5-0 out of 5 stars Good, not for low battery power
I have a Game Boy Color and bought this a few months ago. It's great when my batteries are new. But when batteries are almost out of energy, don't use this. I put it in the middle of a game. Batteries not so good. The power indicator light was alot dimmer. I take it out, it's back to normal. Other than a glare also, it's great since the Game Boy doesn't have a backlit screen like the Sega Game Gear. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best light out there
Don't be fooled by the cobra light and bone light, or other cheap lights. this is the one that should be bought. it stays in the gameboy like it's suppose to. It's also cheap, is bright, lightweight and small, so it's good for any game boy. It works on the game boy pocket, color, and advance, so there is no need to buy more lights. even better, there is a huge selection of colors for it. buy it the light has weak points, like that very annoying glare it gives off. it's also kind of stiff when you flex it. but it's a very good buy, it's also good if you want life for your gba, intead of buying an SP, you coukld one of these instead.(Forget about the SP's stupid clamshell design! If you don't care about scratching the screen)

5-0 out of 5 stars Looks good
This looks like a good idea for playing int he dark. for the next revewer i have a question: does this work on game boy advance

4-0 out of 5 stars In the way.
I bought a worm light for my gameboy color and though it is extremely helpfull for use in the dark it can also be in the way a little bit. For example it has a tendancy to shine alot of light on 1 area and not another. Also mine, on numerous occations, got loose and fell out of my gameboy, wich as you know in the dark can be incredibly annoying and can cause you to lose the game. Also a small amount of times it got in my way so that i could not see the screen.

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure how this light is supposed to help.
I bought this light in hopes that it would make my gameboy color easier to play in dim light. No such luck.I really don't understand how this light is supposed to do anything. It just adds a nice glare to the screen. The only way a light would work is if the system had a back light, or if there was an accessory to do this (highly unlikely).I would just save your money and stand near a very bright light when playing your gameboy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A durable easy-to-use muti-purpose bag and cute too
Well, if you have a portable gaming system like Original GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy SP, Sega Game Gear, Sega Nomad, Game.com, or even the newest Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, you can use this for all of them.Put the sytem in there along with games, headphonee, etc. You can use this for anything that fits in the bag really. It has a built-in plasic compartment that can be lifted.I especially like the colors, very cheerful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
Don't let the Pokemon on the cover make you not want to buy this item. Besides that it's great. The case carries a Color Game Boy, two games properly ( I'm guessing if you just stick games in at random you'll be able to fit about 6+), and Game Boy hardware, and trading cards. So a great case for GameBoy fan. Buy and enjoy.

1-0 out of 5 stars this pack is not exceptable
This pack was not at all what I wanted.Although it has a battery pack there is hardly any space for games and the fanny pack itself is pretty ugly.My kids felt embarressed to walk around with it, as they are very into fashion and the fanny pack was not at all fashionable. As a warning:If you have 12+ year old kids do not get this for them, they'll hate you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Handy

4-0 out of 5 stars 6 Year Old Gamer and his Mom.
I purchased this game for my son last Christmas (age 5).This game is a favorite of his.He really enjoys the car racing with all of Mickeys friends. The graphics are great, the cars are easy to recognize. The track continually gets harder withramps, water and secret short cuts, with each level. My son, when playing this game will usually sit for 45 min. to an hour."Disney" did it again, GREAT game and age appropriate.Your young children will enjoy this game.Watch out for Minnie she likes to win!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than expected!
Fun, interesting courses or 'cities'. I like the fact that each character Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Daisy all have different difficulties. Picking up items to throw is a big bonus..if you like Super Mario cart you'll like this game for Gameboy. Only complaint, once you start a saved game with a character, you can't change them later in the other courses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for little kids
I bought this for my young son (age four). The controls are easy and the pictures easy to see. The games are fun and easy to learn. He has had very little problems with this game. I have enjoyed playing on it as well.

