1-0 out of 5 stars swg d.o.a. of cu 4/26/05
cancelled ROTW expansion when CU hit.
cancelled SWG days later.
CU= death of SWG, and everyone knows it.

WE WILL NOT PAY TO BETA TEST A PIECE OF S#$% GAME SOE.

1-0 out of 5 stars CU Destroyed SWG
There has been a great disturbance in the Force, as though thousands of players cried out against the SWG "Combat Upgrade," and were silenced.

Star Wars Galaxies used to be an extremely fun, engaging game. However, as of the end of April 2005, the game has completely changed.Just read some of the other reviews here talking about the so-called "Combat Upgrade."SOE is losing a lot of customers because they ruined Star Wars Galaxies. Now, it's just a cheap EverQuest 2 clone with Star Wars skins. If you want to play fun Star Wars games, try Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic 2.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'Twaste your money!!!!
Here's an honest question then... I went to 6 different MAJOR cities and NONE I say NO ONE was grouping and I play in one of the most crowded galaxies)... so what am I suppose to do? I'm level 80 andgrinding Jedi (village points)... so I think ok ill give it try and try to FIND my level mobs to kill while I try to find a group, incappd, die, incapped, die, incapped, die, incapped die, etc...
I was soooo freaking frustrated I wanted to cry. So you saying that the ONLY way I can play this stupid game is if I hang around starports for hours on end and try to find some people to group with, THEN hope that they will actually fight when we get there, (which ive heard some people just sitting back in groups and raking in the xp for doing nothing), and I don't know about anyone else but after about 4 strikes to the creature im spent. I spend the rest of the time trying to heal myself (heal for 200 get hit for 1200, heal for 300 get hit for 1200...hmmm I wonder what comes next? incapped, die).
So seriously tell me how to play this game now if I can't group and I can't solo. Become a crafter or entertainer? Lol. Oh and BTW ALLL my friends have quit the game. And frankly im almost there too.
Gee you're right this is a better game, I love how I HAVE to depend on other people to get xp. And how if I wanted a well rounded char I have to get another acct (im sure SOE thought of that when dev this CU). You know and maybe people like to be alone sometime, to go exploring by themselves and not have to worry about being killed when I have to answer the phone, and may they like to watch their char fight instead of having to keep urn eye on the tool bar the entire time trying to gauge your next move...FUN!

Oh, and on top of it I just read that when you go to the higher level planets now and you die and don't have insurance you might wake to CYBERNETIC LIMB- and not a cool looking one like in the movies but a gross disgusting puny one that won't have any combat uses. (You'll have to get them taken off or replaced with another useful one) WTH????

Don't tell me these things are all bugs and just to wait till the devs get the head out of their a$$es. These are ALL actual gameplay problems that I would really like to have a serious answer to. Who has ever heard of a game released after 1 month of beta and NO game manual??? I have a master character and I still can't figure out all the crap they changed... why do we still have stimpacks if everything is "magic" based, and if everything is "magic" based why do I need an enhancer for everything? And why cant a MEDIC heal wounds or stop bleeding, wth is the definition of a medic then?

(OH and I haven't mention my other char who lost all his combat skill points to a buggy respec problem that cs says that MAYBE LATER they can get too, [is soe going to refund me for their buggy system since my husband hasn't been able to play for a week now?] or the metal recycler I was crafting that disappeared and im told SOL on that one too [a known bug that was supposedly fixed pre CU])

I cant speak for all the professions, just the ones ive come across playing my characters (I have 2 accts and 6 characters and my husband also has 3-4 character he plays) I was a master TKA which was one of the coolest professions before CU, now its worthless (I got incapped by a level 3 meatlump and I only have 3 moves- combo hit (which is not working) dizzy and knockdown. Well appartly EVERYTHING has resists to KD now so I really had 1 move and it didn't work (bug maybe)

The armor options are a joke- so I see everyone becoming a commando, or bounty hunter just to be able to wear half way decent armor, and the factional armor is joke too... you need fp just to wear it?? Wth... just being part of that faction should be enough. Bone armor for battle ...lol and who designed the retarded padded armor helmets... I look like I should be riding the short bus or maybe have a propeller on top of it.

*RANT*
What's the deal with A beloved Star Wars icon like Darth Vader hocking fan fest tickets... he is NOT SOE property to mock in any way they feel. I for one think it's in VERY bad taste and it truly offends me as a Star Wars fan to have him paraded like a clown.

This "game" is NOT Star Wars, anything star warsy about it is the remnants of a once beautiful game where a TRUE star wars fan could immerse themselves in something they had only dreamt about while growing up... now its just an abomination. The biggest problem I think is not the game itself, its company running the game and the TOTAL lack of respect it has for STAR WARS, its FANS and GEORGE LUCAS. I'm pretty sure he didn't ever imagine a star wars where all the fighters were on timers and they had special Tinkerbelle glitter evertime they did something, (and in game play what's the deal with my head looking like a siren when im blinded????) ... I don't know, I can't speak for him, maybe he did envision a company taking over the star wars name and making crap out of it... I for one am little less excited about the new movie coming out, little less excited about the hype of SW and the merchandise... I can take or leave it now. This is a sad thing.

What is really sad is all they had to do is maybe put a cap on some of the uber things in the last game and maybe tweak a couple of professions... that's it. Would some people still complain... sure they always did whenever something changed, but they probably would have just done what they always have done, and just got used to it. But instead they TOTALLY change the look and feel and the gameplay of the game giving you some thing completely different with out ever asking (at least I never received that question). I'm pretty sure if they would have they would have gotten the same responses as now...no... Just fix the bugs, and they would still have the thousands of accts in working condition. BUT I guess it's not our game (the paying customers), nor the overworked CSR (they have to be overworked with those terrible attitudes), nor is it George Lucas' vision anymore (I personally don't think he would let sooo many SW fans down)... it belongs to SOE. (A non SW, customer, CSR and George Lucas fan).

