Along the way, you will encounter many obstacles such as a dog that will chase you down, cars, tornadoes, remote-control cars, and many other enemies that will do anything they can to knock you off your bike. However, you do have a defensive move that can protect you against a few of your enemies, and that is to hit them with a newspaper in order to stun them for awhile. Also, while you're trying to get the day's paperwork done, you can rack in some extra points by throwing newspapers at certain items such as your non-subscribers' windows, garbage cans, and trees.Just make sure you don't run out of newspapers. If you do good enough during the level and pass it, you will have the chance to go through a fun bonus level where you hit targets and have to maneuver your bike over ramps and past moving walls. For the Game Boy, "Paperboy" has good graphics, satisfying sound and music, and easy-to-learn controls. If you have a regular Game Boy, I definitely recommend getting "Paperboy" for it, it's one of the funnest games you could get and it never gets old.
I'd recommend getting this game if you likethe Paperboy games or if you like non-stop action games. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review To have any success in F-Zero, great reflexes and a memory fortrack detail are absolute musts. While the controls are responsive, ingeneral the frictionless racing means that almost all cars have asuitably loose feel to them, and require skilled pilots to handlecorners. Be warned that gamers with adult-size thumbs may be in for avery painful experience due to the constant mashing of the GBA'sshoulder buttons. When you get bored of racing the computer, you cantake on up to four opponents via the link cable--and unlike multiplayerGame Boy games, only one cartridge is needed. While F-Zero features many tracks and skill levels, beyond thesimplistic (yet challenging) racing, there isn't much depth.Fortunately, the silky smooth animation and detailed graphics shouldkeep fans of speedy arcade racers taxing their thumbs long afterthey've brought home the checkered flag. --Mark Brooks Pros: Reviews (140)

As adventure games go this one is pretty straight forward and doesn't require a mensa membership to make significant progress. The bulk of the tasks in the game are not too hard to figure out, yet there are a few stumpers in there as well. Gameplay is clear. You can move the main character around the current screen and either interact with other characters, manipulate objects, or go to other screens. The GBA rendering is nice. There are some dialog scenes which are easy to speed through if you wish although you occasionaly get critical information via dialog. There is one scene in which having the sound turned up might provide some value.Towards the end of the adventure, gameplay is not just puzzles but also reacting quickly to events. Some dislikes: This is a good game to play and will definitely keep you entertained. It is easy enough to keep you engaged but hard enough to make you work for it.
overall:
The background is gorgeous, all hand drawn, the commentary is funny and witty, (press "B" on objects, some comments can be really hilarious like on the seats in the church in Paris)The plot can be surprisingly tense, and suspenseful, esspecially when you discover you can die, so save often. If you liked this game, I'd definately suggest the book "Saving the Queen" by William F. Buckley, its just as good, but our hero is with the CIA and deals with some good old fashioned "Cold War" stuff, instead of Knights of the round table.Even if you don't read much or dissagree with WFB's politics, PLEASE READ!!! You don't know what your missing.

Amazon.co.uk Scroll up and down the job sheet menu to pick a task, and whether it's Mrs.Potts's fence, the town hall roof, feeding Pilchard, or fixing a wall with muck,it will keep the little ones busy for hours. Each smiley machine has his ownadventure for Bob to take part in, and the graphics are superb (as in all BBCchildren's games), clearly replicating these extremely popular characters. The controls are simple and intuitive, and the enclosed instructions areillustrative and clear, taking players through the games one step at a time. They also include a number of handy hints in case building doesn't come asnaturally to everyone as it does to Bob. For little ones who are pestering parents to buy them video games, this title isa great opportunity to combine education with entertainment. Young children willwhile away long car or plane journeys quite happily without even realizingthey're learning about shapes and patterns, numbers and letters, and tidying upand fixing things, as well as developing their hand-eye coordination andreasoning and concentration skills. (The value is much the same as when childrenuse an educational CD-ROM.) For Bob fans everywhere, or youngsters who love using their older brother's orsister's Game Boy, Bob the Builder: Fix-It Fun lives up to its BBCcredentials: it is safe, fun, and educational. It's also the kind of video gameevery parent is looking to find. --Lucie Naylor Reviews (6)
Secondly, each level rewards you with a password. You re-enter this password whenever you start playing which brings you back to your current level. This would be fine if the child knew how to read and told me about the password, but he since he can't he just skips right over it and the password is lost. He needs to start from square one each time. Which leads to the next problem.... You have to accomplish 10 tasks (aquire 10 passwords) before you get to play with Scoop. This is so discouraging for my son because he loves Scoop. It's his favorite character and the only one he is interested in playing with. He's also the hardest to master. So if you don't write down those passwords and help your child enter them, they'll never get to play with Scoop. How nice it would have been if the game had automatically saved your level each time you played. Is that too much to ask for in a preschool game?
I think this game is poorly conceived and executed because Once my son is reading, I'm fairly certain he will no longer be interested in Bob The Builder.

