5-0 out of 5 stars It's no Super Mario Bros., but...
Well, let's see now. An overlooked platformer (most of the time), Blender Bros looks and feels similar to every other platformer, but it actually DOES give some new ideas.

Graphics - 8/10
The graphics in Blender Bros aren't amazing, especially during the "racing" levels. However, during regular platforming action, the flawless moves that Cosmo makes (along with the enemies) are excellent. All of your little Mini Bros. Helpers move fluidly along with you, following you. Unlike some platformers, you don't meet the exact same enemies every level (they all look different, by the way). All Mini Brothers look different, use different powers, and among other things, actually LOOK as if they're able to do what they can do.

Music and Sound - 7.5/10
...The music is hummable, and somewhat catchy. However, I can barely hear the sounds of the moves, attacks, etc. Infogrames really could have done at least a LITTLE better job on this one, considering their work on games such as Dragon Ball Z - Budoukai, etc. Of course, the sounds and music are on the GBA - earning an extra half point on Blender Bros.' score.

Game play - 7.5/10
Bah. This plays as any other platformer, with the exception of a few adjustments (your little Mini Bros buddies). These Mini Brothers follow you and do various things, such as fending off enemies and healing you - if you can find them. The enemies are easily defeated, the levels are simple as well (maybe excepting a few original levels). Even the bosses are painless and predictable!
Even though Blender Brothers might integrate the Pokemon-style "catch the Mini Brothers so they can help you" theme, this game should be easy and simple for anyone - and maybe just a tad of enjoyment for those veteran gamers.

Replay value - 5/10
There is really no point in playing Blender Bros again. Maybe if someone wanted to obtain all of the Mini Bros (little helpers that follow you and help you with various powers), they would play it again. Otherwise (as stated before), there is no point in playing the entire game all over again.

Overall - 7/10
Okay, so Blender Brothers is no Super Mario Brothers or Klonoa, but the platformer does its job well enough. To tell the truth, when I first started this game, I liked it a whole lot. However, the glamour wore off after a very short while.

Yes, well, my time playing Blender Bros. MIGHT have been better used playing something else. However, if you really love platformers (which I don't. my opinion on this doesn't matter much.), you should give this one a chance (or two).

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent
The graphics for this game is stellar. The music is okay, and the game is a little too short. The game is fun, but it is also too easy.I started playing it and couldn't put it down until I beat the game about 4 hours later.Pretty good buy for a bargain price.

5-0 out of 5 stars An overlooked game though it's fantastic
Blender Bros is an awkward title for a truly excellent game. Combining platform action with elements of collecting and several mini games, Blender Bros. is one of the better platform games to emmerge in quite some time. The character you control resembles an alien dog so to speak. As you go through levels where even your ears are a helpful tool, you'll come across things called mini-bros. When equipped, these mini-bros. provide you with extra abilities. The fun comes in trying to find and collect all of them. With excellent graphics, a surprisingly good soundtrack, perfect play control, and a well thought out game design, Blender Bros. could be the most over looked title of the year. Ironically it should deserve a more prestigious award for its innovation, and all out fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game but passcodes are back
We all love this game. The olny thing wrong with it is that you need passcode. We have a few games that have these and really who can keep up with strange 5 digit letter passcodes. But I have to say this game is easy enough to get back where you ended pretty fast. My kids enjoy it and thats who we bought it for!

1-0 out of 5 stars JP hits a high low...
I've played every Jurassic Park game to exist, and after I'd been under the impression that it no Jurassic Park game could be bad. This game proved me wrong by a landslide. It wasn't just bad, it SUCKED! Ok, you play as either this guy who wears a hat like Dr. Grant's who's incredibly slow, or as this pilot gal who's remarkabley weak and easily killed. No matter who you play, its annoyingly difficult and stupid. And, you get an added SUCKY FEATURE! The game, for whatever reason, AUTOMATICALLY ERASES MEMORY! I saved the game at this part where you have to avoid getting crushed by a Brachiosaur, which is REALLY HARD might I add, and I beat it. I saved and switched it off. I turned it back on later, and there was no saved data. So, don't get this game. Don't even THINK about getting this game. Trust me, its true.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS GAME SUUUUUCKS DONT GET IT WHATEVER U DO!!!!!!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Puzzles with arcade action don't work here
Jurassic Park was a great film, but this game would make the movie seem like Waterworld. Sure the graphics are nice, but the game play itself is very, very, weak. The attempt at combining puzzles with action failed completely. The two types are quite unbalanced and though the puzzles can be fun, the action is sorely lacking. Collecting capsules doesn't really constitute fun in my book. The other key elements of the game; music, play control, etc. are all excellent. These are the only things keeping this game from sinking to the bottom of the ratings pool. If you're a die hard Jurassic Park fan, you'll probably enjoy this game, though it has nothing to do with the films. Otherwise, you'll want to avoid this game like you would a Velociraptor. Fortunately though, this game can't open doors, so you can run and hide.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good graphics
While lacking in plot, this game will appeal to Jurassic Park fans like me.The graphics are very good, but the lack of characters is disappointing. The dinos make getting the DNA difficult, more than it should be.