Well good luck SOE and I hope you do laugh all the way to bank, but after my subscription runs out you won't be laughing with my money.

This is only MY opinions and I had to say all this, to get it off my chest (this whole CU thing has made my literally sick), my husband has been pretty vocal on all this so far on the forums so figured since I loved this game as much as he did I should take a stand too. I'll be putting this in on every SWG review, post, and sending it to as many gamer web pages and to Lucas arts and to anyone else I can find. I only hope that other fans have done the same if they are serious about the anti CU.

PS. I NEVER thought I'd say this in a million years but I can't wait for *gulp* star trek to come out. :\

1-0 out of 5 stars SOE destroyed a wonderful game
When Star Wars Galaxies was first launched, it was an incredible and visionary game. The designers created a game like nothing that had come before it. The range of different roles available to players was incredible, and the virtual world was immersive and expansive.

Players got the feeling that they were living in the Star Wars universe, something that many (myself included) had dreamed of since Star Wars first hit theaters.

The games original combat system was highly sophisticated with a broad range of special abilities and a wonderfully organic feel, and players were free to engage in immersive and exciting PvE (Player vs. Environment) or PvP (Player vs. Player) adventure.

Recently Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) the maker of the game, has replaced the core engine of the game, with a new one called the "Combat Upgrade". Unfortunately this new system is lacking the vision and sophistication of the original game and is instead a lackluster clone of every other MMORPG on the market. This so-called "upgrade" has left the game flat and uninteresting and Sony is suffering a mass exodus of players.

I for one have played the game almost since launch, and have learned to expect the routine introduction of new bugs into the game. I have also come to expect some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced with any product. These shortcomings however have always been mitigated by the fact that this was (until recently) one of the most immersive and interesting games ever released.

Sadly this is no longer true. The game no longer holds my attention. My wife, daughter, and I have spent many hours playing this game and have many fond memories, but we no longer enjoy the game and find that most of our friends are cancelling their accounts. We will follow them.

Although I was once a huge fan of Star Wars Galaxies, I cannot continue to recommend it. This is now one of the poorest conceived games I have ever played. If Sony were to reverse the last publish, it would be a great game again, but as it stands it is not.

I strongly encourage potential customers to consider other options rather than buying Star Wars Galaxies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Subscription Fees
To clear up any misconceptions, Star Wars Galaxies subscription fees are as follows:
1 month - $14.99
3 months - $41.99
6 months - $77.99
12 months - $143.99

As you purchase more months at a time, the cost per month decreases. So since 60 days = 2 months, the cost is $14.99 x 2, or $29.98.

The game card is a good thing. You don't have to worry about your credit card on the internet. You can give them as a gift. And if you don't have a credit card, you can buy a game card and use that instead. The only problem is that you can only buy it for 2 months, so you don't get the discounts for more months.

As for the game itself, I enjoy it. It's quite addictive. It's a little tough to get started, but once you get going and joina PA (Player Association), you'll have a lot of fun. I recommend this game to any Star Wars or RPG fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm addicted!!!
I had a GBA for christmas and also had this game and the incredibles. When I tried it at first I was immediateley hooked. This is by far one of the greatest games I have ever played. It has got excellent detail and graphics. you can play as four characters( Shrek, donkey, puss in boots and the gingerbread man).Puss in boots is my favourite.I am going to give you a spot of advice" if you are looking for a game, buy this one,I reccomend it".Some levels are hard and some are not.You just want to know what happens next.THIS GAME IS AUESOME, BUY IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied number 1 for my favorite GBA Game
This game totally rocks! The graphics and sound are great and it is just perfectly put together. There are a lot of levels and the game lasts a long time. The three main charecters are shrek, donkey, and puss in boots. My favorite is puss in boots because he can slide and climb. Its not really an easy game, the levels are challenging enough to be fun, but they are not impossible. The game also explains the story line just in case you havent seen the movie.this game is #1 on my list (tied with mario kart super circuit)and is very good for everyone. This game is appropriate for boys and girls of all ages and is definately worth the money.(its also great for long car trips)

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughters are hooked on this game - HELP!
I had to write a review for this game.We have many games for for various formats, but they have been addicted to this game for almost three months. My daughters are 8 and 11, and we take a lot of long, boring car trips.I had to buy a second game to keep them from fighting over who gets to play it.
There aren't many gameboy games that my daughters like to play. They are not into fashion or destruction.Games don't have to be boy or girl products. They should be fun, creative, humorous, colorful, and challenging. The Mario games are good examples. This game hits the mark perfectly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game for all ages
This game is good for the entire family from ages. I love the game and its my 4 year old favorite movie and game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shrek 2 GBA
The GBA game Shrek 2 was a christmas present for my sister who absolutely adores the Shrek movies and everything associated with it. She completed the game finding it moderately hard and then got me playing it. I must admit this game is really fun but only occasionly is it so hard that you turn off the gameboy in frustration (only to turn it on again 3 seconds later because it's so fun and addictive). This game will entertain you and although i have not completed it yet my sister had completed it 3 or 4 more times.
It is a great game and will keep you entertained although it lost a star in fun rating becuase of it's occaisional difficulty.
I would reccomend this game to you if you are considering buying it and think you might like it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars good enough
typical of a lucasfilm star wars game.i,e, it's probably ok for kids, but that's about it.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Ok Game
This game is ok. The game is way to short and it is to easy if you put it on easy and is way to hard when you put it on hard. The controls are a little wired. The games grafics are good when you are in a velical they are not when your a person. The game is good but the control and the difficalty kind of mess it up.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game came with our system- not bad for Free!
We got this game and Tetris Worlds for free with the purchase of our xbox system. The graphics are great just like the movies and its actually a lot of fun.Its not really my type of game but i do like to play it occassionally. However, my husband really likes this game. Its one of his favorites, so it may be more of a guy game!I would suggest renting it first though before buying it unless like in our case it was one of the free games with the system.
Overall a good game.

