Arc 1 is pretty short. You could finish it in about 10-15 hours (20+ if you do all the side quests), but it's still a lot of fun. Arc 2 continues the great story, and is a whole lot longer. You could spend anywhere from 50-100 hours on Arc 2. And finally, Arc 3. They took the job system from Arc 2 and made it the main part of Arc 3. Although not as serious, and more lighthearted, than the other games in the series, Arc 3 is still pretty fun. My favorite is Arc 2, then 1, and finally 3, but they all provide hours of fun and entertainment. Also included is Arc Arena, which allows you to fight other monsters with monsters you capture in Arc 2. This was kind of fun, but I didn't really get into it. The packaging comes with a hardcover instruction booklet (over 100 pages), a memory card holder, a "Making of Arc the Lad Collection" cd, and more. If you're a fan of strategy/rpg's, don't miss out!
Arc The Lad II is better than Arc the Lad, and yes I have beaten it (for that reviewer who claimed not very many people have beaten it). The spells look better than Arc the Lad and you get to capture monsters and have them join your team. A complaint I have about the monsters is they cannot equip armor and so cannot keep up with your human party members. But with monster Arena you can fight with your friends (assuming you don't spend all your time on Amazon and do have friends) with your monster and so still keeping them up on levels is pretty important. This game is tougher than the first, it has more puzzles and tougher enemies plus the level you can level up to is insane (I have no idea what the max is but it is over 150). This game introduces the Hunter's Guild to Arc the Lad lovers where you take up jobs and go after wanted monsters all for money. Most of the cast from Arc the Lad joins up with your party and you can fight with them, if you've beaten Arc the Lad you can use convert and your characters from Arc the Lad will be at the same level with the same weapons you last left them at. The transition between games is extremely smooth thumbs up to this game! Sometimes the battles do get annoying but bare with it man... it's a good game, now shut your complaining. I must admit I haven't beaten Arc the Lad III , so I think I'm entitled to my opinion about this one. Man I love the character Lutz but everyone is so mean to him, Alec (the hero) is suppose to be his best friend and yet he joins the others in picking on him they should realize that Lutz kicks all their [butts] and they should shut up cause he's the best character... Ahhh that felt sooo good Ok. enough about my Lutz raving. The game is better than the other ones. You meet a lot of the cast from the first and second game but it's rare for you to fight along side them, none of them join your party. But that's ok cause you fight with Tosh for a while (he's not at the same level I left him on GRRRRRRR) The plot revolves more around the Hunter's Guild than the second one and you're introduced to other Guilds.... Not sure if I like the other guilds or not I rarely use them but hey if you like that type of thing I guess. The magic looks good and now instead of capturing monsters you turn them into cards where they'll do one move and disappear, hey I'm not complaining I think it looks pretty cool myself. Anyways this game is awesome with the awesome battle system all the Arc the Lads have... So great stuff here... Did I mention Lutz is awesome? Overall Arc the Lad satisfied me especially its battle system. The Arc the Lad series (though I haven't played the fourth one) flows together better than any video game series I've ever played.
Arc the Lad 1: Great game. Really short. But really fun, after you play it once it isn't as great, but still I loved the battles and the 2d graphics worked great. Arc the Lad 2: Ok its got alot more in it. You can change your weapons, more spells, tons of characters, monsters to control, yet sadly fails. The reason being? Noone actually plays to the end. Most of these people reviewing probably haven't gotten to the second half of the game. The first part is great. Then the battles start to get more frequent. The third part is enormously filled with meaningless battles, one after another. Then we reach the final areas. Tons of battles in which the reward is a new plot twist, you now must go to some random town and enter a doom tower filled with 30 levels of battling fun! Ok so you beat the tower, then split up in some ice area, 2 groups, thousands of battles. So you reach the final dungeon(s). Ok you walk up some stone blocks... now your going to HAVE to fight 5 consecutive battles in a row. Then go into this place and search for like 5 switches or something, it wasn't clear. I fought 4 battles going into a house and coming out, then realized there was nothing in there. I walked up to it, entered battle, went inside and battled, entered a room to find nothing, left the room and battled, went outside and battled. In these battles you are outnumbered. You just use your magic and take them down in about 3 hits. The magic starts to get real annoying after you see it thousands of times. Ok so you find the switches, guess what, you have to go into this creepy lair and fight some bosses, great. Overall the game really slumps. Most of the reviews here just say that arc the lad 2 has more then arc the lad 1 and is better. Sure arc the lad 2 starts great, but I am WARNING you, you will probably just stop caring by the end. Arc the Lad 3: I got to the final dungeon and quit in arc the lad 2, then arc the lad 3 was popped in. I did not load my data because, well, I never finished arc2 to the dead end. So you basically are a hunter. The Cast seems dry compared to the original. Still the 3d seems appropriate, because most games are 3d now. It isn't better then what you can find anywhere else. Just go play a game like final fantasy 7 or legend of dragoon and you will be more satisfied. But arc the lad 3 seems kind of a blend of arc1 and arc2, with some today standards thrown in. Arc the Lad Monster Arena: Pointless, you load in some monsters from arc the lad 2. I used a monster throught the whole game in arc2, yet the monster was still 10 levels behind all my other characters. Monsters are pointless, you have like 30 different good characters to choose from. This game just has some battles, and buying of stuff. Don't worry about it. Extra: The book is kinda cool, considering its hardback. The little stand things are not really needed. The memory card holder will probably never be used. But the analog covers seems kinda okay, but feel weird. The making of the games is not really a blast either, its just showing you how they do stuff that you will never be able to do. Overall the games are not that satisfying. If arc1 was released alone for like 15 dollars I would get it. But it is really short. So do not spend your money on this product. Borrow it from a friend, play arc1, then return it. ... Read more

