The controls are more complicated than necessary. For example, threeseparate buttons must be pressed to complete a pass, one to fade back, another to select a receiver, and finally another to catch the ball. Youhave very little time to do this even at the easiest level. Even if youkeep backs in to block, you rarely have more than 2 seconds to complete apass. Even bad rushing teams can sack the QB 10 times per game playing 5minute quarters. This is not realistic, which is consistent with the restof the game. Passing is also blind, since your perspective is from behindthe QB, you rarely see the receivers and have no idea what the coverage is.Your completion success has little to do with these factors, which arecritical in the real game. It's easy to complete passes once you get theknack of pushing the right buttons quickly, but there is little sense ofaccomplishment when your success or throwing has nothing to do withthrowing to the open receiver or exploiting a weakness in the defense. Infact, the type of defense called seems to have no effect on the outcome ofa given offensive play. You can stack the line against the run, completelyplug the hole, and the computer running back will stay on his feet for 10seconds, then break into the secondary for a long TD. This can happen withmediocre backs and excellent defenses. Conversely, the computer willroutinely complete long passes into triple coverage and score longtouchdown passes against a prevent defense. Despite the difficult andnon-responsive controls, once you get the hang of passing, you'll throw oneTD pass after another. Interceptions are few and far between. Ridiculouslyhigh scores are common even when playing 5 minute quarters. I tried toplay a season with my favorite team, and gave up after two games becausethe gameplay was so unrealistic and irritating. Another annoying featureis if you want to switch players, you can only do so for one play at atime. Playing the Rams, I wanted to use Kurt Warner instead of Terry Green. The game allows you to switch them by formation, so if you haven't decidedon a formation, it won't work if you happen to choose a differentformation. After the play is completed, the game reverts to the defaultplayer setting. Extremely annoying. I gave it 1 star because that was thelowest rating possible. It deserves 0 stars. Sega's NFL2K is far farbetter.

The game is a game designed for "the thinking gamer." Thats right, if you're one of those that get headaches from thinking while playing games then pass this one up. The game is loaded with action but you'll have to use your brain to discover what to do. I can't tell you how much fun and challenging this is. The only downfall is that when you discover what to do it will no longer be challenging after you beat the game. The graphics are decent and you do get the Arabian atmosphere when you play. This is a game for the gamer that wants a true challenge. If you're not into thinking then you can pass this one up.

Amazon.com Product Description In the game, four teams of Nanobot warriors clash in futuristic 3-D arenas for the pursuit of land. You can choose from 12 different Nano-Gladiators to battle it out in the post-apocalyptic Geomatrix. The game features cool characters based on creations from artist Simon Bisley and edgy 3-D graphics. The blistering metal soundtrack contains new songs by Megadeth, Halford, Corrosion of Conformity, WASP, Entombed, and Dust to Dust. Reviews (5)
The actual arenas in this game are all rather compact, with either a hill or a wall to lamely spice things up.They don't have any personality, or fun additions like, say, the obstical filled levels in smash brothers have.It becomes about as dull as you'd expect playing on what's basically the same level over and over. The characters are similarly generic. There's 4 teams of three fighters, but the teams don't mean anything other than cosmetic differences. The only real distinctions between the characters is whether they're guy, girl, or brute.Girls are fast, Brutes are strong, guys are balanced. Each character DOES have a specific set of starting weapons, but once the match begins you'll quickly use it up or grab a new one anyways. There's no special moves, feel or play style to any of the fighters, you can pretty much do the same stuff with any of them. It's hard to tell if you've even changed characters between matches. Chaos matrix mode does add some extra enjoyment. You basically cruise around in various arenas made of blocks trying to kill enemies and/or grab keys and then exit before time runs out. Most of these are way too short and easy, but a few actually take place in a large and interesting (though made of blocks) arenas against a challenging assortment of opponents. But unless you feel like replaying them over and over to beat your high scores, they'll get old fast. If you've already got some good battling games, pick up HMG to add some variation to you and your friends' gaming. But don't expect too much. This game, while certainly not bad, is still just %100 collection filler.
What Heavy Metal is not, is "deep".There are basically three modes, two being obvious (the standard arcade mode and a simple Versus mode). The third is an interesting mix of Arcade gameplay with mision objectives and point scores (Arcade is simply a "beat the best finish time" type). But ultimately you're just running and gunning around small 3D arenas, intent on finding that new gun powerup that will allow you to blow up, or enflame, or slice...rather than just kickbox your foe to death. Still, Heavy Metal Geomatrix is truly Dreamcast-worthy in appearance and speed. And despite relatively simple base mechanics, it can become very tough to take out the AI at higher levels (where they take 2 of the best characters and throw them at you together and with a vengeance). Overall, the game is highly recommended to fill these two niches in your gaming library: 1) having fun in Versus blowing up your visiting friends, or 2) an ever-ready quick-blast arcade experience in Arcade modes. This kind of game is the exact opposite of a stats-laden sports game or rpg, which means that you won't plan to set aside hours to play it at time. But it may just work out that way...!

