Amazon.com Review

No One Lives Forever is an outstanding action-adventure gamethatcombines the campy 1960s-style spy-spoof story lines of the Austin Powers movies with thebest single-player gameplay we've experienced since Half-Life. Clever, funny, andstylish aren't words normally associated with first-person shooters, butNOLF is anything but normal.

Assuming the role of sexy UNITY operative Cate Archer, you must complete 15enormous and distinct missions to keep the world safe from H.A.R.M., anefariousorganization rife with colorful arch-villains. In true Hollywood style, thegameis laced with cutscenes that set the stage for your missions and advance theplot by showing H.A.R.M. higher-ups boasting about their evil plans. Thedialogue in both the cutscenes and the in-game action sequences is witty andgenuinely funny, and the voice acting is excellent. We found ourselves hidingindark corners just so we could eavesdrop on the bad guys.

The comic antics end abruptly when enemies catch wind of your presence.Whetherthey stumble across a body you carelessly left in your wake, hear you creepingabout, respond to a tripped alarm, or simply see you, these foes are allbusiness. They will stalk you, duck behind cover, and call for reinforcements. All the action is straight from a spy movie: shoot a guy on a balcony, andhe'lltumble over the rail and fall to the ground. Fire a gun underwater, and you'llsee the spiral trail of the bullet.

Most missions can be approached in a variety of ways, and althoughfull-frontalassaults are possible, stealthy progression is usually better for your health.Being a superspy, you'll have plenty of gadgets to help you along the way, froma lock-pick barrette to a robotic poodle capable of turning even the mostferocious attack dog into man's best friend. Players who like to send a moredirect message will enjoy playing with the game's full assortment of firearms, including Bond-worthy silencer pistols and briefcase rocket launchers.

The quality of AI and inventiveness of the single-player missions arefortunatebecause the multiplayer component doesn't compare to Unreal Tournament or Counter-Strike. Regardless,No One Lives Forever should be on the short list of any fan offirst-person shooters looking for an unbeatable solo experience. --T. ByrlBaker

Pros:

  • Multiple approaches to nearly every level add to the replay value
  • Loads of atmosphere
  • Contains some of the most unorthodox and enjoyable missions we've everplayed
  • Amazing detail
  • Smart and funny
Cons:
  • Not the prettiest 3-D engine on the market

5-0 out of 5 stars If only EA...
...could make Bond titles this good! Playing NOLF really puts an emphasis on the creative apathy at Electronic Arts. Monolith took a clean-slate approach to the superspy FPS genre and came up with a fun, hip, slick shooter that feels like a stealth title, adventure, and shooter wrapped up in one day-glo far-out package. It's long, deep, and constantly innovative. No level feels like the last, there is no "value padding."
Even while executing its maneuvers with grace and force, NOLF will draw smiles and an occasional chuckle with it's self-deprecating sense of farce. It's the rare game not afraid to laugh at itself! NOLF is thoroughly enjoyable and a must-play for all PC gamers.

*Download the V1.03 patch from the company website before play*
Pros:
-Innovative and USEFUL gadgetry
-Brilliantly colorful, detailed, and geographically correct environments
-Masterful use of shadow and lighting
-Variety of gameplay, never tedious
-Accurate, responsive control
-Engaging story and characters
-Humor ranging from Carrot-Top corny to occasionally hilarious (the German HARM agents debating morality killed me)

Cons;
-Slighty over-cooked dialogue (could have benefitted from editing)
-Poorly executed "stealth" missions (major inconsistencies in enemy and surveillance camera awareness, even with V 1.03 patch)

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome
This remains my favorite game ever, even if other games had better graphics even when it came out.

Not only do you play an interesting character and you have a great story, the enemy aren't complete idiots. Best of all, the game makes you laugh. I can't count the times, I stopped to listen to a side conversation and was laughing to hard to avoid getting shot.

Valve updated the graphics for Half-Life; I wish Sierra would do the same for No One Lives Forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking, witty, seriously creative classic.....
After Half- Life, no other game came close to matching its style and execution. At that time, Age of Empires , Warcraft 2 etc were the mainstay since they offered some variety in real-time strategy. However, the First-Person shooter genre was devoid of any conceptually appealing games, barring the usual Quake or Unreal, which weren't story driven in the real sense. One can call them as graphics-defining games. But a struggling company called Monolith, which had a few average games to its credit, released No One Lives Forever, and the result was a community changed overnight !. Never in FPS genre has a title influenced so much in both gameplay and story. Half-Life was indeed great, but creativity in NOLF is downright legend.

The game sets you in the swinging 60's. You are Cate Archer, a sexy, svelte, lethal super-spy working for a top secret anti-terrorist organization called Unity. Being a former thief, you have the skills to hide, sneak up, snipe and use wicked gadgetry behind enemy lines with a cat-like grace and oodles of energy, confidence, and humour. A sinister organization called H.A.R.M seeks to destroy the world by unleashing a chemical agent (I wont tell you what it does, it'll spoil the fun !), bringing with it utter chaos and fear. Cate must race against the clock to unearth H.A.R.M's true motive and eventually destroy it.

Before I get to the positive points, let me first talk about the graphics. NOLF runs on Lithtech engine, custom created by Monolith itself. It is the same one driving the Alien vs Predator series. The engine is fairly old and many objects appear blocky. Also, the lighting is non-dynamic and shadows do not cast any visible image on other objects of the environment. In short, there is nothing home to write about NOLF's appearance. But then again, this game was released way back in 2001 and at that time, it looked really pretty. And it still is , even today. NOLF derives an unusual sense of appeal from the way it is presented. Since the swinging sixties was all about hippies and bright colours, this engine is absolutely perfect in capturing the essence of that era. Cate herself looks gorgeous , even with the limited textures. And the level design is absolutely superb. The game developers knew exactly the weaknesses and strengths of the engine and derived the most out of it.Please dont judge NOLF by how it looks (from a different perspective, it actually looks fabulous !) because its real strengths lie somewhere else.

The story actually sets your senses running. It is not something you read a thousand times in one form or another. The way the plot is revealed really appeals to the senses. NOLF has tremendous twists and the plot is thankfully human-centric too. You feel for Cate when she is in desperate situations or really laugh out when she is faced with the lighter side of things. But all this is ultimately packaged with humorous dialogues. NPC's will converse if you are stealthy enough to not alert them and their discussions is what makes this game so ground-breaking. Sensational interaction. You'd actually want to listen to them talk and the result will be some really lung-splitting verbal exchanges. It's that good. All the main characters, who move the story forward, are some of the most memorable ever made. And each one has a unique personality that is endearing. Simply put, every character :friend of foe, has someting to say and it's a treat. Monolith has blended pure action with creative dialgoue and story to bring out a new FPS outlook. On top of that, if you do alert your enemy, you will be faced with some of the most intelligent AI in any game to date. Your enemy is no pushover. He will, shoot, hide, reload, run across the room, roll over and also co-ordinate attacks with his like. If you play in the hardest mode, better learn their patterns, or you're toast !. But once you learn to anticipate, then they are easy to kill. Expect accurate shots from them though !.