Einhander has one thing the others don't: bells and whistles. It's got multiple ship models, neon lighting effects, nominally interactive background elements, and obsessive attention to fine graphical detail.(Actually, this sounds like pretty much any recent Square game.)The visuals are startlingly slick, but conceptually really pretty boring.Ok, Einhander sports an ultra-cool "cyber-punk" vigilante nightlife theme, which really is borrowed straight from FFVII, which is in turn really just stolen from Blade Runner, isn't it? So, the graphics are extraordinarily polished.Very flashy. So what else? The sound is average. The opening level has a niceoperatic techno aria (very elegant), but after that the music just fades to the background. It's lame soft trance junk, but it really doesn't matter so much since it's drowned out by explosions most of the time. The explosions and other sound effects are acceptable, but really not very notable.Occasionally there's some command recited over the PA in German, and that's fairly unique. But nothing too exciting. The gameplay is strictly linear, and in this neo-classical shooter context that's fine. The emphasis is on reflex, not exploration.Again, the levels are very detailed and I suppose well designed, but the Philip K. Dick urban battlefield motif is a bit tiresome. There are lots of mechanized little pieces of robots and tanks and hangars and factories, and well THINGS that have little details to impress and wow the player. It's all very well done, but with little imagination.Enemies are mostly utility/military contraptions reminiscent of Aliens vehicles. They're all finely detailed, with no real surprises. The bosses are more of the same.Only bigger, madder, and with guns on top of guns on top of guns. Speaking of guns, the weapons system is pretty cool in theory, but not really very unique in practice. You blow up a ship, it leaves its gunpod behind. You pick up the gunpod and use it until it runs out or you get another gunpod.Ok, it sounds cool scavenging parts from demolished machines, but it's really no different from picking up a little shiny powerup bubble left behind an explosion. The guns themselves are varied and pretty cool, my favorite being a light saber fixed on your nose that's pretty much indestructable. But otherwise it's standard stuff:spreaders, seekers, bombs, etc...All of this also relates to which ship you choose at the game's beginning, since different ships have different gunpod mount/laser cannon combinations. So the game is not by any means bad. It's very good, actually, but it is without a doubt overhyped. It's beautiful to look at, but in the end not really all that fun. It's a 'retro' title thatplays by the rules of modern gaming: make it big, beautiful, and cinematic, and the uninspired gameplay will go unnoticed.Fans of the genre should definitely give Einhander a shot. But those ready for more, here are the alternatives:G. Darius for imagination and sheer fun factor, R-Type Delta for strategic challenge, Thunder Force V for a more retro feel, or either of the Ray series for top-down vertical blasting.
The Einhander ship is a blue, jet-propelled weapons-handler that looks similar to a butterfly. The reason it's called Einhander? It has gunpods."Einhander" in German means "one hand."In addition to its mounted machine gun, it has gunpods capable of taking on up to three special weapons.A few of these:Wasp, a compact and effective guided-missile launcher, Vulcan, a gatling gun capable of extreme rates of projectile discharge, and a devestating cannon. This is a game you have to see for yourself.Unfortunately, I haven't seen it at any local video stores, but you can trust my words:This game is worth it.Buy it, borrow it, whatever.Give this game a try. ... Amazon.com Review In the game, wild Digimon are attacking the city, and you've been drafted tojoin the guards to fight, capture, and "digivolve" them. You're armed with anifty creature vehicle called a Digi-Beetle, and you'll adventure throughseveral midsize dungeons looking for, subduing, and ultimately capturingrampaging Digimon creatures. After you get them, you can trade them or mergethem with your Digi-Beetle to give yourself new powers and abilities. Forexample, such a merging might increase your defense or attack power so you canexplore more dungeons and capture more Digi-monsters. There is a paper-thinquest and story to unravel, but it's the new powers and abilities that'll keepyou playing. Perhaps the worst of the rampaging monsters this game offers is the curse ofsameness. There are 30 dungeons and you'll face hordes of monsters, but thevariety wears thin because the dungeons all look alike. Another problem is thatthe graphics are muddy and fail to fully capitalize on the aging PlayStation'scapabilities. Fortunately, fans will still enjoy taming and capturing thecreatures. --Andrew S. The EPsucks. I was so close to the koritermon booss, that culd spit on him but Since I didn't have enough eP to move on I culdn't beat him. So i had to upgrade My EP by the mechanic. The max Ep you can have is 500. When you visit the Medatation Dome, talk to angemon and he will give you 2000 bits.