Enjoy.
Worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Lion The Flagman The Sparky, The 10
This game is the best game i have until the game and watch gallery 4 came out. This game was the second i brought even though the game was the 3rd to come out. This game has ten games. The three games i wrote for the titkle are part of the game. The game also includes 7 more games. the games are turtle bridge, egg, greenhouse, donkey kong, and more that i can't name because i forgot. This game has a music area and you could do anything you like to fix the music in the area. Then the important area is the gallery corner. the game is great succeed. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Game and Watch Gallery 3
First of all, I do agree that sometimes this does get dull. But great game play blocks out that so I can give it a good review. Control is great, and I really enjoy every game. The graphics are great in Modern mode. Someday I'd like to link with someone. All the good galleries and all the other secrets I can unlock in Gallery Corner pushes me on, giving me hope to open these things up. I've owned this game for almost a year, and I'm still enjoying it. It's my favorite of all of my games.

5-0 out of 5 stars THEGREATEST GAME
As i told you on my review for game and watch 4, i own this game. For my opinion this game should be the last game you buy in a while. There are about 10 new games in this game. You have to get a 1,000 points like the previous games. This time the gallery has more games to see than the 2 previous. In the classic games there are Judge, Lion, Spinball Sparky,Donkey kong 2,and Flagman. In flagman you don't have to get 1,000 points in it. Just read the booklet and see what it says about the game. But,even though this game is also the second best game like Warioland3. So if i was you i would buy this game as the next game to buy if you don't have it.BUY IT!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting Game
This game is very exciting because it has really cool levels and it has really coool tricks that you can do. This is the game any kid would like because it is the best game ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Game Rocks!!!
way better then THPS2. this is how i would rate it:(1-5)
Graphics: 4
Music: 5
Players u choose: 5+
Places u skate in: 5++
Fun: 5+++
It's a great game, the tricks are great! there are a million new tricks.
there is also a new balance bar, so when you r grinding down a bar, you have to balance not to fall off! this makes the game alot more fun. the new places you skate in are so much better then THPS2, they have more jumps, bars and all that stuff.
I would recommend to get this game and play!

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE WORST GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN
This game is so bad that you can not geet to the next level you fall a lot it is hard to contral and there is no point ofthis game .

5-0 out of 5 stars Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
I think has alot more than 1 and 2. It has Single Session unlike 1 and 2 they don't have Single Session. It has so much more levels, But it's a little different than 2. I own 2 and 3. I like hows there's more terrian and more grind poles and jumps. The graphics are not as good as two. I just can't wait for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4

5-0 out of 5 stars I think the kid that said tarzan is bad was forced to say it
My brother Has tarzan: Return to the Jungle and its sooooo cool!!! we are at the last level where you have to rescue dino eggs is cool. But I keep getting squished by the T-Rex. This one must Rock!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars good, but very challenging
I am sure that the programers worked hard to make this game a good one,but it is just too hard. The graphix are good, but I,for the three years I have had this game,I have not beat it,my brother, who is a very experienced gamer, has not beat it either. I am sure that there are many others who agree with this review. I hope this helped you!

5-0 out of 5 stars good but difficult
I like the Tarzan game because it gives quite a challenge and has good graphics. I think this game has the best graphics I've seen for GameBoy. Sometimes the difficulty exasperates me though because I just can't get past Sabor and when I'm game over I have to go back four levels to get to the Sabor level again. The game should have a password for each level so the player wouldn't have to play and beat so many levels again and again. But it is still a lot of fun and a game that I enjoy playing and I recommend it to other gamers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Tarzan, the worst game in the history of Gameboy
This game is so incredibly bad. You can't even save your game, you have to enter in a password (of which you might forget). There are no bonus games, except for the "Paint N' Print" and "Hide and seek". The bosses are too hard to beat, and you have to beat four stages before you get a password to the next level. Don't listen to other people who tell you that Tarzan is a good game, but most importantly don't waste your money on this game, it is an awful way to throw away $30. I reccommend the new release KIRBY TILT N'TUMBLE or any mario/wario game. I am definetly returning this game.

Amazon.com Review

Spidey is back on the Game Boy in Activision's sequel, featuring the dastardliest team of Spider foes imaginable. The fiendishDoctor Octopus orders his Sinister Six (Sandman, Mysterio, Kraven theHunter, the Vulture, and Scorpion) supervillain team to kidnap PeterParker in an effort to lure Spidey to his rescue (Parker is, of course,Spider-Man, but they don't know that). Instead they find and snatch hisvenerable Aunt May, and soon Spider-Man is hot on their trail.

