4-0 out of 5 stars Multiplayer is a MUST
This was the first game I bought for my Gamecube. For the most part it was a solid game in Multiplayer mode and a boring game in Single Player. Lets break down some of the aspects to this game.

Multiplayer Play: 5/5. Cant get much better then this. Its fun the sit around the TV with 2 or 3 of your friends and play this game. Its always a race for the treasure or a race for the food item. Multiplayer play wise this game is almost the best out there.

Single Player Play: 2/5. I tried it but it just isnt the same. There is no build up of emotions to get to the chests and theres no teamwork to take down the boss. Its not as fun with only one person I'd stay away from this if your going to play it by yourself.

Characters: 5/5. there are 6 characters to begin the game with and about 10 unlockables that you can unlock throughout your adventures. Plently of great charcaters from a Jester, to a wizard, to a Amazon, etc. Wonderful Selection.

Length- 4/5. Its about an 8-10 hour game not cheating or using any guides. Its certainly worth the $20.00 MAX you would put out to buy it.

In conclusion this game is 100% worth it for Multiplayer action and not worth it for single player action. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The force is truly with Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. Thisfirst-person space shooter will appeal to fans of the genre, and will especiallyexcite any Star Wars buffs: there's a lot of material in this game thatcovers the period between Episode I and Episode II.

The time prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode II is a chaotic one.Pressure between the Republic and Count Dooku is building, and the Count has aplan that will give him the upper hand. He's made a deal with Captain Toth ofthe Trade Federation, who intends to take over the resource-abundant Karthakksystem. He has met almost no resistance, except for the alien smuggler Nym.

Aware that the Karthakk system must not fall into Dooku's hands, Mace Windudispatches his former student Adi Gallia (now a Jedi Master) to the system in anexperimental force-powered starfighter. She joins forces with Nym, and togetherthey just might have a chance at stopping Captain Toth.

Jedi Starfighter has 15 story-driven levels and an in-depth tutorial. Inall, the game provides over 20 missions, mostly protecting or escorting targetsand blowing up droids and other minions of the future Empire. The action takesplace in space, as well as in the sky over various planets. You can play aseither Adi or Nym, and you can also play the entire game in two-player split-screen cooperative mode. The Xbox version has an exclusive head-to-head scenariocalled Coruscant Territory Capture--think Star Wars meets Capture theFlag.

The two main ships you fly are Adi's Jedi starfighter (the same ship piloted byObi Wan in Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones) and Nym's strikebomber. Adi's ship is fast and light with four force powers (force field, forcelightening, force reflex, and force shock wave). Nym's ship has heavier armor inaddition to energy bombs, cruise missiles, proximity mines, and clustermissiles. The cockpit is set up similarly in both ships, so it's easy to switchbetween them.

This game is good, but there are a few weak points. The voice dialogue, whilewell-scripted, never shuts up and may drive you batty. The AI is downright dumbearly in the game: for example, you can blast away at an enemy troop carrier, and it keeps going on its merry way until it's destroyed (the drones aresomewhat trickier, but soon become predictable). The AI does improve later on,but some may not feel challenged even then. Lastly, the button placement on thealready cumbersome Xbox controller is difficult--the zoom button is right nextto the shoot button, making it pretty much impossible to do both at the sametime.

Bottom line: Star Wars Jedi Starfighter is a fun spaceshooter--especially for two-player gaming--that shows off your Xbox. --BryanKarsh

Pros:

  • Good training missions
  • Two-player cooperative and combative modes
  • Sharper, smoother graphics than PS2 version
Cons:
  • Too much dialogue
  • Difficult button placement
  • Dumb AI

4-0 out of 5 stars worth bying
Its a great game. It really is. And the nice thing if you beat the game and get tired of the missions you can play them again with bonus craft or with a friend. You could also play bonus missions or chalenge somebody in a game or duel. If you like this game you should also try "starwars starfighter."

P.S. When you play two player the person playing with you will side with you and also have a different craft. On some levels you can even get crafts that you couldn't get even as a bonus craft. So here's my suggestoin to you. Get your little sister or cousin to play with you and take the cool car.

3-0 out of 5 stars Innovative and Fun At First, Tiresome After a Couple Hours
It's always been extremely "hit-or-miss" with LucasArts Entertainment's long running series of games based off of the Star Wars universe. On one hand, they've brought to life several extremely successful arcade-style flight simulators, but on the other they've stumbled and bumbled their way through countless platformers and shoot-em-ups. In more recent years, even their greatest strength, the flight sims, have taken a nosedive with poor showings on the PSX, N64, PS2, GameCube and Xbox. So when I finally sat down to have a go at this one, it was with a fleeting hope to see more of what once was and less of what's most recently been. I remember when things were good, and it's very hard to forget when they were bad.

The basic premise of this one is quite simple; you alternate playing the roles of Adi Gallia, a young Jedi Master and Nym, a typical gung-ho, brightly colored alien pirate, as they battle to save the republic from the looming threat of the Trade Federation. Both fly easily recognizable ships, and each come fully equipped with their own set of unique special weapons and secondary firepower. While Adi can use the force to aid her in the battle by slowing down time, reinforcing shields or striking enemy ships with force lightning, Nym's vehicle carries a heavy load of blunt firepower. Adi's ship is faster and more maneuverable, but Nym's packs a much stronger punch.

The entirety of the controls themselves are very easy to learn and deceptively simple to master. It's nowhere near as complex and customizable as the keyboard-based system introduced by X-Wing and Tie Fighter, but it still accomplishes many of the same tasks without the necessity of another sixty buttons. The left analog stick controls the direction of your ship, and the right analog handles the roll, which is more of a luxury feature than anything else. In space you won't need to put this to use at all, except perhaps to dodge enemy fire, but when you're battling near the surface of a planet it's easy to get disoriented by your surroundings if everything isn't level. The left and right triggers handle the speed of your craft, with the left your brake and the right your speed boost. I miss the ability to set my thrust to 40% or 60%, or to match the speed of my target and ride his tail until he's dead, but the lack of so many confusing buttons here is a trade-off I can live with.

The story, unfortunately, isn't nearly as inventive nor as easy to follow as the weapons or control systems. What story there is shoots by at such a blazing pace, it's nearly impossible to comprehend what's just happened before you're right in the thick of another fight. At one point, I didn't understand that I was dogfighting with Jango Fett himself until the second or third time he killed me. Efforts were made to tie this title in with the events going on during Episode II, but you could blink and miss the connections. Samuel L. Jackson's character, Mace Windu, is directly involved with everything you do, but it's hard to tell when that's his voice you're hearing over the comm-link, because the voice actor they cast for his role sounds NOTHING like his movie counterpart.

Another thing that bothered me about the way this game played was its straightforward series of goals. While one of the coolest things about Tie Fighter was its variety, Jedi Starfighter puts you in a new location, shakes up your odds a little bit, and tells you to do one of two things; protect something or kill something. Gone are the reconnaissance missions that made the pace of the PC flight sims so strong. You'll never be asked to retreat from a battle after holding off enemy fighters long enough for backup to arrive. It's kill or be killed, every single time.

While the gameplay itself is quite realistic in appearance, with tightly-rendered ships, daunting scale and believable obstacles such as asteroids and hidden enemy bases on small moons, the characters in the important scenes are flamboyantly cartoony and unrealistic. The regal, pompous air exuded by the tall, green members of the Trade Federation in Episode I is rendered null and void when they flail their arms around, swivel their hips or throw their heads around in strange ways during casual dialog. It seems like the animators grew bored with what they were being asked to render and overcompensated on the body language.

The audio, to its credit, is very well done from start to finish. Though the voice acting is pretty much universally terrible, the sound effects and music more than make up for it and then some. Laser fire is easy to trace, each different ship sounds crisp and distinct, and the original John Williams score works every bit as well here as it does on screen.

This is a title that had all the elements of a great game, in the same vein as its vaunted predecessors. It was overflowing with ingenuity, featuring unique new elements that made even the harshest battles exciting and entertaining, an enormous stage upon which to play, a steadily rising level of difficulty and several well-developed unlockable features. The gameplay is most certainly spot-on but the story, mood and motivations have got it all wrong. It's hard to get into a game like this, no matter how original the weaponry, if the story feels like an afterthought and each stage is just a new skin wrapped around the same old set of goals. Extra features help add a little spice to it, but on the large it's a perfect example of what could have been. I wish they'd taken another couple months on this, finished it properly and concentrated more on adding some peaks and valleys to the missions themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars one of the worst games I have ever played
This game was terrible my dog can make a more fun game than this. It's not worth looking at. I look wide eyed when people buy it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not my idea of a spacebattle game
Being an avid fan of Star Fox from Nintendo 64, I was hoping to find something similar on xbox. The only similarity Jedi Starfighter offers is the incessant whining and stupid chatter you get on the radio from your annoying allies. They make you want to desert and join the enemy.
Besides that, this game is nothing but aim and shoot. That's it. In Star Fox you had to learn trick flying so you could fly between buildings and under bridges, maneuver around obstacles and outfox your attackers. You were looping and dodging the whole time while you shot at bogies, like an old-fashioned fighter plane dogfight.
In Jedi Starfighter you don't even get the feeling your ship is in motion. It's like you're almost stationary, turning around in circles looking for stuff to shoot at, which to me gets really boring in a short amount of time. Reminds me of 1980's technology.
Lame, lame, lame.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring.
Average graphics, slow gameplay, insanely shallow dialogue, and cheesy music. Need I say more? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shenmue II is an instant CLASSIC..
One of the Greatest Dreamcast games ever made is finally making it's second appearance...ON THE MICROSOFT XBOX.Shenmue II not only out does the first one in every way but surprasses it even more, this game is unbelievable. It is handsdown, my favorite Xbox game ever...EVER.The story continues with Ryu Hazuki on the journey to find his fathers murderer and to meet a man who may know alot of things about his father then he'd imagine. Now the game takes place in Hong Kong, and Ryu is still on the hunt....get ready because not only are playing one of the best sequals to a game ever..but you'll be having one of the greatest video game experiences....ever..

