5-0 out of 5 stars FOR THE ROCKY FAN
FOR THIS BEING A HAND HELD GAME IT PACKS ALOT OF PUNCH. YOU DONT NEED TO BE A HARD CORE GAMER TO PLAY THIS GAME, ITS VERY EASY TO GET THE HANG OF. THE GAME IS JUST LIKE THE MOVIES. IT STARTS FORM ROCKY ALL THE WAY TO ROCKY 5. IF YOUR A ROCKY FAN THIS GAME IS A MUST HAVE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Ladies and Gentlemen...The Itallian Stallion...Rocky Rocks!
When my friend got this game for XBox, I thought this game would stink. My bro and my friend played it all day long. So then I played it and...it was OK?! So then about a month or so I asked my friend if I could borrow Rocky for XBox. So I started to play it, and once I learned the controls, I liked it! So while my bro was playing a match, I went and looked up Rocky for GameBoy Advance. It looked awesome, so I put it on my birthday list. Well, I gave Rocky back to my friend, I was sooo sad! The next Sunday, my mom took me to get my science project materials. After we got them, we went to Toys R' Us(You guys rock)... I was so excited to get home and play it. I started in Movie Mode and couldn't get past Spider Rico. My stamina meter kept falling too fast. So I started working on the Heavy Bag and then got past Spider Rico. I then completed the whole movie mode. I had every boxer except the last two...??? The ROCKY STATUE and APOLLO MAX! So I completed Knockout Mode on Medium and Hard. I had every boxer in the game! I now play this game with Rocky V, Rocky Statue, and Apollo Max. The Movie Mode can give 5 to 10 hour of straight through play. It is awesome! The sound on this game is beautiful...especially "Gonna Fly Now." The gameplay is awesome too, there are eight punches, four left and four right. I totally recommend this game to any Rocky/Boxing fan, and even if you're just looking for a new GBA game, buy it...

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing great
u can finish it off in like 2 hrs...:(

4-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME IS GREAT!
this is the second game for my GBA and usually I shop not by the game but the graphics of it and when I saw Rocky it didn't look so great, but when I played the game the graphics were outstanding the best one I've seen so far the theme music is great and there are many different players to unlock like 30 and there are two secret players that I'm not going to mention to ruin the suprise. You can fight anywhere from the streets to the ring. He has all his signature moves and although it took me a couple of days to beat it and I don't play it anymore because once i finish a game I never play it againI will never regret buying this game and for $19.99 its a such a great deal!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fight! Fight! Fight!
I beat and mastered this game yesterday,(7-Dec-02), Which I had nothing else better to do, yesterday!!In the Movie mode you start out at the Orginal Rocky, to Rocky II fighting Apollo Creed, then Fight Clubber Lang aka Mr. T in Rocky III, then fight Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, then in Rocky V finally take on Tommy Gunn out in the streets in a never ending match.Plus numberous other fighters inbetween. Cool part about this game, is in the upper right and left hand corners of the screen is the boxer's face and the damage you're doing to them and what they've done to you. other worthy mention is, the boxing/fighting movements are more realistic then an most other boxing games.
The not so cool part about this game is its too easy!In the exhibition mode, difficulity set on Hard, I used the least skilled boxer and still beat Ivan Drago! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Baby fun cause it looks cool
The game look cool. Now I want the game.I`ll go crazy for the game.I want to go crazy.See U later but not that late.

4-0 out of 5 stars A little hard for young ones but not too bad
I bought this game for my 4 year old. Most of the instructions are on the display right before you start a game, but since he can't read, I have to explain them to him every time. Very time consuming for a Mom. I think once he plays with it enough he'll memorize the instructions, but I'd recommend it for readers.
There are a lot of short games within it, so if you are a "short-attention-spanner" this is for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars awful
this is by far one of the worst games i have ever played.this is a great example of some of the sub-par shovelware that has flooded store shelves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Navigation plus Challenging Games
My seven-year-old son just got this video game and loves it.The goal is to help Tommy find all the Rugrats; with each one you find, a new mini-game opens up.It was easy enough for my son to find the individual Rugrats, yet the mini-games are challening enough for him to want to do over and over. This game is good for kids' self-esteem and fun for them to play. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Horrid port of a classic game.
The evil scum of the Bydo Empire are at it again. So it's up to you to climb into your R-9 Ragnarok vessel and blast off to defeat the mutant alien slime.

