1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Software
Couldn't get to load on my XP-Pro System. Crashed my computer every time I tried something to get it to load. When I called the number for tech support, I was told that the free tech support expired and I'd have to pay for help. NEVERMIND! I returned software for refund.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR THE KIDS
I got a new computer, and the old games didn't work with it, so bought this.My granddaughter loves to play Go Fish when she comes over, and she was ticked to death to see I bought it for the new computer. I enjoy playing Euchre myself, so these games get a lot of use.

3-0 out of 5 stars Hoyle Card Games 2003
Euchre:
I basically play euchre when my phone line is tied up.Otherwise I play on Yahoo!

Overall, Hoyle isn't too bad, but I find that even on the "advanced" setting, your partner is too timid, mostly by failing to lead trump on your call or order. However, they often order up from first with 2 bowers and no support, when they could have had 3 or 4 trump by passing for "next".

Also, 1st chair never donates.

Unrealistic loners, the computer often takes trick 1 with trump or off Ace, and properly leads the Right, but then leads offsuit to give the opps a chance to stop the loner.Even when holding JJ9, AK.

Pinochle:

In viewing the meld, you gain additional information that can be used later in the gameplay. The computer never makes use of this.Say your P in double-deck has 3 aces of diamonds (which you only know after the fact) and you make diamonds trump with a run (so the computer should know you have the 4th ace). You lead the Qd.Your P should play the 10 of diamonds and lead back at least 2 ace of diamonds before playing other suits.

Also, in the bidding, if you are in a game to 3550 and both teams have around 3000, you cannot count on your P to bid even if you have no marriage yourself. This is very frustrating because you now have to bid a lot more.I think it is so the player can have the glory, but I want the computer to play with the understanding that you must bid to win.

5-0 out of 5 stars Canasta, Go Fish, Old Maid, You Name It!
The Hoyle Card Games are really great! There are many characters you can play against in the different games, with different personalities. The facemaker isn't as great as some other Hoyle Games, but I got used to the difference quickly. The only other negative is that only one person can play the gamesat a time, because otherwise you could see each other's cards. This is a really great game, though! I give it a thumbs up!

3-0 out of 5 stars Hoyle Card Games 2003
I am satisfied with most games except for Bridge, the main reason I made the purchase. The players take far too long to respond and even longer to play their cards. It is so bad that I never even play bridge!
In hearts, the players make inappropriate comments when playing the queen of spades.
In gin rummy, you don't get a good look at the cards when the game is over.
Overall, the older versions are better for both the games and the characters. I look forward to reviews for the 2004 version to see if there is any improvement before I think of buying it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SPYRO ROCKS!
I have all the Spyro PS1 games and they rock! The best PS1 games you can buy.
I have Gateway To Glimmer instead of Ripto's Rage though, but they are exactly the same but with diff names and covers.
All the worlds rock, and it's nice to see more friends to help Spyro on his way to beat Ripto- and when you finally beat him, the game still isn't over! How cool? There are many skill points to earn,a amazing new level- the cool Dragon Shores, and a permanent fireball!!
If you have a PS1, you have to play this game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spyro!
Spyro fun aholoic sweet game!!! Very fun but not hard, it can be very very easy but it is alot of tottaly wicked fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, but not Insomniac's Best
I was a little bit disappointed with this Spyro.Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome game, but Insomniac could've put a little more effort into it.With only three worlds and about twenty-one levels, this game may only be for true Spyro fans, but, I strongly encourage you to buy this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spyro second adventure!
The first Spyro was great game already, but this game beats it by far. With loads of new features and tons of new characters, this is one of the best Spyro games out there. In this game you get to travel through 4 new worlds with over 30 colorful levels with your old buddy Sparx and your new companion, Hunter, the cheetah. You must collect over 14 tallismans and 60 orbs to finally come face to face with Ripto. Also in these game, meet Moneybags. He can open up doors or drop bridges for you at a "small fee". Some new features in this include some fun mini-games, the ability to swim, and some new power-ups like the super charge, super flame breath, and super flying power. Here an overview of the game:

+Improved graphics 8.5/10
+Challenging but not too challenging boss battles 8/10
+Autosave 10/10
-Not enough new abilities 7/10
-Levels are a bit small 7.5/10
-Storyline is a bit bland 7/10

Overall, a great Spyro game. It provides lots of entertainment and lots of fun mini-games, therefore, it's a MUST-HAVE!

5-0 out of 5 stars This ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game is awesome! From the moment I got it I have played it like a maniac! This is a MUST HAVE! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars easy if you have good coardination!
Ok the two towers and return of the king were games where you wasent solve anything just wars but the fellowship is amazing you get problems to solve and every detail is like in the book the music is really beutiful in the shire and it gets darker the more you progress like the atitude of the enviroment. The ringwraithes in the game are hard to get past you have to have keen eyes like me if you are going to get past the one on the bridge. The reviewer (Ian) was right the wargs do look like overgrown rats and overgrown skinny rats too.there are only a few properly designed wards in this game the ones in the shire and the ones in buckland dont forget the place where you meet tom boombadil and goldberry. If youv read the books you get pretty far on this game but if you havent you are going to have a tough time. The only complained I have is that I was expecting to play as the entire fellowship and that intro at the top is wrong you dont play as legolas in this game. and hes my favorite character. And frodo is the only character that can jump over all a good game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hmmm....
It's hard to say how good this game is.I'm stuck on the part where you have to sneak past the Black Riders, which is about 10 minutes into the game! It's so hard b/c they kill you and you have to start over!!! *cries*
But I think the game will get better once I can get past that part:)

"Here, have a cookie!" *shoves an imaginary cookie down your throat*

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game, when your playing it
This games is fantastic for anyone who loves Tolkien's works, not the movies based on them. The story is from the books, so some of the scenes might be confusing for someone who has only seen the movies. The only setback to this game is that i doesn't take long to finish, if you work at it. The first time I played through the game, it took me about 11 hours. Now, some people might be thinking " well, you play games all the time, and you are crazy enough to review a game." Here are the ratings i would give it and the explainations.
Story: 10/10 What else could it be!
Graphics: 8/10 There are great graphics, but sometimes the camera is difficult.
Audio: 10/10 good blend of music and real life sounds.
Gameplay: 7/10 it can be entrancing at times, but some of the levels can become very frustrating.
Finally, this game takes some INTELLECT, and is not just a hack-away adrenaline rush game. And since it has been out for a couple of years, the price you get it at is a total bargain. This games should cost at least $25, but it only costs $15. Good deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Now that's Lord of the Rings!!!
Hello. The names DC and here on Amazon, I rate movies and video games that I own or have played before. I have to say that this is the Lord of the Rings video game to buy, a lot better than EAs LOTR video games. The game is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's first book in the LOTR trilogy, not the movie. Vivendi has done an excellent job with it, but there are a few things that I'd like to point out. First off, I wish there were more playable characters and two, there should have been more levels. Other than that, It's a great addition to any LOTR fan's collection. I had bought it two years ago and had beaten it but it got stolen. I'm recently borowing it from a friend and I'm going to buy it Febuary 1st. I giving it Five stars and recommend that you buy it since it's only 19.95.

4-0 out of 5 stars A decent, fun trip through Middle Earth
With the movie trilogy finished, it's a pretty safe bet that a lot of people have forgotten about the games based on the books. With EA's uber success with thier game adaptions of the movies, poor Vivendi had the unenviable task of competing with thier own games that could not look or sound anything like the movies. It may have been too tough, because the second and third books were never made into games (what a shame). But we still have the Fellowship of the ring game to go through.

The Fellowship of the ring is a third person action adventure game that allows you to take on the role of Frodo Baggins, Aragorn, and Gandalf as you play through the story of the first Lord of the rings book, which means that you get to visit areas that are not in EA's game, such as the villiage of Bree, Rivendell and Lothlorien (granted, its only one room in the latter two, but they are pretty). You also get to meet Tom Bombadill, fight Barrow-rights, and even fight the Balrog!(which EA did not have until The Third age)

The gameplay here is very simple. You move your charachter around an enviornment while solving a task or a puzzle. You shoot projectiles, swing your sword (or stick), and can jump (only while playing as Frodo).Nothing too fancy or complicated.Perfect for young gamers or those who dont want to memorize dozens of moves.I personally loved playing as Gandalf, who gets to use magic to kill his foes (and lets face it, playing as Gandalf is going to be cool no matter what).