Shenmues Graphics are just amazing, As you've already notice I'm not going to give it a negative on visuals since it's not fair because this is a DIRECT PORT from Dreamcast....Those idiots like IGN and gamemagazines should of known this is a direct port and that the visuals were going to be bumped up, hell it would take poor suzukie EVEN MORE YEARS to make the visuals amazing....but who cares cause this game is still AMAZING.The sound/music is just as beautiful as the original Shenmue, sometimes I'd just stand at one area and listen to the music..it's just so brilliant..The level desighn for Hong Kong/Kowloo is just incredible, especially one the final chapter of the game, which I won't spoil.Something I like Shenmue II more then Shenmue I is that Shenmue II is just one of those flat out "Sequals that didn't fail one bit" as I can see alot of people love this game but are dissapointed compared to the original...I'm not one bit, Something that Shenmue I had that made me fall in love with the game was the FREE BATTLES and QTE'S....Theres even WAY MORE of those in Shenmue II, and they've never looked so good on the Xbox.Other then the sequal having more action then it's predecessor, something that I loved about Shenmue is that it got you all pumped up all the way to the grand finale...THIS DOESN'T FAIL AT ALL.Especially the Yellow Head Building part, which is by far one of the greatest moments in Video game history..Everything about Shenmue II on Xbox is amazing....It's just so Brilliant!!!!!

Now for anyone who hated Shenmues Slow paced gameplay DO NOT GET THIS GAME, Shenmue II is just the same(but a lil better) as it's predecessor. It will take awhile to get to the action....More like when you're at the end of the first chapter which by the far longest in this game..Did I mention this has a very good Length..If you skip all the sidequests and just beat the story for the first thenmue, it would take about maybe...10 to 14 hours...It took me about 13 hours and 45 minutes.. Shenmue II takes about 20 to 30 hours of just playing the story mode of it and skipping some side quests....It's just bigger, better and longer...

The Good
-Superb Visuals and got a bit bumped up on the Xbox
-longer then the original
-the voice acting got a tad bit better but not by much
-Theres more character development and we finally know what SHENMUE means!!
-An amazing scenarion that has to do with the Yellow Head Building and LAN DI!!
-More FREE BATTLES and QTE'S
-More clues to find and people to ask, for me it was fun
-The Music is beautiful
-IT'S Just better then the original...that's all I can say about that....

The Bad
-The controls are TERRIBLE, I had to adjust em' before playing the game
-It got a lot of bad review on lots of sites about it's visuals...they should have known it's a straight port from the Dreamcast
-Just like the Dreamcast...Poor Sales for Shenmue II means NO Shenmue III in the future
-Some like myself were left wanting more after Shenmue II's Ending...amazing though..

Shenmue II on the Xbox is one of the best games ever made, and one of the most overlooked xbox title ever..period..Just like every other Sega Game on Xbox...Please if you liked the original you will LOVE Shenmue II, it's just better, longer, better looking, more action, MORE EVERYTHING!!Why the perfect score?..Because on like most of the idiots who gave it abad score cause of Visuals, I'm being mature about it, so what if it's a direct port from DC, The visuals are still amazing even if it's no Doom 3 or Ninja Gaiden....Other then that, Shenmue II is just a beautiful game and that is why I give it a.......

5 out of 5 stars...

Brilliant game....

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't wait any more I going crazy
For you guys who haven't played Shenmue 2 yet it is a great game there are few games that will take you for a ride like this one. I'm sure everyone who has beaten this game knows the feeling I'm taking about. I could tell at the end that the game it was about to end and I hoped and prayed that this game would go on forever. I read on the internet that there are 16 chapters to Shenmue. The 1st one for DC was the first chapter, part two is chapters 3-5. chapter 2 took place on the boat ride to hong kong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grat game, overall.
Never played the first Shenmue. Bought this game because i finally beat Morrowind. This game is great. Many things to do, many interations, and a lot of freedom. The only negatives I found in this game were the vastly inferior graphics, and the lack of any sort of actual ending. Otherwise it's fun game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Shenmue 3 soon?
Hey guys. It's been over a year now since Shenmue 2 was released and I'm sick of waiting for another sequel. I can't wait any longer. We need some sort of an update on when the game will be comeing out so we have something to look forward to, I don't care if I have to wait I just want to know when the game comes out. Also if you haven't tried Shenmue than I would highly recommend this video game. It is one of my favorite video games that I have ever played and it just gives off so much real life freedom. Theres more frequent fight scenes and QTE scenes than the first that makes this game the total package! Ryo Hazuki explores 3 new places Hong Kong, Kowloon, and Guilen. Anyways if you haven't boughten this game yet, than you should right now! Believe me you wont be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars best game alltime
i agree like others shenmue 1 and 2 are among the greatest games alltime great story amazing graphics and mix of movie like cinemas with a deep easy fighting engine in shenmue youre looking for the man who killed your father youll travel around asking questions fighting buying grocerys even working all to help you on your ultimate goal in shenmue 2 u arrive in hongkong to keep on the trail of the man who killed your father theres so many cool things you can do in this game buy diffrent cassetes to play even play old 80s games in an arcade inside the game that has all segas arcade games they had in 1987 the year this games based in this game time matters and it goes from day to night seasons change and youll interact with hundreds of people and do hundreds of mini tasks as u look for your fathers killer when u fight its like an action movie only it controls perfect and its deep fighting u have over 50 moves buy this game while they still make new copies its got a cult following for a reason the game teaches u to exhaust all options before fighting respect the ederly feed the hungry and animals its a really cool smart game the ending is amazing and cost 5 million just to make the final scene theres no other game like it youll become addicted to the minigames and shed a few tears over the games artistic beauty i kid u not we are all waiting on yu suzuki to announce a third and final shenmue ... Amazon.com Review

To say that Shenmue is an anticipated title is an understatement;the game made huge waves in Japan upon its release, and American gamers havebeen waiting since then to see what the fuss is all about. It's a game in whichthe concept itself is the selling point. What if you could portray a young heroin a fully realized Japanese city? Would you like to participate in andinfluence an over-the-top kung fu-style action-mystery flick in your livingroom? What if lots of combat, cinematic flourish, detail, and a dash of romancewere thrown in?

The game itself is awash in small details, crammed into a confined space. Thecity of Yokusuka circa 1986 is rendered beautifully in a short series ofneighborhoods that are long on detail even if short on variety. The story itselfis ripped straight from a chopsocky flick: you portray the young hero RyoHazuki, whose father (a kung fu sensei, naturally) is killed before hisvery eyes by a mysterious and frightening villain. Ryo must uncover the identityof the killer and fight his way through the city in an effort to avenge thiswrongful death.

Shenmue's Yokusuka might be short on space--in total, it represents maybea square mile--but the detail is overwhelming. You can interact with nearlyevery person or object that you see; 300 citizens go about their daily routines, and whom you encounter is as much determined by where you are as when you arethere.

Much of this interaction involves combat that ranges fromDragon's Lair-style reaction tests (such as timing a button press tododge an oncoming car) to freeform kung fu fighting. Further, each second ofreal time equals about a minute of game time, and Ryo has to be home by 11 p.m.each evening. The game moves at a brisk pace, and each challenge or battle feelslike a race against time. Some might say that gaming doesn't get shallower thanthis (you are essentially performing tasks and exploring, instead of gaming),but the game feels like no other and is ultimately satisfying by the time thatit all ends. In this way, Shenmue is more than a game--it's an eventthat's worth experiencing. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Compelling, well-told story
  • Good action and combat
  • Fantastic sound and graphics
Cons:
  • Plot is familiar to fans of kung fu action films
  • Task-and-exploration gameplay might seem slow to action gamers

4-0 out of 5 stars The realistic sphere of emotion and time
Shenmue is a graphic adventure game from 2000 exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast. The setting is Japan in 1986.You're placed in the role of Ryo Hazuki, an 18-year-old student and martial arts disciple on a winding, multi-faceted quest to uncover the mystery behind his father's murder.Along the way you'll traverse myriad locations and interact with countless non-player characters, as well as engage in side interests and attend to personal issues.

The progression of gameplay is quite open and arbitrary. There is no particular pace you have to keep in playing; you can sprint through the entirety of it, or you can devour days and days roaming around, engaging in the oddities, practicing martial arts, chatting with passersby, playing mini-games or whatever else. The hands on the clock tick away in real time in Ryo's world. The date and time of day--morning, afternoon and evening--is presented in convincing fashion by the game, and is reflected in the towns and villages and industrial areas you'll be visiting. The streets may be thronged with pedestrian traffic during mid-day, shoppers and businessmen, families and children. But after nightfall things change. After the streetlights flicker into life, the locales take on an aura of eerie stillness as the crowds thin and--in the urban and industrial areas--are replaced by members of the seedy nightlife, while in the residential districts they begin to bob their collective heads towards sleep. Many, although not all, businesses, shops and residences are open and interactive for you to explore. Time of day comes into effect here, for certain businesses and shops are only open during particular hours of the day or night. In addition to the realistic sphere of passing time, there are varying weather effects in place as well: sun, rain, and even snow as the calendar edges into the winter months.

Your home is the Hazuki Dojo in Yokosuka.Ryo's mother and father, his last living relatives, are now both gone. You live there with a former student of Ryo's father, Fuku-san, and the elderly housekeeper, Ine-san.Ine-san is a grandmotherly figure who'll fret and worry about Ryo's safety, imploring him to be careful and to let the past go.Yet she's soft spoken and demure, almost resolved to the situation. Each evening Ryo must be home by 11PM, and when he's late Ine-san seems almost hurt by it.It creates a true sense of obligation, of emotion, of connection to the characters and situation.Shenmue excels at creating a sense of strong emotional ties between the player and the characters, as evidenced by the potent flashbacks of Ryo with his father and the difficult parting with Nazomi at the end.You begin to feel the things Ryo feels, to truly take on the role of a lost, yet fiercely indomitable 18-year-old boy up against overwhelming odds to avenge the death of his father.

Every NPC is interactive and will converse with you. Many characters you meet near his hometown know Ryo by name, and some are his close friends--such as Nozomi Harasaki or the American Tom Johnson. There are actual curves of character development as the game progresses, relationships that alter in scope and nature, and a seemingly new, wary awareness of a wider, more iniquitous world by Ryo.Indeed, the villains Lan Di and unstable, tittering Chai impose heavy, bleak footprints on the narrative. Most people Ryo speaks to will have a few lines of dialogue about this or that--sometimes relevant and sometimes not, or now and then sending you off on splinter pursuits apart from your more crucial objectives--and a few will offer up clues to where you need to go next, what items you might need to acquire and to whom you need to talk.Every interaction can be important as you struggle to uncover clues. And with a continuous, moving timeline, it's all-too-possible to miss certain events as they occur when you're someplace else. While most of the gameplay involves the patient, explorative extrication of mystery upon mystery, there are also occasional action segments of martial arts brawling and QTE (quick time encounter) events calling for some speedy button pushes.

