5-0 out of 5 stars Very above average! Good gameplay.
This game is extremely enjoyable if you've played N64. The courses are varied and offer challenge and make the player concentrate. Some courses are very hard and nearly unbeatable if one doesn't memorize them, as I do. In my personal opinion, it is an honor for an amateur to place 4th in the Amateur podracing circuit. It is even more so if they place 7th in the Galactic and Invitational circuits. So, it is pretty fair. All the podracers to choose from are top notch, but the best armor and durability goes to a player named Gasgano. (If you disagree, there are many choices) This is the player I use the most on the more advanced courses. If you are a beginner, go with Anakin Skywalker.
Go buy this game if you like good, technical fare.

4-0 out of 5 stars a good game
the graphic a below advage for dreamcast but the game play fun and different form other raceing games because you have to find the quickiest route .Your pod take on damage and boosting is fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible game
Nothing is good about this game. The graphics are dull, the soundtrack is bad and over that the game's too boring.Don't understand what LucasArts are tryin' to prove by making such silly games.Don't blow your money away on this one. It's no use.

Editorial Review

One hundred years from now, a historian may categorize snowboarding's greatest achievementas its expansion of the English vocabulary. For its part, snowboarding has brought new meanings to thewords "indy," "mute," "method," and "melancholy." For those not attuned to the sport's phat lingo, theseare all terms for snowboarding maneuvers that generally refer to grabbing a particular part of the boardwhile airborne. Not a word of this terminology is overlooked in the first snowboarding game for theDreamcast. Also included are appropriately stylized characters, each with two outfits to choose from, andlicensed gear from real snowboarding companies Bonfire and Salomon.

Armed with a glossary in the form of a user manual, players will soon be able to talk the talk. But in thisgame, walking the walk, or rather pulling the tricks, requires quite a bit of controller dexterity. Luckily thegame is not based solely on snowboarding tricks, but also has a healthy dose of racing at its core. Whatmakes this game stand out is the length and detail of each downhill course. Jumping off the roof of sheepfarms, avoiding falling icicles, and catching the spotlight of a hovering helicopter are all in a day's play inRippin' Riders--and that's just the first track!

A unique two-player mode challenges players to shrink the opponent's split screen by outscoring him orher. Track graphics are up to snuff, but the players look a bit chunky. --Jeff Young

Pros:

  • Outstanding course design with plenty of details and multiple checkpoints
  • Groovy outfits and snowboards for each character
Cons:
  • Many of the tricks are difficult to execute
  • You never see other racers on the course, except in multiplayer mode

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Fun...Too Bad About Dreamcast....
This game was really fun.I myself love the Dreamcast system, too bad it didnt do too well. This game has definately been overshadowed by the "SSX" series for Playstation 2, which I admit is better, but this game was really fun.It has cool tracks, fun characters, and is overall a fun game to play.My favorite character is defiantely Bob the Rastafarian. This is a really fun and awesome game, with pretty good graphics. It's pretty easy to play also.Too bad this game and Dreamcast didn't do as well as they should have, but you can still get this game and Dreamcast at Amazon and other places.Check them out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun for a while
Now that the Dreamcast has gone on permanent vacation, one of the things it will be remembered most for is it's awesome sports library.Rippin' Riders is not one of those games however, but it's clearly not a bad game either.UEP Systems, the developers behind the Cool Boarders series, seem to have been on a time budget to put this game together.Graphics are super smooth and look great, while the sound effects have very nice touches here and there, but control is a major issue. Not to mention now and then you'll run into a wall that came out of nowhere and it costs you valuable time to figure out what direction to go in when you get back up.Plus, after you unlock everything between hidden tracks to hidden characters and boards, there is really nothing else exciting to do in the game. All in all, Rippin' Riders isn't really a bad game, but the last time I checked it is the only pure snowboarding game for the Dreamcast, and that alone makes it worth checking out.

1-0 out of 5 stars BOREING!!!!!!!!!!!
Boreing game, good graphics but cheesey cources, characters are civilians with weird clothes on, can beat the game in 5 minutes, super easy, I bought for [X]and would no let me return, DON'T WASTE YOUR $MONEY$ BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!! BE SMART!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good for people who love snowboarding
When I first rented the game I loved it almost as Sonic Adventure, a very good game, the only problem with it is you can't grind. Besides that, this is one of the best snow boarding games you can get. If you like pulling a Misty 900 Method in a Super Half Pipe than this is the game you will want for your dreamcast.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool new game!
This game has cool graphics and funky tricks. In some of the courses, they need more lighting. You can hardly see where you're going. When that happens, you run into walls and get stuck and not even a jump can get you going again. It's an okay game. ... Read more
