5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Fire Red
This is a great game.I couldn't stop playing the game. This game is a huge improvement over Pokemon Red Version. The graphics and gameplay are better tehan Ruby or Sapphire.Trust me this is much better than any other Pokemon game.I have been playing video games since 1996.I played this game for 25 hours and 48 minutes. So get this game.Gamespot gve it an 8.4 out of 10.Get this game,it's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Addiction
I had not played Pokemon games before--I was under the wrong impression that they were just for children and then there was a lot of media attention on Fire Red and Leaf Green--I was going on a long trip so I got Fire Red. It takes a lot of memorization skills to play Pokemon games WELL so adults can enjoy these games, in my opinion. For those who haven't played before, Pokemon are actually VERY intricate and there are different TYPES of Pokemon so you have to remember their abilities and what types can easily beat other types and you switch Pokemon in battle depending on their strengths and abilities. Of course the graphics on this game are very, very good. What I liked best was the ability to get ingame help and for some reason it just really tickles me to see the little hand pick up my Pokemon and move them to or from the storage boxes.I also like the fact that when I turn the game on it rehashes the last few things I did before stopping gameplay last time. This is really good for me because I don't get to play everyday and if too much time goes by, I do forget my last "moves".I also have Pokemon Crystal for GBC and, I think it is a little easier...so if you'd like to try Pokemon, maybe that is a better game to learn first...Both have been very fun and entertaining for this adult gamer.Gotta catch 'em all...

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best pokemon games yet
This is a very fun game for people that have not played the original red version. But for the people that have it is still fun because of the additions of the different islands. Plus it comes with a wireless adapter so you can play games, chat, trade and battle wirelessly. Plus the graphics are much better than the original versions except for ruby and sapphire. this is definitly the best pokemon game they've created. My favorite part about the game is the inproved graphics and the adition of the islands and the wireless adapter. The reason I like these parts is because I have played the original red version and compared to this game it is supreme. I would recommend this game to older people as well as younger people becaus it is fun and also challenging for the mind. Because you have to cordinate you team and solve pulles, like the one in victory road when you have to push a certain block into just the right place. In all I would recommend this game to everyone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing...
This game sounded fun when I first heard about it.Once I started playing it, I knew that my money had not been spent well.Fire Red is too much like the old version Red.I would not recommend either game for Pokemon starters.[...].The graphics are much better and you can get more Pokemon (such as Jirachi or Deoxys).

4-0 out of 5 stars Try this game-- it is very fun!!
This is a wonderful game, where you catch and train pokemon and become the best trainer in the world. It is very fun!! Hook up with a Wireless adapter and you can battle, trade, play games, and more with your friends! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dora and Boots are the best!
I bought this for my 2 yr old daughter. She loves Dora and boots. I thought about buying a portable DVD player for our vacation but they are so expensive, batteries last for 2 or 3 hours, and I was worried about her dropping it and breaking it. I saw these videos at Walmart and thought for $18.77 I would give it a try. She loves the videos and you can lock the control buttons so they can't start it over or fastforward. We now own Strawberry Shortcake and the Spongebob Vol 2. If you already own a GBA these wonderful for trips. I believe they are going to make more videos and can't wait for another Dora to come out. We are going on 2 different plane trips and have to change planes and I am taking this with us. The battery life of the GBA is so long I have rarely run out of power. And the unit is small enough to fit in my purse so packing it is no problem. I would recommend this to every one with small children.

4-0 out of 5 stars Way cool!
I bought this for my 4yr old daughter (to use on her big bro's gameboy advance). She loves it. Forget video now, get this instead. The video runs for 40 minutes plus. Great for car rides, long lines etc. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this game. I couldnt love it more if i tried!
this game is fun and challenging. i will list some clues to help you:

book 1 - when the lady at the very end after the lady that throws puffballs, DO NOT LET HER HIT YOU. then after you jump and duck a few times, youy can hit her with an apple.

book 2 - the hook handed man: jump over his head

book 3 - go int0o captain samms, and try to get top t he top of there, but first get the sandwich from a guy that is outside. at the fortune teller, get a pees of paper, and write the symbols on there.

3-0 out of 5 stars What's more fun than doing errands?
I got the Lemony Snicket game for Christmas after reading the books and watching the movie. It's about 3 kids who lost there parents in a terrible fire. They are then taken to guardien after guardien because all of there guardiens either die or turn out to be evil. When I got the game I started to play it and was dissapointed with it.You have to fight enemies and do puzzles but most of all, you just run around and do errands. Now I'll tell you the number of stars for specific things in the game.

Fun ****(4 stars)
I gave this game four stars for fun because I thought it was kind of challenging. There were some parts which were confusing and I had to get help, but other than that, this gamedeserves 4 stars for fun.

Storyline **(2 stars)
This game didn't follow the storyline of the books or the movie very well. There were tasks which were made just to make the game long enough for the players. They weren't in either the books or the movie. Also, there were places in the game which had nothing to do with the storyline like in Uncle Monty's bckyard. In his backyard is the Montgomerey Forest which wasn't in the books at all.

