Editorial Review Depending on the size of your catch, battles with bass can last 20minutes or more as you raise and lower the rod, let the reel spool free, and tighten it in to bring home your catch. We recommend using anoptional fishing-rod controller for even more realism. With four sweeping lakes to tackle, players have plenty of locations tosearch for the big one. Tournament and career modes pit gamers againstcomputer fishermen as they try to catch the heaviest five bass within aset time limit. Bluegills and catfish also fill the lakes, but it's thebig bass that players will be after. --Robb Guido Pros: Reviews (7)

Amazon.com Review Basically a direct port of the incredible Nintendo 64, PC, and Dreamcastversions, the PlayStation's RayMan 2: The Great Escape has a lot goingfor it. Great gameplay, amazing visuals, and outstanding sound all combine tomake this platform title kick butt. As the Rayman 2: The Great Escapestory goes, evil mechanical pirates, led by Razorbeard, have enslaved theinhabitants of Rayman's world. You must help Rayman collect four magical masksto wake up a god who will make those pirates walk the plank. Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a lot of fun, and as you make your waythrough the adventure, you must pick up fragments of energy called "lums." Alongthe way, you will also be required to free cute characters that have been put incages and enslaved by the evil pirates. There is plenty of eye candy in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, the upbeatmusic is a joy to listen to, and the voice work is one of the best parts of thegame. The control scheme is very intuitive, which is essential for anyplatformer. It's very easy to pick up, but even the best gamer will still lovemastering the environments. Rayman 2: The Great Escape is one of the best platform games ever madefor the PlayStation. The game is challenging and addictive, and will appeal togamers of all skill levels. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Features Reviews (7)

Editorial Review Despite concerns that the presence of a single car brand would result ina lack of variety among racing options, Need for Speed: PorscheUnleashed does offer an impressive amount of diversity. Not allPorches are created alike, and the old 356 handles much differently thana newer 911.Thus, there is much potential in this all-Porscheoffering. Unfortunately, while this game has received strong critical acclaim inits PC incarnation, the PlayStation conversion contains some problems. For example, the track graphics are a bit muddy, and the cars appearfuzzier in this game. Worse still, the physics model for driving is wayoff. Surprisingly, older titles in the Need for Speed series lookand play better than this. Unless you are a Porsche nut, steer clear ofthis one. --T. There is also a "part-timer" mode where you do some wacky things with the power shovel like scooping soup, moving turtles from one swimming pool to another, and demolishing a car. Each of the 3 game types has a limited number of continues, and allows you to progress in the game without just letting you play through until you finish.I think the mix of that is about right. I have probably spent more time with this game than I have with any other this year.I originally bought this game for my 4 and 6 year old kids because they really like construction type toys and games.Controlling the shovel is way to difficult for children that age.Every single button on the controller is used for something. But I have had a blast with it. ... There is one very cute thing in the program. EA put in a boxing stadium in Redwood Shores California where they are based. The funny thing is that there is no bxing arena in Redwood Shore!! It is just where EA is based. I thought that was a nice touch. Go ahead and get it, just don't expect it to be an earth shattering experience.

Editorial Review Your job is a big one: unite China under your rule. To accomplish thistask, you must sway your enemies through use of diplomacy, subterfuge, and force, all the while keeping your homelands protected and yourpeople fed. No one man could do all this, so you must delegateauthority to a variety of historical officers with varying degrees ofability. Some are suited for leading troops in battle, and some arebetter at spying. It's up to you to pick the best man for the job. The game's biggest problem is its interface, which consists of dozensof nested menus, packed with commands that are not very well describedin the thin manual. This is not a title you load up for a quick gamingfix, but one that--if it's your cup of tea--you start playing on Fridaynight and continue through Monday (after calling in sick).Unfortunately, few gamers will have the patience or resolve to overcomethe more frustrating aspects of RotTK VI. --T. ByrlBaker Pros: Features Reviews (16)
The only draw back is that battles can last only 1 month and attacking cities is kind of a bore due to lack of strategies the gamer can employ. All in all, a must own, especially if new to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms saga.
The war portion, which is the lion's share of this game, is fine.In fact, it's better than ever. But that also betrays the game's biggest fault: besides the war, there's not a lot to do.You can make general improvements to 3 categories of your city (farming, commerce, safety) but that's about the extent of interaction with your city. The rest of your options are mostly recruiting generals (hint: get as many as you can early on, as they are difficult to obtain later) amassing troops (no training though) and giving ranks to your generals. There are some limited diplomacy measures that hardly ever work, and get very tiresome (like much of this game,) and that doesn't help. So you are left to merely amass more troops than your neighbor, and enough generals to lead them.Other than that, it gets pretty... well... boring. The cut scenes are nice, the history is very rich and deep, and some minor troop enhancements make the battles a little more weighty. But we've arrived again at the problem of battle being the only redeeming quality of the game. Yes, you can have very short conversations with your generals (that are mostly pointless), you can install traps around your castles (at least it gives you something to do), and receive visitors that bear gifts and gold. But there's still something missing.Just like Kessen on PS2, this game lacks a real focus on the city-building portion, which leaves you with a great war simulator, but the vast stretches in between might very well leave you snoozing.(Kessen solved this problem by simply eliminating that pesky "city management" phase, and relying more heavily on an automatically advancing storyline.) I simply cannot give any Koei game less than 4 stars, and regardless of any negative reviews, I still would have bought this. But I can't say I was entirely satisfied, especially when one's expectations have grown over the years, only to be met with more "same old, same old." ... This is at to begin with but the first two halls are completed very quickly. Arcade- I cannot get past this. Extras: Find out which crushes you can get. Play the games (apart from Journalism- but that's the best!) against the computer or a friend. Not Mary-Kate and Ashely's best but a very good effort.