The fighting is simple as well. You can run up and attack with a sword, or weaken a foe from a distance by firing either rocks, arrows, or bolts of fire. You can also reduce damage by blocking.Thats it.No combos to memorize whatsoever.I do like this simple combat scheme, as you dont have to memorize lots of moves and try to recall them all in an instant.

You'll face lots of dangerous foes on your journey as well. There are lots of orcs, lots of wargs (but why do they look like oversized rats?), some rather mean towns-folk, the Nazgul, and the fiery Balrog. The AI of your foes is rather basic.Combat for your foes consists of running towards you ("Charge!") and swinging away.Orcs do try to block your attacks, but thats it as far as defense goes.I found that almost any foe could be beaten simply by running in circles, slicing at them one blow at a time. They would stand there, andy by the time they got around to fighting back, I attacked and stunned them again! Simple, and a little silly.

Thanks to the book liscene, you get to visit a lot of places in the game that were not in the movie based games. The green and happy shire, the slightly gloomy woods between the Shire and Bree, Bree itself, the troll-shaws, Weather-top, and Rivendell are but some of the places you'll visit on your journey.Every location is rendered well and the looks fit the atmosphere well. The shire is bright and cheerful while Moria is dark and forbodding (Skeletons on the walls are always good at conveying gloominess).

Graphics for the game are pretty normal. It's not flashy or wonderful, it just gets the job done. There are some great locations, such as the bridge of Khazad-Dum and the river Anduin that look really great. The audio is pretty good. The voiceovers are for the most part well done, but at times they feel very unenthusiastic ("Gandolf.No.").The music is quite catchy, especially in the Shire and Moria.

However, the game suffers from some big problems. There are no bonuses for finishing the game, aside from playing it again. The camera is tricky to get the hang of, but can be managed with practice. At some points the game feels a little amaturish (such as text that says "The next day"), as if the game were made by people who just finished gaming school and were unused to making games.

But in the end, I enjoyed my trip through the game.I thought it was fun, and had some great elements in it (such as fighting the Balrog in real time combat instead of an RPG battle).I personally recomend it, but you should rent before you buy. ... Read more

64. Limited Edition Platinum Game Boy Advance

Amazon.com Product Description

This is a special limited-edition, platinum-colored Game Boy Advance console.

When you first pick up the Game Boy Advance system, you'll be amazed at how little it weighs. At fewer than 5 ounces and a little larger than a deck of playing cards, the system easily fits into a shirt pocket without any sag. The GBA's wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands. The former design too often pushed the left and right thumb knuckles together during gameplay. The new layout is comfortable for all ages, and the center screen orientation makes it easy to see.

Game Boy Color owners will find the GBA's larger screen somewhat darker than they're used to, but that's because the screen is outfitted with antiglare technology. Like the old Game Boy Color, the color LCD is not backlit, so you need pretty good light to play by. Unlike that system, though, you won't be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the hot-spot reflection of the light bulb in your screen.

But you'll also notice the graphics. Sporting what's basically a redesigned SNES technology, you'll see things on the GBA that you see on big consoles, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects--technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to throwing a touchdown pass to crawling through a dungeon. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Gameboy Rules!
First of all,I want to make it clear that I'm not giving this 5 stars because it's platinum but because it's gameboy.I would have given it 5 stars if it was blue, too. The point is that I just love gameboy.I have a GBC too and I still love it as much as I love my GBA.If anyone was ever going to get a game console,I'd reccomend a GBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
this was a realy cool hand held system especially if your playing Golden Sun 1 & 2

5-0 out of 5 stars Game Boy Advance Review
This is the greatest handheld system over. The game are cool because they come all other consoles too. I mean like there making the PS2 hit Grand Theft Auto 3 for GBA, Super Monkey Ball Jr. from Gamecube, and ect. It has a 32-bit processor and GBC only has a 8-bit processor. There are some sick accessories now so you can turn it into a tv, digital camera, mp3 player, radio, and more. You have to get this. The top 10 games are * Super Monkey Ball jr. * Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 * Golden Sun * Mega Man Battle Network 2 * Zelda:A link to the past * Crash Banticoot: The Huge Adventure * Crash Banticoot 2: N-Tranced * Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder * Spider-Man : The Movie * Mat-Hoffman's Pro BMX You have to get this thing now. p.s. Game Boy Advance SP is coming March '03 so you might want to wait for that. I hope you really invest in a GBA and a light you won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars GBA Limited Addition Platnium
I love the GBA, and am amazed at all the cool things that are available for the GBA. At times I wish the graphics were better like that of the the Playstation 2. But you know the deal, want in one hand and ____ in the other. Ha!
seriously the GBA is truly great and the Platnium is a really good looking color, not so generic like that of the see through kind.
Only problems are finding the best light and screen protectors.
I got some screen protectors that are adhesive when applied it had a ton of scratches on itright out of the package.
And the Flood light eats batteries like you wouldn't believe.
The GBA is great because you can carry it anywhere ya want camping, long car rides to the beach. This smal investment in pleasure turns into a television to see your favorite shows, and turns into a digital camera so you can send pics to all your friends via email. It can't ggety any cooler than that.
Games for the GBA seem like there really geared to kids, but some are cool for adults, hey there are plenty of people in their late twenties who are still a kid at heart, but I think they should make a few geared towards us grown ups.
I think they should also make the Simms a GBA game aswell as a very realistic pin ball game that actualy looks like the real kind you play at the pizza joint, that would be cool.

4-0 out of 5 stars GBA TOP RATES
GBA IS THE MOST INTERESTING HAND HELD GAME OF ALL TIMES. IT HAS GREAT COLOR AND LOADS OF NEW AND EXCITING GAMES THAT YOU CAN PLAY ON IT INCLUDING OLD NINTENDO GAMES. IT ALSO HAS GREAT EXTRAS THAT YOU CAN ADD ON TO IT TO MAKE YOUR GAME PLAY EVEN BETTER, GET GBA BECAUSE IF YOU DONT YOUR'RE MISSING OUT ON TONS OF FUN. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars It knows what you have in your hand!
This game is OK for the basics, but don't expect anywhere near a real experience here. I can't tell you how many times I get beat on the last card, with just one higher card, say a 9 high to my 8 high. Always with only one card higher! That's not real. Plus, too many of the players are idiots, while a few are otherworldly lucky. It's nothing close to a random draw, and that's what you need for a real experience.

5-0 out of 5 stars This toy is so fun!
I first played this toy at my friends house and thought, "How fun!"Of course then I wanted the game for myself. When I bought it, I played every game and loved it right away. This game rocks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Card Games is Great !It's from the experts.
Hoyle Card Games is a great way to learn the finer points or learn a new game all together. This CD is free of bugs; the graphics and audio are very good.Hoyle are well-known rules experts.

3-0 out of 5 stars have to learn all over again

Editorial Review

One of the best things about the Game Boy Color is that it'sbasically an original Nintendo Entertainment System that can fit inyour pocket. What this means for gamers is that many of the great gamesfor the classic system are being ported to the Game Boy Color, givingus a chance to re-play (or in some cases discover) the best game titlesfrom the '80s.

Nintendo's own Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is among the first ofthese conversions, and it certainly remains one of the best. Actually, calling this game a conversion really doesn't do it justice. Thisversion actually contains more levels than the original game, includingthe entire Japanese version and a slew of extras (such as a two-playermode).