3-0 out of 5 stars I really can't recommend this.
I've been a gamer since about 1988, and I've played a few Star Wars games over the years. If this hadn't come with my Xbox when I got it in December last year, I'm telling you that there'd be no way it would be allowed in my home. It's -that- terrible. Even Super Return of the Jedi for SNES is better than this thing, and that one was probably in the bottom 5 SW games. Heck, even Shadows of the Empire for the 64 has a better Star Wars quality to it. That at least had elements from the movies thrown in.

First of all, look at the price. It's more than Knights of the Old Republic for some reason, and KotOR is the single best SW game to date. I don't understand that at all. Clone Wars doesn't have a whole lot going for it in the replay area unless you have Xbox Live. The single player mode is highly repetitive and just becomes a chore to finish. Here's what goes on in the main game- you control Obi-Wan, Anakin or Mace, and mostly pilot ships in various terrains, protecting other ships or taking out each opposing force. And really, I can't use any other word than "boring" here, becuase that's all it was the first few hours I played it. If there's anything good about the piloting sections, it's that the graphics are above average, and the framerate doesn't suffer that much. There is a lot of jaggy-ness going on though, which is uncalled for in an Xbox game. Much less a port from the ps2/GC versions.

Then, there are the 3rd person "action" portions. These are a total joke. The first time you take control of the actual character is when you're Mace and go to shut down a droid control center. Mace painfully staggers through the level with horrible controls, and changing direction takes at least 2 seconds just to make a right or left turn. Imagine how MegaMan looked on the cover for the first NES game, and that's exactly how Mace plays. And guess what. You can't jump to avoid blasters or anything. All you can do is use Force Push, which has the saddest range of anything I've seen, blindly swing your lightsaber around, or throw it...leaving yourself open to attacks while you wait 10 seconds for the stupid thing to come back to you. And here Mace is supposed to be on the same level as Yoda as far as a Jedi goes. 'kinda hard to believe after this. It made me wonder if any other the other characters would be as bad. You have my word, they are.

Like I said about the graphics, there isn't much slowdown unless there are tons of enemies/ships on screen. And even then, you can adjust the camera to set it back to normal. Character models are blocky, and environments are pretty bare. There's also a feature that lets you set the screen to fullscreen or widescreen. This was a surprise. More games should include a feature like this to make the most of gamers' entertainment systems. There isn't a whole lot else to say here.

The music is what you'd expect in the SW universe. The usual orchastrated tracks carry the game and boost this thing from 2 stars overall to 3. Sound effects sound exactly like they did in the movies. But voices are whole new story. Obviously, the actors from the movies didn't take part in the game. Mace sounds a lot like Ice Cube for some reason, and Anakin sound even more painful/pubertyish than in Episode 2. Obi-Wan's the only one that gets even the slightest bit of justice in the vocal department. Extras ended up sounding better than the main guys. Sad.

I guess if you're a die-hard SW fan and like the new trilogy, you'll get into this. It's mostly planetary ship combat, which probably is a little fun on Live. But if you want a SW game that actually has the feel of the movies, get Knights of the Old Republic instead. This is more of just a mission game with the SW characters and ships slapped on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars great multiplayer
THe main part of this game is ok and I really enjoyed it. The multiplayer conquest is hands down one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played. It supports up to four players playing in any combination of teams you want. What I love most about it is the need for serious strategy, steady hands, and reflexes to win. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Suprise
I bought this game for two reasons. One was the fact that I wanted a baseball game for my PS2 and the other is that it was only $20 compared to the two other new MLB games which are $40-$50.I thought that for the price the game would be okay for me (a brand new baseball fan *cough* *cough* NATIONALS)and it would be a good beginner. It was that and so much more.First of all let me say that the gameplay is amazing. There are some flaws with the baserunning (I have messed up sometimes because it is rather confusing) but overall the gameplay is great. The AI is rather intelligent but acts human at the same time because it is programmed to make mistakes sometimes. The game offers many different game modes including: franchise, gm career, home run derby, in your face, etc. These different modes will keep you going for hours. The commentary of the game with Joe Morgan is rather usual (which isn't bad) and it makes you feel like you are playing in a real baseball game.Overall for the price of the game, the great concepts and new features the game gets an A.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Enough with EA Sports ALready
Listen, I love EA Sports games just as much as the next person, but when it comes to baseball games EA blows. MVP is so boring its ridiculous. The commentators are lame, the actual gameplay is so realistic that its annoying at times and can become unrealistic. I honestly don't get why everyone is so fascinated with EA. No matter how good another sports game might be, no one can ever admit that it is a better sports game than EA. If a game is good, its good: period!. Enough ranting, here is my review.

MLB 2k5 is a great baseball game, but not without its flaws. First off, it has much more replay-ability than MVP. This is one of those games where you really can play through a whole 162 game season. Pitching is really fun and challenging. I love it. The only thing that sucks is that there is a passed ball glitch in the game that can become frustrating, especially in close games. The difficulty levels are perfect and the commentators are the best: HANDS DOWN. Franchise mode is great and you can turn off certain aspects of the game, such as hitters eye, etc.THe graphics are way better than MVP and the ballparks are exact replicas of the real ones. Personally, i love turning double plays and making diving catches and it is just so much more fluid in this game than in MVP. Your supposed to have fun when you play a video game, not be frustrated.

NOw the cons: THe graphics can be a bit jumpy at times. Also, it is pretty hard to hit a pitch outside of the strikezone. The game does look kind of sluggish at times, but overall it's not enough to make you not like the game. Had the makers of this game slowed down a bit and worked out the kinks, there wouldn't be a discussion of which game is better.

IN closing, if you are looking for a really fun, realistic baseball game with great commentary and high replayability, then MLB 2k5 is your choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Baseball Game...Needs a Bit of Tuning
I just recently traded in MLB 2005 for this game. Am I nuts? No, I wanted a change of scenery.Mlb 2k5 gives me that change and more. But it lacks depth, or lacks anything at all, in certain areas, and I will be going over the pros and cons in this review.