4-0 out of 5 stars Do Good Graphics Make Up For An Easy Game?
DNA Factor is a game that is fun while it lasts. It has 10 species of dinosaur and 12 levels, but many of the levels return you to previous locations. The game has nothing to do with the movie, but it is fun anyway.
In each level, you move along, avoiding dinosaurs, picking up weapons, and collecting DNA particles that are needed in the game. At the end of each level, you must pick up a final DNA cartridge. If you do not collect enough DNA, you have to redo the level. If you do, you move on to the mini-game at the end of the level, where you shoot the DNA particles you collected at a DNA strand, filling in spaces. To make it harder, as the game moves on, the DNA strand moves faster, and you have to dodge parasites. The DNA strand also moves closer to you, and if you are hit by a parasite or touch the DNA strand, you have to restart the entire level.
In the game, once you figure out certain things in a level, it becomes very easy to beat. I beat this game in a month after I got it. Hey, it's a great game while it lasts. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 'nowhere near as hard as the original, but still fun.
In the 90's, if there was any one game that made me want to kill myself, it was the original Pocky & Rocky for SNES. It had an insane level of difficulty for such a cute game. Even the 'easy' difficulty was impossible. I remember making it to the last boss finally, and him saying "you can never beat me", and my game reset right then. But after months, I ended up beating him...after plugging in a second controller and using player 2's special attacks while I just layed on the rapid fire. It was a great feat, and I even marked the date I beat it on the back of the cartridge. Fortunately, Pocky & Rocky for GBA is nowhere as nuts as that. And that's a good thing too, because if it were, there'd be tons of broken GBAs laying around.

P&R has a simple little story just like the original did. You're given a problem, and it's up to you to take care of it. No little side quests or anything like that. Just old fashioned action/shooter fun. A ghost that Pocky sealed in a cave has escaped, and it's up to Pocky, Rocky and Becky to put 'em back in his place. You go through level after level, dealing with demons, ghosts and other paranormal beings, getting (get this) a high score in the process. There is a little challenge here and there, but it's about average on the difficulty factor. In fact, I only had trouble with level 2 on my flrst play through. The game's layout is nice. I could see this working back in the SNES/Genesis era and getting a good following. It's just a shame that not that many people care about 2-D shooters anymore. While it doesn't make that much of a difference, each of the characters have their own unique skill. Pocky has exploding cards (more powerful attacks than even the fireballs), Rocky has guided leaves (very useful since enemies attack you from every angle at will), and Becky has multidirectional cards. And there's no save feature, just a password which is kind of annoying...I never liked passwords in action games. But with only a few levels, you can beat this in one sitting. Under 20 minutes even probably.

The graphics are fluid and look almost identical to the SNES sprites. Animation isn't as smooth but it looks great on the GBA's screen. Many bright colors are here too, so you're not stuck with one boring setting each level. The majority of the game is in 2-D but there's one or two 3-D effects thrown in. And cutscenes introduce the story and follow boss fights, again like the original. Sound effects and the music are just as good too. You can tell that the developers had fun and took their time making these tracks/sounds.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything to do once you beat the game. Each character has their own ending (barely), but there's no challenge mode or any extra features thrown in. But if you loved Pocky & Rocky, it's worth getting to relive the classic moments. Throwing leaves/cards, waving your tail/prayer stick and using super bombs (sorry, no slide dashes here) is just how you remembered it. Pick this up for the cheap price and for something to do when you're waiting around for something.

Amazon.com Review

3DO's famous little green men are back, and this time they'reinvading the Game Boy Advance. Once again General Plastro, the leaderof the Tan army, attempts world domination. This time he's enlisted thehelp of powerful aliens. Gamers choose either the stalwart Sarge or thevivacious Vikki to thwart Plastro.

The game plays like a classic overhead-view shooter. The controls aresimple, although strafing with the shoulder button takes some gettingused to. Gameplay consists entirely of shooting enemies, findingobjects, and unlocking doors. It's a wonderfully simple formula thatwill appeal to gamers of all ages.