Like the previousSpider-Man GameBoy title, Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six takes place on atwo-dimensional series of battlefields. Spidey can wall-crawl, stick toceilings, punch, kick, and jump, and shoot webs. He can also web-swingfrom platform to platform. They've given him a few new moves that lethim do leaping attacks, and a power-up that makes him invulnerable. Theaction begins on the docks and moves to other locations, such as awarehouse and office building. A supervillain boss defends each stage;figuring out how to defeat his cronies will keep you on your toes.

The gameplay is simple, but Spidey has a nice array of powers that keepthe combat and movement interesting. The game features 18 levels andcountless thugs to beat up. Cool comic-book-style cutscenes bookendeach level nicely.

Fans of the webhead will be delighted to face off against so many ofthe wall crawler's cooler rogues gallery in a single game. Plus, thecolorful yet minimalist graphics don't disappoint, as Spidey is drawnlarger this time around and moves quite easily. But the game's bestselling point is the creativity found in the simple yetfun-to-swing-around-in level design. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Faithful to the hero and the comics
  • A good variety of boss villains
  • Excellent level design
Cons:
  • Repetitive action
  • No replay value

5-0 out of 5 stars SPIDER-MAN RULES!!!!!
I really loved the other spider-man games and I bet this one is just as good!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's good
Crawl, punch, and swing your way to the top in the newest superhero
rumble Spiderman2: The Sinister Six for GBC. As Spidey, you are called upon to save a kidnapped auntie M (aunt May for those of you who aren't familiar) from the many-tentacled clucthes of Doc Ock. All of Spidey's powers are yours to use, including the ability to cling to walls, super strength, speed, and web-slinging and more. Spiderman 2 contains game play similar to its PS1 cousin, with suberb graphics and sound rounding out and impressive title.

5-0 out of 5 stars A RARE CLASSIC
this is without a doubt on of the best spider-man games i have played. for some odd reason it only saw limited release in the us. not all stores i checked had it. infact of the 6 states i checked (michigan, new york, calafornia, florida, maine, and ohio) no state had this game in a full supply. i was suprised to see it here for sale. even major game softwere sites don't offer it. some i e-mailed said it never existed. the gameplay is great, but only if you like classic side scroller's. the sound is ok, and the graphics aren't as eye straining as i thought they would be. it is the the second best spider-man title ever made for any game boy system. over shaddowed only by mysterio's menace for GBA. and sence gameboy advance (gba) is not as common to peoiple as game boy color i highkly recomend this game. this title unlike the first installment of the activision spider-man series is exclusive to the gbc (game boy color) and is one of the best titles made for the system. sence it is somewhat rare i would pick up a copy here at amazon.com while they last. and no they didn't pay me to say that. :) seeya lated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spidey's back!
Spider-Man returns in this awesome adventure which puts the GBC system to the max! Aunt May has been kidnapped by the Sinister Six thinking she was Peter which we all know is Spidey. Spider-Man is hot on the trail but it's up to you to stop them! Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six Review
This game is great. The graphics are great as well. You get plenty of villains to face (Mysterio, Sandman, Vulture, Kraven The Hunter, Scorpian, and Dr. Octopus). The levels are long and there's plenty of them (About 18) I'd recomend this game for any Spider-Man fan or any comicbook fan. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Awful
I got this game two years ago when i was eight and i stilll didnt beat the first level. it is very hard and u always just want to turn this off. i would not recommed any one to buy this

2-0 out of 5 stars Dont Buy It For Younger Kids
Just because its rugrats does not mean its for kids! The rugrat chain of games are exactly the same thing, getting to one point to another but in the rugrat games you cant touch anyone, you have to switch levers in order to get to another piont, collect stuff along the way,and you have a time limit! If this sounds fun your WRONG!As you can tell little kids can not cordinate jumping are automaticaly know you have to touch levers or stay away from bad guys.I have to admit the mini games are fun,but there so short and easy!Dont get this game

