1-0 out of 5 stars Not a great choice...
I bought this game completely by chance at a buy-and-sell game store and it was a huge dissapointment. Nobody really expects anything from the old gameboy games anymore, but this one was particularly bad. It's kind of like Pak Man with less dots. It really shouldn't be classified as a RPG (it's a insult really). If you don't already own it, you're not missing anything. Keep your money and go buy a good RPG game. Like Golden Sun.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT an RPG! again this is NOT an RPG!!!!
i wish i could give this game a negitive rating! i bought this game for ... at KBtoys about a year ago thinking it would be a RPG like the quest for N64! It is not an RPG!!!!! its a stupid puzzle game identical as dig dug! if you like dig dug maybe you'll like this game! if you think its an RPG DO NOT BUY!!!!! also the price amazon is giving for this game is also not right! NINTENDO online store sell it for only ... they must have mixed this one up with the other QUEST called QUEST Brians jurney! that one "IS" an RPG! this one is just crap! be carefull! i warned you!

4-0 out of 5 stars The other remake
It is a good game with lots of monsters and magic. It gives you something to do for a long time. I want to get to all the levels thats why it takes me a long time. It is a little hard at first but once you get the hang of it you will go far in this game

4-0 out of 5 stars Gamer review
A lot of people think this game wasn't so good. But once you start playing it you can't put it down. This version is easier than the N64 version but still has the same basics. This is a very worthy RPG. Battle sequences area bit different than regular RPG's. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Cribbage point counting problem
I bought this game solely for the purpose of playing cribbage. I would like to warn serious players of an odd, to put it kindly, counting convention that the game employs.

The game scores a run of four as six points, rather than four points.

For example, 2345 is six points (treated as two runs of three, 234 and 345) rather than a run of 4 points. This isn't a programming glitch. The written instructions which explain scoring also handle it the same way.

Obviously for those who would score this hand as four points, the entire dynamic of the game is changed.

An additional quirk...the game does not score a flush!

But for these problem I found the game enjoyable to play.

I also recently purchased the hoyle card gameboy which contains a cribbage game. The hoyle cribbage game is much more simplistic and tougher on the eyes, but it does appear to score properly. The cool hand game on the other hand has three playing levels, a help feature which will choose your crib discards (this feature is not available when you choose the expert level as far as I can tell),and you can choose various types of cribbage games (eg. seven card).

5-0 out of 5 stars Solitaire addicts beware!
Although I only knew how to play one type of solitaire I bought this GB game assuming that I'd just play that one type.Boy, I was wrong.

There are 4 styles of solitaire to choose from! The instructions read like amedical text, but using the "hint" option and a little practiceI've learned to play Klondike, Calculation, Elevens, and Monte Carlo.Whatfun!

There are also options to play BlackJack and Cribbage, but I'm tooaddicted to solitaire to give those games a try.I guess that means I'llhave two games waiting when I get sick of solitaire (like that'spossible!).

Be warned, though, the music is AWFUL.Luckily there is anoption to turn the music OFF.

Enjoy and happy gaming! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Winnie the Pooh has enjoyed a surprise resurgence in popularitylately--and thus it should come as no surprise that this quaint GameBoy release has emerged as a sleeper hit for the handheld system.Everybody loves Winnie the Pooh--and the masterminds behind this gameknow it. Pooh is packed with games aimed mostly at youngerplayers.

Players start by picking from one of seven characters including Tigger,Eeyore, Rabbit, and Piglet. Start in your character's house and explorea huge world, complete with hidden paths. Along the road, you'llencounter friends who will give you cards, which you can use whenplaying board games. Other cards, like the seedling card, can beplanted and nourished with water-can cards.

Besides games like catching acorns and exercising, characters will faceadventures, such as Pooh rescuing Piglet from a waterfall. Thecompleted adventures then become part of players' storybooks to berelived again. The games are simplistic and usually a matter of movingfrom space to space, but it all adds up to an entertaining package, especially for young children. But we won't tell anyone if you are abit older. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Fun cast of characters
  • Games are simple yet fun
Cons:
  • Older kids will tire of its elementary nature

2-0 out of 5 stars A Mild Walk Through the 100 Acre Woods
If you're into sitting with your young one when he plays this game, you'll both enjoy it.There's lots to read; the characters don't speak, so if your child hasn't mastered reading, he won't really know the rules of the games he plays.

My son and I played it long enough to get far into the 100 Acre Woods, then we turned off the game.It saved where we left off, but when we started the game again, we had to read the prompts when Pooh headed out of his house or we would've lost our saved game, so beware.I showed my six year old how to begin his saved game; if you press the "new adventure" selection, you're saved game is history.