It's far from a perfect game, though. The graphics pale in comparisonto other Game Boy Advance launch titles--the early levels lookparticularly dull. The developers opted for assigning passwords aftereach level rather than letting players save their progress on thecartridge. The collision detection can be irksome--you'll swear thatyou've hit an enemy, only to watch him continue assaulting you. Finally, most players will finish the game in a few days (some in justone).

Army Men Advance is a poor choice for the hard-core gamer, butcasual and younger gamers are sure to enjoy its simplicity.--Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Simple controls
  • Simple gameplay
  • Later levels are cool
Cons:
  • Poor graphics
  • No in-game saving
  • Early levels are boring

2-0 out of 5 stars Good back in '01....now, skip it!
This game was good back when Gameboy was new but now that there are plenty more and better games......this game sucks

Ignore this nonsense...please
(this game sucksthis game sucksthis game sucksthis game sucksthis game sucksthis game sucks the levels are boring and sometimes hard and well get another game or the boogeyman will kick your @$$ duh!!!! hahahahahah blaH blaHblaHblaHblaHblaHblaH hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha)

now...seriouly... don't get this game, buy metroid fusion or metroid zero mission. Or if you are really into army men (You dorks) you can buy toy soldiers to play with duh!

1-0 out of 5 stars If only they would've at least tried to make it interesting
Army Men Advance tries to capture the feeling of playing with those green Army guys you can buy by the bag for $1.50, but fails miserably.

The game starts with your choice of either the Sarge or Vikki, though there is no visible difference between the two. You are given a list of mission objectives. To complete each level, you must obtain all of the given objectives. Objectives range from finding keys to free POWs to sabotaging enemy facilities. Of course the objectives grow increasingly difficult as your progress.

The game's overhead view bares a strong resemblance to the 1992 release of Demolition Man on SEGA CD. You use the D-pad to maneuver in the corresponding direction. With unlimited ammo at your disposal, all you need to do is stand diagonally at an angle to your opponent and fire. The AI is terrible at recognizing this strategy and will continue to fire in one of the basic four directions. It is very rare that you will find an enemy actually firing diagonal.

From a visual stance, it appears as if there was little attention to detail. In the character select screen, Vikki has this green haired Malibu Barbie appearance. In the game, she looks like a peach humanoid with a green ponytail carrying a black block. Sarge keeps his full green motif, but looks just like all the enemies, except he is green. The floor remains a monotonous gray, and there is a definite black seem between the characters and the backgrounds.I know you may think I am being harsh on the graphics, but when compared to other games out there, this is just not acceptable.

This is another classic example of a game that should never have been made. If you want the feeling of playing with Army Men, go to your local store and spend $5 on a few bags. The fun will last you longer than this game. 3DO should have either passed this project up or given it more quality. I do not recommend this game, however for those who are still curious, rent it first.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cartoony goodness
Many people mistake the cartoonish graphics for bad graphics, but they arn't really bad, there just cartoony, and that's exactly what 3DO was going for.
Now for the review of everything else: The controls are quite simple. you (of coures) use the arow control pad to go up down side to side. The A button to shoot (you can also get a machine gun that has 99 bullets that you can continueuselly shoot by holding down the A button) and the B button to throw grenades, shoot a bazooka, and a flame thrower.
There is some times big vehicles that you can shoot down, and they will give you items such as a health pack, or a weapon or two.
There are objectives to complets throughout the game. Such as blowing up all the vehicles, getting keys or getting into buildings, just to name a few.
my only complaint, is that each level has a code, and to get into your current level, you have to enter a code, and unfortuanatelly, after I beat the game, I lost all the codes that I had written down.

There is no music, but thats no big deal for this game.
So overall if you like shoot em up games, but don't want too much violence, as well as vast and varied levels I highly recomend this game.

Sincerelly: Glowis

5-0 out of 5 stars Army Mens pretty cool!
Now you either love or hate this game (most people hate it) but I love it! See the graphics are not 'advanced' but they are clean and appealing 5 stars. The gameplay is sometimes repetitive but it's still plenty of fun throwing grenades and stuff and the missions are simple but nice 4 stars. The sound is pretty good but some parts sound like a game boy could use them with no trouble! 3 stars. The controls are almost as if the game boy advance was designed for this one game! 5 stars. Lastability, now somebody wrote in a review "I beat this game in 20 minutes" (somebodys telling tales) which is basically impossible without cheats because even if it's really easy it'll take you to long to walk to the end after doing objectives with 12 missions. You will finish it fairly easily if your use to these gamesbut if your not...;). 4 stars. Replay Value, is very good in this you just wanna come back for more! 5 stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is just bad
I liked some Armymen Games but this is just as bad as Sarges Hero's 1. The horrible looking charactars and bad looking stages. But the horrible combat system doesn't help either. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 5 Star
This game is extremely fun and I would give it a 5 star rating. This is, because this game is the best game in the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game worked perfect on my GBASP. I Hope you like it!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun game for family.
After our 1000th game of Uno, my family needed a new card game.