Editorial Review Catching fish may not be as exciting as rounding up hundreds ofdifferent types of Pokémon, but it is surprisingly satisfying. Asthe game progresses, players gain access to different fishing poles, various types of bait, and other fishing accessories that let them landthe bigger and more exotic catches. The role-playing elements are fairlylightweight, so hardcore RPG fans will likely be more amused thanchallenged. Still, these elements do help break up the monotony of thefishing tasks. There's even an entertaining virtual pet game that letsyou hatch a fish and raise it. It thrives or dies depending on theamount and type of attention it gets, and even mutates into new speciesdepending on the environment you establish for it. Legend of theRiver King is more relaxing than exciting, just as a good fishinggame should be. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (7)
There are two modes to this game: Raise and Fish. The raise portion is interesting because you get to set up a fish tank, feed and care for your fish and watch him/her grow.As the fish grows it morphs into different types of fish.If you take good care of your fishy you get to watch it change and grow.Yippie (read: boring). The "fish" mode is your typical adventure game; you have to catch certain types of fish and give them to chattering people who stand around the water's edge.Fishing is HARD...but the booklet has some pointers (and a map that shows where the different kinds of fish hang out). When a fish circles around your line and you hear a sustained beep, then it's time to reel him in.Push the A button and you'll see an underwater view.Wait until the fish stops swimming away--he'll tire pretty quickly--once he stops, push and hold A to reel him in.If he pulls back, then let go of A and let him run away for a little while.Once he tires again, repeat the reeling process.Eventually you'll catch one.If the fish steals the bait, then try a different size hook or a different type of rod.It took me ages to figure out how to catch the darn cutthroat trout! You can also catch random fish and sell them in the shop to get gold. Then you can take your gold to the shop and buy supplies, bait & equipment. You'll eventually get a raft so you can float and fish at the same time.Don't bother paddling your raft because you'll collapse and be sent to the hotel with only 1 health point remaining. Doesn't that sound fun?? This game is a little too much like real fishing (without the beer and sunshine). You cast your line and wait...and wait...and wait.ARGH!Your patience will be drained quickly. I like video games because my attention span is short and I need all the quick-action/reaction stuff. This game makes me YAWN (a cure for insomnia?).There are action-packed moments when you have to fight spiders, monkeys, bears, snakes and other foes; those fights are incredibly dull. The fight works like this: a little fist image floats around your foe and if you hit the A button when the fist is on the animal, you get a hit (a hit to the head defeats most foes quickly). You'll get experience points by defeating foes, but I still haven't figured out what experience points do for you. If you like real fishing and you have reserves of patience, then you'd probably like this game.I don't *hate* it, I just wish it was more exciting; maybe that's why I don't ever go fishing. ... Editorial Review While this reviewer was initially a bit skeptical about the quality of the game (which seems to have beencreated solely to cash in on the popularity of the twosome), it is, in fact, surprisingly good. Gamers mustwander through multiple arcade levels in an attempt to solve each of five separate mysteries. In order towin each level, you'll have to use your wits to open locked cages and doors containing vital clues.Mary-Kate, Ashley, and the crime-biting dog Clue must cooperate with each other to complete each level. For example, each character has a special skill that is best suited for solving a specific arcade challenge. Inmany cases, you'll need to figure out which combination of special character moves to use in order to finda new clue. The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley is strangely addictive and unexpectedly fun. Fans ofthe Olsen twins will want to pick this up, while nonfans may want to sneak a peek when no one else islooking. --Brett Atwood Pros: Reviews (18)