The controls in this game are easy to grasp--even for novice gamers. All Mario can do is jump (and shoot fireballs with the right power- ups), but it is amazing to see how much gameplay can be squeezed fromthese simple actions when the controls work in direct harmony with aplayer's thoughts. The only element of this game that could have beenbetter is that the Game Boy Color's screen isn't quite large enough toshow the entire layout of the original game screen, so players mayoccasionally need to press up and down on the control pad to see someoffscreen action. While this can be distracting, it ultimately hasminimal impact on gameplay. If you are looking for the quintessentialside-scrolling platform game, you can't do much better than SuperMario Bros. Deluxe. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Classic side-scrolling action gameplay
  • Lots of extras
Cons:
  • Screen isn't quite big enough to show the entire layout of thegame

5-0 out of 5 stars Momma mia, what a come back!!!!!!
I was a vivid gamer back in the day, and Mario was always one of my all time favorites. I have long since moved away from the video game scene, but now and then I play the classics on the PC. And when I played this version, I was amazed at how great it had been revived to the GBA. The graphics are the same, the gameplay is the same, the sound is the same, but there is new extras and bonus stuff, a pathway to choose, multi player ect.. I have to say this is the best Mario Bros. (1) game ever! Even better then Mario All Stars (snes) version!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best
i had this game and its great i love the fact that it is exactly the same except for the fact that instead of 3 lives you start out with 5 and when you die you are asked if you would like to continue or start over. two great pros to the classic game which make it even better. also the new levels are challenging but great. i lost my copy of this game a fewyears and now i cant find it anywhere! :'(

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Mario Bros. Deluxe - A True Classic
Super Mario Deluxe was my first Gameboy game ever.It was my first video game ever.It was my best video game ever.Even after buying 16 other Gameboy Color and Advance Games, this is still one of my favorites.
I know what you are thinking: This is a Gameboy Color game!It must have horrible graphics and ridiculously simple gameplay.Well, you are wrong.Yes, it is a Gameboy Color game.Yes, I bought it 2000.But, it is a great game. The graphics are blocky (What do you expect from a Gameboy Color game?) but still pretty good, and the gameplay is anything but simple.
You play as Mario, and you have to collect gold coins, jump on enemies, and save Princess Toadstool, more commonly known as Princess Peach. Once you complete every level in Regular Mode, you have to go through the same levels again as Star Levels. They do have minor changes to make them harder, such as replacing Goombas with Buzzy Beetles, but they are pretty much the same as their regular counterparts. Also, as you complete each level in Regular Mode, it becomes available in Challenge Mode. When you complete a certain amount of the game, the You Vs. Boo Racing Option becomes available. (You can also race against a friend via a link cable.)After you complete more of the game, the Super Mario Bros. 2 Option becomes available. But, that is still not all.You get a table of ten high scores that you can combine with a friend's table. You unlock pictures for your photo albums and other features that can be printed with a Gameboy Printer (which hardly anyone has) and you can tell your fortune and record important events on a daily calendar.Whew, that's a lot of features!
As you can see, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a very complex game.It took me two months to complete the Regular and Challenge Modes alone, and I haven't fully completed any of the other modes.Super Mario Bros. Deluxe never gets old, though. When I brought it to school in 2003, four or five kids were swarming around me asking to play it, more people than were ever asking to play a Gameboy Advance SP game all at once.I have summarized my review in the following list of pros and cons:

Pros:

It has tons of different features and modes.
It takes a very long time to fully complete.
Even after you beat the game, it never gets old.

Cons:

It has blocky graphics.
Many of the features require a Gameboy Printer, which not many people have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow

This game is the account to the SNES version, its graphics are way better than the original, it even holds alot of secrets, EX. Get enough points and you can play "The Lost Levels, boo race" and more! not to mention this game is such a great gift for the little ones, it is so easy, my little brother (Whose is 6) has almost completed the game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!
I have this game and I Love It. It is a challenging game and teaches good stradgy.I rate this Game 5 stars. Buy This game you will love it (or whoever you are getting it for will). ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This is one of those games that, while it fails to knock your socks off,is thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. Playing as the anatomicallyimprobable Katarina, you roam the sea in a variety of boats and travel by footover islands filled with forts, monkeys, and pirates. The game includes a storyabout a secret birthright, a one-eyed bad guy, and some handsome dude whom Icall Marquis de la Moustache--you can fill in the blanks. All you really need toknow is that you have to wander around collecting stuff and killing giant crabs. This turns out to be surprisingly pleasant, in no small part because of theheroic soundtrack. Dispatching enemies to the sounds of swelling strings andresounding brass is guaranteed to make you feel spiffy. It's like starring in anexpertly crafted B movie.

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat is in fact surprisingly fun given thatnone of its component parts are all that impressive. The graphics are nothing towrite home about, the combat system is ordinary, the characters generic. Buteverything about the game, even its standard-issue story, has an earnest, irresistible charm. Though there are plenty of battles, the vibe of the game isgentle. After all the bloody, "edgy" games we have seen lately (and believe me,the deluge of blood and edginess has barely begun), there is somethingrefreshingly old-fashioned about a game whose vanquished characters disappear ina discreet poof. With a straight face, the game asks you to collect magicseashells, travel through magic portals, and talk to birdies. I almost foundmyself looking around for My Little Pony.

The only really annoying thing is Katarina's inability to walk uphill. Here's awoman who can dispatch three pirates simultaneously while doing a backflip, butwho can't walk up the gentlest grassy incline. Ascend more than a few feet, andKatrina slides down like a snowboarder. She looks darn sporty doing it, but whenyou're trying to investigate a burning mansion or some other interestingfeature, it's very frustrating.

This game is a good time, even if your socks are still on when you finish.--David Stoesz

Pros:

  • Stirring soundtrack
  • Free-wandering adventure
  • Straightforward, pick-up-and-play fun
Cons:
  • Inability to walk uphill
  • Awkward camera management
  • Short (about 20 hours)

4-0 out of 5 stars ARGHHH... MATEYS! IT BE A GOOD GAME!!!
One of the most underrated games for the PS2 along with Beyond Good and Evil. This game is a lot of fun as you explore islands for treasure, fight giant crabs, pirates, and other evil doers, and best of all, fight on the open sea with cannons blazing! I love pirate games and there are few out there that satisfy. If you like Pirates of the Carribean then get this game. The only complaint I have is the ending was sort of a let down (I like a good long FMV). Otherwise, worth its weight in gold.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pirates: Legend of the Black Kat
The game is addictive..... I find myself going back to it, to wage another battle with a Manowar or to hunt for more treasure.
The only frustrating thing I find is that sometimes the camera is difficult for me to direct in the direction most helpful while I am in combat.

5-0 out of 5 stars buy this game for the ship battle
the two player ship battle mini game rules and that feature by its self makes this game a must have

1-0 out of 5 stars can't find the fun
A very boring game. Nothing to do but run around and become bored. The sea battles are nothing to brag about as they are boring as well except they have more noise when a ship blows up. Got to the end of this game and thought, "wow, I never knew it was so cool to be bored."
Same enemies over and over again, except at sea, as the game progresses, one runs into more and more ships.
But on the upside, the game is like a Disney trip. At Disney land, you can stand in a long line and be bored and when you get to your ride, you are too tired to be excited. Same in this game, spend all day running around and when you get into a battle it is so boring that you might feel like saying, "wow, this is so cool to be bored."
This game wouldn't hold the attention of a 4 year old. In fact this game made me think I had ADD.
Rent this first, and then if you think it is cool to be bored, buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm having fun
The game doesn't have that many options and it's kind of repidative but I'm having fun playing it.Basically you're a girl pirate you have a ship and a sword and your dad dies.Ya kinda sucky but you start going around beating people down.

The ship concept is awesome, basically you start out with a ship with 2 cannons then you get more money and your ship gets bigger and you get alot more cannons. How many more cannons you ask?Well a big boat holds 50 cannons per side, not bad... Oh ya you get different thingies (Sorry can't remember what they're called) to put on the front of your boat.Like one lets you ram other evil boats, one lets you shoot lightning cannons balls etc...

I like the ship concept better then playing as the girl, but shes pretty cool, she gets two swords and you get different betters swords as the game progresses. The fighting style is like fencing, it looks pretty cool

Well that's all I have, I liked it and had fun playing it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Although the game will seem very familiar to Sonic fans, SonicAdvance is an entirely new creation that's been built from the ground up.The gameplay, graphics, and sound borrow from the classic Sonic games on theGenesis and are successfully translated to the Game Boy Advance. The game'ssingle-player modes are relatively short 2-D platform rounds--each run takes twoto three hours--but replay value is added through the game's various characters.Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy each have different abilities that make gettingthrough the game a unique experience.