So, we gave Mario Party a try.

First off- You don't need an E-Read to play this game.
It was really dubious from the box whether that was the case or not.
You will need to have a coin handy for the "chance" part of the game.

With that said, this game has been very popular with my 5 year old son and 8 year old daughter.

The rules were mercilessly simple (compared to the un-playable Harry Potter Quiditch card game), and we were up and playing almost instantly.

For my 5 year old son, we played open handed the first few games so he got the gist of what each card meant (there is a text explanation of how to play special cards that needs explaining.)After that, he now associates the character on the card with what it does.

My only "complaint" with the game is it can take awhile to finish; I'd say for 3 players, 30-40 minutes is the norm.

Like most games, the fate of the game is largely chance based. However, like Uno, some skill and thought can definitely help you to win the game.(Should I save this card or use it now... what happens if I do / don't do this now. Etc. )

It those characteristics of the game that I enjoy seeing my kids work on.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...get this thing!
Now I was not a real big fan of Mario Party 4.So I said I'll just try this one.And I did. So,I read the instructions while waiting in a line at a resturant. When I sat down,I was all ready in love with it.When I got home I played the mini games on the E-Reader and they were cool.Since the game is only for two players I called my friend and asked him if he wanted to come over.He said yes.At first he was hesitant about playing it because he didn't like the other Mario Party games but he finaly said O.K. So we played it and it was realy fun. The only bad point is you need at least two players to play and if your an only child like me it's a big disadvantage. All and all, I'll give it five stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars More fun than Uno ever was
Looks like nintendo really knows what the e-reader can be used for. While all other e-reader cards thus far were either completely dependant upon the e-reader for fun or barely used the e-reader (pokemon-e cardsonly sport extras),Mario Party-e is fun as a standalone game or with the e-reader!The card game is fun and the mini games make the game crazy.

My brother and I played a bunch of times the other day.Just as i thought i would win- a minigame resulted in him taking all my progress.the lead switches hands at the whim of minigames. The whole experience is fun and each game is different. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A little hard for young ones but not too bad
I bought this game for my 4 year old. Most of the instructions are on the display right before you start a game, but since he can't read, I have to explain them to him every time. Very time consuming for a Mom. I think once he plays with it enough he'll memorize the instructions, but I'd recommend it for readers.
There are a lot of short games within it, so if you are a "short-attention-spanner" this is for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars awful
this is by far one of the worst games i have ever played.this is a great example of some of the sub-par shovelware that has flooded store shelves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Navigation plus Challenging Games

gets really hard it will take you about 8 tries to get to a new
stage, and you will probably get bored on stages that you have to tried over and over ,but this game this extremly fun in my case.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's not the greatest game to grace the earth
Konami decided to release three games based on Jurassic Park III. Unfortunately, only one of them is worth playing, and it's not this one. I wouldn't exactly call it fun trying to escape from a dinosaur infested island using a flare gun for a majority of the game, but that's just me. As if that's not bad enough, the horrible aiming system results in misses constantly. The graphics on this game are great, but that's it. I admit, parts of the game are fun, but not enough to make the game an enjoyable experience. In fact, it seems like the game is more of a burden to play than anything else. I've had root canals more fun than this.

If you love SpongeBob SquarePants then you'll like this game. The plot of this game is not really good.It is a fun game.

4-0 out of 5 stars The funnest game I've ever played
This game is the funnest game I've ever played! I did beat it 3 times, but I play it over & over again. I would recomend it for a beginners game, The graphics are great, the story lines good, and its funny. You have to get a sandwich for super heroes and get coins to buy a kelp bar. You have to fight giant mother jellyfish and Planktins giant steal shark and more.
Its a great game!

3-0 out of 5 stars okay.....
This game was fun but then I beat it in a few hours. It very easy, well for me it is. I think about [$] is alot for this game. There are 20 levels but each one takes about a few minutes I wouln't suggest anyone to buy it. If you really want to play it you should rent it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game, too easy
I'm not much of a gamer myself, but I recieved a GBA for my birthday and decided to get a game about my favorite TV show.I figured this game would be pretty easy, but not as easy as it was.I beat the game in about 2 days, and I really didn't play it much.I loved the game, especially the great background music, but if one is much of a gamer, this will be WAY to easy.If you really love spongebob, it's a great buy though.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT, HARD, SHORT
I really liked this game. Well obviously because I luv SpongeBob. But besides that. The sound is kinda annoying, the graphics are awesome, and it's funny! It's pretty tough tho. I died ALOT! The 1st boss is hard, but the others are easy. Really weird too. The only problem is this game is too short, I mean, I beat it in 3 hours. But I like to play it again & again. Buy this as a intermiediate game. Kinda like ur 3rd or 4th. It's a game I guarentee you'll luv.