About midway through the proceedings Ryo is obligated to find employment to further fund his undertaking, and in this the game's principal setting and structure is somewhat altered.Ryo secures a job operating a forklift on the harbor docks. Here the game delves even further into the realms of realism, for every morning you must get up and report to work first thing--and then do the actual work for eight hours before recommencing with the more important tasks. And while this sometimes leads to a certain degree of monotony and tedium from the player's perspective, it does seem to work well overall within the scope of the game.

Outside the core body of gameplay are multiple minigames and collectible items that Ryo can pursue. The mingames are found mostly in the You Arcade in Dobuita, where full, authentic versions of the Sega arcade classics Hang On and Space Harrier are playable. There are also darts, billiards, slots and QTE games available. And a jukebox that plays real music. And cassette tapes of music you can buy in stores.Every sunrise before work at the harbor, Ryo can participate in a forklift race. And over 600 collectible items are available--everything from photographs to ancient Japanese mirrors to light bulbs to a package of squid legs--and they're located just about everywhere.

Visually, Shenmue is a tour de force, a world you just fall into like a pool of water and then don't want to get back out of. Stylistically and thematically, in both architecture and culture, it's a purely Japanese world. And the Japanese vibe really gets under your skin after a while. In a strange way, by the end of the game, you almost feel as if you've actually been in Japan, not just playing a game set there. It's a striking ambiance and environment they've created; time's suffocating grip has no hold here on the Dreamcast. The environments spring to life around you: trees and grass sway in the breeze, fish dart around a pond, a kitten meows by the roadside, ships dock at the harbor, pigeons startle into flight by your footsteps, people go blithely about their daily lives, the structures appear so lifelike you can almost reach out and touch them.Character animations are carved with a fine chisel; every line etched in the face a graphic relief, hair strands that divide and drift on the winds, eyes that bore holes of meaning and emotion into you.Even the detail present in Ryo's brown leather jacket is stunning. And all this on the Dreamcast, easily looking as good here as later, more advanced gaming consoles.

Shenmue breaches generations and cultures, a game people of vastly different ages and backgrounds can concurrently enjoy and become absorbed with.In the act of investigating, something is revealed, and that points you to the next stage--and from there to the next. You want to see what happens next; you care about Ryo's journey and the people around him you've come to know. The settings are pragmatic and the basic storyline is simple enough that a child can follow it, yet there is depth enough to draw anyone in.It's a universal theme, and a game that has remained wedged in the memory over the years.Regrettably, the ultimate resolution isn't found here; Ryo's tale winds on in Shenmue II on the Xbox.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yu Suzukies Masterpiece...
Shenmue for the Sega Dreamcast may possibly be the greatest video game experience I've ever had in my gaming days(including Shenmue II for xbox).Shenmue is about a young man out for revenge to find his fathers murderer but theres WAY more too it, I won't spoil anything other then this game is flat out beautiful and should be played by gamers that won't wyn about the slow paced action..

Like the title above, this is Yu Suzukies Masterpiece, the man worked EXTREAMLY hard on this amazing game(Shenmue is also known as one of the most expensive video games ever created).Sadly Yu Suzukies hard worked game never made any good sales because of the PS2's launch, I like many others got it at the time it was first released, This game is just pure brilliance. The visuals are some of the best seen in games...This may be the longest game review I've ever done so lets get to it..

Visuals
This is one of the if not THEEEE best looking DC game ever made, everything is so detailed and the character models are great. The building, the Atmoshpere, thank you so much Suzukie.

Gameplay
ok this is probably the reason this game is the most hated/loved game ever created.IT'S EXTREAMLY SLOW PACED, and may turn off some casual gamers but if you can hold on long enough the action will start to come up.The game play is simple and easy to get use to very quickly. The game plays like a mystery novel, ask people question and clues about something and when you find some clues you go ask other people that may know BUT THIS GAME PULLS IT OFF SO WELL IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY!This game(plus Shenmue II) has THE best fighting engine ever!!!It's taken straight out of the virtura Fighter games. And the Free Battle sequences are extreamly rare yet very fun in the game.Did I mention you can do almost everything in this game?Well not everything but alot of things like getting a job, gambling and alot of the other things that can be done in real life...

Sound/music
When I say this games music is beautiful IT IS, Ten times better then MGS 1.Especially the main theme which you'll notice alot, it's amazing if theres one thing Yu Suzki did well(other then everything els) it's the music in this game, pure brilliance

Controlls
I'm really lazy to get into this but there pretty good
Lemmi just some it up right now

The Good
-Superb Visuals
-Great Controls
-Superb sound
-Amazing Inviorments
-Loads of things to do
-AWESOME FIGHTING ENGINE
-One of the most expensive games ever made
-A beautiful story about vengence but with alot to it

The bad
-action gamers will be turned off by how slow paced this game go's
-For some long, for some a SHORT game, took me about 13 hours my first time but that's because I just did all the story parts and not the side quests
-The sales for this and Shenmue II did so bad that we probably won't see a Shenmue III anytime soon
-For anyone looking for a good challenge for this and Shenmue II, look elswere, it's pretty simple an pretty straight forward..

Other then that Shenmue is an instant classic with everything on the spot, Yu Suzukie created something more then a game....This game is not just good because it feels like you're acctually in that world and living Ryu'S life.....This is good because Yu Suzukie braught us something that just feels so real, and like as if there really is a world like that....acctually there is, JAPAN, duuhh, but still no other game has hit me or motivated to the point were I HAVE TO PLAY THIS GAME more then shenmue....This game is hands down...One of the greatest video game experiences you'll ever have...... When it all comes down to this, I give Shenmue for the sega Dreamcast a

Brilliant....Just...Brilliant

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally a great game a must have for dc fans.
This is a really sweet game. Totally a butt-kicking game. I mean you go around beating people up the game lets you see in real live play beating some one up you know without the pain and nose bleeding.

5-0 out of 5 stars TPittman
Ok, first of all im 12 years old, i bought this game, and played it from 3:00PM-2:00AM, three days in a row, and beat it! I only took about three breaks, and didn't go outside or even eat supper!!! I love this game so much, i beat it twice... total time of the game is about 27hours of game play! Man i wish i had an Xbox so i can play shenmue 2, shenmue 2 is also for the European dreamcast, which i dont have, but someday, i will get shenmue 2, and beat it...

This is a list of all the great things in the game...

1.Great storyline and detailed world...

2.Great minigames: Space Harrier(Quite weird, you look like a mother with a purse coming home from the store), Hang on(A motorcycle racing game), Darts(This ones probably my favorite), Exite QTE2(A game where a letter from the controller apears on the screen and you press it as fast as you can), Pool(not that fun and this is only located in the bar), and last but not least, QTE Title(Pretty much the same as Excite QTE2, but this is a boxing one). Most of the Minigames are located in the Dobuita(The city), at You arcade, and darts is also located at the harbor lounge...

3.You get a job at the harbor, and you take boxes with a Forklift to the warehouse your boss tells you to take it...

4.You can go in most of the buildings in the city Dobuita, and the harbor...

5.You can buy pretty much anything, food, Soda, buy a little toy out of the toy machine, and you can win prises, and win video games...

6.Vehicals are in this game, theres a motorcycle, and a forklift, and you can race on the forklift when you have a job...

7.Theres time, clocks, and it turns day and night, and it snows, and rains...

8. Buy tapes, and you can find a tape player in your room, so you can listen to really cheesy songs...

Heres a list of the bad things in the game...

1.The voice of the main character(Ryo Hazuki) sounds like he only put effort in the beginning, threw the rest of the game, he sounds he doesn't even care that his dad died...

2.The part where you have to save a girl(Nozomi Harasaki) on the motorcycle sucks big time, You only drive the motorcycle straight, i thought you would be able to drive it anywhere, and that part is hard too...

Thats everything, the only part of the game that sucks is them two, but buy the game, trust me, its the best RPG/Adventure game ever made on the planet, and the game not that bad, its rated Teen for Animated violence, Strong language, and Use of Tobacco and Alcohol, but dont let that stop you, just buy it already!!!

NOTE: You need a memory card!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The peak of gaming.
4 years ago, I saw tons of ads for Shenmue. I had never read anything about the game, or knew what it was about, as the ads simply said "SHENMUE" and its release date. I started to get hyped up about it, because they made it seem like this was the biggest game to come out since Super Mario Bros. 3. When it finally did come out, I managed to get it at Target for an incredibly sick low price. Upon taking it home and starting it up, I had a new standard for what makes a game good. I couldn't even believe this was a game when I saw Ryo Hazuki in action, running through an almost photo realistic Japan in the 1980's. It was beauty in motion. But this is more than a pretty game, much more.

What exactly is Shenmue? Is it an rpg, adventure, action, or fighter? It's really all of those. If you don't know by now, it was originally slated to be an rpg with Virtua Fighter characters, which sounds pretty cool. Later on though, everything was changed into something completely original. You play as Ryo Hazuki, a Japanese teenager who arrives home to see a black car parked near his home. Entering through the gates, he finds the housekeeper on the ground, probably beaten up. She tells him that his father's in the dojo and the men in the car are with him. Making his way to the dojo, an "adopted" family member gets thrown out and is unconscious. Finally, Ryo enters to see a Chinese man in a silk robe asking for a mirror. Ryo's dad, Iwao, doesn't tell them, and they begin to fight. Iwao is no match though, as Lan-Di dodges every move without effort and takes him out with a simple kick. Saying that he won't tell him again, Lan-Di threatens to kill Ryo. Iwao has no choice, and tells him that it's buried under the cherry tree outside. But it's too late, and Lan-Di tells Iwao to get up and die with honor. He kills him right in front of Ryo, and leaves with the mirror. The scene is very dramatic and the music addes even more to an already emotional scene. From that point on, it's up to Ryo to track down Lan-Di and avenge his father. Unfortunately for him though, it won't be easy. A lot of time will be spent asking questions around town to get more details on where to go next. This part of the game tends to bore some ignorant people, but it isn't as bad as they make it out. If you actually follow directions, things will be very simple. Sometimes, the people you try to get answers out of take offense, and immediately start a fight. Trust me, the fights in Shenmue are sweet and I was always pumped to get in one. The music, moves, and danger of it all renders all other fights in games obsolete. It took me a long time to get back to turn-based fights in rpgs after playing this.