The real star here is the game's link capabilities. The Chao Garden allows youto raise your little critters and upload them to the GameCube via the link cable andSonic Adventure 2:Battle. Having one cartridge lets up to four GBA players compete in oneminigame. Gamers can play two additional minigames if each player owns acartridge. Although the single-player game is quite good, the link options givethe title tremendous value.

The only notable problem stems from the series itself: There are still entirelytoo many cheap deaths resulting from the title's high-speed gameplay. You'llfind yourself zipping along a level only to be hit by an obstacle you had littlechance of seeing, let alone avoiding. Ultimately, the only way to get past thesehazards is to memorize where they are. This minor flaw doesn't detract from thegame's excellent value, though. Sonic Advance offers a very goodsingle-player game and some of the best link options of any GBA title.--Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Classic Sonic gameplay
  • Outstanding link options
  • Four characters add to replay value
Cons:
  • Classic Sonic cheap deaths
  • Single-player runs are short

1-0 out of 5 stars What's the big deal?
What's the big deal with this game? It's not fun at all. It's way too fast. I mean, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was fast, but not like this. In this game, you can't even see where you're going. And there's no explanation for anything. I was expecting a cool action/platformer with a few story segments. Instead, I was dropped straight into the first level with no explanation, and there was no break-up between levels, boss battles, and worlds. I was just so confused. It moved so fast that my eyes hurt, and I didn't understand it. It was a big fat waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonic Advance rocks!!!
Sonic advance is a great Game. If you Like action Games or The Classic NES series Gameboy Advance Games, you should get this Game. I've played Sonic Advance 3, but the original Game is alot better. 4-0 out of 5 stars Sonic on a Nintendo system? Is the world ending?
At the dawn of the twenty-first century, Sega shocked their long time fans. The company aborted production of its (relatively-new) Dreamcast console, and decided to become a third party exclusively. This meant the unthinkable would be happening - Yes, the Sonic The Hedgehog series was going to be on Nintendo systems! And a traditional-style Sonic game got released on the Game Boy Advance not long after. Read on for my review of Sonic Advance.

PROS:
-THE GAME PLAYS EXACTLY LIKE ITS SEGA GENESIS COUNTERPARTS. If you played the old Sonic games on the Genesis, you're going to feel right at home with this game.
-IT'S A TOTALLY NEW GAME. This game isn't just a port of one of the old Genesis games, but rather a new game of the old stylings. This series was long overdue for a revival!
-YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF FOUR CHARACTERS. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy are all selectable. Having multiple characters gives the replay value a huge boost.
-EACH CHARACTER HAS HIS OR HER OWN STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES. Sonic has his classic dash move, Tails can perform a "helicopter" styled descent with his tails, Knuckles has his classic "glide and grab walls" move, and Amy can whack the bad guys with her mallet.

CONS:
-THE ONLY THING REALLY WRONG WITH THE GAME IS THAT IT DOESN'T REALLY BRING ANYTHING NEW TO THE SERIES. To put it simply, if you didn't like any of the older Sonic games, there's not going to be anything new here that will win you over.

OVERALL:

Old-school Sega Genesis gamers are going to feel right at home with this game, and should purchase it without hesitation. The Sonic series (the side-scrolling games in it, anyway) were long overdue for a revival - and here Nintendo gives them one. ... Read more

Ecco the Dolphin, originally an innovative Dreamcast title, has made it to PlayStation2, with newly optimized graphics and design features that correct the main shortcomings of the Dreamcast version--primarily the inadequateplayer guidance. Ecco is a dolphin in a hyperrealistic 3-D underwater world. Players will control Ecco as he is sent back to the past and tries to reinstate the paradise of his future. How? Evil forces have conspired to destroy the planet, and if Ecco can recover the stolen and scattered dolphin power, he can restore the harmony between dolphins and humans.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Difficult
I didn't like this game, because being older than the average video game player, I'm not smarter than the games most of the time.Anyways, I thought this would be fun, and I'm sure it would be if I could figure it out.I even have trouble getting Ecco to swim where I want him to.I don't have too much trouble steering in other games, just this one. I don't recommend it if you aren't an avid video game player.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this game
I am a big role playing fan...that is why I turned in my XBOX for a playstation 2. I just went out and bought Ecco the Dolphin cause I loved it for dreamcast. The controls are a lot better and the graphics are great. So far the only thing I have found wrong with the game is that everytime a shark bites me I jump. Recommend this game for anyone who likes a difficult game.

5-0 out of 5 stars ECCO IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ecco rules! I think that you should rent this game before buying it, I did!!!!! DOLPHINS RULE!!! The FOE has destroyed the great Guardian!!! You must beat the foe in this battle for the Earth's future!! But be careful, there are many dangers!! Like the sharks, eels, and the Foe. My favorite level was Atlantis Lost. That's the level with the Guardian amd I think that level is so B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, here's a tip that will really help you!! Just follow these simple steps, and you will unlock all the levels. Select NEW GAME. Enter GYU GYU ???. The three question marks stand for any three letters of your choice!! Even if the game says that you're done with just entering the first GYU!! Go back and re-enter GYU. Then enter any three letters. Then go to end, and instead of pressing X, press O. After you press O, alot of bubbles should release from the plant on the left side of the screen. After the bubbles have released, press X. Then go back to the MAIN MENU,select LEVEL SELECT. You will then see that all the levels are unlocked!!!! Cool, huh?!?!?! Now you can play as you wish. But, remember this, EVERY TIME YOU PLAY THE GAME, YOU WILL HAVE RE-ENTER THE CODE!!!!!! Well, that's how it is for me, anyays. Remember, my favorite level is Atlantis Lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Dolphin That Saves The Earth
Ecco is an enjoyable game you if loved the side-scrolling-Sega-Ecco games.
What else could you glue your eyes to?
You can interact with other creatures. Use sonar at some turtles and they'll follow you. Talk to other dolphins and do tons of fun things. Do one of your songs to make a shark look like it's blind.
It is also neat when you dive toward the sand and swim in it. You'll see tiny sand clouds come up.
What is also amazing is that you can move boulders around.
When you talk to a dolphin you won't know what might happen. When you do talk to one you might play a game. The particuler games you can play are fish fetch and a race against fast dolphins.
The animals and plants move as if they were real. You will see kelp waving from side to side a bit. The dolphins, fish, turtles, rays, alien creatures, and sharks move with amazing graphics.
The levels you play in are huge. They seem endless and they are diverse.
The levels can have giant eels and sharks and octopus.
Other obsticals await you on your epic journey too.
In one level you are swimming in these tubes of water more than a mile high maybe. Some levels are dark, making it frustrating trying to get out.
There are riddles to guide you on the quest to save Earth. Parts of the dolphins' protecter.
There are many other things to love about Ecco.
Some dolphins are colored differently. The Crimson are black with red fins. The Clan have these fangs on their lower jaw and spiraling red marks. The Resistance are some kind of green color.
The storyline in my opinion is great. I couldn't imagine thinking about a person who hated the storyline of Ecco. It's like the side-scrolling Ecco games, But changed just a bit. You have to save the world from the Foe, aliens that try to take over. In one point in the game you will go back in time and help other dolphins, which don't understand working together, and then they soon realize they must unite.
Ecco looks different depending on the time and what dolphins there are. Ecco can have the Harness on, it's silver and gold and allows you to control machines. The other is the Clan's mark, the spiral I mentioned earlier.

Even though many have forgotten about Ecco in his old games, he's still remembered in this game. As this is all I can say to you, please remember what I said and have a good day or night.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!! I LOVE ECCO!
ok, i dont know what is up with those people that keep dissing this game. this game is amazing. it is really challenging and provides HOURS of gameplay. this is what most video games should be like! i hate a lot of games on PS2 (sports, wrestling, army (ICK))

Graphics: 10/10. they are beautiful. the animals look real. (the sharks are scary!!!)

Story: 9/10 Ecco has to save the dolphin AND human race! GO ECCO! (at one point he goes back in time!!!)

Controls: 8/10 a little bit tough at sometimes but not that bad overall.

