Amazon.com Review

In 2001, Sega and developers Visual Concepts--the same people who brought you the NFL 2Kx series and other sports games--turned out a solid console baseball game that was a major improvement on the previous version and the first with head-to-head Internet play. This version for the Xbox marks a similar leap in quality, combining some of the best features of its competitors into one well-considered whole. Alas, the only thing missing is Internet play.

Going beyond motion-capturing batting stances (there are 89 distinct ones in here by my count), they've done a great job of animating pretty much every aspect of the game in pitch delivery, fielding, and base-running. The instant replay system, which borrows from and improves upon the one seen in the High Heat series, allows you to move the camera anywhere on the field to see the realistic movements at any speed. You can also use the feature to see the game's sophisticated artificial intelligence--for example, there's a brief, realistic delay when a player tags up from third on an outfield fly.

There's also a solid pitching game that lets a starter like Tim Hudson get off without a shelling when pitching heat down the middle, but try it with a pitcher like Byung-Hyun Kim and you're bound to see different results. And the TV-style zone chart shows which locations each batter is best at connecting to and where your sequence of pitches has landed.

A number of the new features are so obvious that you may wonder why you've never seen them before. One is a controller map in the pause menu that quickly shows you exactly which buttons perform the task you want. An option is also included that sets the relative speed of pitches to the plate. This really comes in handy when coming from another baseball game like All-Star Baseball 2003 where pitches seem to blur to the plate.

To put it bluntly, the game has almost no downside. There are some very powerful GM and manager functions--including a fantasy draft and exhaustive franchise tools--though using them is somewhat counterintuitive. Stealing is kind of tough to pull off; in one game, Ichiro got caught twice out of three attempts. And, as stated above, there's no Internet play--but that gives us something to look forward to for next year. --Porter B. Hall

Pros:

  • Realistic player movement
  • Smart AI
  • TV-style zone chart marks hot and cold areas for each batter
  • Variable pitch-appearance speeds

Cons:

  • No head-to-head play over the Internet

4-0 out of 5 stars Franchise
The franchise mode for this game is unbelievable as you can now watch your players develope throughout their entire careers. Cons of this franchise mode is that there are glitches such as during the middle of the your season your lineup may be discomobulated by the computer. The gameplay sucks as it always has. World series 2k1 is by far the best baseball game ever. So if you want pitches to come in unbelievably slow then this is the game for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stats dont even carry out through carrer, game [bad]
I bought this game after reading how great it was and I found out after many hors playing that is is a patheticclly boring game. Theres no salary cap and stats dont carry through careers. dont buy this gam trust

5-0 out of 5 stars i love this game!!!!!!!
i love this game because of the great franchise mode and how real the players look. it also has great gameplay and features.

4-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT GET....
DONT GET THIN GAME.THE HOME RUN DURBEY IS NOT EVEN REAL HOME RUN DERBEY.THE GRAPHICS ARE REALLY BAD AND THE HEADS OD NOT EVEN LOOK LIKE WHO THERE SUPPOSED TO BE.ALSO IF THEY DONT HAVE A PICTURE FOR A PLAYER THEY DRAW HIS FACE.THIS GAME ALL AORUND IS REALLY REALLY BAD SO DONT GET IT...YOUE BETTER OFF GETTING Tripple Play Baseball!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than a kick in the face
I read some people's problems with getting the computer to swing out of the zone, getting the computer to take walks, and especially stealing.

I think diehard baseball fans would have less of a problem with that stuff.I had absolutely zero problems with any of those things on the All Star mode.I didn't have a problem hitting too many home runs.I didn't hit more than 45 with any player on my roster, and some everyday players didn't hit 15 for the year. Now, my batting cursor was on small, so maybe that did it, but I don't know what to tell you there.

My problems revolved around the number of absolute BLOCKBUSTER trades that went down and the lack of a jump button.First off, you just really need to be able to jump.Secondly, Giambi was traded FOUR TIMES in my game . . . WITHIN THIRTY DAYS.That's just plain laughable.Sosa was traded three times within 60 days.Clean those two things up, and I think you've got one heck of a game. ... Read more

The latest incarnation of NBA Live has a slew of new features, like freestyle control, which lets you use the right analog stick to express your game with the step-back move. The game also offers triple-threat moves and pass interceptions. There are significant changes to the rebounding logic so players react in a more realistic manner to missed shots. Over 30 new rebounding animations allow for a wider variety of pulls off the glass. Motion capture, which was performed with two to four athletes simultaneously, is used for specific contact situations like post moves, pick-and-roll plays, and drawing the charge.

Enhanced CPU logic and AI allow for more effective fast breaks and open players who can cut to the hoop for scoring opportunities, as well as fine-tuned turbo buttons that afford players an array of in-game strategies. There are enhanced player movements, including dribbling, player-specific signature moves, and more responsive shot blocking. In addition, real NBA coaches roam the sidelines, and there is dramatic camera coverage of in-game and out-of-play sequences. You will hear what it's like to be on the court with all-new player calls, as well as court and arena sound effects. Classic jerseys give players a chance to relive their teams' glory days in authentic gear. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's all right......
This game is all right. It has all-stars from 1950 up till now, but even in Rookie mode, the computer always makes 3 pointers and you almost can't. There is one on one (nba player against nba player, like a hussle)mode, season, franchise, and normal games and practices. Also, you can't steal much. Everytime you try to steal, you get fouls. That's why I gave 3 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best b-ball game out
Wow!!!
Nba live 2003 is great. From throwback jerseys to play in to the new freestyle mode its like your in the game. By using the right thumbstick you can do crossovers, pumpfake, do a defensive crouch, make a perfect steal and whatever kobe or t- mac can do. BUY IT!!! Its the best one of its kind out. Nba live 2004 should be just as good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage...might as well burn your money
You will like this game if you like shooting 70% and still losing, CPU making 40 ft threes at will in the 4th quarter, glitchy graphics where CPU players pass through you on the way to the basket, countless missed layups and airballed open threes by your players, and watching Zhi Zhi Wang shake-and-bake to the basket while faking out three defenders lined up side by side. The disc made a nice frisbee as I sent it into the wall...too bad it wasn't sturdy enough for another toss.I would hope 2004 is better but I'm sure it will be the same [stuff].

5-0 out of 5 stars Killer Graphics, Killer Players, Great Game
To sum up the NBA Live 2003 experience, it was GREAT!

I had only rented it, but during my play NBA LIve 2003 was one of the greatest games I've played. You don't get tired of this one. Even though I kind of didn't know how to play at first, once you get the hang of it, you've got it.

Here are somethings I like about the game:

Killer Graphics, Players
Alot of Teams to choose from
Pick your shirts, customize your team to the max

What i Did not like:

Directions don't really explain alot.
Hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you got it going on
They come out with one every year. Uh-OH! More money down the drain.

The NBA Live 2003 experience was fun, hard at times, and challenging. I would reccomend this game to any basketball, or "I'm waiting for a challenge" kind of person. It is currently avaliable.

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought a lot about a basketball sim...
I spent a long time thinking about which basketball game i should by for the XBOX. I thought about what i wanted in a basketball game. Graphics, Realism, Dunks and origanlity. NBA Live 2003 is very realistic, especially with that new right joystick thing! You can do anything! NBA Live 2003 really shines with the dunks and moves. ORIGINALITY IS WHERE NBA Live 2003 DUNKS OVER THE other games (no pun intended). SOmething new in a basketball game is something that you dont see alot, they all have shooting and all, but NBA Live 2003 lets u have complete control over the game!