2-0 out of 5 stars Marble (not-so-fun)ness
The game I've played is not for color, rather the older version.
But, it cant be much different.
Basicaly, you roll a marble around in a "maze" - well, its not a maze, more you move it around obstacles. The fun part of the game is where you roll you marble in front of a "wave" that carries you, but if you dont get off of it, the marble falls and you have to start again (from where it fell)
Overall, I felt the game was okay for a hour or less, but it gets boring after a while. There are more worthwile things to spend your money on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect recreation of a Nintendo game
This is an original "race" to the finish, because you play as a marble and go down a 3D course full of traps, hazards like puddles of acid, vacuums, enemy marbles, slinkies that eat your marble and several challenges. This is not a game for children or anyone who can get frustrated easily, because first of all the controls are not where you press down and your marble goes down, when you press down your marble goes diagonally down and left! Secondly, if you fall far enough, your marble will break and crumble, but fear not, because you have unlimited "marbles," however you are limited by time. Once your time runs out, that's it! There are only five courses in the game. This game is a perfect recreation of the original Nintendo game. There is a two player linked mode, so two players can race each other down the course.

1-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to play
For me, the bottom line is: this game is difficult to play on a gameboy. The original arcade game used a trackball and it was a very fun and exciting game. This does not translate well to how a gameboy is played. It is difficult to move the marble around 360 degrees.I do not recommend this game.

2-0 out of 5 stars not like the original
The original marble madness is really good. it was ported to the gameboy and had great phisics and was exactly like the amiga and arcade versions, there was only one porblem, it was in black and white. Well my friends thisnew game was supposed to fix all that. Unfortunatly it failed. Hear me outand I'll tell you why. Instead of modifying the old engine of marblemadness they oppted to make an entirly new one, Big mistake, although thislooks exactly like the first one its very different in gameplay. First ofall the phisics are all wrong, hills present little problem to get over andif you are going through a lot of twisty doo dads(for lake of a bettername) you will fall off instead of skiming off the sides like in theoriginal. Another problem is that it slows down in some areas, Slows down? why? Its not over the limits of what a gbc(gameboy color) can do, all I canattribute this to is the game company rushing it, and therefore forgetingto fix some major bugs and slowdown issues. Also, unlike the original, themuliplayer was pulled out of this version at the last second, so no playinghead to head with your friend:( All in All this was a rushed game thatshould have had at least two more monthes of programing and bug fixingbefore it was released. On the plus side it has one more level than the oldversion, and its in color. P.S. I recomend the original gb version, it maynot be in color, but at least you can play it with a friend, and it hasgreat phisics.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too frustrating for younger children
I bought this as a gift for a 5-year old, who is quite accomplished through many levels at several other Game Boy games (Donkey Kong, Pac Man, etc.)He was far more frustrated with this than any other game. The GameBoy game direction control is not adequate.Ideally, a slower marble speedas a training or beginner level may help (although I recognize the gamegives unlimited lives within the alotted time and real marbles have onespeed on a given slope). It is a difficult game best suited for older, accomplished gamers. ... This title offers four Midway arcade classics for one price. The games are as you remember them: In Joust, you ride a flying ostrich and try to defeat other mounted knights by bumping them from above. Clear the screen of enemies, then move on to faster and tougher enemies. In Robotron, you run around on a playing field attempting to clear the screen of evil enemy Robotrons, all the while trying to save the last human family. Defender has you trying to eliminate all the alien forces in each stage while defending the lives of the humans scattered across the surface. In Sinistar, you battle unseen enemy drones who are building the ultimate evil--the Sinistar. Sinistar can only be stopped by bombs you make out of space crystals. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Flaws aside good retro value!
Okay ... I agree with some reviews here.SINISTAR is a mess - you really can't control your ship too well with it constantly thrusting, ROBOTRON is a lacking in that you can't fire in a direction you are not moving, JOUST fares pretty well but again some control issues, and DEFENDER is hard to see even on the well lit SP screen.

But it is nice to see these 80s classics in any form.I spent tons of quarters on these games back then, and they are hard to find now.The Gameboy has the power to do them justice.Shame that the controls are not perfect, but still worth a look!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sinistar is broken!
... I wanted Sinistar! The ship won't stop thrusting. I'ts like playing a broken arcade machine. AAAGGHH! The game's only plus is that this Defender works. The new GBA Defender is messed up just like Sinistar. Both these games were put out unfinished!

