Amazon.com Review A working knowledge of college playbooks can be very helpful as the sets here are often highly complex. The producers have added a slew of subtle but significant features to simulate the game's nuances as well: a quarterback's accuracy greatly improves when his feet are set; you can totally hide your play-calling by holding down the X button and scrolling through decoy plays; you can anticipate using a spin move on offense by hitting the O button before contact; and you can use the analog sticks (as opposed to the directional buttons) to run with the ball (and in maximum passing mode, you can add zip or a lob touch while also adjusting throws in the air). The graphics--including players, stadiums, the ESPN-style presentation, and game intro--are all top-notch. With 117 Division I-A teams at your disposal, devoted players can play full seasons (complete with rankings and bowl selections) or, in legacy mode, multiple seasons, going so far as recruiting high schoolers and running spring drills. The major drawback here is the no-name announcing team, a flat-out terrible crew offering an endless stream of stupid jokes and poor analysis. But you'll have the sound off and the stereo spinning anyway. --Marc Greilsamer Pros: Cons: Reviews (17)

Amazon.com Product Description Reviews (9)
Graphic fortunately, this is an aspect of MLS Extratime 2002 that wasn't royally [messed] up. Although the player models aren't as good as EA's FIFA, MLS's face models are much more superior. The players really look very similar to the real life counterparts. The animation of the character is done pretty well and the stadium environments are better the EA's FIFA. The Compute AI stinks in this game. I'm beating the computer defenders like they were drugged up before the game. Also it's so easy to score on the computer goalie. Just do the same move over and over again, cut in out and shoot, works every time. Pretty soon I was crushing the computer 10 to 0. I swear there's more scoring in this game than there is in hockey, which is not realistic. The game feels very arcade like because of this. MLS Extra time may be presented like a real ESPN TV soccer match but in no way does it accurately depicts what goes on in a real soccer game. This is a great game if you don't care for realism in your soccer game.
Good news - if you're a big MLS fan - it has all the stadiums and players. But, I like my international play, and hate EA's FIFA series. What am I to do?

Amazon.com Review The biggest addition is the revert, which when combined with the manualintroduced in the previous game, lets players string together some amazing vertand grind combos. Once again, every ledge you see in the game is grindable, andthe massive levels are packed with switches, hidden areas, and other secretsthat will take months to fully explore (and exploit). Things are a little on the chunky side graphically, but that's to be expected.Regardless, the animation is smooth and the frame rate stays high despite theenormous and complex environments this game lets players explore. The eclecticsoundtrack--which features acts ranging from the Ramones to Del the FunkyHomosapien--is another highlight, but it's still the Zenlike feeling you getfrom chaining together combo after outrageous combo that keeps you coming backfor more. --T. Amazon.com Review The game was developed by Jellyvision, famous for its irreverent You Don't Know Jack series of trivia games. Although the designers didn't have much to work with considering how Spartan the set of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire is, they did a masterful job of simulating both the mechanics and the drama of the television show, wrapping everything up in a slick interface that is immediately recognizable. It seems impossible that players could feel any tension playing Who Wants To Be a Millionaire: 2nd Edition when no real money is at stake, but the game's perfect pacing did a nice job of at least making us think we were playing for cash. That's because it doesn't deliver an immediate response when a question is answered. Just as in the game show, if you answer a question quickly host Regis Philbin will confirm or reject your answer quickly. As the game progresses and the questions get tougher there is more of a pause between your answer and the confirmation. Regis will make some comments, sometimes offering you the chance to change your mind by asking the now grating "Is that your final answer?" as the show's music and a drum roll build tension in the background. The delays were surprisingly unnerving, making us constantly second-guess our answers. Should a question prove too tough you can always fall back on your three lifelines. The designers polled 50 random people to provide data for the "Ask the Audience" lifeline, and The Reege's friends dispense audio advice for the "Phone a Friend" option. Of course, the 50/50 lifeline is also available. All these elements coalesce to form a surprisingly fun trivia game, and one of the few available that is more fun to play solo than with a group of friends (although playing cooperatively with a few buddies can be fun). Games rarely take more than 20 minutes, so it's perfect for a quick trivia fix--we just wish it came with more questions. Guess we'll have to wait for the flood of sequels that is sure to follow. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (9)