There are five kinds of questions on this game. The types of questions are multiple choice, Dis or Dat, Wendithap'n, Coikydink, and Jack Attack.Despite what other reviewers say that there isn't the Dis or Dat they are wrong.I know this because I have the game and I just copied the question types out of the instruction booklet. The multiple choice question is the question that occurs most often.A question pops up and four choices are given to pick from.If buzzed in to early, the player will not be able to see the question and/or see the screen and will most likely get it wrong. A Dis or Dat is a one player matching question. Two categories are shown and the point is to separate the seven answers that appear into these categories. Some of the time there is a third category that means that the answer would fit into both of the categories. A Wendithap'n is a question that asks if an event happened before, after, or never happened to another event. This question type was first in You Don't Know Jack Louder! Faster! Funnier! first and is not original despite what other reviewers say. Jack Attack is the last question of the game and can decide the game.A hint is shown in the middle of the screen and potential matches pop up for the players to buzz in on.Buzzing in isn't limited and can cost a player a ton of their money if they constantly buzz in wrong. You Don't Know Jack Mock 2 is a good game despite being two games compiled into one.Even if you own You Don't Know Jack 5th Dementia and You Don't Know Jack Louder! Faster! Funnier! for the computer, this game is still fun.If you own the games you can know the answers ahead of time and show off to your friends.(MWAHAHA!)
The host of this game is Schmitty, not Cookie. The difference is that Cookie was a much better host.Schmitty gets the job done, though. This game is not slow-paced AT ALL.If anything, it's too fast-paced.In the PC versions, the host introduces the theme of the show before jumping right in.In the Playstation version no screen was made for the host to introduce the theme, so he just does it after saying the category of the first question.What...? Also, the "When'dit'hapin" question type is completely new to the YDKJ series. You won't be able to find it in any of the other games, PC or Playstation. Finally, some more comments: during the final "Jack Attack" round, the center word is colored exactly the same as the area around it in the beginning, making it very hard to answer the question. Also, the game is supposed to automatically save the high scores onto your memory card, but it will only save onto memory card slot 1, and won't give you any message if there's no card in the slot.
I must mention, however that if you own The Ride, Louder! Faster! Funnier!, and/or 5th dementia, I would reccomend that you do NOT buy this game.Sierra seems to have a bad habit of pulling questions from existing Jack games for the playstation versions. This kind of makes sense, since it brings some of the funniest YDKJ questions to PSX owners who don't have PCs. Editorial Review Solo players will skate to win the world championship, with over 100 moves available to score points, including slides, grinds, and landing tricks. A split screen allows players to compete against each other. During this head-to-head mode, you can score style points, race between obstacles, or play tag. If you opt for graffiti mode, both players compete against each other by "tagging" objects while performing their tricks. A replay mode is available for players to view highlights at the end of a game. The level design is enormous, with 10 interactive courses, including skate and pool parks, half pipes, and a downtown area. Each skating environment is filled with secret places, shortcuts, and obstacles. Once you get the moves down, you can perform a trick off of just about any object that you see. Tony Hawk is not the only star in this game--the music stands strong on its own. Cool cuts come from Primus and the Dead Kennedys--which can be inspiring during the frantic onscreen action. While game control is relatively solid, there are some minor problems in tight areas. This title is so large it is overwhelming, given the enormity of levels and available moves. However, persistent skate pros will master this game with a little practice. (Fortunately, there is a practice mode to scrape your knees on.) --Kasty Thomas Pros: Reviews (154)

