5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great game for rookies, champs, and bored kids!
This game is fun, exciting, and easy to learn how to play. I got this for Christmas last year, and I still love to play.Trust me, I have a very short attention span and a complex mind and found this game great.

Pros:
*cool monsters to raise
*tournaments to win
*many secret breeds to unlock
*many tasks to accomplish
*lots of monsters to pick from
*challenging for pro gamers
*enjoyable for untalented gamers
*rules aren't confusing
*good graphics

Cons:
*people talk a lot
*monsters only have 4-5 year life spans

This game is varied so that a variety of people can enjoy. At first it is Ahhh, uhhh, okay. Then once you understand, it becomes great fun.

I had this game in fifth grade and my friend and I shared so much laughter and good memories. This is a good game for anyone, so try it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but repetative
I played both Monster Rancher Advance I & II.Certainly, it is neat to enter random sequences of letters and numbers to generate new monsters. The story is reasonable strong although slow paces.Unfortunately, I found the game tedious after a while. The challenge of training monsters wears thin after about the 1ooth time.It is particularly frustrating when your monster is forced into retirement just before completing a battle that would advance the story. Also, the time frame is somewhat unrealistic, I figure that my game lasted about 100 years or so (within the game). Each monster lasts roughly 4 years and it took me about 25-30 monsters to complete the game. Although monsters age your character and other characters in the game do not.I played this through to the climatic battle, and while that was cool I'm not sure it was enough pay-off.If you like doing the same thing hundreds of times, this game is for you.If you like a good story and can tolerate doing the same thing over and over, you might enjoy it too.

5-0 out of 5 stars The PERFECT game!
I've played Monster Rancher 3 (for Ps2), and I think this game is better because 1. Regenerating monsters is easier, 2. You can go exploring, 3. It's easier to earn sertain monsters (Dragon, Durahan, etc.),and 4. Monsters don't die, they can retire or turn into coaches, so you can train your other monsters more effectively.

On the other hand, on Monster Rancher 3 1. food is cheaper, 2. You can battle your rivals more often, and 3. you can train in different places.

They're both good games, but you don't need to use other games to regenerate monsters on MRA 2, and you can take it anywhere. That's good enough for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Monster Rancher Advance 2
The agme starts out with good game play, but after a while you lose the needed story line. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Boy game ever; second best Zelda game ever
With The Minish Cap coming out soon, and looking to be another disappointment (I will reserve final judgment until I actually play it, but it has a definite Wind Waker vibe), the handheld gamer would do well to revisit this classic. The gameplay is incredible and compelling and the story is perhaps the best in the series; the only two faults with this game are minor for any true gamer. The graphics aren't very good; the sprites are simply poorer-quality A Link to the Past sprites oftentimes, but the game is so good one will hardly notice. The sound effects are pretty poor, but, thankfully, there's always the music to compensate for that...and what good music.

It feels like ALttP, looks like it, plays like it, and is second only to that excellent SNES game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unstoppable!!!
I borrowed this game from a friend and I couldn't put it down! YOU HEAR ME?! I was playing for three hours straight until I had to give it back.I was at the end of Face Shrine.GET THIS GAME.It's worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars fun but frusterating game
I think that this is a really fun game and all, but it is really frusterating trying to get past that seventh level. If anyone has some advice for me it would be really appreciated. The reason I rate this game with four stars overall is because of the thought they put into making it but it would have been five stars if it had anything to do with the fabled princess Zelda from the other games. But this game is ultimatley fun and anyone who hasn't tried it should try it.Another game or two people should try is The Legand of Zelda a Link to the Past, The Legand of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and The Legand of Zelda Majora's Mask.Personally I've beaten all the games listed there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Legend of Zelda:Link's Awakening DX.....
Link's Awakening is probably the best Gameboy version of Zelda ever. Although, that is left to ones' opinion....It is in my opinion, however, to be.
The game begins with Link waking up in a hut. He is told by the locals that to leave and go back to Hyrule, he must awaken the Wind Fish. It lives inside an egg on top of a nearby mountain and can only be lulled from its' sleep by playing eight magical instruments. You spend your time trying to round up these eight instrumants but, in order to do so, you have to endure varying types of puzzles, traps and enemies. Each puzzle you're faced with has a logical solution, and you'll only come across a few situations that will require you to leave and get new items from the outside. Koholint Island, is big(by Gameboy standards anyhow) - even more so when you consider the hidden underground passageways, dungeons, and waterways so you'll have plenty of exploring to do with alot of secrets to uncover. You'll definitely spend countless hours playing this game.
Gameboy Color/Gameboy Advance owners are granted access to an all-new exclusive dungeon(although it isn't required or necessary to complete the game) plus those with a Gameboy printer get a photo scrapbook of Link's adventures that you can copy...hence the DX(deluxe) added at the end of the title of this version.
This is one classic that shouldn't be missed. If you've played any of the other Legend of Zelda games, you owe it to yourself to check it out. You don't know what you're missing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Winner!Best Game Boy Game
Before Game Boy Advance, there was Game Boy.On Game Boy, there was Link's Awakening. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was the best game for Game Boy at the time, and still remains much more than a simple piece of nostalgia. Will Link's Awakening's graphics turn you off? They are still crisp today, and the color version should alleviate some of the dated aspects of LA's graphics, but don't expect 32-bit goodness that we might see in a GBA Zelda game. The sound is traditional Zelda fare with some now-classic tunes; this was the game that introduced the now popular "instrument" item that does neat stuff for you.

Make no mistake about it - Link's Awakening is a great game, a force to be reckoned with, and a savior for kids on long car trips. The puzzles in this game were particularly good, the storyline was new and refreshing, and the game was really fun.Replay value is high even though you will face the same dungeon challenges, but one time through this game might be enough since its length is decent even by today's standards. If you don't own a GBA, definitely buy this game.If you own a GBA..definitely buy this game anyway.Play it and love it.

This review refers to the DX version that was released on Game Boy Color, but it is not worth owning independently of the original game boy version.Certainly, if buying this game today, get the DX version. If you just really love Link's Awakening, don't overkill it - owning both is just silly. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Back to the Future!20 years ago!
Remember when video games were in the arcades, and you had a pocket full of quarters? When Chuck E. Cheese was your favorite restaurant, and Aladdin's Castle was a place to hang out not a locale in a Disney flick? If you do this game is for you! In it you will find faithful reproductions of Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout, and Tempest. No updates, no "arrangements", just straight up video games from the early 80s.

Most people have noticed the controls are an issue, and I agree they do hinder you sometimes.Missle Command and Centipede were designed for a track ball, and Super Breakout really needs a paddle.Using the directional pad takes some getting used to.I ended up playing this more on my GameBoy Player for the GameCube which made them a little easier.

But fans of these now primitive games/then innovative will be glad to see them again in any form. The games are simple and immediately playable and addictive.I am a fan of the retro games, and this package has some great ones.I love being able to play ASTEROIDS just as it was in the arcades - a bunch of white lines on a black screen with just a bass line going the whole time!Even the Atari 2600 improved on it with color!

