Editorial Review The shiny box includes a videotape that shows beginners how to get themost out of the device, a GD-ROM containing the boot-up software, several preinstalled cheat codes for a variety of games, and a small"code holder" that attaches to the bottom port of your Dreamcastcontroller. To use the device, you just load the included GD-ROM,select the game you want to play from the list, and tell the GameSharkwhich cheat codes to enable. Then you simply insert the game disc whenprompted, and the cheat codes will be in effect as soon as the gamelaunches, courtesy of the little black device attached to your gamecontroller. One nice thing about this GameShark is that you can use yourDreamcast's modem to connect to the official Web site to grab thelatest codes. Otherwise you can enter them manually. We found that theGameShark was terrific for revisiting older games we've already beaten--andeven better for blowing through rental games we had no plans topurchase. It's easy to use, and new codes are released regularly. Special note to consumers: It has been reported that there areincorrect codes for the Dreamcast game Resident Evil: CodeVeronica installed on the GD-ROM that accompanies the firstgeneration of GameShark devices. Consumers who find that thepreinstalled codes for this game do not work should visit the InteractWeb site to obtain the correct codes. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (30)

Editorial Review JoJo's Bizarre Adventure adds a few more twists to the standard2-D fighting genre, and the strangest are the sidekicks called Standsthat each player has. These familiars occasionally enter the fray whenthe action heats up, and combined attacks with the characters and theStands are the most powerful in the game. The onscreen action can get alittle confusing since so many things are happening at once, but thesimplistic controls help keep things manageable. JoJo's BizarreAdventure is not the best 2-D fighting game ever made--in fact, inmany ways it seems downright dated when compared to superior 3-Dfighters such as Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive 2.However, if you are seeking a simple fighting fix, JoJo's BizarreAdventure does make a solid and colorful addition to the Dreamcastlineup. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (7)
The disc itself has two versions of the game on it, one is Jojos venture, and the other is Jojos Bizarre Adventure. Not much difference between the two except "venture" has a survival mode while "bizarre" has more characters to choose from. The game overall is not going to blow any hardcore gamers away, but it can be a fun and humorous alternative to more complex fighters. There are better fighters out there for the same price as this one, so only go for this game if you are a diehard fighting fan and feel the need to have as many as possible or a first time player, otherwise you might feel upset over your purchase if you are used to the likes of Street Fighter and Fatal Fury.
The DC does have MUCH better graphics, sound, and full animations for each character, (Middler dances in the DC version for her standing pose!) but only one option, Kiddie Mode. The PlayStation mode has over 25 secrets to unlock, and 9 mini-games to keep you busy for quite some time! The Stands are transparent and the characters don't have full animation, but all of the attacks are there and the game-play is wonderful. So at least give it a try - you won't go away disappointed! ... Read more

The graphics are very bad. It look like a SNES game. Don't wate your money on this, you will be disoppointed as I was. I expected much better from a game with SNK and street-fighter characters.
If you like fighting games and you have a dreamcast, buy this!
Go to capcoms web-site and buy on-line for twenty dollars or go to ANY other on-line retailer who sales dc games. The game IS worth every penny, it's the most amazing 2D fighter you'll play, if you loved SNK fighters and Capcom fighters from the 80's... get ready for fun. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review Quake III Arena is the first title to allow multiplayer, real-timenetworked gaming between Dreamcast and PC players. Hooking up through theSegaNet servers, players can go online and shoot it out with other people aroundthe world for the first time in console history. (We played with a keyboard anda mouse--the only way Quake III should ever be played--and with them weexacted my punishment on more than just a few unsuspecting patrons.) A full slate of 25 nasty warriors has been rolled out for the Dreamcast game. The weapons--which range from shotguns and rocket launchers to lightning gunsand plasma guns--and effects also are packed in tighter than Charlie Tuna in hiscan. It also has all of the nifty springboards, quad damage, space-age dungeons, and everything that we loved about our favorite shooter on the PC. The Dreamcast version has a large variety of gameplay options, including singleplayer, free-for-all, tournament, team deathmatch, and capture the flag, most ofwhich are open for play in two-to-four-player split-screen mode. The game'srendering engine achieves smooth and realistic texturing, and stunningenvironmental effects. The environments in particular are great, with dazzlingsky textures leading the way. Also, the geometry and large, detailed textures ofthe character models make them the envy of the console world. The character's movements in Quake III Arena didn't feel nearly as smoothas in the PC version, because of a rather slow framerate. Compared to the PCversion, this one makes you feel like you're battling with one leg in concrete. While it's good for console and ambitious even for the Dreamcast processor, youfind yourself losing targets that you feel you should track with no problem. Onecan forgive Quake III Arena if at the end of the day you have somethinggood to play online. With Quake III Arena, something good this way comes.--Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (43)
The game play is a little too fast and control on the controller (although it can be customised) is difficult. Aiming and tracking enemies becomes unbearably difficult with the controller and brings the game down more than anything else!! Nothing is more frustrating than trying to dodge and return fire through strifing, it is accomplished much easier in Outtrigger! Overall Quake Arena is a serious let down!! I have Quake 2 on my PC and enjoyed the single player missions which are in NO WAY found in Quake Arena! I was really excited to get this game as I read all the over-hyped reviews on this site and others...but my heart was broken by frustrating and frantic speeds coupled with annoying aiming or lack of aiming mechanism. I was first introduced to the genre through the multi-player Deathmatch of Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear on the DC and that was a much better experience with my friends. The idea of stealth, sniping, throwing grenades around corners and planting c4 all made that title a much better investment. Quake Arena lacks ALL that and exchanges it with fast running... shoot... run out of ammo... run... run... shoot with no strategy... run etc. You get the point. The game simply has you running VERY fast and struggling to process all the action. On the plus side the game has good graphics, sound and the ability to turn blood OFF...thats it the positives end there! My final word is simply this..."Look elsewhere for a good FPS"