Graphics ***** (5 stars)
This was probably the best thing in the game. The graphics were clear and they were also detailed. The children's (Violet, Klaus, and Sunny) clothes moved when they walked and the backgrounds were detailed. Also, when you are outside, the sky is clear and blue when it should be and dark and gloomy when it should be.As I said before, the graphics were clear and much more detailed the nother games.

Length ***(3 stars)
This game was pretty short. The only thing which made it seem long was all of the puzzles which were put into the game which made no sense whatsoever. If you got past some of the puzzles pretty quickly, then you'll see what I mean about the game being short.I finished the game in 4 days! Of course, if you are a player who doesn't finish games very fast and likes them when thy are easy, then this is a game for you. That's why I gave this game 3 stars for length.

Sound *** (3 stars)
I gave this game 3 stars for sound because it wasn't very clear and it didn't go along with the plot very well. For instance, when you are being told that your parents died the music isn't all gloomy and dark.Instead it is just like regular. The only thing good about the sound was that when you changed rooms, the music changed too.I just wish that Activision would have done a better job when choosing music for this game.

Overall *** (3 stars)
I gave this game3 stars overall because that was what it deserved. There wasn't anything special about it and it was kind of boring. If you are thinking of getting this game, I recomend renting it first. Then, if you still like it, then I would go and buy it.Even then, you still might start not to like it so if I were you, I would make sure I would be able to return it if I didn't like it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Booooooooooring
This game is very dumb. All you do is run around and do chores. Then you have to figure out what to do without much instruction.I have finished the game and am not satisfied. The game ends abruptly and you get no reward for winning. To beat the final boss, all you have to do is burn a paper. TOO EASY!This game was boring and I would not recomend it to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars ------------
Dont buy this stupid game!!!!it has nothing to do with the books, you just do stupid things like getting tomatoes!!!buy the book instead and read all 12 of them. I read them all and its much more fun. If you play the game before reading the book you will ruin the great experience of reading the tale about the Baudelaire Orphans.

1-0 out of 5 stars BOO!!!!!!!!!
this game stnks! the graphics are horrible! All you do is walk around and do errands! It's sooooo boring. I wish I could rate it a 0 {zero} ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Great!!!
This game is really fun but challenging I've played it at least 4 times and had to look at a walk through every time! You'll see all the hams you know from the show and even different hamsters. You save Bijou in the beginning by driving a boat but how to get it working you'll see buy the game as you and Bijou save love for all ham hams in 6 fun challenging levels

5-0 out of 5 stars tinglie! koochi-q! i Smoochie it!
I got this game for christmas from my parents and i've played it ever since. i is kinda
hard to beat but easy at the same time. i've bet it three times now but it is fun all the same. I needed cheats every once in a while. it is one of my three favorite GBA games; harvest moon: friends of mineral town, hamtaro: ham-ham games, and last but not least, Hamtaro: ham-ham heart break.
thank-Q!Bye-Q!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!
I love this game so much! Hamtaro is my favorite show! It was fun playing it for a really long time and the game lasts awhile, but then I beat it and there is nothing left to do on it. That's why I don't play it anymore. But it was fun while it lasted!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Ham-Ham game
This game is so fun because you can go to differemt places that have hamsters that don't love each other any more. You have to restore thier love. This evil hamster named Spat is trying to stop the hamsters from loving, and only you can stop him. You can even learn more ham-chats as you go to other places. As you go along, you will find rocks, acorns, and sunflower seeds. There are more challenges as you go farther into the game. If you have this game, then I hope you like it. If you don't have this game, then you should try it, I think you might really like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best game ever!

1-0 out of 5 stars I think not
This game was so boring when it came out. It was all hyp nothing more. the AI still sucks, the cards you get suck even the whole RPG theme it has going sucked. Like one someone said you get your first starter deck and you think your ready to go nope, some little loser starts bothing you and telling you that the cards in your deck aren't meant for dueling so you have to discard them from your deck. The game is slow the whole thing about resting is boring , dueling a dog is stupid and i still wonder why we're still useing some guy we dont even know. The guy has goku hair if you look at it, im serious. But over all the game is a waste of money. If you want to dish out cash you might as well send it to me.

4-0 out of 5 stars purty good
i agree the beginning is very annoying. i got this game yesterday and was really frustraded. But when i got the hang of it it's purty good. now most of my monsters have an attack of 1700 and i have one 3 tournaments. whats up with that dueling cat and dog Freaky...

1-0 out of 5 stars Another item on the list of buy for the cards, not the game
VERY ANNOYING.

This game even starts off annoying. You must BUY your opening deck with duel points that you start with. Now, that is okay but when the starter decks are Yugi's original, Seto's original, and Joey's, then that is a little rough given this game goes by the NEW rules. The first time you try to get into a duel, you are penalized and cannot duel because the deck has Monster Reborn or Dark Hole or Ring of Destruction. All illegal cards now.So you have to take out those cards and put in crappy monsters (1400 or less attack) and try to duel people so you can get points to get more cards.

