Amazon.com Review Game modes include practice, single play, tournament, time trials, and versus.Tournament mode is the bulk of the game. Players can beat it in fewer than threehours and it isn't particularly difficult. Replay value is added by requiringyou to beat the tournament mode several times so you can unlock all the game'ssecrets. Oddly enough, the game's sound--usually LucasArts's forte--is hamperedby an unusual effect: at times you'll hear the full Star Wars treatment,as John Williams's score and cool sound effects totally capture the feel of themovies, but other times you'll hear only the sound of your engine. Theenvironmental audio is an interesting choice that wasn't executed very well.Audio and brevity issues aside, this game is one of the strongest StarWars titles released for a console. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Reviews (34)
I get this all from this game.I've really enjoyed playing this game and building up my character while trying to unlock other characters to play with. Each course is imaginative and has its own sets of challenges. My only problem is that it can get easy really quickly.I wish there were a way to download courses off the Internet or an ability to create your own. But in the end, if you like racing games I would highly recommend this one!! ... Read more

Amazon.co.uk Review Yet ultimately, the core of Burnout 2 is still arcade-style racing, and frankly theres little else that does it better. Burnout 2 is incredibly accessible and an absolute blast to play, whether youre competing through the suitably enhanced single-player options or hooking up with friends--its completely irresistible. Visually, the game looks great and moves very, very quickly. The action too is interspersed with elaborate crashes, and when you do hit something you shouldnt, at least youre rewarded with an action replay for your trouble. Negatives? Genuinely very few. Those who prefer their driving games flavored with a bit more realism are going to be happier with a Gran Turismo game than this, and in spite of some good improvements and additions, there arent enormous differences between this and the original, despite the fact that a lot more has been added to it. These are nothing more than very minor niggles though. Easily one of the most downright enjoyable games of recent times, Burnout 2 is an exemplary piece of gaming entertainment, and a welcome antidote to the growing band of games that just take themselves far too seriously. Treat yourself. Youll be glad you did. --Simon Brew Features Reviews (59)
For the negatives (which aren't many): Though it doesn't matter to me on this particular game (although it may to some), you can't customize your cars. More positives: There are 3 modes of gameplay. First, complete a set of races to open up more races, areas, and cars. Second, a pursuit mode. Although they should've taken more energy points away for harder the hits on the car instead of one energy point per hit, you get to pursue a car and hit him with your car until their energy bar is to nothing. Hurry up though, you have a short time (at least 4 miles) to reduce the energy bar to nil. Third positve (and my favorite): Crash. You get to choose any car you want, the boost bar is always filled up for you, and you go out and make as big a mess as possible. Great for blowing off steam after that person just cut you off on the road coming home tonight, or any other incident you may get road raged about. Absolutely fun game, and with only $20, you can't go wrong! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review The game, using an unnamed mascot, nicely guides you through your very firstpark. The mascot tells you how to get golden tickets, which you'll use to getinto other parks with different themes, such as Halloween, space, and dinosaurages. The menus are a little convoluted, and the loading time for a parkapproaches one minute, but once inside you get access to that park'sattractions. Once you've set down an attraction's layout, you can then ride on it infirst-person 3-D--an experience that is just about as vertigo inducing as itsreal-life counterpart. There is even variety in the roller coasters available:hanging steel, wood coasters, and even water rides. The name Theme Park Roller Coaster implies that you'll spend most ofyourtime designing and riding these roller coasters. Unfortunately, the game hasmore insane micromanagement features than SimBureaucrat. Every stagehasat least three goals. The first is to stay in business for a specified periodoftime. The second is to make a certain amount of money within a year. The thirdis to get a certain amount of people to visit. But if you are a roller coaster buff, or you enjoy the business simulationaspects of games like these, you'll want to add this game to your PS2collection. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (47)

Amazon.com Review At first, playing the game is almost as simple as Pong: Move your character toward the ball and press a button. Provided they're close enough to the ball, they should be able to return the volley. To progress through the increasingly tough challengers, though, players will need to learn how to direct the ball, perform lobs and smashes, and use finesse with topspins and backspins. The game still has a few areas that could be improved. First, there's no way to change the court perspective--one side of the court is always in the foreground, the other in the background. It's easier to play the game when your character is right in front of you, but the characters switch sides between games in the set. It makes sense in the two-player game, since having the camera move with the character would require a split-screen arrangement, but gamers should at least have the option of staying with their tennis pro during computer matches. The only other complaint is that while Sega Sports Tennis has an excellent two-player game--with both the singles and cooperative or competitive doubles--there are no three- or four-player options, as there were in the Dreamcast version. Granted, there are only two controller slots on the PS2, but plenty of other games get around this by using the Multitap accessory. Still, even with only two at a time, Sega Sports Tennis is a great party game since the matches are short and anyone--even those who know nothing about tennis and have never played a video game in their lives--can pick up this game and have fun. --Porter B. Hall Pros: Cons: Reviews (24)
