Amazon.com Review Maze Madness is a bit of a misleading title, because while the game doesinvolve mazes, it's the puzzles that will stop your progress. Most of thepuzzles aren't that hard, but a few will stump you for a bit. There are blocksto push, TNT to explode, and springboards that propel you upward. Players are awarded stars for completing different tasks, such as finding allthe fruit in a level, munching all the pellets in a level, or beating the levelin time-trial mode. Initially, earning one star per level will get you to thenext stage, but you must go back and earn more stars to unlock later levels. Maze Madness' graphics are smooth and crisp, but they aren't verydetailed. The game has the look and feel of a cartoon's minimal lightingeffects. Ms. Pac-Man herself is just a round polygonal sphere with sometextures, arms, and legs glued on. There are a few particle effects in the titlethat look very good, but Namco didn't do too much else to tax the Dreamcast'sgraphics abilities. Where this game excels is in the level design. A puzzle game like this is madeor broken on the ingenuity of the levels. Also, Maze Madness featuressome multiplayer options, which, combined with its simple, family-friendlygameplay, makes it an excellent choice for a party game. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (8)
Go get it you won't regret it and pick up Frogger 2 while you're at it, they're both mad fun Great graphics, great sound and challenging (you gotta think to beat this one)!

Amazon.com Review High Heat 2040 adds some 30 new pitches to the game, and the pitcher/batter interface so crucial to this games success (its the best in the business and it feels like real baseball) is still in place and looking good. High Heat plays a solid game of baseball that just feels right. For perhaps the first time in the series (its been running the bases since 1999), High Heat 2004 was first developed for the PlayStation 2 and then ported elsewhere. That doesnt make much of a difference for most console versions but buyers of the PC version will be disappointed. The port is sloppy. Theres no mouse support and significant blurring at high resolutions (the menus dont scale). PC users are used to accessing all the stats, info, batting orders, etc., at the touch of the mouse. I cant imagine why this happened, because previous High Heat PC games have had mouse support. The PC version also is plagued with minor stability issues and, worst of all does not have any kind of multiplayer. High Heat games have had multiplayer since 2001, and the omission of multiplayer in 2004 is a tragedy. High Heat 2004 for the console systems is a great game, certainly the best looking one yet in the series, but the PC version is much weaker than it should be.--Andrew S. Bub Pros: Reviews (16)

Amazon.com Review Imagine our National Pastime with Bugs Bunny-style pitching, runners who think nothing about clocking the First Basemen to extend their hit into a double, and hot players who burst into flame when they're on a roll. If a pitch hits the batter he either charges the mound like the Hulk on speed, or he cries and crawls to take his base. Everything is outrageous and exaggerated, yet beyond the cartoon antics is a real game where skill with pitching and batting can carry you to victory. All of the major league's players, stadiums, teams, and logos are in the game, letting you really put the smack down on your least favorite team or force a perennial loser to play like brutes. A home run derby mode lets you practice hitting the long ball. One highlight is the commentary, which is hilarious. It consists of one smart guy calling the plays, setting up a gravel voiced idiot for some off the wall comment. Whether its speculating how many candles youd have to melt to make a wax Babe Ruth, or complaining about the taste of his third Styrofoam cup, the commentary is fresh, funny, and it takes quite a while before it gets old. Solid baseball gameplay and strategy--amped up and turned all the way to "11"--is what MLB SlugFest offers players. It's a great way to spend a nice spring day; mix in a little violence and flaming baseballs with your peanuts and Crackerjack.--Andrew S. Bub Pros: Reviews (40)

