5-0 out of 5 stars Stange is good
Majora's Mask is a strange game: while it is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it is clearly a Zelda game of a very different shade.

It begins with Link slowly trudging deep in the Lost Woods, with his trusty horse, Epona, when he is attacked by a masked and mischevious Skull Kid - who steals his precious Ocarina and Epona. Worse still, the Skull Kid turns Link into a Deku form of himself, and Link finds himself in a strange Mirror - like Hyrule. Things turn even worse when Link finds the moon slowly getting bigger over the course of 3 days...

Majora's Mask features the very same Gameplay as Ocarina of Time, with a few exceptions. The entire course of the game is set within 3 days or 72 hours - and hours seem to pass like minutes, giving a player a total of just over an hour. While this may seem off-putting, it is implemented very well - people have set schedules over the course of the game, meaning you will be pottering around the Clock Town while not in dungeons, with the promise of an upgrade - or even a new mask.

Masks, as the title suggests, play an important role - some make you run faster, talk to enemies, summen foes or sooth arguements and more. There are a total of 24 masks to collect, the reward being a mask containing "The Merits of all masks". The best of the masks are the ones that allow transformation. (Let's face it, who HASN'T dreamed of swimming as a Zora or rolling as a Goron) The Zora Mask, the Goron Mask and the Deku mask. they allow you to transforminto all your favourites from Ocarina, each with the gifts of the species - Super fast swimming, Incredible strength, and, er, spitting nuts.

Majora's Mask is harder, darker and more original than Ocarina of Time - the unique aspects of the game are implemented very well but the way the game is played may be off-putting for some. Brilliant and totally original.

P.S. the start bits kinda boring.

5-0 out of 5 stars The darkest in the Zelda catalogue
If only that damn site IGN didn't take my idea first. They described this game as the Empire Strikes Back in Zelda and it's true. It's more darker, more gloomy and at times it can even be depressing. Unlike Ocarina of Time which oozed coolness and wonderment or Wind Waker which was cheery and uplifting due to its look, Majora's Mask is quite different than other installments but in no way is it bad, it's just different.

Story: I always considered this game more like an epilogue to Ocarina of Time rather than a full sequel. At the start of the game directly taking place after Ocarina, Link is in a forest and gets ambushed by Skull Kid and is turned into a Deku(they look like tiny trees with a long mouth) and enters a portal. From here Link finds himself in Termina, a land that is gonna be destroyed by a falling moon in 3 days. So it's up to Link once again to save the day using the powers of time and this weird masks.

Graphics: Reviewing this game in 2005 with such games as Metroid Prime, Halo and Metal Gear Solid 3 of course puts Majora to shame but remembering the graphics at that time, it's more of an extension of Ocarina only darker and not as vibrant. Due to maybe the Expansion Pak or just the game itself, the game does have framerate issues and some rough textures. Beware that the Gamecube re-release on the Collector's Edition sometimes freezes the game.

Gameplay: All Zelda games pretty much to this day revolved around some kind of "gimmick": in Ocarina it was time travelling, Wind Waker was controlling the wind, Minish Cap was the ability to shrink to thumbnail size and the Oracle series revolved around time travelling and season changing. Majora's Mask revolves around, yep you guessed it, masks. Link with the benefit of 24 masks(25 if you get all 24), Link can turn into different characters such as the Deku race, Goron race(big tough creatures with a taste for rocks) and the Zora race(fish people roughly). Or there's different masks like Postman, Ghost, or Bunny mask which makes him run faster.

The other aspect for the 3rd time in Zelda's history revolves around time travelling, once in Ocarina and the other in Oracle of Ages. Only this time it's different. You see the game's clock makes 3 days take about roughly 50 minutes before the moon crashes so with the Ocarina you can go back to Day 1 and start over, even make the time go slower so you have more time. This is quite annoying to say the least since your funds, arrows and bombs revert to zero if you go back to Day 1, your items are intact, your extra stuff isn't. And also you could be in the middle of a dungeon to be really close only to be on the final day and have to reset to Day 1, which incidentally cancels any progress you made in the dungeon.

Not to say the game is bad(it's just slightly hard) but it's quite enjoyable to go through, if you don't mind it's tone anyway.

4-0 out of 5 stars very very good but,not as good as 'ocarina of time'
I played the Legend of zelda ocarina of time in 1997,WHAT A YEAR THAT WAS!!!I had so much fun!then in gameinformer magazine the new preveiws page said that there was going to be a new game called 'the legend of zelda:majora's mask'it was about link going to a new land where the moon is falling and he has only 3 days to live and on the third day link has to play the song of time so that he can go back to the first day,I HAD TO HAVE IT!but then half a year later when it came out,I was very upset because when I played it,it was too easy and I beat it in almost a week!when I played'Ocarina of time'it took me almost two YEARS!but other then that it was a fun game,Very fun in fact.I really liked that you can upgrade your sword, when in 'ocarina of time'the master sword is what you see what you get!PROS TO MAJORAS MASK:There are lots of masks that you can get and they give powers(like fast running),you can upgrade your sword twice, there are new songs for link to play on his ocarina and there is a bank so link can have alot of money!CONS:you have to play 'the song of time'way to often because the moon is falling for some reason and you have only 3 days to live, finding more then half of the masks are very hard to find, the game has only four temples and they are all very hard way too short.but all in all this game is worth around $15.00,so if you like the other Zelda games try this one too!