BUY THIS GAME! Listen to someone that has played every basketball game on the xbox console. NBA 2k3 , starting five, and inside drive fall way short of NBA Live 2003! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Sports fans with little interest in video basketball games may want to rethink their stance after getting a look at Sega Sports' NBA 2K3. They--not to mention hardcore basketball simulation enthusiasts--will likely find it hard to keep from being drawn in by the game's picture-perfect detail, engrossing realism, and challenging gameplay.

Like NFL 2K3, NBA 2K3 is presented in the patented ESPN style. The game has all the sights and sounds of the NBA: the pomp and circumstance of pregame introductions, accurate arena recreations, realistic player animations and sizes, and fluid dribbling and shooting (including crossover moves and the ability to change shot direction in midair). All of this is accentuated with special touches such as alley-oops, tipped shots, the ability to make passes on the fly, fierce rebounding battles under the basket, and the added drama and excitement of the ball bouncing off the rim before it either falls in or goes awry.

NBA 2K3 offers a host of moves and modes on either side of the ball with 25 offensive and 10 defensive plays from which to choose. Throw in fully customizable strategy options--everything from player clutch factor to computer shot tendencies, not to mention all types of shot percentages and fouls--and it's easy to create the ideal match up and game environment. The limitless roster manager feature also ensures that league and franchise modes won't get stale.

Street mode offers a break from the grind of NBA play, allowing you to go two-on-two or all the way up to five-on-five in nine playgrounds and gyms. Pick your favorite players from current teams or choose greats from the '50s through the '80s and go at it as the Ballers vs. the Ringers. Street even features requisite trash talk such as "Yeah! You like that?" and grunts backed with "Get some!" --Larry White

Pros:

  • Accurate, eye-catching graphic representation
  • Challenging artificial intelligence
  • Realistic gameplay
Cons:
  • Blocky player movements
  • Players celebrate with fans after key shots
  • Lob quality of passes

5-0 out of 5 stars Great basketball game for Xbox
If you want a great NBA basketball game for Xbox that's affordable and fun, then look no further. NBA 2K3 is a full-fledged NBA game and has all the features that you'd expect in a quality basketball game-great gameplay, nice graphics, and nice sound effects.

This game is also a really cool multi-player game. On my XBox I play with my brothers and you can play 4-players. This game is very comprehensize and there are a plethora of options. You can pick any team in the NBA, and play any way you want. You can make up your own players and play streetball. You can play a practice game or practice free throws (which are kind of hard, you need to press both triggers). You can turn off all the rules like backcourt violations and 3-second violations.

The graphics in this game are excellent. The use of lighting effects is really nice, and the game movements are very lifelike. This game definitely shows off the power of the Xbox graphics engine.

Overall this is a great basketball game for Xbox. It's a very good choice compared to the other basketball games for Xbox.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun, once you get the hang of it
I have played a lot of different basketball games for a number of consoles, all the way back to EAs first foray into basketball games with the Sega Genesis. This game is one of the best ever. One downside is that it takes a while to get used to the game's game play.I started playing on the "average" difficulty setting, and promptly lost 10 in a row playing superior teams vs. inferior ones!I put it down to "easy" and got the hang of the game, and am enjoying the game more and learning its secrets.

Some valid complaints: the passing game isn't 100% solid. Many times players will stop once the ball is passed to them, standing still until the ball gets there. This is infuriating when you're trying to orchestrate a fast break. Also, the computer's point guard does a bevy of moves to always get by me.Seriously, I think each game the guy I'm guarding throws up 20-30 points, 90% of them in crazy layups.

Sometimes you foul a guy and it looks like it was a foul on the groud, but they give the guy free throws. That is, the refs in this game are very loose on their definition of "in the act of shooting."You might foul a guy and then he takes two big steps and does a layup and they count the shot.I guess that's a lot like the NBA, though, huh?:-)

If you are a true basketball fan, this game is worth picking up.There are some cons to the game, but nothing major. Also, you can tweak settings (like how often the computer tries to drive vs. shoot jumpers) to help mitigate what are perceived as unfair computer advantages. Also, XBox Live support is present, which is killer.

5-0 out of 5 stars 2K3
This is the same as playstation2 verison i love all ov the 2K's this has better graphics then playstation2 but this is a good gane overall.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect? Not yet. But the best NBA simulation yet!
NBA 2K3 has teamed up with ESPN and they are a killer tag team. You get the ESPN update at the half and after the game along with ESPN themed menus and added ESPN touch during the game. Alongside with the game's stellar graphics, the added ESPN touch makes for a realistic simulation game like no other.

Gameplay
Discouraged at first, I did not play too often. This was the first year that I bought the NBA series. The controls and gameplay were new and seemed difficult to learn. But, I started a franchise and got to know the buttons and I started to take advantage of some of the player moves like the crossover and spin move. Soon, I was tearing up the court. Passing is a breeze with either quick passing or the more traditional approach of hitting the pass button, then choosing who you want to pass too. Two difficult areas are defense and rebounding. Especially defense. It seems like whomever I guard ends up being a superstar. This, luckily, can be fixed with the gameplay sliders in the options menu. You can change a number of things to make the game more realistic. NBA 2K3 might not be the game for someone who cannot play too often and who wants an easy win but for the rest of you simulation fanatics, this game is well worth getting used too.

Graphics/Sound
The graphics are great. The game runs beautifully with the XBox. The replays at the end of just about every single play but you can turn them off. The detail is incredible. From the exact Arena designs, to the detailed players, the display off the game does not miss a beat. The sound is also great. On the court, you will hear various sounds as the crowd chattering, the players and coaches calling out plays, the PA announcer and the PA music, and, of course, the running commentary. Overall, the commentary is very good. You rarely hear something and say, "Didn't he just say that a few minutes ago?"

Play Time
2K3 will keep you coming back. With it's franchise mode and the addition of XBOX Live, there is no reason to stop playing. You can create yourself and put him on your favorite team and try to get him to become an All-Star or you can take the worst team out their and try to turn them around. With off-season modes such as draft scouting (you can also import draft classes from NCAA 2K3) and workouts for the players, you have the opportunity to make any team a winner. How you do it is up to you. XBOX Live adds a few new elements to the picture. The first is roster updates. Sega has released three updates so far, adding such players as Yao Ming (Ming Yao in the game due to contract problems) and adjusting the line-ups as such teams as the Sonics and other teams who have made some trades. The second new element that comes up is playing against other people on-line. The system is not perfect as some people will do anything to win, but the experience is still enjoyable. I have played with people all over the country. If the franchise and other various modes don't keep you coming back, XBOX Live will.

Conclusion
There is still room for improvement which means that you might want to wait until NBA 2K4. But for those of you who just cannot wait that long, you will not be disappointed with NBA 2K3. It is the best basketball game out at the moment. With a combination of smooth, detailed graphics, great sound, tremendous gameplay and very good replay value, I give NBA 2K3 a solid 9 out of 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars nfl blitz 2002
it rocks!!!!!!!! i am really glad i bought an xbox because not is it only fun but the graphics and gameplay is awesome. and i think it is okay to make suggestions but i hate it when people give a great game a bad rating because of little things. like every game should not be sold out...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Football Game
When you purchase NFL Blitz you are getting a great Arcade Football game. You are not however getting a great Football game. Here's the difference.

NFL Blitz is a very fun enjoyable game with hard hits, imaginative commentary and very fast game play.It is a great game to play against a buddy because the hits and commentary make the game a social event.Playing by yourself is a totally different thing. For instance, if you prefer to grind the ball down the field, amassing 3 rushing yards per play while executing a NFC East type offense, avoid this game at all costs.

You can pick this game up and start playing with little or no practice. This is, both an advantage and a disadvantage. For one, no matter how much you practice, the games moves as such a fast pace that planning and practice make little difference. It is a game of reflexes, the faster the better. The graphics are great, the hits are fierce and the total game environment is above average.