Difficulty: 14/10!!! this game is very very hard! some of the levels are dark and you cant see stuff good so make sure you search everywhere in the levels! (it helps if you turn your tv's brightness up)

sadly, i dont have a game shark, or a game guide so im pretty much stuck. ive only made it halfway through the game and i got the game when it came out. rent it first, if u love it, BUY IT, cuz it will take a long time to beat it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Nice Game
Okay, when I started playing Lilo and Stitch and saw that you had to kill the aliens with your gun, I thought: 'Peh. Another leap-and-dodge-em game.' But eventually I got interested in it and nearly passed the first level. (Geez, I haven't even passed level 1 yet!) I had to go online to get passwords for some of the other levels cuz I was getting sick of playing level 1 over...and over...and over...
Unfortunately, the game's storyline is nothing like the movie unlike the PC game. In GBA Lilo and Stitch you have to stop Dr. Pestus and these mousquito guys. Gameplay is slightly difficult. Reccommended for ages 9+.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely cool shooter
First off, let me begin by saying that "Lilo and Stitch" was not strictly a childrens movie. In fact, some of the family issues in the movie were quite heavy. So its nice to finally see a Disney game that isn't geared towards small children and caters to the adult fanbase. The Gameboy Advance game is reminiscent of Metal Slug. Its a heavy duty shooter that will really keep you on your toes. Theres alot going on in this game and make no mistake, this game is TOUGH! But the challenge it presents is a good thing. This is a game where the graphics, animation and gameplay are so well thought out your money will be well spent. Lots and lots of shooting action here. Definitely one of the better Gameboy Advance games and well worth a look.

1-0 out of 5 stars SHAME!!!!
This is a child's movie! There should NOT be KILLING!!There are plenty of *OLDER* kid killing games on the market without Disney selling out!

5-0 out of 5 stars ANYTHING with Stitch is great!
Come ON people, anyone giving this game a bad review is insane, that or they are just assuming a game boy game is going to be as good as a PS2 game or an X-Box game. For Game Boy this game was great, and if you look up the codes and get far in the game, its twice as fun!

2-0 out of 5 stars i'll see u in heck,lilo and stitch....by Dr. Doppler
this game is not very fun at all.
i loved the movie,and i hated this game.(odd,isn't it?)
i instead reccomand treasure planet (PS2) if you are looking
for a good based-on-a-movie game. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Back to the Future!20 years ago!
Remember when video games were in the arcades, and you had a pocket full of quarters? When Chuck E. Cheese was your favorite restaurant, and Aladdin's Castle was a place to hang out not a locale in a Disney flick? If you do this game is for you! In it you will find faithful reproductions of Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout, and Tempest. No updates, no "arrangements", just straight up video games from the early 80s.

Most people have noticed the controls are an issue, and I agree they do hinder you sometimes.Missle Command and Centipede were designed for a track ball, and Super Breakout really needs a paddle.Using the directional pad takes some getting used to.I ended up playing this more on my GameBoy Player for the GameCube which made them a little easier.

But fans of these now primitive games/then innovative will be glad to see them again in any form. The games are simple and immediately playable and addictive.I am a fan of the retro games, and this package has some great ones.I love being able to play ASTEROIDS just as it was in the arcades - a bunch of white lines on a black screen with just a bass line going the whole time!Even the Atari 2600 improved on it with color!

You have to see this for what it is - the dawn of video games. Its nostalgia, a living museum where you can go back to a time when video games were mainly in arcades. You won't see dazzling graphics or complicated missions to complete.Mainly geometric shapes firing dots at each other.:-)But for some reason I love the games for being simple.Just shoot and stay alive as long as you can.And no tokens!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was eagerly anticipating being able to play some of my favorite arcade games from the early 1980s.Unfortunately, the reality of playing them on a Gameboy is sorely disappointing.

The trackball-based games, Centipede and Missile Command, are the biggest letdowns.Using the Gameboy's directional control to emulate a trackball just doesn't work.Centipede works adequately at first, but the inability to make swift moves quickly becomes a handicap.Missile Command is just unplayable. In the arcade version I would typically get a five-figure score; on the Gameboy I'm lucky to make it past the first level.

Battlezone is okay, but the small screen makes targeting much too difficult.I never played Super Breakout in the arcades, but as with Missile Command, the awkward controls make it nearly impossible.Asteroids and Tempest are probably the most successful of the bunch, but that isn't saying much.

The Atari trivia game is just bizarre.Do people really know the names of Atari's designers?

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Retro Reproductions
Both the look and sound have been captured perfectly in this Gameboy Advance version of Atari Ainniversary. Asteroids is perfect down to the look of the high scores. Same goes for the rest of the games---truly amazing considering how small the Gameboy screen is, but every detail is there. The only difference is in the control pad since all of the original games had different types of controls. But once you adapt and get used to the Gameboy controller, this is fun play for retro gamers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Atari Avanced: by Jeff
Atari Advanced is a great game. It has six different classic arcade games so its hard to get bored of it because you have such a variety. The controls are very easy and simple so you can spend time playing not figuring out controls. The graphics arent good, but its really fun and thats all that matters. You can play exiting arcade games w/o having to pay a quarter every time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gaming Returns to Basics
If you compare against today's games, this might garner a 3-star. However, I really like some of the old games because they require more than many games today. This is a very good replica, so it garners a 5-star rating. My favorite is BattleZone (I spit on the recent arcade version of it). It requires good timing, precision and good use of resources (no, you cannot merely holding down on the fire button forever). These simple games beat 70% of the games on the market. ... Read more

When Alexey Pajitnov, creator of Tetris (one of the most addictive games of all time), designs a new puzzle title, fans everywhere perk their heads up and take note. While it's not quite up to the irresistible standard set by its legendary predecessor, Microsoft's Pandora's Box: Puzzle Game of the Year Edition was named Puzzle Game of the Year by the Electric Games website, and offers hours of nonviolent, uncomplicated enjoyment through its 10 different types of puzzles.

Nearly all of the Pandora's Box conundrums resemble the traditional jigsaw puzzle, though you'll find plenty of visual twists, such as sliding pieces on a circular plane or having to solve a puzzle built on a complex 3-D object. Some deviate from this formula, but the most addictive puzzles follow this model, and those provide the most extended--and replayable--diversions.

For those overwhelmed by complex computer games, Pandora's Box: Puzzle Game of the Year Edition offers a simplistic interface and basic rules, easing computer novices into the puzzle environment. This edition features 40 new puzzle games, as well as the original 350 puzzles from the original Pandora's Box. There are five difficulty levels, plus various hints and wildcards that remove the frustration factor when you're unable to complete a particular puzzle. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Puzzling Experience.
Loved the game. Still do. I have played it many times before, just to get a better understanding of the different puzzles included in the game, and also to try and better my personal scores. If there is a better puzzle game out there, I would like to see it. It has kept me captivated hours on end each time I open up a new account for play, and I will keep playing it for years to come for that reason.

5-0 out of 5 stars A computer game for people who don't play computer games
Pin ball makes me grit my teeth, other computer games are either too violent, too complicated to figure out how to play or too juvenile. But Pandora's Box is the exception. It's the game for lovers of geography, art, history, mythology and for jigsaw puzzle lovers. The graphics are stunning, the music, while not the best feature, lends the right note, changing from African drums to a Caribean beat to pomp & circumstance depending on what parts of the world your game takes you. If you don't want to keep score you can also solve the puzzles on their own. This is my second copy and I hope Microsoft brings out a third installment with new puzzles.

I had played it at a friend's house, and enjoyed it immensely.
A young student and I spent hours just having fun with it.Each puzzle opens up a new dimension.A new way to look at a problem to solve it.

Encourages thinking and problem solving.
I don't know why Microsoft discontinued it, but I found it to be most thought provoking.
Mr. Gates, get it back out there.