3-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and Difficult
This game was really hard. I beat the first level, but then I lost my password. When I tried to beat it again, I couldn't. I only enjoyed playing the mini games. I recommend this game for expierienced game players.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good kids game
I bought this game for a 5 year old boy and he has enjoyed it very much.I recommend this game for children 5 and older.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kind ofPointless
Rugrats in Paris: The Game is sort of fun, but it gets old fast. Plus, it's hard in a way where you don't want to play anymore because it's really frustrating. Another downfall is the sound effects. They are really irritating, because all you hear CONSTANTLY is Tommy's laugh or Chuckie's gurgle sound, or whatever sound your character makes. It's not that fun, unless you're really bored or you're four. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A must have
You must have this items when you go on long trips or short trips so you don't end up with a blank screen on your gameboy because the batteries ran out.You need to get this to plug right in to your car and save those batteries for your gameboy! The batteries in gameboys do get eaten up pretty fast so just buy this item for crying out loud.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best thing for the Car
I think it's definitly good that you can play about 15 hours in the car at maximum because you don't usually drive that long. But the 15 hours, fortunatly is only for the car, after the 15 hours, if your batteries have full power, you can play for 10 more hours. So in total you can play 1 day and 1 hour. But if you get in the car and you put it in and then someone starts the car it restarts.Lastly it doesn't stay in to your Gameboy that well sometimes, but that doesn't really matter because most times it stays in as well as headphones.

3-0 out of 5 stars MAD CATZADAPTER....thing
it was okay, i guess. frustrating because if it unplugs while you are playing, you lose your game. i gave it 3 stars because you don't waste the batteries. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Dunno why, but this game scared me...
Poor graphics. It's scarily similar to the SUPER-CRAPPY Powerpuff Girls GBC games. It also scared me somehow, in a nightmarish way.
Don't buy it. It ain't worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game
THQ's latest Game Boy Color release, The Simpsons: Night of the Living Tree House of Horror, is seven levels of spooky action ripped straight out of a decade's worth of Halloween specials. The family's souls are trapped in Bart's tree house, and the only way to save them is to guide Bart, Maggie, Lisa, Homer, and Marge safely through each of his or her own uniquely nightmarish scenarios. As can be expected from a TV license, this particular Simpsons product is an action game. However, unlike the usual fare of repetitious platform-jumping rehashes, Night of the Living Tree House of Horror packs seven different side scrollers into a single game. Each level borrows its name from a specific Halloween episode and has its own unique gameplay gimmick. In the first scenario, Bad Dream House, Bart must explore each room of the Simpsons' house, vanquish haunted creatures with his slingshot, leap across sludge pits, and collect enough keys to save the family dog from a demonic broom. Level two, Maggie-Fly, sends you soaring through the air as a fly-mutated Maggie and tasks you to navigate her safely across a bug-infested kitchen. Things really heat up in level three, Plan 9 from Outer Springfield, a top-down shoot-'em-up starring family mom, Marge Simpson. Presented in a style reminiscent of Konami's Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Marge is a bubble-blaster-packing zombie hunter who'll have to get through hordes of possessed Springfield denizens and zombie versions of Apu, Moe, Mayor Quimby, and Krusty if she wants to make it home safely. Later levels cast Homer as a vampire hunter in a Castlevania-style mansion romp, a Homer robot as a toxic-waste purifier with a heart, Lisa as a Solid Snake-inspired operative in a stealthy school rescue, and the apelike King Homer in a Rampage-style wrecking frenzy. Each level in The Simpsons: Night of the Living Tree House of Horror is a game unto itself, which makes for a rather pleasing and varied experience. Surprisingly, though, each scenario is also a nice example of the particular genre it lampoons. Bart's initial jump-happy scenario lends a nod to Nintendo's Super Mario Bros., while other levels pay glowing tribute to Sega, Konami, and Atari releases such as Kolibri, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and Rampage. The game is not entirely free of flaws, however. The game uses an unwieldy password system, making it unnecessarily tedious to continue a game. The game itself is incredibly short and can be completed in less than three hours. Also, nonhuman enemy sprites are limited to poorly animated spiders and bees, which makes them jarringly out of place when compared with the rest of the game's sprites. Despite a few ugly spiders, the majority of the action in The Simpsons: Night of the Living Tree House of Horror is colorfully drawn, highly detailed, and smoothly animated. Bart, Maggie, Lisa, and the rest of the family all have their own trademark body characteristics, as well as at-rest animations that include Bart's patent shrug and Maggie's clumsy pacifier drop. The rest of the Springfield menagerie is present as well. Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Monty Burns, Waylon Smithers, Groundskeeper Willy, Principal Skinner, and a whole host of recognizable characters gives the game the kind of satisfaction that only familiarity with a phenomenon can offer. The Simpsons' house, the Burns' mansion, and the Springfield streets are also re-created as well as can be expected on a 3-inch color screen.
Don't let the standard GBC MIDI fool you either--this Simpsons game sounds good too. Although there aren't any Bart speech samples or Homerisms, Night of the Living Tree House of Horror is deep with a wide array of series-inspired sound effects and music. It's no Mario Advance, but Simpsons fans will smirk with glee when hearing the Simpsons theme twisted asunder in a dark horror re-creation of itself. Re-creation is exactly what The Simpsons: Night of the Living Tree House of Horror is all about. No matter how you pronounce it, THQ has managed to re-create a decade of Halloween specials into a single GBC game that's bound to give series fans hours of recreation.

