Amazon.com Review

Though it looks like a toy, don't be fooled: the Nintendo GameCube is a powerful video game console that rightly deserves its place among the other next-generation game systems. In fact, its playful, appealing design and small size (the unit is a not-quite-cubed 6 inches) aren't the only features that set it apart from the others.

For starters, Nintendo has quite clearly made this a game-only machine. It doesn't try to play your CD collection, run your movies, read your e-mail, or store your MP3 files. The company has concentrated its efforts on games. All the prelaunch titles we've seen play smoothly, with bright, fast graphics and great sound. Nintendo says its engineers have removed traditional bottlenecks that have, in the past, slowed down processing. New components designed by IBM and MoSys, as well as a large-capacity secondary memory cache, keep instructions moving through the system's microprocessor (MPU) at peak levels. In English: the GameCube is optimized to push speed up while pushing costs down; hence its position at the lower end of the price spectrum.

The GameCube is the first Nintendo video game system to use a disc-based medium rather than cartridges for its games. Moving the software to disc media generally means lower development costs for the publishers, which, in turn, trickles down to the consumer not only in price, but also in availability and quality, as it's then easier to try out untested game ideas (Pikmin, anyone?). While most other systems likewise have their games stored on discs, the GameCube's 3-inch format is smaller than everyone else's, and is so designed to fit in a shirt pocket as much as to deter would-be software pirates.

Of course, the main advantage of the GameCube is that it's the home field of one of the world's premier game designers: Nintendo. While powerhouses Electronic Arts and Sega make games for all systems (including this one), you can play Nintendo games only on a Nintendo system. And Nintendo, you might recall, has been hitting them out of the park since it started with Donkey Kong. In fact, here's a roll call of characters and series you won't find on the other consoles: Mario, Legend of Zelda, Perfect Dark, Metroid, Kirby, and, of course, Pokémon. A few names that the GameCube will share with the other guys: Madden, Tony Hawk, Sonic, Batman, and Star Wars.

The system also comes with four built-in controller ports, so you can easily plug in extra controllers and let friends join in for the multiplayer games--it's even got a built-in handle so you can easily move it to a friend's house. It comes with two memory card slots for saving your progress through games, and there's the capacity for future expansion into the world of online gaming.

In short, the GameCube isn't an all-in-one entertainment system, and neither is it the most powerful of the modern video game consoles. But for video game enthusiasts who want to stick with their favorite characters, its value cannot be beat. --Porter B. Hall

5-0 out of 5 stars You are right and wrong 1 star folks
Okay,I agree with you, this system is sort of childish. But the what you call "childish games" are suppose to be fun for adults. Let me give you some examples.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!: My mom loves this game!

Super Monkey Ball: Fun for all ages (and adults)

There's millions and millions of examples, too much.

Now that I've told you why you are wrong, let me tell why you are right. Okay,I goota admit, there is didly squat of rated M games, and Rated T games are like rated E. Overall, this system is great. I'd reccomend it. If you have have some extra cashola, buy the best system of the year,DS. Make sure to get SM64 DS as well.

P.S X-Box and PS2 sulks,I like Play Station better then the newies.

5-0 out of 5 stars the affordable gamecube
Today I finally purchased a gamecube from a local retailer on sale for just 97$ w/ a free game, Metroid Prime 2(50$ game currently). I figured I then only paid 47$ for the system itself adding in the bundle. (I really wanted the metroid 2 echoes game too) I chose the metallic "platinum" color over the ugly plain jane black one. For me nintendo has far too many kiddie games and just a couple I'd be interested in, but my wife and kid like all the kiddie stuff and I already own an XBOX & PS2 that have more games for the teen/adult gamer. The 3 systems will entertain our family until the hype ends over the upcoming "next-gen" systems (Revolution, 360, & PS3)and they have price drops into 100-150$ each and have 20$ games available as well. If you get a gamecube I'd suggest adding the 1019 memory card for it(30$) and also an S-Video cable from monster cable. I really like the compact size of the gamecube, but I don't really care for the akward styling of it's controller very much, the N64's controller was pretty weird too w/ it's "3rd leg". It's also nice to see nintendo finally using discs instead of old-school cartridges. I was considering a Nintendo DS, but I couldn't justify spending more for a portable system w/ less powerful graphics than a highly rated home console like the gamecube. Maybe the DS will have a price drop down to what the advantage costs now(80$). The PSP is way too overpriced for me to even consider it and it's weak battery life and fragile LCD are major drawbacks to me. Anyways I'm happy w/ my decision, the gamecube is a quality system and you can get a system and games cheap now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best system
This is the best system currently out. It has all the classics and is more fun than the other systems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended.
Any fan of the Nintendo 64 needs this console to add more depth and knowlegde to their already large collection of games. I highly recommended a Gamecube for any fan. And soon the Gamecube Revolution will be released making another ultimate console due out in the future.

