Amazon.com Review

A 3-D action-adventure game starring everyone's favorite webhead,Spider-Man is quite a rarity--a superhero video game that's worth playing.Featuring an original story jam-packed with characters and locations from thecomics, and, more importantly, gameplay that does our hero justice, this is onetitle that won't disappoint Spidey fans.

While Spider-Man's story line (told via a slide show of comic book panels)is linear, there's great freedom of movement within the game's 3-D indoor andoutdoor environments. True to comic book form, you can climb walls and travelabout webswinging, although the former can be disorientating in terms ofpoint-of-view, and the latter is often a leap of faith, as the game's shoddygraphics (even with the optional Expansion Pak) create a restricted field ofvision. In addition to being able to do all sorts of nifty things with yourwebspinners, Spidey's superstrength, superagility, and spider-sense (for whichyou'll want a Rumble Pak to feel the patented tingle) are also accounted for. Asfor his superhuman reflexes, well, that one's really up to you. --JoeHon

Pros:

  • Gameplay that actually does Spider-Man justice
  • Simple in-game display; solid controls
  • Lots of secrets unlock in records and gallery modes
  • Kid mode simplifies controls and gameplay for younger players
Cons:
  • Shoddy graphics can cause Spidey to go splat
  • Point-of-view can be disorienting at times
  • PlayStation version features much-improved graphics and sound

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Spidey!
I only tried this game on Ps2 but on that system it was very good.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun But Falls Three Too Many Web Zips behind
This game has awesome gameplay. This gets it 4 Stars.

This game has below average graphics for the N64's power. 1 1/2 Star.

The Plot Line is great and includes other marvel characters like Human Torch, Captain America, and the Punisher. 4 Stars

The Fact that I beat it 6 times in 5 days makes it run out of webs in the middle of a 100-foot off the ground web sling. 0 Stars.

Average: 2 stars

I recommend Spider-Man: The movie which is out for GCN, PS2, and The X-Box.

4-0 out of 5 stars It passes the time... and that's all I ask
What surprised me most when I first popped this cartridge into my system and turned on the unit, was how much of a likeness that the game bore to 'Maximum Carnage,' the title that was Spider Man's foray into Sega Genesis. Although it's been awhile since I've played 'Maximum Carnage,' I distinctly remember how Spidey and Venom looked in that game, as well as how the story went. It seemed as if attempts were made to just simply adapt 'Carnage' to Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation, and Game Boy Color. The only differences I could see between the games, other than the more straight-out fighting style and lack of big name villains, was the fact that 'Carnage' was only a partially 3-D game with more of an emphasis on battling villains then on travelling throughout the three dimensional background and swinging from building to building. Even a few of the early villains look a bit similar.

What I next noticed was just how of an all-around solid game it was. I was completely enamored for the first three or four levels before I began to notice the occasional flaws and inconsistencies. The first level, just a really simple swing from building to building, is a testament to not only the beauty of the graphics, but how smooth the game runs, and just how fun it is. Even the voices of the characters were done beautifully, and original Spider Man creator Stan Lee's commentaries at the beginning of each level ('Looks like everyone's favourite wallcrawler is in a bit of trouble') was just a real cool touch.

From there though, I began to discover little things about the game that just bothered me a bit. First was the occasional glitch in the game. Although their occurences were few and far between, they did ruin the mood of the game. Most of these glitches occured while using the dome of webbing to protect Spidey. Oftentimes the webbing would just randomly float in mid-air, just sitting there. But, no biggie, no games are perfect.

Second was the weak storyline. I found it a little hard to understand what was going on throughout the game. The story just seemed to jump at random from being attacked by Rhino to fighting off symbiotes with the help of Venom. I was pretty confused at a couple points in the game, even after playing through a second and third time.

Thirdly is how easy the game was. I had the game set on easy, so I can't make any conjectures on how the medium and hard settings are, but I was finished with the game in less then a day. I rented it Wednesday morning at noon, and had it beat after only about 5 or 6 hours of playing. However, even though it was pretty easy to beat, some replay value is given in attempting to go back through the levels and collecting classic issues of 'Spider Man' comic books in hidden spots.

And finally, my last and biggest complaint is the cut scenes. Since I had seen the ending for the PSX version of the game while hanging around in 'Electronic Boutique' (some guy had no life and just had to go through and beat it all - surprisingly it only took him a half hour, because other people had already reached the point he started at), I was expecting the same thing from the Nintendo version. What was a brilliantly funny cut scene from PSX suddenly became a poorly directed slide show of the same scene with captions below the photos. And it wasn't just the ending either, every scene between levels was in the same form of a slide show with captions below the photos.