4-0 out of 5 stars WOW! A SIMPSONS GAME!
I don't know how long I've owned this game but, I think it's been a really long time, there's 7 levels of non-stop fun, the levels get harder and harder, but, I have a book that will let me go to any level, well anyways I'm glad they made this game it's really fun well bye!!!!!!!:)

4-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons Rock
This is a really cool game that is based on The Simpsons Halloween episodes.there are 8 levels and in each one you are a different Simpsons charactor. In the 1st level you are Bart and your in a haunted house looking for Santas Little Helper. The second has Maggie in the body of a fly.You have to get her to the transporter which will make her a baby again. Its very easy. Then you Marge and you have to kill zombies with a be be gun. its very very hard.In the next your Homer and your in Vampire Burns(Mr. Burns) castle. Its pretty hard. Then you are a Homer-Robot searching for your body parts.its not very hard at all.In the 7th level Lisa walks through the school freeing kids that are to be eaten by teachers. pretty easy. Finally, in the last level your are King Homer(King Kong) and you battle planes and tanks looking for Marge.I hope you enjoy the game.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror
I am probablyy the biggest Simpson fan you will run into, but this has to be the worst game I have ever played. The characters look so horrible they move to slow and you can only start on level one which is pretty hard there are no extra features except the Homer one you have to un-lock. ... And in conclusion there is just such a lack of effort put in this game [...]!It is just sooo horrible!! If you are a simpson fan don't buy it it is embrassing. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This Game Absolutely Sucks
Never buy this game. Horrible graphics, too easy, no difference of boxing style between the "many" (8) boxers. Wow, my cousin gave it to me because he didn't like it either, and an hour later I beat it and gave it to him back. I can't even sell it at a used game shop as it has no demand whatsoever

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or $
I bought it and 45 minutes later I beat everybody.8 fighters (that look terrible), poor controls, and the "Rumble Pack" doesn't add anything to the game. How did this game ever make it into stores?I'meven easily entertained....this game is a joke!

1-0 out of 5 stars Art
This game stinks.I beat it in about half and hour, without even trying. The only thing that you are paying for is the rumble feature. The fighters are so tiny and there is no strategy at all.Just punch and block, that's it.I gave it to my 8 year old son and he gave it back to me after about 10 minutes.Do not get this game.

2-0 out of 5 stars KOforReady to Rumble Boxing
This game stinks. No question about it. I would rather be a pokemaniac thenplay it. 8 LOUSY PLAYERS. 3 SECRETS. I SAW THIS UNDER THE EDITOR'S PICK. I HOPED GREATNESS BUT NOW I THINK THE EDITOR IS LOCO EN LA CABEZA.Last thing it BARELY rumbles

2-0 out of 5 stars Another waste of money for your Game Boy Color
Don't waste your time on this game. It's not anything like the Playstation incarnation. It will only be enjoyable if you are obsessed with the playstation game and will be happy with this one just because of the name. The graphics are the same asall the other bad commercial GBC games and are nothing like therevolutionary graphics coming on the system soon when nintendo releasestheir new action game. ... Bofore You buy it online check local stores for wholesale. I bought one here and 2 days later I went to Toys R Us and bought one for 50 cents ( This is toys R Us .com You know). When I bought the protector I also got a belt clip and the total for the two was 86 Cents. And you can't stop the order after It was shiped (they diduct the return shipping cost from your refund). But overall I rate this item 5 stars. It is a great item and real handy it even has a strap that goes around your neck (It has to be extended though).

