Once you comprehend the purpose of the items bought/granted, converting items to power notes, planting items on another's bingo board, winning stars from the mini games to place on bingo board, trading crystals to buy power notes, and MOST IMPORTANTLY USING YOUR POWER NOTES CONSTANTLY DURING MINI GAMES TO ENHANCE YOUR WINNING CAPABILITIES, this game is right on the money.Speaking of money, for the lowered asking price of this game, you cannot go wrong. The sound, color, music and graphics are superb, crisp and pleasing. My 9 year old son has played this game for four days straight, and continues to enjoy it.He is pretty adept with game play controls and is an above average player, yet he would lose often and was not disappointed or discouraged--just resolved to conquering the particular minigame as you can PRACTICE as much as you want.I, too, have played a couple of full games with him and was not bored; neither was I angered by not winning much. The minigames are engrosing and quite fun; I do not regret buying this game. Pros:Practice Mode, MiniGame Explanations, Lengthy MiniGames, Enjoyable and Diverse Games; Graphics & Sound are Great Cons:Not for Under 6-Year Old Crowd Without an Adult; Mini-Games a Little on the Tough Side
The mini-games are fun once you figure out how to play them, but game play is lame. You don't get to roll dice and move along a board. Instead, there is a little roulette that determines where you go. You have to play a bingo-style game with items and stars and there are these items, "power notes" and gems to keep track of (I can't even explain it in a way that isn't extremely confusing). Overly convoluted, confusing, poorly designed and difficult to read - stay away from this and get Mario Party (4 or 5) or Shrek Party.

Pros: Create-a-team options, also you can raise points up for the ultimate team. High replay level.Even if you beat the game(isn't to hard), you can still play a friend, exibition, franchise, and a bunch of training games. Cons: The gameplay ins't realistic(if that's what your looking for) And there are too few movements, there should be combo moves like triple dekes and such. But this game is great, and ANYONE who's a fan of sports should get it.

Amazon.com Review Like most of Segas recent sports releases, NHL 2K3 hangs its hat on stellar gameplay and sweet graphics. Little, if anything, is overlooked: players move and react much like their real-life counterparts--goalies are especially acrobatic; the puck seamlessly glides, flips, and bounces around the rink and off the posts and goalies pads; players can be pinned to the boards during a scramble for the puck; missed shots are covered up by a diving goalie or slapped in off ensuing rebounds; arenas are painstakingly re-created and feature music and sounds specific to each. Off the ice, theres plenty of strategy and options to tinker with. NHL 2K3 boasts over 30 sliders to alter effects ranging from ice friction to referee collisions. And, of course, theres the franchise mode that allows up to 250 years of dynasty building. --Larry White (This review refers to the PlayStation2 version of this game) Reviews (6)
Simply put: This game rocks.

This latest version of Virtua Striker goes a long way towards being a great all-around soccer experience. The classic arcade feel is still very much intact, although the controls and player movement has been refined quite nicely. What really makes this game cool is the "Road to International Cup" mode, which lets you raise a team from scrubs to champs. It's a lot like the World Tour mode in Tennis 2K2, where you gain experience and work with schedules. It's always fun to have full control over your team, and this mode does a great job at that. So, if you like the arcade-style play of the VS series, you won't be disappointed with Virtua Striker 2002.