1-0 out of 5 stars listen up, fanboys...
all you nintendo fanboys are cramping up the xbox reviews. thats our turf! :p but anyway, you say "oh, the crapbox (wow thats clever) is so bad, all the games are just rippoffs, and they're all for pc, and the controller is huge, and this and that and whatever" well, gamecube stinks even worse. i mean, what games do you have for it? animal crossing? pokemon staduim? please. what's that? there are 'mature' games for it? resident evil series, thats it. name ONE 1st party nintendo game that's rated M. you can't. conker doesnt count, he's from rare. or perfect dark, thats rare too. and rare went over to microsoft anyway when they saw how bad gamecube was doing. even the system itself looks like a Playschool product. who makes a purple console? and to the one who said 'xbox players are losers and loners with no friends', that's gamecube's territory. i'm not gonna call the guys over to play a heart-pounding game of butterfly catching on animal crossing. oh, and nintendo STILL HASN'T GONE ONLINE. xbox live is the greatest online gaming service around. and the xbox controller has gotten progressively smaller as time has gone by. and 3rd parties make controllers that are even smaller than gamecube's. so lets see, if i want Billy Hatcher's Giant Egg i'll get gamecube. if i want GTA AND Halo 2 AND just about every other game you could want, i'll get xbox. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Most under rated game in modern day history
Eternal Darkness for the gamecube is by far the most under rated game in the modern day.

When I first purchased the game, I thought it was a resident evil rip off. I was wrong! Eternal Darkness is by far more better than Resident Evil.

I gave eternal darkness a 5 star must buy game.

The storyline is just perfect and should make a movie out of it. The villian Pious Augustus is one bad cat. Great voice acting that grabs your attention.

Eternal Darkness ranks next to Metroid Prime as the best game on the Gamecube. ED actually gives Resident Evil a run for its money.

This game sometimes just gets plain weird, this is what makes it scary. Play this game 2 in the morning and turn off all the lights. Your in for a time of your life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flawless
I sold my gamecube to my cousin but for this game I'll buy GCube system again. I miss it to play a lot. It is the best of all.

5-0 out of 5 stars A highly original concept executed brilliantly
Nintendo likes to stick to the tried and true methods for their games. There have been at least 30 games that involve Mario or Luigi, 10 that involve Link, 10 that involve Donkey Kong, and 7 or 8 that involve Samus. And, don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily a bad thing, each successive game has brought new innovations to those games' respective genres, but the characters themselves are starting to show their age. Eternal Darkness is a fresh look for Nintendo that they really needed. Before I start, I'd just like to say that Eternal Darkness is NOTHING like Resident Evil and is not technically of the survival-horror genre (Melee weapons are your best bet until you get real far in the game, so you don't need to worry about ammo).

Eternal Darkness starts in modern times in Rhode Island, but you'll spend most of your time as different characters during different time periods, everything from a Roman centurion over 2000 years ago to a Canadian fireman during the Gulf War. Although each character you play as live during different time periods, all the levels are set in one of 4 locations: A temple in the Middle East, a temple in Cambodia, a cathedral in France, or the Roivas mansion in Rhode Island. As you play through as each character, you'll be able to explore new areas that previous characters didn't have access to. Every character has the Tomb of Eternal Darkness, which enables him or her to cast spells. You'll find new items that allow you to cast new spells as you progress through the game. Your characters have physical properties to a certain extent. For example, if you swing a sword or run around for an extended period of time, your character will be panting for breath. They can't attack or run as fast until they can recover. Depending on your character, your speed and stamina will be affected. Max, a heavyset character, is quite slow and loses stamina easily. Ellia, a young girl, is very fast. Michael, a firefighter, is in great shape and can run and attack without losing much stamina.