This second sequel (or third if you count the Japanese Arcade-only R-Type Leo) was originally just as solid as any other game in the series. This GBA version is tepid to the point of redundancy. The cut-scenes have been omitted so the game is just one level after another. While the graphics look good they have a tacky cheapness about them that is distracting. And don't get me started on the music. The R-Type series is famous for having some of the most coolest of the coolest tunes ever, sort of like a futuristic space-rave. Sadly, in this GBA version they have been cut down to the most horrible sounding and basic midi files. It almost feels like there is no music at all. The gameplay just sucks, plain and simple. Nothing is about skill, instead one must memorise their way around the levels. There is no fun to be had in risk-taking as you will always lose coz the odds are so heavily against you. And too often there are long gaps in which nothing happens, just the ship cruising through empty space. And when you inevitably die you get sent miles back and must do it all over again. Since finishing this near-impossible games requires doing levels over and over again it becomes very repetitive and tedious very quickly.

Anyone keen to check out R-Type III ought to get the SNES version and leave this disgrace be. Unless you like game that will make you tear the hair from your head in frustration and bore the pants off you with the dull levels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This is an excellently fun and scathingly challenging shooter that I, personally, cannot wait to see ported to the GBA. It would make a very solid addition to the Game Boy library of any experienncd gamer or fan of shooters. To put it lightly, you must be like me and enjoy excercises in frustration. You will die many, many times before you memorize the enemy patterns and develop the neccesary reflexes to move on to the next stage.

I must disagree with the assertion, however, that this is the best R-type game out there. While this and the original R-Type, certainly makes the top 3, I believe that R-Type Final, with over 10 stages and 100 ships, is a much more well rounded portrait of the series as a whole. It has much more replay value as well. If you can't stand polygonal slowdown, though, R-Type III is certainly a viable choice. A very fun game indeed, if you are a fan of classic shooters or you are just looking for a very challenging GBA game, look no further than R-Type III.

5-0 out of 5 stars A forgotten classic
Irem's R-Type series is, without question, the finest space shooter series out there. The game took a basic concept, and completely rewrote the way it was done - and all for the better, too. They say the third time is the charm, but are they right? Read on for my review of R-Type III.

PROS:
-Unlike previous R-Type games, in which the Force Ball that attached to your ship was always the same, this game gives you a choice of three different force units! No two are exactly alike.
-The game will give you a good challenge. If you're looking for a challenge, you've come to the right place.
-There is considerably more variety here than in previous R-Type games.
-The game is much easier to find than its long out of print Super Nintendo counterpart.

CONS:
-The only thing really wrong with this game is the extreme difficulty. The Game Boy's small screen is a contributor to this. Though I actually LIKE being challenged, many gamers don't like hard games, and this may turn them off from even wanting to try the game.

OVERALL:
-If you only buy one R-Type game, the third installment in the classic series is your best bet. Do not pass this game by if you're a fan of side-scrolling space shooters - you'll only be hurting yourself if you do. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Iridion 3D is reminiscent of arcade shooters such asGalaga or Gradius, except that Iridion is done inover-the-shoulder third-person 3-D. The problem is that thisperspective really, really hurts the gameplay. One can only wonder howmuch better Iridion 3D might have been had the developers chosena more workable point of view.

Your ship sometimes blocks your sightline as you shoot, and it'sextremely difficult to accurately gauge distance and depth perception. Is that a small enemy that's close to my ship (maybe even about tocollide with it), or is it a large one that's farther away? Are theyshooting at me or are those "shots" actually distant ships? Are thoseenemies or part of the tunnel scenery? Another problem is the jerkycontrol. If you're flying through a tunnel trying to kill the bad guys, you should be able to literally fly in circles. With the Game BoyAdvance directional pad, squares are about all you can manage.

At least the game is extremely pretty to look at. Iridion 3Dboasts one of the best graphics engines available for the Game BoyAdvance, and considering the competition, that's no idle compliment.Progressing through the stages and worlds one is bombarded withbeautiful scenery almost as much as enemy fire.