You have to see this for what it is - the dawn of video games. Its nostalgia, a living museum where you can go back to a time when video games were mainly in arcades. You won't see dazzling graphics or complicated missions to complete.Mainly geometric shapes firing dots at each other.:-)But for some reason I love the games for being simple.Just shoot and stay alive as long as you can.And no tokens!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was eagerly anticipating being able to play some of my favorite arcade games from the early 1980s.Unfortunately, the reality of playing them on a Gameboy is sorely disappointing.

The trackball-based games, Centipede and Missile Command, are the biggest letdowns.Using the Gameboy's directional control to emulate a trackball just doesn't work.Centipede works adequately at first, but the inability to make swift moves quickly becomes a handicap.Missile Command is just unplayable. In the arcade version I would typically get a five-figure score; on the Gameboy I'm lucky to make it past the first level.

Battlezone is okay, but the small screen makes targeting much too difficult.I never played Super Breakout in the arcades, but as with Missile Command, the awkward controls make it nearly impossible.Asteroids and Tempest are probably the most successful of the bunch, but that isn't saying much.

The Atari trivia game is just bizarre.Do people really know the names of Atari's designers?

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Retro Reproductions
Both the look and sound have been captured perfectly in this Gameboy Advance version of Atari Ainniversary. Asteroids is perfect down to the look of the high scores. Same goes for the rest of the games---truly amazing considering how small the Gameboy screen is, but every detail is there. The only difference is in the control pad since all of the original games had different types of controls. But once you adapt and get used to the Gameboy controller, this is fun play for retro gamers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Atari Avanced: by Jeff
Atari Advanced is a great game. It has six different classic arcade games so its hard to get bored of it because you have such a variety. The controls are very easy and simple so you can spend time playing not figuring out controls. The graphics arent good, but its really fun and thats all that matters. You can play exiting arcade games w/o having to pay a quarter every time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gaming Returns to Basics
If you compare against today's games, this might garner a 3-star. However, I really like some of the old games because they require more than many games today. This is a very good replica, so it garners a 5-star rating. My favorite is BattleZone (I spit on the recent arcade version of it). It requires good timing, precision and good use of resources (no, you cannot merely holding down on the fire button forever). These simple games beat 70% of the games on the market. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Goodfella
Mortal Combat: Tournament Edition rocks! It's just like the original. Although, I'm finding it difficult to use "fatality" when you have to "finish him or her" I use Johnny Cage, Nitara, Raiden, and Scorpion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Portable MK At it's best
Without a doubt this is the best Portable MK Game To Date. for those who never played the older MK gameboy games lets just say mnay of them were lacking in different areas (except MK2 And MK:DA). Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition is more or less everything from the regual console version of MK;DA taht didnt make it into the GBA version. Thats a good thing. It still has the mini Krypt. and features a total of 15 warriors. many of which are hidden. 3 of which are not at all in the MK DA Console Or GBA game. 1 of which has never been in a MK fighting game 9however they were in MKM; Sub-Zero. the action game). all in all there more then enough to keep u busy for a while and its game worth it. The controls are very smooth. not the same as the regual MKDA Console Controls, but not at all in a bad way. I My self have 2 copies of this game i liked it so much.althow there are no alternate costumes there is differnt color combos to give each warrior. for example; scorpions costume can be chnaged from regualr yellow to grey (smoke), green (reptile), red (ermac). and a few others. on the secrets menuthe alternate colors are listed as
scorpion: smoke
scorpion: reptile
scorpion; ermac
exe. so they were obviously meant to be used as alternate warriors (seeing as reptile and smoke have used scorpions moves in the past this owrks out great) also cyrax has an alternate Grey/purple color listed as "Smoke" so seeing as theres 2 smoke costumes in the agme i supsoe he counts as another extra warrior.
Test your sight and test your might are in here as well.
over all the game is VERY VERY VERY VERY Underrated. I recomend this game to anyomne who wants a portable Fighting game.supriseingly this agme can be connected via the GBA Game cable to a copy of MK:DA. unfortunalty only 3 warriors cane be used. they are the only 3 warriors that appear in both games.
and for the Sub-Zero Fanatics out there let me say HE'S NOT HERE!!. However Reptile Is. For those of you who like Mk for the storyline let me say this. one of the hidden warriors has an ending which involves the death of goro. it's very strange that a Minor Portable title would contain such a major plot point. weather or not it will stay canon only time will tell. but it's worth checking out.
over all it get;'s a perfect 10. a rareity for a Portable Title.
and thats saying something.

3-0 out of 5 stars good not great
it was fun, but i found it extremely hard, or maybe i just suck at fighting games but it could be cool when it wanted to be.

5-0 out of 5 stars this game is of the hezzy!
man this game is cold! my favorite character on there is kung lao.i hope in mortal kombat 6 midway will put sarreena, noob saibot, and sektor in it. and on tournament edition,if midway wanted people to love this game like a brother, the should have put the weapon fighting styles in it.and put liu kang and goro and shao kahn in tournament edition.but overall, this game is the best since mortal kombat 4.

4-0 out of 5 stars A continuation of Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance GBA
Mortal Kombat Tournament is basically a revamped "Deadly Alliance."

"Deadly Alliance" was a an excellent fighter that featured several characters from the Mortal Kombat universe. There are many different fighting styles, fatalities (the final death blows for each character) and so on. MK Tournament is basically the same thing with different characters- althoughmuch more fantastic(there is a robot, a vampire, a lizard creature as oppose to the regular human fighters).

There are things I dislike about Tournament. Some of the backgrounds and the sound effects are the same as Deadly alliance (Midway could have made some different sound effects). There are some new features like "Race to Raiden" and "Tag Team" but its nothing mindblowing. Tournament is much more geared to multiplayer modes so it would help to have a friend you can play against.

Ultimately, I am recommending this game just because the previous game it's based on is an excellent fighter. If you already have Deadly Alliance, you may want to wait till the price drops a bit to get this one (Of course, If you are a die-hard Mortal Kombat fan, then by all means get it). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The bestd graphicson GBA
I like this game because have a solid graphics, good entretaiment is a good opcion for a saturdaynight.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun game, but a little hard.
Over all, this was a fun game. But as my title says it was hard. I think that most people will get stuck on leval 2 as I did. (Hint: if you get far enough before time runs out you beat the leval.)With 14 fun levals it's a good game.

1-0 out of 5 stars hard
This game is hard. I couldn't beat the second level. the graphics are good but it takes forever for a person to get the password. I didn't even get the password. If you like challening games, go ahead and try this game. But i say save your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great shoot-em-up
I bought this game so that I could fly my favorite ship from the Star Wars trilogy and blast tie fighters.I got what I was looking for. This game offers up some great action, awesome scenery, and spectacular space battles.

The view is third person from behind your vehicle, and the action is fast and furious arcade style.Controls are easy to master. You can move your vehicle in any direction, speed up, slow down, and fire primary and secondary weapons.A small target crosshair in the distance aids in lining up shots.