1-0 out of 5 stars Stinks
This is absolutely the worst arcade translation I've ever seen. Defender, Sinistar, Robotron, and Joust are great arcade games, and have been faithfully reproduced on other platforms, but this sad attempt bears little resemblance to the real things. That might be okay if the games in this implementation were playable on their own terms, but they're not. Defender/Joust for Gameboy Color is much better than this pathetic garbage.

1-0 out of 5 stars I love the arcade versions, the GBA version stinks!
This collection is a disaster I'm afraid. I have a real Defender machine in my kitchen and MAME is the only thing I play on my PC, so I know about these things!
Defender is a poor re-write, unlike the faithful reproductions (emulation?) in the Namco Museum cart. Defender's movement and "physics" are all wrong - very poor indeed.
Robotron is unplayable because there is no way to lock the direction you fire in (ie you can't fire backwards) - Jeff Minter came up with the simple idea of holding down the fire button to lock fire in a certain direction - shame these guys didn't copy the idea.
Joust seems like the most faithful reproduction, but maybe that's because I play more Defender. There is still plenty wrong with the Joust game as well :-(
Sinistar is too fast to play, but I am not an expert on this game.
I am a serious retrogame freak, but I'm going to take this piece of garbage back to the shop!

2-0 out of 5 stars Little replayability
I have played these games in the arcades (I owned a "Pong" home game when they were new, to give you a reference), I also played these on the PS. The MAJOR problem is that you dont have the dual joysticks like the arcade, thus a game like Sinistar
(which I popped a lotta quarters in, by the way in the arcade you have a short life in that game!), is almost unplayable. You have little chance in Robotron , and you can't fully enjoy Joust. If I could'nt enjoy them on the PS, I'll pass on the GBA with a tiny unlit screen! Nice try but I'll save my 20 bucks and pass on the frustration. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Shooting Action
This game is a good side scrolling shoot'em up, difficulty is good calibrated, and you'll make progress at each game. Graphics is good but nothing very amazing, the color palette is quide dark, and sometimes enemies blend a bit too much with the background (this is a problem that GBA SP owners will not encounter).
Anyway if you like sidescrolling shooters, and if you already own Gradius for GBA, this game could be a worthy purcase.

2-0 out of 5 stars Been there, done that.
This game is your typical average 2-D side scrolling shooter. Nothing new to this one. The graphics are good and the music is OK, in my opinion. The ship has 3 different speeds (slow, mid, fast), but the fastest speed is nothing you couldn't handle, so you'll always want your ship on fast, making the other 2 settings pretty much useless. Game control is really good, no complaints there. One of the most dissapointing features is that the game only has 4 different weapons, and you can easily get all of them by the second stage. This makes playing the later stages of the game rather monotonous. In general, this is a really difficult game to beat, but then again that's not a new feature either. If you are a fan of shooters, I'd recommend you to borrow it from a friend, or maybe rent it without expecting much.

4-0 out of 5 stars It’s Space-Shooting Madness, I Tell You!
Saluting Kemco’s published Mech Platoon as praiseworthy treasure, I’ve been alert for any movement on games behind the Kemco name.Stalking Phalanx for relatively some time, I eyeballed the dupe on its game shelf and then askedmyself “can anything go wrong with this one?”I took the gamble, bought it, and settled down with the new cart injected into my GBA.My inference?Within hours I found that there’s nothing seemingly off key with it.Phalanx fixes up a salver of classical side-scrolling shoot-em-up principles.Set in the year 2279, the player is given the part as a genetically enhanced soldier.Fulfilling the crusade as humanity’s last hope, players must put an end to the dreadful Delia invaders.Piloting either three starships, Phalanx throws players into the cosmos where endless masses of unfriendly starfighters aim to gun your ship into rubble. An outline of the gameplay is as follows: turn pesky, packs of fighters into debris, escape plentiful obstacles, and send tremendous motherships on a collision course to flaming Hell.In all the replete, nine stages, there is no shortage of operational firepower or power-ups (ten in all).Finished in a few sittings, I define Phalanx’s nonstop action as a deployment of space-shooting madness.Nearly a flawless port over the SNES, it clings on tight to games like Gradius and others who charted the fundamentals to the genre.

