Games not realistic!!
I played the tournament Texas Hold Em poker and there is no way you can get pass the second round. You can have 3 of kind, and the other player would have 4 of a kind. You can have a flush, 2 other players would have a straight flush. This is what it is like almost every hand. Anyone who plays poker knows you don't see that many good hands out there.
Blackjack is way to unrealistic. If you have a 20 and the dealer has a 5 face up, he seems to always to get a 6, then a 10 to get 21. I played 10 straight hands, the dealer had 4 blackjacks and 6 20's. That is almost impossible for a dealer to get that lucky. And if you see the dealer has a king faced up, just surrender unless you have 21 because the dealer ALWAYS has another king down.
If you want to learn how to play the game, you should get this, but if you already know how to play, don't buy this, it is a waste of money!

I bought this game for under $10 bucks which also included shipping.For that price, You can't lose!I was reading the reviews for Hoyle Casino 2004 which had all the worse reviews I've seen yet.The reason I bought Hoyle casino 2003 instead of the 2004 version is the fact that there really isnt much a difference.Plus with the 2003. I can play without having the cd in my drive. Which is a BIG PLUS! I was hoping to see if the Texas hold'em tournaments were gonna be like the world poker tour.SADLY ENOUGH IT'S NOT. They dont have a NO LIMIT game.It would of been exciting to go all in and see if anyone or a computer match it. But still can't knock sierra just yet.Because it is still fun.I want to try out the new drink system but only if they improve two minor issues.One: They have a no limit texas hold'em tournament and Two: CD optional if people want it in the drive. If you are in the market for a casino game.Get this version because you would save money.But still waiting to see what newer version will bring.So if Hoyle casino 2005 comes out.I'm reading reviews before I buy.Don't want to make the mistake by buying the 2004 version.

Hoyle's Casino 2003 - Best Ever
I recently purchased this from Amazon and received a manual along with it that I find very helpful as I'm new to Poker and Blackjack.The characters are so realistic and it's fun to listen to their conversations.
The first time I clicked on the AutoPlay screen to start playing I could hear sound but my screen went black. I have Windows XP Home Edition with DirectX 9.0. I was sure this was the latest version of DirectX, but when I went to Microsoft's Help & Support Center, on the list was the question did the screen go black. I then went to Microsoft.com and found there was an update called DirectX 9.0B. It took a little over 30 minutes to download this version. When I clicked Play on the AutoPlay Screen this time, the place where you hear what seems to be a frog croaking, it worked fine.
When some of the reviewers blame Hoyle for problems it could be Microsoft has an update that will make everything go smoothly. Hoyle creates extremely clever games and I'm very happy I bought this CD. The only games that can even compete with this are the Bicycle Card and Board Games which I also own. None of the other Casino games can even begin to compare to Hoyle's Casino 2003 in my opinion.

Lot's of fun and good practice
The table games are great and the play is very realistic. The players voices are a turn-off after a while so I play with the sound off. It is a great way to sharpen your skills before a trip to Vegas or AC. I had never played Pai Gow Poker but I learned from this software and look forward to trying it in a casino. The craps and roulette are fun too. I don't play slots in a casino so I don't use the slots on this either.Overall I think this is a good buy for some fun on the PC.

Fun Game
Very nice game. Graphics are well done.Facemaker is fun, and it uses the face I created in Card games without me having to tell it to go find it.The table games are well done, the speed of play is easily adjusted, graphics and audio are clear and crisp.There are so many gmes it is difficult to tire of this game.The slots could be a tad better, in that none of them are copies of real machines.Also the "feel" while playing them is not quite right.They are certainly playable though, as these faults are minor.I gave 4 stars out of 5, because the characters comments get annoyingly redundant very quickly.Of course, you can turn the character speech off if you want. ... Bad Software
Couldn't get to load on my XP-Pro System. Crashed my computer every time I tried something to get it to load.When I called the number for tech support, I was told that the free tech support expired and I'd have to pay for help. NEVERMIND! I returned software for refund.

GREAT FOR THE KIDS
I got a new computer, and the old games didn't work with it, so bought this.My granddaughter loves to play Go Fish when she comes over,and she was ticked to death to see I bought it for the new computer. I enjoy playing Euchre myself, so these games get a lot of use.

Hoyle Card Games 2003
Euchre:
I basically play euchre when my phone line is tied up.Otherwise I play on Yahoo!

Overall, Hoyle isn't too bad, but I find that even on the "advanced" setting, your partner is too timid, mostly by failing to lead trump on your call or order.However, they often order up from first with 2 bowers and no support, when they could have had 3 or 4 trump by passing for "next".

Also, 1st chair never donates.

