I was extremely disappointed with the limited graphics for NFL Blitz 2002 for Game Boy Advanced, and surprised as well.I wish I had bought something else.First of all, there is no cool graphics, unlike the arcade version. The sound is more like 8-bit graphics, rather than 32-bit graphics.(See the game pack yourself before buying it, to see how cheap this game really is!) What is this, the 1970s?I found myself trying to have fun with this game, but it's never going to happen.Don't make the same mistake I did.Spend your [money] on Sonic Adventure or Super Mario Advance, or something descent for Game Boy Advance. If you want REAL animation and fascinating graphics and cool sound that will grab you into the game, NFL Blitz 2002 for Game Boy Advance is not the game for you.

Amazon.com Product Description Designed for the Game Boy Advance, SI4K: Football offers multiplayer support, so kids can compete against each other via the separately sold link cable. Unlike other games that sport professional league and player licenses, here kids create their own teams from scratch, choose the names and uniforms, and then trade players, if desired. The game rates athletes on strength, speed, and agility. Stats improve through play to advance the team overall. As players improve, so do the special effects. Smoke and flames fly from the feet of a player who gets faster. That's just the beginning--successful play unlocks secret bonuses, such as stadium improvements and rookie cards for your all-star players. Reviews (6)
Granted, the title should've clued me in, but I've run across quite a few games that were originally intended for children that I've enjoyed very much. This, however, really isn't one of them. Don't get me wrong, the retro style graphics and gameplay brought me back to the days of the ol' PC game "4th And Inches", but really don't stand up to expectation with all the really attractive titles out there right now.I mean, Joe Montana Football was one of the greatest football games ever, and while I'm not saying that it should necessarily be brought back (make way for the new and all that) the expectation is that the game will at least LOOK like something more interesting that a mess of hard-to-differentiate pixels blinking across a green field. Play calling and execution is frighteningly simplistic and sometimes quite frustrating, the players move molasses-slow, and there's no such thing as the onside kick.On the positive side, you can straight-arm other players. But that's really it. My recommendation is that unless you're an 8-year-old, or want to play a very, very simple football game, skip this one.Madden 2002 is coming out soon, and promises to be quite superior to this. When I first picked this up, I thought "how bad can this be?" and that it would tide me over until the real sports games surfaced. Not so.I'm utterly disappointed. The only reason it got 2 stars instead of one is the whole "retro" value (I really loved 4th and Inches). I'm not sure what I expected, but it really, REALLY wasn't this. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review As mentioned, the heartless Pinobee must rescue his doddering inventor,Grampa Bee, through several stages of insect mayhem. He can jump, clingto walls, and has a "dash" ability that lets him briefly shoot forwardthrough the air. The gameplay involves killing enemies, collectingpower-ups and flowers for energy, dashing about, and navigating puzzlesand traps. Pinobee has an energy meter that counts down as he movesaround. Flowers replenish the meter, but if it reaches zero he becomessluggish. Occasionally he'll run into a fairy that grants him new dashpowers and a cricket that advances the story. There's also a diary youcan read between levels that gives you a synopsis of Pinobee's searchfor his Grampa. While the game itself features a lot of inventive takes on the 2-Dadventure genre, they are, at best, merely recycled from other games. The diary is mostly useless, due to limp writing, which is probablyitself the fault of a poor translation from the original Japanese text. But Pinobee's cute and inoffensive nature makes it perfect forkids. Also, Pinobee has the advantage of being one of the onlynonsequel launch games for the Game Boy Advance. Out of all the 2-Dside scrollers you'll find at launch time--and there are quite a few ofthem--this is the only one you haven't played before. --Andrew S.Bub Pros: Reviews (16)
Pinobee was graphically impressive. I'm having difficulty deciphering , but it looks like they used polygons for the game. There are just some characters that seem sprite based. For Pinobee himself, I am very impressed at the level of detail used. For the majority of the enemies, they seem to fall to a grainier resolution. This inconsistency can make it difficult to determine what you are really attacking. The backgrounds are well constructed, giving the feeling of being in a flowerbed as well as the caves in Phase 2.I do find it annoying that Pinobee looks at the screen with a balloon head effect every time you use his last Dash and when he gets hurt. Pinobee seems to fall victim to the mindless, childish action game trap. Progression through levels is very linear, and levels do not seem to differ from the previous. It seems as if there was a predetermined template for levels and minor alterations were made to each. This enforces a strong sense of monotony. At the end of every level, you find Pinobee reading passages from a book. Though I have tried to make sense of them, they just do not seem to put together any real form of a story.Every time you encounter another non-hostile bug, Pinobee takes time to chat with them, using "Blah Blah Blah" as his choice of words. It would be so much nicer if Pinobee would obtain some new weapons or abilities from these seemingly pointless encounters...