Yes, the game looks spectacular, and it will partially appease arcadeshooter fans waiting for Game Boy Advance conversions of classics suchas R-Type and the aforementioned coin-ops. It's just tooimportant to see what you're doing in a game of this type to recommendthe title to anyone but the most hard-core fans of the genre.--Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Gorgeous graphics and explosions
Cons:
  • Your ship blocks your view
  • It's difficult to accurately gauge depth and distance
  • The controls aren't well suited to this style of play

1-0 out of 5 stars One flaming piece o' crap comeing right up!
If you buy this game your basicly getting ready to buy well, a flaming piece of crap! Although it may sound rude stareing at burning poop is more fun because you might catch on fire ohhh how exciteing. The only thing this game has going for it is graphics. Its not fun you shot at spinning dots for goodness sake! Ill go threw everything in the game and youll see why it sucks so so much

Gameplay 1/10: The game play is painfully bad. There is no saveing system you have to wright down a 'password' witch you get after beating a boss at the end of the level and of course in bad taste loseing to the boss causes you start all over. Also the game is incredibly difficult often takeing 10 or more trys to beat the first level!! Also you have no enemys really in the first level you shoot at spinning dots that change colors what the heck is that!!?? It takes about 2 mintues to die and start all over, gahhh!

Graphics/Music: 8/10 The music is pretty dang annoying but the graphics are very good especcialy for a gameboy. Of course the graphics are dark makeing it hard to see alot of times wow another mistake but theres no surprises there

Fun factor: 0/10 Yes the dreaded zero. Why do i give it zero, well its not a fun game at all not one bit. It feels like you are forceing your self to play it and since its so hard if you want to beat it youll be throwing it at your wall and screaming "Why the heck did i waste my money on THIS!" No wonder it comes free when you buy game boy advances.... Anyone who plays this most likely is forceing them selves to do it or are programers forced to play it.

Storyline: 3/10 The story line is pitiful but at least they tried. And its best jet fighter games dont have storylines no matter what. If its a airplaine fight game its goona suck in the storyline department so dont hold it against the makers.

All in all I think this game is painfully bad and the only good thing about it is its graphics witch simply do not make up a game. I cant believe any company made this much less nintendo. Dont waste your money on this spend it on something else theres so many better games then this, this flaming piece of crap!

4-0 out of 5 stars A giant piece of CRAP!
This game is hidous an absoulte diaster i dont know HOW it could get any worse let me just begin

Pros:
Good graphics
Good sound
Fairly good controls

Cons:
Heres were you see alot of things listed

You cant save you have to get past a point in the game to get a password to wright down and type in every time thats kinda bad

It takes like 3mins to die and you have to start the level all over again.

Theres NOTHING to do in it i mean all you do is press left and right and the A button thats right nothing else they could have at least used more than three controls. And also all you do is move left and right and shoot a simple things like garabage or some fan that is somehow floating in the middle of no where.

And lastly, its hard to hard it can take you awhile to just beat a level thats frustarting!

Over all sound and graphics dont make a game what it is so this game sucks dont getit inless you wish to be tourted itll save you 20 bucks to! So if i could give it 0 stars i would. Its a waste of space just to own

1-0 out of 5 stars More fun than... Nothing
I got Iridion 3D from amazon.com the other day ..., and thought I'd post a little review of it.

In short for the skimmers, I'm having more fun writing this review than I did playing the game.

The story of the game goes something like this:

Show picture of city
Show picture of battleship
Show 1, no... 2, no.... 3!! blips on a radar screen
Show distressed guy in control room
Show city again
Show UFO over city!
Show 3 evil space ships shooting city!
Show two buildings of the city on fire!!

Yes, that is literally how the introduction cinematic plays out, scene by scene. But before you see that, you watch 20 seconds of logos by the companies that made the game (they are non-skippable of course).

After that you are given a menu with a couple of options:

Start
Options
Password

Yes, that's right, the game has no memory at all. It doesn't save your options settings, and it doesn't save your progress in the levels. When you complete a level you are given a 9 digit code to write down in order to start the game from that level in the future. Amazingly, when you turn the game off and on again, that code still works, so it is obviously hard-coded into the game. But who is going to carry around a pad of paper with them so they can "save" and "load" their game? This may have been acceptable back in the days of the NES when you sat at home and could actually write down numbers, but the GBA is a portable game machine.

So after you press start or enter your password to start where you left off, you enter a level. The level names are quite creative... here are a few of them:

Dogfight above the Ocean
Air Combat above the Clouds
Escape through the Disposal tunnel

Yes, those are the real names of the levels. I think they fit in nicely with the storyline, don't you?

Upon entering a level, you begin moving forwards through the tunnel or over the ocean or above the clouds. You hold down the A button to start shooting, then you move up, down, left and right randomly. Repeat until you finish the game.

