If you're still suffering the lingering effects of Pac-Man fever, you'llbe excited to hear that Namco's Pac-Man Collection repackages theinfectious original with three other Pac-Man-themed games in a new anthology forthe Game Boy Advance.

Pac-Man Collection contains the original Pac-Man, plusPac-Attack, PacMania 3D, and the never-before-seen-out-of-the-arcadePac-Man Arrangement game. Pac-Man plays like you remember, andlike Namco Museums's picture perfect re-creation of Ms. Pac-Man,it features spot-on control, graphics, cartoon cutscenes, sound effects, and, best of all, music from the coin-op (who can forget that opening theme?). Assuch, it's easily the best of this collection.

PacMania 3D is basically a 3-D version of the original, and is just aboutas uninspired now as when it came out. Pac-Attack is a cool variation onsuch puzzlers as Tetris and Columns, and as such it's perfect forhandheld gaming. Pac-Man Arrangement is an odd little game that playsmuch like the original but adds weird power-ups that, for example, make yougigantic.

Because Pac-Man Collection is a perfectly emulated package, there isn'tmuch to gripe about, save that Ms. Pac-Man is a far, far better game thanthe original, and you'll have to shell out more money if you want that one. Butfor retro gamers on the go who also want to track down ghosts and eat powerpills, this package is sure to sate your hunger. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Perfect graphics and sound
  • Perfect controls
  • Pac-Attack is a fun Tetris variant
Cons:
  • It's missing the best Pac game, Ms. Pac-Man
  • Pac-Man Arrangement and PacMania 3D aren't really great games

5-0 out of 5 stars Great collection!
It's a nice collection of Pac-Man, Pac-Man Arrangement, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Attack. I'm STILL trying to beat the original! Pac-Attack, 100 stages, gotten through about 30. I already beat Pac-Man Arrangement and Pac-Mania. The easiest was Pac-Man Arrangement, then Pac-Mania(could've been easiest if it wasn't for that 3rd level!!! Levels 1, 2, and 4 are easy though), then Pac-Man, then Pac-Attack.

If you don't have a GBA or DS, GameCube and Xbox has Namco Museum. Pac-Man and Pac-Man Arrangement are there. Pac-Attack is unlockable by getting 25000 points on Pac-Man. Pac-Mania, 20000 points on Ms. Pac-Man. Remember to save it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pac Man Fever
I grew up in the 80s playing Atari and arcade games. So when I purchased my new Gameboy Advance SP, I immediately wanted to buy Pac-Man.I definitely was not disappointed. The cartridge contains 4 different games. The basic Pac-Man game is a good replica of the arcade version, replete with Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. It can be played in full-screen or scroll version. The full-screen version is a bit small, but I find the scroll version difficult to play as you cannot see what the characters are doing on other parts of the board.

PacMania 3D and Pac-Man Arrangement are variations on the classic Pac-Man.Pac-Man Arrangement is my least favorite of the 4 games.Although the board is colorful, the floating dots add nothing.I also find it somewhat confusing, and it's difficult to control.PacMania 3D is enjoyable and includes several 3D worlds. You can make your Pac-man jump, and the ghosts have great menacing glares.

However, Pac-Attack is definitely my favorite game here - a brilliant variation on Tetris.Like Tetris, the falling blocks must be arranged. Some of the blocks contain ghosts and some contain a Pac-Man, and the goal is to arrange the ghosts so that you can eat them. It's pretty addicting.Overall, I'm really enjoying this collection. Most highly recommended.

I love this game. After I get home from shool I play this game

5-0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azakaban GBA Game
Very good game, excellent quality. The game sticks to the book more than the movie does! Easiest to play when you start at the begining and work your way up to beat the game. I got the game a few days ago and already I'm on the part where you have to go back to Hogwarts when you come back from the Shrieking Shack. Some parts are tricky though and take a couple of tries to accomplish (i.g. Whomping Willow, Crabbe + Goyle, mazes, etc.).
The game is fun to play and can sometimes be addictive!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Why did you bloody cut out brooms?
I realy love Harry Potter.I think It's safe to say I'm obssesed. So naturally, I bought HP3 on Gamecube and on GBA.I loved them both quite alot, but I always loved QUIDDITCH.I played the game and you don't even see a broom in the Gamecube version, and you see one broom in GBA and you NEVER ride it.It's all Buckbeak. Not that it's not an absolutly wicked idea, I do love to ride Beaky, but I was realy looking forward to Quidditch 3rd year. The GBA version was definatly fun, and I advise you to buy it, but before you do, If you have a Gamecube, PS2, or XBox systom, play it on there first THEN if you like that version buy a portable version (GBA or GBA SP)of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Signed,
Haley (Harry's Girl 4 ever)

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Pissy Tips
When you are ending and you are done defeating Malfoy. I suggest you to chose Herminone to get to Sirius. Herminone Is more easy to go through. Belive me, for I have played this game like 6 times already and Harry and Herminone are on level 52 already. It is great!

