2-0 out of 5 stars save your money unless you're a masochist
Like many before me, I give mixed reviews because this is both good and bad.The bad outweighs the good overall because the bad is so, well, BAD!I thought the music and graphics were gorgeous.I found the cursor was difficult to use.It took me two or three tries and reinstalls to realise the problem was you needed to swing the cursor left and right to get a response.Bizarre.I found the puzzles had no relation to the environment, and that really put me off.I spent a few hours and solved the first two puzzles by guesswork. That is not what I want the game for; I want to use the old noodle, but not merely guess. It almost seemed random, but since I didn't go through it all, I cannot say for certain if that were the case or not.Overall, any of the Myst games would be preferable.

2-0 out of 5 stars I HATED THIS GAME
I bought this game from the "bargain bin" not realizing that there was a DVD version of the game - in the long run it probably would not have made a difference. With the CD-ROM details are fuzzy. I'm sure this game is beautiful with the DVD version since there are some spectacular colors even on the CD-ROM. In any case, this does not take away from the fact that I loathed this game.

In Schizm there are two characters - Sam and Hannah. At times you play Sam, other times Hannah. One of the difficulties is knowing who to play when. As we all know, there is a lot of running around in adventure games. That's just the nature of the genre and true to form, there's a lot of back and forth to various locations. That's OK but sometimes you have to do this with both characters - the exact same locations, essentially repeating all that running around. But that wasn't what did me in.

What did me in were the puzzles. I'm not big on puzzles that don't seem to have any relation to the story. In other words, finding clues, putting them together and solving the puzzle. No - some of these were random puzzles. Just keep on plugging in numbers over and over again until you come up with the right combination. The puzzle that truly tried my sanity was a maze-type puzzle - basically finding a route from one place to another while the game blocks your moves eventually cutting you off from reaching the end. The puzzle is random so it's a new route everytime. It's not as easy as it sounds. I probably attempted this puzzle 30-40 times until I got it right. But guess what...you don't have to do this one time, but twice and you have to get it right two times in a row. One walkthrough (I had to use three different ones) stated that if you kept track of your moves on the first successful attempt all you had to do was repeat the results on the second try - nope. Oh but guess what??? Once you are successful with this puzzle, you get to go to another location and do the exact same puzzle again. Sorry - not me. That's when I quit. I was able to finished 3/4 of this horrible game but I just couldn't go on.

I would only recommend this game if you are some kind of masochist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very difficult game, but rewarding in the end
I bought Schizm: Mysterious Journey just solely on the graphics I saw on the package and this was one game I do not regret buying. I only have the CD-ROM version, but I understand it is only made better if you get the DVD-ROM. Even if the graphics on the CD-ROM isn't the sharpest, I was still very impressed with many of the surrealistic landscapes. Also, it's much better to have all five discs installed, as it would avoid you the hassle of having to swipe discs as you travel new places. It took me an hour to give all five discs installed on my system, but then you don't have to worry about that again, and it makes things so much easier never having to changes discs. This game originated in Poland, but for us North American users, was translated to English. As it turns out the comparisons to the MYST series can't be avoided. You have to solve many puzzles to get places, just as you do MYST. Some puzzles are random (like getting the fish-like balloon craft inflated and ready for flight). Yes, many of these puzzles are very difficult, and unless you're a rocket scientist, you're probably going to need a walkthrough. Be sure to write things down on paper as you go along. This game is not for novices, but for those wanting a challenge, go for Schizm.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don'tbother! Just throw your money away instead!
I purchased thsi game in the discount section of a local retailer thinking I would have a good alternative to the usual first person shooter clones that are flooding the market.

After starting up the game and watching the two main characters do their thing It became quickly apparent that no matter what I tried to do the curser indicated that no action was possible for me.

I guesss the game consists of installing it, watching the intro, and then uninstalling it.Not as I expected at all.

Moreover the game is unsupported. My copy is in the trash now!

I Wish I had the money I spent on it instead!

In my opinion a genuine Rip Off!

1-0 out of 5 stars Schizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzm
This game is of minor interest only if you've ever spent any time staring at a Yes album cover by Roger Dean and thought: "what would it be like to walk around in there?"But then the meandering gets very tedious, the puzzles get more and more convlouted, the crappy graphics start to lose thier luster, etc etc.Someone PLEASE tell me that MYST is better than this(?) ... Amazon.com Review

There was a point in time when baseball video games for the larger, morepowerful console systems made the jump from arcade action based loosely on thesport to more direct simulation. All-Star Baseball 2003 nearly makes thatleap for the Game Boy Advance--it's fun, good-looking, and you'll be surprisedat how much detail they've packed into the little cart.

If you've played any of theAll-Star Baseballgames for the consoles, you'll be familiar with the controls. The 3-Dbatting cursor, which tilts from left to right so you can pull the ball or slapit to the opposite field, is the same, though there's no hit-for-power option. The game also takes on the series' cumbersome baserunning controls. It'sdifficult to pull off a steal, but it can be done--which is better than on mosthandheld baseball games. One improvement is the tracking system for fielders, which draws a yellow dotted line between the fly ball and your outfielder. Thisis a big help, especially for such a small screen. There's also an auto-fieldingoption for those who would rather not bother.

The game gets a lot of mileage out of the GBA graphics thanks to some nice 2-Dbackdrops of all the MLB stadiums. Just don't expect Nomar Garciaparra's typicalantics in the batter's box or Jeff Nelson's sidearm delivery. You can play andsave full or half seasons--simulating any number of these games--or simply playa three-game series. The game even lets you manage your lineups for regular andinterleague play and set your pitching rotation.

The game suffers, however, from some poor timing. Like most ASB games, hittersare at a disadvantage, as the pitches come to the plate too quickly to get agood read on them. Also, throws are disproportionately faster thanbase runners--we were able to turn a double play before we even had the controlsdown, and numerous shallow outfield hits ended with our runner getting thrownout at first.

Overall, though, this is a great sports game for the GBA--a category that hasbeen poorly served for the unit in the past. --Porter B. Hall

Pros:

  • Great graphics
  • Full-season play with auto simulation
  • Team management functions, such as lineup cards and pitching rotations
Cons:
  • Cumbersome baserunning
  • Odd timing issues

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your money, unless you get it for $5
Graphics: The graphics are OK, except for one thing: Every player looks the same!(except for having different skin color)
The teams all have the same color, also.

Gameplay: Unless you put it on Hard (All-Star), the game is way to easy. If you tilt the batting target a certain way, you can get a hit 90% of the time. As for pitching, just pitch to a corner, and you'll get an out almost every time. Plus the baserunning is totally messed up.

Special Features: If you're getting this game for the special features in the console version, don't. There is no create-a-player, or Hall-of-Fame team. The only thing it has are trading cards, which serve no purpose.

