Arc 1 is pretty short. You could finish it in about 10-15 hours (20+ if you do all the side quests), but it's still a lot of fun. Arc 2 continues the great story, and is a whole lot longer. You could spend anywhere from 50-100 hours on Arc 2. And finally, Arc 3. They took the job system from Arc 2 and made it the main part of Arc 3. Although not as serious, and more lighthearted, than the other games in the series, Arc 3 is still pretty fun. My favorite is Arc 2, then 1, and finally 3, but they all provide hours of fun and entertainment. Also included is Arc Arena, which allows you to fight other monsters with monsters you capture in Arc 2. This was kind of fun, but I didn't really get into it. The packaging comes with a hardcover instruction booklet (over 100 pages), a memory card holder, a "Making of Arc the Lad Collection" cd, and more. If you're a fan of strategy/rpg's, don't miss out!
Arc The Lad II is better than Arc the Lad, and yes I have beaten it (for that reviewer who claimed not very many people have beaten it). The spells look better than Arc the Lad and you get to capture monsters and have them join your team. A complaint I have about the monsters is they cannot equip armor and so cannot keep up with your human party members. But with monster Arena you can fight with your friends (assuming you don't spend all your time on Amazon and do have friends) with your monster and so still keeping them up on levels is pretty important. This game is tougher than the first, it has more puzzles and tougher enemies plus the level you can level up to is insane (I have no idea what the max is but it is over 150). This game introduces the Hunter's Guild to Arc the Lad lovers where you take up jobs and go after wanted monsters all for money. Most of the cast from Arc the Lad joins up with your party and you can fight with them, if you've beaten Arc the Lad you can use convert and your characters from Arc the Lad will be at the same level with the same weapons you last left them at. The transition between games is extremely smooth thumbs up to this game! Sometimes the battles do get annoying but bare with it man... it's a good game, now shut your complaining. I must admit I haven't beaten Arc the Lad III , so I think I'm entitled to my opinion about this one. Man I love the character Lutz but everyone is so mean to him, Alec (the hero) is suppose to be his best friend and yet he joins the others in picking on him they should realize that Lutz kicks all their [butts] and they should shut up cause he's the best character... Ahhh that felt sooo good Ok. enough about my Lutz raving. The game is better than the other ones. You meet a lot of the cast from the first and second game but it's rare for you to fight along side them, none of them join your party. But that's ok cause you fight with Tosh for a while (he's not at the same level I left him on GRRRRRRR) The plot revolves more around the Hunter's Guild than the second one and you're introduced to other Guilds.... Not sure if I like the other guilds or not I rarely use them but hey if you like that type of thing I guess. The magic looks good and now instead of capturing monsters you turn them into cards where they'll do one move and disappear, hey I'm not complaining I think it looks pretty cool myself. Anyways this game is awesome with the awesome battle system all the Arc the Lads have... So great stuff here... Did I mention Lutz is awesome? Overall Arc the Lad satisfied me especially its battle system. The Arc the Lad series (though I haven't played the fourth one) flows together better than any video game series I've ever played.