4-0 out of 5 stars Only 1 problem
I bought one of these for my gameboy color and am really pleased with it, especially for trips. The only problem withit is that it doesn't protect the front especially the screen from being puntured by a tool or something like that but, it protects it from scratches and being droped really well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its pretty good
This is a pretty good case for your game boy. i like the colors on it but it needs a little more pizazz. If your looking for a case and dont really care what it looks like just get this one. its pretty cheap.I got one and im pleased ith this item.

Ok, although I dont have this E.T. yet, I fully intend on buying it the day I can.The gameboy advance game is great! Its more of an adventure game than this title is, but the graphics are nice, and E.T.'s animations are hilarious!NewKidCo is doing a fantastic job on all the kids games recently, and I see no reason why this will stop.Check out Tom and Jerry, or the Muppets games too.Video games that teach something other than violence, keep it up!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite pinball
It seems silly for a grownup, but of all the pinball games I've had for my gameboy, this is the best. When the old one I had died, I bought a replacement! It's both 1 and 2, there are lots of level and speed setting combos, and lots of minigames. I play it every week!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really good!
This is a really addicting Pinball game! It is really fun and challenging. you have to spell the names of either Ariel or Melody (depending on which table you play) to open up secrets and mini-games. this game is extremely addictiong and is good for a long car trip!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pinball Addiction
We are a family of pinball addicts and absolutely love this game.It is a constant battle to see who can outdo whom in the high score range. The graphics are good as is the music.Good color and the mini-screen turns aren't as easy as they look but they're still alot of fun! This is great for all ages!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I bought this game for our son (2 years), and actually it's a bit advanced for him. However, the music and animation is entertaining enough, and the game play rudimentary enough that he still manages to entertain himself quite well with the game even if he can't really play it.The more interesting detail is that my wife and I have found ourselves to be pinball junkies. It's very addictive. The game play requires skill and stategy as you proceed to hit various targets on the board in order to unlock bonus games, and other prizes.Throw in the rumble pack, and the fact that you essentially can't ever exhaust game play on a pinball game and you got all you need to have a highly entertaining game that you'll be playing for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun game!
great graphics, pretty easy for 4-5 year olds to control when on the easy setting and the vibrations from the extra piece makes the game more fun! plus you can play as either ariel or melody! ... Read more

The only way a light would work is if the system had a back light, or if there was an accessory to do this (highly unlikely).I would just save your money and stand near a very bright light when playing your gameboy. ... Editorial Review

The Game Boy seems to have a billion games involving a herorunning from left to right and jumping over platforms, but BionicCommando rises above the clutter with its interesting take on theside-scrolling action genre.

You assume the role of a commando with a super-extendable bionic arm.Your task is to free your ally Commando Joe, who is trapped in an enemyprison. With the bionic arm, players swing from place to place, stun bad guys, and even grapple walls and ceilings. As the gameprogresses, you'll earn new weapons and armor. Unlike mostside-scrolling action games, your commando (playable as a male or female)cannot jump from platform to platform. This twist brings a refreshingbit of strategy to the generally fast-paced action.

Commando boasts some of the best graphics the Game Boy Color hasever seen. All of the characters are smoothly animated and, consideringthe tiny size of the screen, the levels are very detailed. Whetheryou're a fan of the original 1980s Bionic Commando gamesfrom the arcade and the original Nintendo Entertainment System, or wantto experience one of the best titles on the Game Boy Color, this is aportable gaming classic. --Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • A refreshing take on the crowded side-scrolling action game genre
  • Easy to pick up and play for good, long gaming sessions
Cons:
  • Controls do not allow your character to jump
  • Irritating music and scratchy-sounding voices

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun game.
When I bought this game I just bought it for the looks. But it turned out to be exeptionally good game. The graphics 8/10, Sound 9/10, Gameplay 10/10, Fun 9/10.So its great.