3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Game....But Way Too Short
I recently ordered this game, and it just came yesterday afternoon. I have already finished it. Need I say more? The game leaves out many important plot line, never do you fly a broom or play Quiddich, never is the Marauder's Map mentioned, and never do you get to vist Hogesmade. Starting to get my drift? I only rated this game as highly as I did because the graphics are pretty good (for a GBA), and it was pretty fun while it lasted. I am not bragging when I say it took me about 5 hours to beat. I am a gamer who explores the whole game, not just following the plot line. If you haven't read the book or seen the movie, there is no way you will understand what is happening. There are really no puzzles to solve either, everything you have to do is extremely straight forward. Another thing I didn't like about the game was that events that could have been made fun and challenging were not. Let's take the example of the dementors. In the game, they turn this into an incredibly stupid mini-game that has no point whatsoever. This is also the case with flying Buckbeak and defeating the boggart. The replay value is also next to zip because you keep your level when you restart making you too powerful for the game to have any meaning. In conclusion, if you have a lot of money to spend, by all means get the game. If you don't and you are looking for a game that will last you a long time, this is definitly not your game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I'm addicted!!!
I had a GBA for christmas and also had this game and the incredibles. When I tried it at first I was immediateley hooked. This is by far one of the greatest games I have ever played. It has got excellent detail and graphics. you can play as four characters( Shrek, donkey, puss in boots and the gingerbread man).Puss in boots is my favourite.I am going to give you a spot of advice" if you are looking for a game, buy this one,I reccomend it".Some levels are hard and some are not.You just want to know what happens next.THIS GAME IS AUESOME, BUY IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied number 1 for my favorite GBA Game
This game totally rocks! The graphics and sound are great and it is just perfectly put together. There are a lot of levels and the game lasts a long time. The three main charecters are shrek, donkey, and puss in boots. My favorite is puss in boots because he can slide and climb. Its not really an easy game, the levels are challenging enough to be fun, but they are not impossible. The game also explains the story line just in case you havent seen the movie.this game is #1 on my list (tied with mario kart super circuit)and is very good for everyone. This game is appropriate for boys and girls of all ages and is definately worth the money.(its also great for long car trips)

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughters are hooked on this game - HELP!
I had to write a review for this game.We have many games for for various formats, but they have been addicted to this game for almost three months. My daughters are 8 and 11, and we take a lot of long, boring car trips.I had to buy a second game to keep them from fighting over who gets to play it.
There aren't many gameboy games that my daughters like to play. They are not into fashion or destruction.Games don't have to be boy or girl products. They should be fun, creative, humorous, colorful, and challenging. The Mario games are good examples. This game hits the mark perfectly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game for all ages
This game is good for the entire family from ages. I love the game and its my 4 year old favorite movie and game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shrek 2 GBA
The GBA game Shrek 2 was a christmas present for my sister who absolutely adores the Shrek movies and everything associated with it. She completed the game finding it moderately hard and then got me playing it. I must admit this game is really fun but only occasionly is it so hard that you turn off the gameboy in frustration (only to turn it on again 3 seconds later because it's so fun and addictive). This game will entertain you and although i have not completed it yet my sister had completed it 3 or 4 more times.
It is a great game and will keep you entertained although it lost a star in fun rating becuase of it's occaisional difficulty.
I would reccomend this game to you if you are considering buying it and think you might like it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars as kiddy as it gets, but there's quite a bit to it
I have played many of Nintendo's franchise games, and I have never seen a game so completely presented for kids as this game.I'm not a kid, but if I remember right, even a kid doesn't need a little twinkly star telling them 'This game's absolutely packed with fun.'For the first half hour the game just presents you with super-colorful image after sickening colorful image as you prepare your 'passport', a prerequisite to playing the game.

But after that, and after you get over the presentation so kiddy that it will make young kids sick, this is a nice game.Don't expect a party like earlier Mario Party games; this game is almost all for one player.Basically, its main mode has you driving around town running simple errands with limited gasoline, and to keep your car gassed up you have to win frequent mini-games.And most of the mini-games are pretty fun, especially if you learn them and try to set new records in the 'free play' mode.

You will meet many characters from past Mario games as you play.I know this is kiddy too but this I don't mind; I'm a Mario fan.I especially liked meeting the big round slime that was a boss in Yoshi's Island; the characters will bring back memories for a Mario fan as you explore town.

This game is enjoyable; not that enjoyable but enough to keep you coming back. That is if the childish presentation doesn't make you vomit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a party.Just a long quest.
This game is not exactly a party game. All you do is drive on a mushroom car around shroom city. You do like 50 quests and earn gadgets. The only characters playable is Mario(of course),Luigi,Peach, and Yoshi. But it is still a cool game.It even includes a Party Board for Multiplayers with only four characters playable. It's just an addition if you want to party, with four people. And you use your gameboy in a cool, yet weird way.And yes i almost forgot to tell you that it does have mini-games,and micro-games.Just buy it and you might like it.Just dont expect you can unlock new characters. And you get to put your information, and secrets. So if you and a friendbattle in mini-games and beated you,he might get a chance to view your passport and secret! And yes there is a multi game(4-players)and it is a penguin race, which you dont control it, you just guess which one you think would win the race.....Very surprising!Yet there are a lot of missions and some are hard so it might get you busy if you want to complete the game.Enjoy getting those missing mini-games!