4-0 out of 5 stars Zelda
A great game but it doesn't have the zelda magic if you want a good N64 Zelda I would get Ocarina of Time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing with a suprise in every repeat!
This is truly an impressive game!Although many say this is the worst Shigeru has ever made in a Zelda game, I love this on top of all others.Although this game is repeated because of the 3 day repeat, I found that every time i traveled back, i was able to find something new to do.What other game designer can make three days, exactly the same, have so much differentiation between them. truly a work of art. ... Editorial Review

Nintendo first dabbled in video games during the industry's early years of the mid-'70s. Generations of successful gaming console releases through the years led to the much-hyped 1996 launch of Nintendo 64, a system that represented a giant evolutionary leap in video game technology. Within the first three days of launch, hundreds of thousands of gamers hunkered down with Mario 64, considered by many to be one of the greatest video games ever created. Even today, the system's excellent design continues to host an ever-expanding library of breakthrough games.

Nintendo 64's popularity among younger gamers is no surprise. Well-respected games featuring such long-lived and much-loved personalities as Mario (of arcade classic Donkey Kong fame), Zelda, and Banjo-Kazooie are easy to learn and offer enormous replay value. But times are a' changin' and the system's ever-growing library of titles has expanded into every genre of games imaginable, including games better suited for older gamers. In fact, some of the most acclaimed--in some cases, groundbreaking--games available on any platform today are packed onto N64's old-school cartridges.

Under the system's hood, its appeal to the young certainly didn't produce a less mature gaming machine. On the contrary, the 64-bit system boasts impressive graphics, stereo sound, and numerous accessory enhancements, including a high-resolution pack that boosts graphics to awe-inspiring resolutions.

Start your library with Goldeneye 007, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, and Star Wars: Episode One Racer--these titles represent a decent start to any N64 cartridge library.

With the recent launch of Sega's Dreamcast system, Nintendo 64 is being left behind as the leader in video game technology. And with newer game systems featuring CD-based games, the system's expensive cartridge format is proving itself an archaic and unconventional storage format. But, at a sub-$110 recommended retail price for a console with two controllers, innovative accessory enhancements and a great library of games keep the system's rabid fan base satisfied, if not eager for Nintendo's next evolutionary step. --Eric Twelker ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Nintendo that didn't have a fair go
Nintendo will never be out-done, just out-priced.

Nintendo started off making small hand held electroic games before creating the 8 bit system in the 80's. And when they released the Super Nes they had the 2 greatest home video game systems of the day. Sega never stood a chance because they rushed things just to compete with nintendo, where as nintendo took there time when releasing systems to make sure they where the best they could be. Only the people whose mothers bought them a Sega instead of a NES or SNES where the ones who would defend the Sega systems. But the segas where slow, graphics wernt as good and the sound was as bad as the game play handling.

Nintendo had completly beaton Sega in the market of games. But sega brought out an attachment for the Genises/Mega drive that allowed you to hook on a CD ROM drive to the machine. And nintendo decided to make an even better one to attach to the SNES. If you look on the bottom of a SNES console, you will see where it would attach. The CD Rom for SNES was being developed by Nintendo and Sony. But arguments arose between Sony and Nintendo and Sony seperated themselves from Nintendo and went solo on the project that eventualy became the Playstation!

The playstation was only twice as powerfull as the SNES. The snes was 16 bit, the PS was 32 bit. So ninetendo developed a 64 bit system, twice as powerfull as the playstaion, better graphics, better controll, and better potentiol.

But when the 64 was released, it did not get the fair attention it should have. Why? Because of the CD's Sony used. Not because they where better, not because they where slower, not because they where more fun...no... it was because people where buying them ripped / copied / burnt / bootlegged for a small price. And this still goes on today. That was the biggest reason why Sony was having more succsess then nintendo. Because those CD rom games where able to be copied and the cartridge of the nintendo was not.

The PS games only surpassed with slightly better sound, the 64 could play high quality sound, but it was up the games developer on wether or not to use up space on the game with sound or not. That is about the only advantage the PS had, sound, particuly just music. Some people say the controllers of the PS where better then the N64, but I preffer the 64, it did take some time to adjust to it, but that is personaly taste rather then anything.

The nintendo 64 suffered a blow when more game developers wouldnt make games for the 64 anymore because it was easier to put them on a CD and develop them that way, then to program them for cartridges. So, that is not nintendos fault, that is the game developers fault for being lazy and just wanting to make quick games instead of decent and good games.

Nintendos team called RARE where the ones who always pushed the boundry on games. Just like they did with Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, they broke new ground by not just using the full potintiol of the system, but by finding ways to go beyond it's full capabilty! They released one of the best games on the 64 called "Golden Eye". The James Bond game was the 1st to use the full potentioal of the 64's capability. The game is amazing and still hard to beat by todays standards. The game did not even need the expansion pack the 64 soon offered.

The best games where coming from the game developers who put the effort into making the great games, and the playstaion never had anything as fun to play as the 64 offered. The graphics where so much smoother, the game play was so much more responsive and the fun was there. One of the first games I compared was WWF ATTITUDE. And pretty much like I said, the PS version took longer to load, wasnt as responsive, the graphics where horriblly blocky, and the only thing that was better was it had more sounds from the commentators. And maybe some of the entrance themes where longer. But apart from that, nothing (maybe video footage) but that was never apart of what you where playing which is what counted and the PS was the thumbs down, but because of people able to buy copied games, the PS became popular that new comers to the sytem THOUGHT it was the better system. It isnt.