There is no problem with recommending this game, just be aware that you are getting an arcade football game that is totally apart from a simulation or even half a simulation for that matter....

Hope this helps...

Go Giants!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rules
I'm a huge fan of the nfl blitz games. What makes them so good are the user freindly interface, the addictive fun and the arcade cade like feel after all it is the 3rd sequel to game based on a arcade game also the controls are ultra simple and easy. I love this game. I don't care about the create a player features and a all of the sports stuff. I just like playing the football game. I love its arcade like gemeplay. If you're for a realistic football game look elsewhere. But if you want endless hours of arcade style football fun get this game. And get it while they've got this bargain price. The graphics I don't no but I think the NFL blitz the first version had better graphics because I played it in the arcade before and on my N64.
Pros: Arcade like feel
User freindly interface
Ultra simple controls
Very fun and addictive
Graphics are pretty good but on the xbox they could of made them ten times better
Cons: NfL blitz one for N64 and arcade have better or equal graphics the psx graphics are probaly awful for NFL blitz one

5-0 out of 5 stars blitz 2002
Blitz 2002 is now better than ever. in my opinion it is one of the best games. it is fast paced and really hard hitting. Blitz is also a great buy ... there are a bunch of cheats ... BLitz 2002 is also a great multiplayer game. the graphics are easily the best out there...

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice graphics, iffy controls
I just got NFL Blitz for the Xbox last weekend. I had played the PS2 version before and with that in mind, this game is an exact port of that version. The graphics are a lot sharper with the anti-aliasing of the Xbox however. The sounds are pretty much the same.
Gameplay is similiar to the Blitzes of old, but with the inclusion of newer plays, animations, and a extra man who is like a wild card of sorts. On offense, you can have him stay to block, hand off the ball to him, or get open. On defense, you can have him blitz or stay in coverage. This new feature doesn't add or detract to the game. It makes Blitz 2002 a little bit more different.
The pacing of this game is a lot slower than before. I've played the original Blitz and Blitz 2002 3dfx PC versions and those have a much higher framerate than this Xbox and PS2 version. This version has the pacing of NFL Fever, which gives the game a totally different feeling. I guess you just have to approach this version of Blitz differently than previous versions.
The controls are my biggest concern. You are limited in the mapping of the buttons as with the PS2 version. The biggest gripe is that the turbo button is the right trigger by default. There is so much play in the Xbox control's triggers that it's almost impossible to double tap for the spin move. The controls make the game a bit harder than it actually is.
This Xbox version was ported over by the Point of View team which was responsible for the PC ports of the past. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Game
ASB is a very strong game. The graphics are well polished. I could easily tell that Derek Jeter is Derek Jeter and Bret Boone is Bret Boone because they even did detail on the players' faces!! The control is very simple. Fielding is relatively easy. Gameplay is usually sharp but is a little awkward occasionally. For example, if the CF is charging a ball, he will look like he is going to throw to second. His whole body is facing the second baseman but he throws to third. That is one of two bad things about this game. The other bad thing is that the fielders make at least 20 amazing plays per game. Sound is absolutely superb. It has everything any sports gamer would expect. The option to "buy" cards is really cool. And accomplishing great feats (two homers for the same batter, double play, ect.) rewards with "card points" which you use to buy the cards. The game is really fun but be warned: it is very difficult to master and will take about a week and a half for the average gamer.

4-0 out of 5 stars this game is deep
Well to be honest so far I don`t mind this game however with that said the bigest problem I face with it is batting control ?
I have practised my batting for a while in the special batting section but I still don`t think it has very good control (maybe its just me ?) the rest of the game is very good and up to the usual standerds set by other sports orientated games on the X BOX.
I got this game for $... Australian so overall I`m happy with it, but had I paid full price for it then maybe not. Don`t listen to the 1 or 2 star rating reviews I think those reviewers maybe expected to much. Its realistic has good graphics and loads of options and rewards like base ball cards to collect. It perhaps takes on more than just being an arcade style sports game and goes into areas of management, this game is deep but not over complicated.

1-0 out of 5 stars All Star Baseball
Let's just say this game was definitely one of the worst games ever put out for the x-box. Buying this game would be a total and absolute waste of money if you want a good baseball game get Triple Play 2002 for the same amount! PLEASE I BEG YOU NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS ........ VERY POOR GAME!It's graphics are very very ....... i dont know not good i guess,IT IS A DISGRACE TO THE X BOX AND SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PUT OUT!whoever made this game, geez I don't know what he was thinkin, you can't contyrol the guys worth a ....In conclusion once again DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT, WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS VERY ..... PRODUCT

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Baseball Game EVER!
Dont listen to everyone saying that this game is too hard, if you dont like the batting cursor, go to options and change to eays batting dopeheads! The graphics and gameplay are far superior to Triple Play and World Series. The franchise mode is really great but can only play 162 game seasons. You should get this, dont listen to everyone giving this a 1-2/5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Baseball game.
All Star Baseball 2003 is a great game. It looks and plays really well. You also have a ton of options to chose from...like alternate, throwback, or current uniforms for each team. There's an expansion mode in which you can create your own MLB team, put them in a new city with a new park. I'm amazed at how much attention to detail acclaim paid in this game. In the Franchise mode, you have a farm team to keep track of how well your young guys are developing, as well as a plethora of managerial and everyday stats. You can even check the weather report for the game, and it DOES make a diffrence in how the game is played (how well the ball travels, etc.)

This is a great game, and I'd recommend it to any sports fan. There's a ton of options so you wont get bored until All Star Baseball 2004! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

EA's Madden NFL 2003 maintains the series' status as one of the most engaging game franchises ever. This perennial favorite has updated everything from the spanking new venues (including the Seattle Seahawks Stadium) to the ability to now list pre-existing injuries to current players. If you haven't played previous versions, learning all the controls can be a daunting task. You can control everything from calling audibles to throwing a touch or bullet pass--all while the play clock runs down. But half the fun of this game is in the level of detail you can control, including off-season drafts and free-agent signings, game time, weather, and sensitivity to penalties. Madden NFL 2003 has taken video sports gameplay beyond the action on the field--although the gameplay is seamless and the graphics are impressive on the Xbox. They've created a world where you are equally the owner, general manager, coach, and player. The time and attention you must dedicate to creating your team, along with superbly realistic gameplay and sportscasting, immerse you in your team's fate, making the action all the more compelling. --Sung Nicholas Kim ... 4-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS GAME....YET
Reasons:
Wait for about 2 years until the AI is true to NFL gameplay

1. Uneven AI--- no matter the team, QB, etc...I used franchise mode to build a team with Mc Nabb at QBMcFarland at DT Ray Lewis at LB, Faulk at RB, Robinson, Galloway and Hines Ward as WR's...droped passes galore, missed tackles

2. Flat passess no matter how you release the ball--an LB will intercept a pass 10 yards before its intended receiver

3. You have to go in the game and manually adjust the AI to be more realistic...check the internet, people have actuall come up with what are more "true NFL" settings

4. You have to use the Madden cheat cards to try to even the matchups

5.Computer will make you throw INT's or fumble to keep game score down between 14 to 28 points

you will break the game in two...I have ruined two...when you use instant replay to see your all-pro turned idiot DB's blow coverage, balls go right through hands, fumbilits when the computer is lossing

4-0 out of 5 stars The Junior Madden Football Review
This X-BOX game compares to the PlayStation Hi-Contact
Same game, same name. Great Graphics are real.
Please draft and create any player using your memory bank on your
Mad-Katz XBOX controller. Hits to the turf of the E. J. Dome
will get 1st Downs or touchdowns as fast as you can. That's
why "Madden NFL 2004" On Deportes EA del XBOX,
give it a double deuce.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best sim football
This is easily the best sim football game I've ever played.Besides the awesome graphics, there is easy controls and just general fun gameplay. The first time I played this game I fell in love with right away, right now, I can't think of anything negative about the game, that is how fun it is to play.It is also very realistic and it is definitly worth every penny.