3-0 out of 5 stars okay but not what I expected
I really expected more from Mario Prty Advancce. The console games were so much fun as you went around the board to get the star. In this one, there is NO star but you have to fill quests. The mini-games aren't nearly as good (I LOVED dungeon duos and order up from mario party 4) but still okay. -overall okay

5-0 out of 5 stars good toy
I was hoping they would come out with a Marioarty Advance for gameboy advance and they did. This is a cool toy.YOU NEED TO BUY THIS COOL TOY!!!!!!!!!I MEAN IT..........

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
All in all, this is a good game. You might play the games differently than the computer does, and you cant change it.You can play many different games though, and it will teach you the ones that you dont know. This isnt not one of those games that will entertain you for hours, but it is definatley fun.If your not that crazy about card games, do not buy this game. But if you are, BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely addictive and fun, but solitaire will tire you out
I've noticed that a lot of the reviews are really harping on a specific game having a bug that ruins the experience for them. If you look at the group on a whole, though, this is the best bargain in Gameboy games that I have seen yet.

The casino games are a lot of fun. Poker and Blackjack are well done, albeit slow (the computer really takes its time dealing cards). Video poker is a bit too simplistic to play for any amount of time, but your kids or slightly retarded uncle might enjoy it.

The Classic card games are extremely well done. I haven't played euchre in ages, but I got sucked back in almost immediately. Gin Rummy is slightly different than the version I played as a kid, but it's as viable a version as mine, so it doesn't bother me. Crazy Eights is a hoot, and learning to play cribbage and bridge by myself with a cold beer and Radiohead playing is a lot easier than having to listen to my grandmother or mom harp at me about how I played the last hand all wrong.

The solitaire games, while technically fine, are rendered almost useless by the controller. Moving each card one-by-one with the controller reminds me how much easier it is to play the solitaire games on my computer with a mouse. By the end of one game of Freecell, my hand was cramped so bad I had to go get another couple of cold beers and listen to side 1 of Dark Side of the Moon before my hand was functioning again. Fun, competent solitaire games, but I'll bet you develop Popeye forearms after a couple of weeks.

The cartridge is definitely worth it just for the Classic and Casino games, though. Perfect games for sitting in the airport or riding in the passenger seat - most of these can be played in 5 to 10 minutes, which is a plus for me. Even when they go longer than that, every game has a good save feature. You can make an identity for yourself, complete with customized face. Pretty funny and cool. This thing never seems to come out of the GBA. My wife is just as hooked as I am, too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Glitch in Klondike
After going through the deck three times, the program freezes up, making it impossible to win. Rather than admitting a programming error, telegames replied "that's how this version is in some countries." What they should do is fix all the bugs in the program and issue a recall to replace the older version if sent to their mailing address.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nicely done graphics
Yes, some of my favorites are missing from this game, but there are so many versions of card games, there was no way the creators could please everyone.
The graphics are surprisingly good, with choices of background, card backs, and a face creator. Face creator is a bit more limited than the one included in "Ultimate Brain Games" but will suffice. I didn't buy this game to create faces... I play card games with it!
The link feature is nice and the whole family can link up and play.
Overall, it was a good buy and an improvement to be able to finally play card in color on the Gameboy as opposed to my old B&W game.

4-0 out of 5 stars All in all, a pretty good collection of card games
It has plenty of card games to play.I purchased this mainly to play spades on the go.I wish it were more like Yahoo spades with more options in the menu so I could play double nil passing and suicide. Also, I would like characters with different difficulty levels, because I have only lost 1 game so far.I play on a regular Gameboy Advance, and I have found that if I create too many faces (3) and save too many games and settings, the game will freeze up.This can be corrected by going to the options menu and erasing your saved stuff. And I agree, there really isnt enough female faces. They all look like men.I didn't dare make one for my wife either! But, nonetheless, I love this game, as does my wife (gin rummy).I can't get the gameboy away from her!Hearts, Poker, Blackjack, Crazy Eights, and Go Fish are excellent. I would give this game an A, 4 stars because there is room for improvement. But it is my favorite gameboy game so far.Enjoy! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars To the last reviewer
Haven't you read at the top? It says "Classic NES SERIS"! Please think before writing.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is just wierd?
Okay so since I heard from other reviews on this game saying that this one is missing a level here is something you may have not heard. In DK64 you can actually play the Arcade Version of the whole Game on the N64! Plus even when you play the NES Version what does it mean with 1+2 Player A or B? Nintendo Should've just added the Pie Level for the NES Version. I mean what the **** is Nintendo Thinking?