Despite my complaints, I thought that this game was actually extremely fun to play and I'd still mantain that it's a solid game - if only somewhat more solid for PSX. I still do recommend Spider Man, because if nothing else, it's just a fun game that doesn't have too hard of a learning curve, and will pass the time exceptionally well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spidey kicks butt!!
We rented the N64 version for my 5 year old before we bought it and he absoluley loved it.I liked that it had a kid mode, although my son is so adept he didn't play kid mode and still [did well].The spidey sense was cool as well. The characters were awesome and we really liked reading the comic strips. All in all, I would definatly recommend this game for anyone, it really is a lot of fun, even for younger players.

5-0 out of 5 stars spider-man fan says
i own the PSX version and the n64 version iv'e seen the movie own the second spider man game spider-man 2 enter electro have all the spider-man games all the books this game is very very coolmy friend and i have all the comics of spider-man so if your a hard core fan of spider-man buy it but one of the bad things is that the PSX version has FMVs and this has comic stirps so who cares buy it now. ... Amazon.com Review

WWF No Mercy picks up exactly where Wrestlemania 2000 leftoff--it uses the same wrestling engine as its predecessor, only with morewrestlers, more match types, and other additions that will make hard-corewrestling fans devilishly happy.

For starters, there are 65-plus wrestlers, including old- and new-schoolers,tossed onto carefully copied sets like Wrestlemania and SmackDown. There arealso new backstage areas, like the sharply detailed bar, which incorporates apool table for optimal slammage.

New matches, such as the ladder match and guest-referee match, offer numerouspossibilities, like using the ladder as a springboard, or ignoring pins whentaking control of the official. Weapons also abound, and now these items can behurled around, even from the floor to the ring, where they're likely to hit aclueless opponent. A story mode adds tremendous replay value to this one, givingplayers the option of turning good or bad, with a variety of consequences thatare based on that decision.

As stated, the game plays just like Wrestlemania 2000--meaning the samedegree of slowdown and questionable artificial intelligence. The slowdownparticularly hampers the game when many wrestlers take the ring at once; itseems that this title pushes the Nintendo 64 to the limit, as far as on-screenaction goes.

But the game's good points more than outweigh its bad, and, all told, NoMercy will satisfy wrestling fans who are looking for a taste of theirfavorite male melodrama. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Overwhelming number of wrestlers, complete with special moves
  • Excellent novelty matches, and plenty of weapons for clobbering opponents
Cons:
  • Big-time slowdown when the action starts to heat up in the ring

5-0 out of 5 stars great game but lacks certain qualities
this game is very well done probably the only problem is when you do a tag team or fatal four way match, the game moves slowly and takes time to get back to normal. the story is a great feature to this game, fighting backstage, starting rivalrys is very cool. also the fireball or poison mist moves really leave different marks to your opponent's face. I strongly reccommend this game to anyone who likes wrestling games.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Wrestling Game On The 64
I've always loved wrestling games and they just keep getting better and better. I've been into them since the SNES days. And when the 64 came out, WWF War Zone became my favourite, then Attitude, but then THQ started bringing out there WCW titles. I hated the WCW, so I never played them for quite a long time. I never had a go at their first release they brought out, but I somehow ended up with a copy of WCW VS NWO Revenge, at first I was focused to find every flaw I could and put it down and never look at it again, but each day I found myself playing git more and more and more and when THQ lost the rights to WCW they picked up the rights to the WWF and released a game that became my new favourite instantly, "WWF Wrestlemania" . But as the N64 was on it's way out, THQ gave one last release and made the best Wrestling game to date. I've played a lot of wrestling games, and a lot have come and gone, and a lot have had lasting value and quality, but none like this game. Next to Wrestlemania Arcade this game is the best.

There is a tonne of Wrestlers who each have 4 slots. What I mean by that is when you select your wrestler; you can select 4 different versions of that wrestler, with a different look of clothing, or hairstyle or something. Some even have a different character all together. You just press one of your buttons to toggle through them all. And a great option is that you can change every single character. You can change their cloths, name, music, everything except there moves. That mean you can completely replace a wrestler who is a default in the game if you want. Or you might just like to Change one of the 4 Rikishi's into Yokozuna, or change one of the slots of Kane and clone Undertaker so that he has the Tombstone as his finisher instead of the "Last Ride". The best thing about it is that you do not need a memory card; every thing is saved onto the cartridge itself!

There are heaps of matches, and you can choose pretty much whatever rules you want. From pin falls, hardcore, iron man, tag, 2 on 1, 3 on 1, cage, rumble, and even a great ladder much that is a lot of fun to play with friends. The best thing is you can now go back stage. You just whip your opponent up the entrance way, and you can fight in the stage area, then you can whip them back stage again and fight down a corridor that has doors that lead to the boiler room, a locker room with a table you can smash your opponent through, a pool room that you can slam your foe through the snooker table, and a car park. Back in the arena you can also send your enemy crashing through the announcers table! And you can pick weapons out of the crowed at any time, and even use the ring steps! There is a lot of Weapons to grab, almost everything from the WCW REVENGE game is back, but not all, but there is also great big beer cans, al snows Head, books, briefcases, fire extinguishers even a big cheese! There heaps to find.