By holding the A button down, you reach the maximum firing rate of your ship. You don't even have to tap the shoot button really fast to shoot faster. Just holding down the A button is as fast as you can get. Then you move around, trying not to get shot by the other ships. The only problem with this is, your ship is so big and the angle so wrong, you can't even see the bullets that are coming at you half the time. In order to shoot an enemy ship, you have to position your own ship directly in front of them because of the perspective of the game, but in doing this, you completely block the enemy ship out of view and can't tell if you are hitting him or not, or if he is shooting at you. After 30 seconds of this, you quickly realize that it isn't worth it to try and shoot the other ships, so you just start hiding in a corner of the screen so you can actually see the bullets before they hit you.

However, this raises another problem. The field of depth in the game is completely wrong, and it is quite nearly impossible to tell when a bullet is about to hit you. When a bullet looks it is 300 "game feet" away from you, it is actually about 2 feet in front of your ship, and is about to hit you. Plus because your ship is so big, you don't even see half the bullets before they hit you.

Needless to say, this all makes the game terribly unfun to play, because you really have no way of avoiding a bullet that you can't see, or that looks like it should not hit you for another 2 seconds.

The boss battles are a little more varied, but still revolve around you trying to dodge their bullets while strafing back and forth enough to hit them until they die. But at least they are different, and allow you to see a few more visual tricks and treats.

The game is actually pretty easy once you realize that you should just focus on dodging bullets rather than trying to shoot at anything. I got to the 4th level out of 7 in less than 10 minutes. Sadly I don't think I will beat the game, because it is simply too boring to waste time on.

The one good thing I can comment on about the game is the graphics. They really are quite amazing for a GBA game, especially considering it was a launch title. The framerates are extremely smooth, and the graphics, though they are all 2D bitmaps, really give an excellent illusion of being 3D. Each level is unique, and matches the level description perfectly (Air combat above the clouds, for example).

Overall this is easily the worst GBA game I have played, and I would not recommend it to anyone. If I had payed any more than the [$$] I paid for it, I would consider suing the company that designed it to get my 10 minutes back.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its not Bad, Not Bad at all.
This game is not bad! I bought this game because it was 5 bucks and my expectations were low. This game is fun!!! its not one your going to play nonstop on a plane to antartica, however. The game has obvious flaws, but it still fun for at least 5 or 6 hours. The major Problem is the password save. Also, it is very rare when the ship blocks your view, it happens like, once a level. For 5 dollars this game is a steal and you should buy it. (P.S- Come to E3 some time because ti is soooooo much fun.)
P.S #2- Final Fantasy Rocks- Go Squall!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Hard at first
I give this game about 4.2. Its hard at first and then gets to be a bit fun to play. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is a gimmick!!!!
The levels are SO HARD to beat! The graphics are awful! It's the worst GBA game I have! It's a big gimmick! Don't make the same mistake that I have made!

4-0 out of 5 stars Lego Racers 2 rocks!
It is a really fun game. It is hard and chalenging but has neat things to do. You can build you own car, explore, go to neat places with good graphics, such as, Alaska, Mars. And if you do well you will beable to go to the Galactic Dome, where you wil find, see through loops big jumps, and a great racer! There will be able to become the best racer ever! I think that if you like challenging games that are really great, this is the game for you!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Great
The game LEGO Racers 2 is not a great game it is really hard, because you have to race a lot and you have to drive with your thumb and it is to hard to get bricks. If I were you I would not buy it but you should read the other reviews unless you already did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leog Racers 2 is fun.
This was my first GBA game for me. I am normally not good at games so I ask my self is it just me or is this game hard? I sya it is just me. The object is to collect bricks to get closer to the Racing Championship(I forgot what it is called so I picked this name. You need to collect enough bricks to go to the next level. Tired of doing a racing season? There are also arcade games. This game is good to any lego fan.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lego Racers II
This is a racing game by the people at Lego.It is a dark game, not sinister, but dark as in hard to see.It has many different options. All over the box and in the instruction manual it touts the multiplayer possibilities.Nowhere does it say that more than one cartridge is required, but I have come to the conclusion that each player must have a cartridge. It claims up to four people can play, I wouldn't know, we only own one cartridge. It has many mini-games and bonus games. Some requiring trips back to 'base.'These would be much easier to play if 'base' was distinguishable from everything else on the map.The game has a story mode similar to the original. You have to beat tracks to unlock new tracks. These new tracks then become available in the mini-games and bonus games. The game even has weather effects. It can provide lots of entertainment for one person with superior lighting. It would be much more fun if just some of the games were available to multiple players with just one cartridge required.Had I known of these drawbacks prior to purchasing, I probably would NOT have bought this game. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars What a rushed release without any consideration
The Serious Sam for PC and other consoles have great graphics and with familiar type of controls as that of Doom, Quake, etc. This version for GBA has all the opposite qualties as just described. You can tell each pixels apart and it comes at you like a swarm of bees while jerks up and down, making you dizzy. The controls are simply terrible.