Amazon.com Review Featuring 150 different wrestlers from which to choose, each with his or her ownmoves and finishers--as well as the option to combine more than 1,200 techniquesand styles to create your own grapplers for the 3-D isometric ringside--FirePro Wrestling doesn't lack variety. You can even link up your GBA unit tofight against your friends or trade wrestlers you've created. You can also play against the computer, which turns out to be a pretty goodopponent. The game takes full advantage of both the A and B and the shoulderbuttons, so the control is solid. Getting used to the time delay for punches andkicks can be frustrating, however. The manual does an excellent job in teachingyou the tremendous variety of moves, and once you've learned what you can do,the gameplay is extremely satisfying. About the only thing lacking from the game is familiar personalities. Inoffering so many fighters, each seems rather bland, and one is often a thinvariation on the last. Of course, your own imagination can let you add aRock-like or Mankind-esque wrestler, if that's what you want. Anyway, it's good funfor a handheld. Can you smell what your Game Boy is cookin'? --Andrew S.Bub Pros: Reviews (41)
select EDIT SUPERSTAR go to NAME ENTRY. on the first line type ALL on the line below it type STYLES and on the line next to that type CLEAR. This should unlock all the hidden wrestlers.
FPW offers a generic line up of wrestlers. You can pick from 16 different organizations, including a free agent pool. The names on the wrestlers are pretty generic, ranging from The Bionic Man to Mauler. I was going to discount this as another bland roster until I discovered the create-a-wrestler option. This game has the most detailed create-a-wrestler I have ever seen. You are allocated 260 points, which seems more than enough at first glance. Everything you enhance on your wrestler takes points. You can customize everything from their recovery time to what attacks are their strongest. You can even customize their AI fighting style. This is definitely the best create-a-character yet. The feel of the game is not what I expected. FPW reverts to the old Tag Team Wrestling (NES) style of play. Pressing directions at certain times and tapping a button will determine your moves. It is a simplistic style, but also annoying when you hit the wrong button. FPW lacks the ability to run straight. You can only run in a diagonal direction, meaning that your charge moves must be very well placed. As for the graphics, I was pleased with the smoothness of motion. Overall, I believe this is a should rent title. It is not the greatest, but there is definitely some value to the game. I liked it, but I can not see myself playing it four months from now. ... Amazon.com Review Users can select from a variety of rules, including time limits, count outs, pinning victories, submission victories, and hard-core rules. The action takesplace in six arenas that mimic the various WWF television shows and pay-per-viewevents. Best of all, the game supports a link cable, allowing up to four playersto participate in the mayhem. The gameplay is surprisingly deep. The simple controls allow for more than 40moves, including signature finishers. When each wrestler enters the ring histheme music plays to a slick video montage, much like it does on the WWFTitanTron. Unfortunately, the music that plays during the action will get onyour nerves. The character models are good, but the animation is a little off, making the wrestlers move in a jerky fashion. Also detracting from the game'sflow are moments when the opponent's artificial intelligence seems to blank out, making him stand around for a few seconds. That said, these flaws are relativelyminor compared to the depth and variety that's packed into this cartridge. Youcan finally enjoy the larger-than-life superstars of the WWF in the palm of yourhand. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Reviews (22)

Editorial Review The object is still to destroy as many of Earth's cities as possible. The new mutants stomping theblock--Curtis the rat, Boris the rhino, and Ruby the lobster--are every bit as hungry as their predecessorsfrom the successful multiplatform Rampage series, and they're just as hacked off. In one-playermode, choose one of the mutants and devour your way through scores of Earth's most famous cities. Or linkup with another Game Boy Color for an excellent two-player cooperative mode. But beware while you're stomping buildings and cars and munching on the world's populace, becausemilitary forces are out to stop you. For extra points (and fun), smash the tanks, bombers, helicopters, androbots that come after you. The more people you snack on--soldiers and civilians alike--the healthier you'llstay. Mutants have to stick together, so rescue the aforementioned veteran monsters for special bonuses.--Bill Hutchens Pros: Reviews (5)