Amazon.com Product Description The Game Boy platform (which includes the original unit, the Game Boy Pocket, and the Game Boy Color) came to market when most video game consoles had a life expectancy of just a few years. More than a decade later, the system is still going strong. How did the Game Boy successfully compete--and in some cases bury--an onslaught of faster, more powerful handheld and home console systems? Let us count the ways: affordability; a huge library of games that consistently made the most of the hardware's limitations; smart power management that extended battery life; and uncluttered controls. But perhaps it was the system's ultra-portable design that allowed devotees to play video games around their schedules, making it the must-have system for kids and adults alike. Now the Game Boy Advance (or GBA, as it's already being called) comes to us with power that would have been unthinkable back in the day. The portable's 32-bit RISC CPU runs circles around the former's 8-bit workhorse, allowing it to process program instructions much faster. What that means to everyday gamers is more intricate visuals, more simultaneous movement on the screen, and better sound. In fact, the often-annoying beeps and boops of old-school Game Boy titles are being replaced with digitized stereo sound. The extra processing muscle also means you can network up to four Game Boy Advance units together, via the communication cable, for multiplayer fun off of one shared cartridge. Only two Game Boy Color units could link together, and each unit had to have its own copy of the game. What's not being replaced, however, is the wide selection of Game Boy games. Because the Game Boy Advance system is backward-compatible, it will play its own line of colorful games--including such launch titles as Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Army Men Advance, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2--as well as all of the monochrome and color games that have already been released for the previous Game Boy systems (nearly 500 in total). Players can view the older games in their smaller, originally square dimensions, or, with the touch of the shoulder button, expand the game to fit the GBA's larger screen. We tried enlarging the screen on a Game Boy Color edition of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, and found that Mr. Hawk was much easier to see. When you first pick up the system, you'll be amazed how lightweight it is. At fewer than 5 ounces and a little larger than a deck of playing cards, the system easily fits into a shirt pocket without any sag. The GBA's wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands. The former design too often pushed the left and right thumb knuckles together during gameplay. The new layout should be comfortable for all ages, and the center screen orientation makes it easy to see. Game Boy Color owners will find the GBA's larger screen somewhat darker than they're used to, but that's because the screen is outfitted with antiglare technology. Like the old Game Boy Color, the color LCD is not backlit, so you need pretty good light to play by. Unlike that system, though, you won't be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the hot-spot reflection of the light bulb in your screen. But you'll also notice the graphics. Sporting what's basically a redesigned SNES technology, you'll see things on the GBA that you'd see on the big consoles, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects--technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to throwing a touchdown pass to crawling through a dungeon. Some might argue that Nintendo could have put even more power into the Game Boy Advance. After all, the 32-bit video game had its heyday more than five years ago. Perhaps, but after handling this new handheld, we're inclined to think that Nintendo wisely struck a balance between size, price, and power consumption. And considering how well the old 8-bit system weathered the decade's technological storms, we think the Game Boy Advance is here to stay, and we're glad. --Porter B. Hall Unit Specifications Reviews (3)
As for the console itself - The sound is improved for some, but only some,of the older (non-advance) games. The ability to expand the older games to fit the bigger screen is a really nice feature though things on the screen tend to flatten out some, as might be expected. To really appreciate the technical improvements, an advance game should be played. The console is a good size, the new shape is easy to hold. But the bigger screen is a bigger dark screen.Even the Worm Light is not enough for some games. Wait until there are more Advance games available before buying Gameboy Advance. ... Read more