Virtua Striker 3 v.2002 on the GameCube will retain the DNA of the past Virtua Strikers in the series but will hopefully attempt to improve up the awkward controls of its predecessors. The game at this point in its development doesn't seem to improve up the controls of its previous efforts. The controls feel loose and fail to live to walk side by side with the games incredible visuals. Where Amusement Vision has impressed however is in the facade of the title. Going into a football game has never felt so intimidating in a soccer title before, with the impressive size of the well animated crowd barring down upon you and the usual pomp and National anthems associated with games of this sort. All the usual modes are included in this game, from a versus mode to a decent tournament mode. However we'll get to that later because the most important inclusion in Virtua Striker 3 v.2002 is a Road to the World cup mode. Within this mode players willl have to choose from one country from a pool of 64 and take that said country through to the world cup. The task isn't as that though, there's years left for you to play in the game. That's right, I said years. In the Road to World Cup mode the player must increase their teams abilities over a period of four years playing through preliminary matches, a group league and then search for glory in the final tournament. The team that the player builds during this mode can be used in any of the other modes in the game as well. Now you can finally pay back some of the teams that trounced you in the past with a carefully nurtured dream team. The other modes are standard soccer fare and shouldn't really throw up any surprises. International Cup is the same mode you'll see in any other soccer title you pick up in your local [retail store]. Pick one International team duke it out against 32 other teams for the International Cup (it wishes it was the world cup). Four groups of eight teams battle through to the last eight before the showdown between the final two challengingers. The next mode is a little more interesting though. The Tournament mode involes choosing your team to go into a tournament against four, eight or sixteen other countries. League mode is obvious. A league of either four, sixteen or thirty-two countries and challenge each other home and away. What is not so obvious is the fact that points are awarded for playing style which is an interesting little addition to spice up the mundane league mode (especially without real player names). Among the plethora of modes is Ranking mode which allows players to play against up to four cpu controlled teams. The results of the matches are then analyzed and you are given a rank. Finally there is your standard versus mode where you can go up against your friends as each of your repectd countries and let the dissing commence. Virtua Striker 3 v.2002 also features a create-player mode as well as editing abilities allowing fully customiseable football freaks or superhumans depending on your editing abilities. The game allows almost anything in site to be edited. Player names, uniforms, formations and even full teams can be created along with the kit color. The place in which the game really shines however is in the visual department. The stadiums are massive and contain the best itteration of a crowd since... well ever. The player models are extreemlly detailed and animate wonderfully. The GameCube doesn't have any problems drawing these high detail polygon models at 60fps. Detailed texturing and shadows add to the realism of the experience while incidental details such as grass blades ripping out the ground at every twist and turn. Finally a beautifully rendered sky and accurate uniforms will have you double checking you tv screens. Virtua Striker 3 v.2002 will arrive at a time when Fifa 2002 will have infitrated many home and ISS2 will be breathing down it's neck. The great aspect of it though is that the title should retain it's arcade roots and this may act as another advantage for the title. While others attempt imitate soccer right to the formations of actual managers Virtua Striker 3 for the GameCube looks to distance itself from the others with simplistic arcadey gameplay. Graphics, great! I can't belive they could do so good with it! 10/10 | |

Amazon.com Product Description Among the major enhancements to this version is the passing system--the core of any real soccer (football) game. It now emulates the same decisions made in a real match. Gamers can place the ball anywhere on the field of play, resulting in an immensely increased repertoire of developing plays. Teammates now make long up-field runs, diagonal runs through the midfield, and streaks across the back of an opponent's defense. They'll call for the ball as they break, letting you know to pass to the space ahead of them. EA Sports also totally rewrote the AI. The AI now searches for space and key weaknesses in your team's positioning, and will make off-the-ball runs or build up intelligent passing plays before striking a precise through ball behind your last line. Depending on the difficulty level, the AI will create a much more interesting and challenging opponent than in previous versions. Reviews (20)
It was great. I cant compare it to anyother soccer games cuz ive never played any others, but this was really fun. I love how its challenging and is so fast paced. The controls are simple and the graphics are pretty good. There is one thing thats a bummer. I know that FIFA has all the teams: national teams, club teams, and league teams. 2002 FIFA world cup has only national teams. There are about 40 contries, all seeking to win the World Cup. This game is made by EA Sports and it carries all of their quality. This game is awesome. It is a great alternative to FIFA. It may be better.
Oh yeah by the way: GO GERMANY!!! I hope that helped.