As serious as it may sound, you can still have fun in Shenmue. Remember, this takes place in Japan in the 80's, so it's a very new world to many people. It's also as realistic as you can get. The designers took the actual weather reports and forecasts from that time period and put them into the game's actual calendar. If it was raining on a friday in December in real life, it's doing the same thing here in the game. If you don't want to wait around until a store opens to talk to the owner, buy some capsule toys of classic Sega characters (ranging from Sonic to NiGHTS to Sega executives), or go to the arcade and play classic games like Hang-On or Space Harrier. Time flies when playing those gems. You can also try out darts, a boxing simulator, and a QTE arcade machine to win capsule toys of said machines. QTEs are pretty cool. During a scene, sometimes a button or direction will flash on the screen, and you have to press it quickly in order to move on. An example is when some bikers attack (well, try to if you're good) Ryo at the harbor. If you manage to hit all the buttons correctly at the right time, Ryo will knock a biker off his motorcycle, causing him to fall into the sea. Even now, four years later, these excite me. Shenmue also has a vast variety of characters- Ryo's potential love interest: Nozomi the flower girl, Tom the hot dog vendor, Goro the street-wise punk with a heart of gold, Mark who supervises Ryo when he gets a job (oh yes, you get to work, and it's nothing but fun) driving forklifts, and many more characters. You can also practice your fighting moves in the dojo or even a parking lot. And you'll want to if you don't want to get beaten up in the many fights. Go out and buy some new move scrolls at the antique shop, or look around the Hazuki house. There's just so much to do here, that I could bore you even more with a second review just to go through it all. And by the time you're even 2 hours into the game, you will actually feel like you -are- Ryo Hazuki. The character attention is worthy of 5 stars in its own.

For the time it was released, nothing could compare to Shenmue. Character models all have nothing but the best detail. Wrinkles in their skin, articles of clothing where you can see each individual stitch, and actual facial expressions. Not just heads that had moving mouths, but real expressions. You can see the anger and determination in Ryo's eyes when confronting members of gangs in the area, shock when Tom demonstrates a new move later on, and grace in the final scene. But the developers didn't just stop with the main characters like so many others do, each individual character has their own unique look to distinguish them from anyone else. Just look at some of the workers at the harbor, or the resturant workers who look the part. On the Shenmue passport disc, there are almost FMV quality graphics in some of the characters that talk to you about the Shenmue world and explain various things. They're so close to being of Final Fantasy X FMV quality. Even today after the likes of the Xbox and GC have set the bar, those graphics look great. If there's anything to degrade in the graphics at all, it's that there's slowdown when walking through crowded streets. It never bothered me, but it does get to some people. Fortunately, this doesn't occur during the incredible fights. The 70 man battle in particular.

There's nothing bad to say about the music. The game's theme will automatically be stuck in your head once you hear it for the first time. And when the Chinese fiddle version is heard, it makes the theme even more memorable. It's epic, plain and simple. The theme is heard a lot throughout the game, but used differently and with variations. There's even a christmas version once December rolls around. Through the game, you can also buy cassette tapes if you want to hear something different. My favorite would probably be Hang-On, which can be won at the Tomato store as a prize. And the music that kicks in during fights, nothing short of dynamic. It's a shame it wasn't carried over to the sequel. That theme alone was worth playing for. And like the graphics, there's one tiny thing I didn't like- some of the voice acting. A lot of the voices are pretty good, but some of the extras just didn't try. If you have the chance, import the Japanese version to get the better voices.

Shenmue remains my favorite game even after the Panzer Dragoon Ortas and Blinxes and even Bust-A-Moves that I've played recently. Please buy this game and show support so the saga can continue. Right now the series is kind of in a rut, and its future isn't looking too good. As long as its finished in some way (even if the official comic manages to get more attention), I'll be happy. Shenmue isn't for everyone, but for those that pick it up and can appreciate it, they'll be hooked. Thank you for making this experience Mr. Suzuki. Here's hoping to more in the future *raises glass of cranberry apple raspberry juice*. ... Read more

Wouldn't it be nice to play games without a cord stretching across yourliving-room floor, especially if you have little kids or large dogs in yourhousehold? Nintendo's Wave Bird isn't the first wireless controller ever broughtto market, but it's a whole lot better than what came before. You may remember abrief fad a few years ago with spotty infrared devices. These units failedbecause they were a lot heavier than standard controllers, and also because theyrequired a direct line of sight between the controller and the infraredreceiver. The Wave Bird is much lighter (it weighs a bit more than a regularcontroller) and uses radio frequency signals for reliable game control atdistances of up to 20 feet. Unless your playing on a stadium-size TV screen, that should be more than enough. The unit will last for about 100 hours of useon just two AA batteries and has 16 channel frequencies, so you'll easily beable to hook up four controllers without interference. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Controllers Ever!
I swear by these controllers. I have 3 of them and they are workhorses. Couldn't lose the signal if you tried. Highly Reccomend!

5-0 out of 5 stars My Story on the WaveBird Wireless Controller
I first heard about this brand in the Toys "R" Us big toy book.
On Christmas Eve I went to aunt Helene's they have a cool projector and my cousin Matt played with the GameCube on the projcetion screen. He was busy playing an NBA basketball game, and I wanted to play a game with him. So my mom told him to play a game with him, and I picked Mario Party 4. I had the WaveBird wireless controller. When the game was over I wanted it so badly.
I have a baby brother he's a toddler now so he's curious and I don't have to tangle the wires to prevent him from getting it. Instead I can just keep it in a safe place. Also I play on the floor, and it's more comfy playing on the bed. I haven't got it yet because Mom just ordered it.

4-0 out of 5 stars WhyBuy This When you can get a corded controller?
Why? Because it is much more durable. I own 3 corded contollers which I bought at the same time as my only wireless. The corded ones broke about 1 year hence, the wireless is still going strong. [...] In any case, if you are looking for an excellent gaming experience Purchase this item. SOMEWHERE ELSE!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best controller ever
ok this is so awesome i love it alot because i can play it on my bed when my tv is a lil far distance its so cool i dont have to worry about and cords i have 4 controllers 2 are blue then i have this one and i aslso have a black one but out of them all this one was the best so if i were you i would get it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Wireless Controller of Any System
The Wavebird has set an example for all other wireless controllers. Lighter in weight than the regular controller (although lacking the somewhat cool rumble feature), the battery life of the Wavebird is surpisingly good, lasting much longer than expected. A pair of AA's lasted me all the way through The Wind Waker, and partway through Metroid Prime. Range is excellent, although I find that certain obstacles will cause a little glitching. It has also defeated the problem of the relatively short cord on the regular Gamecube controller. Overall, it's worth every penny. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Chamber Of Fun!
This game is one of the best games I have ever played.

>Every hidden corner can be explored.
>Each spell is very creative.
>The surroundings in the game are very well detailed.
>It is more fun to collect wizard cards in this game than in
any other because the cards unlock many secrets.

From Arigog in the Forbidden Forest to the bascilisk in the Chamber Of Secrets this game is great fun. It is a must play!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Great Graphics
I've had trouble finding computer games for my daughter that are age appropriate. Most games labeled "for children" are really for kindergarten & under, and thus too easy & childish."Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets" is just perfect! This is a wonderful game, challenging without being frustrating; great graphics; low on violence; and just plain fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars geting better
This game is better than the first harry potter but don't get me rong I liked the first also.this is another must have for harry potter fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars One great game
This is the best of the 4 Harry Potter games. The graphics are good, the music is good, and the gameplay is great. The spells you learn are really creative. This is the hardest Harry Potter game I've played. However, you have to restart the game to acsoss the Main Menu.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great game for all ages!
Harry Potter and the Chamber Of secrets is a very fun and interesting video game. You start out having to save Ron from the Whomping Willow. On the Whomping Willow there will be a sign that means you may cast Flipendo on it and save Ron. When you arrive at Hogwarts, you're first day you will have a lesson with Proffesor Lockhart on the Third Level. You will have to hit an arrow key on the keyboard as a wand makes its way around it. This is called Rictusempra. It stuns many unusual creatures. It is useful in this game, though. You will then go to the Rictusempra Challenge. When you arrive in a room that has three boxes where you can cast Flipendo on it, look at the doors. On each floor level there will be a picture of Proffesor Lockhart. Cast Flipendo on the blocks until you have the three bottom level doors unlocked. Then unulock the left door and go into it up into the next level and so on. Then when you arrive in the last room You have to hit the creatures into the pit where they belong. Then go up to get the Completion Star, and your time will become your new personal record. What I like to do after I complete the Rictusempra Challenge is go to the Dueling Club and duel other members. After you beat levels, the courts change. Then finish all of the other challenges. When you arrive at the Chamber Of Secrets, I have barely any advice. The only advice I have is that when fighting the Basilisk in the second round, only hit him when his mouth is open. Before you fight the Basilisk, you must gain a lot of health. After you defeat Tom Riddle and the Basilisk, you end up in Dumbledore's office. Go up to the top of his office and look for a Wizard card. Then, when you are finished, do not i mean DO NOT go to the feast. First, you must make sure you have every Silver Wizard card to advance to the Gold Wizard card Challenge. If you do not have every Silver Wizard card, I would duel people and buy cards from sellers. That is all the advice I have. And I recommend to purchase Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay for beginners but get one on eBay!
This mat is okay for beginners. It won't last too long for advance users but this mat is a great way for a beginners to learn how to play. Some people recommend duct tapping plywood on the bottom of the mat some it responds better, but if you get a mat anywhere, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting one on eBay.Usually, they are brand new and factory sealed. They usually come in a sets of two (one for you and a friend) and sell for about $8.50 like this one (either in XBox or PS2) and $15.95 for shipping (The Buy It Now price on eBay is usually $8.50 but you can still bid on it to save a couple of bucks).Shipping for these mats on amazon.com are $4.49 for 3-5 day shipping and $8.98 for two day shipping so you still come out ahead on eBay.I got a mat that retails for $130 (its sort of like the mat that sells for $99 here; its more expensive because it has extra padding and it will last longer) for $20 and $25 dollar shipping. For hardcore fans who really got some moves and play the DDR games a lot, eBay has the metal dance mats with the bar (looks exactly like the one in the arcades) for about $150 (not including shipping).Otherwise, this is an awesome mat but if you want to save money and get one for when a friend comes over, get one on eBay (if you get one on eBay, search ddr or search ddr extreme).