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want to play NES games, use an NES.
This game is not bad. The E-reader version was much more affordable, though.
20 dollars? For 3 one-screen levels? I didn't think so.
If you still want this game, get the old black-and-white game Donkey Kong for the original Game Boy. It has all the levels from this, plus about 100 more. Fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars DK64 has the entire game with the pie level
Why should you go out and use your money on this when the Donkey Kong 64 video game already has the arcade version? The Pie Factory level isn't in the game, but you can play it whenever you want (Without using 25 cents to play it on an arcade) with the missing level if you get DK64.

The only cost is to make it to the Frantic Factory level and unlock Donkey's Gorilla Grab. Then you can play it with all four levels for free!

Both games cost about the same, but DK64 gives you the whole game with a gigantic Banjo-Kazooie-like adventure for the same cost. Plus, beating Donkey Kong in DK64 unlocks a very important item in the game (Nintendo Coin).

I don't know why Nintendo even made this game, but it would've made more sense to just use Donkey Kong Jr. instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Short
This is a good game, but it only has 3 levels that are easy. There are very few enemies, and mario is very slow and can't jump high. I wouldn't recommend you waste your money on this, because it gets boring really fast. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars don't get it
now don't get me wrong, i love this game, it's just that i can't seem to get past the 2nd level. when i'm in the desert, fighting the sand people, and when the music swells, and the screen smalls up, I once sat through that for 20 minutes trying to get past the enormous horde of sand people, but no luck, eventually my health ran out and i went back to the last door. ditto. someone please tell me how long you have to go through that particularly long one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Are we there yet?!
This game should serve as an example of how not to make a platforming adventure game.It manages to get almost everything wrong.

The story is the Star Wars trilogy, and it's told from Luke Skywalker's point of view.Your character throughout the game is Luke, and he has to blast and swordfight his way from the beginning of Episode IV to the end of Episode VI.

Let's start off with the only bit of good news here.Visually, this game is appealing. The backgrounds and characters all look great.Character animations are exceptionally good.Luke runs and jumps around fluently. His moves with the light saber are well animated.Storm troopers, jawas, and other characters all look great. No complaints in the visual department.

Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends. The sound here leaves a bit to be desired. At the beginning of each episode, we see a text scroll accompanied by the Star Wars music, just like in the movies. The music here could've been better."Star Wars: Flight Of The Falcon" did a much better job with this music.During the game, we hear a variety of themes from the movies. They're all decent reproductions at best. The sound effects here are better.Laser blasts all sound pretty much like they're supposed to, as does the light saber.R2D2 accompanies Luke through some of the levels, and the little droid makes faithfully reproduced beeping noises when he accesses a terminal or wall socket (which he does frequently). He also makes that whining sound when he gets hit by a laser blast. So our sound department is a mixed bag.Effects are good.Music could've been better.

All of this would be acceptable if not for the game-play, which does a great job of bringing this game down. The problems here are so numerous, I'm not sure where to begin. For starters, this game does way too much talking. As mentioned, the story is told from Luke's point of view, and we are subjected to him telling the entire story...in detail.Along with static scenes from the movies, he'll tell us what's currently going on at any given point during the game. This is all pretty redundant and annoying to have to skip through at a couple lines of text at a time.

This game is mostly a side-scrolling platformer.Throughout Episode IV, Luke runs and jumps around with his blaster, shooting tusken raiders and storm troopers. At the beginning of Episode V, he gets his light saber.I know it sounds promising and engaging, but this is some very mediocre gaming (if not worse). The level designs are very pedestrian, and there are many levels here to traverse.

To make matters worse, there are frequent freeze-frame encounters, during which hordes of storm troopers must be eliminated before you can progress. When you reach a certain point, the screen is surrounded by black borders, and storm troopers will come on-screen from the left and right. You have to kill them all before you can advance. This happens so often, it becomes extremely monotonous.I lost interest before Luke arrived on the Death Star.First he had to go through several levels of tusken raiders, then several more levels of Mos Eisely.By the time he arrived at the Death Star, it was already becoming tiresome.I kept entering a doorway and finding myself in yet another level full of storm troopers, and I was thinking "Aren't we there yet?"It doesn't get better. It just keeps getting worse.Level after level of probe droids and snow troopers.Level after level of storm troopers at Bespin. And so on.

The controls are also part of the problem. To aim up or down with the blaster, you have to hold the R button while standing or crouching, respectively. This aims the blaster diagonally, and there's no way to aim straight up or down. This is incredibly awkward, and there are numerous times where Luke has to shoot storm troopers who are above or below him.The light saber doesn't get much better. There are a variety of light saber moves that Luke can do, but none of them are much of a match for a good blaster at your side. With the light saber, you're walking up to opponents who are shooting you.Add to that the need to jump over prevalent chasms in order to reach the opponents, and you're better off just bringing out the gun.