Also I should warn some people that Eternal Darkness has lots of gore. So, if you don't like your kids playing violent games, you probably won't be too eager to let them play this one. Anyway, you'll get different weapons depending on the time period you're in, but for the most part melee weapons are the most effective thanks to Eternal Darkness's combat system. You can specify if you want to attack your enemies (namely hordes of zombies and the like) in the head, arms, or torso. If you use a melee weapon and cut off their limbs, they're basically harmless (unless they are the "singing" zombies who have a nasty habit of exploding all over you). Eternal Darkness does have some puzzles in it, but nothing too difficult; it mostly focuses on combat.

But, the most interesting gameplay element is the sanity meter. This is an awesome concept that as your character fights the baddies, they slowly go insane. The only way to recover lost sanity is to kill more enemies, use spells, or enter the trapper dimension. As your sanity drops, some crazy stuff will start to happen. I won't spoil any of the good effects, but they include: the walls bleeding, entering a room on the ceiling, and a statue head that turns to follow your movement. There are times that you might accidentally (or in some cases, purposefully) throw your controller because of the sanity effects. I know I did >_>.

Eternal Darkness looks great. The character models are nice, animation is smooth, and there are no slowdowns whatsoever. There are a few things in the background that don't look too good, but you'll be focussed on everything else around you. Eternal Darkness takes place in the dark, so there are plenty of lighting and shadows throughout the game. They all look great, but you'll have to play this game in the dark to reduce glare, otherwise you can't see a thing. If you were too scared to play Resident Evil or other games like it in the dark at night, get a friend over for when you play it.

Eternal Darkness doesn't have much music, but it doesn't need it. There are good sound effects for everything and great voice acting, but it's when you lose sanity that the sound really kicks into high gear. The ambiance is great when you start to go insane. Again, if you were too scared to play Resident Evil or other games like it with the sound up in the dark, get a friend over for when you play it.

Overall, Eternal Darkness is a highly original game that Gamecube owners can be proud of. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't market the game well, so most people I know hadn't even heard of it until recently. Eternal Darkness is creepy, innovative, and, most importantly, fun. You'll have fond memories of some of the sanity effects for years. I believe that if you own a Gamecube you should own this game. Definitely in my top 5 Gamecube games.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the bestever.
When nintendo seemed to be doing everything wrong, in comes eternal darkness. Easily one of the best games for the cube, not to mention one of the best games around. Eternal Darkness has a very well done backstory to it. All aspects of this game are great.

The controls are easy to learn, as are the tactics in the game. Although things were easy to learn in this game, they are challenging to be good at. The cut scenes move the story along nicely, and effectively change depending on which of the three ancients you picked at the beginning. The insanity cut scenes are a very pleasant addition.

Another thing the games did well was being scary or creepy. The insanity cut scenes have no warning, and will give you a good scare. An insantiy cut scene happens when your insantiy meter runs out.

You also have a health and magic meter in the game. The magic meter is there because as you progress through the game you'll learn new spells from the three ancients. Each ancient can defeat an ancient, but is defeated by an ancient also. That is an important thing to remember in the game.

All the playable characters are brillanty done. Weapons that reflect the time that they are in. Not to mention they move according to their attributes, which makes it realistic. Like when you play Maxillion Rovias, he's fat and slow. So when you play him, you can't out run enemies. That's where your skill comes in.

There is no doubt that this is a 5 star game, also there is no doubt that this game is a classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars GameCube and Star Wars: Disturbance in the Force?
Can anyone tell me DEFINITIVELY why LucasArts, et al., are NO LONGER making games for the GameCube?Legos Star Wars and Sith are being made for GameBoy Advance/DS, but not for the 'Cube. What's up with that?

I've heard a number of things:

*Star Wars titles never sold very well at all for Nintendo, whose strength still lies in its Mario and Pokemon franchises, among several others. But not Star Wars games. And in 3rd place in market share behind both Playstation and Xbox, making a 3rd version of any Star Wars game was a guaranteed money loser.(Not so for GameBoy which still owns the handheld domain.)