Editorial Review By far, the best feature of the game is the variety of boxers--20 in all--representing a range of personalities and abilities. Afro Thunder, for example, is a trash-talking, Chris Rock-sounding fighter with a repertoire of ring speed, quick jabs, and over-the-top hooks, while Butcher Brown is a heavy-handed thug built like a dump truck. There's something for everyone, with many nationalities, genders, and fighting styles represented. Since each fighter has different speed, reach, and moves, there is a pleasant amount of depth to the game. Ready 2 Rumble offers two different game modes: Arcade and Championship. Arcade mode is for one or two players, and is simply a series of boxing matches. The single-player option pits you against a computer-controlled opponent, while the two-player format lets you and a buddy hammer it out. Championship mode puts you in charge of your own boxing gym. You start the game with three rookie fighters, facing off in second-rate gyms, and it's your job to train them in hopes of reaching the championship bout. Championship mode also lets you access Ready 2 Rumble's most innovative feature: the ability to pit your prized fighters against boxers from a friend's gym through the Visual Memory Unit. Just save your stable of boxers onto the VMU and then use it in a buddy's Dreamcast, where you can fight an exhibition match against one of his or her boxers, or arrange a trade. The VMU also lets you save your progress. Without it, all your boxers (and all the secret characters you've managed to unlock) are erased when you turn off the console. But then again, if you've got Ready 2 Rumble, it's unlikely that you'll turn off the console anytime soon. --Mike Fehlauer Pros: Reviews (32)
Gameplay Graphics Sound Ready 2 Rumble also has Championship mode which is fun. Overall The game is pretty entertaining...It's my favorite Boxing game for the Sega Dreamcast. Get this game if you have a sega Dreamcast....It's just pure fun! Later...
The game has two modes, an Arcade mode and a Championship mode. TheArcade mode is fun when played against another "human" opponent. The 2 player game will give the user more opportunities to taunt, set upfor a combo, and go all out. Most people enjoy this type of fighting, infact everyone should. The Championship mode is for the die-hard playerwho likes to win, win, win. Going into championship mode requires a memorycartridge, and most importantly patience. The road to gold is a long, frustrating, and often dull experience. It is true when you work your wayup to Gold status, strategies have to be used. The user finds out moreabout fighting the computer, really it's just like real boxing(jab, cut thering off, win by decision). While few have the patience to test theirskills against the computer, the die-hard player never really gets thatmuch better especially against a "human" opponent who fights awhole lot different from the computer. The game has various characters, with interesting backgrounds. We have a retired 21 year old cab drivergoing up against the Devil himself. Each fighter have different attributes, and using them to their right potential is key. Maybe the only bad thingabout the game is the music(endless). But Ready 2 Rumble wins by TKO overany other boxing games. ... Read more

PRO: Second, the 6 buttons lay out is almost a MUST for Capcam fighting games!!Sega MESS UP big time on the original Dreamcast controller by not putting 6 buttons lay out.It is almost impossible to play games like Street Fighter 3, or Capcom VS SNK, with any good skill since most of the require FAST all 6 buttonsaccess.I mean, how hard it is to put 6 buttons lay out on the controller?? (MadCatz did it) CON: OVERALL: (WARNING) The version 1 (only in white color) comes with a suckie RUBBER D-pad and it is not controlling well. The version 2 (white and other color available), comes with a NEW rubber/plastic mix D-Pad and it ROCKS!!So if you are looking for Madcatz Dream Pad.Make sure you get the version 2!

Editorial Review While Tee Off does require some basic golf knowledge, it uses astandardized control scheme which even those who've never played video golf willbe able to pick up on right away. In addition to customizable difficulty levels,Tee Off offers various modes of play, including gate ball (think croquetin cyberspace) and world tour, which rewards players' high scores by "unlocking"new characters and equipment. Admittedly, Tee Off isn't for devotees of more simulation-oriented golftitles, as they'll probably pass it off as kiddie fare. However, casual videogolfers and those new to the armchair sport are in for one heck of a good timeon the links. --Joe Hon Pros: Reviews (21)