Amazon.com Review Graphically, no one can touch the stunning visuals and attention to detail thatEA Sports has given to every ballplayer and stadium. Most players' facesaccurately resemble their real-life counterparts (albeit with oversized heads),and they come complete with customized batting stances and perfectly rendereduniform detail. The ballparks themselves come alive in breathtaking beauty as avariety of camera angles put you right on the field and in the seats. But too many inconsistencies and omissions hold this game back from greatness. Most unrealistic is the frequency of home runs and the ease with which you'reable to score runs--the novelty wears off pretty fast after swatting long ballafter long ball and finding yourself tied 9-9 in the 4th inning. Playing at therookie, pro, or all-star level does little to stem the outpouring of runs, anddoes even less to shorten the tedious game pace, perhaps the mostunintentionally realistic part of Triple Play 2002. Fielding could usesome fine-tuning as well. And when does EA Sports plan to reintroduce injuriesto this series? Game modes still feature fully customizable season options and the home runderby, either one-on-one or tournament (up to eight players). But gone from thederby, strangely, is the option to choose from past legendary players andmembers of the 500-home-run club. Calling the action this year is the two-man announcing team of Bob Costas andHarold Reynolds. Costas thankfully keeps things more low-key than his real-lifepersona, while Reynolds dishes the sass like a pro ("This isn't an eyetest--swing the bat!"). --Larry White Pros: Reviews (47)
With that said, there are a few things that bother me about this game: 1) In the game, the home team takes the 3rd base dugout in every stadium. What's up with that? I've been a baseball fan all of my life and pros and cons aside - this is a terrific game to play.I think it might cure my offseason blues.
First, I found the levels of play a bit unbalanced. The "Rookie" level is, as intended, very easy. The problem comes between the two top levels. In the "Professional" level, it takes a short period of time to easily dominate the game. Yet if you move up to the "All-Star" level it is nearly impossible to win consistently without a top team, no matter how good you are. The problem is that suddenly EVERY computer comtrolled player makes All-Star plays on defense on EVERY play and you cannot sneak a fastball by anyone when pitching...even with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. The realism is lost at this level in order to make the computer more competitive. The problem is that this punishes players who really would be unbeatable otherwise. Second, the graphical representation of the uniforms is not as good as in some competing games. This is only a minor criticism and most people would not even notice it. I am nit-picking to be sure. Finally, there is a limit of 24 slots for created players. If you are someone who is interested in keeping rosters current, this will grow frustrating late in the year when more and more rookies get called up and suddenly you are out of spots to creatr them. If you do not care about keeping the rosters in line with the "real world", this is of no concern. Even with these criticisms, this is a fantastic game. It has outstanding playability, incredibly detailed stadiums, complete rosters that are current as of January 15th, plenty of player info and ratings, and tons of statistics to give you every aspect of your game or season. While future versions are sure to continue to improve on the Triple Play brand name, this one is certainly worth the price of admission for true baseball fans. ... Read more

One more thing...It's waaaaaaay better then the new 2004 edition!!
One of the best things about this edition is that you have virtually complete control over your franchise (including drafts, waivers etc.) While the differences between the 2003 and 2002 editions are minimal at best (if you already have 2002 I wouldn't recommend buying 2003) it is a wonderful game that pays for itself in its endless replay value.

I had only rented it, but during my play NBA LIve 2003 was one of the greatest games I've played. You don't get tired of this one. Even though I kind of didn't know how to play at first, once you get the hang of it, you've got it. Here are somethings I like about the game: Killer Graphics, Players What i Did not like: Directions don't really explain alot. The NBA Live 2003 experience was fun, hard at times, and challenging. I would reccomend this game to any basketball, or "I'm waiting for a challenge" kind of person. It is currently avaliable.