While most of the game features the Millennium Falcon, there are other vehicles you have to pilot.Luke's landspeeder, an X-Wing fighter, and a speeder bike. The first level starts us off with the Millennium Falcon approaching Tatooine, and you have to shoot down tie fighters that are coming after you.The remainder of the game showcases Luke's landspeeder navigating the streets of Mos Eisely spaceport, the Falcon traversing a desert canyon while shooting down probe droids, the attack on the Death Star, the asteroid field, a strange level where the Falcon chases Boba Fett's ship though Bespin's cityscape, the escape from the super Star Destroyer, the chaotic battle over Endor, a speeder bike chase, and the assault on the second Death Star.

The space battles are intense, with waves of tie fighters coming in, and flybys over Star Destroyers and the rebel fleet. This game is a great 3D shoot-em-up.Some of the other levels are obstacle courses. The Death Star trench is filled with crossbeams and turrets, making it a pretty challenging obstacle course to maneuver through. The asteroid field is what one might expect.Avoid the asteroids while shooting at the tie fighters. The final level has the Falcon maneuvering through the interior of the second Death Star. The reactor core and its defenses make for a nice end-game boss.

Visually, the game is impressive. The scenery is absolutely fantastic.Especially the spaceport, forest, and space-going vistas above planets.Tie fighters look like little blips when they're far away, but they look great up close when they fly by.There are normal tie fighters, tie bombers, and tie interceptors.Out in space, there's some notable pop-up.I was surprised when the first Star Destroyer just sort of popped onto the screen. When you get closer, the Star Destroyers look fabulous. The scenery in the spaceport and forest is great, sporting some nice detail. The Falcon looks good, as does the X-Wing.

This game performs just as well in the sound department. All of the familiar themes from the movies are present, and the game does an admirable job with them. The effects are awesome.Tie fighter laser blasts sound exactly like they're supposed to.So does everything else, from the Death Star's turrets to the Falcon's engines as it speeds up.A Chewbacca roar accompanies the selecting of an option.Han Solo says "You're all clear, kid!" when you approach the exhaust port, and Lando Calrissian says "Here goes nothing" as you enter the interior of the second Death Star.A nice touch.

This game is pretty hard. It's not a game you can zip through on your first try.It takes some getting used to, and it takes practice. You're given a limited number of lives, and a few continues.Four-character passwords are given out at the end of each episode. The first level is pretty easy; then the challenges begin.Be prepared to crash into walls many times before mastering the obstacle courses.

There are few details I really like about this game.In some of the levels, you don't crash if you fly into the floor (like, while flying over the surface of the Death Star).Instead, the game just places a limit on how low you can go.You also don't have to worry about crashing into a canyon wall or a side wall of a trench. In some of the levels, your vehicle only takes damage from hitting obstacles (as opposed to an instant death).I like this as well.Of course, a head-on crash with something usually results in an instant death; but not always.I was ramming head-on into trees during the speeder bike chase, and I was only taking damage.Speaking of which, this is the best speeder bike level I've seen in a game.It looks great, plays great, and is a lot of fun.

Completing the game gives a password that unlocks a bonus game. It's an old-fashioned, side-scrolling shoot-em-up where you fly the Falcon and shoot down tie fighters.Pretty cool.

I have just a few complaints with this game. The Star Destroyer pop-up leaves something to be desired.Would've been nicer if you could see it approaching in the distance. The Falcon's dogfight with the tie fighters after the escape from the Death Star is conspicuously absent. And there are some cheap shots near the end as prevalent tie bombers fly into view from behind. If you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll crash into one of them.

All said and done, I had a great time with Flight Of The Falcon. It's a fun shoot-em-up with great graphics, beautiful scenery, awesome sound effects, and some engaging game-play.The faults here are few, and the strengths are many.My verdict:thumbs way up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
When I first saw this game I was excited because I loved playing SimCity 2000 on the Sega Saturn.Unfortunately, instead of just downsizing and porting the game to the Gameboy Advance, they added stuff from the newer SimCity games. The controls aren't that good and the manual tells you nothing - which is that way for pretty much every EA game so no surprise there. It still is mildly entertaining for about a half hour or forty-five minutes at a time.If you were hoping for this game being like the older SimCity 2000 games on the Saturn or the Playstation, you will be somewhat disappointed with this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars I Expected ALOT MORE
This game sucks I Havent even bought this game but my cousin did and when he came over I tried it, Its THE crappiest game ever. When ever you have a fire in your city you can only put a limited amount of firefighters on the scene(about 10)and when an alien attacks your town (how stupid is that!) You can only put about 8 firefighters and cops are limited to!+ You start with about 15000 (not alot)

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Hard, and sometimes frustrating, but still kind of fun. PC versions are much better, like Sim City 4 Deluxe. This is for only select people who like this kind of game. Features aren't great and it has confusing and hard controls. The idea is good but it could be better.
By the way, SimCity 4 Deluxe is one of the best PC games ever.

2-0 out of 5 stars STICK WITH THE COMPUTER!
Ok this one was ok but it takes along time to scroll and where have the cars gone? Very tedious disasters such as the earthquake, screen shakes a little and that's it! ANd no highways or signs, and when you build things it gets this stupid "Loding" screen and what the heck where they trying to tell with the bumble bee? Also there is not much fun in it and the menu music sucks. Take a PC or Mac version of this, they are much better.

3-0 out of 5 stars okay
it kinda glitches during disastors and while saving which can be very annoying. It can get very annoying because it takes so long to move places.the pc version is much much better. If you really need to play this game while on the go buy it but if you have a computer buy the pc version.I dont think they have the big buildings that hold thousands of people it got boring before i could find out.... I GUESS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS I DONT LIKE IT.YOU MIGHT BUT I DOUBT IT. ... Read more

The Megaman Zero series is Capcom's attempt to revive the beloved Megaman X series. However, instead of X you get to play as Zero. But what is the game really like? Well, that's easy. It's unbelievably good, and much better than Mega Man Zero. All the tough, retarded stuff in Zero 1 is reworked, from the crappily done Cyber Elf system to the linear, one boss at a time and never get to try again level select system. Now you select a boss from among the four "current bosses" (don't worry, there's only two sets) and play the level over and over until you beat him. Although you can't return to the stage select screen, it's much better than in Zero 1 where if you got game over on a level, you could never play it again and were basically screwed. The Cyber Elves are now fed and downloaded by talking to Ciel, and they are also much easier to level up as well, in terms of Energy Crystals.

The game is much easier than its predecessor, a good thing since I personally found Zero 1 to be frustratingly cheap at times. Although people who mastered Zero 1 will probably breeze through it in a couple hours, newcomers to the series will be amply challenged yet given a good chance to succeed once they have figured out the order in chich to defeat the first four bosses (trust me, there is one. You COULD beat the bosses in whichever order you please, but the game will be quite a bit more difficult). Individual enemies are simple to defeat; you can shoot them a few times or slice 'em in half with your
Z-saber. However, both the bosses and the minibosses require clever combo attacks to beat, as well as a good understanding of their attack patterns. Perhaps the only time the difficulty is messed up is the last boss, who is one of the easiest in the game.