You can battle in a kind of season match that has story lines to follow, but once you have completed that it becomes very boring, that has no lasting value there. There is also a survivor mode. Which is basically an iron man 4-way battle royal. You have to eliminate 99 other wrestlers to win! You can throw them over the rope to eliminate them, pin then, make them submit or TKO them. If you make it all the way through you get Andre The Giant as a hidden character and he becomes selectable, but the more opponents you eliminate, the more points you get to use in the shop. The shop is a place where you buy new things, from weapons, to costumes, even moves!

The create a wrestler is terrific. The moves look great, and there is so many more new moves added to the game then the last titles. Plus there about 20 slots with 4 each in them to choose from.

The controls work very well, and there is not just one special move to every one, all depending on where you are, wether you are grappling, at there feet, on the rope ect... then great moves can be done.

Where there is good, you have to accept the bad as well. If THQ where still making games for the 64 then they would not these flaws and use it to improve the next version, but everyone is done with the 64.

- No "in-ring" intro. Your wrestler comes out to his theme music and titan tron video, but he only poses on the stage area, they don't walk into the ring anymore and do there in ring poses.
-
- Tag team partners only come out together in season mode. They are separate intros in exhibition modes.
-
- It's really annoying in royal rumble modes when somebody is eliminated and you have to wait about 10 seconds for the next wrestler to run down to the ring and get in, they should have shown that in the back ground and let the game resume instead of doing it the way they have. It is also annoying when you have your "spirit" meter flashing to preform your special moves and it has run out by the time the next wrestler has gotten in the ring.
-
- They have taken out the test of strength showdown. In the last few games if both opponents tried to grapple at the same time they would lock into a test of strength and whoever was the better of the two would get the advantage to preform a move to break it up.
-
- The Undertaker's theme music is a song is RAW. Not whatever his theme song was at the time, either American Bad### by Kid Rock or Rollin,Rollin, Rollin by Limp Bizket. Why didn't THQ just give his old dark side theme or something?
-
- There are great double team moves, but there are a few missing, it would have been nice to have the "double choke slam" that Kane and Undertaker used to do. Or the Tennessee Jam that Too Cool did when one would hold there opponent in a back breaker and the other would jump of the top rope and leg drop the guy being held. Or the move the hardy boys do where one kneels down in a doggy position and the other springs off him for the sidekick.
-
- There is too many Mick Foleys; I think having 12 of him in the game is too many, particularly in Rumbles. But you can just edit over him.

Despite those flaws. This is still the best wrestling game there is. You probably would be able to fix some of those flaws in a rom version maybe, but this is the `still played by me' n64 version.

So layeth the smack down, if ya smell what the sock is cookin'. And that's the bottom line or you can suck it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favourite video game ever.
WWE No Mercy is hands down my favourite game ever. Even now, after it's been out for years and there are many superior video game consoles, it's still the best. Sure, it's pretty much the same game as WCW/NWO and Wrestlemania 2000, but there are upgrades. The create a character is much better, and there are more matches, such as ladder and first blood, and you can fight in different backstage areas. Also, there are many more moves to choose from. This game has given me countless hours of entertainment, and there will be many more to come. Check this out, especially since you can get it for so cheap now.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but...
Sure this game is fun and loaded with tons of superstars and different playing modes, but it seems like the moves are all the same! Wrestlemaina 2000 is the same way. The game to beat has to be WCW/NWO Revenge. All the wrestlers have different moves and not everything is the same like WWF games. The only thing I dont care about that game is you can only play superstars and not have a career mode or defend titles.

5-0 out of 5 stars best wwe game ever ...and i meen ever in the world no lie
o my god this game was so fun i spent days non stop... the game and getting to the world title is touph considering you have to win the royal rumble and you are entantet # 1 but go to the survial mode and pratice thats how i got to win the title i would start with the hardcore title to get a title that was the easiest but at all cost buy this game if you have a 64

fun 5/5
gameplay 5/5
graphics for the time 5/5
overall 5/5

thank you and take this in condsideration this is the best game of all time ... Read more

Video games don't get much cuter than Hey You, Pikachu!, a Pokémon title that allows players to talk to their favoriteelectric mouse--via the Voice Recognition Unit (VRU) that's included--and sharein its day-to-day adventures. While older Pokémon fans might findthe game too childish, the candy-coated goodness that's found here makes itperfect for the kiddies.

With the abstract goal of building a friendship with Pikachu, playerscommunicate with it by speaking certain keywords and phrases into the VRU'smicrophone. Although Pikachu's speech is limited to variations on its own name(e.g., "Pika! Pika!"), it expresses itself through thought bubbles and thegame's adorably animated 3-D graphics.