Editorial Review The story runs somewhere between Mortal Kombat and your wildest dreams of demolition derbies. But the paper-thin plot doesn't matter: you have a rad car and aren't afraid to use it. Whether you choose to control the monster truck driven by the little old lady, Mr. Grimm's motorcycle o' death, or what is quite possibly the coolest ice-cream truck ever, you'll speed and skid around the asphalt-covered levels, grabbing power-ups and blowing up your opponents with a wide array of vehicle-mounted weaponry. In a game like this, several things are key: physics, control, and level design. Twisted Metal III departs from the previous games in the franchise. The levels are smaller and the physics and controls conspire to make the vehicles handle oddly. The bottom line: car-smashing fun that doesn't quite live up to the glories of the prequels. --John Cocking Pros: Features Reviews (63)

Amazon.com Review Despite the fact that it's mostly derivative, the game has a fewoutstanding features. It contains lots of full-motion video sequences, albeit at the expense of load times. The real gem is the soundtrack, which is a nice mix of punk, electronica, hip-hop, and rock. It'sdefinitely one of the best video game soundtracks ever. If you're looking for the best BMX game on the PlayStation, this is it.If you're a fan of extreme sports in general, you'd be better servedwith THPS2 or waiting for THPS3. --Raymond M.Padilla Pros: Reviews (37)

This game does offer variety with two types of racing and four racing team. Not only each team offers various difficulty, but also it offers different storylines. I have especially enjoyed night setting race course, with music which it brings out the essence of each course to its max. May be something's wrong with me for I just couldn't enjoy 'awesome' Gran Turismo games (third installment was very enjoyable)..you might say.. but this game was MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE than Gran Turismo, Don't miss it!
Sound: 9/10 - Fantastic! Not too much of this comes from the cars themselves, but the groovy soundtrack, great commentator and crashing sounds give this baby a boost! Value: 7/10 - A fun car racing game that lasts a long time and challenges you to do better. But in this genre, we have seen games done better and you might want to go off and play them instead. Overall: 8/10 - What can I say? I thought this was a blast. It was fun, energetic and speedy. A good instalment to the Ridge Racer series. The cars were brilliant and the Great Gran Prix is the best part. However, Ridge Racer Type 4 loses points because it is simply too much like Gran Turismo and you might tire of its same-old routine. Still lots of fun and recommended! ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Product Description Reviews (14)
The graphics, presented in an overhead 3D adventure-type view of the battle arena, are fairly good. The intro movie is excellent.Powerpuff Girls fans will especially enjoy seeing the show's intro in 3D animation..Overall, things are nice and colorful and do a good job of creating an atmosphere similar to the show..The sound is also good, although some more soundbytes from the characters or the show would have been nice. The controls are fairly simple, albeit somewhat sluggish. In fact, my first impression with the game was that it was quite slow. However, as you get into the game a little more, the pace seems to be just about right for the gameplay style...Still, it can be a bit tedious at times... As for difficulty and longevity..There are several villains and arenas to unlock by playing through the story mode with each Powerpuff Girl. These can also be unlocked with passwords that can be found online.Normally, the ability to unlock secrets would add to the longevity of the game, but there aren't many villains to defeat, and the game can be finished fairly quickly...I beat this game and unlocked all of the secrets the first night I played it...That's not to say it's easy...it's actually fairly difficult even on "easy" mode, probably to the point that it would frustrate some of the younger fans of the show. However, with so few battles to win, it becomes a matter of persistance rather than skill...fighting each villain over and over until you defeat them. After you beat the game, there's not much point to doing it again. Then it comes down to the simulator mode, a one or two player single battle game that becomes very tedious after about a day.In other words, it's very likely to become one of those games that sits on a shelf indefinitely after playing it for a day or two... Well, the bottom line is that it's fun for a while. It's definitely not an outstanding game.It IS somewhat violent..but those of you complaining about the violence might want to try watching an actual episode of the cartoon..If you're a big fan of the Powerpuff Girls, it's probably worth buying just to dust off every once in a while, watch the intro movie, and play a bit..For anyone else, I'd say it deserves a rental, but you'll find that even the rental period will probably outlast the enjoyment you'll get from the game...
The characters in this game move extremely slow.It makes it difficult and frustrating to play this game.I may not be an obsessive gamer, but I am 18 and have the necessary motor skills to play a freaking video game!So obviously there is something wrong with the game.I wish I had read everyone's online reviews before getting this game, because I would not have gotten it if I had.I would recommend getting anything from the Spyro series if you're looking to play a cute, fun game. You can actually get somewhere with those! Also, Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy is a cute game for girls.