Editorial Review Interactive fighting environments are fun, but what really sets Power Stone apart are the power stones. Collecting all three stones transforms the character into a superbeing, unlocking new and devastating attacks. Since the overall goal of the game is to beat up your opponent, and the superform lets you do the most damage, competition for the stones is fierce. If you're tired of the standard fighting game formula and want a little more, Power Stone is the game for you. It's a perfect translation of the arcade hit, and the uncomplicated, frantic combat will bring a grin to many a jaded gamer's face. --Mike Fehlauer Pros: Features Reviews (46)

Editorial Review You command an elite antiterrorism force through a series of stealth and action missions. Sometimes youwill need to sneak through a foreign embassy in the dark with your night vision goggles on, while othertimes you'll need to launch a full-on weapons attack on your enemies. The game does both types ofmissions well, but you'll have to spend some time planning with your team before you start each level.Plotting out missions in advance and positioning team members lends a unique real-time strategy feel to thealready excellent shooter aspect of the game. As the team leader, you are solely responsible for making sure each mission goes well. Direct and protectyour squad, save any hostages who might be hanging around, and accomplish your main missionobjectives. The latter may include sabotage, simple spying, or even assassinations. Good luck. --BillHutchens Pros: Reviews (43)
You and your group do drills to train for your missions. The only bad part is the missions and choosing all of your stuff takes a long time....A VERY LONG TIME..... After you have all of your weapons and materials you go on over 21 different missions. You kill terrorists and try to save hostages by getting past the terrorists guarding them who will shoot you right when they see you which causes a problem. It is nearly impossible to save the hostages. On your missions you also go to certian areas and get ready to make your attack on the enemies. Then its time to attack with your sweet guns. This game is a great shooting simulator that will attract many people who enjoy hunting or shooting with guns. This game is almost too realistic which isn't all that bad, but bad when it comes to you getting killed all the time when you go on certain missions. If you are looking for some fun with your Dreamcast...this is the game to get.
I like this game very much. It's very realistic, sometimes to realistic. The cons are minor glitches such as getting stuck on walls while climbing or stepping, which really hinders you in the stealth levels. I have yet to actually finish the game due to the insane difficulty level, but what I have seen is impressive. Story: 9/10

Editorial Review Complementing the goofy gameplay is a feature-rich player editor, where you can customize everything from your created player's height, weight, and ability to clothing and facial features. With a TV-style presentation and impressive visuals, this is one hoops game that any arcade sports fan will enjoy. Simply put, if you liked NBA Jam, you'll love NBA Showtime. --Sajed Ahmed Pros: Reviews (33)

Editorial Review Still, this game looks so darn cool, you can't resist playing it. The requisite tricks fromsnowboarding games are here, but this time they actually add important power-ups toyour repertoire, favoring function over, dare we say, style. To save yourself thefrustration of trying to consistently win races, you should enjoy this game by watchingthe screen while other more nimble or less leisure-time-deficient friends play. --JeffYoung Pros: Reviews (30)