Given that there are NO easy matches in here (even Tristan will kick your butt this time), getting points is VERY hard. Not to mention you have to go to your house after you do win and sleep to save your win because I've not found that it auto-saves yet.And each time you sleep, the day of the week changes. So basically, you get 1 duel a day unless you push your luck and risk more.

This entire game series is really getting to the point of not being worth messing with.If I didn't have to give it at least one star, I wouldn't bother. It's a sad day for those of us who love the Yugioh franchise. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Ms Pac-Man goes problem solver
Ms Pac-Man was apparently bored with just munching pac-dots and finding inventive ways to elude her colorful adversaries. The pac-dot munching diva gobbles and puzzle-solves her way through this decent maze-tromping game, which offers quite a variety of challenges. Those looking for classic Pac-Man style action should be warned. This is mostly a puzzle game.

The story is about some witch who is terrorizing Pac-Land; and to stop her, Ms Pac-Man has to find the four lost gems of purity...or something.I didn't pay it much attention. The story isn't all that essential anyway.

There are thirteen large levels here, set in four worlds. An Egyptian temple, ice caves, a city, and a haunted castle. Each level has four separate goals.Completion of each goal earns you a star, and getting all of the stars will gain a 100% completion of the game. For starters, you can reach the end of the level within a preset time limit.Gobbling all of the pac-dots in a level is also worth a star.Finding all of the fruit in a level earns a star. Finally, you can get a fourth star by beating the level's par score.A good number of stars are needed to finish the game.

The levels are presented in a 2-dimensional, semi-overhead view. You can see the fronts of the walls, and sometimes Ms Pac-Man is partially obscured from view when she moves behind a wall. That kinda thing.Hopefully you get the idea. Each level is a large labyrinth with traditional style areas and puzzle areas (and sometimes a mixture of both).Traditional style areas are a maze full of pac-dots, a ghost home, and sometimes there are teleporters that you can use to move to the opposite side of the field. The colorful ghosts are present, and they will give chase when they see you.Gobbling a power pellet enables Ms Pac-Man to turn the tables on the ghosts. They turn blue and run away. She can chase them down and devour them for points.

The puzzle areas involve a variety of things.Movable blocks, exploding blocks, wall switches, pressure pads on the floor, doors that will only open after you've eaten the required number of pac-dots, doors that require keys, platforms that carry our heroine across abysses...Lots of cool stuff you can interact with. There are also larger enemies prowling the corridors of the labyrinth.Mummies, snow men, dragons, wolves, vampires, and some other guys. All of these guys are just as vulnerable to a power pellet as the ghosts are.Ms Pac-Man has a health bar, and she takes damage if a ghost or other bad guy touches her.Finding a heart replenishes some health.

There are also plentiful hazards to avoid.Steam vents, death blocks that are worth an instant death if you touch them, fire crackers, and other harmful things.

The puzzles here are all logical.Ms Pac-Man has to find inventive ways around obstacles, pushing blocks around and using springs to get to the top of the maze's walls. There's a lot of stuff to do, and it's all pretty easy to figure out.I completed most of the game the same day I got it.I came back later and finished it up with just a little difficulty.Ms Pac-Man starts out with a few lives, but extra lives can be found in the mazes. Some of them are pretty easy to come to by, while others require puzzle solving to grab.I had acquired over 100 extra lives by the time I finished.

Visually, the game looks good.No complaints.Ms Pac-Man is well animated as she walks around (she has arms and legs here). The labyrinthine environments have some artistic style to them. Each theme is well represented, with embellishments that set the mood. The background music is just sort of there. It's nothing extraordinary. There are a few themes that rehash throughout the game. They're light hearted and unobtrusive. When you're concentrating on solving those puzzles, you're not likely to even notice it much.Sound effects are what one might expect.Faithfully reproduced pac-dot munching, blips and bleeps from the original Ms Pac-Man, and the occasional rumble of an exploding block.Ms Pac-Man makes a cute "Yeep!" noise when a ghost catches her.

This game includes a few multi-player maze games.I was unable to try them out because I don't have a second GBA (or a second cartridge).

All said and done, this game is pretty good. It's not awe-inspiring, but neither is it bad.It looks good, plays well, and provides a quality gaming experience. The puzzles are diverse and interesting, and the pac-dot munching is fun. There's nothing too stressful here.It could definitely be much more complicated than it is.I'd say that Ms Pac-Man does a fine job in the puzzle department, but she's much better at the old-fashioned, frantically-paced arcade style of pac-dot gobbling and ghost eluding. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars I LIKE!!!!
Only comment I have about the game is saving your scores. That sucks when you reach over 1,000,000 points and you die and you can't save your progress. The graphics are really cute.

5-0 out of 5 stars a twisted mario!
Pinball and mario may sound strange, but it is a very interesting game. basically because it's a unique blend of mario and pinball. This isn't a regular table game, either. Characters and the enviroment create a slick table, like thebeehives become bumpers. the game includes a storyline, themed tables, and of course a cast of characters.