2-0 out of 5 stars Controls have issues...
There are parts of Madden that I really enjoy such as the mini-camps and deep franchise mode, but I am frustrated to the point of anger by the sluggishness of the controls. Often it seems as though you are playing the game on ice as you watch your RB continue to move sideways while you are jamming the controls forward. With the crispness of control available in 2K3 and Fever, this level of control delay is unforgivable in this day and age. The graphics are ok, but not nearly as impressive as NFL 2K3 which has the market cornered on player and environment graphics. In fact, about halfway through playing this game, I realized I would rather be playing 2K3, NFL Fever, or doing laudry, or anything other than watching my players slide all over the 'frozen tundra' of the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. Give me a break!! EA, stop paying high price on-air talent and put some $$$ behind the gameplay.

5-0 out of 5 stars down their throats
this game is so fun especially when your breaking tackles and moving away from the tacklers. For those who have this game and if youre having trouble on those 3rd and or inches or even on the goaline on 4th and goal choose the goal line running play where your running back is running straight up the middle. Before you choose it switch it to the other side so your half back can be facing the weaker middle linbacker than the more powerful. works every time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Basketball to Ever Come out ! Believe Me
This game has so many options to choose from especially in the create-a-player menu form all branded shoes to cornrows headbands wristbands and fingertape. The Graphics clearly is better than nba 2k3's. So my advice to u is get this game because the gameplay and graphics are better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive
I have been playing this game for a couple of months now.It is very addictive.I have enjoyed it a lot.The only other basketball game I have played before it NBA Live 2001 on the PC.This game is much better than that one.I got a good price on it too.It was well worth the money. One of the things that makes it addictive is the create a player options, that allow you to create players. After each game you get to add points to your player's abilities based on how well he did in the game.I first created players that were 7' 10".But I was able to beat the other teams too easliy. So I made them about the same size as the other players to make it more competitive.

5-0 out of 5 stars NBA Inside Drive
This is a great game!I have not played the other Xbox basketball games.I bought this because it was less expensive than the others. It far exceeded my expectations. It's quite realistic (i.e., players mimic their real-life idiosyncrasies on the court). In addition, you can create players and control their appearances and abilities.I created a 7'10" version of myself (he actually looks like me), put him on the Knicks, and get to watch myself dunk over Shaq.

Get this game.If you're a basketball fan, you'll love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game with solid graphics!
I played NBA Inside Drive 2002 and at first I was slightly disappointed at how it looked compared to other b-ball games. Then when 2003 came out I got it and was immediately impressed. You can tell the difference between the two games, and 2003 is hands down a much better game. I've played NBA Live and didn't like how fast-paced it was. You can't really play defense like on Inside Drive and the A.I. seems to always make baskets. Its more realistic on Inside Drive 2003. The dunks are fantastic on this game. You get to play up to 25 seasons and defend your championship title. Another plus, which is one of the better positives to this game is the commentary. They have Kenny 'the Jet' Smith as a new addition. I've played up to 5 seasons on this game and I was shocked to hear new commentary that far into the game. The creators put together a fun game and made it solid in a lot of areas. This is definitely one to own.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME!!!
NBA Inside Drive 2003 is made by the creators from the NFL Fever franchise. good simple games that are easy to play and lots of fun.

again, for more serious gamers, you might want NBA Live, but for those who just want to play, get Inside Drive 2003.

the players all look realisitic and the introductions are awsome! the game also includes Michael Jordan and some of the newer rookies like Manu Ginobili. the game doesn't include Yao Ming, but you can create him.

the team stadiums look awsome, and the crowd really gets into the game. this game is awsome! it's very smooth and very much fun to play. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars garbage
THIS IS BY FAR THE WORSE FOOTBALL GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED.THE GAME CONTROLS GIVE YOU NO FEEL FOR THE GAME LIKE MADDEN DOES AND EVERYTIME YOU THROW THE BALL IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU GET INTERCEPTED.PLAYING THIS GARBAGE IS JUST LIKE WATCHING A FOOTBALL GAME ON TV.FEVER 2002 IS A MUCH MORE REALISTIC GAME THAN FEVER 2003, AS A MATTER OF FACT I GAVE MY FEVER 2003 TO A FRIEND FOR 2002 FEVER.MICROSOFT SHOULD'VE DONE EVERYTHING THAT MADDEN DID AND ADDED BETTER COMMENTARY AND THEY WOULD'VE HAD A WINNER.IM OUT MADDEN FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars not much different than from Fever 2002
the only real difference in NFL Fever 2003 is the updated lineups, the addition of the Houston Texans, and the additions of new music and towels on the players, but other than that, not much else changed.

game play is still good, and Fever is the kind of game you should get if you want to just have some fun. if you want more serious NFL play, then go after Madden.

Fever is todays Tecmo Bowl. simple and easy to play. still a good game. can't wait for Fever 2004.

3-0 out of 5 stars ok but not great
Well I bought this game and hoped it would be good. Well it's ok. What I like about the game is that it has the best graphics in a football game right now is has good gameplay, well somewhat. But the thing that bothers me the most is the the AI on Veteran is frustrating. I mean my god its like my guy is open and nobody is on him and he's going for a touchdown and then all of the sudden the Computer some how runs all the way over there and stops the ball I was screaming at my tv for hours. I mean every pass I throw they either stop or intercep the ball. Another thing that I hate that has been metioned in the other reviews is that the game is no different except maybe the graphics improved a slight bit, Woopty Freakin DOOO. I recommend that you keep fever 2002 and save your money on a better football game. It's to bad that the next version of fever had to be so bad compared to the first one. Hopefully 2004 has something better to offer and if not I'm lookin at either NFL 2k3 or 4 and if I get desperate I'll go for madden.

2-0 out of 5 stars Go buy madden
Not even online game play makes this game worth it, madden is far better, plus the BUTTONS MAKE SENSE, well on the GCN at least.
And I am sick of kevin collabro (i listen to the sonics, he is their announcer) and he's is DEFINITELY not a football announcer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilling Football Game!
This game really rocks! The graphics are the best. The dynasty mode is really cool. Starting a team from scratch is awesome! The gameplay, handeling, plays, and managing teams is also very well made. This game is a lot better than Madden 2003. I highly recommend buying this game. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Football junkies have long been accustomed to loving gridiron videogames while tolerating their weaknesses. We appreciate the fact that developerstry to incorporate genuine college or pro atmospheres into the games, but itdrives us nuts when the fight songs are incorrect, the out patterns areautomatic, or the running game is unrealistically easy or hard.

But then along comes NCAA Football 2003 by EA Sports, a game so good thatafter a few weeks, even your dog will wonder why you never find the time tocommunicate anymore. Start with the AI--by far the best yet in a college game.Defenses not only react to your play calling and adjust their strategies as thegame evolves, but they expertly disguise their coverages and swarm to the ballwith speed and decisiveness. In addition, your computer opponent actually makesintelligent clock decisions when time is running out (shocking!). The runninggame at times is a bit easy on the lower difficulty levels (especially if a backlike Oregon's Onterrio Smith has the ball), but that's why they made All- American and Heisman levels.