It reminds me heavily of Crazy Taxi -- free roaming a large city. But with the mission-based levels and many cars to choose from, it has an added bit of variety. The controls are a mixed bag: the acceleration and braking are perfect (and different depending on the vehicle), but the steering is a bit floaty but not too bad once you adjust to it. The overall control and physics are more realistic than the "arcadey" feel of Crazy Taxi, add to that the fact that your car sustains damage and can be disabled with excessive damage and you have a much different experience. I'm a big fan of Crazy Taxi, but this game still felt fresh to me. And for the reviewer that played the import version: reportedly the US version has had the control tightened up -- I can't say for certain since I didn't play the import version, but I only have minor gripes about the floaty feel of the cars. ... Editorial Review To beat each level, players must drive a tank around large, hilly, desolate areas while scooping up precious containers of glowing energycapsules before dropping them off at your home base. This gamechallenges the player with a wildly varying elevation and drab-coloredterrain. The control scheme for shooting is also tough to tackle.Players fire their tank's cannon by pressing a button, but holding thebutton down will increase the angle of trajectory. Not only that, theenergy capsules are often obstructed, requiring all sorts of physicalpuzzle solving to get at them. While not exactly thrill-a-minute, thisgame has plenty of depth and challenge to keep thoughtful gamers happyfor quite some time. --Jeff Young Pros: Reviews (17)
Okay, so there's no big emphasis on some hokey "storyline" gag, no pre-mission briefing, etcetera. (...)It's a freakin' TANK GAME!(....) Select your tank, rumble out into the hills and mountains to find and store your power cores, and try to blow away everything that moves before it blows you away.Yeah, it takes some thinking, some strategy, but it's not rocket science with a need for some in-depth, hokey storyline in order for you to grasp the concept, and the essence of your mission. And, okay, so there's not any obnoxious, loud, thumping music blaring at you while you play.Just the realistic rumble of your tank, the rattle of the tracks, the explosion of artillery fire. The absence of a bunch of stupid theme music cluttering up the game is a plus, not a minus. You'll learn to love the ambient sounds of the game, and will begin to concentrate on them. It's nice to be able to hear the shots coming in at you. Some (...) have trashed the graphics, too.I actually think they're pretty good, in a desolate, otherworldly sort of way.And I love the less than 1G gravity effect.Yes, (...), a tank CAN sometimes fly! My biggest criticism would be this:In order to ever get REALLY good at this game, you MUST be able to shoot on the move, steering the tank in one direction, rotating the turret in another while selecting weapons, shooting, adjusting trajectory and delivering your ordinance on target -- all on the fly.I haven't mastered it yet.I mostly still just pick my ground carefully, try to ambush them, strike first, strike hard, hurt them before they even get their turret turned in my direction, and, when the steel starts flying, stand toe-to-toe and just outshoot them.Doesn't always prove successful, though, and any tips on shooting on the move would be appreciated. In short, Wild Metal is a very cool game!Buy it! ... Read more

Editorial Review The gridiron action is enhanced by the voices of the players. A safety who body-slams a wide receiver willstand over the writhing body and jeer, "You're in MY house, sucka!"A sacked quarterback may limpaway, wailing, "I think it's broken!"Even the game's announcers get in on it, gleefully pointing out thatyour star running back just got clobbered. So NFL Blitz 2000 is the perfect game to play with your buddies. It's fast, fierce, and quickly getseveryone talking trash and slinging taunts. Up to four people can play at once, two on each team (eachplayer needs their own controller). Fans of deep, realistic football strategy should check out NFL 2K. But fans of the kind of football foundin highlight reels will love NFL Blitz 2000. Reviews (16)
First downs are 30 yards, there are no penalties, there's no kickoff, and there is no realism involved as far as athletic ability of the players. For example, if you complete a pass from Young to Rice (remember, this is 2000!), and Rice has the open field, two defenders are actually able to catch up to Rice and tackle him. This is flat out ridiculous, even for an arcade game.Ditto Terrell Owens and Tim Brown, and I was able to stop other wideouts with linebackers just by squeezing the turbo button. The emphasis is obviously on bone-crushing tackles, but after an hour of play, the only really enjoyable aspect of this is the ability to cheap-shot the offensive players long after the ball is whistled dead. The field-goal kicking system is particularly vexing, as it was apparently designed by a chimp with ADD, and requires eight espresso-mochacchinos in order to maintain the twitch focus required to accurately split the uprights. Overall, I see this as a fun arcade game for younger kids not up to simulation-level gameplay, and guys/gals who just want to have fun beating each other's players up.Me, if I want to beat up some guy, I'll play Soul Calibur.

Editorial Review While single-player action is adequate, this game truly shines during the dual-player mode. Withenemies attacking from every possible angle, the onscreen action can be overwhelming at times.Almost anything onscreen can be used as a weapon--and we do mean anything. Forexample, in one scene the fighting takes place in a public restroom. Let's just say that the urinals onthe wall make wonderful weapons. Other innovative weapons include a vacuum cleaner, a couch,and--egad!--even a fish! Dynamite Cop is instinctive and easy to use. Advanced gamers will likely breeze throughthe three distinct missions in this game, while casual gamers will appreciate the simplicity.--Brett Atwood Pros: Reviews (30)