Graphics-the graphics are nice. they are smooth N64 style. the game also boasts no scrolling. The framerate is also very nice, and it has sharp texture.

sound-the music is catchy, and mario style. the sounds have the voices of Mario and everybody else. There are also spund of enemies, plus the star sound. it's catchy as heck!

gameplay-besides it's regular pinball action, you get multiple features. you complete goals to win stars. you can collect coins to buy shop items. there are bosses, including boo, and Petey Pirahnah. it's an interesting twist on classic pinball.

replay-It wont last you long as much as Mario, but the unique theme and it's flavor, will make you come back for more.

Overall-, the perfect twist on pinball.

2-0 out of 5 stars fun is short-lived
Mario shows up once again, this time in his own pinball game.I'm sure this one will sell a ton of copies. Truth be told, Mario Pinball Land is like some cheap bubble gum that loses flavor after a couple of minutes.

Sure, the graphics are detailed and colorful, and all the gang of characters is here. The pinball action is simple yet works pretty well.So what is the problem?Very repetitive. The screens vary with different locales (pyramids, caves, deserts, etc) but the action never changes.I found myself getting bored with it early on.This one is for the kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Game
This game is not a good game at all.First of all there is a horilble storyline. The ball is hard to manuver and fall out quickly. And finally when you turn it off it automatically deletes the file.I know its in the instrution book but it happens on inctinct.Trust me I am a game lover and this is just disappionting.I like mario games and I love pinball but this game is baadd.Trust me buy something good. I would buyKingdom Hearts: Chain Memories.

4-0 out of 5 stars Off the wall? You bet!
To really enjoy this game, you have to think of it not as a pinball game with Mario flavor, rather as a Mario game with pinball flavor. /Mario Pinball Land/ will probably not satisfy hard core pinball lovers, but that doesn't mean it's not a good game.

First off, this game is drop-dead gorgeous. These are some of the best graphics I've seen on the GBA, and everything has that great Mario polish on it. The same can be said for the sounds, most of which come directly from Super Mario 64. The only cosmetic downside to Mario Pinball Land is the music. The tunes are good, but they are not Mario-y at all, and are pretty generic. It is unfortunate that the music lacks that signature Mario game feel.

Now on to the gameplay. As I said earlier, this is not your typical pinball game. It's basically a Mario game played in a pinball style. You progress through the different themed worlds (snow, desert, underwater, etc.) to defeat enemies, collect coins and power-ups, and get stars. Like Mario 64, you collect stars to get access to other areas to play, and eventually you will collect enough stars and star keys so you can go up against Bowser and rescue the princess.

The adventure mode of Mario Pinball Land is fairly short, by Mario game standards. It took only took me an hour or two of playing to get to Bowser's castle after buying the game. However, there are a lot of different levels and mini-games you can unlock, and there is a time trial mode to see how quickly you can beat a given stage.

And so we come to the drawbacks of the game. The biggest is the control - it can be very hard to get the ball where you want it to go, and it can be extremely frustrating to misjudge a shot and have Mario fall out of the stage (and thus reset it so you have to start all over again to get the level's star). It doesn't take too long to get the hang of the controls, but there are some shots that are just nigh impossible even with a lot of practice. This can make Mario Pinball Land a real chore at certain points.

Mario Pinball Land is a lot of fun, and you have to give Nintendo credit for trying something so off the wall and succeeding admirably. I would have given it 5 stars if there had been more modes aside from adventure (perhaps some traditional style pinball tables to unlock and play) and tighter physics/controls. Ultimately, this game will not satisfy pinball fanatics, but it definitely belongs in the collection of any Mario fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragon Tales are great for Kids.
I never thought I'd be excited that a kids game is coming out, but I'm glad some developers are making games for small children, and this looks to one of the better game choices for the under 5 crowd.

Dragon Tales teaches kids tolarence and acceptance of others while giving focus to individuality. It's good stuff.

The game play will be limited to simple tasks and expect some voice work from the show.

If you have a kid under 7, this may be for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Game Of Great Value
WoW! THERE IS VERY FEW BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS GAME! This game kinda reminds me of nba street! The only differences are the fact that you can not create players there are not as many characters and modes but then again NBA Street is for gamecube so this game is realy graet for a Gameboyadvance. Some of the good quialitys about this game is the fact that u have tournaments and u can win prizes when u win. I think this game as farly good graphics but as for game play it takes a little while to get used to the biotton confrontige but once u get used to it its gret. They've even put in trick points, tricks and trick combos and trick-dunk combo points. The game resimbles NBA Street except for a few miner details. One mager flaw is there is no create player, wich i love to do, butI'm willing to give it up for this game is great.Overall this game is an incredible game. You might be able to win carecters but im not sure because i have only beatin two tournaments buy i have played practice and thats how i know its so great. You should defintly buy this game.

Amazon.com Review

In Star Wars Episode II: The New Droid Army the Clone Wars are raging, and the Jedi Council has gotten word that a dangerous new battle droid has been seen on Tatooine. The Council has sent young Jedi Anakin Skywalker to investigate.