If the story is the icing, then the gameplay is the delicious chocolate cake. You have an assortment of gadgets, from the standard silenced Carbine, trusty AK47 to the awesome Draganov and single-shot pistol. On top of that, Cate has some truly innovative items like lipstick explosive, acid-spray, dog-teaser poodle ,belt zip line etc. All these gadgets are a must-use to see their effect. The missions are beautifully designed and each has certain unique objectives that only a few gadgets can help you accomplish it. One entire level has only stealth, forcing you to dodge cameras and H.A.R.M agents !. In short, NOLF throws you constant surprises at every given turn.

The music is superbly catchy. Monolith has made sure that the sounds reflect the era and the result is one rollercoaster dynamic soundtrack. Also the game is intelligent enough to change tempo when you combat and enemy or sneak up on him. The ambient sounds are satisfactory and all your gadgets have distinctive immersive sounds. Top notch.

If there is one occasional drawback (not much actually) then it has to be the in-game cut scenes. Though witty and creative, some are downright too long. And some, you actually cannot avoid. But safe to say, they absolutely do not negate NOLF's overall appeal in any way.

Conclusion : This is not a game to be rented. It is to be bought !. Do not judge the cover, for NOLF is an absolute page-turner!. It is one of the most inventive, creative and challenging game in the market. If you like a game that does not fall into your standard hit-and-run titles that have deluged the market, then NOLF is for you. Play this title and then you will appreciate its sequel even more, which is fantastic. This is one game that will be in your collection of classics, long after you said Cate goodbye.
Happy hunting......

5-0 out of 5 stars More than just a first person shooter
Woo! It's the 60's! You're a secret agent on a mission.
This is not just another first person shooter. There's so much more to it than just that. It has a rich storyline through the player progresses and as more is revealed, the more interesting things become. This game won't let you set it down until you finish it

5-0 out of 5 stars better even than the sequel
This game is one of the best PC games ever. The graphics are OK but the gameplay is out of this world ! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Many people think...
a skateboarding game? Do a few tricks, but it's just riding around! Those people probably never played Tony Hawk. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for Xbox has an extra Cruise Ship level. If you aren't used to these controls, a big tutorial will help. It features Tony Hawk's voice in the tutorial! Many games that have the following traits usually don't change much through the series:
-Non Action/Adventure category series
-Endorsed by pro of sport
-Yearly release
Tony Hawk is one of these but it changes quite a bit unlike EA Sports titles and those type. EA Sports charges 50 bucks for a remake that barely ever changes. If looking for a fun game, this is yours.
And there is Tony Hawk 1 for Xbox. For that, get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X. Both 1 & 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you're not a Tony Hawk fan, you'll still like the game!
Even if you're not a Tony Hawk fan, You'll still love the game! It has great graphics, good action, and most of all, so much fun! It was my first xbox game and I have 7 games but I still play this one the most! If you're looking for a game, pick this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST TONY HAWK GAME THERE EVER WILL BE!!!
Tony Hawk 1 was a classic, I wish they would make it for Xbox....But Tony Hawk 3 is the best. I have played this game over and over and never get tired of it. You do everything on a skateboard on 3, unlike Underground which I dont care much for. The career levels are great with different scenery everytime. Over all this game is a must have for any gamer or skater....

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money
I went to my friend's house and my friend owns an Xbox. He has lots of games of the Xbox. I picked out Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 to play first. Man, it was great. The game looked so good.

This is the second Tony Hawk game on the Xbox. The Xbox version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 has better graphics than the PS2 and the Gamecube. I played all three versions, but the Xbox's graphics was better, but the graphics was slightly better. The Xbox version has less slowdown than the PS2 and the Gamecube. It also has extra stuff, too. It has an Exclusive Xbox level and a secret character.

Gameplay- There are nearly two dozen characters in the game. There are a lot of modes for you to play in. This game is a lot of fun. You could play two player or just one. The career mode is the heart of the game. You play in each level and you try to complete goals that must be completed to open new levels. The money thing in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is gone, but they replaced it with the five stat points. In each level, there's a new deck design. There are also three competition levels.

If you played Tony Hawk 2X, the controls are about the same. The grinds and verts are the same, too. There's a meter for manuals and grinds. This game is all about the grinds and manuals I think because you need them for those Sick Scores. The Sick Scores are 500,000 points.

They added a new thing to this game which is the revert. By pressing the trigger just before landing from a vert trick or an invert, you can continue the trick line. That is also useful. The levels are a lot of fun in the game. The environments are realistic.

Story- This game is about skateboarding and this can be played by anyone. If you like or dislike skateboarding, this game still can be fun. There are five multiplayer modes. Trick Attack is fairly simple. You just do tricks to see who can achieve the highest score. Horse is when you take turns trying to do tricks. The first person does a trick, and the second person has to beat the score. If the person doesn't beat the score he gets a letter. Graffiti is when you trick everywhere. You can grind and do tricks on ramps and they will be your color. If your opponent does a trick on the ramp that you just did on, and he has a higher score than you, it's his ramp now. Slap! This is just like tag. You try to knock them over. King of the Hill is a race to find the crowns and become the king of the hill.

Audio/Video- The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 soundtrack is awesome. The tunes are good in the game. If you get sick of the tunes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, you can always customize your own soundtrack. I customized my soundtrack and it was cool. Tony Hawk was skating to Britney Spears. It was quite funny. The sound effects are nice. The sounds of grinds are pretty good. Pedestrians will talk as you pass by.

The graphics of this game are totally awesome! This game maintains 60fps throughout most levels. There are just a few slowdowns and most of them are in the start of the levels. The Xbox version was actual smoother than the PS2 and the Gamecube. The slowdowns are greatly improved.

The levels are big with great detail. The Xbox version has slightly better blood smears. Each of the characters in this game are fully animated.

The environments are filled with pedestrians and cars. There is also traffic and can run you over. Birds fly, cops chasing the robbers, and some other things.

Replayability- Once you beat the game, it's worth playing it over and over again with a new character or your own created character. This game will last you until Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 comes out. In this game, you will never get bored, or unless you absolutely suck at this game. You could play multiplayer which is cool, too.

