This game will give you HOURS of fun and it's a great replay game. Good for all ages too!!!
The game plot itself is relatively simple. You play as Hoigle Floigan, and your dopey brother Moigle tags along. Moigle is amusing in a very mentally-retarded or idiot-savant kind of way, if you find that sort of thing funny. If you don't, it's probably borderline offensive. Moigle's stupid, Hoigle's too short and weak to be useful. Moigle needs seven parts to create his little seekrit project, and to get them, he's going to need Hoigle's help. The Brothers own a junkyard, and to screw things up even further, there's an evil guy who wants control of the junkyard, so he throws his cat henchmen down from his blimp to take over. There's no visible motivation for *why* this Baron Malodorous fellow wants the junkyard, he just does. Why are his minions cats? They just are. "It just *is*," might as well be a slogan for this game. Things are arbitrary in a way that's really... bizarre. First of all, you'd think, when you're first shown the seven parts that you need (things like a chimney stack, an engine, a fan, etc.) that these are common things to find in a junkyard. So context-relevant puzzles would seem to make sense. No such luck. You find a fan by blowing up a cat, and you find the chimney stack by having a huge plant barf it up for you. Completely incoherent, illogical solutions to puzzles do not a fun game make. Why is the chimney stack there? It just *is*. The whole game so far is like this. The design of the gameplay is simply no fun, the AI for the characters is entertaining for about five minutes, the voice samples get old quick, and the game itself, while pretty, is like talking to the Mona Lisa. It may look good, but it's not saying much. For $5, I'd say "pick it up." If you're a completist, you'll have to have it. If you're curious about what they've done with it, it might be worth the [current price] to sate your curiosity. But I was *really* curious, and I feel pretty ripped off. People were harshing on EGM for giving this game low, low, low scores, but in all honesty, I find a 1.5/10 almost entirely justified. How this scored 8.5 on IGN is totally beyond me, and even after reading their review, it seems difficult to tell what about the game it was that the reviewer even liked.
In the game, you control Hoigle, who must help his brother Moigle gather the seven parts he needs to complete a secret device he is building in the garage.During the game, you must have Moigle help you access areas that are inaccessible by doing different things, including making him happy, angry, sad, and by playing games with him. The games you play with Moigle get somewhat repetitive after a while and can slow the game play down.I recommend teaching him to play catch as soon as possible since it's one of the quicker games and pays one of the most amount of points, which Hoigle needs to accumulate to teach Moigle different things. The different games you play with Moigle are High Five, Tag, Hide And Seek, Catch, and the Running Game. The Running Game you can't learn until late in the game and I've never been able to beat Moigle at it, although there must be a way to do so.I guess I just can't figure it out. As you interact with different things in the junkyard, you'll be able to teach Moigle more skills, although there is one thing I haven't been able to teach him. That's what keeps drawing me back into the game, trying to accomplish the tasks that I haven't been able to solve yet, although I've already beaten the game.Try it for yourself, if you like cartoons, I think you'll like this too.Just don't pay too much for this game, its replay value is fairly low and it shouldn't take much more than six hours or so to beat it.Still though, you should enjoy those six hours. ... Editorial Review The game purports to offer the thrill of driving a selection of testosterone-charged real cars in some of theworld's most scenic locations. But instead of hitting top speed on the open road or doing doughnuts on theVatican's lawn, you must race a bunch of veteran professional drivers around a number of preset trackswith hairpin turns. Even that could be fun, but here the tracks are missing the shortcuts and power-ups of anarcade racing game, and the cars are missing the accurate physics and customization of a simulation racinggame. This "neither here nor there" approach applies to all of Test Drive 6, a game that on thesurface is packed with features, most of which, on digging deeper, add nothing to gameplay. Play modes include single and groups of races where you wager money or your pink slip; cop chases whereyou try to pull over speeding cars; and two-player mode. The economic system by which players purchaseand upgrade cars seems out of place, and the game's graphics are merely passable. --Jeff Young Pros: Reviews (34)
Consequently, you get a game not likely to make anyone happy.Doesn't take advantage of the Dreamcast capabilities very well.Looks like a PS1 game. Pass on this one.
The only minor flaw in this game is the traffic. Sometimes when you a racing on the street, the traffic can be excessive and cause you to crash. Sometimes the traffic even swerves to hit you, causing you to crash or slow down a lot. Even though the traffic is a pain, this game is excellent and is a definate must have! ... Read more | |

Of course, being a DC game, I figured I had the game set on an easy difficulty level that only allowed access to several stages, but I read the manual and to my disbelief, that was the game in all of it's 5 stage glory!NOthing else here to extend the life of the game (save for some stupid boring cards you can earn showing various art from the game), Capcom just took the easy route and did a direct arcade port with few enhancments or additional levels. Two player mode makes the game even easier and shorter. Why did Capcom allow this game to come out for the DC?I have no idea...arcade purists will enjoy the short, but extrememly bullet-ridden game (the game is virtually blanketed by enemy bullets at times...a testament to the fact that is was an arcade-only game where constant continues are necessary to bring profit to the arcade owner), but I've played BETTER and LONGER shooters on every system dating back to the Atari 2600!5 stages just doesn't cut it and Capcom should have added to it! The few good points are: the game is 100% accurate to the arcade, the graphics are garish but good in a retro-arcadey kind of way, there's virtually no slowdown even during the heaviest bullet storms, and it's a good game for people who don't have a lot of time for gaming. That said, you'd be best served by getting Mars Matrix, another bullet-heavy short arcade-ported shooter, but one that has been somewhat expanded with various DC modes and a cool shop option where you get to buy upgrades and such to extend the life of the game.Gigawing is simply not worth the money.
There are several different planes to choose from, each with different standard weapons which can be upgraded via appropriate power-ups, but not a great deal of variety is added to the game because of this, because fighting your way to the end is really just a matter of using your reflect force at every opportunity and dropping bombs whenever the screen gets cluttered (which is just about all the time). You're given unlimited continues and when you use one you pick up at the exact same point you left off, so there's not much incentive to be careful where you fly or to deploy your bombs conservatively.Pretty much anyone can pick up this game and beat it on their first attempt with the proper amount of patience.Continuing will reset your score (which can be up to 16 digits) but most people won't want to put themselves through the frustration of finding the one square inch on the entire TV screen where it's safe to be when the enemies are bombarding you with gunfire from about a thousand different directions at once. In light of this criticism, my three-star rating may seem too high.Well, in spite of the simplistic gameplay and unremarkable graphics and sounds (not to mention the feeble Japanese-to-English translation), Giga Wing is sort of fun, at least for a while. It's mercifully short, and if you're not expecting a masterpiece of old-school 2-D shooting bliss, you may find some merit in it.Casual shooter fans are advised to pass it by;die-hards may want to break it out every once in a while, but chances are it won't hold too glorious a spot in their libraries.

Editorial Review Still, this game looks so darn cool, you can't resist playing it. The requisite tricks fromsnowboarding games are here, but this time they actually add important power-ups toyour repertoire, favoring function over, dare we say, style. To save yourself thefrustration of trying to consistently win races, you should enjoy this game by watchingthe screen while other more nimble or less leisure-time-deficient friends play. --JeffYoung Pros: Reviews (30)