Unrealistic loners, the computer often takes trick 1 with trump or off Ace, and properly leads the Right, but then leads offsuit to give the opps a chance to stop the loner.Even when holding JJ9, AK.

Pinochle:

In viewing the meld, you gain additional information that can be used later in the gameplay.The computer never makes use of this.Say your P in double-deck has 3 aces of diamonds (which you only know after the fact) and you make diamonds trump with a run (so the computer should know you have the 4th ace).You lead the Qd.Your P should play the 10 of diamonds and lead back at least 2 ace of diamonds before playing other suits.

Also, in the bidding, if you are in a game to 3550 and both teams have around 3000, you cannot count on your P to bid even if you have no marriage yourself.This is very frustrating because you now have to bid a lot more.I think it is so the player can have the glory, but I want the computer to play with the understanding that you must bid to win.

Canasta, Go Fish, Old Maid, You Name It!
The Hoyle Card Games are really great! There are many characters you can play against in the different games, with different personalities. The facemaker isn't as great as some other Hoyle Games, but I got used to the difference quickly. The only other negative is that only one person can play the gamesat a time, because otherwise you could see each other's cards. This is a really great game, though! I give it a thumbs up!

Hoyle Card Games 2003
I am satisfied with most games except for Bridge, the main reason I made the purchase. The players take far too long to respond and even longer to play their cards. It is so bad that I never even play bridge!
In hearts, the players make inappropriate comments when playing the queen of spades.
In gin rummy, you don't get a good look at the cards when the game is over.
Overall, the older versions are better for both the games and the characters. I look forward to reviews for the 2004 version to see if there is any improvement before I think of buying it! ... Read more

It knows what you have in your hand!
This game is OK for the basics, but don't expect anywhere near a real experience here. I can't tell you how many times I get beat on the last card, with just one higher card, say a 9 high to my 8 high. Always with only one card higher! That's not real. Plus, too many of the players are idiots, while a few are otherworldly lucky. It's nothing close to a random draw, and that's what you need for a real experience.

Beware this outdated software
This software is designed to run on a monitor at 640x480 resolution.This means that if you are using a relatively new computer (less than 5-6 years old) your resolution is probably greater than 640x480.If so, the game area will not fill your screen, rather it will shrink depending on how high your resolution is.The window you are running in will fill the screen, but Sierra fills the space not used by the shrinking game area with black.My monitor is a couple of years old, but was designed to run at 1280x1024.The actual game area uses about the center 1/3 of the screen.The card backs on the Solitaire are so small I have to strain to read them.I guess you could change your screen resolution before you play and then change it back afterwards, but that makes the game too much trouble for me.It is a shame too, because the games are quite good (probably 4 stars) if you can see them.

Not very Mac OSX-friendly . . .
Not sure how this package of games works on a PC, but is is not very Mac OSX-friendly, from what I can tell.(It is listed as Mac friendly, but I suspect it is probably more PC-oriented.)There are no drop-down menus, and finding instructions for the numerous games - - when there are some - - is not easy, either.The printed materials are virtually useless for this purpose, also.Finally, it seems to be fickle about whether it will let you add players.In short:the CD has dozens of games you can play; but if you are unfamiliar with the game's rules or objects, you wind-up having to try to figure it out for yourself.All-in-all, this CD is a letdown and not what one would expect from Hoyle.

There IS an Undo Feature
I almost didn't buy it because other reveiws said the game lacked an undo feature.Perhaps in older editions, but the one I bout last week has an undo for every game I've tried so far.

This game is tremendously varied.It will take months of steady play to go through every game once.The MaJong tiles even have an option where you can design your own layouts, if you ever get tired of the ones they have.

And you can decide to play with someone elso, too!I'm glad I've got it (although it may take more of my time than it should!)

Don't Make The Same Mistake I Did...
When we switched from a Mac system to a PC system,I needed to replace the Eric's Ultimate Solitaire that I had enjoyed on the former system.Because Eric's isn't available, I replaced it with Sierra's Hoyle Solitaire and Mahjong Tiles, the best I thought available. Boy was I wrong!Sierra's Hoyle Solitaire DOES NOT HAVE FEATURES/OPTIONS that are available on other software (not only Eric's Ultimate):

NO "AUTOPLAY", so every card must be clicked and dragged even when winning is definite;
NO "RETRY GAME" - you get one chance and that's it;
NO "HINTS";
"UNDO" is good for only one play;
NO "FLYING CARDS" option.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a solitaire game and don't make the same mistake I did.

Misleading
The description on the back of the box reads "Omar Sharif Bridge II offers a game of intricate deliberation, skill and chance for the novice and expert".