Pros:

Graphics are pretty good. The players look real and the stadium sweeps look absolutely realistic.

The addition of a game overview by Carl Ravich is both fun and sometimes annoying. It is nothing but a timetaker to let the game load, so you do nothing except listen to him drone the pitcher's stats. It depends on who you ask about this one.

John Miller and Joe Morgan are nothing short of fantastic. Their commentary is always right on, and almost never repeats itself. It actually sounds like these two are at the game your playing.

Menu accesibility is good. I can smoothly go from one menu to another without having to autosave or something

The Franchise has covered almost everything they needed to cover

There are many different options on how to hit, field, etc.

I like being able to control the runner or batter, like if you want a guy to steal. However, it is incredibly easy to steal in this mode. I started to run after the pitcher threw the ball, the catcher threw a strike, and I beat it standing up. ???

Cons:

Franchise mode is not deep at all.If you set the computer to do your lineups, it plays two people as shortstop. How bizarre?

Batting interface kind of looks cheap. I don't like the look of the swing, or the way the running interface works. IT just feels kind of blah to me.

Fielding is completely random. You either make Ozzie Smith catches or throw to the wrong base or whatever.

The show-boat catches all look the same, and are an almost stupid addition.

Pro/Con:

This last depends on whether you like getting football scores are not. The slam zone.Basically when the pitcher makes a bad pitch a target appears. You can move your aiming target over this target and enter slam zone. Then the camera zooms in on the ball, then you try to power up and jack a 600 footer out of there. But sometimes, I'll have the meter completely filled up and I'll pop the ball up. Strange.

Anyway, this game is mixed. Though I like it better than MVP. ITs your choice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good , but not great.
This game was dissapointing because it had high expectations, but it isn't horrible. I don't like the pitching because it is pretty hard to get the two circles to get together, and the graphics are kind of choppy, but still good. The things that i do like are the home run derby's which have standard, score, Tag Team, and Team, the skybox is really cool where you get darts, pictures, air hockey, and much more, and i like the presentation a lot because it looks like you are watching a game on ESPN. Overall this is a good game, but I recommend MVP Baseball 2005.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Realistic!
This game is realistic and fun to play.Even though pitching is harder that other baseball games, it is very fun to play with my son Ryan. The downside of the game is that they mixed up the numbers the players wear.I like the realistic sound effects. It feels like I'm actually at a baseball game.My son likes the season mode!I had to do some work on the Brewers because they mixed up some of the numbers and didn't have some players. It's still a lot of fun. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun - Great songs
I picked up Donkey Konga (the first one) after I got Donkey Konga 2, because of the great song list in Donkey Konga. The graphics aren't quite as good, but it's just as much fun!

In essence you get 30 reproductions of songs to sing along with - from classics like Louie Louie to classic music songs, from Legend of Zelda to the Pokemon theme song. I really LOVE this song collection and think they provide songs that all ages will enjoy.

There are different levels of gameplay, from beginner to advanced. In fact, if you do really well, you can earn remix versions of songs and buy truly advanced versions to play along with. Plus, there are multiplayer versions that let multiple players play together or in competition with each other.

There are mini-games to test your skills, and a shop where you can trade in your earned points for new bongo sets.

I've heard some people say they get bored after a few months of playing the same songs over and over again. Heck, most games out there only keep your interest for a week or two! Plus, half the fun here is simply playing along. If you were in a band, would you complain on tour that you were tired of playing the same songs? :)

Really, you get all the fun of Donkey Konga 2 plus a far better song set. The minor drop in graphics really isn't a big deal at all. Of course it'd be great if, like with the XBox, you could simply download new song sets that you enjoyed. That way they could let you buy one game, and then download whatever types of songs you liked to sing. Kids could download the kid songs, adults could download the classic rock songs, and teens could go for the pop-hip-hop stuff. But until Nintendo gets its online act together, I don't mind them coming out with a whole series of Donkey Konga games, each with a different song set. I'll gladly collect them all!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun party game!
This game is a fun party game. We took our bongos up to a family gathering and had everyone in the house clamoring over them! It was a hoot!

3-0 out of 5 stars Grate game!
Donkey Konga, a mix of music, bongos, and (no other than) Donkey Kong. I only own about 5 Gamecube games because I like PS2 better. This is a pretty fun game. You get a whole bunch of songs and drum to the beat of it. The songs are not very new but.... what the heck! Some song are "Wild Thang", "All the Small things", and some gamecube game's theams. Like Zelda and Pokemon. There are mini gaems you can buy with coins you get from drumming in "Street Mix" But, you only get about (if your good) 200 coins every time. The lowest price for a mini game is 4700 coins. How the heck are you supposed to get that with out playing for hours and hours and hours. Plus, the songs are not by the bands that play them, but by people the nentino probley hired to sing. And it`s all because of one word. Copyright! Dang copyright law. That is what gives this game minus one star. Another star down the drain becaues all the minigame and songs for different modes and the fun sounds( Insteand of the bongs soung, you can do different souds, like dogs) cost WAY TO MUCH! I am hoping Donkey Konga 2 will be better