And maybe because the difficulty is so well balanced, this is an easy game to enjoy. RPG gamers will like the plot twists and move varieties while action lovers will derive pure joy out of such moments as pulling an enemy right next to you with the Grappling hook only to cut them in two with the Z-saber. It's also great when you feel that rush of satisfaction after killing a particularly hard boss and watching the two halves of him drift apart from the effects of your Z-saber.

Visually and in terms of sound the game shines. I've probably mentioned about three times already that when you slice and enemy with your sword it actually slices him into two parts, and for a brief moment you can see the circuitry inside him before the two parts clatter to the floor and explode. Everything else also animates extremely smoothly, and the backgrounds are vibrant and well drawn. The sound effects are about average, but the music is really good. The music always fits the mood of the scene, and the background music in the levels themselves pumps you up and almost improves your reflexes (or maybe it's just the sweat running down your back after playing for two hours and trying to get an A rank in every level). I cannot remember a time when the graphics or sound effects didn't satisfy me.

Overall, this is a gem of a game that should appeal to a wide variety of different gamers. Unless you despise having fun, you'll probably like this game. And by the way, the ultimate bad guy turns out to be one of the last people you'd expect, mainly because once you beat him, if you think about it, it's really obvious why that person is bad enough to be the last boss. That obviousness will proabably having you scratching your head up until the last minute. This game is some tight stuff; enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Mega Man game has never been better.
Mega Man Zero 2 is one of the better GBA games to come in a while. It is also one of those rare moments where the sequel more than surpasses the original. In fact, Mega Man Zero 2 surpasses its predecessor in almost every way possible.

The game takes place one year after the first Mega Man Zero. The game begins with Zero wandering through the desert looking for the resistance base when he is suddenly ambushed by the enemy. He lives long enough to get to the resistance base where his weapons are fixed and he's ready to battle the threat of Neo Arcadia once more.

The game has a story similar to the Mega Man X series and the previous Mega Man Zero game.Neo Arcadia, a faction built by humans, wants to "retire" all the reploids (by retire they mean destroy) since they see the robots as a future threat. With peace nearly in reach, Elpizom the new resistance leader seems set on destroying Neo Arcadia. But Elpizo and Zero, you'll quickly learn have different views on what a Utopia should be.

The gameplay isn't much different from Mega Man Zero.Zero can do all the same abilities he did in the last one.He can dash, jump and use any of four weapons of his choice.Zero's four weapons consists of his Z-Buster, Z-Saber, Chain Rod and Shield Boomerang. Each has its own properties, for example the Z-Buster allows Zero to attack long range but the cost is he doesn't do much damage. The Z-Saber allows him to deal massive damage but he needs to be right in the enemies face. The Chain Rod allows Zero to hit enemies from a distance with medium damage. The Chain Rod also allows him to swing from ledges. The Shield Boomerang is a shield that deflects shots. Each wapon can also be charged up to do double the damage.

Each mission plays out similar, but they're not straightforward to defeating the boss. Some missions require you to rescue certain comrades, destroy certain objects and many other side objectives. Each mission has a boss as well.

Mega Man Zero 2 takes a small step above the first one with its Ranking System. After each mission you're graded on a scale that ranges from S to F. S being the highest. But there's more to it than just having a ranking and a nickname. If Zero should be at an A or S rank bosses will use a special attack that Zero can acquire called an "EX" skill. There are ten of these skills in all but new comers shouldn't attempt this until a few runs through the game.

Zero can also take on different "Forms".Each form gives him different properties. One could give him lots of defense and speed and limit his power. One could give him more power but limit other properties. Each form Zero takes changes his color.

The Cyber-Elf system is back and it remains unchanged. You find Cyber Elves in every level by defeating enemies, destroying containers or defeating the mini boss in a level.Cyber Elves are divided into three categories, Nurse (health), Animal (Enhance Abilities) and Hacker (Change level).Zero can also feed his elves and make them stronger. Some elves have permanent effects but Capcom makes sure that if you want all the EX skills and everything Mega Man Zero 2 has to offer then you must master going through the game without using the more powerful ones.Using the more powerful elves drops your ranking.

Visually, Mega Man Zero 2 looks great!Zero looks about the same as he did in the first one but backgrounds and levels are much more vividly detailed than before.

The game also sounds incredible! No Mega Man game has ever sounded this good.Remixing old tracks from the last installment and adding in several new tracks.

Its as if Capcom knew exactly what was wrong with the first one. This game is also much much longer than the first one and offers lots more to do.The game has more stages and they're much longer.

This game is also a CHALLENGE!We all know that once you got the hang of Mega Man Zero (or if you were a Mega Man X veteran) then Mega Man Zero was too easy. But when you first pop this in, even Mega Man veterans will find this new one to be a challenge! The challenge can be a little frustrating at times, especially when trying to maintain your A or S ranking but a good challenge always presents a good game.

Capcom went all out to make this better than the previous one by changing everything that was bad about the first one and keeping all that was good and the result is a well defined sequel that no Mega Man fan should miss!

The Good
+New improved gameplay
+So much more stuff to do
+Longer than the first one
+More challenging than the first one
+Music is better than the first one
+More abilities than in the first one
+Just all out BETTER than the first one

The Bad
-The game may be too challenging for those new to the Mega Man world

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicious!More Please!
Mega Man Zero 2 sticks mostly to the formula the original had but improves on it in subtle ways. The spear has been replaced by a grappling hook that functions similarly but allows you to hook and swing to places you couldn't reach before. In addition to powering up your weapons over time and the elemental chips, you can now obtain what are known as EX skills and Forms.EX skills are special abilities stolen from the boss characters throughout the game, though you'll only steal an ability if your rating is an A or better. This means that you'll likely not capture many of the EX skills the first time through the game, though they really aren't needed much to finish it and are more a reward to players willing to work hard for the A rating. The Forms on the other hand, are highly useful and are unlocked by performing certain feats within a level, such as killing 20 enemies with a jumping slash, or collecting 20 life capsules. These additions allow you to customize Zero's fighting style in numerous ways and add a lot of replayability to the game.

The cyber-elf system is much better this time around. While it hasn't changed dramatically, the amount of energy crystals you need to feed some of the elves has been thankfully reduced and a few new, very useful elves have been added to the list, such as an elf that boosts your rating to A in case your performance slips up a bit.

The game is just about as hard as the original (perhaps harder) though it's not as hard as it seems. The trick, like in most mega man games, is figuring out your opponents patterns and reacting quickly. Many of the boss characters are weak to attacks from one of the elemental chips too, so dodging and using charged attacks makes short work of most of the bosses.Once you're used to the controls and have a feel for the enemies, the game can get rather easy.

