Amazon.com Review Instead of using a skateboard to race against the clock and perform dangerousmidair stunts for points and prestige, this game is all about daredevil BMX bikeriding, so that players can aim to pull off a "Superman," "Icepick," "Tailwhip,"or "Toothpick." In total, there are over a dozen unique environments, such asCamp Woodward's backbreaking "Lot 8" or the San Jose Ramp Club, to name two. First, players must select their rider of choice, be it repeated World Championbiker Dave Mirra, 1999 Dirt Circuit Champion Ryan Nyquist, or eight other starsof the sport. Each of the riders enjoys his own signature moves, plus even moreriders can be unlocked over time. However, there is no create-a-player feature,as there is with a few other games of this kind. Fortunately, controlling the rider is a cinch to learn for younger or novicegamers, and there's enough substance here to keep players pedaling long afterthe goals are met. In fact, along with the "Free Ride" mode, the timed "Session"mode, and the challenging, career-based "Proquest" mode, there are 10 differenttwo-player games, including our favorite, dubbed "B-M-X", in which the secondplayer has to mimic the first rider's moves (remember basketball's H-O-R-S-Evariant?). Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX's visuals are only satisfactory, with nothingreally to kick heels about. The 3-D engine brings a few annoying screen"pop-ups" (objects and backgrounds awkwardly disappear on occasion, as ridersmove in relation to the "camera") and "clipping" problems (in which the ridergets stuck mysteriously) that probably could've been ironed out with a few moreweeks in development. And, while the midair stunts and crashes look painfullyreal, the game also seems to lack a convincing sensation of speed. But, even with its shortcomings, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is a rad BMXarcade sim that proves that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, whilestill the king, is not the only game in town. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (39)

There is none of the flow of rugby in this game whatsoever.I purchased the game, in part because I was excited about this fall's world cup, but I was utterly disappointed. The rucks move at a snail's pace, and the breaks in the game to call lineouts and backline plays are neverending. Not only that, but set plays can only be called from a scrum, not in the loose as is done in real life. There is little control as to what happens in the rucks, and the things you can do seem to have no impact on the game other than the occasional penalty. The speed of the game is pathetic, and the graphics look as though they were produced three years ago. If you have never played rugby before, don't get this game.It will bore you and make you never want to watch or play ther real thing. If you have played rugby before, don't get this game.It will frustrate you and make you want to put a ball through your television monitor. It seems like EA sports got the licensing rights but spent their entire budget doing so, leaving no resources to develop the game itself.OH, MY!This game is absolutely and utterly HORRENDOUS... This game is so bad I feel sorry for anyone who has already bought it. I have already given it on a keep-it-as-long-as-you-like-it loanto a friend of mine, and to be honest I hope I never see it again. That is how bad this game is.DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SPEND YOUR MONEY ON SOMETHING ELSE...I would suggest Winning Eleven 6, especially if you like soccer--now that is a game worth playing. ... It doesn't save nearly as much data as most memory cards. Just recently, Nintendo released the Gamecube Memory Card 251, which costs a little more, but is a considerably better value due to the fact that it saves over four times as much data. Get one of those instead. Don't get a 59 unless you can find it for a VERY low price.
Reliability Rating: 5 Stars But since the Memory Card 59 only slightly cheaper than Nintendo's now availiable Memory Card 251, I would highly encourage you to pick up the 251 instead. You will not be dissapointed. ... Read more

2. Any CPU point guard with a 3-point icon will be the leading scorer for the CPU team, draining threes with people in his face every time, against set defenses. If you play the Lakers, for example, Shaq won't miss, but will only end up with 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting, while Derek Fisher will end up with 33 on 11-for-20 three-point shooting. 3. If you have a lead in the last minute, the CPU will hit every three-pointer anyone but the worst shooter puts up, and will steal the ball from you most times, but, oddly, will not intentionally foul. 4. Nobody gets open on the inbounds plays, and half of your team will be off-screen. 5. No good player will resign with your franchise after a season if their contract is up, even if you win it all. They will, however, settle for a one-year contract for minimum pay with a crappy team. All the superstars end up with such contracts, but you do not have the option to negotiate prices and cannot sign superstars, who demand full price from you. 6. Most rookies the game generates will be given a sub-par field-goal shooting ability, but an above-average three-point shooting ability. In other words, can't hit from 15 feet, but can hit from 25. There are other problems that make you think the development team was on crack when they made it, but, as one of the great mysteries of the universe, this game is still very fun and addictive to play. Why, God, why?