Serious Sam Advance is the fourth best FPS for the GBA, and the 11th released for the system. The Serious Sam series is known for its huge assortment of weapons and enemies that appear from nowhere and fill the entire screen in massive wide open areas. Can all of that be crammed into a tiny GBA cart?Of course it can!But does it pay off?Of course it does!We get everything from the PC version on the pint-sized GBA!Serious Sam Advance is a serious FPS indeed with a well-deserved "M" rating and a nice arsenal of weapons that are serious as hell. You get a chainsaw (blood gushes from the enemies as it tears through them!), a pistol (no dual pistols, ah man!), a double- barreled shotgun (reloading looks neat), a tommy gun, a mini-gun, a rocket launcher (circular reload from the PC version is intact), a Prion gun (enemies attack each other), a fist weapon (press the button and it drops a piano on your enemy), a microvave gun (clone of the BFG from Doom), and of course, the serious cannon. If all of that wasn't enough, all of our favorite enemies are back (beheaded kamikazi!), but most are new. Before each mission, our Netricsa system updates us with hints on the level, weapon and enemy info, and statistics. Now comes the games downfall. The graphics aren't that bad, but they are a major step backwards from games like Duke Nukem Advance and Ecks Vs. Sever. The framerate also suffers from time to time and it is often hard to target an enemy but, alas, the game is a hectic non-stop joyride from start to finish!

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst first-person shooter on the Game Boy Advance!
In recent years, the Serious Sam series of first person shooters came onto the scene. And sadly, many games in the series have been, well, downright crappy. And recently, the creator of the series attempted to bring the series to the Game Boy Advance. How does this game measure up? Was making the series portable smart or stupid? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-IT'S A FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER ON THE GAME BOY ADVANCE! Well, that's about all the good things I can come up with to say about this game.

CONS:
-THE PLAY CONTROL IS HORRENDOUS! Sometimes it can take a whole second for my character to move! And when my character finally does move, it's either too much or not enough! This makes aiming extremely difficult.
-THE GRAPHICS ARE ALSO TERRIBLE. The graphics are extremely pixelated (as they often are in Game Boy Advance titles), but these bring new life to bad graphics in Game Boy FPS titles. You don't even have to be close to an object to see how pixelated it is!
-IT'S, RATHER OBVIOUSLY, A DOOM RIP-OFF. And since Doom is much better a game (and also available on the Game Boy Advance for the same price), why not just buy it instead?
-THE GAME DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO BEING WORTH THE PRICE THAT STORES CHARGE FOR IT. In my opinion, this game is worth, at most, maybe half a cent. That's about it. Hell, I don't even recommend renting this game to try it out!

OVERALL:
Horrible game, plain and simple. I could continue to ramble on about how much this game sucks, but I'm going to stop here and now. This game is so bad, it makes the so-called other bad first-person shooters on the Game Boy Advance look godlike! Take my advice and steer clear.

I am a racing bezerker. But this game is ROBUST!.Music is a little off track there games.MUST BY NOW!

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a good racing game!!!!!!!!!!!!
this game is awesome!!! you might look at it and think " hot wheels, this probably [stinks]". but think again. it has a good amount of cars to srart with and quite a few more to unlock. the graphics are good and the frame rate stays the same throughout the game. the gameplay is good. you can win by gassing it the whole time but you can also crush them by powersliding around thecorners and driving realistically. there are quite a few tuning options once you compete in enough races and save money. the AI is easy on the lower settings but once get to the last cup, you have to really race and use some strategy. this is agba title that belongs in the same category with advance wars, tony hawk 2, andmario kart super circuit. look past the kiddie hot wheels intro and you will find one of the better racing games and games overall on the gba. must-buy!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Hot Wheels: Burning' Rubber
I really enjoyed this game. This game is really cool because you are like an miniature car driving through a house and on the beach. This game is nice but the graphics are a bit poor and you would need to have two of these games to play multi player.

