Editorial Review Diablo was and is one of the great PC role-playing games, and this PlayStation port holds true tothe original. You create your character--Warrior, Sorcerer, or Rogue--and take him or her up in experiencelevels as you hack your way down, level by level, to the bottom of the dungeon beneath the cathedral, where Diablo awaits. Along the way you gain a lot of cool magical artifacts, weapons, and equipment. These mystical tools define your character as much as or more than the obligatory character stats such asstrength, dexterity, and stamina. The game's only flaws are due to its translation to the PlayStation. The controls can be difficult, especiallywith ranged weapons, and the two-player mode throws both characters on the same screen, often making itproblematic to negotiate the various rooms of any given level. Complaints aside, Diablo is a solid hack and slash adventure game. You'd be either a fool or acoward to pass it up. --John Cocking Pros: Features Reviews (23)

Editorial Review It begins when Aya is attending an opera at Carnegie Hall. The soloist bursts into song and theaudience bursts into flames. Somehow, Aya is the only attendee who isn't affected. Notsurprisingly, she wants to know what's going on. This curiosity, coupled with her duties as a policeofficer, grows into a full-scale investigation. Parasite Eve's mechanics are simple, yet elegant. From combat to level advancement, thegame runs easily and smoothly, making it ideal for someone new to role-playing games (RPGs).Experienced RPGers should still enjoy it for its brilliant storyline. Technically speaking, the game's graphics and sound are good, but not spectacular. The full-motioncutscenes are superbly done. Parasite Eve is a good game--there's just not enough of it.While it doesn't feel crammed together, the story seems to resolve quickly. Brilliant while it lasted,Parasite Eve left me wanting more. --John Cocking Pros: Features Reviews (103)

Editorial Review The main story line is standard role-playing fare. The powerful GeneralBaal has plans to unleash something of a Pandora's box on the world, and you can guess whose job it is to stop him. Grandia providesa world packed with colorful characters who are fun to talk to, and theunconventional combat system lets players pick and choose their fights. The characters in your party grow, as do their magical skills andweapons, meaning there's always some new accomplishment just around thecorner that keeps players adventuring long into the night. Role-playingfans should be overjoyed that this conversion from the Sega Saturnclassic was made, as it provides weeks of solid adventuring that neverbecomes a chore. --T. Sorry. The game is cool.Graphics are nice (not the best but better than some). The music is excellent. The voice acting is skippy but it works. The magic system can be difficult to figure out in the beggining and hard to level, but hey ^-^ there are places to level them without cheat codes.[For water, try standing in the green water at the tower and heal yourself. It does work, though it does take a few hours for each character--recommending Feena to level 99 water/wind.] I love the game overall despite the bad voice acting.Nothing tops the original, I suppose.Oh, and who can ever pass up having their final boss fight inside of a coach-roach? ... The graphic is totally awesome, just like the arcade! Even for today's standard, the graphic is still very good! The hand drawn cartoon animation is unique and beautiful. This game has better graphics than Contra SS, seriously. Due to the limited memory of PS ONE, the explosions were degraded to "big pixels". This does not ruin the game in any way, the big pixel explosion blends well with the cartoon graphic. The music is typical 16 bit, nothing impressive but still good. Each stage has its own music theme, pretty cool. The gameplay is totally awesome, non stop carnage and a feel of free style which contra SS totally lacks. The control is pretty solid but is a tiny bit floaty. The game is easy due to unlimited continues. This game is super fun, you will keep coming back for more! Multi player is even better. The gameplay never slows down, but I use a PS2. Metal Slug 3 is coming to PS2! GBA will also get a Metal Slug but which one I don't know. Overall this treasure is a MUST BUY for old school gamers or gamers who appreciate solid FUN 2-D action. I LOVE THIS GAME!

Editorial Review The 3-D environments in Silent Hill are bathed in fog ordarkness, making its dismal setting all the more eerie; this alsoallows for some spectacular lighting effects when using a flashlight inthe dark. Granted, there are some pretty coarse graphics being obscuredhere, but it's a fair trade-off, considering the game's short loadtimes. Silent Hill is played from a third-person perspective, viewedfrom both fixed and moving camera angles. As with similar games, theviewpoint can be awkward at times, especially during combat, which hereis so clunky that you should try to avoid it whenever possible--somethingyou should do anyway, as this isn't Tomb Raider. Rather than resort to cheap scare tactics, Silent Hill featuresa gameplay twist that works very well with its limited visibilityenvironments. Harry carries a radio with him that crackles with staticwhenever the game's nasties are near, and continues until they're nolonger in the vicinity or have been killed off. (Enemies may requirefurther whacking when they're down, as they like to play dead.)Additionally, the supported Dual-Shock controller pulsates in aheartbeatlike fashion whenever you're moderately or seriously injured.--Joe Hon Pros: Reviews (182)

Editorial Review Your allies and superiors speak to you via a cool, implanted radio, monitoring your progress, offeringtips--but failing to give you the full story. The combination of a mysterious and engaging plot and high in-game tension makes this a thrilling ride. Campy humor also abounds as you rescue beautiful women, verbally spar with your allies, and blow up enemies in the bathroom. A user-friendly control interface allows for sniping, hiding, crawling, and running, and the graphics leave nothing to be desired. If you like espionage, spy movies, or just want to own and play a piece of gaming history, then this is a must have. Metal Gear Solid is one of the all-time greats. Game tip: Secretly attach plastic explosives behind an enemy, sneak out of the room, and see what happens. --Allen Stewart Pros: Features Reviews (265)