Amazon.com Review DOA3 offers eight modes of play, including story, team battle, tagbattle, and sparring. Sparring mode is customizable and is a nice way for newplayers to learn how to play the game, while story mode lets you take one of the16 available characters through a series of matches culminating in a fightagainst the über-powerful Omega. Once you defeat Omega, a short moviespecific to your character is unlocked. The story mode doesn't make a lot ofsense (and the dialogue is laughable) but the end movies are pretty cool, andit's fun playing through the game as each of the characters. The real meat of the game, though, is its combat, and DOA3 delivers inspades. Each character has specific attacks, such as Zack's Devil Elbow or BassArmstrong's Stun Gun Chop, and once you get the moves down, the entire affaircan unfold like a carefully choreographed ballet as combatants block blows, counterattack, and land devastating punch and kick combos. Adding to the game'sappeal are the massive and detailed multilevel arenas (introduced inDOA2), in which a precise kick or punch can send a combatant plummetingthrough the air down to the arena's next level. It's obvious that DOA3 was designed as a showcase for the Xbox'sgraphical prowess, and it shows--the game's graphics are awesome. The charactermodels look amazing and feature highly detailed clothing and accessories, andthe animations are extremely smooth. The environments are also outstanding, andfeature tons of little touches such as fluttering leaves, snow-covered groundthat can be torn up during the course of a fight, and great-looking water. Eventhe background structures are highly detailed. DOA3 doesn't rewrite the rules of the fighting genre, but its greatgraphics and intense fighting--especially in multiplayer mode--make for anenjoyable gaming experience. --William Harms Pros: Features Reviews (207)

Amazon.com Review It must be stated that these games, while they have been improved, areessentially the same as they were earlier, with these exceptions: names ofpeople and places have been altered--which will disappoint only those who haveplayed the originals--and the graphics are more detailed than before. The differences between the two titles play almost like a history lesson inRPGs. In the first game, players travel as a single character who's set torescue a princess and slay a dragon. In the second game, players manage a partyof four heroes, each of whom has his or her own unique talents in magic orweaponry (or both). The game pits them against multiple enemies at a time, asopposed to a single foe. Also, the addition of a save-anytime feature eliminatesneedless retread. Overall, Dragon Warrior I & II is a great value, and perfect foranyone who's interested in taking a trip, whether it be cross-country or downmemory lane. --Robb Guido Pros: Reviews (33)
PROS: CONS: OVERALL:
DRAGON WARRIOR I: Even though this game was short, it was difficult for me. As i've said, i've never played Dragon Warrior before, so it was new to me. You are the descendant of the dead and legendary hero, Loto (formerly known as Erdrick back on the the original Dragon Warrior for the NES). You as one person, set out on a quest to rescue Lady Lora, daughter of King Lars XVI of Alefgard and defeat the evil Dracolord. In this game, there are several towns were there are inns, weapons and armory shops. You will of course need to equip some weapons ad armory to become more powerful. During the course of the game, you will also get the chance of equiping more powerful equipment. You are also supposed to find two things in this game, the rainstaff and the sunstone. Once you obtain the Loto Seal, go to a shrine south of the town of Rimulbar, talk to the elderly man and he will give you a rainbow drop. You then use the rainbow drop to form a bridge to get to Dracolord's castle. You must be above level 20 to defeat Dracolord's two forms, one as a human like creature, and the other as a monster. It was easy for me. This game alone, i give it 5 stars and above. DRAGON WARRIOR II:Can't say much about this game becuase i'm in the middle of it. This game is way harder than its predecessor. In this game, you the Prince of Lorasia must find the Princess of Moonbrook and the Prince of Cannock and defeat Hargon. The storyline in this game takes place 100 years after Dragon Warrior I. You get to make up a name for you the Prince of Lorasia, but the computer makes up the names for the Prince of Cannock and the Princess of Moonbrook. I can't rate this game as of yet, so you all will have to wait until i beat it. Then i will give you more info on Dragon Warrior II. Now let me bring to your attention the other Dragon Warrior games. I hear Dragon Warrior III for the GBC is the best of the entire legend of Loto series. I hope to get it for my birthday. I have never played with Dragon Warrior IV on the NES, so i don't know anything about it. What's stupid is the idea of Enix not thinking of releasing Dragon Warrior V and Dragon Warrior VI in the United States. I think Enix should release both of them for either the GBA,GCN, and the Playstation 2. That's crazy. Also they should re-release Dragon Warrior IV for the advance. I could tell from these reviews that sales for the previous Dragon Warrior games were successful SO I HOPE ENIX RE-RELEASES DRAGON WARRIOR IV FOR THE GBA. Also, Enix should re-release Dragon Warrior VII for the GCN. Right now, the GCN doesn't have that many good games and not that many RPG's, so the GCN does need a Dragon Warrior game. One final thing. I hear SquareEnix (Square, the company that makes Final Fantasy and Enix have now merged into SquareEnix) i going to release Dragon Warrior VIII for the Playstation 2 sometime in 2004. I HOPE THEY ALSO RELEASE IT FOR THE GCN.Thank you for your attention and so long.
"Dragon Warrior I" is the story about a lone warrior whom must save a kidnapped Princess from a gang of monsters. "Dragon Warrior II" on the other hand tells about a group of heros and their quest to stop a different kind of foe.(I'm not too sure about this one quite yet.) The first is probably the most TOUGHEST of all, while the rest in the series is a bit easier. "Dragon Warrior III" is the best remake of them all yet! But even the old Nes version of "Dragon Warrior IV" is pretty good. "Dragon Warrior: Monsters" is a bit kiddy' like, but still a nice addition. Kinda' reminds me of Pokemon only better!! Here's a small rating for each one: DRAGON WARRIOR I ****(4-stars. Fun gameplay and the option to go anywhere you choose is a good challenge.) DRAGON WARRIOR II *****(5-stars. Better than the original since you get four characters altogether to help. Not too familiar with the story yet). DRAGON WARRIOR III *****(5-stars. A very, VERY cool opening sequence for this one. Especially at the battle against the Dragon. The option to choose characters is awesome! Better than I and II!! DRAGON WARRIOR IV ***(3-stars. Fair gameplay but the movement is VERY poor. It's a cool change that you play as different people in different stories. Battle system can use some improvement though.) DRAGON WARRIOR V ***(3-stars. It's alright, but the graphics went a bit downhill here. Much different than the others in the series but good.). DRAGON WARRIOR VI ****(4-stars. Improved graphics and a worthy sequel. The characters are much, MUCH better than those from part 5.). DRAGON WARRIOR VII (N/A I haven't played this one yet.) OVERALL: An excellent series altogether!!!

