The play control is tight, with good response, and natural button choices (buttons on the left punch with your left arm, etc). And, oh yeah, it's kind of like Punch-Out! There are 3 save game slots to keep your record and money. But this is still a $20 game and they had to cut corners somewhere. Well, actually I don't know if they HAD to, but they did. This game is very short and can be beaten with relative ease, in the first setting, with the exception of the final boss, Don. That guy is quite hard. The other thing is that while the control is tight, it is also pretty shallow. You have six basic punches, but very little distinguishing one from the other. Anything a left punch will do, a right punch will do as well. The super moves you can buy are not very impressive, but they help improve the depth a bit. Maybe some people out there would stay interested in this game for dozens upon dozens of hours. I am not one of these people. It's a good game, buy it if it sounds good to you. But it's only a real deal at $20. You can think of it as a really flashy skin put on old Punch-Out! gameplay. Or you can think of it as an incredibly shallow fighting game, that is also very pretty. Chances are you'll start out the former and end up the latter. But, I still say someone in the mood for handheld arcade boxing will enjoy this.
By the way, this is the first video game I've ever ordered from Amazon. I ordered it because a certain enormous Video Game store chain (same initials as Eloping Baboons) has decided not to carry it. That company's buyer is, apparently, an idiot. Thank you, Amazon, for making such a great game available!

Amazon.com Review Featuring 150 different wrestlers from which to choose, each with his or her ownmoves and finishers--as well as the option to combine more than 1,200 techniquesand styles to create your own grapplers for the 3-D isometric ringside--FirePro Wrestling doesn't lack variety. You can even link up your GBA unit tofight against your friends or trade wrestlers you've created. You can also play against the computer, which turns out to be a pretty goodopponent. The game takes full advantage of both the A and B and the shoulderbuttons, so the control is solid. Getting used to the time delay for punches andkicks can be frustrating, however. The manual does an excellent job in teachingyou the tremendous variety of moves, and once you've learned what you can do,the gameplay is extremely satisfying. About the only thing lacking from the game is familiar personalities. Inoffering so many fighters, each seems rather bland, and one is often a thinvariation on the last. Of course, your own imagination can let you add aRock-like or Mankind-esque wrestler, if that's what you want. Anyway, it's good funfor a handheld. Can you smell what your Game Boy is cookin'? --Andrew S.Bub Pros: Reviews (41)
select EDIT SUPERSTAR go to NAME ENTRY. on the first line type ALL on the line below it type STYLES and on the line next to that type CLEAR. This should unlock all the hidden wrestlers.
FPW offers a generic line up of wrestlers. You can pick from 16 different organizations, including a free agent pool. The names on the wrestlers are pretty generic, ranging from The Bionic Man to Mauler. I was going to discount this as another bland roster until I discovered the create-a-wrestler option. This game has the most detailed create-a-wrestler I have ever seen. You are allocated 260 points, which seems more than enough at first glance. Everything you enhance on your wrestler takes points. You can customize everything from their recovery time to what attacks are their strongest. You can even customize their AI fighting style. This is definitely the best create-a-character yet. The feel of the game is not what I expected. FPW reverts to the old Tag Team Wrestling (NES) style of play. Pressing directions at certain times and tapping a button will determine your moves. It is a simplistic style, but also annoying when you hit the wrong button. FPW lacks the ability to run straight. You can only run in a diagonal direction, meaning that your charge moves must be very well placed. As for the graphics, I was pleased with the smoothness of motion. Overall, I believe this is a should rent title. It is not the greatest, but there is definitely some value to the game. I liked it, but I can not see myself playing it four months from now. ... Amazon.com Product Description LEGO Bionicle is an action-adventure game in which players become that brave Tohunga. You will complete several quests in six areas so you can discover the stones that will summon the Toa. Along the way, there are more than 20 levels of traps, puzzles, and adversaries to face. The six multiplayer Tohunga athletic games also let you play with friends. Players customize their Tohunga characters much like they do the toy line. You can choose masks as well as biomechanical limbs and torsos. The game even syncs with your Bionicle toys. Enter codes from the packaging and you'll gain access to secret game-enhancing features. Visually, LEGO Bionicle offers a top-down perspective, and its vertical and horizontal parallax scrolling makes the gameplay more interactive. Best of all, the game takes full advantage of the Game Boy Advance platform, letting you link up to four GBA units so you can play with friends. Reviews (47)

My suggestion to these game programmers...take a look at the X-Men games and give us more characters to choose from next time. Don't limit yourself to the cartoon only. The JLA has had dozens of members over time (some cool, some lame), and you could really make some great additions to the lineup next time. How about Green Arrow, The Atom, or even Plastic Man for that matter? Impress us. Recommended.

Many Gameboy Advance games I've played just don't allow you to slowly build up skill. The Revenge of Shinobi, for example, had me seething thanks to the lack of checkpoints, overlong levels and overly powerful enemies. And there was no Difficulty setting available for new players to gently ease into expertise. This game does, happily, and being a newbie to the game I needed this feature in order to slowly learn the moves and master the mechanics. I wasn't optimistic about the prospect of fighting games on the four-buttom Gameboy Advance, but the Mortal Kombat series proves to be highly suitable for the platform. And the response is quite good; I was actually able to execute a lot more moves here than on my old SNES Mortal Kombat game. There is also a load of extras to unlock using "Koins" that you earn by playing various modes of the game. If I have one gripe, it's that there aren't too many characters to choose from.Twelve is on the low side for a fighting game in 2003.A minor complaint, however, for what is generally a very good, playable package.
This opus renewed my faith in the series. The difficulty is well adjusted, the graphics and sound are just as good as I would expect them to be on GBA, and the gameplay is great. This is such a welcome change after MK-A (which was so difficult that it was downright frustrating). Don't let your past experience with MK-A deter you from buying this great game. Think of MK-D.A. as a redemption game from Midway.