This game has two important things going for it: the graphics--with 3-D polygons, smooth animation, and vibrant colors--are top-notch, and the sound effects, including snippets of music from the movies, are impressive for the GBA’s tiny speaker. Hearing the hum of the lightsaber, the twang of laser shots, and--perhaps most impressive--the creepy guffaws of the Tusken Raiders brought a tear to my eye.

But while the sights and sounds of The New Droid Army are impressive, the gameplay is a mixed bag. As young Anakin, you run around, slicing up stuff with your lightsaber. And then you slice some more, and then a bit more. You do have certain Force powers that add to gameplay (moving quickly, jumping really high, becoming invisible, healing wounds, etc.), but not enough to completely relieve the tedium. The biggest flaw though is the lack of character interaction. While you will often need to talk with people to gather information, not all people can talk, so most characters are merely window-dressing. Worse, there is no battery save option in the game. This is a good-looking game that falls well short of classic status. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • Great graphics and sound
  • Fun cutscenes
  • Useful Force powers

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok, I guess...
This game is fun for a day or two, but then it gets old after a while. There are no healh pack thingys and why the heck do you have to remember passwords? Why can't you just save the game? Plus, there is no change in scenerey. Everywhere you go it's just the same as everywhere else you have gone. And why is so hard to kill one simple battle droid. Dang, Anakin can't fight worth a flip on this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Game
It was an exciting game, a little easy, but, it has great replay value.I've beat it three times, and it's awesome each time. This was always a great game.A little difficult the first try, but it's got great replay value.I always thought of it as a good Game Boy game, as it was my first and only GBA game.I stick to GameCube, now.Harder, funner.Well, adiós.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Game is Way to Easy
This game is extremely easy and wasn't entertaing. I am a teenage girl and i'm not a huge starwars fan but I do like some of the movies. All you do is lightsaber ur way through levels and it doesn't get any harder as you progress. My brother purchased this game he's 8 but he loved it. Maybe I shouldn't have expected much from this game?

I bought this game for my 4 year old for christmas and he loved it and with a little (and I mean little) he beat all 8 levels and the game the other day.We played it through the game player on our gamecube so it was easier to see.Great game Billy Blazes never dies, not violent.good choice for young ones

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for 5 and 6 year olds
What a great game boy advance game!We searched high and low for something my 5 year old could play on his game boy that wouldn't frustrate him...this game fits the bill perfectly! He is a rescue hero fan, which makes this game even more fun! It's challenging enough to interest him, his 6 year old brother and even me, his mom, yet it's simple enough that he can get through the levels and feel a sense of accomplishment.I would highly recommend this game for the younger set of game boy players! It's really fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of top 3 rated games in Nintendo Power when released
Look...if you're too old to care who the rescue heroes are, don't bother. But if your kid is in that age range, this is just a good game.

When it came out, it was one of the top rated games in Nintendo Power...GameBoy Advance or otherwise. The developer also did Sabrina, and the publisher was Knowledge Adventure division of Vivendi, and they know kids.

It's challenging for the older kids, but the easy level will let the player be Billy Blazes and put out fires without much worry about dying, and that's going to be fun.

I doubt anyone is ever going to spend as much money as they probably did on a Rescue Heroes game again, so get it before it leaves the shelf.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN!!
We got my 5 yr old son this game for Christmas and he absolutely loves it!!!He would have played the game 24 hrs a day if we allowed him to.He has completed the game entirely since Christmas but still loves to play the game again and again. He is a HUGE Rescue Hero fan and has been for a couple years and I don't think he'll ever tire of playing this game. ... Amazon.com Review

Larger in scope than itspredecessor and better in almostevery way, Breath of Fire II is a perfect port of the original SNES game, and will leave role-playing fans begging for more.

The game starts out, dreamlike, in a small border village 500 years after theevents of the first game. You play a small boy named Ryu (ring a bell?) who islooking for his lost sister. After finding his sister and reuniting her withpops, Ryu wanders around a bit and returns home--and that's when things reallystart to get interesting. To go further than that would risk spoiling the story, but we can say that the plot is really topnotch this time around and has threealternate endings.

Graphically, the game is a huge jump from the original. The towns are larger, the character sprites are more detailed, and the field map is gorgeous. You seeweather effects such as rain and drifting clouds, wandering animals and jumpingfish, and plants blowing in the breeze. If you have any experience with the best16-bit RPGs for the SNES, like Final Fantasy VI orChrono Trigger, you getthe idea.

The characters are completely new in the series, and have brand-new skills. Theonly exception is Ryu (who isn't the original Ryu, but basically has the sameskills). Like the original Breath of Fire, certain areas of the game areonly accessible by using the skills of your party members. For example, one ofyour members can turn into a frog, and can ferry you across rivers and streams.