5-0 out of 5 stars fun all around
Okay, if your out for a game to teach your kids to count, this isnt something you need.now if you are looking for something to entertain your hyperactive cousin while his/her parents are out, then this is a really good idea.at first, it is kinda difficult to play because you feel alittle ridiculous, but i promise that feeling will pass.the only problem i have found with this game is it is EXTREMLY adictive.the rythym fills you and all of your problems melt away.everything seems trivial as you beat on the drums.but your hands do get pretty raw after about 3 hours of clapping and slapping.but like i said, its pretty hard to stop.if you have a hard time getting the kids to do chores now, wait till they start to beat the drums and play along to thier favorite songs.once you play you wont be able to wait for the release of the next game in this series!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game for kids ages 6 and up!
Although this game hurts your hands from hitting the bongos and clapping a lot, it's all worth it!You can play some of your favorite songs on this game and you'll go bananas for some of them!I really like this game because up to 4 players can play, even without the bongos. This game will get you off your feet and get you into the groove! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars This game is fun
This game is kind of fun but I get bored very easily when i started playing this game but I wish it had more games on here they seven games and thats not enough though but i still enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Advanced Preschool
We have used reader rabbit toddler and learning center (jump start) toddler and my 2-3 year old son enjoyed the jump start more. Now he is 3 and a half years old and after using reader rabbit personalized preschool for awhile, I have to say the Jump Start Advanced Preschool blew us away.My son responds to this game so well!Whereas he often shut down reader rabbit all by himself when he was done, we have to drag him away from the computer when he is playing Jump Start Adv Preschool. The main idea is that kids earn rewards for their baby animals by getting 3 things right in different categories (rhyming, counting, letter matching, etc.) I love the idea that he is rewarded by giving his virtual pet a treat or a bath, for instance, and I think what a great way to reinforce kindness and doing nice things for others and at the same time learn some skills.

Today we went back to reader rabbit preschool to finish it.In this game, kids complete several learning games to earn tickets for a carnival ride.I had to bribe my son with m&ms to get him to complete the last carnival ride games.Instead of letting him 'go' on the carnival ride, the program cut to a parade (since he had completed the game as well) and at the end of the parade it went to credits and then a reward certificate. Then the game crashed.None of his work was saved.I finally managed to get his work saved but the game still crashes if he goes back to the parade.

JumpStart Adv. Preschool also came with 2 other CD-ROMs: Language club and Art for Fun.My son really enjoys the Language Club as well and I feel like we really got our money's worth with this game.In terms of which games motivate him to learn, Jump Start wins hands down.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jumpstart Toddlers, Preschool and Pre-K
My 2 boys (ages 2,4) absolutely love the Jumpstart CDs. The older one has been using the Toddlers CD from age 2 - before he could use a mouse. While the keyborad can be used for most acitivites on the Toddler CD, the mouse introduction is fun and simple. There are activities appropriate to different ages and encourage independent play. I find that the kids enjoy being able to do it all themselves. These CDs keep my 2 rambunctious boys occupied for hours!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fairly good program but others are better in comparison
I got this program about 1 1/2 years ago when my son didn't know how to use a mouse yet.The product info. said mouse-clicking wouldn't be necessary, so I thought Jumpstart Advanced Toddler would be a good starter program for him.My children have really liked it, but I have been a little disappointed.I would recommend Reader Rabbit Preschool over this program. Not only is it less expensive, but I think it is more educational and more fun for the kids.In short, here is a plus/minus list for this game:
+The kids like it.
+Fairly good graphics, fun songs, etc.
+Variety of activities with two different play levels.
+Mouse-clicking not required for many activities.
+For younger kids just learning this is a fun choice.

-Mouse clicking still required for painting/art activities, and on games where it is not required, the "feather" must be held over the chosen activity for several seconds or else it will not work. This doesn't work for children with a short attention span or who can't hold the cursor steady for a while.Sometimes I couldn't even get it to work myself unless I held it in just the right spot.
-Like some other reviewers have said, the duck's voice is a little annoying.
-WE seem to get a lot of errors with this game, especially if the kids leave it running and the computer changes over to a screensaver.
-The two levels of play have to be changed manually with each game. There is no "intelligence" in the game to move from one level to the other once the simpler tasks are mastered.
-There is no "point" to the game, so to speak. You just go and "have fun" at and around "grandma's house."It is the same every time and you don't build up to anything or "accomplish" anything like in Reader Rabbit where you are working toward a goal and advancing.
-Comes in a 3-CD set and CDs have to be changed to go from Art to Music to Schooltime. For little kids, this is a bit annoying or could possibly destroy the CDs if you have kids that try to do it themselves and aren't careful.
-Long annoying song/instructions at the start-up of the game every time, and also song and credits at the conclusion.Luckily these can be skipped by clicking the mouse. This may be standard with a lot of games for kids though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game!
My son used this game at his grandmothers house starting when he was 3.He loves it.He will go in the computer room and stay in there for hours playing different parts of the game.Printing pictures, and catching the shapes, and doing the patterns. He doesn't enjoy the ABC side as much but that is just him.I recommend to anyone with a preschooler.I was very surprised by all the poor reviews.BTW, we use this on Windows 2000 and it runs great. No problems installing at all! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars more, more & more!!
POSTAL 2:apocalypse weekend his funnier blooddier & goreier
there is no freedom what to do like the orginal POSTAL 2 game so what ? this expention pack is equal the money

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing much is new or exciting....VERY SHORT TOO!!!
Postal 2 was an awesome game but by now...it is really too late for an expansion pack! The hunger for this game died over a year ago!

I finished this expansion in under 4 hours. YIKES!!! $20 for a measely 4 hours. It has limited re-play value too! Once you have played it, you have done it all. Postal 2 was fun to play again. AW is NOT!!! Why? Because it is too linear! Your enemy attacks are scripted. Basically, once you enter a certain section of the game, the attacks come. PREDICTABLE! Once you play it, you know when the attacks are going to come by heart. No surprises, no shock or thrill, no point! Just repetitive gameplay! Stand here, shoot at enemy - wash, rinse, and repeat!

The enemey AI is the same as Postal 2. They are not intelligent or clever in tactics. They are just aggressive and attack in groups. Go slow, take your time, focus on killing one at a time then continue on and you can easily beat the game.

There are numerous bugs and errors. You can't pee on your enemies. In Postal 2 you could. This is an admitted goof. They sent it off to manufacture before testing the most obvious things! This tells me RWS really slipped up! Your machine gun is still weak and inaccurate. The pistol is much more accurate and deadly, especially at long ranges! How silly is that? You get many General Protection Fault crashes and then have to restart the game. Sometimes I would load into a level only to fall through the floor of the level and die. No fix. I had to start the game from the beginning! There are other glitches and oddities too.