4-0 out of 5 stars GBA First-Person Shooting at it's finest!
Ecks Vs. Sever is the fifth best FPS for the GBA, and the 3rd released for the system.Ecks Vs. Sever was the first FPS I played for the GBA and was awed by how good the graphics and gameplay were.I had to keep reminding myself that I was, in fact, playing a Game Boy!Now 3 years later we have exactly a dozen FPSs available for the GBA and Ecks Vs. Sever still remains in my top 5!I enjoyed Ecks Vs. Sever more than it's sequel, Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever, because, all around, it's a better game.We have a great story, realistic weapons, real-word environments, and beautifully rendered enemy spirits. The game is awesome!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I bought this game because I wanted a new experience from boring old "E" games. This game did the trick. It is awesome. Weapons are cool, graphics are great, the storyline is better than could have been hoped. I won't give it away, but I will say that the game pits the two main characters against each other, but they don't know they are members of a much larger plot. I love this game. I would advise it to just about anyone, especially FPS enthusiasts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ecks vs. Sever.......
Back when the Gameboy Advance first appeared, First-Person Shooters were released by the handfuls. Unfortunately, they've become something of a rarity these days. I think, in part, due to the fact that alot of them had experiences that were too similar and gamers grew tired of them. With the exception of Ice Nine and Serious Sam Advance later this year, we're probably going to continue to see a lack of them. Which is why I'd like to recommend Ecks vs. Sever. One of the more exceptional games that was released earlier on in the GBA's lifespan. The game centers itself around an FBI agent and a rogue NSA agent who are pitted against one another. Each must terminate the other in order to survive. Lil' do they know, though, that they are pawns in a much larger conspiracy. With 24 intense single-player missions, the gameplay changes depending on whom you choose to play as....making Ecks vs. Sever, virtually, two games in one. You can even link up with friends and play Assasination, Deathmatch and Bomb Kit...all the while playing with heavy-duty firepower such as the Grenade Launcher, Sniper Rifle, 'Jackhammer', or the M16a Rifle. The thing that impresses me the most about this game is how the AI reacts when you shoot at themand, if you shoot them, how they fall like a real person would if they were shot. I'll admit, it's the closest thing I've seen to 3-D without the game actually being 3-D.Sure, the graphics may not be all that great but who really cares when you're having fun?I wouldn't go so far as to call Ecks vs. Sever the closest thing to Goldeneye the GBA will ever see but I will say if you like games with that flavor or you like games with a conspiracy twist, Ecks vs. Sever will fit the order quite nicely. Too, for all you FPS vets, it offers a pretty decent challenge. Ecks vs. Sever is one exceptional FPS I highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
this game [stinks].it got boreing after five minutes and freezes every fifeteen.after anhour this game was sold. the graphics are really bad.you never have enough ammo and the weapons shoot to quickly so all your ammo is gone.the most accurate weapon in the game is the sniper rifle because it is MANUALLY aimed.your shots do very little to the enemy and theirs take about HALF (thats right HALF) your live.the swat commanders take two clips on the m16 or 3 for the jack hammer (the most powerfull gun in the game but it fires to god damn slow) to continue a mission you need a frieken code.this game is NOT in any way at all realilistic.the guns do not hold the right amount of ammo. your weapons reload too slow and the enemys (even the guards( the weakest in the game and who have revolvers) seem to have an almost endless supply of ammo with no reload time.if youdo run out of ammo (and you will.your pitol which sucks) slowly feeds one and only one round into the chamber at a very very slow speed.all in all this game frekin [stinks] and the creators and design team need to be takin out back and shot(not letrally) for makeing this game which descraces the good name of nentindo and the GBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! WOW!!
THIS GAME IS AMAZING. I looked at these reviews on Amazon.com but I was still a little unsure. I got the game. Opened the package, picked ecks and started playing. IT IS AMAZING. The gun in front of you is like Gamecube graphics. The rest of the graphics are like N64 graphics in the first 007 on it.But for a gameboy? All I can say is WOW! It's fully panoramic and first person, there is strafing, opening doors. Running up stairs, hidden elavators and vent, like 20 guns, crouching, a very good plot, story, fun missions, 12 levelsable to be done with either ecks or sever, (each has a different thing to do. Example: Ecks: chase Sever and don't lose sight. Sever:make sure Ecks doesn't follow.)
which makes it like 24 levels, and fun. IT IS AN AMAZING GAME ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a huge hit with a 7 year old fan
My son is seven and just got his first game boy system for Christmas. He received a few games with it- Madden 2004 and a Mario game.He plays the Madden game over and over.I was worried about it being too hard or that he might not think it was fun.(He tends to like racing games, and this was totally different). But I decided to give it a try since he had just had his first experience with rec league football. In his words, "It might be hard for kids under 7 years old.I like it so much that I play it everyday and every minute. My favorite part is getting a touchdown and winning.I also like the song because it is cool!"