Amazon.com Review The game features just about every Winter Olympic sport worth watching: downhillalpine skiing, slalom skiing, bobsledding, half-pipe snowboarding, ski jumping, freestyle mogul skiing, speed skating, figure skating, and curling. Hockey isnotably absent from this list; the game developer rightly assumed that hockeyfans will be served by a dedicated hockey game such as NHL 2002. The included events use clever but simple control schemes, and the basics ofeach event are explained with a tutorial designed to quickly teach users how toperform the necessary actions and go about the business of breaking records. Forexample, ski jumping involves quickly pressing two buttons and then a third tojump, pressing the first two again to extend your distance and the third againto land. Bobsledding mainly demands a smooth touch of the digital stick, whilefigure skating is a choreographed event in which the player performs onscreenprompts. It's amusing that a game for such a fancy new system uses a controlscheme based on the old-school Track & Field arcade machine, but in thepast 20 years nobody has come up with a better way to simulate Olympic sport. While the controls may be dated, the graphics are unmistakably on the cuttingedge. The game looks brilliant, crisp, and pure as the day after a light snow. The snow fans up when skiers turn, and the polygonal athletes have excellentfacial graphics. The presentation is fantastic and so is multiplayer mode with abuddy. So, when Olympic fever strikes--even if the Olympics are long gone--you'll wantto have a copy of Konami's ESPN International Winter Sports 2002.--Bob Andrews --This text refers to the Xboxversion of the game. Pros: Reviews (17)
There is a lot of hitting buttons ala 80's Track and Field style Olympic games. The difficulty of the games is getting the timing down and either you like that kind of game or you don't. If you do, then this game offers a couple of good events -- moguls and halfpipe are probably the most interactive events. The downhill skiiing is difficult to control and is quickly annoying. It also doesn't help that the characters lack any personality. Part of the fun of Track and Field was that there was a myriad of countries to choose from -- that's just not here. The music during the game is also somewhat mellow -- which I find appealing. I'm not interested in being stimulated for hours on a game console so this game works in that regard. The best thing to do with this game is have a friend over, crack open something intoxicating, then give the game a try.

Amazon.com Product Description The three-man broadcast booth of Bob Brenly, Thom Brennaman, and Steve Lyons provides in-depth commentary. The Cooperstown Hall of Fame team features such sluggers from the past as Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, and Yogi Berra. All 30 major-league teams and more than 900 players are represented, all with official stadiums, logos, and uniforms. There are more than 50 stadiums from which to choose, including eight classic stadiums and 10 expansion stadiums. Reviews (25)
Of course, since 1999, all the All-Star games feature the same diffeent types of gameplay including: Exhibition, Season, Series, Home Run Derby, Batting Practice, Create A Player, etc. Well get ready All-Star lovers because this 2003 version has a brand new feature never seen before. The new feature is called "Expansion Mode." This mode allows you to build your own baseball team. First, you chose from over a dozen major cities througout the US that have never been used before such as: Dallas, Hartford, Birmingham, etc. Then you choose your team's new stadium with 6 never before used staiums. Then you choose the team's logo which includes everything from: Aviators - Tornadoes. Then of course you have a player draft to put your team together and make it come alive. The last thing is choose your league either National or American. This features is awsome! A new minor feature is in Season mode. First of all, you can create your own player and put him on the team roster before you start a season. Remember you couldn't create another player once your in Season mode? Well on this one you can! Anytime during the season you can create another player and add him to your roster. Another small feature is the Weather Forecast. On the main menu of your season there is an icon that says Weather Forecast. When you enter this option it shows you all the forecasts for all the scheduled games for that particular day. There is a huge US map that has a star on the location you're looking at the forecast for. It Below it displays the game of who versus who, the day's high and low temps with a weather picture next to it such as: Rain, Sunny, Cloudy, Overcast, etc. Then it displays the current temp, and also the wind speeds along with the precipitation percentage. This is a real cool feature. The gameplay is outstanding. The game features accurately updated player batting and pitching stances. Also it features new throwing and fielding manuevers more and more like real life. The faces are so incredibly detailed that you actually think you're at the game! The stadiums look 10x better than ever before and also include the new stadiums for Expansion mode, Batting Practice and Home Run Derby. However, there is a bit of a downside to the game's gameplay which is why I rated the game 4 stars instead of 5. In all the All-Star games the cathes are a little off to the side and not exactly lined up with the glove. That is basically the only downside to the game. Other than that this game is undoubtably amazing. This is the best of the All-Star series yet and it just keeps getting better and better from here. It's all up from here on!

There are so many glitches with it also. The announcers continually say the wrong player names, and sometimes say the team names wrong. The gameplay is also very below par.You can score on every play using the hail mary with a fast receiver. When players don't catch the ball, the ball bounces off of them like it was flubber. Get Madden 2002 instead. It looks better, has a franchise mode, has a better create a player option, and is overall a lot funner (which is what really matters).