BOTTOM LINE: Too easy, gets boring quickly, no good extras,
players and teams all look the same.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak
I was really looking forward to playing this game, but it left me wanting more. The graphics are great, but it's extremely difficult to hit the ball, which other reviewers have pointed out as well. Sure, it's good to have a challenge, but this is just too difficult. The pitching and fielding is easy to master, but hitting--which in a video game is 95% of the fun--is just too damn hard. Save your money.

This should be picked up right now!!! I know the baserunning is a bit bad, but that's basically all of the flops. At the beginning you might think it's imossible to hit , but you just have to get used to it. And the fielding feature is a very to use.

Editorial Review

Even if you're not fond of sports titles in general, the simplepick-up-and-play feel and speedy on-court action in VirtuaTennis make it a worthy addition to any game library. Sega did anexcellent job making sure even those unfamiliar with the rules andstrategy of tennis will be able to jump right into the game. With alittle practice you can pop lobs, perform an overhead smash, or evenreturn the ball with a through-the-legs trick shot.

Starting the game presents three game modes. Arcade mode is a directtranslation of the coin-operated arcade game in which you must defeatfive challengers in order to win a championship. Exhibition mode allowsyou to choose a player and then challenge any of the other availabletennis players in singles or doubles matches. World Circuit mode caststhe player as a tennis superstar, touring the world and competing forheaps of cash and worldwide rank.

If you're looking to play as one of the top tennis aces in the world, you're going to be disappointed. No Sampras, Agassi, or any othertennis giants are to be found. Rather, you're stuck with 16 smallernames including Jim Courier, Carlos Moyà, and YevgenyKafelnikov. Despite the recent boom in popularity, the women's tenniscircuit is unfortunately completely absent.

Sega's presentation and graphics are very well done and could almost bemistaken for a real televised match. Details such as the crowds, linejudges, and instant replays look stunning. It's a shame that VirtuaTennis doesn't feature the famous venues and tournaments of realtennis, but the game's imitation stadiums in England, New York, andFrance look close enough to be recognizable. The player graphics arefantastic. Each player displays plenty of detail in everything fromfacial expressions to sneaker logos. Both the TV-style overhead viewand the behind-the-shoulder viewpoints feature animation that's almostalways ultrasmooth and is guaranteed to keep your eyes glued to thescreen. --Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • Amazing graphics
  • Easy to play yet hard to master
Cons:
  • You can play as real tennis players, but not as tennis superstars
  • Strictly arcade--not particularly deep gameplay

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Tennis Game Ever Created for Sega Dreamcast!
This is one of the best tennis games ever created for the Sega Dreamcast.

Graphics: 10/10- Game takes FULL advantage of Sega Dreamcast's Graphics

Gameplay: 10/10- It feels like you really are playing tennis.

Difficulty: VARIES- You can choose the difficulty level that suits you best by going to the options menu.

Overall- 10/10 - If you own a Dreamcast, this is a must-have.

1-0 out of 5 stars doesn't workwith Windows XP
I ordered this game, but cannot make any comments about it because I haven't played it yet. Why? Because the damn thing doesn't function with Windows XP!I have tried everything, am an experienced computer user, have played other PC tennis games, but for some reason, it is not compatible with XP. If someone out there can give me some information on how to use this game with XP, I wish you would e-mail me at jrryns@syd.eastlink.ca...on the box it says that it IS compatible with XP, but I'll believe it when I see it ..... I would like to use it with Microsoft Sidewinder plug n play, but I can't even get out of the starting gate. If you are using this game with Windows, please send me as much detailed description of how to get it going as you can.....Jerlaw

5-0 out of 5 stars intoxicating mix of speed, action and eye candy
Virtua Tennis is a pixel-perfect translation of the arcade hit. In addition, the game features a number extras designed for the port over to Dreamcast. The result is a very fun gaming experience.

Like Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis sports a number of extras in addition to the arcade port. Included in the Dreamcast version are: arcade mode, exhibition mode, and world circuit mode. World Circuit Mode is most challenging as you travel the world taking part in trial matches earning money and buying items such as equipment or doubles' partners. Your techniques are also sharpened in various training stages such as the pin crasher, where the bowling pins must be knocked down with serves.

Virtua Tennis is an intoxicating mix of speed, action and eye candy. Even if Sega had done a simple port of the arcade game, Virtua Tennis would have warranted a purchase. However, they have thrown in the extra modes to warrant a MUST buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars i didn't think i'd like it
I have to admit I was rather surprised i liked this game. When my brother gave me his Dreamcast, this was one of the games he gave me along with it. I'm not a fan of watching tennis, and I can't play worth anything. But the game turned out to be fun. Like most of the Dreamcast sports games, it isn't too difficult for a player like me (one who doesn't play all the time and isn't a phenomenal player). The graphics are nice, and game play is easy to figure out and really works well. There is a save option and the game turns out to be quite fun. I say yes if you are asking whether or not to pick up this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweetnicity
I just bought this game today and overall it is a good buy. The only problem with the game seems to be that there are no tennis superstars such as Agassi or Sampras. Whats even worst is that there are no chicks, no Ana Kournikova! Otherwuys, even if you dont like tennis, this game is addictive and easy to play. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness takes the original formula and updatesit for the new millennium. The most striking change is the game's new 3-Dorientation. The play is expanded, but it is largely based on the original.Maze Madness involves a weird story of gems being scattered throughoutPac-Land. A witch is after the gems, so you must find them all before shedoes.

Maze Madness is a bit of a misleading title, because while the game doesinvolve mazes, it's the puzzles that will stop your progress. Most of thepuzzles aren't that hard, but a few will stump you for a bit. There are blocksto push, TNT to explode, and springboards that propel you upward.

Players are awarded stars for completing different tasks, such as finding allthe fruit in a level, munching all the pellets in a level, or beating the levelin time-trial mode. Initially, earning one star per level will get you to thenext stage, but you must go back and earn more stars to unlock later levels.

Maze Madness' graphics are smooth and crisp, but they aren't verydetailed. The game has the look and feel of a cartoon's minimal lightingeffects. Ms. Pac-Man herself is just a round polygonal sphere with sometextures, arms, and legs glued on. There are a few particle effects in the titlethat look very good, but Namco didn't do too much else to tax the Dreamcast'sgraphics abilities.

Where this game excels is in the level design. A puzzle game like this is madeor broken on the ingenuity of the levels. Also, Maze Madness featuressome multiplayer options, which, combined with its simple, family-friendlygameplay, makes it an excellent choice for a party game. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Extremely simple yet addicting gameplay

  • Graphics are a little too simple

4-0 out of 5 stars Clean fun for the family and a dying breed of games
There should be more games like Ms Pac Man out there. Its clean fun and a great game. If you want a good, challenging and most of all FUN game then its made for you.