All and all, a delicious action game that serves as a model for action titles on the GBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mega Man Zero 2 Underrated
Looking at the reviews this game has gotten, I've realized that this game is highly underrated. This is a very good game that happens to be more difficult than most. For those had problems in the first level, this really isn't your game. This game and Mega Man Zero gave me hours of fun, some frustration, but it was easily worth the money I spent. Don't buy this game if you're looking for an easy side scroller that won't take much of your time. But if you're looking for a fun game that might be difficult for the average player, then this is your game.

4-0 out of 5 stars how gba games are supposed 2 be
an excellent megaman game and an excellent sequel to the first. the game basically looks the same as the first, apart from the menu(start) screen that has a jazzy new look.
the great and bad thing about this game though is that it is HARD, though i'm not complaining as GBA games are too simple.
there are cyber elves to help you as in the first game and also new suits which adds an edge to the game
beginners might want to go with a simpler game but great gamers and lovers 4 megaman have to add this to their collection. now all u have to wait 4 is number 3 which will be here soon asa it is already out in japan ... Read more

LEGO has been around for more than 40 years, and now thecompany is beginning to make its mark in the realm of video games.Building things is synonymous with the LEGO franchise, and buildingyour vehicle with virtual LEGO bricks is quite rewarding and very easyto do in LEGO Racers.

This game allows younger gamers and LEGO fans to construct their owncars, select and customize their own drivers, and then take to one ofthe 25 different tracks in one of four different worlds. Hidden withineach of the different tracks are some power-ups that will superchargeyour car and give it a boost of power that will help you blast your wayto the front of the pack. Finding the power-ups and racing against theother five drivers in this game is half the fun.

One really cool feature allows you to save your driver and car and linkup via the Game Boy Color Game Link cable to battle it out against oneof your pals (provided, of course, that your friend also has a copy ofthe game). If you want to go it alone, the five computer-controlleddrivers in the game will offer up some competition, but not enough forserious racing-game fans. The AI in the game isn't stellar, but, thenagain, younger gamers like to win, and this game delivers an incrediblegaming experience for budding Game Boy Color enthusiasts.

The game's graphics are on par with other Game Boy Color titles and thecontrols are solid. The instructions are easy to read and follow, and,as a result, the gameplay is simple.

Serious gamers who are LEGO fans might want to check this title out,but keep in mind that this is LEGO Racers were talking about, not Test Drive6. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • An incredible portable gaming experience for budding gamers
  • The combination of building and racing cars makes this game highly replayable

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Good For Gameboy Advance
This game is a dissapointment. Due to the gameboy's small screen and lack of buttons this game is extremely frustrating...not to mention the game's insane difficulty. Fortunately on Gamecube/PS2/XBox this game is much better.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is a GOOD GAME but IT IS NOT PERFECT!!!!!!!!
The "create your own skater" thing is cool, but, sometimes you lose your guy behind walls. My only complaint was that you could not move the camera.I recomend it with 4 STARS!! :-( :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars GETS BOREING AFTER PLAYING 4 A FEW WEEKS
SWEET GAME BUT GETS BOREING AFTER A PLAYING IT FOR A WHILE....
FROM CANADIAN SK8 CHIK
P.S
GIRLS SK8 BETTER THAN BOYS!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is great
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is a must. You should get it because its challenging and fun at the same time!

4-0 out of 5 stars smooth gameboy action
Sure, Tony Hawk 4 plays better on the PS2.But for a portable system, this is probably as good as it gets.Sometimes, due to the 2d/3d viewpoint, it is tough to pinpoint a landing or how to get onto an obstacle. That is really my only gripe, b/c you can 100% throw down with Hawk 4 due to the trick engine. The levels are pretty big and each of 'em have lots of stuff to skate.Get this game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great for younger kids
i think that this toy is really great it is much more durable than the normal tomogatchi and if your kid wants to feel special it is great there are more and more violent video games these days this game is really really safe it's as if you have a tomogotchi but it's will make your kid feel older and it will keep you from having to buy one every 2 seconds.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE TRUTH! By cyber55, a tamagotchi lover (CANADA)
This is the truth about good and bad parts of the game.
GOOD PARTS: The tamagotchi will grow into an adult in just one day if they are played with enough, the sound effects are kind of cute insteads of the beeping from the egg toys, there are more games to play, and there are some cool characters. BAD PARTS: The tamagotchi die after getting sick about six times, do be nice, some of the games are harder at the last level, and the characters don't have the same names they used to in the egg toy. TIPS: Play the left/right game to make them happy instead of using snacks, don't bring them to a place where you can't watch them properly, and don't worry about what character you get.

5-0 out of 5 stars If your a tamagotchi fan this is for you
This game brings a whole new way to play and raise your tamagotchi.Unlike in the real things you can train them to become smarter by studying with them and you can train them to be more athletic. Also you can raise 3 Tamagotchis at once making it triple the fun.You can change clock speed to have it go fast or slow and the game automatically saves everything you do so when you turn the game back on you see your tamagotchis exactly as you left them. This is much better than the original tamagotchis and is a must buy for tamagotchi fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars For those wanting the holdable ones
I got a good idea for those who want them back the holdable Tamagotchis. You can ether wait till Tamagotchi Plus comes out and/or go to ebay.com. There are alot of Tamagotchis that are being sold.

5-0 out of 5 stars -Tamagotchi Rock!
Tamagotchi are really cool. What it is, is a little alien that comes to earth. You hatch it then take care of it. You feed, clean up after, and play with it; you also have to "tuckit in" at night and give it injections(ew) when the poor darling is sick. The originals were very, very cool. They should really begin making them again, however, I believe you can find them at garage sales and stuff if you're fortunate and you can just go out and buy batteries for them so they work. I'm hearing this is an overall good game, but, I would try and find the originals. The originals are just oh so cute 0_-. Well, anyways, if you find an original Tama, go ahead and grab it! The originals are really great. Have fun Tama hunting! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Continuing the time-honored tradition of repackaging old console games, the Lunar RPG series has come to the GBA with Lunar Legend.

You play Alex, a young boy who hopes to one day be a Dragonmaster like his dearly departed hero Dyne. One day, a wizard named Nash comes into town, and needs an escort to a nearby shrine in the woods. You, your childhood friend Luna, and your flying cat-like pet Nall accompany Nash to the shrine, and your adventure begins.

Lunar Legend is an indirect port of a 10-year-old Sega CD game. The locations and characters are the same, but the dialog has been significantly shrunk to fit on the cartridge. This is a minus for true Lunar fans, since much of the story is lost. However, even with "Lunar Lite," you get a very satisfying game.

The game play is standard RPG fare: You walk around, randomly attack monsters, explore dungeons, and talk to villagers in various towns for quests and clues. The battle system, like most RPGs, is turn-based, and has some nice additions like the "Arts Gage" system, which allows special attacks after your character makes enough attacks during a battle. Lastly, you can collect cards throughout the game, and trade them with friends via link cable or sell them in various shops. Strangely, that's all you can do with them. It would have been nice if there was a mini card game of some kind.