*The new Star Wars games require more buttons on the controllers. The others have them, GameCube does not.

*GameCube has no game playing interactivity, though I fail to see this as a showstopper.

Your thoughts?I really want to play Star Wars games like Battlefront but unless I move to another platform I am SOL.Any guesses if Nintendo Revolution will address these shortcomings?

5-0 out of 5 stars JAMES BOND MEETS STAR WARS
THIS GAME IS EXACTLY LIKE THE JAMES BOND GAMES. THE MULTIPLAYER IS WAY TOO GOOD AND THE STORY MODE IS VERY CHALLENGING. WHEN YOU SWITCH TO THE LIGHT SABER YOU GO INTO 3RD PERSON MODE. IT IS A VERY COOL GAME.

IF YOU PLAY MULTIPLAYER IT KIND OF STINKS WITHOUT THE FIRST PLAYER HAVING A LIGHT SABER. I ENTERED IN THE CODE FOR IT AND A FEW OTHERS JUST FOR MULTIPLAYER AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY WORKED IN STORY MODE. DON'T I REPEAT DON'T USE CODES IN STROY MODE. ONCE YOU GET UP TO A CERTAIN LEVEL YOU ARE CHALLENGED TO DUEL A LIZZARD AT THE END OF A LEVEL. IF YOU HAVE INVINCEABILITY ON YOU CAN'T LOSE TO GO ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL. YES, YOU HAVE TO LOSE THE BATTLE. YOU CAN'T TURN CODES OFF IN THE GAME SO WATCH OUT.

THEY WAY I DO THE CODES FOR MULTIPLAYER IS TO LET THE GAME LOAD THE LEVELS AND CHARACTERS. THEN WHEN YO GET TO THE MAIN MENU REMOVE YOUR MEMORY CARD. THEN ENTER THE CODES. IT WILL NOT STOP YOU FROM MOVING ON IN STORY MODE AND YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT MULTIPLAYER GAME GOING.

I MADE THE MISTAKE OF ENTERING THE CODE WITH THE MEMORY CARD IN AND HAD TO DELETE THE DATA AND START THE GAME OVER JUST BECAUSE I HAD TO BE DEFEATED IN A BATTLE. WATCH OUT.

THE GAME IS VERY GOOD. IT HAS SOLID GAMEPLAY AND A GREAT MULTIPLAYER. THE LIGHTSABERS COLORS CAN BE CHANGED AND THERE IS A BUNCH OF OTHER STUUF YOU CAN CHANGE.

JEDI OUTCAST IS ONE OF THE BEST GC GAMES.

FOR THE NINTENDO REVOLUTION IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY RELEASE A SEQUEL AND HAVE IT GO ONLINE.

IF YOU LOVE STAR WARS, YOU WANT A GREAT ADVENTURE GAME WITH SOLID MULTIPLAYER GET THIS GAME.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST
This is the best game I have ever played and I very highly recomend it. Yet it is also rated Teen due to mild violence because your running around killing people yet itisnt that bad once you get past that.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
I'm 13, but it's easier to use the kids review....
This game is awesome! If you are a star wars fan, you have to get
this. You can do jedi arena and choose from like 6 games, like 15 places, and who knows how many characters! You can customize your character and change stuff such as lightsaber color, force powers and physical abilities. Sadly, there are no vehicles, but this game makes up for that in weapons. It's very entertaining to use grip and hold a guy up,....and then throw him down some stairs or a pit!!!! You can do multiplayer without 2 people, I do all the time and it's just as good, considering the
AI(artificial intelligence) bots. The bots make it very realistic, you can have tons of them and they make the battles fun, being so unpredictable. They will snipe you or sneak up behind you, and they respond to the weopon choices you make and such.Try this game, it's a great game, trust me!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful game
I don't understand why people give this game a bad review. Granted the single player story mode can be a little slow at times, and there is that one level where you can't be invinsible, because you have to be able to die at the end, but once you beat it, you can just warp to any level you want(I personally like to skip, Nar Shadda and go straight to Bespin), and once you beat it, you can play multiplayer, grab a friend or play alone, with 10 bots, there is a capture the flag mode where you can activate invulnerability go to the warring factions level and set human (1 or 2) against computer (1-10), but don't worry because you won't be totally invinsible, that map has narrow pathways and a deep hole under all the map, and you can be affected by force push and grip(you just can't choke to death, but at a high enough level it can be used to move people off a cliff). Now I seem to have forgotten my point, so I'll leave the desicion making up to those who do not have it, but I like the game, I've had it for almost 2 years, and few games could even be considered a rival to it for me. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not as great as expected, but still not that bad
First off, I'd just like to say this is an average game. There are more cons than pros. The game has a good sense of showing the Star Wars universe to you, but most of the time it's just constant enemies reappearing around corners that you can kill with your blasters in 3 shots. A really bad problem about this game is that the structure of the environments are so hard to follow and there are quite a few technical problems as well. The A.I. isn't that dumb, but way too simplistic. You do get a jetpack, you can burn people with your wristwatch, you can use your cable to wrap people up in, or just your fists and blasters to get the job done very easily. Youd do feel like Jango Fett, but you also feel this isn't a sensational game.
A huge dissapointment was when I saw the intro with the incredible, polished, cinematics and then when the real gameplay hits, as soon as it begins, you'll see the graphics aren't as expected. The only thing I think the game almost had to perfection was the sound. Whenever you are in danger or in a battle, the loud orchestra of music begins to play, and all the enemies have the same type of voices compared to the movie. This is indeed a fun game and I'd recommend this to anyone that is a big fan of Star Wars, other than that, it's an average game, for which I give it a 3 out of 5.