What I liked about the game was its attention to detail.Unlike other tennis title, your character actually developes in skill. At first, your ground strokes and serves are pathetically slow.Fortunately, so is the footwork of your opponents. There are alot of training games you can play (it's more of a mini-game) to improve our skills.Want to have a blazing serve? Then 'train' in either the serve bowling game or the shoot for prize game. There are 2 training games for each skills, which include: groundstrokes, volleys, footwork, and serve. Those 4 sets of skills are also divided into individual sub-skill sets. For example, on your serve, you have power and control skills sets. And for your ground strokes, you have power, control, and angel, all divided into left and right hand groups. You gain rank by playing and beating your opponent. At first, there won't be much tournaments you'll be able to attend to due to your low ranking.Soon, however, after much training, you'll be able to attend the top tournaments, such as Wimbeldon and U.S. Open. Now the dislikes...you don't improve your skill by playing matches.Training in those mini games is mandatory, instead of something to pass time on.I'd also loved to have a realistic partner training to improve your skills. Also, as with every other tennis game I played...the service is a joke.I have nearly maxed out my service yet I have only scored a couple aces.Serve a power service going 120mph, and your opponent not only returns it with ease, they'll return it with such pace and angle, you're left playing catch up the whole point. It also goes the same for your opponents service. The only time they get aces is when I pretty much let them. Also, due to the lack of skill improvement by playing actual matches, attaining the top 10 rank will take too much time.It took me over 10 years to attain that rank! Hopefully sega will release a new version in the near future that addresses many of the finer points. ... Read more

HSG3 is a golf game that doesn't take itself serious. The taunts are really funny and will be stuck in your head for days. The courses feel very lifelike, full of colors and unlockable animals, great weather effects. Since I sold my memory card last year, I am playing through the tourney mode, unlocking all the clubs and other goodies once again. If you are looking for a serious golf game with collared shirt stiffs, this is not your game. The Power Meter system in this games works just fine for me, but I hear the controls in Tiger are really good as well. I'm not a golfer and don't have any serious plans of ever becoming one. I've been on a golf course less times than I have fingers on my left hand. Don't even know why I actually ever bought this game, in all truth. Good reviews I guess, something different from all the action titles and RPGS out there. Not too serious a game if you don't want it to be, but the depth is there if you're looking for it;about 12 unlockable players, tourneys, unlockable clubs and courses. Great fun.;o)

Amazon.com Review Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat is in fact surprisingly fun given thatnone of its component parts are all that impressive. The graphics are nothing towrite home about, the combat system is ordinary, the characters generic. Buteverything about the game, even its standard-issue story, has an earnest, irresistible charm. Though there are plenty of battles, the vibe of the game isgentle. After all the bloody, "edgy" games we have seen lately (and believe me,the deluge of blood and edginess has barely begun), there is somethingrefreshingly old-fashioned about a game whose vanquished characters disappear ina discreet poof. With a straight face, the game asks you to collect magicseashells, travel through magic portals, and talk to birdies. I almost foundmyself looking around for My Little Pony. The only really annoying thing is Katarina's inability to walk uphill. Here's awoman who can dispatch three pirates simultaneously while doing a backflip, butwho can't walk up the gentlest grassy incline. Ascend more than a few feet, andKatrina slides down like a snowboarder. She looks darn sporty doing it, but whenyou're trying to investigate a burning mansion or some other interestingfeature, it's very frustrating. This game is a good time, even if your socks are still on when you finish.--David Stoesz Pros: Reviews (28)
