owner, you need this title.

    ALSO:
It is not an EA Sports Game. That is a good thing.I have boycotted that company since they are slowly taking the competition out of this industry. No competition means no reason to make the product any better, and no reasons to price your game at less than 50 bucks.GO 989!

and go REDS! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wind Me Up and Turn Me Loose
Are you thinking about trying the waters as a first time gamer?, Are you a hardcore gamer that is looking for something different?Or are you somewhere in between wanting something to consume your mind?!?Well......Nintendo has a game for you!!!WarioWare Twisted is an absolute when it comes to fun and different. The game has a gyro-sensor and so you use no other controls except for the occasional but for an action. You twist and turn your GBA/SP/DS to get it to do what you need, which is a multitude of mini games lasting no more than a few seconds long in length.

WarioWare MegaGames set the industry on its ear when it came out several years ago.By the way, when you finish Twisted, the original can still be found and is HIGHLY recommended. The goal is to complete several "mini" games, from twisting your airplane to fly out between hanger doors. To twisting so your legs match the syncro swimmers next to you.But as you go the faster and faster you have to complete your mini game.

I originally purchased the first WarioWare for my wife, we were looking at a long trip and she usually likes to take her GBA along to make the hours go buy. This one is no different, except for she makes me take corners wide as not to affect the gyro sensor and throw her game off.We almost need two of this game, we are always trying to play it when the other has it.The WarioWare series of games always get high reviews, the first one is deemed a classic and I am sure this one will be one too given enough time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!My head is spinning
I loved the microgames in previous Wario titles, but these are a whole lot of fun mainly due to the gyroscope (a sensor that knows when you are turning the GBA).I think this one beats the DS version TOUCHED simply beause it is easier to grasp and use without the stylus.Playing this one in public will get you some odd looks too.Lots of secrets to unlock.Definitely replay all the levels several times - there's a lot to unlock in here. This is a great game for all ages and all skill levels. That's the real draw. The whole family can fight over who's turn it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twisted sick
This game is addictive! FUNFUNFUN.I'm here to tell some wacked things about this game. First if you play Jimmy DR. CrygorOrbolon and Warioman Long enough you will get Fronk GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are hyper fast games by fronk. You can tell you get these when the music turns wierd. Play designers over to get new games and soveniers. Play Nine and eighteen volt to get the hilarious MONA PIZZA RECORD.If you beat wario man pay attention to his hysterical cut scene. I'm firing everyone. all in all this is a completley strange and pointless micro game bash. (What fun!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun game
This game is alot of fun and is hard to put down. I am a 51 old woman that loves to play gameboy games and I have all the Wario games. Took a little getting use to having to move the gameboy back and forth or in circles but it is a lot of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twisted is incredibly addictive!
Okay, so I kinda bought this on impulse, without reading any reviews first. I mean, I had seen the DS version "touched" and loved it, but don't have a DS! "Twisted" has the exact same appeal as "Touched", and is just as fun, if not more! No stylus, just turn your gameboy! The gyro sensor is really sensitive, and you hardly push any buttons on this game. It's a perfect game to killl 5-10 minutes...but also pretty hard to put down if you have a lot of time to kill! The challenge doesn't seem to end, because you keep trying to want to beat your own scores, earn more souveneirs, and turn, turn turn! It's the best gameboy game I've come across in a long while. Totally original. I'm addicted. I love the mini-mini-game format. Buy it. You won't be disappointed! =) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars going to golf and not getting too frustrated.
I love the game's simple game play.Line up, adjust swing for yardage, and hit for sweet spot - make the ball fly.Putting on the green is made simple if you follow the lines on the grid.Challenge mode lets you unlock various Golf courses.Overall, worth every single penny.Love the game, love the characters.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great port of a great game
I'll start by saying that I love the Hot Shots franchise. I've purchased every title on PS and PS2. It's the reason I bought this before Tiger Woods for the PSP. That said, this version has drawbacks. It's great to play Hot Shots on the go and gameplay is a lot of fun. Nice graphics, sound, etc. The downsides are multiple but in the end don't ruin the game.
    1. You can't play multiple players without multiple PSP's. While I appreciate that Sony wants to sell units, this is a basic feature of video golf that should have been included.
    2. Lack of training mini-games. If you've played HS before you'll pick up the subtleties quickly but c'mon, the one mini-game is a putting challenge? Weak.
    3. The road to unlocking all courses, players is loooong. Sure, most of the tournaments are nine hole which makes the game move quickly but you have to win so many that I literally played 130 games before I got all the courses and players. God forbid you accidentally overwrite your data and have to start over.
    4. Some variants of the courses (long tees, mirror courses) are so difficult that you can get frustrated. The CPU players ability (at the upper ranks) to chip in from deep bunkers a hundred yards out can be annoying as well. There are several times where "miracle shots" on the CPU's part will make you want to throw the game across the room.
O.K. I'm done. Yes, I mentioned a lot of issues but all in all it's a fun game. I can't compare it to Tiger Woods 'cuz I haven't played that one. It's worth your time if you love golf games and doubly so if you're a Hot Shots afficianado.

4-0 out of 5 stars Addictively fun with awesome graphics
I'm normally not a big sports game fan. But Hot Shots is so much fun with its customizeable characters and challenge modes that our entire family is now addicted to the game.

First, the basics. You have a cartoon-style character that moves from hole to hole on a golf course, with the traditional line up, swing and putt golfing moves. When you win, you earn character customizations, new players, new courses, and more. You can then change your character's hairstyle, outfit, clubs, balls, and even accessories. Many items give you bonusses and penalties. As you develop a playing style, you might work on gaining items that give you control, for example, at the expense of power.