Among the changes to Breath of Fire II is that fishing and hunting havebigger roles; they're now minigames that require technique and reward with itemsthat can advance the story. An animated monster image shows up on the field menuto give you an idea how often you'll encounter the baddies--nice for avoidingall those random battles. There's also the new Guts stat, which will sometimesallow a character to fight even when he should be knocked out. The two coolestadditions are town creation (where you get to build and populate your own town),and the new fusion system, which allows your characters to "fuse" with shamansthat you encounter, thus joining and augmenting their powers. In a nutshell, this game improves upon the best parts of the original. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • Character fusion
  • Fishing and hunting minigames
  • Town creation
  • Save anywhere
  • Trade items via link cable
  • Improved graphics, sound, and music
Cons:
  • Ryu doesn't actually make contact when he attacks

3-0 out of 5 stars Ahh!Need Water!O_o
Breath of Fire 2 was originally released for the Super Nintendo.Somehow, I managed to miss it when I had that system, so buying it on the GBA seemed like a natural move considering I'd heard a little about it from other gamers who played it, as well as some online reviews.

...This was a poor game to start the system off with (yes, this was my first GBA game)...

I know this was a direct port of the SNES version, so I went into this knowing it would retain SNES quality. For the most part, graphics and sound are average here.Nothing super extravagant, but nothing too bland either (sound is a bit below-average, though).

Gameplay is what killed me throughout playing this.Comparing this to several other RPGs (anything from Dragon Warrior games, to Final Fantasy games and so on).I'm still not able to figure out where this one went wrong. Here are my guesses, though:

- Horribly high amount of random battle encounters (and they even have an icon that tells you how high your probability of lots of encounters are).
- Unbalanced gameplay.Combat is more of a chore in this game compared to any other old school RPG.
- Weak attacks.A huge majority of the characters are practically useless, and what's even worse is the shaman system employed partway through the game, which fixes some of these issues, is dispersed if your characters get too low on HP.Not to mention most of the spell casters good attacks are just magic, and even then Ryu (the main character) still does more damage than them.
- Over-reliance on certain attacks.Even though most RPGs tend to make you favor certain attacks, this one does it to the point of monotony.
- Poor exploration.Somehow, this world just wasn't all that enjoyable to journey across. In fact, somehow even the residents of the world aren't that interesting either.A shame, because it had lots of potential in my eyes because of the interesting diverse races (such as the winged people of Windia, and the dragon clan).

There are only two reasons I don't outright give this game the lowest score ever. For one thing, the story was quite interesting (even though the translation seemed to be mauled a bit). For another, it had a bit of humor in it, but nothing worth writing home about.

So, to sum this up, I cannot recommend this game to anyone.Whether you've been playing RPGs since before they were cool, or never heard of them, it would be best to skip this. There are lots of other much better RPGs on the GBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars best rpg besides fire emblem
so i wanted a new rpg for my game boy and saw all of the reviews for breath of fire II. I instantly was begging to go to the local gaming store. At the begining it was bad you control this stupid midget guy and its in black and white. I thought i bought a bad game but i learned quickly dont get decieved by the begining after you come out of the forest its in color, well 1 problem solved. So you go along and eventually get caught up in a cave where a monster is that knocks you out for 10 years. yay im not a retard anymore. this game is awsome the battle sequences are cool and it is an excellent game.

storyline: 5/5

graphics: 5/5

controls: 5/5

gameplay: 5/5

even though ryu makes a slash in the air when he attacks and not the enemy, get over it other people dont. This is 1 of the best rpgs ever made, some other great rpgs are, final fantasy x, fire emblem, golden sun, harvest moon etc. really dont hesitate to buy. It will be 1 of the best buys youve ever made.

4-0 out of 5 stars Randomness
A four and a half star game.Good graphics, interesting story line, awesome spells. The spells make the game. The only thing that bothers me is getting stuck in stupid and random places.I'm normally pretty good at video games but this one was over my head. The story line was pretty weird to. Who ever heard of killing evil fatty monsters? Messed up.The end bothered me to.I won't spoil it, but it basically says, Oh, you really didn't do what you thought you were going to do.Okay then. But I enjoyed it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps getting better
Arguably the best game in Capcom's RPG series, Breath of Fire II makes a seamless transition from the 16-bit Super NES to the small-screened Game Boy Advance. Although the game got smaller, it's still an engrossing adventure that no RPGer on the go should be without. BOFII is essentially an epic quest of self-discovery. As one of the fleeting kin of a group known as the Dragon Clan (so named for their ability to transform into gigantic fire-breathing things), you'll meet up with eight other diverse souls and embark on a quest to unlock the secrets of your past...and save the world in the process. The road is loaded with entertaining and challenging side quests that keep the game fresh and exciting-even when the narrative takes occasional trips to cliché-ville. Sibling rivalry, lost love, domineering parents-you name it, this game's got it all. The game's only flaw is the ease with which you can defeat bosses and reach the end of the game. Anyone who's ever played a turn-based combat system will immediately take to BOFII's antiquated slug-fests, but most of the time you'll just hit Auto-Battle. Despite an occasional tough opponent, you'll bulldoze over most monsters without breaking so much as a hand sweat. BOFII's plush sprite visuals are matched by an atmospheric music score that admirably gets the job done. Straightforward and simple controls solidly track your every move, too. In the realm of today's high-powered next-gen role-players, BOFII is an excellent time-killer-not to mention one of the better entries in the series.