The ship concept is awesome, basically you start out with a ship with 2 cannons then you get more money and your ship gets bigger and you get alot more cannons. How many more cannons you ask?Well a big boat holds 50 cannons per side, not bad... Oh ya you get different thingies (Sorry can't remember what they're called) to put on the front of your boat.Like one lets you ram other evil boats, one lets you shoot lightning cannons balls etc... I like the ship concept better then playing as the girl, but shes pretty cool, she gets two swords and you get different betters swords as the game progresses. The fighting style is like fencing, it looks pretty cool Well that's all I have, I liked it and had fun playing it. ... Amazon.com Review Tricky removes two characters from the previous game and adds five newones. It adds two new race locations to the already beefed-up World Circuit(Garibaldi and Alaska). The developers also added features to the older tracks, effectively making them new again. Tricky improves the graphics a bit andrefines the controls. The game even tweaks the basic gameplay by letting youupgrade your boarder's stats in races, but also forcing you to attempt andmaster the showoff mode. And EA improved the challenge by evening out thelearning curve. SSX tended to be a cakewalk until the later races in eachset, but this time your rivals get more intense and aggressive depending uponthe lap you're taking. As in the first game, personality is everything. This is true not only in termsof voice acting, but also in how you treat opponents. The game has a few basicattitudes. If you block and attack characters too much, they'll remember andactively seek you out. If you help one or two of them, they'll become yourallies, warning you of danger or fending off attackers. In many ways, SSX Tricky is only an upgrade of the previous game.Admittedly, the additions don't look like enough to justify buying the game allover again. But the changes are deep enough to change quite a bit, and they'lldelight even fans who are tired of, or who mastered, the first game. Maybethat's the most impressive über-trick of them all. --Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (145)
Although easy to learn, it is tough to master and incredibly addictive. The advanced courses are very challenging, and no matter how good you get, you always want to take 'just one more run' to pull off better tricks or beat your best race time. The game world is very realistic. You can ski off the course in search of a shortcut to the bottom, jump off cliffs looking for big air, grind on any surface (rails, fences, billboards...) and elbow your opponents in a race. There are traditional courses that look like a ski resort, but also courses through city streets (jump too high and you might hit a traffic light!), through untracked powder in Alaska, and an enormous terrain park. There are multiple characters to choose from (male and female), each with a different personality. My daughter actually enjoys spending time putting different outfits on her favorite characters before each race. I have also played SSX3, and there have been several reviews comparing the two. Here is my take: 1) Tricky is mode based- you navigate menus to select a course, choose racing or tricks, etc. SSX3 feels more like a day at the mountain, where you free ski over to a race, then to a halfpipe and so on. Which is better? It's really a matter of taste. 2) Tricky tries to build up rivalries between the characters. If you knock over an opponent, they develop animosity and gun for you in future races. Also, there is PG rated trash talk at the end of each race. I think the trash talking gets old (and repetitive) pretty quickly, but I enjoy the elbowing during the race, especially in two player mode :) 3) The music in SSX3 is more diverse, and you can customize your music as if you were carrying an MP3 player. As others have noted, SSX3 even seems to adjust the music to match your riding, with big crescendos when you land a jump. 4) I like the commentator in Tricky- he pumps things up. The commentator in SSX3 seems dull in comparison. 5) Tricky seems easier, especially for the novice. The first few courses are confidence builders, which is good for younger kids and adults who are only casual gamers, like myself. Also, tricky has a practice area where you can interactivley learn new tricks. 6) Tricky is about half the price You can't go wrong with either version. However, I'd say Tricky is better for the budget minded, younger kids or casual gamers, while SSX3 is probably better for teens, serious gamers or hardcore snowboarders.

But the game is really GREAT, EXCITING, ADVENTUROUS, CHALLENGING, and really I can go on and on.This is just my son's and my own personal opingion of this PS Game.Keep up the excellent work. Sincerely, Angela Hudnall & Markus Hudnall,
This time around, the plot is based more around the Tarzan books but uses the Disney movie characters for the playing, like it's brother on PS1. Gameplay is simple and you follow an "invisible" track that always either guides you along or behind, never able to explore the jungle past your "King of the Apes Boundry Fence." Also, with a unique twist, you can river surf, bungee jump, water ski, vine surf and do various tricks on all of them. I don't like how in today's world, all of those sports just have to have tricks to go along with them. Why not just do these sports and enjoy the ride? Still, it was rather enjoyable to do moves such as reverse sking and hand-sliding. There are also two modes of gameplay: Story Mode, which is like your typical platformer, and Terk's Challenges, (Terk is a character from the Disney movie Tarzan, for those of you who don't know.) In Terk's Mode, you do Time Attacks, Trick Score Challenges, and Terk's Super Challenge which combines the two, on every level. Most of it was pretty easy, but sometimes the Super Challenges were pretty tough to do. Anyway, this game is a true Disney Interactive game, with simple gameplay, various perks and still aims for younger Disney Movie fans and "Just-Starting-Out" video game players. Still, somtimes it's just fun to untame the beast within, and play for old-time's sake as the King of the Apes, Tarzan.