Given the target audience, I think the difficulty level is appropriate and even challenging at times. This comes from the fact that the controls are very different from ordinary games, though they are perfect for this one. The buttons are used merely to switch between your many devices rapidly while all game controls actually are executed with the 2 joysticks. It works quite well once you get used to it. It also requires a bit of puzzle-solving and critical thinking for young children to determine which device is best for a specific job. The main point is that the game is just plain fun to play. The action is fact-paced but not stress-inducing. The presentation is refreshing. The graphics are good but nothing stellar. A key is that the big bosses are very funny and novel. Who but the Japanese could present as a major enemy a petite, karaoke-singing monkey girl who grows enraged after you disrupt her chance at stardom? Others are equally zany. Honestly my kids (5&9) love this game and revisit it often. My son often plays the Monkey Soccer mini-game even when he doesn't want to play the normal game; and it's knid of cool that the only monkeys that you can add to your roster are monkeys that you have already captured in the real game. My daughter loves the Dance Monkey Dance mini-game. Rare to find a game that girls and boys enjoy equally like this one. Highly recommended for kids... not good for teens or more edgy audiences.

Editorial Review This title has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. Unlike some action games, in Spyro the Dragon the enemies are more fun than frightening. In the Peace Keepers world, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon. Spyro's movements (fire breathing, gliding, jumping, and climbing) require entry-level gaming skills. For this reason, Spyro the Dragon is an excellent title for youngsters or less experienced players, who want to play without having to master complex movement combinations. --Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (128)

Riven is a thinking puzzling game if you like to be confused to the point you dont know what to do then it hits you and you know what you have to do this was made for you. Riven is a five disk game and its length mainly depends on how fast you can put things together, so dont be intimidated by the 5 disks. Althought Riven is the sequel to myst you can play it without playin myst first. I would suggest playing Myst first thought to learn the storyline. But if you havent played Myst, Riven is still a game that is worth having. See if you can solve the puzzle...... ... Read more

The story was actually very interesting in this game. I don't think X, Zero, and the "Irregular Hunters" were actually in the right. You seem almost like tyrants in this game and even more so in the next game. If a reploid has his own ideas then... At any rate, this is the last great 2D Mega Man game. I highly recommend it. The Megaman Legends games are really funny in their own weird way, but it's not the same as good old fashioned Mega Man.

Amazon.com Product Description Spyro the Dragon has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. In the Peace Keepers World, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon. Spyro: Ripto's Rage improves on the original with superior controls, more colorful and faster graphics, a tighter story, achievable goals, and plenty of gameplay variety. Spyro: Year of the Dragon invites you to jump down the rabbit hole to recover all the eggs stolen from Dragon World by the evil sorceress and her henchmen. It has the cartoonish look, goofy sounds, and scavenger-hunt gameplay of the other two titles. New to the series is the ability to play as Sheila, the kangaroo; Sergeant Byrd, the flying penguin; Bentley, the yeti; and Agent 9, the space monkey. Features Reviews (4)
Just let me start out by saying these are the most fun and challenging platforming games I own, and that includes all the Crash Bandicoots. The graphics are great and there is just so much to do in them all it will blow your head off! These games are all about Spyro, a young curious dragon who always keeps away evil out of the Dragon Worlds. There are so many types of worlds, inclucing arabian, ice, dessert, robot, farms, dinosaur worlds, space, mountains, underwater and many more, all with great colors and suprises around you all the time. The games also have great instramental musical scores like those of Rayman, and are full of magic and numerous enemies all that fun and challenging to beat. The characters, ( which are all whimsical and creative,) of these worlds ask you for your help, and in return give you many prizes and clues to aid. Combined in the series, you collect many items to help you with your quests, including tailismans, orbs, and my favorite, gems, which are your currency and are scattered all around in the relams' towers, cliffs, sea-sides and just plain everywhere! Spyro also makes many friends, and has many abilites including gliding, flying, head-bashing, swimming, breathing fire and ice, charging, super-charging and fluttering. The Spyro games are also quite simple, but may take a few extra hours to unlock everything and beat all of the speedway records, so you truly never get tired of them! After the first in the series, Spyro, the others to follow just got more beautiful and imaginitive in all aspects and way to enjoy them. For any fantasy and adventure liking video game player, the Spyro series have everything your looking for. There's no way to go wrong with a dragon!