3-0 out of 5 stars Grappling can never replace jumping . . .
I never played the original Bionic Commando, so I cannot acurately compare it to this remake. What I'm told, though, is that the female commando is new.
This is essentially a mission-based side-scroller that also stems to occasional bloody sniper-modes and some omni-scrolling. The play-control is done rather well, except that you cannot jump. Instead, you have to use your grappling arm to get from one platform to another, which can make for unnecessary dificulty. There is also a lot of maze work in some levels, forcing you to run in circles before actually getting from point A to point B and so forth.
As for the commandos themselves, the "Johnny Knocksville" male commando and the "X-Woman Psylocke" female differ only in looks. The choice is probably based on your preference for gender. I usually play as the female even though I'm male, but maybe that's just me.
The storyline is simple: a former bionic commando loses his temper and decides he wants to destroy the government that created him. At least that's what I remember. You are a new commando sent to stop the evil cyborg at all costs.
As you progress, you will collect new weapons and items. Most of the items are merely requirements to complete your mission while the new weapons simply make you more powerful. You may also collect other enhancements such as a pair of steel boots to knock your enemies out while swinging.

4-0 out of 5 stars Have been an avid gamer since the days of the Atari 2600.
I bought this game for only one reason, because I love the original NES version soo much. The original NES version was a perfect side scroller action game that you can play over and over without getting tired of it.I was a little disapointed with the Gameboy Color version but after a while, it begins to grow on you. It may not be as good as the NES version but this game is still worth buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bionic Commando left me hanging.
Not as in left me hanging not knowing what to do in the game, it merely freezes everytime I try to enter a level after fighting an enemy truck. Talk about a pain!I've read somewhere else people complain about Bionc Commando freezing up on their GameBoys, yet I see no one talking about it here.It happend on my GBC, and now it happens on my GBA. I still can'tget into to level 6 for crying out loud. this is a big problem, that can only be fixed, I found out, by sending your GBC or GBA and the game into Nintendo, where they will fix it for free and whatever. I say, that's good, but right now I'm in the middle of LEgend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, I don't feel like interuppting my gameplay at the moment. It's really a shame, because I love this game!! The graphics are amazing, how they crammed such life-like human motions into a GB is beyond me. And I wish people would stop complaining about the "irritating music". Where have they been? I love the music! It's also very detailed. You can tell if eletric guitars and drums are playing along with a rock organ at one point. And cymbals and stuff. It's really very entertaining. The BOSSes are hard, but you just WANT to beat them, so you keep doing itand suddenly its like "Oh, now I know what to do!"And you get rid of 'em.I'd love to say "Buy IT!" but not if it means it'll freeze up your system. Hey, if you really like, go ahead and get it, maybe it won't give you a problem, but if it does, Nintendo will fix it.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you liked the NES version of Bionic Commando...
If you liked the NES version of Bionic Commando, this Gameboy Color version makes the NES version look archaic!! New levels, two characters to choose from (the strong male, and the agile female), beautiful graphics, smooth scrolling, and detailed character animations truely make this cartridge stand out. With the traditional side scrolling levels, and top-down battles when intercepting enemy trucks, and a new 3rd type of combat in sniper mode that is optional for powerups during a mission, the game will definately keep you entertained.3 save slots are available on this cartridge. Also, if you are mid-mission, and you need to quit back to the map to change equipment or save, holding Select, A, and B all at the same time will exit the mission and bring you out. ... Lots of other people have thrashed this game, but I don't think it's really that bad. The computer-like interface isn't too bad once you get used to it, and you can turn off the loading sequence at the beginning which becomes annoying the second time you play the game. Actually, "Oh Behave" isn't really a game in itself, but a collection of activities, games and tools. Included are a stylized calculator, a typewriter that can be used with the GB Printer, 4 mini-games, and a selection of wallpaper to decorate your "desktop". There is also a bunch of sound clips, but they're really scratchy and hard to hear. There's also a short movie clip but it's really fuzzy and all in blue. Overall, it's a descent package that will be groovy enough for Austin fans to enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's kind of fun.
I ordered this game just a few days ago, I think it was kind of fun. The things that are not fun, are that it's set up like a computer. You have to restart it if there's a problem, it has to load when you turn it on, and you have to shut it down when you done.On the back of the game, it says there's TONS of mini-games, but there's only five. I still can't figure out how you download the " world of tons' of mini games." I think you should buy another game before buying this on. PS: The Rugrats Movie Game is a really fun chanllnge! The Sherk game is fun too!