Amazon.com Review The game gives players instructions as they progress through the levels. Whenyou come to something new, Donald's nephews explain what's going on. While nothaving to read an instruction book is nice, the game explains so many simpleconcepts from the beginning that this feature hinders more than it helps. Forinstance, gift boxes contain power-ups. Power-ups are good. You should getthem. The game's graphics quality varies greatly throughout. For example, some of thebuildings show great detail while, in another area, it can be difficult to tellwhether you're facing a cliff or a thorny plant. Also, while Donald is superblyanimated, the game's many textures look grainy compared to those of other PS2titles. The sound, on the other hand, is spot on. The sound effects are also pleasantlycartoon-like, but the voices are annoying, especially Donald's. Experienced gamers will blow through this one, assuming they want to, andyounger gamers will find the game sufficiently challenging and fun. But gamersyoung and old will agree: There's nothing to like about Donald's new voice.--Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (11)
The game is very linear - you are forced to walk along a path. I can over-look this because of the cute graphics. However, some of the levels are very long and it's very tough to get through them without getting killed dozens of times. Argh!!!
This is the story: Daisy has been kidnapped by Merlock and you (Donald, of course) have to save her. Donald's friend Gyro has invented a machine that can teleport Donald to Merlock's castle so that you can save Daisy, but first you have to collect parts to make it more powerful. So you get sent through different parts of the world to collect cogs & such, and beating various bosses along the away. Huey, Louie and Dewey hang around to give Donald tips and teach him "Special Moves". Though it appears to be a kids' game, it's actually pretty challenging & at times frustrating, so I wouldn't recommend it for younger gamers. Like I said, if you like the Crash series, then you'll probably like this game. Overall it has PS2-worthy graphics & speed, decent plot depth and good gameplay. It's definitely worth trying out, but rent it before you buy it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review The game has Frogger on a quest to find a princess who can transform him into ahuman through a kiss. The developers attempt to mimic the 3-D platform action ofgames like Crash Bandicoot and Rayman, but fail to deliver on manyfronts: the controls are unresponsive, the camera system is infuriating, and thegraphics suffer from clipping and frame-rate problems. Players can beat the gamein fewer than five hours, and it would be a lot shorter if the load timesweren't so horribly long. Amazon.com Review Graphically, no one can touch the stunning visuals and attention to detail thatEA Sports has given to every ballplayer and stadium. Most players' facesaccurately resemble their real-life counterparts (albeit with oversized heads),and they come complete with customized batting stances and perfectly rendereduniform detail. The ballparks themselves come alive in breathtaking beauty as avariety of camera angles put you right on the field and in the seats. But too many inconsistencies and omissions hold this game back from greatness. Most unrealistic is the frequency of home runs and the ease with which you'reable to score runs--the novelty wears off pretty fast after swatting long ballafter long ball and finding yourself tied 9-9 in the 4th inning. Playing at therookie, pro, or all-star level does little to stem the outpouring of runs, anddoes even less to shorten the tedious game pace, perhaps the mostunintentionally realistic part of Triple Play 2002. Fielding could usesome fine-tuning as well. And when does EA Sports plan to reintroduce injuriesto this series? Game modes still feature fully customizable season options and the home runderby, either one-on-one or tournament (up to eight players). But gone from thederby, strangely, is the option to choose from past legendary players andmembers of the 500-home-run club. Calling the action this year is the two-man announcing team of Bob Costas andHarold Reynolds. Costas thankfully keeps things more low-key than his real-lifepersona, while Reynolds dishes the sass like a pro ("This isn't an eyetest--swing the bat!"). --Larry White Pros: Reviews (47)
With that said, there are a few things that bother me about this game: 1) In the game, the home team takes the 3rd base dugout in every stadium. What's up with that? I've been a baseball fan all of my life and pros and cons aside - this is a terrific game to play.I think it might cure my offseason blues.