1-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
I bought this game a few years ago for the SNES after playing BOF1.I was looking for more of that wonderful gameplay in the first classsic game.I was terribly disappointed and I endorse the comments of the other reviewer from Valencia, CA USA.I quote them immediately below.

*******************
"The sequel to one of the best rpg games with the best story line is a total and complete flop. breath of fire 2 does not follow anything even remotly like a story and is not in any way realated to the first game.the game should have had some thing to do with defeating Tyr after she comes back at the end of Breath of Fire 1. the fighting is different and when i tried to select a enemy to fight out of 3 enemies, i ended up shooting myself. what is probably the worst part about fighting is when you meet a new enemy. you can't see how much health they have so it is frustarating not knowing how long until you kill them. the graphics are horrible and are worse than any game i have ever played. the hunting in this game is extremly disipointing and you spend the time waiting for a deer or boar to come out of the grass. if you are looking for a good RPG, play Breath of Fire 1 or Golden Sun"
*********************

Additionally, the storyline (what there is of it) is horrid. It is not even a true sequel, but seems to be an attempt by the company to simply capitalise on the success of the first without too much effort. In short people.Do NOT buy this game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST EVER!!!
I LOVE this game, it is challenging for all ages because you can change the difficulty level. There is always something to find! It is soooo awesome. When I first played it I played until my GBA ran out of battery power!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Different, But Fun!
I got this game as a gift for Christmas, and I couldn't have been more excited. I am a huge fan of the Hamtaro Gameboy games, and this one is no exception! It is very different from the other two, however. Unlike the other games, this is more of an arcade-style game than an RPG, although it still has many aspects of an RPG in the storyline. The main point of this game is to win the Ham Ham Games Tournament by your team having the most gold medals. Once you win the first tournament, you can also collect "hamigo cards" from the other hamsters. Collecting all the cards is actually quite challenging, and adds to the RPG aspect of this game. The graphics are much better, but the areas to explore are not as detailed, nor is there as much to do outside of the main storyline. Unfortunately, for me at least, you still have to play as Hamtaro; you don't get to choose your main character. In this game you don't even get to choose your player's name; everyone calls you Hamtaro no matter what name you gave yourself on your player's card. Also, this game is a bit too repetitive for my tastes, because you don't get to go anywhere new after you win the tournament, or unlock new games. When you play the tournament over again, the teams don't change, or even improve their skills. However, despite these flaws, this is still a fun game. The tournament games are addictive, I'll admit, and there is still enough of a challenging mystery aspect to the game to make it like the others. The new characters and interesting varieties of music (by the way, in this game each place doesn't have its own music, there is a consantly playing "soundtrack" of ever-changing songs that plays no matter where you go)make this game a must-have for any Hamtaro fan! ... You don't have to be MacArthur to recognize that Advance Wars isone of the best strategy war games for any console. The game pits four fictionalcity-states in a battle for territory. Your job as commanding officer is todefeat the enemies in turn-based combat over land, air, and sea. AdvanceWars has a stiff learning curve, but its interactive tutorials can turn thegreenest GI into agreat leader of pixelated men. AW also offers manymultiplayer options, including the ability to play against a friend by passingthe GBA back and forth. To extend the possibilities, you can also create newbattlefields and trade them with others. Despite cutesy visuals, this is a verydeep game that is also accessible. For GBA generals looking to flex theirtactical muscles or anyone looking for a simply great GBA game, look no further.--Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • Clear and informative graphics
  • Ideal interface for the tiny GBA screen
  • Lots of multiplayer and customization options.
Cons:
  • Misleadingly cute box art (this is not a game for tots!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Best turn-based strategy I've ever played
You take on the role of a Commanding Officer (CO) in a cartoony world at perpetual war with itself. Easy to get into, and deceptively deep. Advance Wars is strategy at its best. What makes it so special? First, the graphics are great. The animations are instant gratification when a well-timed attack turns the tide of battle, help you visualize battle results in several ways so you know exactly how your units are doing. Second, the options for multiplayer are excellent. Because the game is turn based, 4 players can play together even on only one system. Grab a friend, and enjoy the anticipation of having the system handed back to you and seeing your opponent smirk as you stumble into their trap (playing on seperate systems can be done, but isn't nearly as fun).

The most important facet of this game is depth. Fog of War (where parts of the map your units can't see are blacked out) makes for intensity- you're always trying to calculate what forest or hilltop might contain enemy units waiting for you. The basics of troop movements give way to incredible strategy (delay the enemy tank by sacrifing your troops, or retreat and lure the tank into range of your artillery?). Each CO is completely unique (Max has stronger tanks, but weaker artillery. Sami has tougher troops, but weaker vehicles) and thier individual powers add an extra level of depth to the process.

Advance Wars is an amazing game for singleplayer action. Add in a full-featured map creator, a ton of unlockable COs, and the wealth of options, and this is one of the best multiplayer games on the GameBoy. A must-have.