Mastering this interaction is key to solving Hey You, Pikachu!'s puzzleelements, which are encapsulated in various squeaky-clean activities in whichyou and Pikachu participate together. While the voice recognition here isn'tperfect by any means, there's plenty of on-screen help and guidance to keepplayers from getting too frustrated. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Allows players to interact verbally with Pikachu
  • Adorably animated 3-D graphics
  • Plenty of onscreen help and guidance
Cons:
  • Voice recognition not perfect by any means

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Pokémon N64 adventure!
It's nice to be able to have a Pokémon adventure that does not include continuous battles with other trainers, this is what makes games such as a Pokémon Stadium or Pokémon Puzzle League sort of boring after a while and makes games like this one and Pokémon Snap a break from constant battling.
"Hey you, Pikachu!" is one of the most innocent child-oriented Pokémon 3D Adventures, it takes you away from the standard world of Pokémon trainers into the world of Pokémon caregivers and your task is to raise a little wild Pikachu you find deep in Viridian Forest.Pikachu will take you along on picnics, fishing trips, piñata parties and simple fieldtrips where you meet a bunch of Pokémon favorites in their natural habitats.Sadly, only the sweetest and cutest Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Charmander, Oddish or Poliwag are included, larger, meaner Pokémon like Onix or Electabuzz (To name a pair) had to be excluded since they didn't fit in the game. The game has different places to visit, some of them come from the Pokémon Game Boy games and some are completely new.You can help Pikachu take care of little Caterpie and help them evolve into Metapod and then pretty Butterfree, help collect ingredients to have a picnic with Bulbasaur and help Pikachu water Oddish and evolve them into Gloom and Vileplume. The adventure is a lot of fun and the greatest thing about is the fact that the game does not revolve around making selections with the controller buttons, but you can actually use your own voice with a special Nintendo 64 exclusive device included with the game.

I've heard a lot of complaints about this VRU (Voice Recognition Unit) system, but I've never really had any problems with it.The system will work fine if you know how to use it properly. Here's a few tips for those who may find this device troublesome.

-Make sure your device is plugged onto the 4th controller slot, it will not work if connected somewhere else and make sure everything is plugged into place.

-Make sure your TV isn't too loud when you talk to Pikachu, because if it is the system will have trouble recognizing what you say.

-Speak proper English.Speak slowly and clearly and make sure you are not too close or too far apart from the mocrophone, have it right before your mouth.

-Also, see that you keep the appropiate "L" button pressed down the whole time while you speak and don't release it while you are talking.

If you follow those hints, the VRU shouldn't give you any problems. The only complaint I would have about this is the clip that attaches the microphone to the controller, it is very fragile and breaks easily, we had it replaced twice.

The game has decent graphics, standard Nintendo 64 and the animations and movements are sharp and well done.Pikachu is a very realistic Pokémon and behaves naturally.Pikachu is very cute and fun to play with, he acts like any real pet, he gets happy, excited, sad and angry and it is your job to keep him happy as much as you can.Surrounded with beautiful music and very heartwarming moments, the game is challenging, fun, entertainment and a must buy if you would like a break from Pokémon battling and take some time with another kind of Pokémon adventure.

Absolutely wonderful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey You, Pikachu:A skill builder
Picture this. You are in your room and your mom wakes you up saying, "Oak's test is today!" You are 10 and you get up and go out the door to see what the test is. You find Prof. Oak and say, "O. K. I'm here." He then tells you that your test requires friendship, not a pencil! He then tells you, "Your test is to make friends with Pikachu!" You are told to speak to it, so you press Z and talk into the microphone. SURPRISE! Hey You, Pikachu isn't a book. It's a GAME!
First of all, this game is okay. This game is okay because of the animation. It doesn't look REAL, but pretty close.
Second, this game is great. This game is great because you can ACTUALLY make a friend! Using a microphone, you can ask questions, help it's friends, and help it buy MERCHANDISE!
Third, this game is awesome. This game is awesome because you don't have to do much to gain points! Just press A to pick something up, press START, and press A again to store it for points at the end of the `day'.
Last of all, this game is excellent. This game is excellent because you can build social skills. What it lacks in animation, it makes up in building social skills.
I give this game, out of 1-10, a 9! I recommend this game to everyone. Its rated E for EVERYONE. It's only for Nintendo 64 systems. It's only at the price of $15.00, which is CHEAP for a game this unique.

3-0 out of 5 stars this stinks
this game stinks after the first few days i bought it it stopped working now somebody has to hold the cord to the microphone. it might be ok to buy this.

Scooby Doo! Classic Creep Capers is a single-player game in whichthe goal is to solve three mysteries (two of them based on classic episodes; the other is allnew). You play the game as Shaggy while Scooby-Doo tags along, nipping at your heelsas you move around the game's various levels. The graphics are completely cartoon-style,and the game is played from a third-person perspective.

Nobody actually dies in this game, which is good. So, instead of the life meter commonto most adventure games, Classic Creep Capers has a courage meter, which letsyou know how much more fright Shag and Scoob can stand without bolting out of thelevel and having to start anew. Each time something scares them--which happens prettyfrequently--they lose some of their courage, and the game pauses to feature a shakeanimation.