Anyhow, the game is definitly loaded with features (most of which are already explained by other reviews) but the one thing I wanted to emphasize is that this game actually helped better my game play tremendously!
For those who are saavy about chess programs, yes, I admit that Fritz is the second-strongest program ... Shredder 8 (also a Chessbase product) is definitely stronger than Fritz, but if you aren't Gary Kasparov, who knows the difference?Besides, in my view Shredder suffers from several defects ... its principal variation (PV) in analysis can be complete rubbish (ie: hanging a queen for no compensation), although it's first move of the PV is always first-rate.Also, Shredder's playing style is "dryer" and more technical (e.g. boring) than Fritz. If you want a tip-top program that plays like a boring machine, grinding out wins, then get Shredder. If you want a program that will come at you like a doberman, then get Junior, Hiarcs or Chess Tiger. But if you want the best of both of these worlds, then get Fritz! Hey, let's face it ... unless you are a Grandmaster, any of the top programs I named, on their top level, will tear you to tiny little pieces every time, especially when you're playing blitz. However, Fritz has many modes (like Friend, Sparring and "personalities") that can lead it to playing like you! There are dozens of ways to change or "dummy down" Fritz's play, and you can have fun with all of them. You can also use Fritz's GUI to play the many FREE winboard or UCI engines freely available on the Internet (I have about 3 dozen, but many more are available). So, it's like having a whole chess club at your disposal, and you can even have the various engines and personalities play each other in matches or tournaments, or help you play against Fritz.(I don't know about you, but I need help against the silicon beasts.) One observation ... which program does Gary Kasparov (and other top players like Anand, Kramnik, Leko, etc) use and analyze with?Fritz.Did Chessmaster get a match with Gary Kasparov or Vladimir Kramnik?Nope ... only Fritz and Junior did.If Kasparov says Fritz analyzes the best, that's good enough for me! Fritz's database is also very useful and it's GUI and many features are top-notch.Also, if you are a serious chess player and want to get the top chess database program, Chessbase, then Fritz will fit in seamlessly. How can you go wrong, especially at this discounted price?(Don't hold your breath looking for a discount at Chessbase...ha, ha.) So the bottom line?Fritz is #1.Get it from Amazon!I did, and don't regret it a bit. ... Read more

Another cool part is you can choose which side to fight on: the good side (GDI) or the bad side (NOD).Every mission is complex, puzzling, and can be won many different ways. Overall, this is a great game and a great buy.