1-0 out of 5 stars the abyss
This was the worst sports game ive ever played.I can deal with sub-par graphics.I can deal with the fact that the plays are hard to see.But i couldnt take poor controls, the inability to save your game (not all of us are able to spend hours playing games) and the stupid create-a-player "feature",although ive never liked the unlimited attributes you can give in the pc version-kind of takes the fun out of it.i always like NHL 95 because you were limited to an over all total to give your created players.anyways if you must buy this game, buy it used then you wont be as upset when you find out how lame this is.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good handheld football game
This is a good football game.I'll give you both the good points and the bad points.

Good Points- You can play any team, and can either go with the traditional way of controlling whoever has the ball or controlling just one player per play.Either way is fun for me.The teams are updated, and almost all roster changes have been made. You can create a player in any position, and you can trade players from one team to another.I have created a kind of "ultimate" team composed of several super-stars.

Bad Points- Graphics not as good as with a big system, but that's to be expected. The team logos aren't in the middle of the field, just the NFL logo, but their names are in the end zone.It can get a little easy once you get the hang of it, but I have yet to try the higher difficulty level, which should change that.

Overall, this is a good game.I would recommend it to anyone who likes football games.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the WORST games I've ever played
The grphics look like there drawn with a gel pen. The WRs are VERY hard to see and the AI options lack alot. It is less fun then the old 92' games. I wased 30.00 dollers of my hard earnd mony no this trash.Just do not buy this buy this game iit is a waste.

1-0 out of 5 stars Play Madden '92
This game is garbage, I made a huge mistake of purchasing this product. I have been playing Madden since '92 and these graphics are worse than the old ones. Running the ball is vitually impossible and the WR's are hard to see weather they are open or not. The play control lacks in all spectrums of playability. It just felt like playing in a box with no air. Stick with PS2, X-Box and Gamecube versions. I hope EA puts more effort into producing a good hand held product for it's 2005 release. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is SUPER AWESOME
YEAH so I'm a little bit old for the power rangers but who can help but love the exciting power rangers time force game. This game is so addictive,Im hooked I play it again and again and again, you get the idea, kids ask your parents for this game I know when I did that was the best decision of my life.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST GAME EVER!!
Okay so I may be a 14 year old gamer but seriously Power Rangers? Well where to start? Let's see the sound is absolutely awful, the game has sluggish controls, so easy that even your gran could beat it, and definetely does not use the Game Boy Advance to it's full potential. Especially graphics wise. Thankfully I never brought this game ( I wasn't planning to anyway) in fact I just happened to try it out at my local games store. Even for five year olds this game is really bad. They would be way better off with something like wario Land 4 that is excellent.even I love that game! Power Rangers on GBAcould only be less enjoyable if it squirted sulphuric acid into your face. So don't buy it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Urban Combat on the go
This game is very fun for the military-minded person. The graphics are amazing, and give you a sense that youre in the ruined buildings in Urban cites in other countries. The missions are slow, and each moves has to be planned. You cant jump in because you'll hear a scream and watch your operative get hit by a sniper's bullet. The game all-in all has a very great story. I played this game on a...in total..20+ hour trip back and forth and it has entertained me 2000+ feet in the air :)

If you like guns, the military, or strategic combat, this is the game for you. No music obviously, a clancy game, but a fun game once you master it and get past the first level. The controls are AMAZING and its just amazing how quick the button combos are and how eaisly you can stage complex assaults. Try this: blow down a door with a shotgun with guy, throw a flashbang with another, and move in to clear the room all under seconds with a total of 5 buttons on a screen few inches large? Thats a work of art.

5-0 out of 5 stars rogue spear is a lot of fun
This is one fun game! Counterterrorism games are often repetitous and boring but this one is so much better. You have a team of four combat speacialists and you lead them into close quarters combat engagements to rescue hostages, defuse bombs, install cameras, and much more. You have the option of choosing one or more of th following types of soldiers: assault- the basic assault commando with automatic weapons designed for CQB (close quarters battle) and rescue ops, the demolition speacialist- with a giant bazzoka type gun that kills in one hit but reloads slowly and has a suprisingly small clip. The sniper speacialist is good for two things. 1. checking out a room ahead for guards, and 2. eliminating single patrollers and carries a high-powered sniper rifle with fairly accurate aiming, and finally recon- helps you track enemies on the radar and backup fighter with their MP-5's.the only problem is the stealth missions, i have beaten the game once but forgot how to do mission number 5...check this game out, its really great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Strategy Game, but...
This game is good and all, but the bad part is how I can't beat the 9th level. I only rated 5 stars just because it was fun for the last 8 levels. The 9th level is another recon mission. Level 5 was hard enough, but this one takes it way too far! Overall, though, this game is cool. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Moto GP is an uncomplicated arcade motorcycle racer that bearsmore than a passing resemblance to Sega's Hang On series from yesteryear. Thecontrols are too simple for their own good, but if you like straightforwardracing without power-ups, weapons, jumps, and all that other jazz, there'senough here to keep you interested.