The graphics, as is typical in football video games over the last couple ofyears, are extremely good, and the between-play animations provide extra sparkto the rivalries (taunting runs rampant). But the graphics aren't the star ofthe show--it's the dynasty mode, stupid. With enough special features and statcategories to keep college football hopheads happy for months--including acomprehensive recruiting engine, a customizable intro screen that features yourfavorite school's colors and fight song, and a Trophy Room that displays allyour bowl and rivalry game hardware--NCAA Football 2003 just might makefans forget the depressing length of the offseason. --Rivers Janssen

Pros:

  • Terrific AI
  • Fans of almost any Division I program will be happy with the team-specificfeatures
  • Passing engine actually requires you to read defenses intelligently
Cons:
  • Commentary is a bit predictable

5-0 out of 5 stars Gamer from Arizona
This is the best game I have ever played. I can stay on for hours at a time. The best part of this game is he camera view. It's closer to the field then Madden and taht makes it much beter to play.
Some games make it impossible to get passed their offense line and you can never get a sack. other games make it to easy. This one is just right.
I love the campus challenges. You can get hall of fame teams such as All-Pro Florida or All-American 2000 team. Then there are team pennants and stadium bowl and mascot teams. If there is a game that you need to get this is the one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but some flaws
Personally, I thought this was the best College Football game out there for the X Box.The controls are almost exactly like Madden's and the play is fun.The only drawback for me was the fact that they changed one button on the play calling screen.Call it what you will, but to be used to Madden and the way these games played on the PS2 before which all used THE SAME BUTTON CONFIGURATIONS and to have that changed for no apparent reason really irked me.I can't tell you the number of times that I'd switch between Madden and NCAA and make incorrect play calls because I was used to the other playcalling menu.It just doesn't make sense, but it's only a minor drawback to a solid game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must buy
Honestly, this is by far the best college sports game to eve come out.I would put it right up there with Madden 2003 in terms of graphics and Franchise/Dynasty Mode.It may even have the edge over Madden.Personally I am a junkie for the Dynasty/Franchise Mode, I love it.Nothing comes close to this.In depth recruiting that will blow your mind, scouting profiles, coaching contacts, job offers, tons of teams to choose from.Start at a small school and work your way up to a big program. It's phenominal.I honestly can not think of a single criticism, except that it may be a bit too easy to score on offense but then again college football is a high scoring game.At this point wait until the 2004 game comes out and then buy, I can't even imagine how they might improve it b/c it's already simply amazing. Must buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game, very addictive but not perfect
I bought this game when I bought my xbox a few weeks back. It took me a few days to learn the basics. Once you learn the basics and learn to call the audibles you are unstoppable. I have completed 6 seasons winning the national championship in the last 5 years and the rose bowl during the first year. The point I am getting at is if you have a good QB/Receiver combo, you will be able to beat the computer most of the time by calling by passing audible. I ran the same play 6 times and was able to get a completetion to the same receiver every time.

Apart from that everything else is great. The reality is amazing. The stadiums, the fans, the rivalries, the players are all very good. A must buy if you are college football fan. You can export the draft class and import it into Madden. How good is that..

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing, realistic, great fun
I've been a Madden junkie ever since the Sega Genesis days of the early '90s. I tried the college football equivalent at some point in the '90s and found it much inferior to what Madden was doing. That definitely isn't the case any more.

The first college game I tried on x box is the Sega game, and I found it very awkward and hard to get a feel for. This could be because I am so accustomed to the EA style of play calling. I found this EA game available for [money] here on Amazon, so I thought I'd give it a try, and I'm really glad I did. I have to say I prefer it to Madden in most respects. The simulation is amazingly realistic, and the college atmosphere with the rivalries, conferences, etc., makes for a more entertaining game. The NFL game may be "technically" superior, but this one is definitely more fun. Any college football fan needs to have this game -- it is a real thrill to take your team to to the field.

My only complaint would be that it takes so long to load. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars How does EA's only competitor stack up?
I owned every EA College Football game since Bill Walsh's College Football. Right behind their NHL-line, their College Football games were top-notch. However, after the 2001 version, I didn't get them again because I didn't want to get games until I had a PS/XBox/GC. Instead, I'd end up getting a Dreamcast when they went on sale for dirt-cheap. I eventually got Sega's College Football 2k2 version when it came out. Other than the crappy ranking system, it was a great game. Combined with the NBA2k and NFL2k serii, I had almost been completely turned into a Sega Sports fan. So, I ended up getting an XBox and going broke and splurging on a bunch of games. One of those happened to be College Football 2k3 and here's my review!

Introduction:

Obviously, it's a college football game. EA's NCAA Football's only rival. All 117 Div 1a schools, 25 bowls, the BCS (named Sega Championship Series), tournaments, exhibitions, practice, XBox Live enhanced, everything you need for a College Football game experience is here.

Gameplay: 8/10

This is an area I was expecting more of. The gameplay flows worse than the Dreamcast version, much like the graphics. It's not bad, though. One thing I'm glad they improved on is the running defense AI. My two main problems with it before were, you could run the same play over and over and they'd almost never stop it. Another problem was that even though you could do that, you could almost NEVER break runs longer than 30 yards, not even on the easiest game. I realize this could be a ''personal'' problem, but when you can't even do it with Nebraska on a team like Baylor, something is wrong. Now, if you get the right blocks and get outside, you can actually break a really long run. Also improved upon are cuts, you can actually cut while running now and not be tackled right away. By now, everyone should be used to what modes you have available. Legacy is what you get this game for. Build your team through shrewd recruiting, picking when to redshirt a top-notch Freshman, cutting the slack to have room for recruits who you aren't sure about, decisions like that will make you #1 or could make you bowlless. One thing lacking from the game is being able to edit your schedule. It could be used as a cheat, however, with the BCS (or Sega Championship Series in this game), making a weak schedule wouldn't necessarily help you. Might get you a BCS game, but not the championship game. Other than legacy mode, you have your standard exhibition mode, season mode, tournament mode and practice, where you can, obviously, practice. There's also the Sega Challenge, which lets you try and get records, and when you get them, you get a code to enter at SegaSports.com and you can win prizes and such.

Graphics: 8/10

Not bad, but I actually think they're a little worse than the 2k2 Dreamcast version. At least, the in-game graphics. The players just don't seem to be as good nor do they flow as well. The graphics overall are much better looking. The intros are nice. I must admit, I expected a little more considering the XBox's power, but nothing that takes away from the game. If you count replays as part of graphics, it might up it to a 9. I know replays don't exactly ''enhance'' the gameplay or anything, per se, but they're really nice and the multiple angles, including a reverse which shows it one way, reverses it, then goes forward in another angle. The interaction with the announcers and telestrators is reallyt great too. Since Sega has teamed up with ESPN, all the graphics are ESPN authentic as well, which is a really nice touch, better than the generic graphics Sega has been using.

Sound: 8/10

The announcers are pretty good about not being too repetitive. They interact with the play on the field very well. Most teams fight songs are there, however, depending on your sound settings, it's hard to hear them sometimes. The sound effects are pretty good, though some taunting would've been really nice. Not a whole lot more to say about the sound.

Replayability: 10/10

Obviously there is no reason to ever stop playing this game. Withover 117 teams, you could do a legacy with all of them, even if you just simmed the whole legacy, it would take forever. Changing recruiting styles and play styles is also a good way to keep playing. Ever though of changing Nebraska into a pocket passing team? You can try doing it right away with Jammal Lord or wait and recruit a passing QB. Things like that will keep you playing for months.