Amazon.com Review LEGO Creator: Harry Potter is atypical of children's programs, whichusually run players through a fixed set of activities or educational challenges.Instead, game designers have made a serious effort to leave things wide open andflexible, sticking close to the reason why kids enjoy LEGO in the first place.Players can place LEGO units--animals, characters, blocks, doors, chests--aroundthe landscape of Hogwarts. But this is no mere simulation of a real-life playexperience--this LEGO world is animated! With a single mouse click, playersbring their creations to life. Place a LEGO snake onscreen in this game, and itwill promptly slither for cover. Likewise, the Harry Potter characters--who areincredibly charming when rendered as standard LEGO people--will move around theenvironment created for them, even interacting when they come together! While the complexity of this package makes it tougher to master than many games,a series of tutorials disguised as challenges can smooth out the learning curve.Users explore the school, build LEGO trains, and find lost animals, and as theydo, they learn the lay of the land. The challenges have another motivator builtin: without them, you can't cast all the magical spells otherwise available toHarry and the others. LEGO Creator: Harry Potter frees you to build a stage and place upon itthe well-known characters from J.K. Rowling's novels. What happens next islimited only by your imagination. --Alyx Dellamonica Reviews (36)
In fact, this is a game released on schedule, but before being finished. Its controls are contra-intuitive, clumsy, and v-e-r-y s-l-o-w.It locks up and freezes, some times coming back and executing your mouse click up to a minute after you've thought it didn't take, and have moved on.When it's running, it's sensitve and twitchy. Those who have said the controls are bad or frustrating are being quite kind.It takes hours to get the simplest things set up. Then, when you're finished, you can't actually DO much with your creations. Lego has a variety of software titles and should include good products; perhaps the second title, "LEGO Creator: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" will be usable and fun.
Read Below if you are still going to buy anyways. On the box it says ages 6+ can play and control, well I am 13 and I couldn't even control this! The Harry Potter Legos are still fun to play though.
Difinitley NOT worth the time or money. A shameful addition to any Lego or Harry Potter Collection!!!!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review Like past installments, Rayman 2: Revolution borrows gameplayelements from a variety of different sources, but they are sourcesworth borrowing from. Several elements from Rayman 2: The GreatEscape have been pilfered, including a similar story line.Revolution has a good combination of beautiful graphics, greatcontrols, and enhanced gameplay. This will astound both hard-coregamers and those new to the hobby. There is enough puzzle solving, lever pulling, item collecting, and platform jumping to keep even themost ardent platform enthusiast busy for quite some time. The pirate Admiral Razorbeard and his army of robots have enslaved theplanet, and it's your job in Revolution to help Rayman searchfor pieces of the Primordial Core and summon Polokus to get rid of therobotic pirates. The levels are even the same as they were in TheGreat Escape, although there have been some slight changes made tothe order in which they appear. Due to the power of the PS2 and thedetail put into reworking the levels for the game, they lookspectacular. Ubi Soft has mixed old-school gameplay with graphicspower, and those ingredients mixed together make this game a must-playfor gamers of all ages. Despite the borrowed elements from The Great Escape,Revolution for the PS2 offers up plenty of new things that willmake the hearts of platform gamers skip a beat, just like when theyfirst played Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. It looks likethis time, Rayman will finally get the respect he deserves. --ToddMowatt Pros: Reviews (45)
Many people keep saying that this game isn't any good because it's not as nice looking as Jak & Daxter nor a fun as Spyro or Crash and I would have to agree. One reason for this is that Rayman is not these games, but nonetheless it's a wonderful gaming experience.I know this is a first gen PS2 title and there are tons of better looking games on the market, but I would have to say that I really liked the atmosphere and environments of Rayman. The game was a little slow moving at first but if you have a little patience the intensity of the game will beging to increase as well as the fun factor. It may seem a little childish at times, which to me was fine, but if you need a little more maturity you can always slap GTA3 into your PS2 and get your fix. I gave this game a 4 instead of a 5 for a couple reasons; which seemed minor in the beginning but became very frustrating as the game progressed. The were as follows: 1. The constant loading and then asking you if you want to save was very very annoying, probably the worst I have ever experienced. There are times when you will come out of loading and then go thru a door or down a path and immediately be asked to save or continue and then the game would start to load again.I know this may sound like I'm overreacting, but when you have to go back and forth between areas, this becomes a real pain in the A**... real fast. 2.There is quite a bit of aliasing (jaggies) during the game although it is not overwhelming it is noticeable. 3.The voice acting was subpar and low in volume. There were times when I just couldn't make out what the heck the characters were talking about or what my next mission objective was. Overall this game is a solid experience and ,especially at the new reduced price, a solid PS2 purchase. It may not be the flashiest or most original title on the market, but what it lacks in luster in makes up in spades with consistency.
The orignal on DreamCast was fun, and this port doesn't fall through the cracks.Believe it or not, a bad port can ruin a good game....but RayMan2 for the PS2 holds the magic that the original had.It looks good and it plays good...the part is, anyone can play it.Parents don't need to worry about young kids playing this....it's appropriate for everyone. This game is a great example of 3D Platforming done right...hopefully RayMan3 will be just as good, maybe better!Great game, and makes you anticipate the next one. A must own title, no need to rent this one. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review NBA 2K2 features all the teams, rosters, and, most importantly, rulechanges (like the now-legal zone defense) found in the real NBA. Player faceshave been mapped to realistic body types (complete with tattoos), so you canidentify a big man like Shaq or a speedster like Iverson without looking attheir numbers. The game takes full advantage of the graphics-rendering power ofadvanced consoles by including better texturing, lighting effects, facialanimations, and a higher polygon count to make sure all the jukes, spins, jumps, and dunks are as realistic as possible. The audio is also good, particularly theplay-by-play, which is accurate and speedy. The controls are intuitive--even for people used to the Dreamcast--especially inthe area of on-the-fly play calling. You can now use the right analog stickinstead of the digital pad, so you don't have to take your thumb off the maincontrols (left analog stick) to call a new play or change formations. Othercontrols let you quickly and fluidly box out your opponent, spin, shoot, pass, fake, and dunk. There are also eight street-ball courts, and this addition makes for an almostentirely new game. In this respect, it is the equal of the EA Sports NBA Liveseries. But NBA 2K2 surpasses EA's title with its excellent AI. This gameis challenging, satisfying, and fun in both single and multiplayer modes.--Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (89)
It's rarely unbelievable for a game to increase its success that long BUT when it is that good, YOU WILL have to expect a month or two in order to hit the gamestore shelves! Really the time is fast, but that's the reason with NBA 2K2, with fast-paced gameplay and easy-to-grasp controls where can you find a game this good in any other store? None. I like the graphics, despite the gameplay becoming very easy to learn from and to play; they look so cool, and everything seems realistic, even the player models and faces, it really makes me feel like I'm in heaven! The sound is also amazing, with exciting crowds and slick shoes, and also high flying rim-rattling dunks, it's all inside, so what are you waiting for, go get your copy now!! Overall I like this game, it is simply the best basketball game to date; a lot of people hate these types of games just because they have no gaming taste, but me as a gamer, I love it and it is highly recommended to one of my best friends, Yusef, I give this great game five stars!
You gotta love the Street Ball option. It's fun and a lot more diverse than on NBA Live. All in all, I give this a thumbs up and definately wait for NBA 2K3 to come out because you won't be disappointed. Happy gaming!