Buy or Rent- If you are a hardcore fan of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, then I suggest you to purchase this game. If you aren't into this game, and want to try it out, I suggest you to RENT. If you think that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2X [stunk], I suggest you to rent it to see how awesome the version is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grind it, baby
Thank you, Tony Hawk, for finally forcing a game developer to create, distribute and support a good skating game. Great artwork, physics and maps are all hallmarks of this cutting edge video game.
The gameplay is excellent and the corses are challenging. The variations on the controls allow the user to be creative and still achieve the goals. I am still learning new tricks and raising my point levels.
The inclusion of the manual trick has completed changed the game and opened up tremendous new opportunities for the user.
Excellent buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is why M-K & A are suing the developer-It stinks
Got it for a 6 & 8 yr old & even my husband & I are unable to "beat" the computer players. It has no option to not let the computer play. It is very frustrating & we are ready to pitch it.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Is Ok
I have this game and I love it the only problem is that there is no Rock Climbing, No mini Golfing, no triva, and no drivers test like people say. I still love this game no matter what because you still have to do all the tasks and you have to get a good grade. You also have to watch out for cars. I really like this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the price!
This game is the best! The only hard part about it is the cars but once you get used to it you'll get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Challenging
This game is challenging. You have to watch for cars in front of you. I have to play a level 50 times in order to go on. I'm a challenging girl, so buy it. It's fun!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great - until you play NBA Live 2004
This game was really fun when I first got it. The gameplay was great.
You can use classic uniforms for every team.
Players celebrate or mope around after a key shot.
The franchise mode was alright.
The commentary could be a lot better. They repeat themselves a lot and say things that are stupid.
Fouls are called when they shouldn't be and aren't called when they should be.
1 on 1 is a really fun option. You can build up your skills and can play in an urban court, beach court, or a gym.
NBA LIVE 2003 IS OKAY, BUT COULD BE A LOT BETTER!

The other day I played NBA Live 2004 for the first time. I could not believe the realism. Everything is extremely realistic. You feel like your actually in a basketball game. The commentary can't get any better. The gameplay is outstanding, too. The smooth graphics and player animations. You can use EVERY classic uniform from every team in a game.

4-0 out of 5 stars excelente juego, pero...

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is great , but it could be better
This game is great. I like it a lot and I could name of 20 or 30 good things about it, but one thing is bad.YOU CAN SCORE ON ANY BODY AT ANY TIME!!!Basicly,it just lets you fly right past your defender. I know a lot about basketball, and you just can NOT fly rigt past your defender unless your Michal Jordan or Kobe Bryant. But everything else is nearly perfect, so for that one bad thing, I'll give it 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Basketball Game
I just got this game 2 weeks ago but I am VERY impressed! The new freestyle system is really cool where you can move the C-Stick(If you have Gamecube)and do different moves and tricks! Also by using the D-Stick you can call off you're own plays like isolation and the pick and roll.Another good feature is a 2-player franchise mode play through ten exciting seasons with one of your friends! This game is mine AND my friends favorite game!We play this game all the time. This a great game with almost Unlimited replay value. If you don't have this game but it NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than the 2K Series
The NBA Live Series is so much better than the 2k series. Graphics are better, gameplay is better, controls are better,A.I is better, and is funner than 2K.

Graphics: 10/10
These graphics look so realistic. Theyre clean and legible.

Controls: 10/10
The controls are easy. Pass, shoot, crossover, the works.

Music: 7/10
NBA Live music is okay. they need betterhip hop, although there are some hip hop songs by Fabolous, Jermaine Dupri, and Flipmode Squad feat. Busta Rhymes.

Fun: 10/10
NBA Live will not leave you bored. Theres so much to do: season, franchise, playoffs, 1 on 1, practice, exhibition game, All-Star game, and you can get old school onto your teams. You can alsoget a cheat to get Fabolous and Busta Rhymes as a player.

Overall: 10/10
Too much fun. This cold be the best sports game ever made, it is in my opinion. Go buy for yourself and youll see how much better it is than the NBA 2K series. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Fans of past installments in the Knockout Kings series will be surprisedby several changes to the 2002 version. Previously, you had to fight your way upa list of 20 challengers and fine-tune your skills by training between boutsbefore getting your shot at the champ. But Knockout Kings 2002 scraps allthis in favor of a four-tiered pyramid system in which you need to beat just 11out of 14 challengers before fighting for the title. While it doesn't feel ashard-earned, it's still satisfying to advance your boxer out of dingy gyms andinto major venues such as Caesar's Palace. Career mode still offers theopportunity to create your own boxer or choose from the 45 available (21 pastand present, 24 fictional). Inexplicably absent, however, are such greats asRocky Marciano, Jake LaMotta, Larry Holmes, and Marvin Hagler, all of whomappeared on past versions of the game.

Also surprisingly absent this time around is the ability to throw body punches. While some boxers have this punch in their repertoires as a body combination, the best you can do with others is slug away at your opponent's head with amultitude of hooks, jabs, straight punches, low blows, or illegal backhands. Andslug away you must if you expect to hold your own against stiffer competition,as finesse options are limited.

Where Knockout Kings 2002 truly shines is in its graphics, thanks to thecombination of boxers' well-sculpted physiques and EA Sports's face-mappingtechnology. The eye-catching detail of the various arenas and rings furtherenhances the realism, right down to the excitable fans in the seats and theblood flying from fighters' mouths. Satisfying smacks of gloves to the face andthuds of bodies hitting the deck can also be heard in abundance. --LarryWhite

Pros:

  • Best graphics yet in the series
  • Lots of boxers and venues from which to choose
Cons:
  • New career mode eliminates past enhancements
  • Few opportunities to throw body punches
  • Fewer real boxers to select
  • Frenetic pace turns most bouts into slugfests

2-0 out of 5 stars Lacking
I was happy to see some new faces in the game (Klitschko Bros) but like others have stated, it is not strategic and lacks the "boxing" of Knockout Kings 2001. It is true to say that every fight is like a slugfest and the one that can hit the buttons the fastest wins. I hope they release a new Knockout Kings and return to the 2001 formula.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Game!
"KO Kings 2002" is an ok game with great graphics, but it is ridiculously HARD to play! If you get frustrated easily DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Every fighter, even the rookies with supposedly low power and skill can beat you up no matter how good you are. Really frustrating and a huge disappointment. Go with KO Kings 2001 where you at least you have a chance to win!

5-0 out of 5 stars best boxing game i ever played
This has pretty much all the champs, Ali, Frazier, Leonard, Lewis, and Holyfield, among others. The graphics, sound, play controls are all well put together. I especially like the blood and bruise feature you can give to a boxer after your player has given him a particularly brutal beating. I've sat down with friends a couple of hours at a time betting on matches we have with each other. That's probably what this game is best for, group participation fun, rather than sitting down by yourself to play it.That is unless you're taking time by yourself to create your own trained boxer. I'd say I created the most powerful one, nobody could beat me after that, until my friend 'accidentally' erased him off my memory card. I say it was on purpose. Definitely go ahead and buy this one at a used price if you want the best boxing game to play with your pals, rather than buying some goofy boxing game like Ready to Rumble, because this a more mature and realistic boxing game.