3-0 out of 5 stars graphics stink
The graphics in this game stink, the players just jump straight up or dive stright forward. u can hardly complete any passes in this game either. i rated this a 3 because its legacy has a little more depth than EAs but other than that its not that great for gameplay

I LOVE this game. The Best player on this game is #4(conerback) on Kanas State. This player is really TERENNCE NEWMAN! Conerback For the Dallas Cowboys Drafted in the 2003 draft.(5th pick overall by the cowboys

5-0 out of 5 stars Some times you gotta be smart, immature reviewers
First, let me point this out: those two bad reviews for this game were reps from EA or they couldn't play the game because it was too hard. EA college football 2003 is not as good as 2k3 because it doesn't have the options like 2k3. THe graphics, sound, and espn coverage realize this game to be superior. THe gameplay is basically the same but sega's scheme is better handled. And alas, online play, the greatest thing ever to happen. Legacy mode is tedious but in actuallity, it is for the true simmers, meanwhile season mode is for the hardcore footballers.

Once again EA is second best to the glory that is sega, and no, I don't work at sega, I just love their superior products.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME!!!
i wasn't to much into NASCAR, but i couldn't help it. i bought NASCAR THunder 2002 for my dad, and it's awsome!!! you can choose from over 40+ drivers and it has all the best drivers.
all real drivers and all their cars, and some cars have multiple designs.
you can create your own car with your own sponsors and also, when you go through career mode, you have a chance to become sponsored by a company like Kleenex. real awsome.

also, drivers views are good. you have about 5 views to choose from, including views like hood view and a view where you are the actual driver. real nice.

there are at least a dozen or so race tracks to choose from, and during the season you play at all the major tracks, including the Daytona 500. good game, lots of fun, and up to 4 people can play at one time. real awsome!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Fun!
I think Nascar Thunder 2002 is super fun and deserves 4.5 stars, but somethings are not included. Some of those are 1 you can't pick some of the options on career mode and 2 is that you cannot have coms racing when you have 3 or 4 players racing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE
I played this game at [a store] when the XBox was first being released and I have been hooked every since. I had no intention of buying an XBox as I have always been a Nintendo fan and I assumed the Gamecube was going to release Thunder also but when they didn't I knew I had to go out and buy the XBox just for this game. The drafting effects seem so realistic it's like you're actually driving the car. I have played almost every Nascar game available and I can honestly say this IS the best of all of them. Good job EA and XBox for the most addictive racing game ever created.

3-0 out of 5 stars . . .
... I don't know if I'm 100% happy with the decision. Like any good gamer, I came home and popped the disc in the machine and explored all of the options and features for a few hours.
I thought the career mode was neat and different, but at the same time a bit frustrating. Having played only NASCAR 4 before this, the feature seemed great-- something akin to Franchise in Madden. The main frustration is that I haven't figured out how to switch from a 5% race length (which is entirely too short).
As gameplay and graphics go, the game is hit and miss. Graphics are terrifically detailed, but kind of jaggy on a regular TV hook up. The sun glare gets irritating at times. The car handles pretty loosely, even when tweaked (i.e. you hit left on the D-pad a bunch of times to turn instead of applying a steady press at a certain pressure to turn). You need to be very (very!) delicate on the stick to turn smoothly. However, I'm still using the stability control so . . .
I know I had a lot of criticism for Thunder, but I think overall this is a solid game. This is one that takes patience and finesse. Definitely not a pick up and play title. If you are willing to put in the time to get good at this game and learn the finer points, I am sure it can be very enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best racing game out there
I recently purchusad Nascar Thuder for my xbox Its got the best graphics all the tracks and all of the cars from the 2001 nascar winston cup season this game easy to learn and fun to play ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars dont get this
this game is was alright at first, i enjoyed winning but that gets very old. The create a player is horrible. You can not have any detail with your player, as compared to live when you have many details. And what is with bo outlaw winning mvp every year? He is washed up and is a horrible player! That shouldnt happen. and the gameplay is not very great ethier. It dhould have the regualar controls like the Y button as block or rebound, not in this game. so i recomened you save your money and dont buy this, or go buy nba live 2003 or 2002, they are worth the money, not this game isnt.

2-0 out of 5 stars ESPN NBA 2Night 2002
This game is not the best basketball game out! I rented it for 5 days and it got very old! I would not recommend this game because you can hit the three too many times and win too badly.
I liked the "NBA 2k3" game and the "NBA Live" game a lot more because they are more challenging and have better graphics.

Bottom line: this game stinks!

5-0 out of 5 stars so cool!
get this game! you won't be sorry. best basketball ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is AWESOME!!
A must have for NBA fans, and also T-Mac fans!

Take control of T-Mac and his game and lead the Magic to the NBA title! This game contains all the players and teams, but it has the most important feature of them all, the edit player feature!! For example, if Troy Hudson, who wears number 11, was traded to the Pacers, he cannot wear the same number, because Jamaal Tinsley has 11. Other games would simply ignore that fact, and both players would suit up with the same number, which is so unrealistic! You can't have two players wearing the same number! NBA 2 Night's awesome EDIT PLAYER feature allows you to edit the number yourself, that way T-Hud can wear 11 and you can change Tinsley's to an odd number like 46 or something.

Another thing would be hairstyles and headbands. If a team, like the lame duck Hornets, decides to sport headbands for their playoff run, you can modify each player so that they can have headbands! No patches or cracks required for those! Same thing with hairstyles, if a team decides to shave their heads for the postseason, you can do the same thing in NBA 2 NIGHT! Simply modify the player so they can have a shaved head! If Mike Miller decides to have corn rows, then edit Mike's hairstyle and give him the 'rows!! Now that's awesome, no other game has this!!

After you win a championship with the Magic, you can take control of the other teams in the league, along with superstar players like Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Chris Webber, Gary Payton, and others! This game also has the grizzled vets like Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, and his Airness, plus brash rookies like Brendan Haywood, Zeljko Rebraca, and Tyson Chandler!

1-0 out of 5 stars dont buy this game
I bought the nfl primetime thinking it would be a great game but it [stinks] and i realized why Konami made it. I dont recommend buying any sports games produced by konami. They made ps2 mgs2 look good why didnt they try for the xbox. But I will let other people judge the game for themself. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Look no further than Sega Sports' NFL 2K3 if you're seeking a more than worthy alternative to the established Madden football franchise. The game's superb graphics alone are enough to draw in any fan, but its in-depth gameplay and ESPN broadcast presentation easily rank this as the finest football game Sega has released to date.

Thanks to its smarter-than-your-average artificial intelligence, NFL 2K3 sports a somewhat steep learning curve that requires sound football simulation instincts. Knowing your team's strengths and weaknesses will ultimately be of benefit if you hope to win at the game's advanced levels. Be prepared to mix up your play calling and make adjustments, instead of thinking the same old reliable plays will get the job done. Of course, practice mode is always there if you need to work the kinks out of your game plan and master the multitude of offensive and defensive sets at your disposal.

Graphically, sports games don't come much better looking than NFL 2K3. Among the highlights: player animations are amazingly realistic and lifelike, and a wide array of facial emotions appear that are relative to game scenarios. Stadiums are painstakingly recreated to take on an almost postcard feel, and replays access a wide variety of angles that put you right on the field or in the stands.