Go get it you won't regret it and pick up Frogger 2 while you're at it, they're both mad fun

Great graphics, great sound and challenging (you gotta think to beat this one)!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun for the Whole Family
I bought this game, wondering if it was similar to the retro-Centipede.It was better in many ways.Like Centipede, you can play either the classic version or the new.Personally, I like the new game better. The music is superior, the graphics are good, and the adventure theme makes the game more challenging than the "antique".
The object of the game is to eat all the dots and collect all the fruit. This isn't an easy feat. There are several gadgets you have to work to get around in the levels. Those are easy to learn, thanks to the tutorial in the first level. Not only do you have to avoid/eat the ghosts, but there are other nasty creatures as well, such as exploding bottle rockets (in the China Town level), feral cats (in the Ice level), and guard dogs (in the Haunted House level). When you complete each level, you have the option of playing a bonus game or moving on to the next level. What's more, you can either play the Quest level or the Timed level. The latter involves getting Ms. Pac-Man through the maze in a minute or two.For experienced gamers, this isn't a problem. For novice users, it will prove more frustrating.
The haunted house level was my favorite. There were so many monsters and pitfalls that it kept me entertained for hours.I found that if I kept going in full circle, I was able to collect everything. What frustrated me in the other levels was that I couldn't get to all the dots and fruits, which is needed to earn a star, which determines whether or not you can go to the next level.I learned that there were secret doors, but sometimes I couldn't access them. Then there was the issue of the controls. The slightest push could send Ms. Pac-Man to her doom. There were many times where I lost a life because I had moved the controller one way, but went the other. That didn't matter because you can go back to the previous level and collect more health/life icons.By the time I finished the game, I had collected more than 150 lives.
Despite the frustrations, this is a very good game the whole family will enjoy.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Addictive
I thought this game was the best! If i could i would have played it for hours on end-though some of the puzzles can be annoyingly hard-that gives the game texture. Along with the fact that there are many different courses to go alonge the maze. For retro loves there is also the first one and fun multiplayer games.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun to play
Fun and simple gameplay, with complex moves to make and puzzles to solve. You must journey to save the Princess while on your way face mindless enemies.Rather than a fixed map, you can traverse the many lands and secret chambers in 3-d perspective, up-down-sideways etc.Collect items and power pellets, replenish your health with hearts, and defeat the evil Wicked Witch. The breathtaking soundtrack, cinematics and mini-games will make your twenty-bucks seem worth it.This game is great for all ages, but there's only a one player mode.I give a 4.5 star rating.(that rounds up to 5, oh well)

5-0 out of 5 stars A true classic!
Even more fun than when I was a kid.It does have multi-player capability which is nice, but the solo adventure is good for hours of fun. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Every now and then a game is released that redefines genres and raisesthe bar for the competition. Frogger: The Great Quest is not one of thosegames. In fact, it's so bad that it just might set game development back 20years. While the 1981 arcade game Frogger was a simple, enjoyable, addictive experience, this title is a banal and uninspired 3-D platform gamethat preys on the nostalgic feelings of those who enjoyed the arcade original. There are many superior 3-D platformers available on the market, as well as manyFrogger games more in tune with the initial title.

The game has Frogger on a quest to find a princess who can transform him into ahuman through a kiss. The developers attempt to mimic the 3-D platform action ofgames like Crash Bandicoot and Rayman, but fail to deliver on manyfronts: the controls are unresponsive, the camera system is infuriating, and thegraphics suffer from clipping and frame-rate problems. Players can beat the gamein fewer than five hours, and it would be a lot shorter if the load timesweren't so horribly long. One of the few positives is that the game's 15 levelsare quite picturesque; that is to say the game looks good when nothing ismoving. Players nostalgic for Frogger fun will be better served by theexcellent Frogger's Adventures:Temple of the Frog for Game Boy Advance. --Raymond M. Padilla

  • Colorful levels

  • Horrible controls and camera
  • Lots of clipping and frame-rate slowdown

1-0 out of 5 stars Frogger the greatly annoying quest
I think that many fans of the arcade style games will be disappointed in this game because it simply lacks the cuteness held by its pc counterparts. There aren't really any perks to this game;we find our cute adult frog hero and his family (including a wife and countless children) replaced by an annoying adolescent frog that, while finally being able to swim (unlike in the other games), is lame on a level that issimalar to watching a dog chase its tail for 98 hours. Flimsy graphics give the feeling that the game was released too soon (along with the nausea that comes with the freaky camera).

So let us take a moment of silence to mourn our beloved cute Frogger (voice sounds as if from above "Let us never forget that cute little guy who recued babies from peril, or that arcade format we know and love, or all those direct directions .We will miss you Frogger we will miss you!"...)well the new one STILL stinks so save your money and buy a Spyro or Crash (Bandicoot) game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This game was great for me - but I'm new to 3-D adventure games.Until recently I was playing on a Gameboy Color and avoiding all games in 3-D because they made me dizzy. This game is paced slowly enough that I can actually get used to 3-D gameplay. It's alot of fun but the graphics don't always keep up with the action, several times I've been stuck in a wall for a few seconds because the view didn't update quickly enough. It's also not what I expected when I heard "Frogger", I thought I was getting an updated version of the original but it's really a different game playing on the Frogger name.Even so I really like the game and recommend it to those looking for something a little slower-paced.

2-0 out of 5 stars Terrible game!
This PS2 game is pretty bad.The storyline is rather stupid.I found the graphics to be colorful but overall not that great. Also, you spend a lot of time swimming in rivers and waterfalls, but there is NO sound of flowing water!I played this game for about an hour before giving up on it.Maybe little kids will like the colorful, cartoony graphics, but that's about it.Definitely not worth buying to add to your library.Rent it instead if you really want to play it.

1-0 out of 5 stars an embarrassment to sony and to playstation 2
i rented this game when my 11 year old (girl) cousin came over. we both agreed, this game is terrible. and this is from my cousin who is a huge frogger fan and owns every PC frogger game. even though this game is only $$, it isn't worth a penny. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS GAME! here are a list of GREAT games that are also only $$ and are rated "E" for everybody (kid appropriate).

GRAN TURISMO 3(realistic racing simulator)
PAC MAN WORLD 2 (platformer)
ATV OFF ROAD FURY (ATV off-road racing)
SSX TRICKY(snowboarding racing)
NAMCO MUSEUM(4 classic namco arcade games on one disc)
CRASH BANDICOOT THE WRATH OF CORTEX (warning: very long load times, but the game itself is a good platformer.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Bleah!
This game stinks!I dan't know why they would make a game as bad as this.I reccomend Barbie's Horse Racing Video Game instead of this and I'm a boy!
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
Oops! Sorry for the inconvienence. This game doesn't have any Pros!