These days the battle goes on between Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft. But I know for sure, Nintendo will always supply quality games, games worth playing, games using full potentiol of the systems capability, and most important...respect.

5-0 out of 5 stars nice thing to have
THIS N64 IS COOL BECAUSE IT HAS A PLAIN CONTROLER AND A NICE CONTROLER PLUS THE SYSTEM OF N64 AND IF YOU KEEP BUYING GAMES YOU WILL END UP WITH A WHOLE COLLECTION OF GAMES ANDA SYSTEM OF N64. 5-0 out of 5 stars N64 ROCKS!!!!
I love the Nintendo 64. The N64 has some of the best games like super mario 64 and the legend of zelda the ocrina of time. If you like the older systems, then you need to pick up a N64 because it is awesome!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Console with amazing games..
The N64 had some of the best games on the planet and eventhough N64 was a great system it ended too quickly cause of the Gamecube. The N64 launched in some were in 96' and it launched some great titles and some incredible games. The N64 is one of the best systems ever but it also had a short lived history.I mean they could have come up with wayyyyyy more games No...

The N64 was one of Nintendo's finest and is probably better then the gamecube. The gamecube didn't have much launch games but N64 did.It had some amazing graphics and some really amazing games.

The N64 was at one point BETTER then Playstation and It could have but in the end the PS beat it.But make no mistake about. The N64 launched some pretty amazing games.Hell SOME OF THE BEST GAMES EVER Created.Sure N64 is old and cheap but it still has some really awesome games like

Super Mario 64
Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time(greatest game ever)
Perfect Dark
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Starfox 64
Paper Mario
F-zero X
Didy Kong Racing
Donkey Kong

and some more....

You will get your 5 bucks worth of this system and I think it should cost more then that eventhough it's out dated

It has amazing games, an amazing console and some really impressive graphics and that is why this is one of the best systems ever...But it aint' no Dreamcast I can tellz ya that.

This systems earns a 5 out of 5 stars

i got this the day it came out while i love the variety of wrestlers the road to wrestlemania in this game was boring and had no storyline to it whatsoever it was just random matches for the most part and took away from the fun of it for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars HHmmm....
the discription with that "Steroid powered" is like the game, I love no mercy but well Hmm.....at least this one has the best back stage I've seen. And there's no better comercial.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get No Mercy Instead
When THQ lost the rights to WCW and gained the WWF this game was a must have for me. I loved this game for ages, more then REVENGE, but as great as it was for a while, I must say I advise you get the step up version "WWF NO MERCY" it was the new and improved version and left this one for dead.

5-0 out of 5 stars the easiest wrestling game on earth!
the controls are very very easy to pick up.you can, with very little real effort do spectacular feats of dexterity and skill.you can also make your own wrestlers.no i dont mean some wanker with someone elses moves.i mean you make him and you program like 180 different moves into him!theres like over 10 types of suicide dives alone!it rules!if you dont like the guys you get,you can go in and change them also.you cant change the moves, just the appearence.youll be on medium level in no time!

Amazon.com Review

This is the third time that Midway has ported a Cruis'n coin-optitle to the Nintendo 64, and in three years. While the series has been acommercial success (nearly two million units sold), there's still nothing new tobe found. This is a shame--this is one series that could have benefitedtremendously from an overhaul (no pun intended).

Cruis'n Exotica is an arcade racing game in which players choose avehicle (be it a car, truck, or "other") and compete against various opponentsin a no-holds-barred trek across many varied tracks. If this doesn't soundterribly original, you're starting to get the picture: it's not.

Midway's Cruis'n Exotica features courses from across America, not tomention previous titles in the series(Cruis'n USA andCruis'n World).Thankfully, Midway went the extra step and crafted levels that literally gobeyond the familiar landscape, and genuinely qualify as exotic. Planet Mars, anyone?

Gamers have 30 different vehicles from which to choose (12 default, 18 to unlockby winning races), and include a police car, a 4 x 4, and a hippie van, to namebut a few. There's also a selection of drivers from which to choose (a baby, clown, alien, etc.).

With substandard graphics that seem to ignore the achievements that developershave squeezed out of the Nintendo 64 hardware over the past few years, this gamedelivers only mediocre gameplay and uninspired play mechanics. The N64 is nostranger to great racing games--the amazingRidge Racer 64 andBeetle Adventure Racing!have shown that the console is quite capable of delivering a good time behindthe wheel. While it's not a terrible game, by any means, Cruis'n Exoticasimply is superfluous. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Plenty of new courses
Cons:
  • Mediocre gameplay and control
  • Very little that's new, to distinguish it from other Cruis'n titles

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best but...
First let me say, read my reveiw for Cruisin' World. I won't say this game isn't enjoyable or that it has bad graphics. However, I do believe that Cruisin' World is better. I rented this game after looking for Cruisin World and finding that they did not have back in at Blockbuster yet. So I rented it thinking "Okay it's probably just as good." The problem is, the courses got tiring, the music was as well. And the entire game got an average of three stars because the second of the three, Cruisin' WOrld is the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
best game ever even though where in 2004 and not 2000 this changed my life it made me jump of the walls theres this tokyo track where you can go on a plane runway in the night time also the graphics are sweet and I could not wait for it to come I'm going to give it five stars 10 points

5-0 out of 5 stars ITS A CURSE!
Alright,I do give this game 5 stars, but beleive me,Its bad.The graphics are good. But the cars are cool, the bad thing about 'em is when unlocking rail there's only one more car to unlock,so don't have n64 life gone forever. What I'm saying is that this game is good in the beginning, and stupid in the ending.