It's not a BAD game; it has it's moments. But it shows that even the irrepressible Harry Potter can't escape the Curse of the Movie-Spinoff Video Game.
To be frank, I cannot see for the life of me why, if you have a better gaming platform, you get a better game. I played my friend's version for Playstation 2 and there is SO much more to do. Hogwarts seems to be based off the movie version, as it is huge and has things you would actually see. In the PSX version, you are in corridors that do not follow Hogwarts standard (maze-like) The worst part, in my opinion, is the Gryffindor Common Room. One would just love to have a look around, right? Hah. In this game you have very little to do. I guess I'm more or less a stickler for roleplaying, and was hoping the game had a more realistic tone to it. Repeating what An Amazon.com Customer said, 'Prof. Lockhart looks like someone hit him with a can opener. Dobby looks like a rat. Colin Creevey is tiny, and Ginny Weasley looks like a pig.' It's all too true. I would love to have moving staircases, secret passages only avaliable with certain spells and more prefects roaming the hallways at dark...it adds a sense of adventure to the entire thing. Oh, by the way, even though Harry FINALLY TALKS, his mouth never moves (or if it does, the inside of his mouth is the same color as his face)
My favorite parts: Fighting Aragog My advice to the makers: Make the next game a little longer, a tad bit more challenging, but not overly so, and make the Duelling a side game for two players so that you can challenge one another. That would be wicked! ... Read more

Of course, I wouldn't say this is the best shooters out there right now, however, when this particular genre is disappearing, OWNING THIS TIMELESS CLASSIC itself is worth 5 Stars. Yes, this game does have its own flaws, such as kind-of unlimited continues (but you won't be able to beat it in one sitting, like some other shooters out there with real-time unlimited continues..so unwise..what's the point of beating the game in one sitting?? THINK!!), certain enemy attacks are nearly impossible to dodge (ok, may be it's just me who just can't seem to dodge them when other people are having no time doing that), however, its merits are way greater than its flaws. You wanna talk strictly about shooter games with having Radiant Silvergun as the standard for experience? You wanna talk about Shienryu/Galatic Attack as best typical vertical shooters as the standard for fun factor? You wanna talk about Silpheed as the standard for graphic? You wanna talk about Ray Storm as the standard for music and best ending? You wanna talk about Bangaioh as the standard for creativity? Then 5 Stars doesn't make sense for Strikers 1945.May be 3 1/2 or 4? However, this is good enough, to receive 5 Stars at this time, where shooter is dying genre.I fully enjoyed it and play time to time again and again.I try not to use those special attack as I play more and more, and that itself is awarding enough. Whether you like shooter or not, with this priceline and the fact you are here to own near perfect arcade shooter, it's priceless, at least, it's priceless for me.Please Enjoy It!!!

Also, if one turns on the game but do not hit "start", one can see the demo mode of the game, which reveals quite a bit of how to play the game. Don't listen to folks who might have told you this is a hard game. From what I have seen: Easy level is too easy for a 4-year old kid; Hard level is also winnable to him, who has managed to finish about > 50% of the game by himself (after watching a grown-up play). Just buy the game, you won't regret. Good luck & have fun.
Based on the same storylines in the famous comic series about the smurfs, this game involved a smurf who went on a journey from his village, day and night, across the mountains, down the valleys, into the caves, under the water, fighting snakes, monsters, etc..., to save his fellow smurfs, and ultimately the baby smurf. His final goal, of course, is to defeat Gargamel, his wicked opponent. No violence. To beat your "obstacles", just jump on/over them (no shooting or hitting involved). Players learn to estimate the distances to jump across obstacles, which is probably a good thing for kids who play the game. BEAUTIFUL 3-D graphics and animation, great game plan, great playability, great music, and more. In brief, "FIVE-STAR!". Strongly recommended!