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not a quality product.
Buyer beware -- If you're buying this because it's the cheapest dance mat available, you're going to get exactly what you paid for.I am just getting into DDR so I bought this to practice at home.It worked great for a couple of weeks, but now the up arrow is screwy and doesn't always register, which makes it extremely frustrating to play.I estimate I got less than 20 hours of use before it started to fail on me, which is inexcusable. In short this pad is not worth the money or trouble.Look elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars ~Whacks mat with a shovel~
I first started playing DDR at a friend's birthday party, where I got hooked on it and asked for it for my own birthday.Well, knowing my parents, they got me DDR just as I asked. (They love it when I excersize without them bugging me, I bet they thought DDR was a gift from heaven. xD) Along with DDRMax 2, they got me this soft dance pad, and for a while, it did great.I got better and better, and eventually, I progressed to Standard mode. That was when the madness began. At first, it was just the fact that it got scrunched up like a raisin after a fast song. And also, it slid under the couch or onto the wall mid-play, causing me to fail the song. And then, it got worse.Sometimes I would press a button, but it would not register. And the most annoying of all is when it registered when I wasn't even standing on it! It would just incessantly press the -> or <- buttons until I wiggled the buttons around enough to make it stop! The nice thing was, however, that after I got DDR Extreme, I got a new dance pad, same as the first.I had it all along, just in case a friend wanted to play. So, I hooked it up, and played on my "new" one.By then I played on Heavy mode (I rock =P), and the "new" dance mat lasted about... 5 days. And with that one, I accidentally stepped on the black hard "thing" on the front connecting to the wire. Now, the up arrow occasionally won't register any of my steps every other song.I have to wiggle around the black "thing" to get the up arrow to even work at all!Ok... the moral of my story is... if you are just beginning, this pad is for you.If you play on Standard, I wouldn't consider it.If you play on Heavy, don't sue me for damage to your floor when you take a chainsaw and slice the mat into shreds. If you play on Oni Mode (DDRMax), then don't even make direct eye contact with this product. It'll drive you to insanity. If you want a quality dance mat, buy a RedOctane 2.0 Ignition Pad.It's well worth the money.

see, i'm an experience Dancer and I got this pad about 1 and 1/2 years ago. now i invest my money on a metal pad. that broke and i got red octane. trust me. if you are on a hard standard song or heavy go get the red octane not this but this is prteey good for beginneres and might modes people. not for me.

2-0 out of 5 stars Okay Dance Mat...
When I first bought this mat, it was out of stock so I guess people like this. But I would like to warn that this mat may be fun, but not at all durable. I've had it for three months before it broke. the up arrow got seriuosly messed up and hardly ever works now. The down arrow is getting screwed up too. It slipps all over the room while I am playing it and it messes up my game. :P
This mat works as good as any other mat until you've had it for a while. I've had a lot of fun on this mat and eventually, I knew it was going to break but I didn't expect it to break so soon. It's been half a year and I've never played it agian. I recomend the redoctave.com Playstation Non-Slip Dance Pads.:D It's more durable and it doesn't take you surfing accross the room. ... Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the first third-person action-adventure game based on the international hit TV series. Players take on the role of Buffy Summers, a 17-year-old high-school student who must balance adolescent growing pains with the responsibility of being the Chosen One. As the slayer, Buffy eliminates vampires and other demonic creatures that threaten the world's existence. It's up to you to save the human race from being "drained" during this devilish time.

Fortunately, Buffy is not alone. Her friends help her solve mysteries and watch her back. Fans of the series will recognize the voices of favorite characters including Angel, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Spike, the Master, and Giles.

Players fight a range of enemies including Spike, the Master, Drusilla, demons, zombies, and other supernatural creatures that threaten mankind. All of Buffy's favorite haunts are richly detailed: Sunnydale High School, the cemetery, the Bronze nightclub, and the library, which is the portal that sits atop the Hellmouth. Special supernatural effects such as morphing creatures, eldritch explosions, dynamic fogging, and arcane spell casting enhance the dark, mythical setting of the game. An intelligent combat system allows enemies to perform counterattacks and learn from character's fighting techniques. ... Read more

YOur out to rid the world of Vamps and evil feins Buffy style. There are so many great weapons to choose from. You've got your typical stake, shovels, hell-fire, cross-bow, holy water, an awesome hell-fire gun and much much more. There are your average vampires (girls and guys), then you have the vamps on steroids, spiders, dead zombies, skeletons, bats, . . . you name, Buffy's got it!I play this game ALL THE TIME!You can even set the games to easy-normal-hard.This game is a must . . if you just play it once . . you'll be hooked . .trust me!!!I highly highly highly reccomend it!

HI i have this game for x-box it rocks and it's so cool and i also have the second one and so great thanks.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks
Superfun. I have played it all the way through on each skill level, easy, normal and hard. Hard is really hard! The graphics are fantastic. The show looks, sounds and feels like the show. I love the little quips from the vamps and Buffy! I hated having to fight Spike, because I like him so much on the show. It just seemed wrong. And it is such a hard battle. He's tough! I don't think I ever fought him without losing at least half my health.

I love that Alyson does her own voice! And her cute little jokes. Anyway, don't listen to anyone, this game is rock solid fun. I played it and played it until I got so good I was sick of it. I'll probably play it again in a year or so.

The hardest battle is with the "tiger." I battled over and over again until my fingers were tired! After about 5 or 6 hours of gameplay I finally figured out that there's a trick to killing him. Once you know that, it's easy. But you have to know how. I won't ruin it for you. All that battling taught me how to fight better later in the game.

A+. After Halo, this is my second favorite Xbox game. #3 is 007 Nightfire. <shameless plug>

5-0 out of 5 stars Buffy at its best!!!!
This is by far a much better game than chaos bleeds.I have heard that the collective is working on a few new projects.I really hope one of them is a true sequal to Buffy.Buy this game it is worth every penny!!! ... Read more

This is the best GBA game ever! Better than Final Fantasy Tactics advance! This game is worth every penny! Tons of Gameplay!

5-0 out of 5 stars Puts your GBA to a good use
I dont know if this is really the kind of game for everyone. I am very personal with my games and with every great game I play I find myself deeply attached to certain aspects that could even be overlooked by a casual gamer. Chances are if you play this game you will miss out on parts of the experience i had with it. I enjoyed this game because of the great characters, thoughtful dialog, sweet music, and the atmosphere. Each little person you meet seems to have a heart. There are people that make you glad, people you feel sorry for, and people you will get angry at. I felt bad about certain enemies you're forced to kill. Alphonse, the main character, is an admirable guy and I love the girl who rescues him from the sea, Eleanor. Her theme song is one of the best in the game. There are people that make you glad, people you feel sorry for, and people you will get angry at. I felt bad about certain enemies you're forced to kill. And although he's kind of evil, the final boss is awesome. I felt respect for just about every character. The music is sometimes a little simple, but it always matches the scene is which it is place. And its not all giddy and giggly like some games music that gets on my nerves, like harvest moon. Some of the better tunes are the opening movie, eleanor's theme, cybil's theme, the final boss, and the credits. The battles are long man. Train your party members and level them up in random battles whenever you have nothing better to do, then when youve got more time enjoy the key parts of the story. There are all sorts of details in this game, in the menus and in the graphics as well. I love details. Poke around with the help feature and find out things that make the world feel more complete. This review really rambles i guess i just wanted to honor the game rather than convince people to buy it... but if you like some of these other games I've enjoyed maybe you'll like Tactics Ogre: Both Golden Suns, Dragon Warrior 1 thru 3, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. This is an excellent Game Boy title that doesnt feel quite like the other games you play on this system. I loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!!!!
This game rules!! There are new classes and what used to be male only classes are now female also and vice-versa.New missions new people new wepons what more could you ask for?If you like The ogre battle series buy it!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoy a challenge??......Here it is.
Tactics ogre for the game boy advanced is the fourth game down a long and great line of stragedy games, involved key game play elements from FFT (final fantasy tactics) and Ogre Battle( N64 & super NES). The great thing about this game is that is has the best mixure between the two. The fighing style for this game follows the same techniqe as FFT, but with a twist. Now when it's your turn to battle you can choose who moves at any time!! You can move you heavy steel weiding Knight first thing, or have your powerful wizard clear the way with his spells, choosing who moves and when is one of the key's to what make this a great game.

Graphics- The graphics are good for the Game boy advance, better than most 32 bit games out there. The toon style characters follow those from the playstation version of Tactics Ogre.

Sound- The dramatic sounds this little game puts out are good at creating the mood for whatver is happening, fighting sounds are also a plus.

Gameplay- The gameplay makes this game what it is...Wonderful!! You follow the life and times of one charcter, and make an impact to other unique characters lives. The ability to make choices adds to the fun factor. If you start over, you can never play this game exactly the same twice.

Highlights- Three battery save slots are available, plus a suspend option for those really long battles. Fun exicited and challenging.

Cons (Had to think of some)- This game is for ones seeking to use stragedy and their mind, not just simple games play. This is not for you if you just want to have some simple fun. It's too easy these days to get a quick walkthrough which takes away from the game play, and anticipation (use skill not cheats).

Overall- You MUST buy this game if have any RPG or stragedy blood in your viens!!

this is the best strategy game for gba.it even competes with golden sun.

it has a pretty so so storyline (you are this guy who starts in the ranks of these special troops, and you break up to find this item and you basically run around a map killing enemies).it is fun, because not only can you persuade people to join your party, but you can hire people in towns.

fighting

moves

persuasion/hiring

quest mode

*cons*

graphics (they are ok, not anything special)

storyline

no-save period during enemy's turn

no-save period during long conversations that can take up to ten minutes if you bother to actually read what all the idiots are saying

allinall i think this is a great game, but if you sense a conversation, start htting (A) at like ten times a second.most of the conversations are irrelevant.