For the assault on the Death Star, Luke pilots his X-Wing fighter in an overhead view reminiscent of Sinistar. It's pretty silly. The X-Wing and tie fighters bounce off of each other, just like the ships in Sinistar. The trench run is also presented in a silly overhead view. The only thing I liked about this sequence was that Darth Vader and his two escorts show up at the end, and Luke has to dodge their fire until the Millennium Falcon comes on the scene. But the space combat that precedes this little treat is about as awful as the rest of the game.

A built-in save feature automatically saves your progress, and Luke has unlimited lives. If you get killed, you'll restart at the beginning of the current level. This game is begging to be played all the way through, but is it worth the effort?I quit after the first confrontation with Vader.Even if the final third of the game is awesome, it wasn't worth playing through the other two thirds to see it.I have a feeling that the final third is just as dismal as the rest of the game. The designers tend to use the same motifs over and over throughout the game.

To sum up, this game is incredibly awful.Great visuals, good effects, decent music (I've heard better), some awkward controls, and terrible game-play.I don't care how good everything looks. This game isn't fun.A good-looking game that isn't fun is going to look good on the shelf, collecting dust.

3-0 out of 5 stars r make doubly sure your kid will like this game/keep reciept
My son bought this game two days after his birthday with his birthday money. Decided it didn't like after playing it for two days. BUT he lost his receipt so of course ToysRus would not refund his money. This took place at a local ToysRus store. I thought by scanning the bar code on the box that the store could tell that it came/purchased from this particular store. The manager said the barcode is universal..blah, blah. I highly questioned that. The sales lady kept blabbing that it was their policy not to refund money for a video game that has been opened with no receipt. I said there is also a policy about customer satisfaction also!! But to no avail. So we ended up taking the game to E B games for resale. Course my son lost out on some of his money. I have spent quite a bit of money at ToysRus locally and online. However, now I will certainly think TWICE before giving them anymore business.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Metroid game.
While this is pretty much a remake of the original Metroid tale, it is still highly recommened to al GBA owners.

The music and mission of this game holds true to the original and will make you remember the classic like it was 1987 all over again... if youre old enough to remember.

Plus the added bonuses, like including the original Metroid game in its entirety, and including bonus galleries and a 15% challenge puts this Metroid game a cut above just about any other game out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent game
Fifa 2005 for the other systems is great so I figured I would buy it for Gameboy Advance. When I received it I was impressed by the graphics supported by the hand-held system. I was also wondering how great the controlling would be with only 4 buttons. Well, it turned out that it is very easy to control the players in this game. The career mode lets you sign a 5 season contract and is very fun. This game is very entertaining and has a lot of replay value. 3-0 out of 5 stars It's a game with a twist
You can say it's a game that is Tetris, Boggle and Dr. Mario mixed together to make words as quickly as possible.

2-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT Scrabble.
I bought this game with the understanding that the word "Srabble" coincided with that family game where you create words from random tiles. This game only allowes itself to be called Scrabble because it uses a gameboard and point system similar to a Scrabble board. Understand me when I say THIS IS NOT SCRABBLE.If you are looking for a Scrabble handheld, look elsewhere. This game is essentially fancied-up Boggle, where you have a Scrabble board filled with tiles and you attempt to make words by connecting tiles together. As the other reviewer said, I also would rather play Bookworm for the Advance.

You cannot save your game, and the cartridge keeps no high scores.Animation is cheap, as is the music and graphics. Avoid!

Well, im a casulal gamer and you might not want to listen to me but if you do theres a couple things i have to say.First off the game is great, but not educational. you can go to all sorts of lands and find the "krem coins" and feathers and such, i do think they should charge less money for theese "gameboy" games, but i have grat fun overall.

happy gaming, Ziggy

5-0 out of 5 stars A good direction for Sonic!
(How long have a played this game, I think the record place said 96 hours or something like that!) I was suprised to hear that Sonic was getting a fighter for the Gameboy Advance, quite different from the "run to the goal" Advance series. Personaly, I like fighting games (not the bloody ones, but you know, the Super Smash Bros. types), and had very high expectations for this game. It satisified them with high action fighting and a challening story mode. In this game you can play as a variety of characters from the Sonic universe: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, Amy, Cream, and the unlockabel E-102, and Chaos. You can also play as Emerl. One thing I like about this game is that there seems to be no "Strongest" character (excuding a super experianced Emerl), it all depends on fighing style (Tails and Cream work best for me). The fact you can actuall heal is cool too, as is the fact you can customize your special attacks. In Story Mode, you have to follow the story line and battle set characters, in battle, you earn cards whihc represent different attacks from the characters you fought, and skill points. If you press R to go to the customize screen you can teach Emerl these attackes if you have enough skill points. There are even altra rare ultimate attackes! When you first boot up Sonic Battle, you can only play "Sonic's story" in Story Mode, once you beat it however, you earn Tails "episode", then Rouge's episode, ect. Every character has an episode except E-102 and Chaos. Battle Mode is my fav. Play a battle on any stage, with any characters, with many customizable rules. Challenge mode is where you battle five set rounds to earn the most piont possible. Minigames are also included, though only one is single player. My only complaint is that you can't do the "virtuall training" you encounter in Emerl's episode with anyone but him. The reason I gave duribility (can you even see that rating, it made me do it and educational value [which this game does not have] when I reviewed it - it didn't make me with any other game, weird) 3 stars is that it has a variety of bad gliches, having special attacks and healing stop working is the most often occuring one. Once however, it almost deleted all my data by itself. But, these gliches could be (and probably are) a result of my playing for 96 or so hours. i recommend this game to anyone who owns a Gameboy Advance, whether you're a sonic fan or not!