One area in which NFL 2K3 easily aces the Madden games is with its game commentary. As part of the game's ESPN broadcast presentation, announcers Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe call every bit of the action in varied detail. The pair is far removed from tired and stale Maddenisms, offering worthwhile play breakdowns, player assessments, and quips that actually don't make you wince (at least not too often). Stevens and O'Keefe, not to mention the crowd, will let you hear about it when you bite it on the field. --Larry White

Pros

  • Superb graphics in most areas
  • Commentators sound realistic and rarely repeat themselves
  • Challenging AI forces you to adapt your game plan

Cons

  • Receivers can't be put in motion
  • Slow, lofting quality of the passes
  • No ability to challenge plays
  • Often unrealistic player animations

This review refers to the PlayStation2 version of this game. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars fun game but does lack in some areas
dont get me wrong i enjoy playing this game. but it does lag in some areas. passes have a lobbing quality so that means a lot of time for you (and the DB) to get to the area the pass will land. this is annoying. try selecting 'maximum passing' option, but it doesnt help much. another is u can only change your depth chart permanently, meaning u cant change personnel in specific packages only once, you have to do it each game. very annoying if you like a certain dude to return punts and kickoffs. OH! and maybe the worst thing is that when creating a player, you cant select what college they went to! how sega left out that minute detail is beyond me, because as long as the create a player feature has been around youve been able to select what college they went to! BIG MISS. also, the difficulty level b/w rookie and pro is HUGE. i can kick butt on rookie level, but cant do anything versus pro. very annoying. i do enjoy this game tho, for its graphics, gameplay, and just in general overall fun.

3-0 out of 5 stars Madden
Madden is the way to go!I have played both and the only thing 2K3 has on Madden is Live enabled.

5-0 out of 5 stars The bottom line is...
this game is more fun than Madden and every bit as realistic. People are creatures of habit and that is the only reason Sega hasn't totally overtaken EA in the sports area. This is the same reason people still buy PS2...You won't be disappointed!

1-0 out of 5 stars Is everyone blind?
Why does everyone love this game so much? I can spend an hour going over all the negatives I found playing this frustrating game. Did they do any user testing when they developed it? This game is more flash than substance. It cannot hold a candle to Madden. The ONLY good quality about this game is that you can play it live. EA and Microsoft are being stupid and not allowing Madden to go online for Xbox, so if you want to play Live, get this game, but don't bother with anything else. Just be prepared for unrealistic football play.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for Live
When playing 1 versus 1, the other person can see what play you are calling(on offense and defense), so you have to set your audibles correctly(only 3).Although on Live, the other person does not see your plays.Very fun to play Live. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Extreme sports just got a little more bizarre with this game that mixessnowboarding with espionage. And somehow, it works. The plot involves theefforts of boarder Naya as she investigates the wacky activities at thedecidedly snowboarder-unfriendly Mt. Garrick. Naya must complete a long seriesof stunt-based missions in order to gain enough lift points to get to the top ofMt. Garrick. In general, the pacing isn't nearly as fast as snowboarding kingSSX, yet Dark Summit's weird cast of characters and emphasis oncombos and timing makes for a deeper game.

Despite the cartoony physics, you'll find the controls very responsive andyou'll soon be pulling off some cool-looking stunts. The visuals won't raise newstandards for the Xbox, but they are nicely detailed and move fast.

Curiously, while you can earn points to buy snazzy clothing and boards, none ofthem affect actual gameplay. Also, the repetition when trying to complete yourgoals will terrify impatient speed-seeking snowboarders.

Still, while not quite as quick and stylish as SSX, Dark Summitdelivers a strong just-one-more-try feel that challenges players while still being fun. For those with the skills and patience, Summit is a arcadesnowboard ride of a slightly different kind. --Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • Plays like most snowboarding games... but different enough to stand out
  • Nice snow-capped graphics that move quickly, and a potentially very longmountainside to snowboard down
Cons:
  • Repetition caused by failed missions will scare off a few snowboarderslooking for sheer speed
  • Early levels could stand a bit more imagination in their design

1-0 out of 5 stars It's okay, but with Amped on the XBOX why bother?
I saw this game at the store for a few bucks and thought "why not?"Well even though it was just a few bucks, I expect a game to be fun and worth my time. This game wasn't.After playing snowboarding games like "Amped" and "Amped 2", this game seems really boring. It's that simple. It just isn't any fun.The graphics are mediocre. The storyline seemed to be just tossed in there to add some color. It didn't "draw me in" at all.So here's the breakdown: poor graphics, terrible gameplay, and if you're looking for a snowboarding game, get Amped.

3-0 out of 5 stars Perplexing?!
I give Dark Summit 3 stars. I wouldn't say it was the best game ever. The story line and acting was good if you like real cocky anime.
At the beginning you only get to play with one character. You'll have to literally beat the game to unlock the rest of the characters. One thing that was perplexing to me is why would you want to play with the rest of the characters and beat the game, and you already beat it with the first? It takes all the fun out the game itself.
I did, however, give it 3 stars because of the challenge it brought.

P.S. Please! Rent the game before buying. I was stupid enough to buy it. You don't be stupid and rent it first.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best game ever
my favorite game is this game.If you want a good action crazy fun game this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
this game is james bond mixed with snow boarding totaly dope!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Game Ever
This game is one of the coolest games that I have ever played. It 's very fun and if you like snowboarding this is the right game for you.You are trying to stop the evil corporation and you are not allowed to snowboard there, but you do.So they try to stop you from ruining their plans. 4-0 out of 5 stars from what ive herd
most people doing a review from what i can tell havent even rode a dirtbike so they think this game is relistic well its not on this game there are no actual roots in turns the rythem section is the easiest and the preloading is bad but if you have only watched or never raced you would like this game (thanks to carmichael and stewart)

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS GAME!
This game is the best game ever. What I really like about the game is that you can create your own player. You can't do that in MX Superfly. This game is great for doing wheelies. From the moment I had my hands on it,I could not stop playing it.I love the tricks in this game.I recommand this game to anybody that loves dirt biking.

5-0 out of 5 stars MX 2002 R.C
Much Better Than MX Superfly

2-0 out of 5 stars this game sucks
At first i liked the game but it got boring in 10 minutes

3-0 out of 5 stars Nothing revolutionary for an MX game
MX 2002 is definitely a fun game, but it isn't a particuarly ground breaking title.

The game centers around a career mode. You start at an Amateur in the 125cc class and work your way up to the 125cc Pros and then the 250cc Pros. Along the way you can take part in freestyle competitions and tutorials to hone your skills.

The tracks are varied and can be quite long, which makes for fun racing. However, the game as a whole is quite short. I was able to complete the game within 3 days and it doesn't offer much in the way of replayability because there are so few team/bike choices. Also, features such as qualifying races (and last chance qualifiers) are completely absent.

Overall I found Supercross 2000 for the N64 much more enjoyable. In particular it had running commentary during the races and multiple camera views. MX 2002 has neither of these.

I recommend renting it for a couple days of entertainment. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best NBA game out there.
This game is the best NBA game out there. It has great graphics and detail. The free throws are challenging but not to hard like NBA Live 2003.Put it this way I bought NBA Live 2003 to give it a chance and give it two thumbs down.Today I'm going to Toys R Us to buy NBA Inside Drive 2003.But this version is the best yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's an all around great game
This game a great game to play with your friends.Evert time we play its a blast. The dunks are ausome, you can even break the rim. This game is also real it exactly like playing a real basketball game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft's First Venture Into the Basketball World Is a....
Failure.Here's why

1. No Franchise mode, I mean come on!Franchise is everything, and is what killed this game.No franchise = No real fun.I probably would have gotten it if this hadn't been the case.

2. The overall gameply.According to everyone it's to easy, the annoucers are horrible, the players look stiff. And is it just me, or is the stadium really dark?So much more could have been done.Better gameplay, graphics, and overall depth is how this game failed.

What I did like about this game was the passing and shooting style. The passes were cool and easy, and the shots looked awsome.Unfortunantly, everything is dark, the rims dont look like rims, and the gameplay is easy to beat.Trust me, I've played this game.

Overall, this game just didn't live up to what it could have been. But Microsoft already fixed the problem with the 2003 edition. The game has a ton of dunks, fluid player animations, and a whopping 25 season franchise mode.Sure, it's 60% more to pay, but it's either that, or this.Go for the new and improved 2003 edition.Either that, or go for NBA Live 2002 or NBA 2K2.Thx!

