Amazon.com Product Description The Game Boy platform (which includes the original unit, the Game Boy Pocket, and the Game Boy Color) came to market when most video game consoles had a life expectancy of just a few years. More than a decade later, the system is still going strong. How did the Game Boy successfully compete--and in some cases bury--an onslaught of faster, more powerful handheld and home console systems? Let us count the ways: affordability, a huge library of games that consistently made the most of the hardware's limitations, smart power management that extended battery life, and uncluttered controls. But perhaps it was the system's ultraportable design that allowed devotees to play video games around their schedules, making it the must-have system for kids and adults alike. Now the Game Boy Advance (or GBA as people are already calling it) comes to us with power that would have been unthinkable back in the day. The portable's 32-bit RISC CPU runs circles around the former's 8-bit workhorse, allowing it to process program instructions much faster. What that means to everyday gamers is more intricate visuals, more simultaneous movement on the screen, and better sound. In fact, the often-annoying beeps and boops of old-school Game Boy titles are being replaced with digitized stereo sound. The extra processing muscle also means you can even network up to four Game Boy Advance units together, via the communication cable, for multiplayer fun off of one shared cartridge. Only two Game Boy Color units could link together, and each unit had to have a copy of the game. What's not being replaced, however, is the wide selection of Game Boy games. Because the Game Boy Advance system is backward-compatible, it will play its own line of colorful games--including such launch titles as Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Army Men Advance, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2--as well as all of the monochrome and color games that have already been released for the previous Game Boy systems (nearly 500 of them in total). Players can view the older games in their smaller, originally square dimensions, or, with the touch of the shoulder button, expand the game to fit the GBA's larger screen. We tried enlarging the screen on a Game Boy Color edition of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and found that Mr. Hawk was much easier to see. When you first pick up the system, you'll be amazed at how lightweight it is. At fewer than 5 ounces and a little larger than a deck of playing cards, the system easily fits into a shirt pocket without any sag. The GBA's wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands. The former design too often pushed the left and right thumb knuckles together during gameplay. The new layout should be comfortable for all ages, and the center screen orientation makes it easy to see. Game Boy Color owners will find the GBA's larger screen somewhat darker than they're used to, but that's because the screen is outfitted with antiglare technology. Like the old Game Boy Color, the color LCD is not backlit, so you need pretty good light to play by. Unlike that system, though, you won't be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the hot-spot reflection of the light bulb in your screen. But you'll also notice the graphics. Sporting what's basically a redesigned SNES technology, you'll see things on the GBA that the big consoles do, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects--technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to throwing a touchdown pass to crawling through a dungeon. Some might argue that Nintendo could have put even more power into the Game Boy Advance. After all, the 32-bit video game had its heyday more than five years ago. Perhaps, but after handling this new handheld, we're inclined to think that Nintendo wisely struck a balance among size, price, and power consumption. And considering how well the old 8-bit system weathered the decade's technological storms, we think the Game Boy Advance is here to stay, and we're glad. --Porter B. Splinter Cell, however, does become slightly frusterating. You have to play and play and play to get to an area where you can save. If you're going to play it, make sure your gameboy has a full battery. This is the best Gameboy Advanced game I have yet to play.
Luckily, the gameplay in the Gameboy Advance version of Splinter Cell is smooth enough to keep you coming back. But a large chunk of the enjoyment is eliminated by the poor game-save system. You could plow through six or seven different parts, hanging on to your health by a thread, and then miss one step and get blasted back several steps in the game. Some repeat gameplay is necessary for this genre, but this one goes too far. The graphics are unexceptional but acceptable. The idea of having multiple puzzles to solve (for example, when you upload top-secret files to your superiors, the game gives you a twisty maze puzzle to solve) is a great one and adds to the scope of the game. However, they really should have added a much more comprehensive tutorial to the Training level of this game. While the puzzles tend to be very intuitive, the in-game obstacles are not.How about actually telling us that our rifle is silenced and that you can shoot cameras out without alarming the guards?Or how to get around an automatic gun turret without being seen?No One Lives Forever did a great job in this department, training you in the use of gadgets and various in-game activities before you're thrown out into the missions, preventing unnecessary replays just to figure out what to do. I do play this game quite a bit, despite the high frustration factor, but by the time I'm forced to replay certain boneheaded parts of a mission the 30th time just because of one super-tough obstacle at the end, the enjoyment's sucked dry. They should have added more checkpoints along the missions. As it stands, this is a good game, but if you're only a casual game player like me instead of a thumb wizard, you better be prepared for multiple repetitive, eventually tiring replays.