4-0 out of 5 stars CRUIS'N EXOTICA
It is fun in the beginning, but after you get all the cars, it is
boring.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad but HARD![.]
Out of all the RTS Games available I'd have to say this one should only be one of them that you buy if you enjoy long stratigic battles.By far this would have to be one of the most challenging that i've played not because it is C&C but because it is on N64.Pretty much the game is as the computer version but I would have to say 5 times as harder. There is no easy or moderate only a preset level that is sometimes impossilbe.Since westwood does not believe in cheats the game also does not have any cheats. All in all the graphics were fair but the game play made up for that.It does hook just that if you wanted to replay a previously played game you could just that if you wanted to return to the campain you were at, you would end up at the game you had just beaten in that campain.Sounds confusing so I would recommened you rent the game before buying it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everybody Wants to Rule the World
I got this game and I thought it was going to be just an okay game. Did I ever find out how wrong I was! The game is absolutely addictive! You can play as the Global Defense Initiative (GDI)the good guys or the bad guys, who are simply called the NOD. There are 15 GDI missions and 13 NOD missions. There are also two exclusive N64 only missions for each side. The grapihics are okay, but not anything real fancy. If you want to run the game in High Resolution mode make sure you have an expansion pack; this also makes the graphics better. Just remember to go to the opions menu and select High Resolution everytime you play because if you don't the game will run on Medium Resolution. When you use and airstrick for the GDI or use a lot of flamthrowers, flamtankes, or a Nuclear Missile for the NOD, the game play will so slow down to a crawl until the fire stopsm but after the napalm is it out the game goes back to its normal speed. When a soldier dies he spills over and a little pile of blood comes out and then it disappears along with the body. If you run over enemy troops with tank or something, you get a squishy sound. When a soldier dies you may hear a scream. These are the only violent grapcis in the game. The music is great at times, but some of the tracks are boring. This is the best strategy game for the N64! A little hint to help is that the NOD are great at whiping out infantry while the GDI are better equipped to handle tanks and defensive positions. When you are capable to produce tanks and vehicles build vehicles instead of infratry because a NOD flame tank or a NOD flamethrower can wipe out a lot of infantry with no problem at all. If you play as the NOD then build turrets and light tanks to take out the GDI forces. You can use a group of light tanks to run over infantry. Also another hint is that if you play as NOD build some recon motorcycles in the later missions when GDI uses ORCAs, they are kind of like helicopters, to harrass you and if the recon units are in guard mode they will attack the flying pests. This is definitely a must have since new N64 games are no longer coming out. Some of the later missions can take up to three to four hours to complete. Have fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars pretty damn good
this game is very cool.it is all startigy.builde a huge army or simply set up a ambush buy the game its awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars Great strategy game
Command and Conquer is the greatest strategy game I've seen for N64.This game allows you to plan and strategize as the action happens, unlike other slow, methodical, and totally boring strategy games.

Another cool part is you can choose which side to fight on: the good side (GDI) or the bad side (NOD).Every mission is complex, puzzling, and can be won many different ways.

Overall, this is a great game and a great buy.

One of the most anticipated sequels in recent memory, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 builds upon the addictive gameplay of the original by adding many new tricks and features. The idea is still to perform complicated tricks for points, and players can still ride as Tony or any of an expanded roster of pros in the new game. Now, however, players can create their own skaters from scratch, selecting appearance, gear, clothes, and more. Players can also create their own ideal skate parks by instantly building ramps, rails, pipes, and other challenging obstacles.

All of the old tricks remain, but the game features hundreds of new additions. Of course, with all of these new tricks to master, there are also more detailed accidents: scraped knees, broken boards, and wall and (ouch!) pole collisions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Extreme Sports Game... wait, theres an N64 version?
Just read the title, this is one heck of a game. I've already mastered this game on the Dreamcast and Game Boy Advance but this N64 version was 9 bucks at Wal-Mart so I just bought it for the cheap price even though I already owned it on 2 other systems. Anyway this is a skateboarding game and you can play as 12 different pros icluding Kareem Cambell, Rune Glifberg, Bucky Lasek and of course Tony Hawk. The gameplay is pretty hard at first but you'll get used to it in no time and start doing 10+ trick combos. The replay value is infinete you'll never get sick of playing it because of all the different tricks you can pull off in the amazingly well set up levels. The levels are fairly huge and are filled with ramps and half pipes and rails to grind. The graphics in this version are a little disapointing mainly because of the cartiridge format the N64 uses. There's mass pop up and fog but it's not too distracting from the gameplay. There's is also slowdown and choppyness whenthings get extreme and there are a few glitches but once you get into the gameplay it's hardly noticable. The controls are also very good C left does the flip tricks, C up does the grinding on rails, C right does grab tricks and C down does the ollies (jumps). Very easy to control but the the N64 buttons you gotta press down hard unlike the Dreamcast controller. Some of the other features in the game include create a skater and create a park. Create a skater has many different options but it isn't too much of a great thing because when you save a skater it will take up MANY blocks on your memory pak. The create a park feature is one of the greatest modes in the game, you have near control on everything in your "park" and you have hundreds of different ramps and objects to choose from. You can even create your own gaps! The sound effects in the game are great you can here the board roll down the pavement and the metal grinding against the trucks. Now there's the music. There are only 6 soundtracks on the N64 because of again, the cartiridge format and some of the songs are reduced. They are also not a very good quality sounding so I suggest you to turn the music off and turn on the stereo and listen to something else. The music soundtracks arent bad though it's just that the N64 makes it sound like crap, the Dreamcast version has the complte tracks in great quality and the songs are pretty good especially "No Cigar" by Millencolin. The multiplayer in this is also great you can do the normal trick attack where the winner is the person with the most points added up from tricks. There's Horse which is where you and the other player take turns doing tricks and you have to score higher than each others scores so you dont spell out horse or any other word you choose to put in there. Then there's Graffiti which is my favorite where you have to skate on many objects as possible and the person who skated on the most objects when the time is up wins. Overall this game is the greatest extreme sports game ever created to sum up. If you have a Dreamcast or PSone purchase it for those systems but N64 owners must get this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best tony hawk game ever
I bought this game not long ago.i also had underground.but when i played this i felt underground is so unrealistick in tricks.u can do like 1080 to like a primo kickflip out in underground.but in this its a lil bit harder to get to a manual from a trick.buy this game id give it a thousand million stars.LOL