I can't decide whether they were talking about the game or the interface to the game.With each click, I hoped that something may happen in the game, but the program just dumped me back out to Windows.The 3D-interface is non-intutive, and overkill for a simple card game.

The box reads "Master card champion Omar Sharif shows you how to improve your game and takes you through the bids."For having a world bridge experts name on the box, one would think that the game would come with a tutorial on how to play the game or an interactive helper but the game fails to provide even this.

inflexible
This game is high on video effects but low on player flexibility..I found it difficult to set the game to my playing style and difficult to review a game once playedbeyond the chart given at the end of the game.This inflexibility, along with meager explanations of conventions used, makes it hard to learn from. Besides this, the cards for the dummy are small (in perspective across the table) and in a shadow, with spades and clubs frequently adjacent (as with hearts and diamonds) so that it is easy to misplay -- and there is no way to correct misplays.The tremendous need for computer power is also a problem. I am ordering Bridge Baron.

Specification warning
From the first review item for this product, I can see that they had a problem running the game satisfactorily. The minimum spec for this game is a 700MHz PIII with a DirectX 16meg video card. With this spec, or better, it runs very nicely. This game is designed to combine the latest AI with within a full 3D environment, with fully rendered rooms, cards and 3D lighting. In this respect it is outstanding. If you do not have a PC with this spec, then you should buy a different product. I notice that Gamespot fail to give the minimum requirements. Anyone who bought this product and found their PC did not meet the minimum spec must be entitled to return the product, as Gamestop failed to give the minimum spec (a complaint has been issued to them).

Powerful new 3D interactive game
This 3D game is terrific on my new XP machine with a wonderful set of rooms to play in. There is a comfortable home room, aspacious club hall and a championship venue - all quite realistic. Best of all is that the game can be tailored to play at a variety of levels, with different characteristic play styles, so you don't get board with the same old computer play style that other games have. There is also an internet play option, so I can play my club friends. I would have given this 5 stars, but it seems you can only play one other person on the internet version with the remaining 2 seats occupied by the computer characters. It would have been better if all 4 seats could be played by humans.
You need to watch out for the minimum computer specification as its quite high, requiring a 800MHz machine and a decent graphics card with 16MBytes, however my son laughed at this and said that the spec was so low that cavemen had better computers!
Overall I am delighted with the game and it has given me hours of pleasure.

OMAR SHARIF BRIDGE II
Unless you have a new, very fast and powerful computer, this game either won't load or will play so slowly, you won't want to play it.Gamestop will not allow a return on already opened games, either.It seems the graphics take up so much memory, you can do much better buying Bridge Baron, which I later purchased and am very happy with it. ... Oh my Gosh!
This game is so cool. I love Phantom EFX, and they outdid themselves big time with this game. The tournemets are a blast and the games are top notch. All of Shufflemaster's biggest table games are here (I love 3 card poker), and some cool new slots as well. Check this one out and be prepared to play for hours! If you need new slots, so to their website and download a new slot every month. It's worth it.

Pretty to look at - Terrible to play.
Simply put, this game has more bugs than the Amazon jungle.Basic bets, like craps place 6/8 for $6 pays $6 on this game, the odd are 6 pays 7; Unable to make place bets on craps working or off, etc.I sent Phantom a laundry list of their issues and was informed that nothing is wrong with the game.

Moral of the story, this company is based in Iowa.They clearly have no clue about casino gaming rules.I suggest they stick with corn and soybeans, and everybody else find a program that is accurate to the rules of the games.

Great Game!
This was kinda strange how i ran accross this one, i had never heard of it before and i bought a bundle from my supplier (i am a seller) and there were 2 of these in the bundle so i listed them and they both sold the same day, i thought it was odd, so i purchased 5 more from my supplier and sold them in a matter of days and so on, well i had never played this game before so i decided to keep one for myself and played it, sure enough this game is extremly FUN and everyone is right addicting! In a very good way too! My family is now wanting to play this all the time!
So if you want to purchase one i would definatly recommend it!

Long-time Slingo Fan
I've been a fan of Slingo for years. First playing it on AOL, then buying the hand-held game (not as fun as either AOL's version or the PC version).Recently I bought the PC version and really enjoy the different games, so much so that I no longer play it on AOL.It's a fun, addictive, simple little game that everyone in my family from my 6 year old on up enjoy.

Very Addictive Game
I've been a Slingo fan for a long time, this version is wonderful. It has enough options to keep your interest for a very long time. I read another review that said it will not work with Windows ME.They were WRONG. I am running win 98 on my desktop & ME on my notebook.It works great on both.ME does have a problem with Direct X, you have to get version 8.1 for it to work properly.This can be downloaded from the Windows Download site.This other review also said the on-line features did not work.I have not tried to play thru the internet yet, but I have a wireless network in my home and following the TCP/IP directions we have no problem playing across the network. I have had NO PROBLEMS at all, this is a great game, that is worth every penny of it's price.