Arc the Lad 1: Great game. Really short. But really fun, after you play it once it isn't as great, but still I loved the battles and the 2d graphics worked great. Arc the Lad 2: Ok its got alot more in it. You can change your weapons, more spells, tons of characters, monsters to control, yet sadly fails. The reason being? Noone actually plays to the end. Most of these people reviewing probably haven't gotten to the second half of the game. The first part is great. Then the battles start to get more frequent. The third part is enormously filled with meaningless battles, one after another. Then we reach the final areas. Tons of battles in which the reward is a new plot twist, you now must go to some random town and enter a doom tower filled with 30 levels of battling fun! Ok so you beat the tower, then split up in some ice area, 2 groups, thousands of battles. So you reach the final dungeon(s). Ok you walk up some stone blocks... now your going to HAVE to fight 5 consecutive battles in a row. Then go into this place and search for like 5 switches or something, it wasn't clear. I fought 4 battles going into a house and coming out, then realized there was nothing in there. I walked up to it, entered battle, went inside and battled, entered a room to find nothing, left the room and battled, went outside and battled. In these battles you are outnumbered. You just use your magic and take them down in about 3 hits. The magic starts to get real annoying after you see it thousands of times. Ok so you find the switches, guess what, you have to go into this creepy lair and fight some bosses, great. Overall the game really slumps. Most of the reviews here just say that arc the lad 2 has more then arc the lad 1 and is better. Sure arc the lad 2 starts great, but I am WARNING you, you will probably just stop caring by the end. Arc the Lad 3: I got to the final dungeon and quit in arc the lad 2, then arc the lad 3 was popped in. I did not load my data because, well, I never finished arc2 to the dead end. So you basically are a hunter. The Cast seems dry compared to the original. Still the 3d seems appropriate, because most games are 3d now. It isn't better then what you can find anywhere else. Just go play a game like final fantasy 7 or legend of dragoon and you will be more satisfied. But arc the lad 3 seems kind of a blend of arc1 and arc2, with some today standards thrown in. Arc the Lad Monster Arena: Pointless, you load in some monsters from arc the lad 2. I used a monster throught the whole game in arc2, yet the monster was still 10 levels behind all my other characters. Monsters are pointless, you have like 30 different good characters to choose from. This game just has some battles, and buying of stuff. Don't worry about it. Extra: The book is kinda cool, considering its hardback. The little stand things are not really needed. The memory card holder will probably never be used. But the analog covers seems kinda okay, but feel weird. The making of the games is not really a blast either, its just showing you how they do stuff that you will never be able to do. Overall the games are not that satisfying. If arc1 was released alone for like 15 dollars I would get it. But it is really short. So do not spend your money on this product. Borrow it from a friend, play arc1, then return it. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review You can play The New Nightmare as either Edward Carnby, a paranormalprivate investigator and poster boy for the series, or Aline Cedrac, a collegeprofessor and requisite video game babe. As in Resident Evil 2, theprotagonists cross paths but have separate adventures within the main story, which, in this case, involves evil supernatural forces at work on theappropriately (but unimaginatively) named Shadow Island. Although The New Nightmare uses the genre-standard, third-person,fixed-camera viewpoint, it adds a twist by bathing most of its detailed, predrawn 3-Dbackgrounds in darkness, and then equipping the player with a controllableflashlight. Not only does this create some rather impressive lighting effects, but it also heightens the sense of fear that is further fueled by the game'sominous music and sounds. Unfortunately, the rest of The New Nightmare isn't very inspired. Itsunderdeveloped controls are on par with the first Resident Evil, whichmight not be so bad if not for that fact that this combat-light game has youtediously running around looking for keys to match its many nondescript lockeddoors, as well as trying to find solutions to vague puzzles that all too oftenleave you in the dark. --Joe Hon Pros: Reviews (28)

Editorial Review Tomorrow Never Dies uses an auto target mode, but it's far too restrictive to be of use here, requiring players to stand still in order to keep the target locked. The game loyally follows the film, butwhen the action intensifies--such as a hot pursuit on skis, or flying a nuclear warhead-laden jet out of a hotzone--players are forced to either relinquish control entirely or have minimal input. Gadgets from Bond's old pal Q are too sparsely used, and the absence of any multiplayer mode seals thisgame's fate as a small diversion rather than a stellar accomplishment. --Jeff Young Pros: Features Reviews (108)

Amazon.com Review Were it not for this major shortcoming, Resident Evil: Survivor's otherflaws would be more tolerable, if not excusable. The attempt here to graftvarious elements of the Resident Evil games onto a shoot-'em-up justdoesn't take. The plot--which casts the player as an amnesiac who survives ahelicopter crash only to find himself in a foreboding town swarming with zombiesand other hideous biotechnological mutations--is more of a side story to theResident Evil saga, and not a very interesting one at that. The game'spuzzles practically solve themselves, and while your character is free (more orless) to go where he pleases, the gameplay is so terribly linear that it mightas well take place on a predetermined track. Once you factor in the game'scoarse graphics, choppy animation, and spotty sound, what you're left with hereis far more horrible than horrifying. --Joe Hon Pros: Reviews (70)