I am not the only one suffering from this. Check out the forums and you can see numerous complaints and RWS even acknowledges the screw ups. In their defense, these things happen and RWS will get a patch out I am sure.

For the record, according to the moderators postings in their ownforums, they admit that this game was designed for their own in-house play and fun. It was never meant to be released to the public. They loved it, thought the fans would like it and decided to release it to us. Fine. I am grateful.

****BUT.....you don't take a half finished, poorly done product, send it off in a rush to manufacture and then charge your die hard fans $20 a pop without thoroughly testing it and polsihing it up first!!!!!!!

By now, we should have been looking forward to or playing Postal 3...not a crappy expansion pack.

You get some new missions and some new weapons...big deal! The graphics are still outdated and tinny.

The game is now linear and very predictable! In Postal 2 you could go everywhere, explore and terrorize. In Apocalypse Weekend, you basically have nothing to do but go on to the next mission.

Save your $20 and use it towards the purchase of GTA: San Andreas which is due out June 7th 2005 - that is just days away!!!! Maybe the guys at RWS will get to play San Andreas and will learn what really good game design is all about! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A very average game.
I wasn't that excited about MX vs ATV Unleashed, so i decided to rent it. I'm just thanking myself that i decided not to buy it considering that it is an extremely average made game.

Graphics: The graphics in MX vs ATV Unleashed are very simplistic and resemble graphics that you might find in a Gamecube. (No offense Nintendo.)To put it in a better way, they are graphics that you would find in an average MX/ATV game.

Gameplay: MX vs ATV unleashed provides the gamer with many different gametypes which include freestyle, freeride, race cross, race the top and many more. The controls are fairly simple to memorize and ihave to say, it is fun once in a while when you bust off this huge trick giving you thousands of points. However, it still feels like you are playing the first ever made MX/ATV game, as not many changes have been made except for the gameplay types, a lot more have been added.

Audio: The music revolves mostly around rap/metal rock. If you like those music categories, you will like the soundtrack. If you don't, then you wont like the soundtrack. Its as easy as that.

Online: The online is probobly the best part in this game. It hardly ever lags, and you can go up against your opponent in many different gametypes including the ones that i previousely listed.

As a result, if you are a fan of these kinds of games then i guess it is worth adding to your collection, however if you are not, i would leave it on the shelf.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I purchased this game a few days ago with high hopes. I have been waiting for a good racing game featuring trophy trucks for a long time, and after I saw some in the game's trailer, I decided to give it a try.

At first, I was very entertained, as I hadn't played a dirt bike game since excite bike for the nintendo. It is somewhat satisfying performing tricks and racing on the bikes, however, this leads to my first and second disappointment, which is the driving physics and the graphics. To put it bluntly, RalliSport it isn't.Maybe I was expecting too much after many hours with RalliSport and RalliSport 2, but the game just isn't up to the level of other Xbox racing games.
Another disappointment is the collision detection.I find myself partially going through walls and hills more often than I would like.Another frustrating issue I come across, is landing jumps. Most of the time it is flawless, but other times, it seems like a landing is shaping up to be perfect, but the rider crashes. Other times, the rider "crashes" in mid air before the jump is complete. If these are just due to my lack of skill, then perhaps there should be a better tutorial.
My final complaint has to do with the "other" vehicles. The driving/flying of the monster trucks, trophy trucks, and helicopter is absolutely poor. There is no other way to describe this. Also, although I somewhat expected, the involvement of the other vehicles in the actual game is somewhat limited.
I should also mention that the menu screen is not well laid out. At first it is unclear what needs to be done to initiate a "career mode".It is also not clear how you have done on individual tracks before you select them...some type of box off to the side displaying stats would be welcome.

This game will provide hours of entertainment jumping and racing the bikes and atv's, but don't expect too much from any other aspect of the game.I can't believe I haven't purchased Ghost Recon 2 yet, but picked this up...wait for the price to drop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Off Road Game EVER!!!
This game is the best because there is a veriety of choices between what you can be ATV, Motorcycle, Helicopter, Plane, Sand Rail And MORE!! One Bad thing it king of takes to long to load each race. Grafics are super. There are also a lot of tracks you can unlock like Glamis. Another cool thing is you can choose wheather your a Motorcycle or ATV of haveing a 2-Sroke or 4-Sroke engine lots of optons for you bike and ride to have the way YOU like it. Overall a 5 star game and worth buying. ... Read more

Train Simulator takes the obsessive realism ofMicrosoft's best-of-breed Flight Simulator games down to earth. Sixreal-world rail lines are included from throughout history, includingthe Flying Scotsman line of 1920s England and the modern OdakyuElectric Rail commuter line in Tokyo. Attendees at the National ModelRailroad Association's August 2000 convention marveled at the game'spainstaking attention to detail. But this game is not a model railroadgame; it simulates the real thing. The game's developers traveledacross the world with cameras and microphones in order to authenticallycapture the trains in their natural habitats. Train Simulatorlets you experience the world's greatest trains in all their glory.

Train aficionados can drive the train, run the rail yard, or dive inwith the terrain editor and create the rail lines of their dreams. Oryou can just sit back, relax, and admire the beautiful scenery anddreamy click-clack of the tracks. --Andrew S. Bub ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for train lovers!
If your a train lover you will probally like it alot! IT allows you to be right up with the controls of many locomotives, it has superb graphics and great sound. If you are looking for realism this is the game for you. The sounds of the trains are exact and there is doppler effect. For those who don't know how to drive a train there is tutorials that teach you how to operate steam, electric and diesel locomotives. If you don't feel like driving you can take a train ride and be the passenger. The scenery is fantastic it looks just like it would in real life. The passenger trains are very fun to drive, beacause you on a tight shcedule and there are many hazards along the way such as animals on the track, wheather, damaged track, broken signals and more. It also provides the challenge of freight trains. Also there are hundreds of downloads and add-ons for it! So if you like trains and realism I highly recomend this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad, bad, bad
Unless you need something to put you to sleep, you can skip this one.Given, It was originally published in 2001, so the graphics could be much better, but in the end this is just a very boring game.Essentially, you get to drive a range of different trains, but there is none of the strategy you find in something like Rail Road Tycoon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun
I purchased this game a couple of years ago, after the initial release. For one reason or another, I ended up getting rid of it. But I just had to re-purchase this game. It was a little cheaper this time around, considering the game has been out some time already.