Overall, I don't like this game because you can lose all that you complete within a click of a button. I didn't find the games too exciting, but my son seems to like them...at least for now.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too boring for my 7 year old!
I bought this game and a GameBoy system for my 7 year old daughter for her birthdaysince she really likes Winnie the Pooh. Unfortunately, she only played it a couple times, then begged me for a new game. Since then, she hasn't touched it and sticks to her Mario and Pokemon games. If you have a little one that you can sit with, read the text to and play together, then the game isn't bad. By the time your child can read well enough to play alone, though, he'd be bored. Buy this game only for littler gamers and only if you intend to play with them!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for younger kids
We bought this for our 4 yr old. He can hardly understand what to do with the amount of reading instructions involved. Even our 6 yr old was confused at times with the amount of reading involved. Both kids lost interest very quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Game Is Full Of Fun Surprises
I think this game is for anyone. It has fun board games and lots of things to explore.I loved Winnie the Pooh's house the most because you can decorate his house and read little stories you collect, and play mini games. This game is not too easy but not too hard.

2-0 out of 5 stars NO FUN AT ALL!
I bought this game for Christmas for my 5 year old daughter.Luckily I tried it out before the event and realized that it was not only very boring but also too difficult for a 5 year old level.Way too much reading involved my daughter could not have played this game without help. Also it's always the same boring activity (play a board game).I sold mine on e-bay and got my money back!Don't buy this one, it's not worth it.I gave it two stars because the graphics are nice. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
I bought this game for my 5 yr old daughters birthday, she's using it on a GBA she also got as a gift for her birthday. My 8 yr old has also tried this game on her GBC and she said it was the most fun she'd ever had with a game. Both of my daughters were thrilled to add this game to their collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Game
Dragon Tales: Dragon Wings can be frustrating at times, but can be fun all the same. I have to say the age recomendation is kinda off and should be for slightly older players, I even had a slightly hard time playing it on some of the levels! But there are many qualities to the game though. For instance it teaches a young child to follow directions to accomplish a goal, and teaches a child how to use a Gameboy Color. Some wonderful features about the game inculde choosing between Ord or Cassie as characters to control in the game. Also there are 3 levels of difficulty easy, medium, or hard depending on how skilled your child maybe, and for each level there are 3 kinds of trophies to get apon complishion of a level which are bronze, silver, and gold. With each new level your child learns more and more actions to do with the dragons and eventually they must use multiple tasks in a level to get the job done which lets them use what they have learned to do. Thank you for reading this review and I hope it may have helped you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as easy as you'd think
Cute games, but challenging even for adults. My boys don't play it often because it is tough.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dragon Tales: Dragon Wings
My 5yr old got just got his first game boy and I thought that this would be perfect for him. How disappointed we were. I wish I had read the other reviews before we wasted our money on this one. It was very difficult to move around..and even I had trouble trying to get to the other levels. Please spend your money on something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can Your Kid Read?
Our two kids (4 & 6) love the TV show Dragon Tails and were thrilled getting their fist Gameboy’s with one of the games being Dragon Wings. If your child can read at about a third or fourth grade level then they are candidates for this game.If they can’t read then don’t waste your money on this game. They will have more fun with your [price] if you throw it on the kitchen table with a box of crayons and let them color it!What a waste of money! The other reviews of Dragon Wings give you an excellent over view of this Gameboy game.Take their advice and pass on this on if you have little ones.Good idea, bad game. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the youngest players!
I bought this game for my 3 year old son and I was really pleased because it is a very simple game. There are 6 different sports, each with a different character. The game waits for your child to start by pushing the buttons and if he lets the buttons go, the game stops and waits. There are only very basic uses of the buttons -- jump, forward and back. The characters never die. There are some bonuses the player can get by manuvering or jumping as they are going down the course.Consequently, I rarely have to "rescue" my son out of a hard spot in the game where he can't figure out what to do next. It's a great beginner's game!

3-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
I excpected an Intense extreme adventure but instead I got Big Bird and the Gang, oh well its still the greatest GAME BOY GAME.

5-0 out of 5 stars Who needs Madden?
This game is obviously just as good as Madden 2002 and friendlier! This has just as much competition, it rocks!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for young gamers up to 5 or 6
NewKidCo is an excellent gaming company for the young kids that want to play the games they see their siblings playing and also for the parents that don't want to orient their young ones to violence and aggression. They have new products coming with E.T. as well as Little League baseball. ...