5-0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Bounty Hunter rocks!!!!
This is one of the greatest Star Wars games! Not only do you get to claim bounties other than the main baddies, but you can fry civilians! Nothing can satisfy you more then the sight of a well-done resident. You can use a bunch of weapons, like saberdart launchers, twin blaster pistols, whip-cord, ID scanners, and more!

You can't stop playing this game once you start. The graphics are great and the music is fabulous. The voices are also good. Bounty Hunter takes place through episodes one and two, so there's plenty of game play.

You will travel through many worlds and places like the home of some tusken raiders, or the skyscrapers of coruscant. You have to take out millions of Republic guards, aliens, out-laws, and rival bounty hunters. This game is over-all a great, must have game!

5-0 out of 5 stars Where's Meeko!!?
This is a phenomenal game. If your a Star Wars fan especially, you'll be knocked out by the Lucasfilm Archives sound effects (Ithorians, Jawas, Tuskens, and Gonk Droids to name a few).

I don't understand the complaints either with the gameplay. Those who claim to have "beat" the game in a single day are simply playing video games too much. The mere length of the game would require, literally, a day...and that's providing a perfect performance on your debut outing! But then, I suppose anyone who plays video games that much isn't going to be surprised by much; many games have structure similar to this one, but I've seen few pull it off with as much panache and grace. The controls are pretty easy to master, offer a ton of variety, and the enemies provide ample challenge. As far as the bounties go, I had a blast looking for them. They don't offer anything necessary, per se, for the gameplay to take place (in other words, you can simply blast 'em all if you want), but provide a personal & fun challenge, much like trophy hunting in Tournament Melee does.

The atmosphere is simply enchanting, atmospheric and increasingly creepy as the game goes on. Ultimately, as a Star Wars fan, you will be submersed into a convincing, enveloping world that is already familiar to you from the movies. It will be a joy for you just to walk through it!

The voice acting was done by Temuerra Morrison (Jango), Clancy Brown (Montross) and even the woman who actually played Zam Wessel in Attack of the Clones. Extremely well done with great cut scenes and outtakes.

I only hope a sequel will appear someday.