4-0 out of 5 stars KNOCKOUT KINGS 2002
AN EXCELLENT GAME WITH THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME-MUHAMMED ALI

3-0 out of 5 stars Good game, but some problems.
The game has good graphics and fight sequences. The boxer's facial features and expressions when they get hit is realistic as well, which is one of the reasons why I like this game.

Some of its problems is that Muhammad Ali is too strong and too fast. I was able to beat him, but it took a while to figure out his style. In fact, so much attention and skill is given to Ali that one would think the game should be called Muhammad Ali boxing rather than KK 2002. Another problem is that it's hard to throw body blows. I accidently discovered how to throw body blows when I pressed a bunch of buttons. Until that point, I didn't know I was able to use body punches.

It was disappointing to see only a few popular boxers in this game. It would have been cool to see Dempsey, Marciano, Liston, Tyson, etc. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST GAME I EVER PLAYED!
Now, Im not saying I hate Streetball, but this game makes Streetball look like Sesame-Ball.I bought this game last year for fun, but this game is bull.I wish I bought NBA LIVE 2003!Street hoops doesn't let you create teams and is too easy.I was the Knights and I crushed Baltimore and they had Lil Romeo, all my players were at 50 just to give a challenge and I won 51-0!Its impossible to block but so easy to steal. The movies are pretty good. After a while though, the music in the back gets dumb.I used to be addicted to "Roll-out" but now im not.Seriously, you can bet on games on how many points you can win, but its dumb. Some features I like for example: buying your clothes and bling bling.Haircuts look so fake, doesn't even sway one bit. It's stuck to their heads.I RECOMMEND, SAVE YOUR MONEY

4-0 out of 5 stars All-Star Street-Ball
This game is really awesome! The graphics are great, gamestyles are awespme.
The game styles include 3 on 3, World Tournament and many others.
Also you can unlock different parks and players as you go along(Rucker Park and Hot Sauce)
Another good part about this game is that you can buy your team new haircuts, jewlery, clothes, tatoos with the money you win if you bet on your game.
All in All this game rocks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh Baby!!!!!
I love this game.
It's lets me tour with the guys, but I'm not actually there.
I feel as if Im part of the game.
I felt like Im on the jV team.
Playin players like Ao, HOt shizzle, Main event, 1/2 man, and all the playground legends.

I recommend this game to all the hardcore streetballer and ballerites

PS2 Holla Back !!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS GAME IS FOR G.O.A.T ! ! !
First of all is for the (G)reatest (O)f (A)ll (T)ime players. This game is so ghetto and challenging, it will keep you playing for hours and hours. You will get bored after you played too much because it is true that they spent more time on partnerships(etc) than in gameplay. you could tell.. Compare to NBAStreets (vol. 2), S. Hoops is more ghettoer. ofcourse.. but the gamplay in S.H. is not that realistic than NBA.S .The player's trick moves is quite fast, sometimes you can't really tell what moves they're doing And that hurts the game alot becasue the thing that makes the game more ghettoerer is those street gangsta moves especially :Hotsauce! ANothER cool stuff in the game is those Stores where you can get a haircut, tatoo, chains, watches goldz, shoes, shirts/jerseys, short/pants, glasses, bands, hats, etc... PLUS you can make bet with your money on a catagories you're really good at. I mostly put on all of them because I'm a GOAT.

This game is fun to play (...)BR>I recomend this game to all who loves basketball, well Ghetto basketball plus you can check out videos from the street gangstaz
i said earlier. Man, they sure got skills. For those people who saw the AND1 Tour, you know what I'm talking about...

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Basketball Game
Im a 13 year old girl, this game is not only for boys but for girls too. This game is the best b-ball game that i have played. The controls take time to learn but so does the moves in real life. Once you learn the moves its so cool. Ive almost beaten the world tournament((that just shows that its not imposible like some people say))The games are very relistic, people yelling,no blood no foul, anouncers, and where the games take place are very much like the the real thing. The music sound tracks are not stupid songs, they have people like DMX,Ludacris,Master P and many more. You can bet,buy cloths, chains, tatoos, get a new hair cut. This is the best basketball game its really worth the money!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One warning for you GBA owners
Nintendo advertises this cable to allow 4 people to play together off of one pack. Absolutely not a 100% true. Certain games such as NHL 2002, and other sports games, each player must have a pack to be able to connect. Many parents have found this out all too late on road trips and what not. Make sure you read the warning on the back of the game and instructions to see what you need for multiplayer gaming. (...)

1-0 out of 5 stars a major disappointment
i am a 45 year aerospace engineer and I can't get this piece of junk to work, even after re-reading the poor instructions several times.after messing around with it for a while, it finally does allow two GBAs to link, but its almost as if by accident...

save your money for a gamecube instead...

4-0 out of 5 stars Good accessory
With Nintendo's new Game Boy Advance came a new kind of link cable, one that was exclusively for the advance systems. Read on for the pros and cons of this accessory.

PROS:
-You can use it for multiplayer gaming and trading in some games, sometimes with only one game
-Up to three cables can be connected at a time, meaning up to four people can play at a time
-It's more durable than third-party accessories that do the same thing

CONS:
-It only works for Advance games. If you've got two Advance systems and want to link up on a Game Boy Color game, you'll need one of the older link cables.
-As another reviewer stated, the color scheme of the cable isn't too pleasing
-Third party accessories that perform the same functions are available for a lower price

If you've got a Game Boy Advance, make sure you buy one of these, as it is somewhat of a necessity.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it is made for
This product is made by nintendo, so you know it is going to be well manufactured.it cost me about ten bucks at toys r us.it is about 40 inches, or 3 feet 4 inches.another foot would have been nice, but it gets the job done.

using game link cables, you can have up to four players play at the same time.it takes one cable to connect two people, two to connect three people, and three to connect four people.

i have one problem with it though: why is it grey and PURPLE?most video gamers are guys, and most guys i know are not crazy about the color purple.oh well.

This is probably the best game link on the market currently.get one if you plan to play with other people on your GBA.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best links out there

Amazon.com Product Description

One of the most anticipated sequels in recent memory, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 builds upon the addictive gameplay of the original by adding many new tricks and features. The idea is still to perform complicated tricks for points, and players can still ride as Tony or any of an expanded roster of pros in the new game. Now, however, players can create their own skaters from scratch, selecting appearance, gear, clothes, and more. Players can also create their own ideal skate parks by instantly building ramps, rails, pipes, and other challenging obstacles.