Good game to get if you don't have anything to do most of the day.
It is a fine game but the play is somewhat repetative and not so engaging for the grown-up gamer.I expect that younger games would have a good time with this though. That said the graphics are fine as is the sound. The levels and scenes are laid out so that there is plenty of variety which is always a good thing. One thing to note is that on some levels the the doorways are hard to see. They look more like someone shining a light in the shape of a door on the wall instead of a real door itself.Once you get used to this, though, it is very clear where the doors are. ... Amazon.com Review Once the Magic School Bus settles, kids can play inside or venture ontothe surface of Mars. Both areas are cluttered with gizmos that yieldeither a game, an experiment, or a compelling fact. (Did you know thatMars's moons are named for the Greek words meaning fear and panic? Wedidn't.) There's a lot to learn here: kids can put objects likewatermelons and marshmallows into the Pressure-O-Meter to see whathappens to them in the atmosphere, or try to land a module on Marswhile coping with fuel loss and Martian gravity. There's even arover-building station that hones deductive skills as kids decide whether asolar panel or a battery will work best to power their vehicle duringthe Martian night. Attention to detail is what launches Magic School Bus Lands onMars into the rarefied atmosphere of educational CD-ROMs thatentertain as well as they teach; new players can enter how old they areon Earth and learn their Martian age, then later play Mind over Mars, arobot-hosted game show that dishes up tough Mars-related triviaquestions and--better yet--elaborates on the answers. Amazon.com Review The plot is simple enough. Barbie and her little friend Stacie must searchthrough Green Arbor Park for various cute and mostly furry animals to rescue. Each successive rescue presents a more challenging puzzle, and a special prizeawaits those gamers who manage to rescue all 14 animals (we won't spoil thingsand reveal it here). This game isn't just about helping Barbie and Stacie do their jobs, however. These animals need to be fed and played with, too. Some of them must be nursedback to health. And little gamers will likely delight in doing all this becauseBarbie's charges include bunnies, kittens, puppies, and more cute critters. Eventhough the graphics are typically sparse--notably simpler than the old CD-ROMversion--Barbie: Pet Rescue's combination of Pokémon-stylenurturing and the wholesome pinkness of Barbie herself makes it a great, ifoverly simple, game for ages 5 and slightly up. --Andrew S.