1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT THE F*** ?
Did a blind man design the camera system? You can't see who is attacking you! You're getting your butt handed to you becuase you are encircled by a gang and are helpless to do anything about it? W T F????
This game COULD have been awesome, THANK GOD they got it right with spiderman 2. It's a shame because the graphics are good, but the controls are AWFUL. Avoid this like the plauge, spend the extra bucks and get the second spierman movie game....it's a world apart becuase that game is actaully good while THIS ONE SUCKS

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
I loved this game.I have played levels over and over again. It is really fun.I don't think it's all that hard.Okay so the big machine in Oscorp and hiding from the Oscorp is a little challeging, but overall it is fairly easy.I recomend this game to people who love to go across the city via web and to anyone who liked the movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice, but....
Visually attractive, the storyline is loyal to the movie plus some adds to it like the scorpion chracter. Cool combo moves and nice backgrounds. Ok, here's the dilemma, when Spiderman is searching for the bad guys, where the hell is the web hanging from? a cloud? a helicopter that follows Spiderman wherever he goes? I know it's just a little detail but it is very notable. Besides that, the game itself is good but it gets from very easy to very hard from one level to the next. Buy it if you liked the movie, rent it if you want to distract yourself a while.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT WHAT I HAD HOPED FOR
I thought that I was in heaven during the first eight levels of this game.It was fun and challenging, but I got through them with a smile. But pretty soon it seemed the levels were getting impossible.I tried over and over again to beat some of the levels and i finally realized that it wasnt gonna happen. So i gave up.This game is great for anyone really looking for a challenge.I love a challenge... but this game just seemed like an impossibility.Definitely not a game for the younger crowd.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too hard but its an ok game.
Well this game is ok, but there are several cons. You see I got this game and started playing for hours, but it kind of gotboring and hard, so I got tired of it and quit playing. I reccomend you to get this if you like hard challenging games, because this one is. But I dont like challenging games so im planning to sell it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Spider-Man: The Movie brings your friendly neighborhood web slinger to life with engrossing realism, proving that a superhero game of such complex nature can be achieved with nearly flawless and nonintrusive gameplay. Be it wandering the city's environs in search of villains, or just checking out your surroundings by web-swinging high above them, you truly can do whatever Spider-Man can. It's all here: high-flying aerial battles, the ability to web up and yank your enemies close for pummeling, and the capacity for crawling or web-zipping up, down, and over any surface--and that's just for starters. All in all, this is one involved game that does not fail to live up to the hype.

The game parallels the motion picture's story line, steering you through a progression of challenges that begins with the hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer, and ends with a final showdown with the Green Goblin. You begin as Peter Parker dressed in his wrestling costume and must defeat a variety of thugs throughout each level before advancing to the next set of challenges. The game gets progressively tougher as you encounter, in turn, Shocker, the Vulture, Scorpion, and, of course, the Green Goblin.

Visually, Spider-Man is a treat: cityscapes unfold in realistic detail and are enhanced by sunlight shining between buildings; cutscenes offer seamless animation; interiors are painstakingly re-created; and Spider-Man and his enemies are well rendered, moving about the screen in clean fashion. As an added bonus, most characters are voiced by their movie counterparts, and the training mode features the sarcastic wit of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. --Larry White

Pros:

  • Detailed controls bring Spider-Man to life
  • Challenging gameplay enhanced by numerous fight styles
  • Stunning visuals at every level
Cons:
  • Camera angles slow to respond at times
  • Some interiors too dark
  • Repetitive one-liners

2-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
This game isn't nearly worth what I payed for it. The camera for the game is backwords and you can't fix it, and it has other camera glitches that get very irritating. I decided to get a cheat so I could play the last level instead of wasting my time, but five minutes looking for the cheat wasn't worth playing the last level. I beat spider-man 1 for the playstation 1 at least 7 times and I would recommend it instead of spider-man the movie if you have a playstation 1. (...)

2-0 out of 5 stars im sorry this games pathetic
its waaaaaaay to simple it takes 5 minute a mission thats 5 times 22 it equals 110 minutes of gameplay that not even two hours.even oon hard mode its simple.Im sorry i just dont understand why it got peoples choice but i hate it. but the graphics are all right and the fighting is all right thats why it got 2 stars. But its just way to simple even on hard mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the most fun game in the world! You can throw tires at the bad guys!Fighting Vulture is the best!FUN FUN FUN!!(...)

4-0 out of 5 stars Does whatever a spider can....almost
A key part of the marketting machine for summer blockbusters is a tie-in game. Usually these are horrible efforts, lacking originality, taking major liberties and expecting the license to sell the resulting mess. Amongst a sea of these, Spider-Man is a tie-in game done right.
The story of the game is similar to the film but also takes cues from the comics as well as some ideas from the game creators. You start off on the trail of Uncle Ben's killer, swinging from roof top to roof top to try and get information from local thugs (the implausibility of them all being on the rooftops as they are is nicely spoofed in the dialogue of a side quest). This leads you to a warehouse where you discover your Uncle's killer is a gang leader. You have to battle through the rest of his goons to ultimately get a showdown with him. Afterwards the game has you facing off against well known Spidey villains as well as OsCorp, who are after Spidey to study his blood for their human enhancement serum. After getting familair with all your skills and staying one step ahead of OsCorp's efforts, your greatest enemy enters onto the stage- the sinister Green Goblin.

The range of combat available is impressive. The game takes Spidey's webbing and agility into account to create some interesting attacks. Web enemies up, swing them around and even go for a piggy back ride. Your attacks can be upgraded by collecting golden spider icons hidden throughout the levels. The more attacks you unlock, the more fun you can have combining them into cool combos to take out enemies. The levels are large enough to encourage exploration and experimentation. That's not to say that there isn't problems- in the outside levels, trying to go down to the sidewalk will cost you a life. You're stuck just swinging from building to building and fighting airborne enemies. Thankfully this has been corrected for the sequel.
Completing a level requires you to fill mission objectives. For example, you may be required to help the police fight thugs, rescue civillains in peril or keep up with a fleeing villain. If you know where you're going you should have no trouble completing the neccesary tasks.

The game has some star voice talent in the form of Toby Maguire, Willem Dafoe and Bruce Campbell. Maguire's work as Spidey is a mixed bag- sometimes he nails his lines and other times he sounds like he wants to be elsewhere. Spidey will throw out random quips as you play, which your enemies will reply. Call them ugly and they'll tell you where to shove it. Sadly, the game seems to favour the same one liners over and over which can get annoying. Dafoe plays Norman/the Goblin as well as he did in the film. He really seems to be enjoying himself and makes Goblin the menacing villain he needs to be. Campbell brings his well known humour to the game. He's the narrator for the training levels and the in game tips you'll encounter early on. He brings a spirit of fun to the proceedings, coming out with some of the best lines of the game. Didn't take the training levels before you started playing the game? Campbell will put you in your place.

A fun part to the game is the cheats and unlockables. A well thought out bowling mini-game, animation tests and the ability to play the game as the Goblin are waiting for players who rack up enough points. The Goblin is well worth unlocking. Although the levels are the same as Spidey's, the Goblin (Norman's son Harry looking for answers) has different powers including super speed, pumpkin bombers and the Goblin glider.