Amazon.com Product Description Reviews (14)
The graphics, presented in an overhead 3D adventure-type view of the battle arena, are fairly good. The intro movie is excellent.Powerpuff Girls fans will especially enjoy seeing the show's intro in 3D animation..Overall, things are nice and colorful and do a good job of creating an atmosphere similar to the show..The sound is also good, although some more soundbytes from the characters or the show would have been nice. The controls are fairly simple, albeit somewhat sluggish. In fact, my first impression with the game was that it was quite slow. However, as you get into the game a little more, the pace seems to be just about right for the gameplay style...Still, it can be a bit tedious at times... As for difficulty and longevity..There are several villains and arenas to unlock by playing through the story mode with each Powerpuff Girl. These can also be unlocked with passwords that can be found online.Normally, the ability to unlock secrets would add to the longevity of the game, but there aren't many villains to defeat, and the game can be finished fairly quickly...I beat this game and unlocked all of the secrets the first night I played it...That's not to say it's easy...it's actually fairly difficult even on "easy" mode, probably to the point that it would frustrate some of the younger fans of the show. However, with so few battles to win, it becomes a matter of persistance rather than skill...fighting each villain over and over until you defeat them. After you beat the game, there's not much point to doing it again. Then it comes down to the simulator mode, a one or two player single battle game that becomes very tedious after about a day.In other words, it's very likely to become one of those games that sits on a shelf indefinitely after playing it for a day or two... Well, the bottom line is that it's fun for a while. It's definitely not an outstanding game.It IS somewhat violent..but those of you complaining about the violence might want to try watching an actual episode of the cartoon..If you're a big fan of the Powerpuff Girls, it's probably worth buying just to dust off every once in a while, watch the intro movie, and play a bit..For anyone else, I'd say it deserves a rental, but you'll find that even the rental period will probably outlast the enjoyment you'll get from the game...
The characters in this game move extremely slow.It makes it difficult and frustrating to play this game.I may not be an obsessive gamer, but I am 18 and have the necessary motor skills to play a freaking video game!So obviously there is something wrong with the game.I wish I had read everyone's online reviews before getting this game, because I would not have gotten it if I had.I would recommend getting anything from the Spyro series if you're looking to play a cute, fun game. You can actually get somewhere with those! Also, Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy is a cute game for girls.

Editorial Review While gameplay mostly consists of exploration, combat, and puzzle solving,Rion's powers add an inspired--although somewhat disturbing--gameplay twist. Inorder to perform psychic attacks, Rion must inject himself with variouschemicals. However, excessive use of his powers have an adverse effect on hishealth, which forces our adolescent junkie to ingest pills to counter the sideeffects. Although Galerians's stylized, computer-generated cut scenes give thegame a cinematic feel, there's an odd sense of discontinuity in this game. Thisis mostly caused by an annoying pause that occurs when your character movesbetween fixed camera viewpoints. In addition, there is a total lack oftransitional graphics during the disc load times, which occur when Rion isopening doors and such. --Joe Hon Pros: Features Reviews (22)
The gameplay has some blaring faults, mainly in the sense that the fighting is hard to control, and somewhat poorly designed. The whole drug idea is a cool one, in terms of storyline, but when it comes to actually playing out that idea, it can be annoying. You'll be constantly running around, searching for drugs to either heal you, protect you against "shorting out", or help you kill the bad guys.Other items are strewn across the game, such as keys and what not, to add a bit of puzzle-play to the game, but all it really does is slows the game down. When it comes down to it, the gameplay is very sub-par.But, the storyline, graphics, sound and overall atmosphere make up for it.The entire game is filled with chilling cinemas to depict the game's downright creepy sci-fi storyline. All of the environments are very imaginative and drip with style. This game isn't blatantly jump-out-of-your-seat scary like Resident Evil. It's closer to the subtle, psychological and atmospheric horror found in Silent Hill--but in a sci-fi setting. The game has a sinister air about it everywhere you go; you'll feel for Rion straight from the beginning, while being disturbed by the violent acts he commits, almost unknowingly.I would recommend this game to someone that is willing to sacrifice good gameplay for a unique, chilling plot, and superbly executed sound and graphics. But if you demand a game that focuses more on gameplay than ambience and aesthetics, steer absolutely clear of Galerians.