Marvelously represented, the graphics on this shooter are slick, smooth, and sweet.Regular aircraft and bullets are in the form of brightly detailed sprites.Oversized motherships are animated suitably with the multi-layered backgrounds.Stages are well themed like the entire planetary scenery along with the caverns. There‘s a number of oddities like oh say, giant eyeballs and blood vessels! From time to time though, the graphics tend to enter the discolored and shadowy zone. One problem with the darker atmosphere is that objects soaring on the screen become tough to tell apart from. With some sight deprived, impatient gamers may feel the pang of frustration come up and about.Forgiving the quibble, Phalanx is a graphically stunning invention.Although the audio territory is a bit flawed with its trivial beeps that have no similitude of weapons discharging in space, the explosions in the rest of the game are notable.A variety of fast-paced techno lingers in the air as players turn enemies into cannon fodder. If you played previous games like these, expect the futuristic soupçon.

Even without a deep or distinguished narrative or characters, Phalanx does what it’s supposed to: provide a juggernaut of space-shooting chaos.Frenetic bundles of enemies have diminutive intelligence, but their moving missiles should occupy players to keep a close eye on their shield level and tightly steer the intensity of their thrusters.Boosting its statistics is the amount of sheer joythe levels cram in unyielding quarters. With a decent presentation, secret missions, and solid 2D play, this one’s the best 2D shooter out on the GBA, and is a must for any shooter fan. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars sk8in at an all time low
Personally i'm a sk8r and love to sk8.INfact thats all i do, ride my zero and play tony hawk. This game represents sk8in in no way. You can't really to tricks, and the ones you can do are stupid. Like the double ollie, thats not even possible. the snowboarding isn't bad. the game has no story, sumthin about punk ass aliens or sumthing. All tou do is ride, shoot these stupid things with a sling shot, and ollie off buildings and stuff. If you want to try it be warned it may suck.

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is a waste of MONEY!
This game has no point, you don't get to do tricks or anything. All you do is shoot aliens, that's it. I don't recemend this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is alright, but definately rated pg-13
this game is pretty cool, however its not better than tony hawk games! ...you shoot aliens, skateboard, snowboard, and hoverboard.you cannot shoot while moving but you can preform tricks and grind. This games has challenging levels, but some enemies appear off screen, so you have to watch out!The boss levels are fun and challenging, and kind of like those dancing games in the arcade, if you've ever seen or played one. But, they can get boring.True to its rating, i would not reccomend this game to anyone under the age of 13.unless they are extremely mature.I think that the best part of the game is the cartoon sequences, because in the cartoon they talk all gangsta and on the bottom its all preppy. However, i skateboard and snowboard and am dissapointed at how they percepted how skate and snowboarders are. ...

...You get to shoot...aliens(what could be better?). Its good in graphics.
The story is good. THE sound is good...

How in the world can, someone give this game 5 stars and say it is better than tony hawk. This is a big waste of money, all u do is skate and snow board then shoot sling shots and u cant skate and shoot at the same time u have to stop then shoot. And how can someone say this game is better then tony hawk this kid is 11 he doesnt have enough experience in games 2 review. And the boss levels r rediculously stupid. 5-0 out of 5 stars Smash Bros Must!
Although I don't have the game, and only played it for two minutes, I knew that I liked it once I started. It is so similar to the Smash Bros games, youwouldn't believe it! The parts add variety to the game. Allowing different combinations of abilities. This allows for hundreds of possible battle strategies. It can mean hours of endless gameplay, and you still won't get bored.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cool,Cool,Game!
This is the very best game boy advance game I have ever played even though I don't have gameboy advance my bestfriend let me play his and I loved it so much I went out bought a gameboy advance and got the game and I've been playing it ever since then! And I watch the show so much I know what there gonna say when there gonna say it of course thats only the ones that I already saw. So briefly this is the very best game that I have ever played so in that I think you should keep on "TRUCKIN"! Oh and please after you get done with the first season add another season.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not at all what I was hoping for
This game stinks. There is no real plot development and the gameplay is overly repetitive. I was hoping for a game with more of an RPG feel, like Pokemon, Breath of Fire 2, the Japanese "Medarots Navi", or something along those lines.

Bottom line, don't waste your money on this game. If you want a Medabots game, wait for the next release from Natsume for the GBA. It appears far more developed and interesting. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Pitfall Harry is back! Well, sort of. Pitfall Harry has beenkidnapped, and this time his son is exploring and adventuring in hisstead. Pitfall is fondly remembered as one of the first realhits on the Atari 2600 game system way back in the early '80s. Harryreappeared in new adventures on the PC, PlayStation, Super Nintendo, and more. Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a direct port of thesegames, and you'll find it enhanced slightly, but mostly the same asprevious versions.