The graphics in Lunar Legendare spectacular--on par with Golden Sun. The sound is top notch too, though the Luna's singing can get a little tiresome.

If you're looking for an easy RPG experience, or would like to relive part of the classic Lunar Series, give Lunar Legend a shot. You won't be disappointed. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • Amazing graphics
  • Funny cat-like sidekick
  • Trade game cards via link cable
  • Great story
  • Simple, yet fun battle system

Cons:

  • A shadow of the original CD version of the game--may upset true fans of the series
  • What use are collecting cards, if there is no mini card game?

4-0 out of 5 stars First RPG Game I Played-
Besides Poke'mon (which isn't a /rea/ rpg thing --) This was the first RPG I played. I had gotten it Christmas, when I was 9. It took me /3/ years to beat. I put it down after I couldn't beat the final boss. It's incredbly fun to play though, great grahics and awsome characters. (Go Nall!)

3-0 out of 5 stars A decent RPG, especially for the RPG starved GBA
There isn't anything particularly amazing about Lunar ... the graphics are amazing, but the story is just alright, the battle system is pretty much standard fare. And yet despite all the medicority of all the individual parts Lunar still manages to be a fun playing experience.

The gameplay pretty much follows a linear path ... you talk to people in town, they direct you to the next dungeon, you fight a lot of random battles, you make it to a boss, you beat him, you go back to the town to get praise and directions to the next town in distress. Pretty standard fare. There aren't any side-quests, no real item custimization (other than the normal weapon and armor sellers), and you can't even customize your party (people come and go at various points in the story).

And yet, somehow Lunar manages to still be a solid game to play. While it won't leave you awed at its greatness (like FF Tactics Advance) it still won't leave you feeling cheated either. It's not the greatest RPG out there for the GBA, but it has some intangibles that do make it a quality play.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lunar Legend truly is a Legend
If you want an RPG for your Gameboy Advance besides Golden Sun that can actually stand up to those found on the console then Lunar Legend is the RPG for you! While it isn't nearly as good as its release on the Playstation or even Sega CD it is worthwhile for a handheld.

The first thing about Lunar Legend that's cool is that for the GBA the graphics look great! The game doesn't lag much and it looks smoother than most GBA games do.It reminds of the look it had on the Playstation... only better suited for the GBA.

Lunar has a typical storyline that isn't too hard to follow but it has been reveered as a classic. What makes the story interesting is not the way it unfolds, but its characters.Without a doubt Lunar has characters that you may not like at first but over time you grow to love them. The characters are extremely well developed and you get time to know these characters.

The game features random battles and much like the console RPGs, have you going from place to place. The random battles are nice but this brings about a problem for Lunar. The game is relatively easy. Most battles won't take long but the random encounters become tedious because they don't take long and they're too easy.

In battle you can have your characters select commands such as to attack, use magic and the like. The battle system is fairly easy to learn but again the game is too easy.Even the bosses in the game are easy. For someone who played the Playstation or Sega CD version they may find the game to be dimmed down a bit too much.

The sound in Lunar isn't special really. It can be rather annoying actually. The spoken dialogue isn't too bad though and it really brings out the essence of the game.Unfortunately the story isn't dragged out by full motion anime cutscenes like before since the GBA isn't really capable of doing such a thing. The dialouge is also humorous and constructive and again shows why the story is so engrossing.

Lunar isn't really a long game though. It's rather short. In fact it can be completed in 15-18 hours. The game has extras such as an art gallery and collecing a 150 cards but nothing extreme is offered.

Overall, for the GBA this is a great RPG to play.It won't keep you busy for several hours or weeks on end but on a trip its nice to have along.

The Good
+Awesome Graphics
+Good storyline
+Loveable characters
+Easy to learn battle system

The Bad
-Can't say the same for the sound as the graphics
-Short game
-Too easy
-Not very many extras and such to keep you busy
-While the storyline is good it isn't original

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent RPG
When I was new to RPG's, I wasn't really hooked onto them. Then I bought Lunar Legend for my Gameboy Advance SP and I was immidiately taken in by the amazing story! The story is about a young "country boy" named Alex who wants to become a Dragonmaster. On his quest to do so, he travels with Luna, a songstress who is his close friend, Nash, a young "sorceror" who is a bit snobbish. Jessica, daughter of one of the four heroes, her boyfriend Kyle, a rogue bandit, and Mia, heir to the magic guild. On the journey Luna is kidnapped by the Vile Tribe, along with other Songstresses. As Alex tries to quicken his quest to become a Dragon master so that he can save Luna.

The gameplay is fun and entertaining. The battles have several options to choose from, which include manual or automatic. I prefer the manual to improve stratigic skills. The towns are fun to explore, and keep you well equipped (so long as you have money of course, which you obtain from battles). And in all it has about 30 hours of gameplay. I strongly reccomend this game to any RPG fan, or to any new RPG fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars great game but not so challenging
this game is pretty easy to beat(especially the last boss),and the characters talk way to much, but it has a good storyline.
*challenging 8/10
*long hours of gameplay(compared to the other games that I have played on the gba)7/10
*graphics 10/10(the characters are soooooooooo cute I just want to hug them to death)

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the best
I have played a lot of Medabots online and GBA games, along with Medabots Infinity. This is the best of them all. If I had a dime for evey minute I loved playing this, I would be richer than Donald Trump. The only bad part about this game, and I MEAN ONLY is the issue with needing special medaparts for certain obstacles. Ex: You need a "Plate Beam" to melt this door. And it ends up you don't have one so you Robattle for an hour trying to get one. But thats about it. I love cranking up the maon theme and pumping up the noise on the game: Here's my rates (outa 10)

Music:
8/10

Graphics:
7/10

Storyline:
9/10

Gameplay:
10/10 (It's very clever)

Also, on top of this, I love how you can make a medabot what ever you want. Medabee head, Bayonet Legs, Medabee Left Arm, Bayonet Right Arm, whatever you want. And I love the idea of how you can use Medaforce before everyone else which adds to the cleverness of the game. The downside is really only the stalls, and maybe how the game is slow in some parts. But I give this game a very good rating:

Buy, Buy, Buy, BUY IT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This game is so cool. It is one of the best games ever. If you really like Role Playing Games than this game is for you. It has good graphics, good music, and it is SSSSSSSUPER fun. You may get stuck at point but just keep on trying and you will win.

4-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED
THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER, I got it for X-MAS and it is the best game I have, even now it is my favorite GBA game my friend wanted to borrow it (and he lives 250 miles away) the best thing is the graphics!!!!! I would give it a ten star but that is not an option.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ummmmm.... and??????
This game at first seems fun. Then you find out that there are only two types of enemys that pop up every 10 steps. Then you just get bored and play this game mindlessly hoping it will end soon. This game will offer about seven hours of gameplay..... if you're willing to play that long.

Sound 2/5
I don't even remember the music

Graphics 3/5
Nothing spectaculor.