The gameplay is very straightforward--sometimes inanely so. What you're asked to do ismove Shaggy through each level, picking up clues and various other items that can beused to trap the villainous level bosses. You can't proceed from one level to the next untilyou've picked up everything.

While unraveling these mysteries, players use the A button for practically everything. The player presses it to search for things, pick up items, and to talk to people. The onlyother button used is the R button, which opens up the game's menu screen. It's just amatter of tapping the A button to activate a particular item and use it or give it to the gangto help solve the mystery. It's all very simple, which turns out to be one of the game'sstrengths.

Although the idea of unmasking fake ghosts will no doubt appeal to theSaturday-morning nostalgia of older gamers, this game is aimed squarely at the younger set in bothits content and gameplay. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Graphic style is true to the source material
  • Simple, straightforward controls
Cons:
  • Voice-overs are lacking, with too much emphasis placed on Scooby's own skeletalsound bytes
  • Experienced gamers will find this game unchallenging

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Creep Capers
This Scooby-Doo game is fun, but Shaggy gets scared way too much, and by almost everything! He even got scared by some fake moving waves and palm trees in the third level. Also, it is hard to control Shaggy when he is skiing in the second level. All in all, it is a great game, staying true to the classic Scooby characters. It is fun because it challenges your mind, and is full of twists and detective work. If you are a true blue of Scoob and the gang I'm sure you'll love this game!

This is a great game to play with children under 6.Although it is a one player game, my daughter loves to watch me play it, and I enjoy it as well.It is very different from most other video games that she and my son play; it has a narrative plot and the operator is charged with successfully solving 4 mysteries at 4 different locations:Museum, Ski Lodge, Tropical Island, Castle.Several of the reviews I read stated that there were 3 mysteries.Keep trying!

5-0 out of 5 stars Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep CapersVERY, VERY, VERY FUN
I got this game for my birthday and I liked it a lot. The reason is I like things to do with Scooby Doo. Its challenging for little kids, but little kids who love Scooby Doo will really love this game. I mean it will be their favorite Nintendo 64 game. I really injoyed it. 2 thumbs WAY WAY UP!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Recommended!
I bought this game because my daughter is a BIG Scooby fan but sadly she and i were disappointed. For one, she's 5 and she can't read subtitles! Not to mention that even i, who is pretty good at playing these games, couldn't figure it out! Maybe if they would have developed it with sound it would help to figure out what your supposed to do and where. They need to take this one back to the drawing board.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE !!Don't Waste Your Money !!
This is the worst N64 game I've ever played, and we have over 50.It's even worse than Superman 64 if you can imagine that. The controls are horrible. It's nearly impossible to move Shaggy around because the character won't respond, and every few seconds the camera shifts angles and (get this) you have to let go of the control stick before the controls will adjust to the new camera view, so you're spending about half of your time going in the wrong direction.I had to buy this game because it was a birthday wish, but the birthday boy, 7, spent all of 5 minutes with this $50+ turkey before announcing that he will never play it again. And who can blame him?Bad blocky graphics, annoying repetitive sound, way too much reading for his 5 year old cousin, and (get this) all you do in the whole game is find something, press A, take the thing someplace inanely obvious, and press A again.Over and over again. No, really, that's it.My son told me "I feel like Scooby Doo and Cartoon Network cheated us." ... In the past, putting superstar athletes on the covers of gameshas met with mixed results, because money normally earmarked for gamedevelopment is often used to acquire a high-profile license.Thankfully, Mia Hamm Soccer 64 doesn't fall into this trap. Whatwe have here is a solid title that offers up plenty of in-your-facesoccer action with one of today's hottest athletes.

Mia has her own all-star team in the U.S. League portion of the game, and she offers gamers soccer advice from time to time. Her tips rangefrom the technical (such as curving the ball) to the strategic (exactlywhat kind of defensive formation you should be using when you are inthe lead).

Silicon Dreams and Digital Creations Studios developed Mia HammSoccer 64. They seem to have borrowed the look from Konami'sInternational Superstar Soccer and some of the touch passing andball physics from EA Sports' FIFA franchise.

The game has five different modes of play: quick start, exhibitiongame, season, cup tournament, and practice. In the practice mode, youcan shore up your throw-ins, corner kicks (which will allow you toperfect the header), or bicycle kick into the back of the net.

But the biggest gripe here is that the game's artificial intelligenceis not up to snuff. Of course, simply playing the game with friends canrectify this, but the fault can be frustrating for the single scorer. But then, just as in a real game of soccer, getting shots on goal andscoring can be challenging.