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Playing!!
OMG! This game is so freakin' fun! My brother owns the only N64 in the house, and I drive him crazy asking him to play this. It's so much fun. You can make your own levels, or just play the originals (which are great, I must add). If you don't have it, you're missing out!

5-0 out of 5 stars great gamie
this is great try it.if you didnt like the 1 you will like this 1.try it.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOTHING compared to the PS version!
I am a long time Nintendo fan. Even now, when I have a Playstation 2, and no Gamecube, I still like Nintendo more. So this review is not just a bias complaint about Nintendo vs. Playstation.

This version of THPS2 is terrible. Oh, yeah, it's tons of fun when you haven't played the Playstation version, but when you have, you realize just how pitifull this is. On PS, it's rated T, because they don't blurt out words like "hell" on songs. On Nintedno, It's rated E, so the whole family can enjoy censored versions of songs by Powerman 5000, Papa Roach & Rage Aganist the Machine. And another thing music wise: THEY DON'T EVEN PLAY THE WHOLE SONG! They cut out one of the choruses and the verses (this is an example), and just let it go from there. And the track doesn't go to the next track when it's done; it just plays over and over and over, to where you have to change it yourself every 3 listens. And it's not just the music. There's too much to say, so just play the PS version, PLEASE! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but get the Playstation version instead
Extreme sports video games, up until the year 2000, were usually extremely lacking. The games often suffered from poor play control and graphics, and seemed rushed. But at long last, in the year 2000, Activision set out to correct all that had been done wrong previously with such titles. They went the extra mile to try to make the perfect skateboarding game. Did they succeed? Read on for my review of Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
PROS:
-UNLIKE A NUMBER OF EXTREME SPORTS TITLES, THIS ONE USES ACTUAL PEOPLE! As the title of the game may have implied, Tony Hawk is a playable character. In addition to Hawk, there are a number of other pro boarders selectable.
-THE GAME USES ACTUAL MUSIC BY ACTUAL BANDS! Most extreme sports titles feature lame, generic music that sounds like it would be better off elsewhere. In this game, that is NOT true. Bands like Goldfinger and Primus contributed music to this game, and their contributuions are one of the things that make this game so great. The other bands that contributed aren't as well known, but their songs are no less excellent.
-NO TWO CHARACTERS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE. Although every character plays in a similar fashion, each one has his or her own special moves. Likewise, what one character may lack in one area he may make up for in another, while with another character it may be vice versa.
-THERE ARE A NUMBER OF INTERESTING LOCATIONS. This game's settings are another great strength that it has. You'll go everywhere from an abandoned warehouse to an abandoned mall, and even a dam! There is no shortage of cool places to go in this games.

CONS:
-IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT THIS VERSION OF THE GAME WOULD GET AN E RATING FROM THE ESRB, THE BLOOD AND MANY OF THE SONG LYRICS HAVE BEEN EDITED OUT. THAT is why I suggested in the subject bar that you get the Playstation version instead.
-CONTROLS TAKE SOME GETTING USED TO. If you've never played any game by Activision that uses this same game engine, expect to take some time adjusting to the controls. Once you get the hang of them, though, you'll end up liking them. And, of course, the N64 controller is godawful anyway, so it's even harder to adjust to the controls on this system.
-LATER ENTRIES IN THE SERIES WERE CONSIDERABLY BETTER. Although this was a good game, the later games were better, featuring more characters (and some even cooler secret ones), more secrets, and more music. Oh well, this game is still good.
-THE GAME GETS TOO HARD, TOO FAST. This game starts easy, but gets hard after a few short play sessions. Expect to blister your thumbs a lot, and often times accomplish nothing for it.

OVERALL:
Overall this is a very good game. Sure, it's overrated, but that's because it's a good game! If you want the best skateboarding games out there, the games in the Tony Hawk series are exactly what you're looking for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game but the music absolutly STINKS!
When I got this game it took me maybe one week to actually beat it (with help of a walk through). Now I still play and I plan to beat it with all the people (wich will take up all the memory on my card). But the music absolutly STINKS. I mean how can anyone listen to this junk.I mean come on! The music has been my only complaint so far. And I can turn it off so it doesn't hurt my overall score of the game...