Amazon.com Review In the game, wild Digimon are attacking the city, and you've been drafted tojoin the guards to fight, capture, and "digivolve" them. You're armed with anifty creature vehicle called a Digi-Beetle, and you'll adventure throughseveral midsize dungeons looking for, subduing, and ultimately capturingrampaging Digimon creatures. After you get them, you can trade them or mergethem with your Digi-Beetle to give yourself new powers and abilities. Forexample, such a merging might increase your defense or attack power so you canexplore more dungeons and capture more Digi-monsters. There is a paper-thinquest and story to unravel, but it's the new powers and abilities that'll keepyou playing. Perhaps the worst of the rampaging monsters this game offers is the curse ofsameness. There are 30 dungeons and you'll face hordes of monsters, but thevariety wears thin because the dungeons all look alike. Another problem is thatthe graphics are muddy and fail to fully capitalize on the aging PlayStation'scapabilities. Fortunately, fans will still enjoy taming and capturing thecreatures. --Andrew S. The EPsucks. I was so close to the koritermon booss, that culd spit on him but Since I didn't have enough eP to move on I culdn't beat him. So i had to upgrade My EP by the mechanic. The max Ep you can have is 500. When you visit the Medatation Dome, talk to angemon and he will give you 2000 bits.

Editorial Review In addition to fighting, players will also encounter mini-games, such as the foot race "Battle Beach" and strategy game"Battle Panel" (think Othello). This game also contains several elements that will be instantly familiar to RPG fans.Ehrgeiz may not satisfy gamers who want a dedicated RPG or fighting game, but it does offer a diverse rangeof gameplay for the casual gamer with a limited attention span. --Carrie Bell Pros: Features Reviews (21)

Editorial Review This title has bright graphics in six well-developed worlds, each with several subworlds, including bogs, deserts, and ice worlds. Unlike some action games, in Spyro the Dragon the enemies are more fun than frightening. In the Peace Keepers world, for example, Spyro must burn down the monster soldiers' tent, sending one of the minions running out, quaking with fear or, if you're lucky, dropping his drawers and shooting a moon. Spyro's movements (fire breathing, gliding, jumping, and climbing) require entry-level gaming skills. For this reason, Spyro the Dragon is an excellent title for youngsters or less experienced players, who want to play without having to master complex movement combinations. --Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (128)

The animation in this game is atrocious to say the least. The characters seem to snap back into their poses too quickly and awkwardly. The controls are pretty simple to use and moves are easy to execute. There are no fatalities, however, which I find a major drawback. Even though you can unlock new characters, it's not worth it.All of them are just carbon copies of the original ones you are given. The Megaraptor and Spinosaurus are identical right down to their fighting moves. It's still a fun game, but definately not one of the best.

Graphically, it's a step down from the old Doom days.Characters are made of HUGE sprites--The closer you get, the more blocky they are.Backgrounds/levels are huge, but poorly done. Most levels are just plain boring and the colors are extremely dull looking. The sound, out of everything, is fairly good.Effects and voices are above that average level. The music, though, is a disappointment. This is a 32-bit game with an 8-bit soundtrack. One thing in every Star Wars movie that's done well with pride is the music score. All Star Wars games should be no different than the movies with the same score. This game is one of those games where the music is just plain bad. Fun value is on the average level, as well.Where most everything is dull, the enjoyment of blasting Stormtroopers, Probe Droids, etc. is fun for every Star Wars fan. If you enjoy first person shooters and the Star Wars movie series, then give it a try. It's cheap money-wise, however, it's just that, as well (gameplay-wise)--cheap.
Here's what I think of this game. First, it was made early PlayStation era, so the graphics are terrible. From far away, the enemies look like cardboard cut outs, and when you get close enough to see them, they're just a giant blur. (Think of when you see a face scrambled by a computer on 'Cops' or something.) Also, the guns are quite weak. To add to the problems of this game, the levels are not fun, and you just run around until you either die because of its difficulty, or because of boredom. This game presents no replay value considering you'll get annoyed before finishing the first level. And this game will cost you twenty dollars! With that cash, you could buy EP1 or put it towards something much better than this. Really, it looks worse than the old Street Fighter games for Sega Genesis. Yes, it's a first person game, but guess what? So is Medal or Honor, and now that it's a best seller, you can purchase that for the same price as this. And to add to the disappointment if that's at all possible, you don't even play as a known character. Like in the X-Files for PSX, you play as some nobody character. If you're going to present us this waste of money, at least give us Han or Luke! Maybe Lando, even. So take my advice. Would you rather own an old game with the 'Star Wars' license that was made in 1994, or an award winner such as Medal of Honor, which was released in late 1999? ... Read more | |

The best part about this game is that you cannot see the fish in the water. When you are fishing you must look for locations that would produce fish, also you must use your fish findertoo. It's very real, seasons change in real life and they do in the game as well. In real life you must change locations when seasons change so in the game much is the same. The level of game play can also change. You can fish in free fish mode. This mode lets you enjoy fishing at your own pace, so you can bulid your skills for the Tournament mode. This mode lets you compete with other anglers for the 1st place spot in the championship. You must learn how to fish under all differnt conditions rain, cold weather, windy, and warm. This game was made for the fisherman by fisherman. Something you do not see when it comes to outdoor games. Usually games are very unreal, leading to disapointing purchase. Not with this game you will begin happy and end happy!!!! The game also has many kinds of fish not just bass. There is Trout,Blue Gill,Carp,Snakehead,Largemouth Bass,Smallmouth Bass,Spotted Bass,Florida Bass, and others. pick up a copy you will be impressed. But I'm not liable for sore fingers due to extended game play because it will be hard to put down!!!!!! Enjoy, and good fishing!
The fishing controller is what makes this a sweet deal. It's compatible with almost every fishing game out there, and adds to the realism of the game. Sometimes with some games the casting is a little sketchy (I thought I put more oomph in it than that???), but all in all it's a nice piece of hardware that makes a good game better.