Mia Hamm Soccer 64 is a great starter game for female gamers whowant to see their idol and soccer fans who just want to plug it in andstart playing. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Solid gameplay that doesn't rely on Mia Hamm's star appeal alone todeliver the goods
  • A great starter title for soccer fans and girl gamers looking for asports role model
Cons:

  • Suspect artificial intelligence
  • Some graphical slowdown when many players are in the frame at onetime

2-0 out of 5 stars Excellent concept, but a failed project
I am an avid supporter of female athletes. That is why I decided to give Mia Hamm Soccer 64 a try. Unfortunately, unlike Mia Hamm, this game falls very short in execution: the controls are stiff, the announcer (with all due respect to Wendy) is too repetative, the graphics have a very low polygon count, and every athlete looks the same except for skin color. I admire South Peak Interactive for making what is apparently the second sports video game to star a woman (the first is Jennifer Capriatti Tennis for Sega Genesis), but they should have done more to make this game fun to play. Here's hoping they try again, but this time REALLY TRY.

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs some adjustment
There are somethings that are hard to figure out when playing multi-players on the basic level: 1.On a goal kick because of the score bar at the bottom of the page, it is hard to tell which player has control of the goalie to take the kick. 2.Can't switch between players very easily. 3.If a yellow or red card is given, you can't tell which card is given. 4.If a player has a card, you can't tell which player it is, if you want to sub them off. If anyone knows how to fix this stuff or work around it, let me know.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Game Kicks
This game makes women's soccer better than ever before. This game has great graphics. It's not some dumb game where you preset the plays and basically watch the whole time.It is also good because you can set the controller on one of two levels:regular and pro.You can change the time of day, the weather, the climate, and the stadium you are playing at.There is a HUGE selection of teams, too.It gets all five stars in my book!

5-0 out of 5 stars it's about time
The game has been enhanced a lot since March, 2000.The gameplay is faster and more responsive. It's still not quite as good as FIFA '99, but Mia Hamm 64 is a great soccer video game, no question. On top of that, add the novelty of being the first women's sports video game in history.I think that this ground-breaking game may become a milestone in the industry.USA vs. Norway :)

3-0 out of 5 stars this game has good graphics but gets boring
This is the maybe 6th best soccer video game I have ever played. It is nothing compared to FIFA '99. The game moves slowly and it becomes very bland. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
I got this game two weeks after it came out. At first i was nostalgiac of the first game, i liked the first game more. But after I got over that, i noticed how fun this game was compared to the first game. Each level was harder and more complex than the first. And even though there are only 8 levels, compared to the 10 in the first, it took me longer to beat this one. The graphics, i have to admit, were very impressive for a sixty-four bit console. The game itself was very hard and challenging, but in a good way. This was the right way to make a sequal.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feels different from Banjo-Kazooie
Even though this is the direct sequel to the Rare 1998 classic Banjo-Kazooie, and features much of the same gameplay and similar characters, I think that it just feels like a different game. It seems almost as different from Banjo-Kazooie as Donkey Kong 64 or Conker's Bad Fur Day does. The game just emanates a completely different atmosphere. I guess it's a combination of very different music, different moves, and new characters. Kudos to Rareware on that. People usually like a game that play the same as another game but feels different. I mean, it's a different game, isn't it? Who likes a game that plays AND feels the same?

Ah well. Banjo and Kazooie's final N64 adventure takes them to the world beyond the valley in which they live in. It's a large world, larger than the cavern that Gruntilda calls her lair. The levels really aren't that much larger than the mammoth world featured in Banjo-Kazooie or even Donkey Kong 64, but it's amazing how Rare has fresh ideas even after creating over a dozen massive levels for the two aforementioned games. Ah well. The difficulty level of Banjo-Tooie seems to be tougher. It's sometimes harder to figure out what the heck to do for certain Jiggies, and there are so much more stuff to find this time around. Not only are there jiggies, but there are also: Jinjos, Cheato pages, honeycombs, and everybody's favorite notes! The massive amount of extra moves can also get overwhelming. Boss fights, which were MIA in Banjo-Kazooie are now here, and in every stage. The extra modes of play are a nice change to the typical Banjo-Kazooie formula. I haven't had a chance to play as Kazooie without Banjo, but I did get to control Mumbo. It wasn't really as I had expected, but fun nonetheless. The 1st-person shooter mode was obviously a chance to cash in on the successes of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, but they were actually well done. The 1st-person shooter level in Mayahem Temple freaked me out, but hey. It's all about atmosphere.