All of the old tricks remain, but the game features hundreds of new additions. Of course, with all of these new tricks to master, there are also more detailed accidents: scraped knees, broken boards, and wall and (ouch!) pole collisions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Extreme Sports Game... wait, theres an N64 version?
Just read the title, this is one heck of a game. I've already mastered this game on the Dreamcast and Game Boy Advance but this N64 version was 9 bucks at Wal-Mart so I just bought it for the cheap price even though I already owned it on 2 other systems. Anyway this is a skateboarding game and you can play as 12 different pros icluding Kareem Cambell, Rune Glifberg, Bucky Lasek and of course Tony Hawk. The gameplay is pretty hard at first but you'll get used to it in no time and start doing 10+ trick combos. The replay value is infinete you'll never get sick of playing it because of all the different tricks you can pull off in the amazingly well set up levels. The levels are fairly huge and are filled with ramps and half pipes and rails to grind. The graphics in this version are a little disapointing mainly because of the cartiridge format the N64 uses. There's mass pop up and fog but it's not too distracting from the gameplay. There's is also slowdown and choppyness whenthings get extreme and there are a few glitches but once you get into the gameplay it's hardly noticable. The controls are also very good C left does the flip tricks, C up does the grinding on rails, C right does grab tricks and C down does the ollies (jumps). Very easy to control but the the N64 buttons you gotta press down hard unlike the Dreamcast controller. Some of the other features in the game include create a skater and create a park. Create a skater has many different options but it isn't too much of a great thing because when you save a skater it will take up MANY blocks on your memory pak. The create a park feature is one of the greatest modes in the game, you have near control on everything in your "park" and you have hundreds of different ramps and objects to choose from. You can even create your own gaps! The sound effects in the game are great you can here the board roll down the pavement and the metal grinding against the trucks. Now there's the music. There are only 6 soundtracks on the N64 because of again, the cartiridge format and some of the songs are reduced. They are also not a very good quality sounding so I suggest you to turn the music off and turn on the stereo and listen to something else. The music soundtracks arent bad though it's just that the N64 makes it sound like crap, the Dreamcast version has the complte tracks in great quality and the songs are pretty good especially "No Cigar" by Millencolin. The multiplayer in this is also great you can do the normal trick attack where the winner is the person with the most points added up from tricks. There's Horse which is where you and the other player take turns doing tricks and you have to score higher than each others scores so you dont spell out horse or any other word you choose to put in there. Then there's Graffiti which is my favorite where you have to skate on many objects as possible and the person who skated on the most objects when the time is up wins. Overall this game is the greatest extreme sports game ever created to sum up. If you have a Dreamcast or PSone purchase it for those systems but N64 owners must get this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best tony hawk game ever
I bought this game not long ago.i also had underground.but when i played this i felt underground is so unrealistick in tricks.u can do like 1080 to like a primo kickflip out in underground.but in this its a lil bit harder to get to a manual from a trick.buy this game id give it a thousand million stars.LOL
get this gamne
way more realistic(trick wise)
awsome soundtrack(rage against the machine-gurilla radio and powerman 5000-when worlds collide and 4 more)

its better than the computer version and way better than Xbox version

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Playing!!
OMG! This game is so freakin' fun! My brother owns the only N64 in the house, and I drive him crazy asking him to play this. It's so much fun. You can make your own levels, or just play the originals (which are great, I must add). If you don't have it, you're missing out!

5-0 out of 5 stars great gamie
this is great try it.if you didnt like the 1 you will like this 1.try it.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOTHING compared to the PS version!
I am a long time Nintendo fan. Even now, when I have a Playstation 2, and no Gamecube, I still like Nintendo more. So this review is not just a bias complaint about Nintendo vs. Playstation.

This version of THPS2 is terrible. Oh, yeah, it's tons of fun when you haven't played the Playstation version, but when you have, you realize just how pitifull this is. On PS, it's rated T, because they don't blurt out words like "hell" on songs. On Nintedno, It's rated E, so the whole family can enjoy censored versions of songs by Powerman 5000, Papa Roach & Rage Aganist the Machine. And another thing music wise: THEY DON'T EVEN PLAY THE WHOLE SONG! They cut out one of the choruses and the verses (this is an example), and just let it go from there. And the track doesn't go to the next track when it's done; it just plays over and over and over, to where you have to change it yourself every 3 listens. And it's not just the music. There's too much to say, so just play the PS version, PLEASE! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good game, too short
This game is one of the best Army Men games 3do has come out with but like all 3do games it is a little to short and the levels are a bit to repeatitive.

Fighting with sarge and his crew is fun but with an army behind you it's allot better. This time instead of being just sarge going around winning a war by yourself you get to build an army that helps you win the war.

The basic gist of the game is to lead an attack and slowly take a house from tan forces, you start at the front of the lawn. It's a unique idea like all army men games.

One of the biggest draw backs to the game were two things, you only get one camera angle and your guys attack everything and anything they see wether you want them to or not.Everythings seems to go to gether smoothly other than that though.

Overall I recommend the game, it's fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't and wont stop playing this game
This game is one of the best games I have ever played. I just can't stop playing it. The characters are funny, the story line is excellent. You fight tans and ants. You team up with little lego men. Make you own army and use it to destroy the tan army. You can make grenade men, bazooka men, rifle men, mortar men, minesweepers, machine-gun men. You can make vechiles like tanks, halftracks, choppers (best vechile in the game), medics, minelayers and "Dum-dums" (little robots carrying explosives.) Build up your own base with guard towers and pillboxes to protect it from invasion. You start the level with a few men which have names. My favourite character is scorch the flamethrower man. The only problems I have with this game is that you can't make flamethrower men and on some levels you can't make people. You can call in paratroopers, bombig runs and a giant magnifying glass to melt something. I have already passed it and I keep going back to play it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ArmyMen Game Ever!!!!!
If you like games such as (War Craft),you`ll LOVE this game, you have the choice of makeing or building Veicals,Men,and Buildings, and collect raw resorces(Plastic and Batteres),you can make Grunts,Grenaders,Snipers,Bazuka Men,Gurd Towers,Pill Boxes,Tanks,Medics,Helicopters,Fencepoasts,Bulldozers,Dumptruks and MORE!!,and you can custimise your VEIW!!,15 challingeing missions, and if you get a gold rank YOU UNLOCK A NEW MISSION!!!,SO HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars RTS is the best game
I beat all of the army men games but this one I waiting to beat this game I would give this a never ending score!

3-0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag.
Army Men RTS tries really hard. I will definetely admit that.