The game's graphics are very good compared to most other GBA racing titles, andquite reminiscent of 16-bit racers. The rider is fixed in front of the player,nice-looking background scenery scrolls lazily from side to side during turns, and the roadway and peripheral scenery blurs by. An onscreen speedometermeasures your rate, but the motion blur of the periphery, which gives thesensation of speed, seems only to have three settings--slow, medium, and fast.We stuck primarily to the Gran Prix, in which you have to qualify by landing inthe top four positions to make it to the next track. Unfortunately, there's nobattery save for this game, and passwords come only at the end of a leg--four orfive tracks, or about 20 minutes of racing.

The game would have benefited from more advanced controls. Players aren'tallowed to shift gears or adjust their lean with the shoulder buttons. Accidentsare too easy to avoid, as your chirping tires give ample warning before they letgo of the roadway. Another complaint is that the weather effects in this game(sunny, partly cloudy, rainy) are just for looks. The game gives just as muchtraction to a dry track as a wet one. We tried shortcutting a couple of turnsand all but once we were kept miraculously upright and inside until the turnbegan--a flaw, true, but one you may want to exploit to your advantage.

Moto GP is not a great game, but it errs on the side of simplicity andaccessibility, and we can forgive that. This game is right for kids and motofans waiting for something better to come along on the GBA. Multiplayercompetition by networking GBAs together with alink cable should be a gas,but it does require extra copies of the game. --Porter B. Hall

Pros:

  • Sharp graphics
  • Very accessible, especially to younger players
Cons:
  • Controls are too simplistic
  • Cumbersome password save feature

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Racing Game I've ever seen for a portable system ...
I thought V-Rally Racing was awesome for the GBA but when I bought the Moto GP. I totally agree with the two previous reviews. This game is really fun and totally awesome graphixs. If you find this game it's worth buying ! The Moto GP for the Xbox and PS2 are equally as good. If you like motorcycles and motorcycle racing this is for you. Check out and you'll agree.

This is a very good game the contorl is Great it is way better then the Pictures make it look you wont regret buying this one its a Winner

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Driving Game on Game Boy Advance!
Moto GP is definitely the most exciting, full-throttle racing game on Game Boy Advance. You can race as one of 12 different racers from around the world with different skill levels and with their own unique bicycles including Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha. You can race on 16 different tracks all with unique weather, backgrounds, lengths, and difficulty of turns. By winning tournaments in Grand Prix Mode you can get bonus tracks, new racers, and faster motorcycles. Quick Race Mode lets you play one course at a time and you can select the number of laps you wish to race. Plus, up to four people can compete against eachother on every course with any racer.

The graphics are excellent, the courses are very detailed and beautifully designed. The play control is incredibly smooth and easy to use. The music does a great job of setting the tone for the race and the sound effects are simply amazing. This game has a strong replay value that will make this masterpiece very hard to put down. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars This Game Should Be Lost With The Continent!!!
I received this game with great excitement when I was very new to the GBA. At first, this game was very exciting. But after I passed the first three levels, it was way too hard. So all I know is that this game is really iffy. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that. I mean, sure, the first level, which is the boiling room, is cool. Then the second level where you need to rescue the fifteen-trapped crewmembers within 5 minuets. That's nice, too. Then the third level where you need to get to the aqua-evac escape subs. Even if it's boring, it's good. But then there's level four where you need to follow Kida toward Atlantis. This is why I hate it. It's impossible to win!!!!! Don't buy this game. Well that's it. I hope this review has helped you and encourages you not to get this game cartridge.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good game
I am an adult who likes difficult games.I enjoyed this game because there was a lot of strategy. You have to gather a specified number of crystals on each level and find hidden objects. You can easily complete some of the first levels without finding things, but what fun is that. I like to discover every element of the game. Some levels have a time limit which adds to the challenge. Each level has a password so you can keep trying until you find everything if you want. I have played for hours and still have not collected every crystal, but have completed the game. Even though it is a Disney game, it may be to hard for younger children to complete. It helps to read the hints in the instruction manual.