Rare has always been good at having distinct "tastes" to their games. I suppose what helps them are their awesome musical staff. Although the music in Blast Corps got on the nerves of some people, it definitely added to the feel for it. The somewhat-like-variations of the Bond theme in GoldenEye gave that game a unique feel. So on and so forth. Banjo-Tooie had good music that adds to its different mood, but it just didn't feel as excellent as Rare's fantastic score for Banjo-Kazooie. Maybe that's a good thing. Having the Gobi's Desert tune stuck in your head for hours is not exactly a pleasant experience. As far as sound effects go, Banjo's deep utterance for every jump is JUST NOT RIGHT! Argh! I can't stand it. Oh well. It's a good game nonetheless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Banjo-Tooie: Best+Most Fun Game Ever!!
They started out in Banjo-Kazooie as "not well-known and REALLY strange main charaters", but in Banjo-Tooie, that bear and bird duo really caught on as enjoyable and fun guys to have in a video-game.
Banjo, the "slightly out of it" honey bear and Kazooie, the cheeky breegull started out in their previous game having Grunty, the evil witch, as their enemy because she wants to steal Tooty, Banjo's sister, in order to get her beauty. But in Banjo-Tooie, she doesn't really want to steal anyone's beauty, she is MAD and WANTS revenge!!! Chasing through Grunty's lair learning "novice moves" from Bottles, the mole, was simply a "kindergarden" learning experience compared to the "high school" more "advanced moves" from Bottles' brother JamJars.
In Banjo-Kazooie, the good shaman Mumbo-Jumbo, assisted the bear and bird by turning them into an alligator, a pumpkin, etc., ect. But now, Humba-Wumba steps in to take his place. Mumbo still helps you in B.T., only this time, YOU control him! Navigate Mumbo around looking for things to do and your also able to almost "evaporate" enemys with your Mumbo-staff!
Earlier in this review I mentioned Bottles' brother JamJars. Drill-Sargent JamJars teaches the Banjo-Kazooie team different moves and abilities to help you defeat bosses, harmful lava, quick-sand, toxic waste, and anything else that might kill you. You also learn how to use special pads that let Banjo and Kazooie split up!
With it's great grafix, great charater cast, long game-play time and plot [it took me about two or three days worth of gameplay to win], improved plot worlds and sub-worlds, better theme music [not that B.K.'s music was bad], I rate it "THE BEST GAME EVER MADE FOR THE N64 AND BEST GAME OF ALL [the second best game is and was B.K.]." I give Banjo-Tooie 5 GOLD STARS!!! :D Great job, Rare* and Nintendo*

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than the original
I recall the first one being my favorite game in second grade. It was fun, and I was a fan of the voices, noises and levels of the game. I also recall asking my teacher if a play we would see was Banjo-kazooie! The sequal had all of the great features of the first one, with improved sound graophicas, and a new awesome storyline.

Graphics-the levels, characters and textures are no doubt the best i have ever seen, they were nice, and the characters are cooler looking. A few minor graphic changes are the honeycombs are no longer shiny, and the witch is better modled(she is more uglier!)

Sound:The sound is exellent, way better than Mario.I love the voices of the characters, as it's like their won language of grunts, clanking, and innovation. the gameplay sounds are good for any platformer. The music is a strong point. The best sountracks i liked are witchy world and hailfire peaks. Why? WithcyWorld was cool and cathcy and better than stupid glitter gulch mine, and hailfirepeaks is catchy, it's a good rap beat, and beats that stupid music if the glittering mine! rare is a genius at that, from the graet music from conker's bad fur day, and diddy kong racing. It is also cool how they can have a base song, and change it around and making it sound good. Just like the Simpsons theme. It's was made into a lively, awesome jazz version on hit and run, level three, using lisa

Gameplay-In addition to all the wacky abitities from the previous games, there is a whole lot more items. There are four more types of eggs, more shoes, and wacky transformation. In addition, there are bosses, music, new playable characters, and a replay mode. in anutshell, all of the first goodness with alot more flavor.

Replay-all the games that you played on your adventure is here on the replay mode. The bosses, the movies, and of course, the minigames.in short a game that is strongly into gaming.(What?)

Buy it, and you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Considering the success Rare's GoldenEye 007 has had onthe Nintendo 64, Electronic Arts designers had their work cut out forthem in making another 3-D shooter using the James Bond license. TheWorld Is Not Enough is a smashing success in terms of its graphicsand sound, as well as in how it weaves the movie's plot into thegameplay. Unfortunately, this Bond game has just enough flaws to keepit from achieving classic status.

If you've seen the movie on which this is based, the game's levels willall be familiar. There has been a kidnapping and it's up to you toscour the globe, rescue the victim, and untangle a twisty plot lacedwith betrayal. It wouldn't be a Bond game without myriad gadgets tohelp you along the way, so there's plenty of stuff to play with, including a multifunction laser/stun gun/grappling hook watch, safecracking equipment, and x-ray glasses. Weapons range from Bond'ssignature 9 mm automatic to shotguns, assault rifles, and everything inbetween.