In all, a great game and a display of how tie ins should be done. The sequel may have improved on most areas, but the original is still worth picking up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for Hours
I am 11 and I first played this game at a friend's house, and could not stop.I heard that it was not being made anymore.I found it used and new on amazon.it arrived two days later.it is fun for everyone in my family, me, my little sister, my mom, and my dad.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Wrath of Cortex could be better
I am a big Crash fan but this game wasn't what I expected for a next-gen sequel to the other PlayStation games. The graphics are pretty bad for an Xbox or GameCube game, and the levels are just a little bigger. It doesn't compete with other games anymore because it has stayed very much the same from the others, which were made in the '90s, even if this hasnew vehicles and bosses (There is also another unlockable move, which is tip-toeing, I used it once the entire game, and I didn't even need it).Speaking of boss battles, they were frustrating, but still quite fun.So to Crash fans, you will like how this game is more challenging than the other games, but will feel as if you've experienced the game before in its predecessors. However, Traveller's Tales did good in keeping it like the other games even if that became the thing I didn't like about it.It's got a good price, but I think it's only worth a rent to beat it, unless you are a "real" Crash fan and want to get 100% completion. If you're not a Crash fan, don't even bother with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars best platformer on xbox
XBOX has a lot of great games but lots of platformers are crap on xbox. lets face it thee trys lately have been awful. blinx the timesweeper whiplash zapper all that crap. thats why crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex is the best. the graphics are stunning. better than the ps2 version. basically the goal in cb woc is to go trough hublevels to get crystals. if you already played a crash bandicoot game you know the drill. there will also be timed relic challenges. and you will have to collect every box in a level to obtain a gem. once you collect every item in the game you can open up a new superworld that will give you another stage of levels. you can tell by the level layout that the developers were really using a lot of creativity. the boss battles are a nice addition. and another way cb woc towers over your mediocre platformer is the difficulty. crash has gotten signifigantly harder. remember how hard the original crash bandicoot was. well this game is even harder than that. so the difficulty is a nice change of pace for the levels. you get new veichles in the game too. a titansuit- you get acess to this veichle in- droid void crate balls of fire and cortex vortex. you also can use a jeep. youll get acess to this veichle in- jungle rumble and smokey and the bandicoot. youll also get acess to a submarine you can use it in- h20 and coral canyon. youll also get a copter pack you can use that in-farehinheit frenzy. you also get a scooter you can use that in- tsunami avalanche. you get a crash glider you use that in- tornado alley that sinking feeling crashstroids 4th boss level. and latly you a spherical moonball which you can use in- bammboozled eskimo roll medevil madness. also cb woc has shorter load times alot shorter load times than the ps2 version. overall with so many horrible platform games on the market. you should buy or at least rent this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars wow
are you ready for crash bandicoots best adventure yet. if you answered yes you have to buy this game. it has wonderful eyedazziling graphics huge gameplay advancements and increased difficulty level. there are 30 much larger and much harder to explore worlds plenty of scenery and some of the best boss rounds in a game. crash gets to his disposal 8 new veichles. a spherical rollerball a submarine a firefly plane a jet glider a copter pack a sleek moter scooter and an enormus titan mech suit. all of these veichles are awesome theyre generally used to get out of a level. theres tons of secrets to be unlocked an a new hub world addition. you canget to it after collecting everything in all the levels. crash looks sounds and plays better than ever. if you ask me this is the best platform game on xbox. just think of what is a better mascot blinx the timesweeper or crash bandicoot. crash bandicoots sold millions of copies on psone and now hes proving himself on xbox. forget all the other lame platformers and get crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex.

5-0 out of 5 stars if you have an xbox and like platformers its a no brainer
this is a fun game. it has wonderful graphics hard bosses lots of crystal clear envirorements lots of veichles to drive. and captures the oozing sense of crash bandicoot. if you have an xbox and like platformers crash bandicoot woc is a no brainer. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as fun as I thought
I expected this to be a lot of fun, but it isn't.There's no real guide to the game, so a lot of the little details (how to raise the beauty rating, park rating, buildings broken down, descriptions of different buildings--what they do, etc) has been left out.Freeform is kind of nice, but you can't practice raising the beauty rating.Scenarios are ok, but the intermediate scenarios are a lot harder than they should be.If you really like a challenge, this is for you.But I was expecting a little more. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Chamber of Secrets has been opened.
The game Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the PS1 is very fun. Now I'm a master at video games but when I got this game 3 years ago, it was very difficult (and it still is). I beat this game like 2 years ago, and I still play it. The Harry Potter and the Prisiner of Azkaban game is way much easier than this. That game took me 2 weeks to beat it. This game took me nearly a year beat! The graphiics may stink (It's PS1 and not Xbox) but this is still a really hard and fun game. You can drive the flying car, go to Ron's house, play quidditch, find secret passage ways, explore Hogwarts, and duel other people. Doesn't all that sound like fun to you even though the graghics stink. This game is way much better than Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Don't you think so?

4-0 out of 5 stars Good...but not great.
This game was fun, but I didn't like the loads(they took WAY too long.)Also, the camera was a little strange.I did like all the secrets and passages.Overall, it was good, but not great.

3-0 out of 5 stars Jump from platform to platform to platform to platform . . .
If you have the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD and watched the preview of the video game on the extras disk, THIS IS NOT IT; that's the Playstation 2 (or "better") game you're seeing. This one is a pale imitation. You mostly run around Hogwarts, shoot little balls of light out of your wand, and face sequential challenges, all of which seem to revolve around precision-jumping from one platform to another.

It's not a BAD game; it has it's moments. But it shows that even the irrepressible Harry Potter can't escape the Curse of the Movie-Spinoff Video Game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Yes, It's Fun the First Time...
When I drove home with the game, I searched the instructions at the beginning, noticing exciting changes like the increase in the size of Hogwarts. Now that I think about it? Big whoop.

To be frank, I cannot see for the life of me why, if you have a better gaming platform, you get a better game. I played my friend's version for Playstation 2 and there is SO much more to do. Hogwarts seems to be based off the movie version, as it is huge and has things you would actually see. In the PSX version, you are in corridors that do not follow Hogwarts standard (maze-like) The worst part, in my opinion, is the Gryffindor Common Room. One would just love to have a look around, right? Hah. In this game you have very little to do.

I guess I'm more or less a stickler for roleplaying, and was hoping the game had a more realistic tone to it. Repeating what An Amazon.com Customer said, 'Prof. Lockhart looks like someone hit him with a can opener. Dobby looks like a rat. Colin Creevey is tiny, and Ginny Weasley looks like a pig.' It's all too true. I would love to have moving staircases, secret passages only avaliable with certain spells and more prefects roaming the hallways at dark...it adds a sense of adventure to the entire thing. Oh, by the way, even though Harry FINALLY TALKS, his mouth never moves (or if it does, the inside of his mouth is the same color as his face)

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game, but rather short
All in all, I loved the game HP and the CoS.It was fun and not so difficult that you get frustrated enough to throw the controller at the screen, while at the same time not so easy that you felt you were playing something for five-year-olds.However, it was pretty short.I finished the game in one day, in about twelve hours.I've seen a lot shorter games, but I think they could have added more and made it longer. It only took me that long to get one hundred percent completion, including accessing the Founder's Tower--the contents of which, I must say, were rather pointless and disappointing--with no help from the internet or friends.I feel it necessary to add that I am no expert--I'm no more than mediocre.

My favorite parts:

Fighting Aragog
Looking for Wizard Cards
Fighting the Basilisk (which, in contrast to Quirrel of SS, was overly easy)
Dueling

My advice to the makers:

Make the next game a little longer, a tad bit more challenging, but not overly so, and make the Duelling a side game for two players so that you can challenge one another. That would be wicked! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Parents- Please Read
This review is not to critique the game and say if it's fun to play or not.I'm writing as a parent of a just-turned-6 year old boy who was loaned this game. While it is rated "E", and you may think it's safe for your kids like "Finding Nemo" or "Cat in the Hat" which are also rated "E".This game is VASTLY different. If you love your child and don't want him or her to see images of Spider-Man being ambushed by 5 gangsters with machine guns in the opening minutes of the game, then I'd suggest you pass on this one.
My son cried his eyes out for 5 minutes when I told him he couldn't play it anymore, but then happily went on to other activities. It was hard to tell him no, but I'm so glad I did the right thing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pack spidy up for the academy arwards.
Spider man is fun for me tell you get to let's say the 4th level. But It is a good game. The most challengeing level is the 2nd one. Here you can try to get out a collapsing building.Just remember to watch out for the bad guys. The sound is awsome.Unlike Pacman collection you can save your score and save the game. The color is nice exept in a dimm room It's hard to see without a GBA worm light [And I can see frogger in the same room].You need a plan to get into level 5 [which I haven't figured out yet] because you need stratgy to get to level 5 and keep your helth up. Kids under 6 probaly need to wait a year or two. In this game you can live the movie and have a ball.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool
I got this game for my birthday and I love it. Action, Villains, dying, absolutely no getting past Kraven The Hunter, But still. I like this game a lot, but I like the movie Better. Although it's rated E, it has more violence than Samurai Jack, rated T. I'm sorry that I couldn't make this longer, but like I said, I'm only up to Kraven The Hunter. But still, it's fun. Well, that's it. I hope this review has helped you and encourages you to get this GBA game cartridge.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spiderman Game Boy Advance
This game was so cool, and it has variety of enemies so you won't get bored with this game. And this game sure will make you addicted (in a good way of course.) Anyway, what I'm trying to say was that this came was really COOL.........