5-0 out of 5 stars Stephen's Fact of Life
You want an awesome game? Tony Hawk is the bomb! You will be blown away by this game. Great graphics, easy to learn controls, and the best, baddest skateboarding moves ever! Check out the other Tony Hawk games for even more excitement! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Madden 2002 ROCKS!!!!!!!
Madden 2002 is a cool game! Yesterday, the New York Jets made the highest score in an NFL game, winning 67-0 over the 2002 and 2004 Super Bowl champion, New England Patriots!!! Martin made NINE TOUCHDOWNS FOR THE BIG APPLE!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons
Before i start i want to say that if you want a game that you can play for a year and not beat this is the game.

Madden 2002 has many good and bad things about it, Great A.I. and it is also very realistic, maybe too realistic.

I say too realistic because you can get fidgity when the Refs pullout the chain or the teams switch sides. It shows all of this so it can really be time consuming.

Also, a good QB can complete at least 65%of their passes. EA dosen't agree with me though 'cause in Madden 2002 even if your guy is open there is still a good chance that the ball will go through their head or their hands.

Quick, name a RB who can rush 12 yards a carry. What, no one does, well go tell that to EA cause on the hardest diffulculty I can rush for 12 yards a carry with Browns running back Rhite.

Bottom Line: Rent it, or pick it up at a yard sale cheap.

1-0 out of 5 stars keyword
The keyword for this game is sucks. it is just the same as madden 2001 except a mode that teaches you how two play the game and mulligans which i think is totaly stupid. i would just buy the 2001 version because it is cheaper

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Football Game EVER!!!
This game is the best football game ever. It has everything; grraphics, good gameplay, and realistic. The only 2 downsides is John Maddens voice (which says the same thing 4-5 times a game but u can turn his voice off) and on thee sideline everybody is 88. I have some super records on this game including getting 79 points in 5 min quarters and have one receiver catch over 1000 yards and 6 TDs in a game. Anyway this game is awesome and i would totally recommend it to good football fans/gamers.

They say the third time's a charm, but what if everything was done rightthe first and second time around? That's the hurdle Tony Hawk's Pro Skater3 faces, as previous entries in this series are regarded by most gamers asperfect. Difficult as it is to believe, Pro Skater 3 introduces enoughnew features and great skate parks to make it another must-buy.

The biggest addition is the revert, which when combined with the manualintroduced in the previous game, lets players string together some amazing vertand grind combos. Once again, every ledge you see in the game is grindable, andthe massive levels are packed with switches, hidden areas, and other secretsthat will take months to fully explore (and exploit).

Things are a little on the chunky side graphically, but that's to be expected.Regardless, the animation is smooth and the frame rate stays high despite theenormous and complex environments this game lets players explore. The eclecticsoundtrack--which features acts ranging from the Ramones to Del the FunkyHomosapien--is another highlight, but it's still the Zenlike feeling you getfrom chaining together combo after outrageous combo that keeps you coming backfor more. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Smooth animations
  • Revert adds vert combos to the game
  • Enormous skate areas
Cons:
  • No option to create female players

Alright I am a skater fan and everyting, and I own every tony hawk game on N64 PSX and PS2. Tony hawk 3 is a cool game, dont get me wrong, but it could have been better. The tricks and Graphics were improved, but the skate park stuff was mostly the same. I beat the game in 2 hours max.Its a cool game though, Like I said. But I believe its better on PS2

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cool!
I own Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 for the N64, but nothing ever prepared me for such a great game as this one! It's awesome and I don't regret spending the money for it at all. The graphics are tapped up a notch (in my opinion anyway) and the all new Revert is outstanding for major combos! The revert was kind of confusing at first, but that's my only complaint so far. It still has a few of the funny glitches from THPS 2, but they don't really hurt the games overall score any for me. The levels are cool and large as well. Sadly, no living people or cars like in the other console versions of the game. And it should have a lot of replay value for all of those who have friends who like the game (or siblings)because the 2-Player modes are off the hook! I loved this game and it is one of the best for the N64. In my opinion, it gets 5 out of 5 stars easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
I can't believe anyone would pay 40 bucks for this game when you can get a superior version on the ps2 for 20 bucks.who are they kidding?

5-0 out of 5 stars T. H. 3 ROX!
This is the best game of skateboarding ever! The levels, graphix, sound, and music are all awsome! You even get to skate in an airport, on a cruise ship (all over it) and in a facility! BUY IT NOW! This is one game you simply can't afford to miss!

Considering the success Rare's GoldenEye 007 has had onthe Nintendo 64, Electronic Arts designers had their work cut out forthem in making another 3-D shooter using the James Bond license. TheWorld Is Not Enough is a smashing success in terms of its graphicsand sound, as well as in how it weaves the movie's plot into thegameplay. Unfortunately, this Bond game has just enough flaws to keepit from achieving classic status.

If you've seen the movie on which this is based, the game's levels willall be familiar. There has been a kidnapping and it's up to you toscour the globe, rescue the victim, and untangle a twisty plot lacedwith betrayal. It wouldn't be a Bond game without myriad gadgets tohelp you along the way, so there's plenty of stuff to play with, including a multifunction laser/stun gun/grappling hook watch, safecracking equipment, and x-ray glasses. Weapons range from Bond'ssignature 9 mm automatic to shotguns, assault rifles, and everything inbetween.