Maybe you've done this sort of game before on a console - but you haven't seen this on a handheld! The graphics are simply gorgeous. Each course has its own look and feel, from Japanese pagodas to misty mountains. The detail of the trees and surroundings is incredible.

You might worry that the fine movements are hard to master - but actually they do a really good job with this and it becomes quite intuitive to power the main drive and to gently tap the ball into the hole.

There are little quirks with the game. In most golf games, if you are too quick on hitting the ball, you "hook" (the ball curves left) and if you're too late, you "slice" (the ball curves right). But in this game, it seems that when you miss a perfect impact, it's sort of random exactly what the ball does.

There are a few graphic issues. If you hit your ball into a tree (by accident of course), you can see that the ball hits the tree. When you move in close to do your next shot, it appears that the tree has vanished. But when you swing, POOF the tree appears again to block you :)

Luckily for you, the computer opponents have the same issues. Sometimes a computer character will hit into a tree and feel stuck - so they hit back and forth in the woods until they give up (after 9 shots).

But these are really pretty minor issues that rarely come up. Like I said, we don't normally play a lot of sports games - but this one is really rather addictive. I wish you earned new courses more quickly, but the lure of getting them gets you to perfect the courses you have available and to build up your score. You're always earning more items, more bonusses, so even your small victories still give you a reward. The little cut-scenes are cute and add personality to the game.

    Highly recommended!

    4.5/5

5-0 out of 5 stars You got the whole world in your hands!
I will admit, I didn't have a PSP until I heard this was on the shelf. I'm a Hot Shots Golf freak! So knowing I could take this anywhere, the bathroom, my car, the kitchen, my bed and even in church (just kidding) I bought myself a PSP and picked up Hot Shots Golf Open Tee! I'm not a big expert on this system, but I was not expecting a little handheld to compare to the likes of Hot Shots Golf 3 or ""fore"" on the PS2, but to my surprise, this game is like having the actual big games in the palm of your hand, and in some respects, it's better. The big plus with this game is the easeand quickness of play. There are virtually no load times between holes and the gameplay is fast and responsive and looks pretty to boot. I can't believe how bright the game is.

The game plays terrific and I have to say "If it's not broke, why fix it" came into play with Hot Shots Golf Open Tee as the control scheme is identical to Hot Shots Golf 3 and Fore.

So if you have played 3 or Fore, you'll be right at home. The differences are in the courses and the new characters. You only have 6 courses to choose (in total) from this time, (which is pretty good for a handheld...) The characters are all new. I think there are at least 15 golfers and some secret ones too. The problem is that you only start out with 2 golfers and 1 course. Kind of the bare minimum especially if you don't want to take the time to earn the new ones, but you'll have to. That said, the game is substantially longer and grueling, but I like this aspect, because people with handhelds can kill some serious time. It takes about 5-7 matches to earn a new character. Most are only 9 holes in the beginning, but it still takes an eternity to earn new characters. Some might like this aspect, some may not. Along the way you earn new threads (wardrobes) hats, shirts, jewelery, shoes, etc. It took me about an hour to just earn the first secret character and a new course to play on!

The courses are all new and gives new freshness to the series. No more "Sakura" from past games which was one of my favorite courses, but these are very good too, and challenging to boot, Don't let the cheesy graphics fool you. Speaking of graphics...

The game is extremely fast pace and control for your swin is right on. You only press the X button in multiple sessions in Hot Shots Golf 3. It may still seem like old school control and maybe they should have given us more options, but even without the analog stick to control your swing, I still feel right at home with Hot Shots and you will too. For people that simply cannot line up your "impact meter" they offer an automatic swing too for people who can't do it so you could hand this over to your uncle John to play! Although this easier, they do punish people who use it by taking away power from your swing.

Wow, I never knew the PSP could look this good. Hot Shots Golf Open Tee looks amazing. Sure the zany characters are still annoying at times, but the overall look of Open Tee is a lot sharper and the backgrounds are very picturesque to boot! There are some magnificent use of photo backdrops that mesh with the golfing environments perfectly. After you play a game, "while not important to the gameplay, you get doused with some full motion video of moving clouds and ocean tides running up along a beach, wow! As you progress through a round of golf, you'll notice little added touches like day turning into dusk and dusk turning into day. Clouds move through the sky and rain starts to pour. The water holes, ponds, lakes etc...looks pretty darn real and it might want to make you want to take a swim.

So how is the sound? Well. They totally redid the music and it's all new stuff, and I have to say it meshes with the action perfectly and your headphones are a must! Cheesy comments from characters after crazy shots and good enviromental effects, but a bit skimpier than it's PS2 cousin. I need more birds "a chirpin".Your caddies, while included, they never seem to make an appearance in the actual game, so I'm not sure why they are even a choice in the game? They don't even help you? Hmmm..

I don't know much about the technical aspects of the game, I have not tried to play it over a "network" as you are offered the option to play with 8 other golfers over a network "LAN" line. The game is "NOT ONLINE" which will be a disappointment to many, but never threat, as a single player experience and the massive "challenge mode" you will be happy as this is one of the best PSP games and a must own for golfing fans.

**Final Call** A must have PSP game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Hot Shots Fore!
Gameplay if great, fast, easy to learn, and the graphics are superb! This game really shows you what the PSP is capable of when it comes to graphics.I honestly cannot tell the difference between the grapics on this and the graphics on the PS2 version.

Each time you win a game in the challenge mode, you unlock something new, which keeps the game exciting. Also, as long as you do not remove the game from the PSP, you can pick up right where you left off, which means you can get through a round quickly just by playing for a few minutes here and there. There are no long load times.Well worth the money and so far, one of the best PSP games currently available. ...