However, the game is too simple for dedicated RTS fans. If you like a hardcore RTS, you are much better off with Warcraft 3 or Commandos 2. Most of the game is too simple, and can end up feeling like RTS for beginners. Which is not a very good thing because ther is not enough depth to the combat. And that hurts the replay value.

But for those of us who relate our Army Men experience to playing Sarge's Heroes 2 or Air Attack, things are the opposite. It gets a little to complicated. If you just want to go through the level and blast things, this is not the best option. There is too much resource management, and menues get too hard to navigate. When I just wanted to movve all my troops forward and use all there ammo on a legion of TAN, I could not do that.

On the other side of things, there are quite a few fans of the original Army Men game on PC. If you liked that, you will probably like Army Men RTS, too. Things are not as deep or as involving as games like Starcraft, so you will be familar with this game.

Overall, if you think this is an action game, it will come off as too complicated. But if you are looking for an involving RTS, it is too simple. IF you are in the middle, well then, you have a good buy. However, the package itself is dragged down by bland graphics and poor camera angles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Madden rocks !
When I got home fom a trip from Viet Nam.I tried to play but I can't get the crack. A year later I got the crack. When I played it was the best!I also won two Super Bowls.

5-0 out of 5 stars great bargin
I hate wasting 50$ on a new video game. Patience pays off, this game is now just 10$ , an incredible deal! The owner mode which lets you manage so much with your team is very cool, but can be very addicting as well. My sole complaint is the manual is not in color. C'mon EA sports you are super rich, give us some color dammit!

4-0 out of 5 stars nice
This game allows you to to make your own team and take them far into the playoffs. the name never under or overestamates the players abbilities. Its more for your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Madden 2004
Madden is a good game. The graphics are good, every thing is set up nicely. However, the franchise is very confusing if u don't have enough time 2 really learn about it...Even then it's still a little confusing. It is very realistic, as you can sign players, cut players. You can also create your own teams.

I would give this game a B+ to an A- grade.

5-0 out of 5 stars TWO MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I truly enjoyed Madden 2004. I am patiently waiting for the 2005, but I have had a ball the last year playing this game. The control you have over players and even the plays make for some fun filled hours. I strongly suggest that anyone who has not tried it to give it a go, the price is right and you will be ready for some football!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

When Sega decided to discontinue the Dreamcast, it opted to make itsexcellent sports titles available for other consoles. And not a moment too soon. Competition is always good and Sega Sports titles, like NBA 2K2, are someof the best in the business.

NBA 2K2 features all the teams, rosters, and, most importantly, rulechanges (like the now-legal zone defense) found in the real NBA. Player faceshave been mapped to realistic body types (complete with tattoos), so you canidentify a big man like Shaq or a speedster like Iverson without looking attheir numbers. The game takes full advantage of the graphics-rendering power ofadvanced consoles by including better texturing, lighting effects, facialanimations, and a higher polygon count to make sure all the jukes, spins, jumps, and dunks are as realistic as possible. The audio is also good, particularly theplay-by-play, which is accurate and speedy.

The controls are intuitive--even for people used to the Dreamcast--especially inthe area of on-the-fly play calling. You can now use the right analog stickinstead of the digital pad, so you don't have to take your thumb off the maincontrols (left analog stick) to call a new play or change formations. Othercontrols let you quickly and fluidly box out your opponent, spin, shoot, pass, fake, and dunk.

There are also eight street-ball courts, and this addition makes for almost anentirely new game. In this respect, it is the equal of the EA Sports NBA Liveseries. But NBA 2K2 surpasses EA's title with its excellent AI. This gameis challenging, satisfying, and fun in both single and multiplayer modes.--Bob Andrews

Pros:

  • Gorgeous graphics
  • Intuitive controls
  • Great AI

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst game ever
This is the worst game I have ever played in my life.

3-0 out of 5 stars Same as the first.
This game is almost exactly the same as the first. The gameplay is pretty cool, the graphics are great, and the create player mode is awesome. All together its a pretty cool game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Hoops game on ANY platform
I used to LOVE EA Sports's NBA Live series. But, EA started putting emphasis on Dunks and fancy animations, whereas Sega's NBA 2K series concentrated on the nuances of basketball.Whereas in NBA Live every other shot is a dunk (even on the top difficulty level), in this game you have to work for your points, and John Stockton is not going to dunk on Shaq (Something that I saw in Live 2002; I returned that game within a couple of days).
GRAPHICS: Very good. The faces and coaches could use some work, though.
ANIMATION: Superb. The spins, jukes and dunks are all very real.
CONTROL: Very good, with a bit of a learning curve. The new "deflect pass" option is the best innovation in years.
OVERALL: A solid "A".

3-0 out of 5 stars AN OK BUT DISAPOINTING GAME!!
i was really disapointed with sega in there developement of this game in the new generation of high speed graphics they could have done much better/ the players faces are high-def but need some work especially the Kings players
if you like basketball i would recomend this game it is fun especially season mode
the only thing im saying is that sega needs to either get it together or get back down to makin dreamcast ONLY games

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun
Maximo is a fun game. While the plot is cliched, this is not what the game is about. The combat is fun. You fight using a sword and can get armor to improve the amount of hits you can stand. The game can be hard, but it doesn't feel like it is throwing unfair challenges at you. The stages in the game are fun. I would like a larger variety of stages in Maximo than there is. Overall, it is a fun game.

1-0 out of 5 stars it sucks!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not fun
Learn by dying/failing, and when you fail you go all the way back to the beginning. That's a rather bad game design philosophy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
"Maximo" for the Sony PlayStation2 is a very fun, addictive, and strategic video game. The graphics are spectacular! And the fighting moves the character who you play as are way cool! I highly recommend that you buy this video game. It is one of the best PlayStation2 games ever!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, for about a week.
This is the sequel to one of my favorite Dreamcast games. There are new boxers featured and even some suprise celelbrity charecters such as Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Shaquille O'Neal. The graphics are nice and a little cartoony and the music is pretty standard. Voices in the game include Michale Buffer's "Let's Get Ready To Rumble" line and more standard voices ofr each charecter. The Arcade Mode is a fun knockout fest complete with ridiculous charecters and extremely realistic bungie cable physics. There's also tournament mode with training sessions which are little button tapping mini games that get kind of annoying but it's stil fun to build up your charecter and ot fight in scheduled matches. Multiplayer is great, only 2 people but its still quite a bit of fun. The game is a nice attempt for a sequel but it gets old really quick.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent boxing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worms - simple concept, yet surprisingly captivating
First, why did I give it four stars rather than five? Setting up multiplayer games with advanced options is a bit of an ordeal, but this is perhaps because there are just so many ways to configure a game. I owned (just about) the same game for the PC, and the use of a mouse just makes more sense in certain scenarios. Finally, as you increase the number of players in a game, each time gets less worms - a little frustrating if people gang up on you,