Amazon.com Review

In Star Wars Episode II: The New Droid Army the Clone Wars are raging, and the Jedi Council has gotten word that a dangerous new battle droid has been seen on Tatooine. The Council has sent young Jedi Anakin Skywalker to investigate.

This game has two important things going for it: the graphics--with 3-D polygons, smooth animation, and vibrant colors--are top-notch, and the sound effects, including snippets of music from the movies, are impressive for the GBA’s tiny speaker. Hearing the hum of the lightsaber, the twang of laser shots, and--perhaps most impressive--the creepy guffaws of the Tusken Raiders brought a tear to my eye.

But while the sights and sounds of The New Droid Army are impressive, the gameplay is a mixed bag. As young Anakin, you run around, slicing up stuff with your lightsaber. And then you slice some more, and then a bit more. You do have certain Force powers that add to gameplay (moving quickly, jumping really high, becoming invisible, healing wounds, etc.), but not enough to completely relieve the tedium. The biggest flaw though is the lack of character interaction. While you will often need to talk with people to gather information, not all people can talk, so most characters are merely window-dressing. Worse, there is no battery save option in the game. This is a good-looking game that falls well short of classic status. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • Great graphics and sound
  • Fun cutscenes
  • Useful Force powers

  • No health packs
  • Can’t interact with all characters

This game is fun for a day or two, but then it gets old after a while. There are no healh pack thingys and why the heck do you have to remember passwords? Why can't you just save the game? Plus, there is no change in scenerey. Everywhere you go it's just the same as everywhere else you have gone. And why is so hard to kill one simple battle droid. Dang, Anakin can't fight worth a flip on this game.

It was an exciting game, a little easy, but, it has great replay value.I've beat it three times, and it's awesome each time. This was always a great game.A little difficult the first try, but it's got great replay value.I always thought of it as a good Game Boy game, as it was my first and only GBA game.I stick to GameCube, now.Harder, funner.Well, adiós.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Game is Way to Easy
This game is extremely easy and wasn't entertaing. I am a teenage girl and i'm not a huge starwars fan but I do like some of the movies. All you do is lightsaber ur way through levels and it doesn't get any harder as you progress. My brother purchased this game he's 8 but he loved it. Maybe I shouldn't have expected much from this game?

This is a 80/100 shooter game. For those of you who like Halo or Halo 2, this game is so-so. Very unrealistic. I was playing 1 player and this happens to me on every level: I am sniping, I shoot a guy in the foot. Guess what happend? He grabbed his stomach with both hands and fell over! SOMEWHAT UNREALISTIC GAME!

2-0 out of 5 stars chEAp
I got this game a while ago. It's single player is pretty good. Though sometimes the missions get long and boring. Multiplayer isn't that good.youcan choose to create bots to fight you with a friend or something. But on some levels that you choose you can go in cable cars but the bots can't. you can go on the roof but the bots can't. You can snipe but the bots can't. You can use mounted guns but the bots can't. The only thing that bots can do is shoot you. It's basically just like doing target practice

3-0 out of 5 stars Good.. for a while....
This game was very fun for the first week... but as soon as it got old... it got boring. The single-player missions are sooooooooooo easy or extremely hard, like the one where you are underwater and you have to destroy the submarines.. it's either easy or hard (depending on how good I'm doing that day). Once you get the hang of this game... it's too easy! I really like the multi player mode but... the courses aren't good. The Skyrail is an exception, though. The weapons are great, like the Sentinel, Scorpion, and the Phoenix Samaurai. The weapons also go back to GoldenEye weapons, like the PP7. The characters in multiplayer are in the game as of some of your "favorite" villains and Bond's allies (all ladies for MI-6, bad!). This a great game but gets old. I'm stopping you from buying this game... but I think only true OO7 fans who have a gaming system should get it. Otherwise, rent or skip this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nightfire
The Multiplayer is great you can have up to 4 AI bots and also drive mini tanks and helicopter drones and shoot guided missile that you control! 1 player is fun and exciting and difficult which is goodand has a great story line bonds looks have recovered after agent under fire where he was SOO UGLY.The game would be even better if you could play online abnd shoot civilians without you failing a mission.Just needs more unneccesary death.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good game!!
I'm not a big fan of any of the James Bond movies or video games, but this is a very very good game! The tons of multiplayer games make it fun to play with friends. The only big disappointment was that some of the levels on multiplayer are just too small. Otherwise, it is an excellent game! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Larger in scope than itspredecessor and better in almostevery way, Breath of Fire II is a perfect port of the original SNES game, and will leave role-playing fans begging for more.

The game starts out, dreamlike, in a small border village 500 years after theevents of the first game. You play a small boy named Ryu (ring a bell?) who islooking for his lost sister. After finding his sister and reuniting her withpops, Ryu wanders around a bit and returns home--and that's when things reallystart to get interesting. To go further than that would risk spoiling the story, but we can say that the plot is really topnotch this time around and has threealternate endings.

Graphically, the game is a huge jump from the original. The towns are larger, the character sprites are more detailed, and the field map is gorgeous. You seeweather effects such as rain and drifting clouds, wandering animals and jumpingfish, and plants blowing in the breeze. If you have any experience with the best16-bit RPGs for the SNES, like Final Fantasy VI orChrono Trigger, you getthe idea.

The characters are completely new in the series, and have brand-new skills. Theonly exception is Ryu (who isn't the original Ryu, but basically has the sameskills). Like the original Breath of Fire, certain areas of the game areonly accessible by using the skills of your party members. For example, one ofyour members can turn into a frog, and can ferry you across rivers and streams.

Among the changes to Breath of Fire II is that fishing and hunting havebigger roles; they're now minigames that require technique and reward with itemsthat can advance the story. An animated monster image shows up on the field menuto give you an idea how often you'll encounter the baddies--nice for avoidingall those random battles. There's also the new Guts stat, which will sometimesallow a character to fight even when he should be knocked out. The two coolestadditions are town creation (where you get to build and populate your own town),and the new fusion system, which allows your characters to "fuse" with shamansthat you encounter, thus joining and augmenting their powers. In a nutshell, this game improves upon the best parts of the original. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • Character fusion
  • Fishing and hunting minigames
  • Town creation
  • Save anywhere
  • Trade items via link cable
  • Improved graphics, sound, and music
Cons:
  • Ryu doesn't actually make contact when he attacks

3-0 out of 5 stars Ahh!Need Water!O_o
Breath of Fire 2 was originally released for the Super Nintendo.Somehow, I managed to miss it when I had that system, so buying it on the GBA seemed like a natural move considering I'd heard a little about it from other gamers who played it, as well as some online reviews.

...This was a poor game to start the system off with (yes, this was my first GBA game)...

I know this was a direct port of the SNES version, so I went into this knowing it would retain SNES quality. For the most part, graphics and sound are average here.Nothing super extravagant, but nothing too bland either (sound is a bit below-average, though).

Gameplay is what killed me throughout playing this.Comparing this to several other RPGs (anything from Dragon Warrior games, to Final Fantasy games and so on).I'm still not able to figure out where this one went wrong. Here are my guesses, though:

- Horribly high amount of random battle encounters (and they even have an icon that tells you how high your probability of lots of encounters are).
- Unbalanced gameplay.Combat is more of a chore in this game compared to any other old school RPG.
- Weak attacks.A huge majority of the characters are practically useless, and what's even worse is the shaman system employed partway through the game, which fixes some of these issues, is dispersed if your characters get too low on HP.Not to mention most of the spell casters good attacks are just magic, and even then Ryu (the main character) still does more damage than them.
- Over-reliance on certain attacks.Even though most RPGs tend to make you favor certain attacks, this one does it to the point of monotony.
- Poor exploration.Somehow, this world just wasn't all that enjoyable to journey across. In fact, somehow even the residents of the world aren't that interesting either.A shame, because it had lots of potential in my eyes because of the interesting diverse races (such as the winged people of Windia, and the dragon clan).

There are only two reasons I don't outright give this game the lowest score ever. For one thing, the story was quite interesting (even though the translation seemed to be mauled a bit). For another, it had a bit of humor in it, but nothing worth writing home about.

So, to sum this up, I cannot recommend this game to anyone.Whether you've been playing RPGs since before they were cool, or never heard of them, it would be best to skip this. There are lots of other much better RPGs on the GBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars best rpg besides fire emblem
so i wanted a new rpg for my game boy and saw all of the reviews for breath of fire II. I instantly was begging to go to the local gaming store. At the begining it was bad you control this stupid midget guy and its in black and white. I thought i bought a bad game but i learned quickly dont get decieved by the begining after you come out of the forest its in color, well 1 problem solved. So you go along and eventually get caught up in a cave where a monster is that knocks you out for 10 years. yay im not a retard anymore. this game is awsome the battle sequences are cool and it is an excellent game.

storyline: 5/5

graphics: 5/5

controls: 5/5

gameplay: 5/5

even though ryu makes a slash in the air when he attacks and not the enemy, get over it other people dont. This is 1 of the best rpgs ever made, some other great rpgs are, final fantasy x, fire emblem, golden sun, harvest moon etc. really dont hesitate to buy. It will be 1 of the best buys youve ever made.

4-0 out of 5 stars Randomness
A four and a half star game.Good graphics, interesting story line, awesome spells. The spells make the game. The only thing that bothers me is getting stuck in stupid and random places.I'm normally pretty good at video games but this one was over my head. The story line was pretty weird to. Who ever heard of killing evil fatty monsters? Messed up.The end bothered me to.I won't spoil it, but it basically says, Oh, you really didn't do what you thought you were going to do.Okay then. But I enjoyed it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps getting better
Arguably the best game in Capcom's RPG series, Breath of Fire II makes a seamless transition from the 16-bit Super NES to the small-screened Game Boy Advance. Although the game got smaller, it's still an engrossing adventure that no RPGer on the go should be without. BOFII is essentially an epic quest of self-discovery. As one of the fleeting kin of a group known as the Dragon Clan (so named for their ability to transform into gigantic fire-breathing things), you'll meet up with eight other diverse souls and embark on a quest to unlock the secrets of your past...and save the world in the process. The road is loaded with entertaining and challenging side quests that keep the game fresh and exciting-even when the narrative takes occasional trips to cliché-ville. Sibling rivalry, lost love, domineering parents-you name it, this game's got it all. The game's only flaw is the ease with which you can defeat bosses and reach the end of the game. Anyone who's ever played a turn-based combat system will immediately take to BOFII's antiquated slug-fests, but most of the time you'll just hit Auto-Battle. Despite an occasional tough opponent, you'll bulldoze over most monsters without breaking so much as a hand sweat. BOFII's plush sprite visuals are matched by an atmospheric music score that admirably gets the job done. Straightforward and simple controls solidly track your every move, too. In the realm of today's high-powered next-gen role-players, BOFII is an excellent time-killer-not to mention one of the better entries in the series.