Cons:

Resident Evil: Gaiden features well-known characters Barry Burton and Leon Kennedy in a game that combines the survival-horror and first-person-shooter genres. It includes three playable characters: Barry Burton, Leon Kennedy, and the new character, Lucia. Dramatic slide-show animations provide background. The challenging gameplay includes such actions as finding keys, putting out fires, and switching on power generators. It also features all of the mind-bending puzzles that players have come to expect from the Resident Evil series. As players explore, they view their character and surroundings in 3-D isometric view. When battles take place, the action shifts to first-person mode. With strong graphics and a detailed story line, Resident Evil: Gaiden offers an unusually deep experience for the portable console.

The story begins inside the hideout of the legendary S.T.A.R.S. elite attack force as one of the original members, Barry Burton, discusses a distressing problem with a mysterious elderly woman. A new type of B.O.W. (Bio Organic Weapon) has been developed by the insidious Umbrella Corporation and is believed to be onboard the luxury cruise liner Starlight. Starlight has already begun its voyage to Europe and now rests somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic. Leon S. Kennedy, the star of Resident Evil 2, was assigned to eliminate the B.O.W. His last communication confirmed that he was aboard the Starlight, but he hasn't been heard from since. In addition, Barry can't figure out why a poem he learned as a child suddenly has returned to him: "I loathe the ocean and the secrets it holds, forever deep, dark, and cold." Have the horrors of Raccoon City returned? ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars NnyCW for Capcom City
Probably the most unknown Resident Evil game of them all, solely for it appearing on the GBC. The game plays like a 3rd person adventure, then when in combat with a zombie or creature, switches to a first person view where you your shots to choose where to shoot them. Overall, for a Resident Evil game, it isn't the best. But for a Game Boy Color game, this is one of the best. So, if for some reason you've never played a handheld more advanced than the original Game Boy or the Game Boy Color or if you're a diehard Resident Evil fan, you'll enjoy it. Otherwise, you could probably find a better way to spend your money. NnyCW for CapCity

1-0 out of 5 stars Resident Evil Gaiden
This is the worst resident evil game. The character used was... wow... undescribeable (in a bad way.) The game is not really good, it's super boring.

2-0 out of 5 stars You sould not buy this.
Gameboy was not a good choice for a Revil game.

2-0 out of 5 stars GBC Features A Weak Resident Evil Charpter
The game features Barry Burton from Resident Evil (and he also appears in a bit of Resident Evil 2) and Leon Scott Kennedy (Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4).
The story tells that Leon S. Kennedy went to a ship called Starlight and that, somehow, he got lost... So Barry has to come to that ship to find out where Leon is and to rescue him.. He discovers that the ship is full of zombies and some B.O.W.s, because the Umbrella Corp. put their dirty hands on that ship.. Barry also finds a survivor, who is named Lucia. And she'll help him to find Leon and whoever else is there...
- Graphics: I must say this was one of the few games I've played on the Game Boy Color, so I can't really compare... But, for all I've seen (not that much), the graphics are good for that plataform... They try to work with shadows and stuff... Well, they did what they could...But the character looks horrible.. Not detailed at all.. Even enemies are more detailed.
- Sound: The music isn't very good... You feel like it's the same one in the whole game.. Game Boy Color is not a powerful console for graphics nor sound... Talking about the few melodies in this game, I think they're Ok.. But can't be compared with any other Resident Evil game. You get sick of them.
- Fun: This is not a masterpiece. It's very far from it. You can beat the game once, but you're probally not going to play it again... Because it's not very scary without the soundtrack (which has always been a great point in Resident Evil games) and with bad graphics
- Educative: This is the only Teen-classified Resident Evil game... All the others are Mature-classified. The thing here has no big deal.. Some blood, violence.. You're killing zombies, anyway... You're not killing any human or any good guy.. You're killing biological weapons and zombies.. I think you parents don't have to worry about it...

After all, this game is disappointing. I only suggest you to buy it if you're a hardcore Resident Evil fan or if you're a GBC game collector. It's a great title for GBC - who has no big titles.

4-0 out of 5 stars BOO!
Horrible! I love the resident evil games, but this one sucks. When you are battling a zombie you are taken to first person shooting.I think it was a big mistake. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

In 2001, Sega and developers Visual Concepts--the same people who brought you the NFL 2Kx series and other sports games--turned out a solid console baseball game that was a major improvement on the previous version and the first with head-to-head Internet play. This version for the Xbox marks a similar leap in quality, combining some of the best features of its competitors into one well-considered whole. Alas, the only thing missing is Internet play.

Going beyond motion-capturing batting stances (there are 89 distinct ones in here by my count), they've done a great job of animating pretty much every aspect of the game in pitch delivery, fielding, and base-running. The instant replay system, which borrows from and improves upon the one seen in the High Heat series, allows you to move the camera anywhere on the field to see the realistic movements at any speed. You can also use the feature to see the game's sophisticated artificial intelligence--for example, there's a brief, realistic delay when a player tags up from third on an outfield fly.

There's also a solid pitching game that lets a starter like Tim Hudson get off without a shelling when pitching heat down the middle, but try it with a pitcher like Byung-Hyun Kim and you're bound to see different results. And the TV-style zone chart shows which locations each batter is best at connecting to and where your sequence of pitches has landed.

A number of the new features are so obvious that you may wonder why you've never seen them before. One is a controller map in the pause menu that quickly shows you exactly which buttons perform the task you want. An option is also included that sets the relative speed of pitches to the plate. This really comes in handy when coming from another baseball game like All-Star Baseball 2003 where pitches seem to blur to the plate.

To put it bluntly, the game has almost no downside. There are some very powerful GM and manager functions--including a fantasy draft and exhaustive franchise tools--though using them is somewhat counterintuitive. Stealing is kind of tough to pull off; in one game, Ichiro got caught twice out of three attempts. And, as stated above, there's no Internet play--but that gives us something to look forward to for next year. --Porter B. Hall

Pros:

  • Realistic player movement
  • Smart AI
  • TV-style zone chart marks hot and cold areas for each batter
  • Variable pitch-appearance speeds

Cons:

  • No head-to-head play over the Internet

4-0 out of 5 stars Franchise
The franchise mode for this game is unbelievable as you can now watch your players develope throughout their entire careers. Cons of this franchise mode is that there are glitches such as during the middle of the your season your lineup may be discomobulated by the computer. The gameplay sucks as it always has. World series 2k1 is by far the best baseball game ever. So if you want pitches to come in unbelievably slow then this is the game for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stats dont even carry out through carrer, game [bad]
I bought this game after reading how great it was and I found out after many hors playing that is is a patheticclly boring game. Theres no salary cap and stats dont carry through careers. dont buy this gam trust

5-0 out of 5 stars i love this game!!!!!!!
i love this game because of the great franchise mode and how real the players look. it also has great gameplay and features.