5-0 out of 5 stars War Chess
This game is basically chess, with more units, you can move all of your units per turn, and you can create units. It is challenging, but it is very fun.Not to mention its a gameboy game, so you can play it anywhere :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Review To The Other 190 Out Of 229!!!!
Like the REAL people out there said: awesome, thrilling, attractive, exiciting, strategic, "A two thumbs up!", "A never put down until your through!!!", "THE BEST!".

Bum, dum, dum, bum (drum beating for background music). "The best high firepower strategy game yet!!". ADVANCE WARS. Now being bought...SO BUY IT!!!!!

PS: And what boy would not think Sami is sexy?!?

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Turn Based Strategy Game
Advanced Wars is everything you could ask for in a strategy game. If you're like me and you love turn based strategy then look no further, Advance Wars is definately up to par with the host of other tactical RPGs for GBA. While it's not an rpg by any means i can't see anyone who likes Final Fantasy Tactics not falling in love with this game. I love turn based strategy and Advance Wars is definately pretty high up on the list of must owns for the genre.

The lack of an RPG element (which has pretty much taken over turn based strategy games in recent years) is somewhat of a blessing. Don't get me wrong i enjoy building up characters but it's definatly a nice change of pace to be able to just jump in and start playing without worrying about much else.

It's also worth mentioning that Advance Wars is fairly difficult. The extensive tutorial while somewhat annoying in its length is probably necessary for the vast majority of gamers. There are quite a few battles where one mistake will easily put you out of commission.

Advance Wars definely deserves 5 Stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Frickin' Addicting!
Man ... I just got totally sucked into this game. It's a lot of fun.Not an action game at all ... you have to use your head.I think if you liked Pikmin for the GC, you'll like this game. And, I'll go the other way on this one then too ... if you like this game ... make sure you get Pikmin on the GameCube. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What is this all about?
I bought this game thinking that it would be like Defenders. I was horribly wrong. It is very hard to lock onto a target. I don't think that this game is racist, it is just hard.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Combat Flight Sim
Expanding on their successful F-14 combat simulator, Majesco moves you into the seat of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. If you have played F-14, than you will be at home with this 2nd offering. This is not an arcade style action game, it is a basic combat flight simulator similar in concept to what you would find at a Naval Air Station to train combat pilots. Flying from a carrier in the NAG and land bases near Iraq, you are a tasked with enforcing UN Resolutions to drive Saddam from power. While the storyline is now somewhat dated, and in hindsight historically inaccurate...the game play itself is a good way to fill a few empty minutes. I keep a copy of this, and F-14 in my flight bag to fill occasional downtime.

5-0 out of 5 stars You people..
Aight. Look if this is duelist kingdom then its going to be summon whatever without a sacrafice. SETO KAIBA MADE UP THE SACRAFISE FOR BATTLE CITY!!
Every episode is perfect

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
The best three words to describe this show are, Dumb, Stupid, and Horrible. The show teaches kids to duel the wrong way.The show has no rules, you can summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon in face up defense position without two sacrifices.Pegasus duels with toon monsters, which are basically useless in tournaments. All in all, please don't waste your money on something like this.Buy the new Structure decks Dragon's Roar or Zombie Madness. You'll get some good cards (and a rule book).

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Awesome!!!
I just got this a couple days ago and I have to say that I'm so thankful that there are Yu-Gi-Oh episodes that I can watch wherever!!!!!I think that there should be all four parts of the duel on the cartridge, since it starts on part 3 which is right in the middle of the duel.I don't have a GBA SP, so I couldn't tell you if the picture quality was better on there.I just have a regular GBA, and the picture is kind of blurry and you have to have enough light to see the entire picture correctly. But other than that, It's a great product and I can't wait for volume 2!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best ways to watch episodes
i think it is cool how you can watch these on the G.B.A but why didn't they put in part 1 and part 2 instead then if they make a volume 2 they could of put part 3 and part 4 in that one but i think it's great and i give it 5 stars

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool
I just got this Game Boy Video, and I love it! The episodes are about Yugi & Joey dueling over an ocean pier. But Joey isn't himself, no. He is Marik's mind slave! What makes this duel interesting is that so many things are at stake. For example, a timer is hanging over Yugi & Joey's head. Yugi & Joey are hooked up to chains with an anchor attached to them. Once the timer goes out, both Duelists will be dragged into the ocean. If Yugi wins, Joey will drown and Yugi's best friend will be lost in the Shadow Realm. If Joey wins, Yugi will drown and lose his Egyptian God Card plus the Millenium Puzzle & Yami's Spirit. THe most interesting part in the episodes are the monsters and the ending. I was literally on the edge of my seat while watching these episodes! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because they began the episodes right in the middle of the duel and no promo cards were inserted with it. >.< Overall, if your a Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan you should defanitely pick this up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars fun and frusterating
this game is great! the graphics are crisp, and sound is just right! the music is good for most part, but can get a little to dreary for me. this game can get frusterating though, and the bosses are to hard! this game might get to challenging for a beginning player, but for guys who are a die hard megaman fan like me should get it. anyway, cool game :-) ...