Gameplay 3/5
The battles are too slow..... even on fast mode.(don't even try it on slow)

Lifespan 0/5
It just gets boring.

Overall 2/5
Not worth your money. Heed my warning.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Medabot game ever!!
This is a great game, the only problem for me is that I'm stuck on this race against a Medabot. My brother has the other version, and we both agree this is the best Medabot game yet. I like how you go around places like amusment parks and and how you can make tons of Medabots. You should really buy this game. Also you can have a total of three Medabots, but my favorite part is that you can have more then 1 Medaforc. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indeed a Great Game
Mech Platoon is a very good game that provides challenging levels, but fun never less; it does not play like advance wars whereas it plays real-time. You start by choosing one of the three teams, Leon, Minos, and Trampler. In the game you don't start out with the power to build all of the units, you acquire them by gathering parts that you salvage from missions, giving a new twist to the game. The units in the game have special abilities, which give it power over enemy units, for example it your unit you control has Assault - slay, the unit has more power when fighting close combat units. There are six buildings in the game plus one secret one, each of them can build, upgrade, or defend, however the seventh one... I won't give the secret away. As the game progresses the game gets harder and harder and the enemy units get smarter. But overall this game is a worth it, I suggest you to buy it because it's great, but it is hard to find in stores.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game- couple of problems though
15 hours

GREAT GAME!!!!!

Even though there is several problems with it, I really liked this game. The graphics are great, and the intro movie is amazing. I think thats the best graphics I have ever seen on GBA.

Gameplay- The computer AI could have used a lot more work. It is rather dumb, but sometimes it is hard to win just because of the sheer numbers that it has. Also, once you select a unit and you send it somewhere, it becomes unselected. That gets annoying sometimes when you miss your target. I like the grouping idea though. I thought the whole unit system was the best part of the game. Its great- you can have over 40 different units to select from. I give gameplay a 4 out of 5 stars.

Sound- The music is the worst part of the entire game. Sometimes it gets so annoying that you shut it off, then you cant hear the sound effects. I like the explosions and the laser shots, but man the music could have used some work. I've heard Gameboy Color music thats better. I give music 2 out of 5 stars.

Graphics- The graphics are great; not the greatest, but they are better than average. And I just have to give this 4.5 out of 5 because of the intro move- you'll really like it.
I give Graphics 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Replay value- Yes. After you finish the campaign mode, you can play w/ your friends or play the computer.
I give Replay value a 4 out of 5 stars.

Overall a great buy, but it is possible to overpay for it. I hope they come out with a Mech Platoon 2 and fix some of the problems it has right now.

4-0 out of 5 stars Portable fun for an RTS fan
I would buy this game, but ONLY if you like real time strategy games.Don't look at just the stars for some of those 1 star reviews, because those complaints could be said about any RTS game.Ok so the AI could be a little dumb sometimes, but that is what a link mode is for and yes the missions could be better.

If you don't like the genre, don't buy the game, If you like the genre, go ahead and buy it

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what i hoped
I expected a game that was fun and kept me entertained. I was right. The game has a little differnent campaign mode depending on the group you choose. and always had a challenge. The game was easy to understand and quick to get going so it keeps you going for hours at a time. The game has 3 groups to pick from for campaign mode. The game it self lastes to 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours if your just doing one of the groups.

3-0 out of 5 stars it is ok
i thought that the game was lots of fun, but too hard. if you love command and conquer, this is a must have. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars SpongeBob Squarepants
This game is okay, so far as games go. It does get tiresome having to remember a code to get to where you left off, instead of saving it like you can with Mario, etc.

I think the makers of this game could have done better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!
My only problem with this game is it's way of continuing. Why should you have to write a password down?!That's dumb. Why should you not be able to just save and load? Why should you have to go to so much trouble? That's rediculous!I hope you editors read these reviews. If you do, then you'll know what to watch out for next time.Because this is so stupid I can't even believe it.The game falls short of perfect because of one thing!ONE THING!I'm tellin' ya.You shouldn't EVER [...] make a game where you're forced to use passwords. What kind of service is that?THat makes me so mad!

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs a save faeture, not passwords!
Awesome 2D version, great graphics, sound, gameplay (other then the fact that you have to use passwords instead of a real save feature), and bosses!

4-0 out of 5 stars not a strategygame
i like spongebob and this game isn't so challengeing i got done it in a week,or so now it is pretty fun though now that i think about it, it kind of gets harder as you go to diffrent levels, but if you want a stratgeny game i recommend MEGAMAN BATTLE CHIP CHALLENGE,but this spongebob game is good for young and old!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spongebob Squarepants-The Game
This game gets harder each chapter. You have to defeat a giant robot at the end of each chapter.I would really buy this if you are a spongebob fan.It is cool.(...) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for a 6 year old!!!
I bought my daugther this game for her 6th birthday and so far it is her favorite. She picked it up right away and it's easy for her to do! She also got the Barbie Princess and Pauper game, the Nicktoons Freeze Frame, and Disney Princess game and this one is much easier than all of them. I even enjoy playing it!

3-0 out of 5 stars difficult for beginners
This game is an ok game, like others have said, for younger kids its a bit difficult. One thing tho yoiu do not hae to write down the password after each level, just when you decide you want to stop. This way when you turn the gameboy back on you can get back to where you left off.Dora just needs the glasses to get past the bush or whatever is blocking her path and then you can take them off and see clearly. It is necessary to get al the crystals which can be pretty difficult for the usual Dora fan.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too Hard for Younger Gamers, Get Pirate Pigs Game instead!
Super Spies opens with screen shots of Dora and friends telling you what the problem is and what you're going to need to do in written form.So if you're kids don't read yet, they just get some SILENT pictures to button press thru. Then the game starts, and they need to be able to watch for the backpack image in the corner of the sceen, and then know to press it, find the right item, and continue. The first item she needs is glasses so she can see hidden ways thru shrubs or objects. The problem is that with the glasses on it's hard to tell what's happening.Once you finally finish a level, you need to write down a password to save your place.UGH.I was hoping for cute Dora music, and easier game play since Dora is really aimed at the preschoolers.Game has annoying repetitive "game" beeping sounds, but not Dora music, with the exception of "I'm the map" everytime you advance to the map section.Big Bummer.I then bought the Pirate Pig game for Dora and it has what I was looking for!Music & easier gamelay! So pass on this and get the Pirate game! You'll be glad you did!

2-0 out of 5 stars Too hard for young Dora fans
This game is rather simple in theory but it seems to be very hard to get the characters to do what they are supposed to do. Every time you complete a level, you receive a password that must be written down in order to remember it. Maybe we just had a bum game, but half of the time even we entered the password correctly, it would say that it was unacceptable. This game is rated E for everyone but considering that most Dora fans are ages 3-7, I feel that this game is too advanced for Dora fans. Our four year old couldn't play it. Shoot, even mom and dad had a hard time! I'd say pass on this one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great game!
the Best collection of atari 2600 games ever! This is a must have for you retro gamers out there!