4-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT GET....
DONT GET THIN GAME.THE HOME RUN DURBEY IS NOT EVEN REAL HOME RUN DERBEY.THE GRAPHICS ARE REALLY BAD AND THE HEADS OD NOT EVEN LOOK LIKE WHO THERE SUPPOSED TO BE.ALSO IF THEY DONT HAVE A PICTURE FOR A PLAYER THEY DRAW HIS FACE.THIS GAME ALL AORUND IS REALLY REALLY BAD SO DONT GET IT...YOUE BETTER OFF GETTING Tripple Play Baseball!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than a kick in the face
I read some people's problems with getting the computer to swing out of the zone, getting the computer to take walks, and especially stealing.

I think diehard baseball fans would have less of a problem with that stuff.I had absolutely zero problems with any of those things on the All Star mode.I didn't have a problem hitting too many home runs.I didn't hit more than 45 with any player on my roster, and some everyday players didn't hit 15 for the year. Now, my batting cursor was on small, so maybe that did it, but I don't know what to tell you there.

My problems revolved around the number of absolute BLOCKBUSTER trades that went down and the lack of a jump button.First off, you just really need to be able to jump.Secondly, Giambi was traded FOUR TIMES in my game . . . WITHIN THIRTY DAYS.That's just plain laughable.Sosa was traded three times within 60 days.Clean those two things up, and I think you've got one heck of a game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard to find problems
The only thing I can fault about this game is the inability to challenge, but in the game I have never found a situation where the ref. is wrong. It's a great game, and the animations and graphics easily surpass those of Madden. A very good game especially for the price which is very cheap.

1-0 out of 5 stars this game stinks
this is not worth 10.00 price the graphic stink and a waste of talent to be make
its a waste of time to play dont buy me instad bu madden 2004better graphics this game sucks

5-0 out of 5 stars EA SUCKS
Completely destroys Madden 2004, yeah that's right

I dont know why I waited so long to try the 2K series.

Madden SUCKS! Buy this instead. Better gameplay, graphics and it is cheaper.

5-0 out of 5 stars 10 Stars.. GOOD GAME
I bought NFL 2K3 in October 2003, and i think it is By Far better than Madden 2004.I had played Madden 2004 before, and it was ok, but one on one open field tackling was near impossible, and Some players seemed like they were covered in grease. Also Strategy actually makes a difference in this game, unlike many of its predeccesors. Here are hte Pros/ Cons

Pros: -Online Capable
-Player's stats improve year to year depending on their performance, so bad players can get good, with work.
-Scouting, you scout college players, and you get to draft them.
-You can sign free agents off the free agent wire.
-Strategy of play calling makes a difference.
-Impressive player creating and team creating program
-Customizable difficulty settings, from 3 year old easy, to extremely hard.
-Difficult kicking, unlike Madden games

Cons: -It has froze up on me once or twice
-Create a team mode only has 10 premade uniform styles

This is an excellent game.If i had to pick NFL 2K3, or Madden 2004, id take NFL 2K3.And apart from all that, 2K3 is only $9.99, unlike Madden's $49.99.The main reason i love this game is because it is actually challenging

4-0 out of 5 stars great-needs improvement in few areas
I went out to buy some games and realized that NFL 2K3 was the real deal in graphics.I owned Madden 2002 and it was terrible graphic wise, i thought it was great until I saw the graphics for 2K3.But the announcing is just like Madden.I don't care what other reviewers say, this game's announcing is great, and then wham, after you play about 4 games, the announcers start using the same phrases over and over and over again.ANd sometimes, when I spike the ball to stop the clock, it says that I got the first down, how stupid!!!I definitely recommend this game over Madden 2003, but for 2004, people say its cool but I'm not really sure.I'll go for that probably once I'm sure and you will be hearing about it as soon as I play it... ta ta for now. ... Amazon.com Review

Sports fans with little interest in video basketball games may want to rethink their stance after getting a look at Sega Sports’ NBA 2K3. They--not to mention hard-core basketball simulation enthusiasts--will likely find it hard to keep from being drawn in by the game’s picture-perfect detail, engrossing realism, and challenging gameplay.

Like NFL 2K3, NBA 2K3 is presented in the patented ESPN style. The game has all the sights and sounds of the NBA: the pomp and circumstance of pregame introductions, accurate arena re-creations, realistic player animations and sizes, and fluid dribbling and shooting (including crossover moves and the ability to change shot direction in midair). All of this is accentuated with special touches such as alley-oops, tipped shots, the ability to make passes on the fly, fierce rebounding battles under the basket, and the added drama and excitement of the ball bouncing off the rim before it either falls in or goes awry.

NBA 2K3 offers a host of moves and modes on either side of the ball, with 25 offensive and 10 defensive plays from which to choose. Throw in fully customizable strategy options--everything from player clutch factor to computer shot tendencies, plus all types of shot percentages and fouls--and it’s easy to create the ideal matchup and game environment. The limitless roster manager feature also ensures that league and franchise modes will keep from getting stale.

Street mode offers a break from the grind of NBA play, allowing you to go two-on-two or all the way up to five-on-five in nine playgrounds and gyms. Pick your favorite players from current teams or choose greats from the '50s through the '80s and go at it as the Ballers vs. the Ringers. Street even features requisite trash talk such as "Yeah! You like that?" and grunts backed with "Get some!" --Larry White

Pros:

  • Accurate, eye-catching graphic representation
  • Challenging artificial intelligence
  • Realistic gameplay
Cons:
  • Blocky player movements
  • Players celebrate with fans after key shots
  • Lob quality of passes

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Basketball Game Made
This is the best basketball game made because if has many more features in it than nba live 2003.This game is also better han any basketball game now because the franchise mode is incredible because you make your own ways through the nba, like you coach your team, play with your team, make your own player, and win titles back to back if you are lucky. It also has street mode where you mix up players from any team and play on some of the geatest courts some nba stars played on when they were young.overall this is a good game when you play it. it might be the best basketball game you played and trust me I have it so go out and buy it I'm sure you are going to have fun playing it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Average
There are deffinatly better games out there.NBA 2K3 is cool becauase it ahs the espn look, but the graphics and gameplay deffinatly dont live up to 2003 standards.NBA live 2003 is a much better game.

<<>>

The game has a large variety of game modes, ranging from 1 season, to a frachise mode where you can take ownership of a time and scout players and try to draft them, and play with them for up to 100 years!!The franchise mode is teh thing I got the game for, i wanted something that would last a while, and it did.You can see just what its like to run a team.

NBA 2K3 also has a street mode, where you can play from 2 on 2 up to 5 on 5.You can choose any current stars in the leauge, or older players. You also choose where you want to play, there are about 7 different courts.