First, I found the levels of play a bit unbalanced. The "Rookie" level is, as intended, very easy. The problem comes between the two top levels. In the "Professional" level, it takes a short period of time to easily dominate the game. Yet if you move up to the "All-Star" level it is nearly impossible to win consistently without a top team, no matter how good you are. The problem is that suddenly EVERY computer comtrolled player makes All-Star plays on defense on EVERY play and you cannot sneak a fastball by anyone when pitching...even with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. The realism is lost at this level in order to make the computer more competitive. The problem is that this punishes players who really would be unbeatable otherwise. Second, the graphical representation of the uniforms is not as good as in some competing games. This is only a minor criticism and most people would not even notice it. I am nit-picking to be sure. Finally, there is a limit of 24 slots for created players. If you are someone who is interested in keeping rosters current, this will grow frustrating late in the year when more and more rookies get called up and suddenly you are out of spots to creatr them. If you do not care about keeping the rosters in line with the "real world", this is of no concern. Even with these criticisms, this is a fantastic game. It has outstanding playability, incredibly detailed stadiums, complete rosters that are current as of January 15th, plenty of player info and ratings, and tons of statistics to give you every aspect of your game or season. While future versions are sure to continue to improve on the Triple Play brand name, this one is certainly worth the price of admission for true baseball fans. ... Read more

The pirate Admiral Razorbeard and his army of robots have enslaved theplanet, and it's your job in Revolution to help Rayman searchfor pieces of the Primordial Core and summon Polokus to get rid of therobotic pirates. The levels are even the same as they were in TheGreat Escape, although there have been some slight changes made tothe order in which they appear. Due to the power of the PS2 and thedetail put into reworking the levels for the game, they lookspectacular. Ubi Soft has mixed old-school gameplay with graphicspower, and those ingredients mixed together make this game a must-playfor gamers of all ages. Despite the borrowed elements from The Great Escape,Revolution for the PS2 offers up plenty of new things that willmake the hearts of platform gamers skip a beat, just like when theyfirst played Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. It looks likethis time, Rayman will finally get the respect he deserves. --ToddMowatt Pros: Reviews (45)
Many people keep saying that this game isn't any good because it's not as nice looking as Jak & Daxter nor a fun as Spyro or Crash and I would have to agree. One reason for this is that Rayman is not these games, but nonetheless it's a wonderful gaming experience.I know this is a first gen PS2 title and there are tons of better looking games on the market, but I would have to say that I really liked the atmosphere and environments of Rayman. The game was a little slow moving at first but if you have a little patience the intensity of the game will beging to increase as well as the fun factor. It may seem a little childish at times, which to me was fine, but if you need a little more maturity you can always slap GTA3 into your PS2 and get your fix. I gave this game a 4 instead of a 5 for a couple reasons; which seemed minor in the beginning but became very frustrating as the game progressed. The were as follows: 1. The constant loading and then asking you if you want to save was very very annoying, probably the worst I have ever experienced. There are times when you will come out of loading and then go thru a door or down a path and immediately be asked to save or continue and then the game would start to load again.I know this may sound like I'm overreacting, but when you have to go back and forth between areas, this becomes a real pain in the A**... real fast. 2.There is quite a bit of aliasing (jaggies) during the game although it is not overwhelming it is noticeable. 3.The voice acting was subpar and low in volume. There were times when I just couldn't make out what the heck the characters were talking about or what my next mission objective was. Overall this game is a solid experience and ,especially at the new reduced price, a solid PS2 purchase. It may not be the flashiest or most original title on the market, but what it lacks in luster in makes up in spades with consistency.
The orignal on DreamCast was fun, and this port doesn't fall through the cracks.Believe it or not, a bad port can ruin a good game....but RayMan2 for the PS2 holds the magic that the original had.It looks good and it plays good...the part is, anyone can play it.Parents don't need to worry about young kids playing this....it's appropriate for everyone. This game is a great example of 3D Platforming done right...hopefully RayMan3 will be just as good, maybe better!Great game, and makes you anticipate the next one. A must own title, no need to rent this one. ... Read more