4-0 out of 5 stars A blast from the past.
This is a somewhat difficult cartridge to review, because reactions to it will vary so widely. If you're young enough that none of the titles I'll mention ring a bell, consider this a three star cartridge that should be your first choice if you ever want to try a retro compilation. For anyone who grew up with an Atari 2600 in the early to mid 80's, however, this is a five star cartridge that should be among the first 10 that you get for your Game Boy.What you have, basically, is a handheld Atari system with 34 of it's best known games, plus extras, on one cartridge.Simply astonishing.

The four games featured on the front packaging are among those you'll probably be playing most often. In Freeway you help a chicken cross a highway. In Chopper Command you pilot a Chopper and, well, shoot the heck out of anything airborne that moves while avoiding crashes and return fire.In River Raid, you make your way down a river blasting enemies while avoiding shooting refueling tanks that you need to use.

There are other games you'll like too, but one rules above all the others.Mario.Samus.Alucard and the Belmonts. Before them all, there was Pitfall Harry - and countless of us grew up trying to get our Indiana Jones like hero through a jungle alive, those triple-crocodile jumps the bane of our young gaming existence.

There are some extra pluses and minuses. Those used only to games like the colorful Mario ports will find the screen a bit dull, but that was the Atari coloring of the time.Return fire bullets were small, which means that on the Game Boy they're Really, Really Small.Again, that's the system and the games. Finally, fans of the popular Kaboom!, the game featuring the dreaded Mad Bomber, should be aware that the controls don't lend themselves to the game very well - perhaps the only instance in the cartridge.

Now, however, for the pluses. You get a menu screen resembling an Atari cartridge deck, and can view the original box art and instructions - enough to give you a smile in itself. And - here's the big one - the cartridge retains records of high scores, which was the whole point of the Atari era.If you get a high enough score, you can even get a virtual patch resembling the ones you could send away for in the 80's if you provided Activision with a snapshot of your TV screen with a score of a certain level.

If you want to relive those days on handheld, then this cartridge is a must for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great collection of past games!
This is a great collection for those who can remember the old 2600 games.Keeping the high scores and including graphics of the patches and original manuals is great as well.Younger players might not get as much from it though. Its a great collection for the price for sure!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
Most of the games in this anthology of Activision's golden age are little more than bizarre curiosities, but the sheer fact that there are 55 of them (complete with some unreleased prototypes and "alternate" versions of games involving *gasp* human blood) sure does make up for a lot. Some graphic muddiness due to the GBA screen aside, the video and sound emulation is right on. Most of the good 'uns (River Raid, Pitfall) still hold up surprisingly well, though Kaboom is totally unplayable without the paddle controller. And while you may never actually figure out what the hell is going on with Kabobber or the NASA-licensed Space Shuttle, you're bound to enjoy the minutes trying

5-0 out of 5 stars good mix of games
OK these graphics are not up to todays standards. That is why the kids out there will not like this much. But for us oldies out there who grew up in the 1980's, these were the best games U could get! I enjoy bringing this game (and the GBA) when I am waiting at the DMV, airport ect. If you were a vidiot in the 80's this one is for you! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars BORING!
Being a Disney fan I thought this game would be cute.I was wrong. If I wanted to jump around a game board with no reward I would play an actual board game. You are lucky to win one mini game every 15 turns. You also have to be linked to another gameboy to even get the mini games. This game needs to advertise that you need 2 gameboys and 2 players or more to have the least bit of fun.Otherwise you are pointlessly jumping around a game board.I can't believe its a $30 game.I have way more fun with my $10 Ninja Turtle game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what it appears to be
Beware the false advertising on this game's box!I bought it because it looked like a portable, Disney version of Mario Party.Based on the box, it LOOKS like you play on a game board with a few other players, and then frequently stop to play minigames. That would be great, wouldn't it?Unfortunately, that's not what this game is.

There is a game board, and you do play against a few other computer players. But get this--there are NO MINIGAMES in that game mode.It is one of the worst, most boring games I have ever played, no exaggeration.Instead of playing minigames, in the board game mode, you are trying to reach the next "attraction," which is a very bare-bones, low-quality side-scrolling platforming game level! And, in the cruddy bare-bones platforming levels, you're not competing against any of the other characters--you are throwing bombs (which somehow float behind you--that's how you carry them) at a handful of pathetic enemies and trying to collect a few stars. These poor excuses for levels, or minigames, or whatever they are intended to be are also ridiculously short.AND, instead of playing one of these levels every turn, you will be lucky if you get to play ONE during a whole game.If you can get to the "attraction" before the computer, within the ridiculously short period of time that you have to get there, you can play the level. What happens more often is that you move around pointlessly on the game board for the whole game, while the computer does way better than you (and has all the fun).Isn't this game supposed to be for kids?I guess the developer thinks that kids like to lose.

The only way to play minigames in this game is to link to another Gameboy and play against a live person head-to-head.But then, there are very few minigames available, and to GET them, you have to beat the normal mode of the game (with the stupid game board and the "attractions") over and over.It just isn't worth the time.

So, obviously this game wouldn't appeal to adults--but don't buy it for your kids, either. It is simply a badly-made game, and apparently no one stops to consider that, since it is a "kids'" title. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad, Bad, Bad
Ok. Let me just say that I LOVE the Fairly Oddparents Television show. I bought this game the day it came out. I was horrified when I started to play it. All you do is kill bad guys. It is not even half fun. Another horrible thing about it is that you have to enter passwords to start from where you were, instead of saving. The passwords are like 10 digits long. They're horrible. You can't tell the difference between an I and a 1 in the password. If you are a big Oddparents fan, like me, I suggest that you RENT IT, before you buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars stinky
I have this game andit stinks. I don't like it very much. It is stupid and you do the same things over and over again.

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome game!
breakin' da rules is so cool! It may be hard to some people but it's cool. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars man it is cool
I like it.I`m in the water level. It is hard.I`m on the purple fish.I`m trying to bust the codes.I like Cosmo,Wanda, and when Cosmo turns into a laser. That all I have to say, bye.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not that great, unless the player is 7 and under
I didn't find the game fun. It was sort of boring because you pretty much do the same thing over and over again in the same level. Older children and adults will find the game boring, and not worth the money to buy for themselves. Younger children may like it, though. My seven year old sister plays it all the time, and enjoys it. So if you're buying it for a little kid, 7 and under, it might not be a bad idea. Pro gamers and adults, though, don't even consider buying it unless you are a MAJOR fan of the show and are just collecting Fairly Oddparents stuff.
Overall:
Pros:
-Graphics are alright
-Won't be too hard for children 7 and under, but won't be too easy either
-Music is ok

Cons:
-Boring for older children and adults
-For pro gamers and older children and adults it may be too easy
-Each level basically does the same thing, except with some different graphics.

In conclusion, I found the game to be horrible, but younger children might like it. Definetly don't buy it if you are older and looking for an exciting and fun game. ... Read more