4-0 out of 5 stars Aliens beware!
This game is awesome! With great graphics, great gameplay , and a great storyline. There's so many weapons and devices to choose from you can blast 'em, burn 'em, catch 'em, shock 'em, explode 'em, and just totally demolish them! The only drawback is you have to keep tapping buttons in the middle of a fight to get the weapon you want. And that sometimes hurts your health. It's a fairly hard game and is very enjoyable! It's awesome dodging bullets, fighting dozens of baddies at once, flying around and shooting everything! There's alot of great things to this game that makes up forthe little nuisance of switching weapons around.Stick with the dual blasters and have a blast!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A New Twist on Star Wars
This is a simply amazing game. The graphics are awesome, and the voice overs are great too.In nearly all of the star wars games for any platform, you're a jedi, facing wookies with blasters, and cutting thru them like a warm knife thru butter. This game presents a challenge, not to mention that Jango Fett is awesome beyond imaginable. You face enemies that arent easy to kill and you do so with graphics that are unpresidented for a star wars game. The story line is good and easy to follow and Jangos wit is definitly cool.I would recomend this to any gamer who likes star wars, and a decsent challenge. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Multiplayer is a MUST
This was the first game I bought for my Gamecube. For the most part it was a solid game in Multiplayer mode and a boring game in Single Player. Lets break down some of the aspects to this game.

Multiplayer Play: 5/5. Cant get much better then this. Its fun the sit around the TV with 2 or 3 of your friends and play this game. Its always a race for the treasure or a race for the food item. Multiplayer play wise this game is almost the best out there.

Single Player Play: 2/5. I tried it but it just isnt the same. There is no build up of emotions to get to the chests and theres no teamwork to take down the boss. Its not as fun with only one person I'd stay away from this if your going to play it by yourself.

Characters: 5/5. there are 6 characters to begin the game with and about 10 unlockables that you can unlock throughout your adventures. Plently of great charcaters from a Jester, to a wizard, to a Amazon, etc. Wonderful Selection.

Length- 4/5. Its about an 8-10 hour game not cheating or using any guides. Its certainly worth the $20.00 MAX you would put out to buy it.

In conclusion this game is 100% worth it for Multiplayer action and not worth it for single player action. ... Read more

Wouldn't it be nice to play games without a cord stretching across yourliving-room floor, especially if you have little kids or large dogs in yourhousehold? Nintendo's Wave Bird isn't the first wireless controller ever broughtto market, but it's a whole lot better than what came before. You may remember abrief fad a few years ago with spotty infrared devices. These units failedbecause they were a lot heavier than standard controllers, and also because theyrequired a direct line of sight between the controller and the infraredreceiver. The Wave Bird is much lighter (it weighs a bit more than a regularcontroller) and uses radio frequency signals for reliable game control atdistances of up to 20 feet. Unless your playing on a stadium-size TV screen, that should be more than enough. The unit will last for about 100 hours of useon just two AA batteries and has 16 channel frequencies, so you'll easily beable to hook up four controllers without interference. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Controllers Ever!
I swear by these controllers. I have 3 of them and they are workhorses. Couldn't lose the signal if you tried. Highly Reccomend!

5-0 out of 5 stars My Story on the WaveBird Wireless Controller
I first heard about this brand in the Toys "R" Us big toy book.
On Christmas Eve I went to aunt Helene's they have a cool projector and my cousin Matt played with the GameCube on the projcetion screen. He was busy playing an NBA basketball game, and I wanted to play a game with him. So my mom told him to play a game with him, and I picked Mario Party 4. I had the WaveBird wireless controller. When the game was over I wanted it so badly.
I have a baby brother he's a toddler now so he's curious and I don't have to tangle the wires to prevent him from getting it. Instead I can just keep it in a safe place. Also I play on the floor, and it's more comfy playing on the bed. I haven't got it yet because Mom just ordered it.

4-0 out of 5 stars WhyBuy This When you can get a corded controller?
Why? Because it is much more durable. I own 3 corded contollers which I bought at the same time as my only wireless. The corded ones broke about 1 year hence, the wireless is still going strong. [...] In any case, if you are looking for an excellent gaming experience Purchase this item. SOMEWHERE ELSE!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best controller ever
ok this is so awesome i love it alot because i can play it on my bed when my tv is a lil far distance its so cool i dont have to worry about and cords i have 4 controllers 2 are blue then i have this one and i aslso have a black one but out of them all this one was the best so if i were you i would get it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Wireless Controller of Any System
The Wavebird has set an example for all other wireless controllers. Lighter in weight than the regular controller (although lacking the somewhat cool rumble feature), the battery life of the Wavebird is surpisingly good, lasting much longer than expected. A pair of AA's lasted me all the way through The Wind Waker, and partway through Metroid Prime. Range is excellent, although I find that certain obstacles will cause a little glitching. It has also defeated the problem of the relatively short cord on the regular Gamecube controller. Overall, it's worth every penny. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A New Agent
This game includes many possibilities, and is over the top fun. New guns, and new weapons. The Missions are action-packed and very entertaining. New enemies! Here are some tips:

*When playing Capture the Flag, (if two players are playing) Have a person to get the flag, and a person to guard your own.