Amazon.com Product Description Rendered in cartoonlike graphics, the game has players walking, running, jumping, climbing, and crawling through wacky, colorful worlds. Should Donald collide with an enemy, his explosive temper will kick in and transform him into a berserk ball of flapping wings and angry quacks. In Time Attack mode, tempers flare even faster as players race against the clock with enemies in hot pursuit. Reviews (7)
I do have to admit that some levels are pretty tricky but the more you'll play the level it'll be easier. The graphics of this game are wonderfull, we would say that it's 3d.I recomand this game to anyone who likes adventure games.

This is a tetris type puzzle game is fun and simple.it is the type of game you play for hours and lose track of time. I would reccomend this game to people of all ages. if your looking for a great puzzle game you've found it!
The very core of this addictively fascinating game is this "Chain Combo" system where you have to think carefully before you place your falling pieces. You see, the thing with tetris is that you don't really have to think about how you would build your blocks and eliminate them, just keep on stack them and eliminate them whenever you have the right piece (unless you are after big scoring). However, PuyoPop forces you to think before you lay that slowly falling piece if you are going after chain combo, while being able to see what color pieces will be coming next.Of course, this game can be played as tetris, where you just stack them in group of four and eliminate them. However, the real fun comes when and only you play to build this chain combo, and trust me, you will have to think hard (ok, at least for me). I bought GBA Link to play with my friend, and trust me, and trust me, there's nothing like this (and man, I can't believe I'm 28..feel like I'm in jr. high again..) The story mode wasn't that convincing, not at all, but it's better than nothing..yet I believe that this kind of corny story line might be perfect for kids, who know how to appreciate them (in fact, this corny story line might be just perfect for this kind of game..). I can just picture two people, dad and daughter, friends, brothers, sisters, and even lovers.. the possibility is endless...Don't miss this what could be the best multi-player game of all time and experience what the fuss is all about. Ok, I better go and practice to take him down with chain-combo attack!! ... Read more

If all this sounds a bit dark ... RELAX!This is a game that earns its E for EVERYBODY rating by being cute and fun.Fans of METROID FUSION aren't going to find it very challenging, but young gamers and adults who miss the days of MARIO WORLD will be pleased with it.Some will feel the elements are recycled. You gather sparks and trinkets along the way (Sonic or Mario), and you battle small henchman to big bosses (name any side scroller game). But it's all well done and good fun!I loved it!It's immediately playable but not too easy. I want more games like this believe it or not.Fun, cute, and charming! ... Read more

Graphics are identical to the original 16 bit titles, sound effects sound the same, but boss patterns have changed some. Also, because of screen size, there are some rather cheap deaths once in awhile.Surprisingly, this doesn't detract from the game at all.Plays as well as any Contra did.For a portable title, this game is excellent and it's goodness outshines any flaws.

Amazon.com Review The game features two teams of squat, cartoonish, big-headed kids. Some are onthe playing field and some reside in the back zone ready to scoot up a lob andnail an opponent in the back or from the side. The animations, particularly whena kid gets squashed, are amusing, and, after all, are also the point of thegame. Amass points and win the match, then move on to the next horde ofbig-headed kids. There are several kinds of throws you can make to surprise your opponents, including a cool corkscrew throw and a straight-up overhanded bean ball. As youknock teams out (no pun intended), you advance toward the world competition(shades of South Park here), where you represent your favorite nation. You can also link up with an opponent for a little head-to-head action, which isthe best way to dish out some virtual pain onto local bullies who lack your madvideo gaming skills. --Andrew S.