In the game, now this is where the playstation is showing it's age. The loading speed is VERY ANNOYING. The questions are repetitive after awhile. The phone a friend dialogues are amazingly cool and funny. Regis adds a few wise cracks and you got a less than average game. Not worth buying but go for a rental. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review Graphically, Caesars Palace 2000 takes full advantage of the Dreamcast'scapabilities, with tables so sharp you can feel the felt, excellently animatedshuffles and deals, and authentically marked chips and cards. The odds at this casino were verified by math analyst William Bertram, and areas realistic as in any physical gambling hall. For this reason, if you don'tusually leave Las Vegas overflowing with winnings, don't expect to be winningevery hand at Caesars Palace 2000. On the other hand, this realism makesthe game a perfect practice ground for gambling in the real world. The game'stutorial advice, although offered usually only after a goof, is accurate andprecise--a perfect primer for learning new games. The only major drawback to the game is its speed. As devotees of computersolitaire know, the beauty of card games on a video system is that there's noneed for shuffling or actually dealing the cards. That said, Caesars Palace2000 maintains realism by showing shuffles and deals, but these detract fromgameplay by slowing the time between hands. This slowness is particularlyobvious in the slot machines. --Benjamin Reese Pros: Reviews (5)
The manual does list some basic rules for the numerous games, and offers a help-as-you-play kind of assistance, but Caesar's Palace 2000 will not teach you casino gaming. Not by itself. To appreciate Caesar's Palace 2000, you will have to have been familiar with the casino environment as well as the particular game you are playing, or you seriously want to become familar with them. And by casino environment, I mean *playing* environment. No scantily clad cocktail servers, neon signs or flashing lights are to be had, but the tables and machines are dead on. As real as any I've ever seen, outside of an actual casino. Caesar's Palace 2000 is a serious casino simulation, for those interested in serious casino gaming. The value in this title for the single player is a realistic training environment for casino gaming. But you will need other instructional aid, such as some of the the numerous gambling tutorial books and videos widely available. If you're armed with some of these, Caesar's Palace 2000 will prove to be an excellent teacher for two reasons. One is, the mathematics, or 'odds', for the various games are verified as accurate by William Bertram, Ph.D. And reason number two is, the game puts forth a very realistic 'feel' to the casino gaming simulation. But you can only appreciate it if you've actually sat at a roulette, craps, blackjack table, or played another casino game. If you have not, you will miss the subtlety of the 3D rendered tables and gaming areas, and the associated background noise and voices. Everything in this game is designed to maintain the players' focus on actual casino gaming of the serious variety (and when money is at stake, what other varieties are there?) This game will also have very high value as a party game, because it supports up to four players. Of course, the four players will need to be familiar with actual casino gaming for most of the games included. It should be noted that there is a very strict warning during the game's intro that this product is not to be used for gambling in any way, and that it is highly illegal to do so. But I also have to state that with the accurate math and the authentic tables and machines included, it certainly could be used for gambling. In fairness, though, Caesar's Palace 2000 does have a lighter side, with an almost-normal video game aspect to it. This is done via a levels-based money and wagering system, where the player must attain a certain degree of proficiency in any particular game before he is able to bet larger amounts. All of the graphics, equipment, and game rules are authentically Caesar's Palace based, and as such they are quite classy. The animation is flawless, and the voice-overs by the dealers and croupiers are very realistic. The background noise and the sounds of the cards and machines are dead-on. In particular, the lighting of the several table and card game layouts is fantastic. This game is a winner for the more serious casino gamer, or for anyone who would like to train or play in an authentic casino environment. Anyone else, though, will probably want to pass this title by.
Graphics: Tables and machines are sharp and really quite impressive. No slowdown is noticed at all. As mentioned earlier it would have been nice to feel like you weren't alone. Each game is just a black void around the actual game. Even if you just saw carpet below when you are looking down at a table or people standing around cheering you on in Craps, as an example, would have been nice. Sound: The dealers sound very good and use the actual catch phrases for each game. Craps is especially fun to hear. There is however some redundancy and most of the voices sound staged instead of spontaneous but are in no way bad. There is also variety in that it's not always the same voices assigned to games. It can vary from male to female each time you come back and there also are differences in dialect such as a British voice for example. The machines however sound too much the same to me.

Editorial Review All of the gameplay elements found in the original Pac-Man arepresent here. Eat the dots. Avoid the ghosts. Grab a power pellet.Gobble those ghosts! Still, Ms. Pac-Man added many new twiststo the Pac-Man series--and they are all faithfully re-createdhere. There are multiple mazes to conquer and several new fruit prizesto consume. As always, you can use warp tunnels to quickly pass fromone side of the maze to the other, and view cut-scenes once certainlevels are bypassed. The controls are extremely responsive, lettingyou ditch those pesky ghosts with ease. As if Ms. Pac-Man wasn't enough, Namco also threw in a copy ofSuper Pac-Man, which adds even more features to the gameplay. Both versions can be played from either a zoomed-out perspective thatdisplays the entire maze, or a zoomed-in view that has much bettergraphics but displays only about a quarter of the maze at a time. Thisis a good translation of a revered classic that is likely to spendmuch time in your Game Boy Color. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Reviews (15)
THE GOOD: THE BAD: OVERALL:
Along with the Ms. Pacman game I have just described, there is also Super Pacman, a great added bonus! Super Pacman comes with Ms. Pacman, but it is a completely different game that involves using keys to unlock Pac Dots. Sadly, it is also very repetitive and the high scores still don't save! But overall, Ms. Pacman for Gameboy Color is an awsome game that can add hours of entertainment to a boring car ride, and it definitly deserves to be bought!