3-0 out of 5 stars Low Down on NBA 2K3
Undoubtedly this is GameCube's most realistic basketball game. The 2003 update contains not only the addition of C-stick passiong, but also includes improvements to the passing mechanics themselves and tweaks the previously irritating percentage of shots that are actually scored.
NBA 2K3 is steeped in an almost dour regard for the rules and practices of the sport of basketball. There are no outrageous steals, no somersulting dunks and definitely no smashing of the glass backboard. Instead, this game plays very much like the real thing - perhaps too much so.
Getting to the bare facts:
Visuals: Good animation, presentation and character models. Very nice throughout.
8.3/10
Audio: The commentary falters a lot less than many other sports games.
6.8/10
Gameplay: Serious and accurate, but is that what you really want?
7.2/10
Lifespan: Multiple game modes, expansive options and season-long campaigns.
7.6/10
Originality: Merely builds on and improves the previously decent NBA 2K2 (one of the reasons that I can't give it a good score)
6.3/10
OVERALL SCORE AND THOUGHTS:
-7.1/10 (71%)
Proof that sometimes sports games need a lot less realism. (Probably a good idea to wait for NBA Street 2)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Basketball Game To Get
This is the best Basketball game money can buy so don't miss it!If you have an Xbox with Xbox Live get it on there so you can take the competition online.

4-0 out of 5 stars CHANGE OF HEART
i wrote a review of this game a couple of months ago and after starting to play this game again have changed my mind.i thought before it was slow and the passes were too balloon like.but i have started playing the game on fast mode which i believe brings the game up to regular speed and brings back some of the fast break points.fast mode doesn't make it like nba live, it just makes it regular nba speed.this game is very real.just watch the passes and watch how the computer plays at times (penetrating and dishing out).although the computer doesn't know how to handle a zone (jacking up three point shot with whoever is at the top of the key).the only thing to watch out for is the game freeze on franchise mode. this will drive you crazy ...

Amazon.com Review

You'd be hard pressed to find a better-looking baseball game thanTriple Play 2002. If only the same could be said for its gameplay. Ifeasy-playing, action-packed ball games spiced with a liberal dosage of the longball are what you're seeking, this game won't disappoint.

Graphically, no one can touch the stunning visuals and attention to detail thatEA Sports has given to every ballplayer and stadium. Most players' facesaccurately resemble their real-life counterparts (albeit with oversized heads),and they come complete with customized batting stances and perfectly rendereduniform detail. The ballparks themselves come alive in breathtaking beauty as avariety of camera angles put you right on the field and in the seats.

But too many inconsistencies and omissions hold this game back from greatness. Most unrealistic is the frequency of home runs and the ease with which you'reable to score runs--the novelty wears off pretty fast after swatting long ballafter long ball and finding yourself tied 9-9 in the 4th inning. Playing at therookie, pro, or all-star level does little to stem the outpouring of runs, anddoes even less to shorten the tedious game pace, perhaps the mostunintentionally realistic part of Triple Play 2002. Fielding could usesome fine-tuning as well. And when does EA Sports plan to reintroduce injuriesto this series?

Game modes still feature fully customizable season options and the home runderby, either one-on-one or tournament (up to eight players). But gone from thederby, strangely, is the option to choose from past legendary players andmembers of the 500-home-run club.

Calling the action this year is the two-man announcing team of Bob Costas andHarold Reynolds. Costas thankfully keeps things more low-key than his real-lifepersona, while Reynolds dishes the sass like a pro ("This isn't an eyetest--swing the bat!"). --Larry White

Pros:

  • Best visuals of any baseball sim
  • In-game music builds up dramatic moments
  • 8-player home run derby
Cons:
  • No injuries
  • Unrealistic gameplay
  • Slow, uncustomizable game pace
  • Player heads are too big for their bodies

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun
Not the BEST baseball game I've ever played but it is quite "fun", and that is where it counts for me! Its pretty easy to hit but the pitching is where it makes up for in challenge. When you pitch you get a box that is in front of the batter. you move the ball around in that box and then pick "slider", "curve" or "fastball" type with the "X" or "O" etc. When you line up the square for the batter you can hit a home fun. The idea is to find where the pitcher's ball stopped if you get the square over it you can get a homerun. Its a decent system in which they have polished up with the next games but this one is fun! I find that the two player game is the best but the single player was good for me because of the line up for my two fav teams. The Braves and the Diamondbacks. I hear 2004 is much better but for the price this is a fun game.

1-0 out of 5 stars AWFUL
this game is terrible. its way to easy to be realistic. im hitting hrs w/ my leadoff hitters and 9th hitters. you cant put together a REALISTIC game. baseball is a game of strategy and patience, and the score is like 20 to 17. its pathetic

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Baseball Game (for now)
This game is why I bought my PS2.The graphics are incredible. The strategies that you can execute in the field and at bat are very lifelike. The movement of the players and the reaction of the ball in different stadiums is so real that its scary.

With that said, there are a few things that bother me about this game:

1) In the game, the home team takes the 3rd base dugout in every stadium. What's up with that?
2) Where are the injuries??I beamed Mike Piazza in the head, ribs, and back a half-dozen times in this game and he kept coming back for more!
3) Fighting (like in the NHL series) would be nice (see point #2 above).
4) It's pretty easy to score runs, which will make the game kinda boring after a while.I guess if we face facts that it's a computer, we should realize that there will be repeatable scenarios under which you can always score.

I've been a baseball fan all of my life and pros and cons aside - this is a terrific game to play.I think it might cure my offseason blues.

4-0 out of 5 stars homerun derby
I have had this game for a while let me tell you Ive also have high heat and all star baseball and triple play is better than those two no matter what anybody says those two are not better.
The graphics on triple play are better stadium wise and player wise.My only complaint is I think the graphics could be better and the players heads are too big just like everybody else has said. I think the people who play the game say its too easy are playing on the rookie level or pro. They should try the all star level when playing a game. During home run derby though its too easy. Also what [makes me mad] is the repeating replays when there is men on base and you the hit the ball it also bothers me when you are playing defense. Thats basically my opinion triple play is better than high heat and all star baseball.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Great American Game gets Better Every Year
This is the third installment of the Triple Play series that I have owned. Each one has been a bit better than the previous year. Since it is such a solid product, I am only going to focus on the negatives. My short list should really serve to reveal how hard it is to find flaws in this game.

First, I found the levels of play a bit unbalanced. The "Rookie" level is, as intended, very easy. The problem comes between the two top levels. In the "Professional" level, it takes a short period of time to easily dominate the game. Yet if you move up to the "All-Star" level it is nearly impossible to win consistently without a top team, no matter how good you are. The problem is that suddenly EVERY computer comtrolled player makes All-Star plays on defense on EVERY play and you cannot sneak a fastball by anyone when pitching...even with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. The realism is lost at this level in order to make the computer more competitive. The problem is that this punishes players who really would be unbeatable otherwise. Second, the graphical representation of the uniforms is not as good as in some competing games. This is only a minor criticism and most people would not even notice it. I am nit-picking to be sure. Finally, there is a limit of 24 slots for created players. If you are someone who is interested in keeping rosters current, this will grow frustrating late in the year when more and more rookies get called up and suddenly you are out of spots to creatr them. If you do not care about keeping the rosters in line with the "real world", this is of no concern.