So, onto the basic premise of the game. You're a young boy named Rion. You wake up in a lab with no memories and an array of psychic abilities, apparently received while you were the unwilling subject for some sort of experimentation. You begin the game by escaping your restraints and trying to win your freedom. As you progress through the game's 4 areas, the story unfolds through character interactions and beautiful movies and images usually triggered by some sort of psychic flashback or intuition related to various objects and locations. The gameplay basically involves battles (that are usually few and far between) and puzzle solving (mostly of the "find items and keys and figure out where to use them" variety).Your main weapons in battle are your psychic abilities, enhanced by chemicals called PPECs.You start out with 2 offensive abilities.Nalcon allows you to send sort of an attack wave ...You'll get a 3rd ability (albeit a fairly useless one) halfway through the game. So, you're basically left with 2 fairly weak main attacks, each taking more than one hit at full power to take out all but the simplest of enemies. The game's weapon and healing systems all rely on drugs. You have certain amounts of offensive drugs in your system. When they run low, you have to inject yourself with more. When your health runs low, pop a pill. You also have "anger points" that rise just from walking around and rise more rapidly when you use psychic powers. This is due to the interaction of drugs in your system, and when the AP meter gets to high, you "short", which is basically a psychic overdose that leaves you walking around with a big migraine. The plus side:Every enemy you go near while shorting will die violently. The negative side:Your health will go south rather quickly until you stop the shorting by taking a pill called delmetor. Enemy battles are usually easy, except for a handful of very difficult end bosses that take a while to defeat and a few instances where enemies attack you 3 at a time, leaving you frustratingly unable to fight back.Strategy is limited, usually involving running around in circles until you have enough time to charge your powers and attack. As for the graphics and sound, they're both excellent for the Playstation. The general game graphics are nice, sharp, and detailed. The movies (which are the reason the game spans 3 discs) are also quite impressive. The sound is excellent, from eerie music down to the footsteps that let you know an enemy is pacing around the corner... The controls..well..they're annoying. If you've never played a survival horror game, the stiff controls will prove to be a great annoyance. If you're a survival horror veteran, they'll be a familiar annoyance.Having to charge up your psychic powers in order to attack with any effectiveness adds to the frustration as it's sometimes hard to target fast moving enemies while charging, leading you to miss often and waste your PPECs.. Overall, I'd say don't buy this game, rent it.It's a rather enjoyable game with a great storyline and entertaining puzzles. However, as I stated earlier, it will only last you a couple nights, and since the main thrill of the game is following the storyline and figuring out the puzzles, it has practically no replay value.

Editorial Review As you travel around the world, climbing and smashing buildings, leaving destructionand carnage in your wake, the only thing standing between you and a festival of urbandemolition is a paltry bunch of tanks, rocket-pack soldiers, and police cars. Even if theseguys manage to take you down, they pose no real threat--the game offers unlimitedreplays. What makes Rampage World Tour so addictive is the fun of punchingholes in buildings, downing planes with a single kick, and cannonballing thoughthe roof of the local courthouse. In two-player mode, you can also fight othermonsters, but the main fun of the game is still to be found in unrelentingdestruction of high-rises, hot dog stands, hospitals, and every other kind ofbuilding imaginable. In short, the game revolves around quick-and-dirty masscarnage. The graphics are true to the original game's style while being a strongimprovement over previous versions. The game interface is easy to learn, andphony news reports and the antics of Scumlabs scientists provide a humorousintermission between levels. So if you have ever wanted to grind the majorlandmarks of the planet under your heel and stomp out to sea, RampageWorld Tour is for you. Allen Stewart Pros: Reviews (11)
Might play ita while since I will make progress on it then i did on Kingdoom of hearts. If you enjoy this game I recomend Rampage 2 Universal tour and RampageWarp through time
I think I'll sell it the first chance I get. I don't care what kind of games you like, don't get this one at all.