Not worth it - buy something else
I bought this software because I like to practice gambling strategies on my computer before I go to Las Vegas.With a name like IGT backing it I figured it to be great.It's not even up to pathetic.The slots portion is less than great and pay outs cannot be real even after their patch.It's useless for trying to figure strategies.Since it is IGT the displays look authentic but who cares about that?

The video poker is mediocre and you would be much better getting some of the other products (Ex. Bob Dancer's program) that reflect a more accurate card strategy.

My biggest gripe is with the blackjack.The maximum bet is limited to $1000 which eliminates a few different strategies.The help/betting windows are glued to one area on the field making it VERY inconvenient to move them out of the way and the speed at which the hands are played makes it nearly impossible to see what happened.If your eyes are glued to the fast card turning of the dealer, you have no idea of the result.Speed control or atleast results viewing is on the cheapest of software, but these people decided to omit it all.The online strategy cards are fine, but you can buy them for a couple bucks from most gambling supply stores.

I hate the fact that I have to leave the CD in my drive even though I have plenty of room on my hard drive to store all the needed files, but I guess they are afraid that someone will buy one copy and give the original to their friends.The vendor needs to get over themselves because the product isn't that great that people would want to steal it.

Just to be fair, I put it way for a few months to see if I was judging it unfairly.I have to say that I dislike it more, now that I know what's out there for competition.

I won't say that this is complete junk, but you'd think with a name like IGT backing the product it would at least be user friendly. ... Read more

Cardoza's 500 slots ...
This product is worse than going to the real casino.
It pays off a high percent of time at a rate of 2 for 3.
Giving it a claim of a high percent of pays. I don't call 2 for 3 a pay. You very seldom get a serious pay-off from this product.It comes up a loss for me. There are more like 50 different slots than 500. You get the same slots over and over at a different play scale ( $1.00,$5.00,.25, .10, $1000), but the play scale does not influence the pay rate. You can play for hours and never get a win over 50 coins. Hours is an exageration because you run out of money (can borrow up to $4,000 at any one sitting)quickley no matter what denomination you use, .10, $1.00 it doesn't matter. Playing the max amount ( what else would you do)with returns of 2 for 3 or 3 for 5 is a bummer. I would not even try to re-sell my disk to an unsuspecting buyer it is so bad. If this is an example of Cardoza's products I can only say to the public "Caveat Emptor".

OK, but No Cigar
I got this one looking for an improvement from the original. Why do I always do that? There are some new games, but mostly it's the same old stuff. The biggest kicker that sends this to the "I'll play this game once a month" pile is that none of these machines are authentic. There are 2 enjoyable bonus slots (Sweet Dreams, which I've never hit the bonus game yet, and Maze, which I have). There's also a bonus VP game called The Wheel Deal. They tried. I would recommend this to someone who hasn't gone to a casino yet, otherwise, it could be annoying.

As far as the video poker portions are concerned, I am so addicted that I am buying the game for a relative.I have a huge bankroll and can easily make $1-2000 in a couple of hours!I love the games to the point I have to force myself to stop sometimes.I don't do as well with the slots but never did in Vegas either.I wish I could parlay my bankroll into real cash!There do seem to be some defects within the game program itself.For example, one night, whenever I got a full house, the game only recognized three of a kind.That only happened once though.Another time, the "expert" gave the same advice all evening as if he were on automatic pilot.Lastly, there is one game in particular that gives me an error message every other day and promptly kicks me out of the casino.If I open the game file again, I can avoid this problem by playing a different game for about five rounds.Otherwise, I LOVE this game and highly recommend it!

This could be a great casino game if it had been made fun to play. It is very hard to get a winning play. Payouts are very small.It took me well over 2000 credits to get on the second sreen of sweet dreams.Home games should be fun. Real casinos offer you more wins than this one does. A bargain if you find it
Like I did.Actually you get two bonus games with it; Masque Blackjack and Spanish 21; a form of Blackjack.

The game itself is great, and makes a good supplement to other single play video poker machine games.Sound, graphics and game play is of the usual high quality from Masque.The best thing on this game is the Spin Poker, really great, totally unique, as I have never seen an actual machine in the slot parlors. Worth it for this alone.

Word of warning:

I just received notification from Masque that they are upgrading their original Slots game (which is the IGT machines) to look and play like the Slots 2, and Bally Slots standards.IN ADDITION, this new software wil contain the Multiplay Poler, Black Jack and Spanish 21 games.