4-0 out of 5 stars The blue spiky thing does it again!
When I first got a chance to play this game, I thought after seeing the intro (which was really none) that this was going to suck.Boy this shut me up.In this game, you can battle up to 3 other people with punches, kicks, and if you're Shadow (who really is something else), fire energy pulses. The action is fast-paced, but one problem I had is that the special attack meter takes too long to fill, the AI seems to hunt the player down every game, and its relatively easy to defeat an opponent with a combo into a wall-then slam to the ground-then a knockback attack. But either way, this game is rather addictive and worth the buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A much-needed breath of fresh air!
As a former video game zealot from my childhood and who became increasingly disillusioned at how grim, and violent that so many video games have become (Men of Honor? Give me a break! That's just something to turn our kids into possible soldiers) but 2003's "Sonic Battle" however is a major relief and gives me hope of more of the harmless fun that made video games so much fun and great escape entertainment!

While the games I played were historically adventure games (which I generally prefer), this game combines the adventure genre with battle genre and this game almost combines the X vs. X styles of "Mortal Kombat" minus the blood with the light-hearted fun of the Sonic games of old and the results are absolutely amazing! The music is awesome as well and if I could hook it up to a stereo, one could possibly get better music than what radio stations can offer these days.

There are many modes. The first is the story mode where the game starts in Emerald Town with Sonic and Tails finding a mysterious robot on Emerald Beach. Little do they know that this robot is actually a product of the evil Dr. Eggman (Dr. Robotnik from the old games but now known as Eggman) who threw it out believing that it was just a piece of junk. But this robot is powered by Chaos Emeralds. The game just gets more fun from here onwards. More characters eventually come in including some that I've never even seen or heard of before.

Battle Mode is a different mode where you can select any character to play including 'evil' characters to battle against three competitors including 'clones'. "Battle Mode" can be played alone or against other players as well. This one is a lot fun.

Challenge Mode involves making lots of points when taking into account how quickly the competitor is defeated, how much damage is done, rate of offensive attacks hitting it's target, etcetera.

Mini-games is a totally separate area from the otehr modes in which miniature games are played. The only solitary player game in this area is the Mine-Dig starring Knuckles the Echidna and it is played in the same what that the computer game Minesweeper is played in which Knuckles must uncover the squares but not the ones containing mines.

"Sonic Battle" is a welcome return for my favorite video game franchise ever. Go and buy it today! Even adults might enjoy this game as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 million thumbs up for Sonic Battle!!
My very faveorite Sonic game for gameboy advance! This is not your normal "Run through the zone and get to the goal ring" Sonic game. It is a battling game. It has tons of great adventures. The graphics are awesome, and so is the sound. There is a new Sonic charecter named "Emerl" the robot. You can customize his fighting skills and make him very powerful. This game is another A+ Sonic game to add to the collection!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sonic's First Cool GBA Game
Finally, none of that running at high speeds and collecting coins. There's action. I like Shadow, because whenever I'm Sonic against my friend, I lose. Rouge=lose, Amy=lose, Shadow=win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for beginners and veterans. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A classic adventure!What,no upgrades?
The legend of Zelda is a truely magnificent series, and a joy of an experience! Slash ememies, light tourches, unlock doors, find treasure, and defeat an evil king with a twisted-mind!
Use amazing weapons like boomerangs, bombs, aroows,a magic wand, and plently of different swords! Collect the mystical pieces of the Triforce before all is lost...
Souns catchy doesnt it? It sounds like an awesome adventure and it is,but before you rush off to buy it,please read on...

Recently,Nintendo has been remaking alot of thier older games for the GameBoy Advance, wow! That's great, isnt it? Here's the thing, almost all of the games that they've remade have absolutly NO changes! In some cases,I would consider this a good thing, but with this game you've got to be kidding me?!? I've played through the entire game once before, and although it is a very fun & charming game,well... Put it this way, they should have at least changed it a little. Couldnt they have fixed all of the little annoyenes in the game? For example,Links eyes & mouth are noting but green rectangles, couldnt they fix that by making the rectangles that make up Link's eyes blue, and the one for his mouth red? I wouldnt want them to completely overhaul the game, just fix a few things like the one that I listed above.