1-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
I bought this game a few years ago for the SNES after playing BOF1.I was looking for more of that wonderful gameplay in the first classsic game.I was terribly disappointed and I endorse the comments of the other reviewer from Valencia, CA USA.I quote them immediately below.

*******************
"The sequel to one of the best rpg games with the best story line is a total and complete flop. breath of fire 2 does not follow anything even remotly like a story and is not in any way realated to the first game.the game should have had some thing to do with defeating Tyr after she comes back at the end of Breath of Fire 1. the fighting is different and when i tried to select a enemy to fight out of 3 enemies, i ended up shooting myself. what is probably the worst part about fighting is when you meet a new enemy. you can't see how much health they have so it is frustarating not knowing how long until you kill them. the graphics are horrible and are worse than any game i have ever played. the hunting in this game is extremly disipointing and you spend the time waiting for a deer or boar to come out of the grass. if you are looking for a good RPG, play Breath of Fire 1 or Golden Sun"
*********************

Additionally, the storyline (what there is of it) is horrid. It is not even a true sequel, but seems to be an attempt by the company to simply capitalise on the success of the first without too much effort. In short people.Do NOT buy this game. ... Read more

You don't have to be MacArthur to recognize that Advance Wars isone of the best strategy war games for any console. The game pits four fictionalcity-states in a battle for territory. Your job as commanding officer is todefeat the enemies in turn-based combat over land, air, and sea. AdvanceWars has a stiff learning curve, but its interactive tutorials can turn thegreenest GI into agreat leader of pixelated men. AW also offers manymultiplayer options, including the ability to play against a friend by passingthe GBA back and forth. To extend the possibilities, you can also create newbattlefields and trade them with others. Despite cutesy visuals, this is a verydeep game that is also accessible. For GBA generals looking to flex theirtactical muscles or anyone looking for a simply great GBA game, look no further.--Mark Brooks

  • Clear and informative graphics
  • Ideal interface for the tiny GBA screen
  • Lots of multiplayer and customization options.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best turn-based strategy I've ever played
You take on the role of a Commanding Officer (CO) in a cartoony world at perpetual war with itself. Easy to get into, and deceptively deep. Advance Wars is strategy at its best. What makes it so special? First, the graphics are great. The animations are instant gratification when a well-timed attack turns the tide of battle, help you visualize battle results in several ways so you know exactly how your units are doing. Second, the options for multiplayer are excellent. Because the game is turn based, 4 players can play together even on only one system. Grab a friend, and enjoy the anticipation of having the system handed back to you and seeing your opponent smirk as you stumble into their trap (playing on seperate systems can be done, but isn't nearly as fun).

The most important facet of this game is depth. Fog of War (where parts of the map your units can't see are blacked out) makes for intensity- you're always trying to calculate what forest or hilltop might contain enemy units waiting for you. The basics of troop movements give way to incredible strategy (delay the enemy tank by sacrifing your troops, or retreat and lure the tank into range of your artillery?). Each CO is completely unique (Max has stronger tanks, but weaker artillery. Sami has tougher troops, but weaker vehicles) and thier individual powers add an extra level of depth to the process.

Advance Wars is an amazing game for singleplayer action. Add in a full-featured map creator, a ton of unlockable COs, and the wealth of options, and this is one of the best multiplayer games on the GameBoy. A must-have.

5-0 out of 5 stars War Chess
This game is basically chess, with more units, you can move all of your units per turn, and you can create units. It is challenging, but it is very fun.Not to mention its a gameboy game, so you can play it anywhere :)

Advanced Wars is everything you could ask for in a strategy game. If you're like me and you love turn based strategy then look no further, Advance Wars is definately up to par with the host of other tactical RPGs for GBA. While it's not an rpg by any means i can't see anyone who likes Final Fantasy Tactics not falling in love with this game. I love turn based strategy and Advance Wars is definately pretty high up on the list of must owns for the genre.

The lack of an RPG element (which has pretty much taken over turn based strategy games in recent years) is somewhat of a blessing. Don't get me wrong i enjoy building up characters but it's definatly a nice change of pace to be able to just jump in and start playing without worrying about much else.

It's also worth mentioning that Advance Wars is fairly difficult. The extensive tutorial while somewhat annoying in its length is probably necessary for the vast majority of gamers. There are quite a few battles where one mistake will easily put you out of commission.

Advance Wars definely deserves 5 Stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Frickin' Addicting!
Man ... I just got totally sucked into this game. It's a lot of fun.Not an action game at all ... you have to use your head.I think if you liked Pikmin for the GC, you'll like this game. And, I'll go the other way on this one then too ... if you like this game ... make sure you get Pikmin on the GameCube. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Game is Great!!!
I rented this game for my XBox at first. Eventually, the game had to be returned to Blockbuster. But, I knew exactly what game was next on my wish list. The game has the most interesting storyline to date and it is great to play.

This game gives you hours and hours of gameplay. It doesn't take that long to intially complete the game, but you have all these other things you can do in the game. Collecting the Graffiti Souls gives you the opprotunity to gain new characters.

This graphics are interesting but they are in no way bad. After playing the game for like six hours straight, you eyes will start to burn. But, I doubt anyone would do that.

The tricks in this game are hot and the characters are great. This game is not as easy as one would think it to be, but it is great fun.

1-0 out of 5 stars My sister is obsessed with this game!
There is no point to this game. All that happens is you skate around,do grafetti and things happen. It is so pointless no wonder it was free with the xbox! It is so Toyko-atized. No affence to people in Toyoko. The grapics are so stupid. My 10 yr old sister is so obseesed with this game that she came out in a towel just to see if we had beat it yet. This game will rot your brain. Burn it and cover it with meleted jet set games. DO NOT PLAY!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Soul Brotha
Jet Set Radio is the best Xbox game next to Halo. The game has so much style that it's not even funny and it's a shame that people thinks it stinks since and I think it's dumb that this game comes for free(it's another way of saying the game stinks so it'll come for free with the xbox). The game is excellent. It has amazing Visuals. The Visuals are just as good as Jet Grind Radio but a tad bit better. The game is probably one of the best looking Xbox games around and has superb character models.

The games controll is very well down, smilebit and Sega did an excellent job with the controlls and I give them credit for that but not as much credit as I give them for the amazing Music! The music in this game is ten times better then Jet Grind Radio. Some of the best music I've heard in a game acctually.Very well done I must say.The only problem is that it doesn't have a time meter and there are occasional slowdowns if you're close to too many characters of yours.

I'll make this short and sweet..

Good
-best looking Xbox to date with amazing visuals
-great fast paced gameplay
-loads of stuff to find and characters to unlock
-A pretty cool though kind of lame storyline
-The seqaul to the best DC game ever, in my opinion..

Bad
-Some slow downs here and there
-The game can be completed very quickly
-Needs more music

Overall this is my favorite Xbox game and it has great visuals, awesome music, terrific fast pace action is the best Xbox in my opinion.Heck I think it's better then Halo!..well sort of...Overall this game is terrific and that is why I give it a..

4.6 out of 5 stars.

Very awesome Xbox game...

Lates..

3-0 out of 5 stars Held my attention for a few months.
When I first bought my XBOX, JSRF and Sega GT came with it.That is the only reason I own this game.First the graphics:The graphics have a nice quality.Very unique and colorful. The gameplay: It's a fun little skating game with a cool story, nothing more. You don't even have to press any buttons to grind a rail.Just jump on it and your character will start grinding.Story: The story seemed very deep for a skating game, and I was pretty interested in it.There is a multiplayer mode for this game, and I enjoyed it with my younger brother for several months. But once we got other games, this one sat in the closet collecting dust.It was fun for a while, but I'd rather spend my time playing different games.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's a must for the Xbox
i,m not a big video game player but when i played this game a few years ago i fell in love with it... it combines a cool sport strange music of all types and insane japanese pop culture, this game is the epitomy of modern coolness, and gets lots of "street cred" (sounds silly, i know) but if you're an artsy music fan like me , or just a person looking for a hip fun game that has great replay value or one thats just interesting this is a must. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A New Agent
This game includes many possibilities, and is over the top fun. New guns, and new weapons. The Missions are action-packed and very entertaining. New enemies! Here are some tips:

*When playing Capture the Flag, (if two players are playing) Have a person to get the flag, and a person to guard your own.

*When just playing Nightfire Arena, set booby traps such as using a tribomb and locate it down where the feet of a person would be.

*Do not use Heatseeker alot, because this will usually not work the best.

*Use Sentinal gun,(a big dark green one).

(These guns are in explosives 1)

I hope these tips were heplful to you. You should definatly rent it first and then buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Classic James Bond Adventure
This is a great game. If you like James Bond get this game. If you hate games that you beat quickly then get this. The graphicas are great but sometimes a little dark. Nightfire has a great storyline but a stupid ending. Nightfire has a very high replayability because of the multiplayer. This was a great game. From all the high tech gadgets to the abundence of wepons Nightfire is my second favorite Bond game ever.( The best was Goldeneye for n64)

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Game!
This game is great! The scenarios could be a bit better, but the multiplayer is fun. That's the main reason I bought this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars nightfire is an excellent game
I recently just purchased nightfire and to my amazement i was quite pleased. Now the 1st person mode wasn't anything special but the multiplair modes were awesome!!!!!!!!!1

3-0 out of 5 stars Looks amazing... but suprisingly vacuous
So many people have already reviewed this game, I'll keep my comments short. This is the best looking top-down view RPG you're likely to play right now. But under the hood it has tired old RPG mechanics which I lost interest in quite rapidly.