Now the good stuff - I like that this game is easy to learn yet hard to master. I speak with some authority, having spend most of my freshman year of college playing friends over the network. On the playstation, it keeps all of its good qualities, and just has the few caveats described above. The game combines cartoon physics with cartoon violence (think of a weapon that launches exploding cows and worms that do martial arts moves). Realistically, most games for a younger audience tend to need a little violence to sell, and this is perhaps the nicest way to give that necessary allure - mostly in that someone does not have exploding cows at their disposal. There are several factors in using the "weapons" in the game which make a player think creatively about physics - throwing a grenade against the wind, deciding how much force to launch a, ahem, cow with, etc. Overall the game provides countless hours of fun and humorous gameplay. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars WORMS is Great!
Pick it up, find a way to play it, or rent it. It grows on you, and has many possibilities. I love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars OMG..i luv this game
OK... Are you that guy with an older brother who always wins when it comes to video games.......or almost never wins on pro levels against the pc ???NO? well I am !but not anymore cuz this game takes a bit of brains!(which i have alot of) . i usually get bored playing whatever game i buy....BUT NOT THIS ONE!! this is a really cool game that you can play like all the time!! I am soo into it i have called in sick at work before simply cuz ...........well dah i was winning

5-0 out of 5 stars Worms - a great series, World Party - a good game
Ok, first of all Worms is an awesome series. The things that make Worms great are 1. strategy 2. strategy 3. stategy.

I honestly see a number of comparisons between Worms and golf. The player thinks through which club/weapon would be best to use given the cirumstances and conditions. What type of shot should be made? What angle is necessary to pull the shot off?Which direction is the wind blowing?

However, in addition the Worms player must think about defense.Should I burrow in here?If I transport there, will that leave me open to be killed during the next round?

This is a true thinking game, but it's so much fun to play.

No, you won't get killer graphics and fast paced action, but you will get a good challange and an awesome game to play against friends.

Now, onto this particular Worms game.World Party is very, very similar to Worms Armageddon. In fact, they are about the same game.If you don't have a Worms game, this is as good as any of the three to get. However, if you already have Armageddon, this game isn't going to offer much that's new.

4-0 out of 5 stars Computer is always the greatest
I would've give it a low 4, if I could. This game's graphics are no good at all, you can't see nothing clearly, I almost destroyed my eyes while I was making new teams. Surprisingly Worms Armaggedon has more weapons than this game, WA's sequel. While WA has 60 weapons this game has only 50 something. The graphics are the biggest minus of this game. The graphics aren't better than in WA and maybe even worse. The only good thing this game has and WA doesn't is the Wormpot. Wormpot is 3 special options for a match. There are damageX2, aquasheep, more powerful guns etc. The PC version of this game is one of the best games ever. I advise to buy the PC or Dreamcast version.
If you already have WA don't buy this game. UBI soft should've made this game for PS2 than it would've been awesome. The game itself is great, but graphics are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars FOOTBALL
Football must be the best sport ever. NFL Blitz brings Football out of its shell and makes it fun, funny, and perfect. Nfl blitz you can have late hits which you can body slam and butt slam too. It is awesome and is a must have for a football fan on GC.

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of my time
I'm going to be very terse with my review of this game. IT SUCKS!! Midway needs to find a new field, and I'm not playing find a new field. Maybe this could make me and others happy who dislike this item and used their good money for something that is more of use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Blitz there will ever be.
This Blitz was a huge turning point in the series. It offered next Gen Graphics and gameplay.Blitz 20-03 is the same game but terribly plauged. There is an interception for every pass made.I AM NOT KIDDING.So if you're gonna buy a Blitz game, make it 20-02.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Madden!
This is a great football game.Instead of having to play boring 11-on-10 football, this arcade style game brings a new twist: 8-on-8 football. Also, there are no penalties, making it fun to play. You can even jump on people after the play.Graphics and control are especially good.5 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE
This game is a must have it is so funny you can put in infinate turbo and faster running. when u return the ball you can zig zag all across the field and make a huge mob of defensive guys chasing you. It is awesome when you do a 2 man blitz with a friend with infinate turbo and faster running you can make soo many sacks it makes you want to cry with laughter. I recommend this game for all who like football. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This game sucks!!!
This game is way to hard! You dont get to fight at all.But there is this one part were this man will give you one of those things when you ask someone to shake your hand and they get shocked by the hand buzzer thats in your hand.Nobody shakes your hand when you ask them to on the game!!!It only works once on this man named Khan yhat wants to shake your hand before shooting you with his gun(He doesnt know you have a hand buzzer).Doent by this game!!!It really sucks!!!...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great adventure game. Great GBA game.Good Fun
Broken Sword is a standard "adventure" game (eg. myst) delivered to the GBA and they've done a fine job of it (with a few small exceptions).

As adventure games go this one is pretty straight forward and doesn't require a mensa membership to make significant progress. The bulk of the tasks in the game are not too hard to figure out, yet there are a few stumpers in there as well.

Gameplay is clear. You can move the main character around the current screen and either interact with other characters, manipulate objects, or go to other screens.

The GBA rendering is nice. There are some dialog scenes which are easy to speed through if you wish although you occasionaly get critical information via dialog. There is one scene in which having the sound turned up might provide some value.Towards the end of the adventure, gameplay is not just puzzles but also reacting quickly to events.

Some dislikes:
- The game is good in that you are stuck in an area until to you solve that local puzzle. There is a bug in the game in which you can go to Spain before Syria which will cause you to get stuck in a scene without enough artifacts to get yourself out.
- You can keep multiple games running but you have to go through some gyrations to copy games between the 3 memory areas.

This is a good game to play and will definitely keep you entertained. It is easy enough to keep you engaged but hard enough to make you work for it.

3-0 out of 5 stars i hate to rain on every1's parade but....
I didn't like this game as much as I thought I would. It was intresting enough but i beat it quickly with only a few problems(the thugs outside the hotel...and the hotel itself). Anyway it wasn't the worst i've played (if you've ever played mr.nuts you know what i mean). The graphics were great! I wasn't expecting that much on the graphic side. Anyways if you like games where you're fighting constantly then you won't like this game. Its nicely put together yet it wasn't as much fun as i thought. It requires a lot of thought; more than i wanted to put into it.

overall:
Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 7/10(no bugs:-) w/ little problems)
Fun:4/10
Storyline:9/10

in my opinion it was fair.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvolous, Magnificent, Superb!- and thats just for starters
This is one of the best games I've ever played, surely the best GBA game ever. You are "George Stobbard", an American vacationing in Paris when you wittnes a bomb go off in a cafe. The plot really picks up when you discover that ring of assasins are tied into this, and a whole bunch of other neat stuff like scrolls and ancient goblets come into the picture. It's like Indiana Jones meets Dick Tracy.