Another problem that I've always had with this game is that you're supposed to be saving the land of Hyrule, but did I miss something or has it already been wiped-out? Honestly,I'm I the only one who's ever noticed that there's nothing to save???
There are no buildings,no people, and no towns or castles in this game! I'm sorry, but I need to feel obligated by a games story to complete it,and there's no obligation because Link has absolutely nothing to save but a dusty-old wasteland and the only human being that lives there! Oh-no! Please Ganon, dont destroy that uh... Tree! No Ganon! You vindictive fiend, dont blow up that uh... Um... Hey wait, what am I afraid of? There's absolutly nothing of value for you to destroy!!! As for the Princess Zelda, tell her to call me when she has a land worth saving.-Link

Pros:A classic NES title remade to fit on your GBA,very challenging & interesting game, lots of weapons & items to collect, and a powerful enemy to defeat!

Cons:Nothing about this game has been changed! Even the things that despretly needed to be changed werent changed!!!
There's nothing to save from ganon's wrath because there are no towns or people anywhere! Ganon, the king of evil,is nothing more than a giant blue-skinned pig in battle armor!

Do you want to play a Zelda game with towns & people to save?
Then buy any other Zelda title there is!

Closing thoughts:Altough this game has a few things that I would have liked to have seen updated or changed,it is still a fun game
and it's worth he small price that they're charging for it.
My favorite Zelda titles include,The Legend of Zelda:The ocarina of time,The Legend of Zelda:Link's awakening, and The Legend of Zelda:The wind waker.

5-0 out of 5 stars Re-living the classics.....
I've owned my GBA SP only for a few weeks now (I had completely given up video games after my son was born two years ago) but I have to confess that I only bought it when I realized that the Link I used to know (and sometimes dispise when some boss would keep me under a killing streak) was back. I don't regret my decision at all....IT'S BEEN A BLAST!!!

Everything is back, of course not with the video quality of today and the score could have been a little louder, but still this is one great game to play. I had completely forgotten the intrinsicate delicacies of obtaining a boomerang and toss out the wooden sword or defeating a boss after SEVERAL tries.

Probably those of you young gba-adicts who grew up when this was already a classic will find it plain and simple, but for those of you out there that enjoyed rescuing Zelda in the early nineties...this is a must-have.

Enjoy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Er, sorry to be the "dissenter" here...
...but I don't like this game at all. I'm a big Zelda fan and loved all the GBC, N64, GBA and GameCube games, but because of my age, I had never played the "classic" Zelda games. So I picked this up, aiming to be a full-blown Zelda aficionado.

Yet within a few minutes of play, I realized that the game was far too primitive for someone reared in the era of Link's Awakening DX and Ocarina of Time. There are no NPCs to talk to, no exploration to be done, none of anything that I had come to expect from the series. I am well aware that I was probably expecting too much, but whether that's true or not, I was disappointed.

Although I didn't find anything to enjoy in this game, I'm not saying that it's bad. I'm sure that it was a classic of its era, and those who grew up with NES games will probably fall in love with it all over again. But from the perspective of someone who relies only on what she has read and heard for info on this bygone time, it simply seems like a bland, watered-down hack 'n slasher.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic game now portable
The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite NES games and now you can play it anywhere on the GBA. You can tell that this game is good because it is still alot of fun after all these years. I was fortunate to find this on sale the week it came out so even despite that, the price tag overall seems fair for such a great game although I don't think some of the other classic NES games are worth that price. Overall, if your a Zelda fan who wants to remember a great game or even if you've never played this before, you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars The original is back!
The Legend of Zelda began as a humble NES game that was first released in the '80s that single-handlely jump started a whole new genre of video games-the adventure games-a unique combination of the action and RPG genres! While the Zelda franchise has evolved over the years, adding more and more interesting characters, complex storylines, and improved graphics, none of those games (not even the Ocarina of Time) can compare with the kind of quality charm the original had.I guess the old saying's true, "The original is always the best!" and the same can be applied to Zelda. While thestoryline and gameplay may be simplistic compared to the Zelda games of today, and while the graphics may be "outdated", the original Zelda continues to remain as challenging and fun as ever. The Zelda games of today often give the players clues as to which direction you're supposed to head in next after completing a certain part of the game, but the original Zelda didn't offer any clues whatsoever.