If you can enjoy any RPG regardless of the mechanics or repetititiveness, you will enjoy this game. For me, Dungeon Siege was all style and no substance, and I got bored and never completed it (which is exceptionally rare for me).

4-0 out of 5 stars Dungeon Siege
I played this game for a few days now. It's one of the best fantasy games I played make that one of the best comp games overrall, I got this for my birthday and I was so excited. It starts out with you being a farmer you have to kill enemies and you're given missions in the chapters as you go through the chapters you can get more characters into your fellowship. There are different monsters to defeat in all the different dungeons! Shopping is probably the best part (if you have money of course) I like to make them look buff and awesome! The downside is that the music kind of creeps me out and i get sort of tired of the dungeons get lost now and then run out of health potions, i start to get a little lonely, and i spend an hour or two on something that is kind of worthless, but play it on the weekends! Anyway all in all it's a great game have fun playing it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun at first, but then you realize it's tedious hack & slash
At first I thought this game was great, simple interface, good graphics and a beautifully crafted world to adventure through. But after playing it for a few days I realized that it was mindless hack and slash the whole way through. No strategy, no thought, just sit back and watch the mayhem, occasionally altering what spell you cast or telling your players to drink a potion. Halfway through the game the only thing that has changed from the first hour of play is the statistics and graphics of the monsters. The storyline is very weak and there is no where to go outside of the one linear path through the game.

However, I gave it 2 stars instead of one for the strengths I mentioned above.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seems to be designed with love
It's true that this game is a little short of character development, but I think it more than makes up for it in depth of detail, and it seems to be made by folks who cared about how it came out. One example: the donkey, not an essential character at all. Usually runs away from the bad guys, but sometimes tries to help you fight them by kicking. This easily could have been left out, but they didn't. My wife is hooked. She's playing it right now. We like it!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a blast
I've never been a big fan of D&D type games and, frankly, I'm still not. The one exception is Dungeon Siege. Unlike other games, this doesn't bog you down in the bizarro world of arcane AD&D rules. More importantly, it has more the adventure flow of a classic FPS with little of the horrible, repetetive running back and forth nonsense found in so many other games of the genre.

My only major criticism is that some of the levels did get a little repetetive. For that, it probably deserves 4 1/2 stars, but that's not an option.

One measure of game enjoyment for me is whether I replay the game and how long it is before I do. In this case, I played it through a second time just after finishing the first (I meant to only play the first level to compare character types, but ended up going all the way through.)

2-0 out of 5 stars VERY, VERY, VERY dissapointing
This game is the worst game I have ever played! ok, so not as bad as Syberia for xbox but bad enough that I would rate it 2 stars! even though the storyline is ok, the game ended to quickly. Also, the battle scenes (Harry practicing his magic on the washing machine) was very fake and very boring. The washing machine moved in a pattern all the time so there was no surprise to what it would do next.

If you ever want to play this game, I suggest that you should be able to withstand the annoying save games (you can't allways save the game whenever you want). So go ahead and give it a try if you aren't afraid of wasting your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely fun but too short
ok so basically when I bought this game I couldnt wait to play it. it was really addicting but then all of the sudden I was at the basilisk. all in all, its super fun but its too short. (the quidditch is my favorite part) I ended up beating it in 2 days. I was just disappointed. the voices in this game dont even resemble the real voices of the characters. ok so there's only 6 days and on each day you do 1 class except for like 1 day you do 2 classes. Iwould not recommend this game to people who like slightly challenging games. its cute for little kids but i give it one thumb up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Magic gone WILD!
This game is great. I would question the buttons and handling myself but the magic and action makes up the missiong star. This is a great game for anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute and fun game.
I loved playing Harry and the animation, music, and settings are beautiful. I only wish the teachers played a more important part and Gilderoy exposed like in the book and movie.

Also, Aragog was more tough to beat than the Basilisk, but still I enjoyed this game and have played it many times since.

3-0 out of 5 stars Much Too Short
In three words that really sums it up for me. The game itself is pretty fun, but I ended up beating it in a day because it was just too short. I was also disappointed with the ending being much too easy and hurried. Additionally, I second whoever wrote in their review that the camera angles are just not helpful and that the issue of losing your beans every time you're hit is such a pain. I suppose that was it really.. most of the levels are pretty fun, just not long enough. ... Read more

Amazon.co.uk Review

A sequel which, like its acclaimed predecessor, puts fun right at the top of the agenda, Burnout 2 dispenses with niggling irritants like realism and instead delivers top-class gaming entertainment. So what’s new? Added locations for starters, and the highlights are a twisty road round the Rocky Mountains and an inspired airport-based level. A greater variety of vehicles are available too, and naturally enough you have to balance your need for speed with a vehicle capable of good handling, taking into account the weather and the kind of level you’re racing across.

Yet ultimately, the core of Burnout 2 is still arcade-style racing, and frankly there’s little else that does it better. Burnout 2 is incredibly accessible and an absolute blast to play, whether you’re competing through the suitably enhanced single-player options or hooking up with friends--it’s completely irresistible. Visually, the game looks great and moves very, very quickly. The action too is interspersed with elaborate crashes, and when you do hit something you shouldn’t, at least you’re rewarded with an action replay for your trouble.

Negatives? Genuinely very few. Those who prefer their driving games flavored with a bit more realism are going to be happier with a Gran Turismo game than this, and in spite of some good improvements and additions, there aren’t enormous differences between this and the original, despite the fact that a lot more has been added to it.

These are nothing more than very minor niggles though. Easily one of the most downright enjoyable games of recent times, Burnout 2 is an exemplary piece of gaming entertainment, and a welcome antidote to the growing band of games that just take themselves far too seriously. Treat yourself. You’ll be glad you did. --Simon Brew ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wait for the NEXT BURNOUT
This is for people that like driving really fast. This game is quite tense because you don't know if your going to crash into a car when you turn that corner. Sometimes you get frustrated by it. People are saying it gets boring but that happens with every great game. When I get a new game I play it(for first 10 days) nearly all day like for 12 hours and thats why I get bored of games like over people. People say it makes you sweat and grin and that's true.

3-0 out of 5 stars It Gets Boring after a while
Burnout 2 is ok. It gets really boring after you played it 20 times. All you do is crash cars and race. Its grafics are ok. There not the best. You should rent it or borrow it from somebody its not worth 20 dollars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
I never play such an exciting & realistic driving game before. This totally beats out the GT series! It keeps you busy on non-stoping driving excitment.

5-0 out of 5 stars MOST FUN RACING GAME I'VE SEEN YET!
I have played a lot of racing games and none of them captivated me like this one. When I first played it it was ok until my first crash. The realism and graphics on the crashes are amazing. It shows windows cracked and glass all over the place and unbelievably real damage done to the cars. The crash or destruction mode is awesome because is sets you up in perfect places to cause some serious devestation where the goal is to cause as much damage as possible. The first one sends you down a hill into an extrememly busy intersection full of suvs, semi-trucks, small coupe cars and many more. You just plow through and fly up totaling your car and causing a 9+ car pile up with mass meyhem. This is the best racing game I have ever played! Without a doubt you should pick this game up because I know you'll be going back to the crash mode again and again. Definately 5 stars!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely fun!
I have always wanted to play a racing game that focused on the crashses as well as the regular game play. I like to see things destroyed, whether they are in movies, tv shows, even video games. When it comes to crashes in other racing games that I have played, they keep keep the POV (point of view) where your driving POV is. Then this game comes along, and during the crashes, it takes you to a 3rd party bystander POV (more like a movie, actually) so you can see all the horrible devastating effects your crash just had! :) The crashes are put into slow motion, just like the movies! Plus, the general game play is great, just like any other arcade racing game.

For the negatives (which aren't many): Though it doesn't matter to me on this particular game (although it may to some), you can't customize your cars.

More positives: There are 3 modes of gameplay. First, complete a set of races to open up more races, areas, and cars. Second, a pursuit mode. Although they should've taken more energy points away for harder the hits on the car instead of one energy point per hit, you get to pursue a car and hit him with your car until their energy bar is to nothing. Hurry up though, you have a short time (at least 4 miles) to reduce the energy bar to nil.

Third positve (and my favorite): Crash. You get to choose any car you want, the boost bar is always filled up for you, and you go out and make as big a mess as possible. Great for blowing off steam after that person just cut you off on the road coming home tonight, or any other incident you may get road raged about.

Absolutely fun game, and with only $20, you can't go wrong! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good game by Legolas.
Those negative reviews are W-R-O-N-G WRONG! This in fact is a
G-R-E-A-T G-A-M-E GREAT GAME! There 10 levels (so I read.) in this game. The best character mustbeWindu! he's NOT my favorite character but his performance is awesone! when you kill an alien-ish dude there sort of an "ugh" sound.(I think.) what stinks is that there's no save feature BUT there's dumb pass-code feature. This might something good to bring on that 5 hour trip to summer vaction :D

3-0 out of 5 stars NO CONTROL
This game is really awesome in some ways but in other it stinks. For example: The weapons, characters and moves are sweeeeet. But you can bearly see what you are doing. The lighting is AWEFUL. This game may be fun to play for about 3 days but then the problems get in the way. This game also has almost NO CONTROL. The controls stink. Do not even think about jumping because it is impossible. Most of the game is based on jumping from platform to platform. There are little guys that stand on the platform that you can not kill from you current position so you try jumping and end up beening pushed off by them. Very Frusterating. The saving on this game is also a big issue. The game gives you codes that are like 5-15 letters long so they are really hard to write down and get correct. I was almost about to beat the game but the code I wrote down was incorrect so I LOST!!!!!!! Other than all that this game is pretty decent. Do not think I am a totally killing this game I just choose to state the problems. It just was not my favorite. So enjoy this game!

2-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Controls
First of all, I am a huge Star Wars fan. That said... This game looks like it would be a neat game and I'm sure it would...IF the play control was decent, but it's not. This has the worst play control out of every GBA game that I've played so far.Jumping is nearly impossible to do accurately. That alone makes the game far too difficult and bothersome to play.Things happen to my character all of the time. For example: I want to jump out and to an angle to jump to another platform, but the dumb thing jumps straight up and then I fall straight down into a pit.End of Life.THQ should have spent more time making the play control better or not released it at all. This game is a real disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars super great
this is one of the best games i ever.thelevels are very great I can play it all day long. You shold get this game today.