My decision to purchase this game, twice, should reflect how much I enjoyed this game.

I personally like to play a "free" activity, and my favorite is to take the steam engine on the Northeast Corridore tracks. When driving any of the trains, play with full manual controls for the best effect.

The steam engine has a slightly steep learning curve, but it's definately worth it. Twisting the valves, opening the firebox, shovling coal, all these things (when done manually) can lend a great sense of realism to the game. To the point where I can imagine myself sweaty and grimy, sailing ~60mph trying to keep this infernal contraption from derailing! And yes, make sure you turn derailments ON, and switch to an external view as you realize, with horror, that you just cannot make that curve...

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Experience-Gotta love Trains
I totally agree with the Customer from Idaho and others - it really gives you a real life experience, and can bean"addictive" experience
I run it on Windows 2000 and have no problems of downloading and crashing.I hesitate to say but have the impression Windows XP doesn't have enough "steam" for it.Also you need a good graphics/video card.My real joy is driving the steam trains - Deisels don't have the same degree of difficulty - !!!! Ever slid back down a steep gradeor gone nowhere with a Deisel.

5-0 out of 5 stars Train Sim.
I really enjoyed this game. When i first bought it i had a little problem installing it but that was on behalf of my computer. The game is very realistic, it clears your mind, and helps relax you. There are some challenging parts but what game is fun when you can beat it in the first hour you play it. I gave this game 5 stars because i really like the softwear Microsoft makes. So if anyone is interested in Trains then this is one of the best games on the market money can buy, and not to mention this game is cheap. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
My issues with IL-2 Sturmovik include taildragger taxiing (they taxi exactly like a tricycle in the game), no groundloops, no roll inertia at all, scripted spins ("Oleg's Banana Peel Stall" and automatic spins even when plane has no torque and stalls are perfectly coordinated), no difference in dive acceleration between planes, hugely incorrect torque (no rudder input necessary, torque affects twin engined planes with contra-rotating propellers, torque present with engine off), Russian differential braking system on all Western planes (especially annoying for someone who is accustomed to the real thing), and incredibly simple "realistic" engine management (they even took out the P-40's mixture control in one of the patches; don't ask me why, because you can see the control right there in the cockpit).

Here's a few other things I've noticed. You can keep flying a constant circle at very low speed while your wingtip is touching the ground, when in real life you'd be cartwheeling. If you touch wings with another aircraft in the air or on the ground, you lose your wing no matter how gently you touch. So much for the historical tactic of wingtipping V-2 rockets (something the game manual claims you can do). If you are out of fuel and ammunition and you hit the ground hard, you still detonate - what? You can drop a five thousand pound bomb two feet away from a tank, and it won't hurt it because you didn't hit it. You can tear about the sky on full throttle all day, and when you start to overheat, just pull back the throttle for a few seconds, and hey presto - you're good to go again. And don't get me started on the fifty caliber issue. In addition, none of the planes behave like a real aircraft. I can only go with my instinct, observations of warbirds, and limited experience with Cessnas on that one.

My single largest issue is the fact that there are no stalls in the game, discounting spins. You cannot stall your aircraft. You can spin it, but you can't stall it. That's one of the most important parts of flying, and it's done completely wrong.

And I haven't even mentioned the incorrect individual aircraft peformance specifications and characteristics.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific fun at any difficulty level
I'd direct your attention to the review by Oesau, below.Very balanced and spot-on.I enjoy the game very much, and look forward to a flight or two each evening.

I don't understand some of the criticisms, here.Pacific Fighters is not arcade-like at all.The player has full control of many, many settings for difficulty and complexity. You can make it as challenging as you like.Even at simpler settings, it's not easy.I've played it for hundreds of hours, and landing on the carriers is still pretty tough for me.Do-able, but tough, and very satisfying.

I gave it 4 stars overall, and I'll tell you why.The documentation is pretty slim. The Readme files on the basic install and with the patches are critical, and still not complete. For instance, the Readme mentions how to pull the wheel chocks, but it nowhere mentions that they are in place at the beginning of every carrier-based mission, and they do not appear on the external views of your aircraft. You can sit there all day at full throttle, and you're not going to move until you pull them.Considering how much enjoyment I get from this game, that is a fairly minor aggravation, but the online communities are very important for getting past "newbie" questions like that. The forums at UbiSoft and SimHQ are full of people who are very helpful, even when answering the same question over and over from new owners of the game.

It does take a fairly powerful machine to run it.The faster your machine is, the more intense will be the feeling that "you are there."The artificial intelligence of the enemy pilots is pretty decent, too.I've been impressed several times at the "imagination" shown by a computerized enemy as they clobbered me.

Bring your patience and get this game. You'll be very well pleased.

1-0 out of 5 stars Let the buyer beware
My advice to anyone who is interested in buying this game is to wait until it hits the bargin rack. In my case the game refused to load, the program would not recognize either of the cds. The label states the game contains technology to prevent copying which may conflict with some drives. Believe it! The ubisoft support page requires you to provide lots of personal information in order to be told that the problem is with your computer, perish the thought that there would be anything wrong with their software.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a clue as to what a flight sim is you'll know...
"Pacific fighters" is an exquisitely crafted immersion that conveys an intense emotional and intellectual portrait of what it is to be a WWII combat Aviator. Its not really a "Game" although it is sold as such. Its experience asks a lot from the user. To enjoy this simulator the user must know flight basics thoroughly and understand combat flight tactics at least a little bit to begin with. On top of that it takes a very powerful and fast machine to run it well enough to have fun with it. (I have a thousand dollars invested in my machine to run this 40.00 game.) But OH HOT DAMN it is fun!