The background is gorgeous, all hand drawn, the commentary is funny and witty, (press "B" on objects, some comments can be really hilarious like on the seats in the church in Paris)The plot can be surprisingly tense, and suspenseful, esspecially when you discover you can die, so save often.

If you liked this game, I'd definately suggest the book "Saving the Queen" by William F. Buckley, its just as good, but our hero is with the CIA and deals with some good old fashioned "Cold War" stuff, instead of Knights of the round table.Even if you don't read much or dissagree with WFB's politics, PLEASE READ!!! You don't know what your missing.

5-0 out of 5 stars You should DEFINANTLY buy this
this game is my favorite one out of all the ones I own (15) it has a great sense of mystery adventure and a bit of humor.worth the price buy this item!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The best extreme-sports game ever gets even better in Tony Hawk's ProSkater 3. The elements that made the last two games a success are back:tight controls, deep trick system, a wide selection of skaters (including TonyHawk, Bucky Lasek, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Elissa Steamer, and others), and aslick soundtrack (featuring the Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motorhead,KRS-One, Redman, and more). Adding to the already brilliant formula is a new trick, updated graphics, and Internet play.

In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, players were introduced to the manual--amove that greatly revolutionized the series' gameplay. This installmentintroduces the revert, and while it isn't as significant an addition as themanual, it does add another layer to the already deep trick system. The gamefeatures solid graphics, but a level of detail was sacrificed in order to makethe game's levels so large. There are a few frame skips and polygon clips, butthese occasions are rare and do not overshadow the stellar gameplay.

Career mode is as deep as ever, with eight objective-filled levels. In thissingle-player mode, players traverse their way through some brilliantly designedcourses to achieve high scores, find the letters to the word "skate," findhidden videotapes, and interact with level-specific objects. Two players canparticipate in the five multiplayer minigames, which include king of the hill, horse, and trick attack. Up to four players can join Internet or LAN gamesthrough the use of the PS2 Network Adapter or numerous USB devices. SupportedUSB Ethernet adapters include LinkSys EtherFast USB100TX, D-Link DSB-650TX, SMCEZNET-USB 2102, and SOHOware NUB100. Supported USB modems include Zoom FaxModem2985L, Pocket NetSurfer NMT00700, MultiTech MT5634ZBA, and ActiontecUSB56012-01CW. USB keyboards are also supported, enabling players to type trash online.

We tested Internet play using the LinkSys and a DSL modem; the action was verysmooth with no noticeable lag. On its own, this is a top-shelf title, butconsidering its Internet capabilities, there's no reason for fans of sports, action, and platform games not to own Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. This gamewill satisfy them all. --Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • First Internet-capable PS2 game
  • Tight, addictive, outstanding gameplay
  • Gargantuan levels and plenty of objects to interact with
Cons:
  • Some minor graphics glitches

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love this game!
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is my favorite PS2 game currently in my posession. The graphics are great!

I also have the cheat codes, if anyone wants to defy all moral reason and use them. To unlock all sorts of neat players(Like The Demoness, the Neversoft Eyeball, Kelly Slater, and many more) type in "yohomies".

For those of you who have played THPS3 already, and gotten as far as or farther than Los Angeles, if you use The Demoness, you can temporarily shrink people in the game. When they jump out of your way as you skate by them, turn around and stare at them. Poof!

Another cheat is for everything. Simply enter in "backdoor" and you will have access to Perfect Rail,(You can't fall off when you grind) First Person Mode, and tons of other amazing features that make the game a little more fun and easier, so you can concentrate on making the goals. (You pause while skating and select Cheats to toggle them on and off.)

This is a wonderful game that will provide hours upon hours of enjoyable entertainment. It is certainly worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellentness
Pros
<Can play over and over again until the skin peels off your little fingers
<Unlike THUG (Tony Hawks UnderGround), this game is about skating (Tony Hawks PRO SKATER! Not Tony Hawks get off your skateboard and throw fireballs at each other)
Cons
<Some tricks take a flick of the hand to do and others you probably need an extra hand to do
<GLITCHES!!!!GLITCHES!!!! MORE OF THIS GAME IS GLITCHES THAN HALFPIPES!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Game You'll Ever Get ( for $12.95)
If you dont have this game, buy it. Its $13 dollars, and plus, like, ok, you get to play in alot of levels like a cruise ship. Many places to grind and stuff, and plus, there is a level where you can play on the "street" called Los Angelas. I had this game for like 3 years and its good. its DEFINATLEY worth $13.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its not as good as the new ones
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is not fun after you have played Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4, Tony Hawks Underground or Tony Hawks Underground 2 because in the new ones your not timed untill you pick a goal. In Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 you timed from the begining and you have to do something in about 3 minutes. Unless you love Tony Hawk games dont buy this. Save your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars great
great game this game rocks but if you look at the rating and you dont like get it at blockbosters first

4-0 out of 5 stars Very realistic
Great game. The graphics and gameplay are amazing.I would like to be able to adjust the damage so that multiplayer matches would last longer or to handicap better players, to make for more exciting matches. The control setup seems a little awkward in comparison to other fighting and wrestling games, but they're relatively simple, and can be mastered quickly.Overall this is an outstanding game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game.
If you like UFC buy it. If you want a good fighting game buy it. If you don't know what to buy, but it. It rocks but it is too easy, I unlocked all 7 hidden characters in a few hours.

5-0 out of 5 stars watched it,played it,loved it !
this game really makes you feel like you're dealing with the real thing, the fighters are true to their real-life counterparts in terms of moves, styles and appearences.definitly a game to own!

3-0 out of 5 stars Fast and steep learning curve
It's a good game, specially if you play it with a friend, but the move list doesn't say what are you doing. For example, it tells you that standing up when moving forward you can press X and Y, or A and B, or B and Y, or X and A, or A, or B, or X, or Y, and so on, but it doesn't tell you what each keystroke does. You have to experiment a lot and start to figure it out and it takes time because it doesn't respond exactly the same, specially if your opponent is making his/her own moves.

The level of gore doesn't do a lot, just add some blood drops on the matt on its max level, but that's it.

The fights can be very very fast, specially if you and your opponent don't know exactly what moves are doing, and that will happen because you won't know wich combination of buttons to press in each situation you'll encounter. You will probably end up pressing a couple of combinations for every match and that's it, or maybe connect the other control and play against your self to try to figure out what does what and how each character respond to what you have found.

I really recommend that you find yourself a guide or something if you're planning to buy this title. Or rent it beforehand.

All that said, it's a fun game. ... Read more