The game takes full advantage of the N64 Expansion Pak to pumpup the graphics, and the game uses speech compression to give all thecharacters spoken dialogue. This makes the missions far more engagingthan they would otherwise be, but brain-dead enemies really spoil thefun. The average Bond movie henchmen don't exactly have Einstein- caliber IQs, but shooting wave after excruciating wave of soldiers whodo little more than blindly rush at you is just tedious. At least mostmissions throw innocent guards and bystanders into the mix so that evenif the enemy isn't thinking clearly, you still have to be on your toesto prevent civilian casualties. The World Is Not Enough is asolid game that should appeal to fans of the movie, but stick withGoldenEye 007 or Perfect Dark if you want to experience atruly good 3-D shooter on the N64. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Good graphics, and the clear speech is a nice touch
  • Tough missions are filled with fun objectives
  • The need to protect innocents adds a lot of tension to the game
Cons:
  • Don't even think about it if you don't have an Expansion Pak
  • Games must be saved to a memory card
  • Generic opponents don't provide much of a challenge

4-0 out of 5 stars the world is not enough
The only good EA Bond game that I've played. It's nowhere near any of the classics, but it could at least hold its own against other games of the non-classic variety.

The singleplayer mode is good. Some levels are bothersome, but overall, it's fun. Good levels, nice guns, decent a.i. The movie's plot is told very well, from getting rid of Davidov to swimming through a sunken submarine to finish the baddies and save the world.

The multiplayer is great. It's not quite as option-packed as Perfect Dark, but it's good. My major complaint is the whole GOOD and EVIL thing. Each character is either GOOD or EVIL, and GOOD characters can't fight each other. It's annoying, but there are at least plenty of characters to choose from(and even more to unlock) that it hasn't bothered me more than a handful of times.

TWINE has some of my favorite multiplayer levels ever. A hedgemaze, two small bases connected by a skyrail(this level is done better than it's Nightfire counterpart), and one of the coolest, a blackbird jet and a cargo plane connected by a fueling line flying in the air. It's fun to go out on the wings and try not to get blown down by the wind, or to go on top of the cargo plane to snipe people off of the blackbird below.

The bots are generally pathetic, though. If you're accostumed to instinctively circle-strafing, the bots don't present much of a threat. I played an entire game without using weapons. I just got really close to the bot and circle-strafed while punching them, and they didn't even get a hit in.

But that's only like half of the bots. The other half are okay.

I was also upset to find that there's no way to setup the controller so that you can use the up and down c-buttons to look like in Goldeneye. Instead, they are for jump and for crouch. No way to move jump and crouch to up and down d-pad. I need my freelook more than I need jump and crouch in multiplayer. O well.

Overall, this game is actually really fun, but the few flaws really stand out and keep it from being classic.

4-0 out of 5 stars BetterThan the first
this game is great except that some of the levels are very confusing.the multiplayer gives it 4 stars because you can play by yourself with 3 bots or 2 players with 2 bots or just 2 players there are many many characters to choose from.

4-0 out of 5 stars Addictive game; frustrating at times.
I loved this game because once you start playing it you can't stop playing it, but most of the time it can be somewhat frustrating, especially the last level. If you loved Goldeneye, then you'll definitley love this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bond is Back
In the sequel to GoldenEye for N64, 007 proves that nobody does it better. Again. As you turn on the console, you will note the first of its flaws. You must sit through about 10 seconds of credits to EA games and MGM interactive. The second thing is, unlike its predessesor, it doesn't have a gun barrel scene (not even in the first level cutscene) which could have turned out beautifully and instead goes right to the title screen. The options include: Start Game (14 total levels), Load/Save Game (yes, you will require a memory pak to save your progress, another flaw), Options, and Multiplayer (10 open levels, 4 locked ones).
Single Player:
General-You will the selection of three difficulty levels: Agent, Secret Agent, and 00 Agent. 00 and Secret Agent will not have as many bod armor vests and the enemies' bullets will hurt more. The cutscenes have spoken dialogue, a welcome improvement as well as appropriate body movements and gestures.
Gameplay-You will begin almost every mission with your Wolfram P2K, by pressing B+Z, you can silence it as well as change other weapons to secondary fire mode. Your hands will look realistic and not flat, like in the PSX version (though this version's backgrounds are not so detailed). You can watch Bond do the reloading instead of hiding the gun, reloading sounds, and it comes back into view. The guns are accurately articulated and the firing of the weapon will look convincing (even more so with the optional expansion pak). You can jump, crouch, strafe, even swim in particular levels in addition to running and shooting. No vehicles will be driven, though there is a first person skiing level which is designed much better than the one in the PSX TND game. Finally, Q-Branch has equipped you with top of the line gadgets one of them including the Tazer/Dart/Laser/Grapple watch, the pen grenade, covert modem, data scramblers, finger scanner, and more. Over 15 different weapons included.
Multiplayer:
In this game, you can play multiplayer alone with the new-to-Bond AI Bots. They are pretty stupid but even so can present a good challenge. There are different sets of weapons and game modes.
In conclusion, a worthy sequel to GoldenEye.

5-0 out of 5 stars The World Is Not Enough by Electronic Arts
Missions are intriguing and absorbing. Needs better graphics of people however, but has definatly earned it's 5* ranking. 2 player mode is dissapointing, and more types of weapons are needed. Conversations and messsages are excellent. Follows plot most accuratly and has awesome movie clips. ... Read more