You had to rely on either your raw instinct or a strategy guide to figure out what to do next. The dungeons weren't easy to beat, either. You had to wonder around complex mazes while battling against all sorts of strange creatures before you finally made it to the boss.A tradition that has always been handed down since the original was that you could find a special item in each dungeon that could be used to help defeat the boss, but unlike the Zelda games of today, there weren't any clues as to where that special item was located at, so you had to find it on your own.And an interesting fact is that if you register your file name as "Zelda", it'll unlock an even harder version of the game to play.I've always wished that Nintendo would re-release the original Zelda because my NES is broken now and I can no longer play it, so I was very happy to learn that this game was being re-released on the GBA!And not only is this re-release a faithful import of the original Zelda, but because it's on the GBA now, you can play it where ever you're at!Now I'll finally get to relive the glory days of the original Zelda and newbie fans can experience the original for the first time, too!So, if you're an old time Zelda fan like me and loved the original, I highly recommend buying this GBA re-release of it because it's perfect!Or if you're new to the Zelda franchise and have never played the original before, I highly recommend picking it up, too!Don't let the "simplisticy" of the gameplay or the "outdated" graphics fool you! This is the most unforgettable Zelda game of all time and the best video game ever, and it should not be passed up! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I think this game is great. Me and my friend got this game and we both love it. We both started out as an archer and even though my friend got it 5 months beore me. He is only at fairy spring and has only done 1 side quest I am at Hotshek volcano and have done all the side quests up to that point besides the two hidden dungeons. It has only one con. The cons are that important conversasions you have to wait. I have heard that people dislike the storyline but I don't really think its bad and if I did I wouldn't care. I have never played the first game but that does not make a diffrence.

Graphics 9 out of 10 Pretty good. The soul powers are awsome.

Gameplay 10 out of 10 The controls are very easy to understand.

Replayabitlity Limitless You have 9 characters (8 normal one secret)that are customizable in abot a million ways each.

Secret You can go through the wall on the right side of the red shoe girl's wall then there is a passage way where yo go through 2 more walls when you get to the second one go up.
Music ? I turn music off

I really love this game

4-0 out of 5 stars A portable diablo game.
This game is good for people who most likely to spend your hours hack and slashin' enemies and baddies, and love to see your character level up. Why I said this is a portable Diablo game, was because they have over 100 generated items, it's really fun to see your equip get stronger and stronger as you buy weapons/armor from the stores. If you are a gamer who likes a good storyline, I recommend you don't buy this, because this has a crappy story, you will not enjoy it, dialogs are slow, but if you are a gamer who likes to play, not caring about the story, this game is for you, 18 levels to beat up baddies, it can get repetitive going to the same dungeons with the dialog and all. I recommend this game to most people.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
I was getting my GBA and decided to pick this up as my first game.I hadn't played the first one and didn't know anything about it.But then I started playing it and loved it.The story starts out with your character going to some tournement but the king ends up sending you on a journey to save the princess. Then once youv'e gone through a few levels and save the princess the story goes on.One complaint I have is once you load a save file and forget to save again your all the way at the begining of the dungeon again. If this happens you get more and more experience but you have to play the level again and it makes the bosses way to easy.I havnet really listened to the music cause I keep the sound off but when I did hear the music it's not that bad. This game is great so if you like hack n slash games this game is a good on to have.

4-0 out of 5 stars Shining through the Ages
This game is heaps of fun.I could play for hours and hours and actually found myself doing just that.If you don't mind returning to town all the time to buy more health drops and to sell off extraneous items, this game is a must buy.The only qualm I had was that it seemed at times monsters could attack you from a diagonal but you couldn't hit them.Maybe just a bug or a quirk.Either way, fun, fun, fun. Finally, levels are easy to gain and the variety of weapons and items make the game a little more enjoyable. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Sonic Advance 3-a must-have for Sonic fans!!
Excellent graphics and is very entertaining! Exciting gameplay and cool levels. Fun for everyone! This game has good music and you can partner up with different Sonic characters- like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Cream, and Amy. Although some bosses are difficult to defeat, it is a very good game overall.

5-0 out of 5 stars good
all the sonic games are pretty much the same. you run through a maze of loops, ramps, cannons (ect.)and always do a stunt or two, and have explosive bosses. this game is pretty much the same. i suggest you get this game if you're a sonic fan, but i wish that all the games woul'nt be the same.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good? Maybe. Long? Very.
Sonic Advance 3 is the long anticipated sequel of the already popuLar Sonic Advance series. Sonic Advance 2 was longer, funner and more challenging and Sonic Advance 3 takes the formula a little longer.

You select a partner to help you in this game, varying from partner to partner there is Speed, Fly and Power formations which are different to each set of partners. They all make the game harder, easier, funner or more challenging. ALso the character that you control, the char. you control varies between partners. It is quite fun to play with the different combos.

Ah yes, the game would be twice as more fun if you haven't played Sonic Advance 2 immensly like me and got a habit of using the R stunts; they're back but not compatible with every partner team.

If you love a game that takes a long time to beat and has replayability, this game is for you!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Game
This game gets complicated when you first start but overall the game is great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sonic Advance 3, Best of all of em!!!
Ithink that it is the best out of all of them because it has now got a partnership going on.This is when you hold down R and a tagteam system starts. This is cool cause you can get things like a speed boost from sonic, or you can go up in the air with tails.Right now i am on zone 5, stage two. It is really hard when you get to the water bit cause you always drown.I am also wondering when you get to be another character cause right now i'm only sonic or tails. ... Read more