Even with these criticisms, this is a fantastic game. It has outstanding playability, incredibly detailed stadiums, complete rosters that are current as of January 15th, plenty of player info and ratings, and tons of statistics to give you every aspect of your game or season. While future versions are sure to continue to improve on the Triple Play brand name, this one is certainly worth the price of admission for true baseball fans. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's all right......
This game is all right. It has all-stars from 1950 up till now, but even in Rookie mode, the computer always makes 3 pointers and you almost can't. There is one on one (nba player against nba player, like a hussle)mode, season, franchise, and normal games and practices. Also, you can't steal much. Everytime you try to steal, you get fouls. That's why I gave 3 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best b-ball game out
Wow!!!
Nba live 2003 is great. From throwback jerseys to play in to the new freestyle mode its like your in the game. By using the right thumbstick you can do crossovers, pumpfake, do a defensive crouch, make a perfect steal and whatever kobe or t- mac can do. BUY IT!!! Its the best one of its kind out. Nba live 2004 should be just as good.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage...might as well burn your money
You will like this game if you like shooting 70% and still losing, CPU making 40 ft threes at will in the 4th quarter, glitchy graphics where CPU players pass through you on the way to the basket, countless missed layups and airballed open threes by your players, and watching Zhi Zhi Wang shake-and-bake to the basket while faking out three defenders lined up side by side. The disc made a nice frisbee as I sent it into the wall...too bad it wasn't sturdy enough for another toss.I would hope 2004 is better but I'm sure it will be the same [stuff].

5-0 out of 5 stars Killer Graphics, Killer Players, Great Game
To sum up the NBA Live 2003 experience, it was GREAT!

I had only rented it, but during my play NBA LIve 2003 was one of the greatest games I've played. You don't get tired of this one. Even though I kind of didn't know how to play at first, once you get the hang of it, you've got it.

Here are somethings I like about the game:

Killer Graphics, Players
Alot of Teams to choose from
Pick your shirts, customize your team to the max

What i Did not like:

Directions don't really explain alot.
Hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you got it going on
They come out with one every year. Uh-OH! More money down the drain.

The NBA Live 2003 experience was fun, hard at times, and challenging. I would reccomend this game to any basketball, or "I'm waiting for a challenge" kind of person. It is currently avaliable.

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought a lot about a basketball sim...
I spent a long time thinking about which basketball game i should by for the XBOX. I thought about what i wanted in a basketball game. Graphics, Realism, Dunks and origanlity. NBA Live 2003 is very realistic, especially with that new right joystick thing! You can do anything! NBA Live 2003 really shines with the dunks and moves. ORIGINALITY IS WHERE NBA Live 2003 DUNKS OVER THE other games (no pun intended). SOmething new in a basketball game is something that you dont see alot, they all have shooting and all, but NBA Live 2003 lets u have complete control over the game!

BUY THIS GAME! Listen to someone that has played every basketball game on the xbox console. NBA 2k3 , starting five, and inside drive fall way short of NBA Live 2003! ... Read more

Five years ago, the 3-D platform genre was exciting, as titleslike Crash Bandicoot and Mario 64 ruled the consoleroost. Since then, we have seen the 3-D platform genre fill out with afew copycats and some outright stinkers. However, there have been a fewclassics in the intervening years, such as Banjo-Tooie, and nowRayman 2: Revolution can join the club.

Like past installments, Rayman 2: Revolution borrows gameplayelements from a variety of different sources, but they are sourcesworth borrowing from. Several elements from Rayman 2: The GreatEscape have been pilfered, including a similar story line.Revolution has a good combination of beautiful graphics, greatcontrols, and enhanced gameplay. This will astound both hard-coregamers and those new to the hobby. There is enough puzzle solving, lever pulling, item collecting, and platform jumping to keep even themost ardent platform enthusiast busy for quite some time.

The pirate Admiral Razorbeard and his army of robots have enslaved theplanet, and it's your job in Revolution to help Rayman searchfor pieces of the Primordial Core and summon Polokus to get rid of therobotic pirates. The levels are even the same as they were in TheGreat Escape, although there have been some slight changes made tothe order in which they appear. Due to the power of the PS2 and thedetail put into reworking the levels for the game, they lookspectacular. Ubi Soft has mixed old-school gameplay with graphicspower, and those ingredients mixed together make this game a must-playfor gamers of all ages.

Despite the borrowed elements from The Great Escape,Revolution for the PS2 offers up plenty of new things that willmake the hearts of platform gamers skip a beat, just like when theyfirst played Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. It looks likethis time, Rayman will finally get the respect he deserves. --ToddMowatt

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Platformer with a some flaws
As a huge fan of the platform genre I purchased this game after the many positive reviews I read of this game.First Off, I would have to say that I was very impressed with the diversity and the rich colorful graphics of the game.I was also very impressed with the camera and character control which I feel was one of the best I've experienced in any platformer yet.

Many people keep saying that this game isn't any good because it's not as nice looking as Jak & Daxter nor a fun as Spyro or Crash and I would have to agree. One reason for this is that Rayman is not these games, but nonetheless it's a wonderful gaming experience.I know this is a first gen PS2 title and there are tons of better looking games on the market, but I would have to say that I really liked the atmosphere and environments of Rayman. The game was a little slow moving at first but if you have a little patience the intensity of the game will beging to increase as well as the fun factor. It may seem a little childish at times, which to me was fine, but if you need a little more maturity you can always slap GTA3 into your PS2 and get your fix.

I gave this game a 4 instead of a 5 for a couple reasons; which seemed minor in the beginning but became very frustrating as the game progressed. The were as follows:

1. The constant loading and then asking you if you want to save was very very annoying, probably the worst I have ever experienced. There are times when you will come out of loading and then go thru a door or down a path and immediately be asked to save or continue and then the game would start to load again.I know this may sound like I'm overreacting, but when you have to go back and forth between areas, this becomes a real pain in the A**... real fast.

2.There is quite a bit of aliasing (jaggies) during the game although it is not overwhelming it is noticeable.

3.The voice acting was subpar and low in volume. There were times when I just couldn't make out what the heck the characters were talking about or what my next mission objective was.