5-0 out of 5 stars 4th Spidey Adventure is a must own
Starting back with the first Spiderman adventure for Gameboy color I have played all of Nintendo's spiderman games. All of them have been great and this is no exception. What I liked best was the brand new style they gave Spidey. It sets it apart from it's predocessors. And apart from a few lackluster bose battles (which are all original) there is great gameplay to be found. The makers don't delve too much into the big plot points of the movie but the story comes along nicley. Add that to tuns of secretrs to unlock and you have a unbeatable combination. Can't wait till Spideys next adventure. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars whatever
EA still hasn't gotten Bond right. It's not terrible, but it's not great.

First of all, it's pretty short. 11 missions, and not very long missions at that. The a.i. is tolerable, but the only reason the a.i. gets you is because the game throws wave after wave of them at you, not because they're actually intelligent. I breezed through the first half of the game, but then it got tedious. There's a part where you are out amongst cranes and crates trying to fight off snipers on the roofs. Problem is, you can't really see them, and there's so many of them you can't get out a shot without being torn to shreds. It's sort of like EA thought that part in Half-Life where you fight those fast ninja-like assassins was really great and they'd try knocking it off. It failed.

Mostly, the last half of the game felt like that. EA being cheap to make up for poor a.i. and me just speeding through everything I could, taking plenty of damage, but squeezing out nonetheless.

You get to drive an underwater version of the Aston Martin in the game too. It's cool for the first minute and a half, but then you have to navigate through an underwater mine field in a very tight tunnel and that's when the icky control problems really make themselves known and next thing you know KABOOM.

But there are some fun parts. The tutorial mission is actually quite good. I had a blast on the first rail shooter level, and the first vehicle driving level. The level where you fight your way down the skyscraper is intense and fun.

The multiplayer is decent, but EA's little GOOD or BAD thing is here again, as it was in The World is Not Enough for N64. This means Bond is GOOD, and so are the Bond girls, and so they cannot fight each other. Ever. The BAD players can fight each other all they want, because, you know, BAD people do that. But not GOOD. Nope. This is annoying because you get your round setup and everything, and you're like "THIS IS GONNA BE SO COOL" and then it tells you that you can't have GOOD players fighting each other. It's even worse than it was in TWINE, too, because TWINE at least had a lot of characters.

The multiplayer levels are kinda blah, too. And there's not many of them.

The bots are ok because you can alter the characterstics of the generic characters. Sadly, you can't do this for the characters you unlock which is annoying.

The gamemodes they introduced probably seemed good when they were making them, but they're not very good here. Goldeneye strike, where you collect two halves of the goldeneye key and one person is automatically struck dead, sounds pretty neat, yeah? Too bad it's kinda confusing, and the deaths are very anticlimatic. King of the Hill would be good if it had a Mobile Hill option instead of just fighting it out in one spot the whole time.

But still, there is at least an ounce of fun in here. If you like James Bond, you should get this, because it's cheap and you'll enjoy it every now and then. Or, better yet, if you want an EA Bond, get the first shooter they made, The World is Not Enough on N64. Nightfire just felt like a poorly designed version of that game(which wasn't the best itself) except with much better graphics(the graphics in Nightfire are the only thing I have no complaint about.)

4-0 out of 5 stars A cool Bond game.
This game rocks. For a new timer at James Bond game I can hounestly say it was good. Graphics were good guns perfect. What i didnt like was they only had one driving level. :( But over all it was excellent. I recommend this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Game Rocks
This game is soooo cool. The graphics I give a 9.5 Weapon choices 9.9. There's so much you can do on this game. If you are alone at home and don't want to do a mission or you just feel like picking some people off with a sniper rifle by yourself, just go to multiplayer and set it up for one player. I'm an only child so I really have no one else to play this game with. When I don't deel like playing a mission I just go to multiplayer and play there. Overall I give this game a 9.9

5-0 out of 5 stars 007 Nightfire
This is one of my favriot X-box games ever! I am an avid Bond fan and have enjoyed all the games EA has put on the market over the years. This enticing first person shooter game combines action packet missions with an excelent plot line. The Guns and gadgets in this game are the best ever (in Bond Games)! But of course, there are bond girls (every guy's favriot part) and in my opinion, the best in any of the games, and movies for that matter. But Guys, please control your selves, as they are not real people (although they seem as they could be). In conclution, best game for X-box you can get for twenty bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars This isn't a game, ikt's an addiction
I love this game. I just finished playing it all the way through, again. The music, the little cinematic headers and trailers between each "level" are both fantastic. This games FEELS like a movie. They could make a movie about this game! I love the different weapons you have to choose from. Each weapon has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
There are different "007" bonuses you can get if you do things just the right way, but don't let that limit you. Most of the time it's more fun to do the game another way. My advice is don't even try for the "platinum" medal. First of all, I think I'm pretty good at this game and I never came close to Platinum. I don't understand how the level could be done much fater than I do them. But I'm pretty methodical and I don't like to leave an ememy alive behind me.
My only complaint is that enemies sometimes appear out of nowhere behind you, even when you're 100% positive you checked everything. I hate that. You need to be able to secure your flank or they'll just cut you to pieces.

My favorite level is the underwater car and the end underwater chase sequence. That was so hard! But exhilarating!

Buy this game, play it, love it. Be it. You won't be sorry. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Most attempts to tamper with the basic gameplay of Tetrishave fallen flat on their faces, but Tetris Plus is actually adecent take on the timeless classic. You can tackle a basic solo game ofTetris, challenge a friend in two-player mode, or go directly tothe best portion of the game: puzzle mode.

In puzzle mode, playerscontrol blocks as they descend from the top to the bottom of the screen. As they fall, you can spin blocks so that they land next tocorresponding colors at the bottom of the screen. Gameplay is just likethe original only with a few major twists. The bin that holds the piecesat the bottom of the screen starts out partially filled, while a littleprofessor character climbs on top of the stack. Your job is to clearlines of blocks so that the professor can reach the exit at the bottomof the bin before a spiked ceiling smacks him in the head. Two playerscan also duke it out in puzzle mode, sending cleared lines to theiropponent's bin. This isn't the best version of Tetris we've everplayed, but it does still manage to offer a lot of entertainment for itslow price. --T. Byrl Baker

  • Several types of play

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Tetris with a twist
Well, almost. The developers added a few new twists, the most interesting of which is the puzzle mode. Each puzzle level begins with the professor standing on a different pattern of blocks. You've got to clear the blocks out from under him to get him to the bottom. If you don't figure out the right way to solve this puzzle, he climbs to the top of the blocks you're stacking up. The game's over when the professor and the descending spiked ceiling collide. This version of the game is entertaining and even challenging, although after a while you begin to wonder why you're trying to rescue a guy who insists on climbing to his death. Other new additions include an edit mode that lets you create and save your own puzzles. A split-screen mode enables two people to play Tetris at the same time without competing against one another. In the regular VS mode, you can still play the computer or a friend. As with most new puzzle games, you can send blocks to your opponents screen when you clear a certain amount from your own -- in this case, two rows of blocks cleared from your screen means two rows of blocks sent to your opponent. If you like Tetris and you1re looking for a familiar, addictive game, this is the answer. Tetris Plus hasn't revolutionized puzzle games, but it's still fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the best Tetris sequel
Tetris became an instant classic when it was packaged with the Game Boy in 1989. But the most interesting thing about the game becoming so successful is the fact that it spawned so many sequels - each of which was unique in its own way. One of these sequels was Tetris Plus, in which the objective of the game was to save a professor from being smashed by a spiked ceiling, rather than scoring lines like in traditional Tetris games. How does this change of pace work out for the series? Read on and see.

PROS:
-The graphics here are much better than those in the Game Boy game of the same name.
-In addition to the new "rescue the professor" mode which is the main attraction of the game, there is the classic Tetris mode you should know and love.
-Like in most Tetris titles, there's a two-player mode (WELL worth checking out.)

CONS:
-The music, while very good, isn't nearly as catchy as the classical Russian music featured in the original Game Boy game.

OVERALL:
Overall this is a fine addition to the Tetris library. If you're a fan of puzzle games, then Tetris Plus is well worth checking out. Sure, it never got the recognition and popularity that the original did, but it's still excellent. Don't pass it by if you're a Playstation owner.