3-0 out of 5 stars A little disapointing.
I was really looking forward to NBA Inside Drive. I had been playing NFL Fever for months and thought this would be the B-ball equivilant. It's NOT!The graphics are decent (NFL Fever is better), the play-by-play announcers are entertaining, and there are some cool dunk sequences, but it left me wanting more.I think the main reason I tired of this game much more quickly that NFL Fever is the lack of a Dynasty mode. There is no salary cap,no create-a-player, and no dynamic player performance.Sooo, the team you create, is pretty much the team your stuck with, game after game, season after season etc. etc.I bought this game and really don't feel it was worth the $$$.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME !
There is a dispute with Inside Drive and NBA 2K2. Well I have played both games. Both of these games are 5 star. I think they are both evenly matched. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars MLS Extra Time 2002
Although you'll initially curse the rigid control system, ExtraTime soon comes together as an above average soccer game. It runs at a smooth 60 frames per second at all times, there's virtually no load time, and it's got a great set of modes and options. The objective-based Scenario Mode in particular adds a welcome dose of originality to the standard array of modes found in almost each and every soccer game. On the flipside, there are also a number of problems that keep this game from being a favorite. In-game strategy options aside, it's simply not as well-rounded a package as last year's FIFA, lacks key licenses, and plays nowhere near as well as Konami's other soccer offerings. Konami will always have a special place in the hearts of soccer fans in Europe and Japan -- I realize that the US is still a niche market for soccer games, but it would be nice if we could all get to play the same game next time around. Since Xbox owners didn't get the superior FIFA 2002, this is currently the only MLS game around -- so give it a look if EA's World Cup game isn't your cup of tea.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
This game is so much fun, it is very realistic too. I love soccer games and this is one im glad that I bought. If you have an XBOX do yourself a favor and add it to your collection of games. The Graphics are awesome, and you can be just about any international team. BUY IT!

1-0 out of 5 stars This isn't worth your time or purchase
MLS Extratime offers the most up to date rosters for the MLS and more than enough International teams. What I find annoying is that the World Cup is just around the corner and although having all the real MLS players is nice, it doesn't have real international players for the rest of the teams. I like the MLS and all but the World Cup is soccer's premiere event and not to have the international players not accurately represent is a big minus
One thing MLS Extratime does have is decent controls. The players feel pretty responsive when controling them. The through pass is also done very well, just like in ISS 98 for the N64. The coaching options are nice and the control of the set pieces is done well. Too bad all these nice features are completely overlooked due to the most annoying player switching I have ever seen in a sports game. I would like to say that no sports game should have automatic switching of your players. Combined with manual switching makes even more frustrating. It's really annoying with you shoot a shot and it's blocked and instead of retaining control of your player it switches to some player not even in the run of play.

Graphic fortunately, this is an aspect of MLS Extratime 2002 that wasn't royally [messed] up. Although the player models aren't as good as EA's FIFA, MLS's face models are much more superior. The players really look very similar to the real life counterparts. The animation of the character is done pretty well and the stadium environments are better the EA's FIFA.

The Compute AI stinks in this game. I'm beating the computer defenders like they were drugged up before the game. Also it's so easy to score on the computer goalie. Just do the same move over and over again, cut in out and shoot, works every time. Pretty soon I was crushing the computer 10 to 0. I swear there's more scoring in this game than there is in hockey, which is not realistic. The game feels very arcade like because of this.

MLS Extra time may be presented like a real ESPN TV soccer match but in no way does it accurately depicts what goes on in a real soccer game. This is a great game if you don't care for realism in your soccer game.

2-0 out of 5 stars somehow got worse after N64's ISS 98.
Bad news first: International Teams - they used to use fake names, now everything is fake - no real uniforms, players aren't based on anything real, and somehow the U.S. is the best international team.
Gameplay: no shoulder tackles like in ISS 98, the line-up menus are more difficult to navigate through, and the gameplay isn't as fast as it used to be.

Good news - if you're a big MLS fan - it has all the stadiums and players.

But, I like my international play, and hate EA's FIFA series. What am I to do?

4-0 out of 5 stars After 2 hours
I got this game yesterday and have played it for about 2 hours. It is my second game for my xbox.I haven't played any earlier versions of mls or anyother soccer game for that matter. In the two hours I have been playing the game I have scored one goal off a cornerkick. The amateur setting is pretty tough. In particular how the screen is displayed makes knowing where your guys are to pass to pretty difficutlt.I would guess about 70% of passes are done blindly (no matter what camera angle is chosen).Overall I find the game pretty entertaining, though I have a feeling it requires far more effort from a player than I wish to spend to become proficient.Maybe if you have some gaming skills the game is easier.Still I wish I could see more of the field at once so I could understand where my guys are.Still if you have to get your soccer fix this is the only way for 2 more weeks...Personally I am holding my breath for the david beckam game... ... I LOST BY ONE SECOND ( which is like one minute in circuit racing ) the suba-ricer finished in 8.5 seconds which shaters the real life record set by a 1227 hp skyline GTR from sweeden by like .3 seconds

Anyway its a crapy game that i recommend only to those who enjoy drooling over superb grapics for hours and hours on end

and thats the end of my review peace out,L33T

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, EXCELLENT CARS!!!
This game is pretty darn good. Some say that it is too hard, but thats just because those dummies don't know how to use the brakes, or there car is too heavy with crappy brakes and tires. All you have to do is replace the brakes and tires and suspension every once in a while, and if that is still not good enough for your cruddy little driving skills, then get something light like an RX-7 or the Elise Exige. Anyways this game is so highly addictive, i play it for solid months upon years. Not only is the money and advancement in liscences you get fun, but there are billions of cars!!!! There are already a lot of cars to just buy, but there is about twice that many you may unlock or win!! The price for cars ranges from 5,000 to 150,000 and beyond. Sometimes it may cost up to three times as much dough to pimp out your car with turbochargers, new suspension and brakes, weight reduction, and other stuff. You got stuff ranging form old gt40's and jaguars and celicas and dodge chargers to brand new corvettes and ford gt concepts and vipers and all sorts of sweet ****!!! (The Caspita is my favorite that i unlocked) You got muscle cars, old classics, luxury cars, super cars, popular street cars, Euro cars, japanese cars, american cars, german cars, and some down right pathetic peices of junk. The racing is fun and it gets harder as you get better cars and it is really hard when you get to the world championship in the second season. Thats right, after you beat it the first time, there is season 2, which is about the same except harder, more parts and cars, and you don't have to go throught those back-breaking liscence tests all over again. I only have this version, but there is version for xbox live just come out and you may use your old saved games with your cars for it. You may also download cars, maps, and all the rest of the glorious glory that comes with xbox live games. Sweet Game!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars A realistic driving simulation!!! but not that great a game.
Sega GT is an good game. Its almost an exact copy of Gran Turismo. The graphics are beautiful, controls are good, handling of cars is realistic, the sound is great, but it lacks the fun factor.
The single player game in which you play a professional racer is good. Its nice to get money to buy better cars and to buy used or new auto parts. The realism of everything is great, (but not for someone who always crashes!)I like the idea of the liscence tests.
However it is so repitive! The A.I is tough, offering no difficulty setting. Its no fun when you complete so many races to buy this expensive car and then you go into a race and all your opponents have as good a car as you! Whats up with that? There is no xbox live, multiplayer is weak (4 players would have been nice.) For me, a realistic driving experience isn't my thing. But if you fancy this kind of stuff, I recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Graphics are great, i'll give it that much. The steering is horrible. At every turn it's like crash into the wall.Too hard to earn money. ... Read more