Overall this game is a solid experience and ,especially at the new reduced price, a solid PS2 purchase. It may not be the flashiest or most original title on the market, but what it lacks in luster in makes up in spades with consistency.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your money and time, buy something else!!
My intention with this review is to provide a rather different oppinion from most reviews here which qualify this game with an average 4.5 stars.I purchased this game for my son for two reasons:The price drop and the excellente reviews.I had no previous knowledge of Rayman, so I came unbiased to play it. I own 3 titles from Spyro the Dragon (games that have always satisfied my son) Jak and Daxter (PS2) and Crash Bandicoot "Wrath of Cortex" (Xbox), and my son plays all of them very regularly.I personally like these games very much so I expected Rayman 2 to be a great platformer game.Well, the thing is that my son played Rayman 2 for about an hour and a half and never picked it up again, I myself had to play it in order to understand what was wrong, but then I understood him.
First: the graphics, I have read in every review, even the newer ones, that the graphics are excellent and so on.Well, to my opinion the graphics can not even match Spyro 3 on the PSOne, they are graphics that are ok for an early launch on the PS2 but can not be compared to the possibilities that we are getting today, and I refer in this case to Jak and Daxter, where the developers (Naughty Dog) have done a beautiful job on this subject.Second: the voice acting, what can I say, I personally found the constant whispering (instead of real voices) very annoying, I even thought there was some kind of malfunction in the CD because of this, until I realized that those whispers WERE the voices.Third: the story, even though it is a typical platform story, there is no fun in it, I personally found it very boring, and I couldn't play it for more than half hour before I could fall asleep.
I truly wish that I could find something good about this game, but the truth is that I had to sell it one day after I got it, neither my son nor I liked this game.If you truly want to play a good platformer then go for Jak and Daxter, there is no comparison (great graphics, hilarious voice acting -even in spanish-, good story and lots of fun), or wait for the PS2 version of Spyro the dragon, or even play the PSOne versions of Spyro, I can assure you that you will have more fun with those than you will with Rayman 2.I was deceived by the price drop and the good reviews, and made a terrible mistake: wasted [money], so don't fall for the same, this game can only and hardly diserve the one star I gave it.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
Wow. when I first purchased rayman 2 Revolution, I never expected to receive such an exilarating game. From beautiful and stunning graphics, to huge and very entertaining levels, Rayman contained all of the aspects that contributed to make an amazing and rare game. Some of the great qualities of Rayman 2 revolution were: spectacular graphics, wonderful voice acting and hearing aides, massive levels, great mini games, loveable characters, great storyline, and just raw and plain out FUN! But, to every yin, there is a yang, which in this case, the yang are the CONS or the less adequate qualities of this game which conclude of: pesky camera angles, and although this is a fantastic game, it lasted me a short 14 hours which isnt very long. But besides those 2 Cons, this game is a must have for anyone who owns a playstation 2. this game is my favorite game out of the games i own.my suggestion is, if you see this game anywhere which is now currently being sold for 19.99, you should purchase it right away because it is really worth the price ... Go out and buy this game right away! GOOD LUCK!

The orignal on DreamCast was fun, and this port doesn't fall through the cracks.Believe it or not, a bad port can ruin a good game....but RayMan2 for the PS2 holds the magic that the original had.It looks good and it plays good...the part is, anyone can play it.Parents don't need to worry about young kids playing this....it's appropriate for everyone. This game is a great example of 3D Platforming done right...hopefully RayMan3 will be just as good, maybe better!Great game, and makes you anticipate the next one.

A must own title, no need to rent this one. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Sports fans with little interest in video basketball games may want to rethink their stance after getting a look at Sega Sports' NBA 2K3. They--not to mention hardcore basketball simulation enthusiasts--will likely find it hard to keep from being drawn in by the game's picture-perfect detail, engrossing realism, and challenging gameplay.

Like NFL 2K3, NBA 2K3 is presented in the patented ESPN style. The game has all the sights and sounds of the NBA: the pomp and circumstance of pregame introductions, accurate arena recreations, realistic player animations and sizes, and fluid dribbling and shooting (including crossover moves and the ability to change shot direction in midair). All of this is accentuated with special touches such as alley-oops, tipped shots, the ability to make passes on the fly, fierce rebounding battles under the basket, and the added drama and excitement of the ball bouncing off the rim before it either falls in or goes awry.

NBA 2K3 offers a host of moves and modes on either side of the ball with 25 offensive and 10 defensive plays from which to choose. Throw in fully customizable strategy options--everything from player clutch factor to computer shot tendencies, not to mention all types of shot percentages and fouls--and it's easy to create the ideal match up and game environment. The limitless roster manager feature also ensures that league and franchise modes won't get stale.

Street mode offers a break from the grind of NBA play, allowing you to go two-on-two or all the way up to five-on-five in nine playgrounds and gyms. Pick your favorite players from current teams or choose greats from the '50s through the '80s and go at it as the Ballers vs. the Ringers. Street even features requisite trash talk such as "Yeah! You like that?" and grunts backed with "Get some!" --Larry White

Pros:

  • Accurate, eye-catching graphic representation
  • Challenging artificial intelligence
  • Realistic gameplay
Cons:
  • Blocky player movements
  • Players celebrate with fans after key shots
  • Lob quality of passes

5-0 out of 5 stars Great basketball game for Xbox
If you want a great NBA basketball game for Xbox that's affordable and fun, then look no further. NBA 2K3 is a full-fledged NBA game and has all the features that you'd expect in a quality basketball game-great gameplay, nice graphics, and nice sound effects.

This game is also a really cool multi-player game. On my XBox I play with my brothers and you can play 4-players. This game is very comprehensize and there are a plethora of options. You can pick any team in the NBA, and play any way you want. You can make up your own players and play streetball. You can play a practice game or practice free throws (which are kind of hard, you need to press both triggers). You can turn off all the rules like backcourt violations and 3-second violations.

The graphics in this game are excellent. The use of lighting effects is really nice, and the game movements are very lifelike. This game definitely shows off the power of the Xbox graphics engine.

Overall this is a great basketball game for Xbox. It's a very good choice compared to the other basketball games for Xbox.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun, once you get the hang of it
I have played a lot of different basketball games for a number of consoles, all the way back to EAs first foray into basketball games with the Sega Genesis. This game is one of the best ever. One downside is that it takes a while to get used to the game's game play.I started playing on the "average" difficulty setting, and promptly lost 10 in a row playing superior teams vs. inferior ones!I put it down to "easy" and got the hang of the game, and am enjoying the game more and learning its secrets.

Some valid complaints: the passing game isn't 100% solid. Many times players will stop once the ball is passed to them, standing still until the ball gets there. This is infuriating when you're trying to orchestrate a fast break. Also, the computer's point guard does a bevy of moves to always get by me.Seriously, I think each game the guy I'm guarding throws up 20-30 points, 90% of them in crazy layups.

Sometimes you foul a guy and it looks like it was a foul on the groud, but they give the guy free throws. That is, the refs in this game are very loose on their definition of "in the act of shooting."You might foul a guy and then he takes two big steps and does a layup and they count the shot.I guess that's a lot like the NBA, though, huh?:-)

If you are a true basketball fan, this game is worth picking up.There are some cons to the game, but nothing major. Also, you can tweak settings (like how often the computer tries to drive vs. shoot jumpers) to help mitigate what are perceived as unfair computer advantages. Also, XBox Live support is present, which is killer.