The game takes full advantage of the N64 Expansion Pak to pumpup the graphics, and the game uses speech compression to give all thecharacters spoken dialogue. This makes the missions far more engagingthan they would otherwise be, but brain-dead enemies really spoil thefun. The average Bond movie henchmen don't exactly have Einstein- caliber IQs, but shooting wave after excruciating wave of soldiers whodo little more than blindly rush at you is just tedious. At least mostmissions throw innocent guards and bystanders into the mix so that evenif the enemy isn't thinking clearly, you still have to be on your toesto prevent civilian casualties. The World Is Not Enough is asolid game that should appeal to fans of the movie, but stick withGoldenEye 007 or Perfect Dark if you want to experience atruly good 3-D shooter on the N64. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Good graphics, and the clear speech is a nice touch
  • Tough missions are filled with fun objectives
  • The need to protect innocents adds a lot of tension to the game
Cons:
  • Don't even think about it if you don't have an Expansion Pak
  • Games must be saved to a memory card
  • Generic opponents don't provide much of a challenge

4-0 out of 5 stars the world is not enough
The only good EA Bond game that I've played. It's nowhere near any of the classics, but it could at least hold its own against other games of the non-classic variety.

The singleplayer mode is good. Some levels are bothersome, but overall, it's fun. Good levels, nice guns, decent a.i. The movie's plot is told very well, from getting rid of Davidov to swimming through a sunken submarine to finish the baddies and save the world.

The multiplayer is great. It's not quite as option-packed as Perfect Dark, but it's good. My major complaint is the whole GOOD and EVIL thing. Each character is either GOOD or EVIL, and GOOD characters can't fight each other. It's annoying, but there are at least plenty of characters to choose from(and even more to unlock) that it hasn't bothered me more than a handful of times.

TWINE has some of my favorite multiplayer levels ever. A hedgemaze, two small bases connected by a skyrail(this level is done better than it's Nightfire counterpart), and one of the coolest, a blackbird jet and a cargo plane connected by a fueling line flying in the air. It's fun to go out on the wings and try not to get blown down by the wind, or to go on top of the cargo plane to snipe people off of the blackbird below.

The bots are generally pathetic, though. If you're accostumed to instinctively circle-strafing, the bots don't present much of a threat. I played an entire game without using weapons. I just got really close to the bot and circle-strafed while punching them, and they didn't even get a hit in.

But that's only like half of the bots. The other half are okay.

I was also upset to find that there's no way to setup the controller so that you can use the up and down c-buttons to look like in Goldeneye. Instead, they are for jump and for crouch. No way to move jump and crouch to up and down d-pad. I need my freelook more than I need jump and crouch in multiplayer. O well.

Overall, this game is actually really fun, but the few flaws really stand out and keep it from being classic.

4-0 out of 5 stars BetterThan the first
this game is great except that some of the levels are very confusing.the multiplayer gives it 4 stars because you can play by yourself with 3 bots or 2 players with 2 bots or just 2 players there are many many characters to choose from.

4-0 out of 5 stars Addictive game; frustrating at times.
I loved this game because once you start playing it you can't stop playing it, but most of the time it can be somewhat frustrating, especially the last level. If you loved Goldeneye, then you'll definitley love this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bond is Back
In the sequel to GoldenEye for N64, 007 proves that nobody does it better. Again. As you turn on the console, you will note the first of its flaws. You must sit through about 10 seconds of credits to EA games and MGM interactive. The second thing is, unlike its predessesor, it doesn't have a gun barrel scene (not even in the first level cutscene) which could have turned out beautifully and instead goes right to the title screen. The options include: Start Game (14 total levels), Load/Save Game (yes, you will require a memory pak to save your progress, another flaw), Options, and Multiplayer (10 open levels, 4 locked ones).
Single Player:
General-You will the selection of three difficulty levels: Agent, Secret Agent, and 00 Agent. 00 and Secret Agent will not have as many bod armor vests and the enemies' bullets will hurt more. The cutscenes have spoken dialogue, a welcome improvement as well as appropriate body movements and gestures.
Gameplay-You will begin almost every mission with your Wolfram P2K, by pressing B+Z, you can silence it as well as change other weapons to secondary fire mode. Your hands will look realistic and not flat, like in the PSX version (though this version's backgrounds are not so detailed). You can watch Bond do the reloading instead of hiding the gun, reloading sounds, and it comes back into view. The guns are accurately articulated and the firing of the weapon will look convincing (even more so with the optional expansion pak). You can jump, crouch, strafe, even swim in particular levels in addition to running and shooting. No vehicles will be driven, though there is a first person skiing level which is designed much better than the one in the PSX TND game. Finally, Q-Branch has equipped you with top of the line gadgets one of them including the Tazer/Dart/Laser/Grapple watch, the pen grenade, covert modem, data scramblers, finger scanner, and more. Over 15 different weapons included.
Multiplayer:
In this game, you can play multiplayer alone with the new-to-Bond AI Bots. They are pretty stupid but even so can present a good challenge. There are different sets of weapons and game modes.
In conclusion, a worthy sequel to GoldenEye.

5-0 out of 5 stars The World Is Not Enough by Electronic Arts
Missions are intriguing and absorbing. Needs better graphics of people however, but has definatly earned it's 5* ranking. 2 player mode is dissapointing, and more types of weapons are needed. Conversations and messsages are excellent. Follows plot most accuratly and has awesome movie clips. ... Read more

Considering its humble beginnings on the Sega Genesis, the Maddenseries has come a long way (and even moreyardage has been covered by the PlayStation2's inaugural scrimmage). Even withexpectations high, Madden NFL 2001 for the Nintendo 64 is very, verygood. This game looks better than the original NFL Quarterback Club--anearly standard in football visuals--and plays like the previous year's versionof Madden on the PlayStation.