Pitfall is a 2-D side-scrolling adventure in which Harry Jr. ison a mission in the South American jungle to recover artifacts, gold, treasure, his pop, and other goodies. There must have been an explosionin a major cache somewhere, because this stuff is sitting in trees, onthe ground, and in subterranean locations. Harry and Harry Jr. likelymugged Indiana Jones because they're wearing his outfit and his whip. They also find lots of snakes and go on a mine car ride in this game.

But the lack of originality doesn't matter that much because thegameplay offers pretty good stuff overall. Harry Jr. must run and jumpover quicksand and the gaping maws of crocodiles, swing on vines, climbropes, and fight chattering skeletons and chittering monkey foes in hisquest. He's also got to solve a few puzzles along the way.

While the graphics are enhanced in 32-bit finery for the Game BoyAdvance screen, the details and colors are muddy, making it hard toappreciate the lush environments. Seeing where you're going and whatyou're grabbing can be difficult, even with perfect lighting. Also, thegame suffers from repetition and a lack of inspiration. There's only somuch Harry Jr. can do, and you'll find him doing it a lot, over andover. Still, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a worthwhile rompon the handheld even if it is outshined a bit by other, cleaner-lookinglaunch titles. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Pitfall Harry (and son) are back
  • The game features several distinct environments
  • Swinging over open-mouthed crocs is as cool now as it was almost 20years ago
Cons:
  • The graphics are a bit muddy and hard to see without perfectlighting
  • The game feels a little repetitious and uninspired

This is an okay game because I bought it here online for [$]. If I paid full price for it, then I would be a little upset. It does has it's flaws and can very frustrating at times.

5-0 out of 5 stars very impressive
This is one of the great gbaagames ever. One of the best graphics for GBA and more. This should have a average of 5 stars. The gameplay is interesting, exciting, and fun.Thats why I call it one of the greatest gba games ever.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is an awesome game!
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure was good as a P.C version, and now, with it's arrival on GBA, it's even better, with sharper picture, clearer sound and impressive quality. The aim is to take Harry Jr. through the mayan jungles, forests, mines, temples and tooms, to find treasures, avoid crocodiles, tigers and other such nasties, and basically try to stay alive. It's a bit too difficult on some levels (Yaxchilan Lagoon and Toom of Palenque), but overall, it's good fun, with some added surprises and good-natured action. Kill those monkeys! Ha ha ha ha!

I am 20 yrs old and I've been a Scooby fan since I can remember and I hate to say it but this game just bites....It's not very challenging to start with and the characters can't really do much besides walk, run and jump. The point of each level is to get Scooby snacks and well, it's boring. Thumbs down for this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is SUPER AWESOME
YEAH so I'm a little bit old for the power rangers but who can help but love the exciting power rangers time force game. This game is so addictive,Im hooked I play it again and again and again, you get the idea, kids ask your parents for this game I know when I did that was the best decision of my life.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST GAME EVER!!
Okay so I may be a 14 year old gamer but seriously Power Rangers? Well where to start? Let's see the sound is absolutely awful, the game has sluggish controls, so easy that even your gran could beat it, and definetely does not use the Game Boy Advance to it's full potential. Especially graphics wise. Thankfully I never brought this game ( I wasn't planning to anyway) in fact I just happened to try it out at my local games store. Even for five year olds this game is really bad. They would be way better off with something like wario Land 4 that is excellent.even I love that game! Power Rangers on GBAcould only be less enjoyable if it squirted sulphuric acid into your face. So don't buy it!

1-0 out of 5 stars It stinks!
I'm a gamer and this game is one of the worst I've played. The graphics are horrible and the action isn't there. it is exeedingly frusturating unless you get cheats. I payed $14.00 for this game and it's not worth it. It might be good for a six year old, but I'm thirteen and I did not enjoy this AT ALL! It's not worth the money,my advice is, don't buy! Hope this is helpful to you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Attractive, but it does have one major drawback
There is too much lag time between the buttons andthe character's movements. If you don't press thebuttons "just so" you spend alot of time messing up. It is an attractive game to play once you get thehang of it, but it does take a lot patience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pitfall: Return to the Jungle
This game is for the advetures, but patient because it does have tricky parts to overcome.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING:DO NOT BUY
This game stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you want to have fun donot buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pitfall Reborn
I bought this game because of the original Pitfall for Atari. It was great to have such wonderful animation and to see how far our generation has come. The number of levels and the increasing difficult made it agreat challenge.

The way the view changes is often a headache swingingfrom one type of view to another so quickly.By slowing down at certainpoints I have learned to take advantage of this by seeing other options ortokens.

I am glad this was my first buy for my Playstation. It has beena great 'learning' game for me. ... Read more