If you don't have the fastest machine and need to understand the basics of flight a little better but you're still interested in a WWII flight sim I would recommend Microsoft combat flight simulator 2 pacific theater. It has a realistic flight model and comes with a great manual that explains what you need to know on top of that it offers some features like radar that make 16 plane engagements easer to understand and fly. There is Il2 sturmovik which is an excellent and beautiful sim that requires less that the fastest machine to run, it's a little bit more complex though and doesn't have a manual to speak of. There are some great sights on line that will help you learn what you need to know. Of all the combat flight simulators "Pacific fighters" is the caviar but some people think that's just stinky old fish eggs.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unfinished release, wait for the finished product
They made their release deadline, but at what cost?

You have to get a patch just to get started, then some of the area maps are missing, {how can you attack Pearl Harbor when it's not there?}, some aircraft they said you could fly,... well... you can't, and the patches are already up to 3.4 and megabytes of fixes...... maybe they'll come out with the finished version sometime.... otherwise buy it for $0.01 and find patches online, just to see the intro! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Better Than Advertised
From reading all of the criticism of this guide, I almost didn't buy it.I did, though, and am glad I did.

I'm not sure what other people expect from strategy guides but this one satisfied my criteria of (1) enhancing the overall game experience and (2) helping me through a few rough spots. You are given fair warning of spoilers and solid advice on developing your character.

Maybe my expectations are modest but I got my money's worth and so will you - especially now that the price has dropped.

BOTTOM LINE - I enjoyed the game more for owning this guide.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done...
...but that's about it. I mainly used this guide to familiarize myself with the game mechanics and details. That part of the book is pretty well done, although it could have been organized a bit better.

Further down the road, I found this book to be more of a cheat-sheet, than a true strategy guide. I read the book after I finished certain parts of the game to make sure I wasn't missing any side quests. Beyond that, I only found it to be of limited use throughout the quests, because reading it would ruin your game experience. Of course, if you really got stuck, it might be helpful, but that didn't happen to me.

The stats part is a bit disappointing. I didn't find it to be too useful. Overall, I would have wanted a bit more help with the overal game strategy. How do I go about making my light sabre most powerful? Not sure. It's as easy or hard without the book as it is with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Aunorganized mess of information......
I was very impressed with KOTOR, and also lost a bit, so I decided to grab this guide from the shelves of my local gaming store. While it has helped me for a few things that needed to be done, it isn't exactly easy to find this information. Text is mixed up and unorganized, and sometimes the information isn't detailed enough. Battle strategies for Bosses and other fights is almost non-existant, which can be frustrating if you need tips for a group or certain type of enemy. I also noticed that some puzzles aren't even mentioned in the guide.
And probably the biggest thing of note, this guide does have a HUGE amount of spoilers. Though it has warnings for a few of them, most may find this as a huge turnoff.
If your looking for some help, this guide does help in some cases, if you don't mind digging for the information and wading through spoilers. But more than likely, you'll probably just end up going to gamefaqs or another gaming site to get more clear information.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mocks a great game
Look, this game is sooo much funner without this guide...this guide only gives away things. Its not hard either so theres no reason to buy a guide for it

1-0 out of 5 stars fairly useless book
The maps were available to look at, but most of the events or special items that were denoted were impossible to discern from the text. As far as a walk through goes, I felt that the missing pieces of information were fairly aggravating. ooo, I found a box with a trap and a puzzle that appears to be based on information that is not available to me, what does the guide say about it? nothing. here's a list of bounties I can collect, how much are each worth? can I negotiate higher ones? what is the best way to persuade people? already I want to toss the dumb thing in the waste basket. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars as kiddy as it gets, but there's quite a bit to it
I have played many of Nintendo's franchise games, and I have never seen a game so completely presented for kids as this game.I'm not a kid, but if I remember right, even a kid doesn't need a little twinkly star telling them 'This game's absolutely packed with fun.'For the first half hour the game just presents you with super-colorful image after sickening colorful image as you prepare your 'passport', a prerequisite to playing the game.

But after that, and after you get over the presentation so kiddy that it will make young kids sick, this is a nice game.Don't expect a party like earlier Mario Party games; this game is almost all for one player.Basically, its main mode has you driving around town running simple errands with limited gasoline, and to keep your car gassed up you have to win frequent mini-games.And most of the mini-games are pretty fun, especially if you learn them and try to set new records in the 'free play' mode.

You will meet many characters from past Mario games as you play.I know this is kiddy too but this I don't mind; I'm a Mario fan.I especially liked meeting the big round slime that was a boss in Yoshi's Island; the characters will bring back memories for a Mario fan as you explore town.

This game is enjoyable; not that enjoyable but enough to keep you coming back. That is if the childish presentation doesn't make you vomit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a party.Just a long quest.
This game is not exactly a party game. All you do is drive on a mushroom car around shroom city. You do like 50 quests and earn gadgets. The only characters playable is Mario(of course),Luigi,Peach, and Yoshi. But it is still a cool game.It even includes a Party Board for Multiplayers with only four characters playable. It's just an addition if you want to party, with four people. And you use your gameboy in a cool, yet weird way.And yes i almost forgot to tell you that it does have mini-games,and micro-games.Just buy it and you might like it.Just dont expect you can unlock new characters. And you get to put your information, and secrets. So if you and a friendbattle in mini-games and beated you,he might get a chance to view your passport and secret! And yes there is a multi game(4-players)and it is a penguin race, which you dont control it, you just guess which one you think would win the race.....Very surprising!Yet there are a lot of missions and some are hard so it might get you busy if you want to complete the game.Enjoy getting those missing mini-games!

3-0 out of 5 stars okay but not what I expected
I really expected more from Mario Prty Advancce. The console games were so much fun as you went around the board to get the star. In this one, there is NO star but you have to fill quests. The mini-games aren't nearly as good (I LOVED dungeon duos and order up from mario party 4) but still okay. -overall okay

5-0 out of 5 stars good toy