EA Sports has added some new playability features, such as collectable MaddenCards for fulfilling certain tasks in the game. The Madden Cards can be tradedwith friends, using the Nintendo 64 memory card, and can be used to unlocksecret game codes, players, stadiums, and legendary NFL teams. The new two-minutedrill feature allows up to 10 players to compete for the highest score.

But Madden NFL 2001does have some trouble in a couple of areas. The CPUhas a problem with clock management when it is behind with time running out;sometimes it will fail to call a time-out and let the clock expire at the halfor at the end of the game. Madden himself sounds a little run down in this gameas he only has a few phrases and he says them over and over and over. The crowdnoise and the cheers are not very well done and can get annoying.

Despite its few flaws, pound for pound this is the best NFL football title evermade for the Nintendo 64. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Best football game yet made for the Nintendo 64
  • Collectable Madden Cards can be used to unlock secret game codes, players, stadiums, and teams
  • New 2-minute drill feature
Cons:
  • Clock-management bug sometimes lets time expire at the half
  • Repetitive Madden phrases

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this
You shouldn't get this because for 1, none of the trades are up to date. Also if you were to get this you wouldn't get all the cool features that John Madden 2002 like 2minute drill where you can be on defense. ALso th Madden cards are way better inth 2002 version because you can get cheerleader cards. Also in the 2002 versiof the levels of diffiulty like on All Madden mode is actually hard and if your good you won't absulutely blow out the other team.Another reason you Shouldn't get this is because if you got this you wouldn't be able to use the Houston Texans which only 2002 has.

2-0 out of 5 stars very frustrating
I just couldn't enjoy this game.I would get filled with anger and have to turn it off.I don't know if all these people played this game for N64 but the only thing going for this game is the graphics. The AI isn't good, it just cheats.Their guys can run and catch through your guys.It is impossible to run, because it is nearly impossible to break tackles.Your man is never open because when you throw the ball the computer players get a sudden burst of speed and all of a sudden your guy is triple-teamed by the time the ball gets there.Penalties are usually in favor the computer.Madden 2002 is a much better game, but that isn't on N64.If I had to buy for 64, I would ethier get QB Club 2001 or Madden 2000.

5-0 out of 5 stars Crazy Football fan
This game is REALLY fun! I have it and I created a season with the Bucconers and Made a NFL Record with the team, and W.Dunn. Awsome game if your getting it for you or something,I garentee that they will have fun with it.at first its kinda hard to control the pad;so,Have fun!!!

I'm the kind of person that likes games that make you as the gm. When i'm the gm in games I only like them if they are challenging no special advantages for either side and I like sports games as realistic as possible. If you are like that or similar to that it's a great idea to read this article. If not there should a lot of things you will catch that'll help you make your descision in weather or not you will by this game.

The two minute drill is a fun game which you play. The object is to score as much points as you can in two minutes.(Play for personal goals) You get three time outs and you never play defense. When you play two minute drill the smartest thing to do is to throw deep passes close to out of bounds. After you play this for a while you will notice that you have goten better at the game and that the plays you do most often on two minute drill usually will be the you will do most often in real game because you have goten used to the plays. Sorry about not going into details to the non-likers of franchise fans.

Franchise mode is only allowed for 30 years and depending on how good of a gm you are it can take a short period of time or an hour an off-season and season. (Dont watch or coach games or else stats in the game are really messed up and the game starts to become less and less realistic)To begin the game you will have either a full 42 round draft with some players left out at the end or just get your favorite team with all the players it had that year. First year you do not handle contracts in the beginining and theres no pre-season but after you've played your first game you have total control over your franchise by controlling your budget in a wise way. Before each game it's has ratings it gives for each team saying which team has a better secondary defensive line or better qb and a lot more. Before you go to your schedule you will see screen you have the ability to go and they are stats which has coach team stats, individual stats, team standings, and team rankings. The one under that is leauge news which has all-madden team, and All-Rookie team, league transactions, injury reports, team schedules, pro bowl voting, yearly awards, and player awards. Another link is manage rosters which has Player management, roster breakdown, depth chart, trade, sign player, re-sign player, and release player. Then the record book link has individual, team, and coaching records. Settings has gameplay, penalty settings, sound options, and control configuration. Last one is franchise set-up which has coach set-up and team set-up.

Anyway off with the boring things and on with the exciting things. Which gets us going into talking about the play-offs. The way you get in the play-offs is the exact same way you into the play-offs in real football. During the play-offs the players will play their butts off until there are only two teams left. And when there's two teams left there is a super bowl. Simply making it to the play-offs has a huge effect on your resame with the same to every game you play in the regular season but if you could win a super bowl with your team you practically can get any job you want unless you go 0-16 the next season. When your hired as a coach(gm)you get to make all the descisions thankfully in this game there are no Jerry Jones, George Steinbrener buting in to your desicion.(But I dont think in any game Jones or Steinbrener buts in????????????)Anyways if you get fired the only options you have is to turn off your nintendo or hope you have a good enough resame to impress some president.(Not of a country!)By the way make sure you dont blow off your money because if you do you'll be put in such a bad situation that if one person gets injured you'll have to blow off your job.Uh-oh I got to go sorry.