*When just playing Nightfire Arena, set booby traps such as using a tribomb and locate it down where the feet of a person would be.

*Do not use Heatseeker alot, because this will usually not work the best.

*Use Sentinal gun,(a big dark green one).

(These guns are in explosives 1)

I hope these tips were heplful to you. You should definatly rent it first and then buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Classic James Bond Adventure
This is a great game. If you like James Bond get this game. If you hate games that you beat quickly then get this. The graphicas are great but sometimes a little dark. Nightfire has a great storyline but a stupid ending. Nightfire has a very high replayability because of the multiplayer. This was a great game. From all the high tech gadgets to the abundence of wepons Nightfire is my second favorite Bond game ever.( The best was Goldeneye for n64)

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Game!

Amazon.com Review

The keys to a successful basketball video game are its controls, artificial intelligence, and pacing. NBA Courtside 2002 excels in allthree areas, with only a few problems. One is the defensive AI, which oftenleaves itself open to dunks and fast breaks, and is generally a slouch when itcomes to rebounds. This can be remedied with the higher difficulty levels, butthat makes the computer a flawless shooter, even from behind the line.

The controls are good, but take some getting used to if you've spent a lot oftime with other basketball simulations. Players use the C stick on thecontroller to pass the ball. No button pressing is necessary; just point thestick at the desired player and the ball is away. Unfortunately, this samesystem is used to select defensive players, and that can be difficult, especially if the action is moving fast and furious. The game does feature quitea few game modes: practice, exhibition, season, and even an interesting modethat takes place on top of the roof.

As you might expect, the player models are smooth, crisp, and photorealistic. The animations are detailed with nary a slowdown or glitch. Even the crowd looksgood, and benched players are likewise in full 3-D. The audio isn't soimpressive, however. Never have I heard such uninspired and slow commentary--itoften seems to be describing plays from another game, or worse, talks aboutplays that happened 30 seconds prior to the current action. Not a game breaker, but definitely not as good as the competition.

NBA Courtside 2002, aside from the minor flaws described above, is stilla stellar entry in the basketball fold and an asset for the Nintendo GameCubelibrary. It's worth the purchase now, and with a few fixes, it'll be a realcontender next year. --Bob Andrews

Pros:

  • Fast action; good fundamentals
  • Terrific graphics
Cons:
  • Slow, inaccurate commentary

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun... for a Ten Year Old
NBA Courtside's an entertaining game, a very easy game to learn and play. The biggest drawback of this game is that it's just too simple. There's practically no skill involved in playing this game. There's very little control over dunks, blocks, shooting, and everything else.

The players and their likenesses are in the game, but in terms of skill and everything else, it's just not there.Players' real-life talents and abilities are not relfected in the game, with the exception of Shaq being a poor free-thrower.

The graphics are also very generic. The crowd looks very bad.The two announcers are those who call Clippers games, and are decent, but their limited phrases get old really fast.

One of the minor redeeming qualities of the game is that you can create your own player. This feature is great in that you can customize a large list of physical characteristics about the player.Of course, when it comes to basketball skills, the attributes aren't specific enough to make a noticable impact on game-play.

So if you're looking for a very simple, unrealistic but easy-to-play basketball game without much customization, this one's for you!If you'd actually like skill to be involved in the outcome of a game, look elsewhere.

2-0 out of 5 stars Basic Basketball title
While this game may be pretty fun, other companys offer so much more and for so much less. This is the prime reason this game was overlooked. If you're looking to buy this, then go buy NBA 2k3 instead. It's waaaay better.

1-0 out of 5 stars why buy this?
this game is the absolute worst game i've ever played bcause...

Pros:
There are none

Cons:
Players make imposible dunks
Graphics are horible
Slow gameplay
Fans are real wierd( they take your attention of the game)

overall the game is real bad

2-0 out of 5 stars TOO HARD!
I was in the store and I was looking at the games and there was NBA Courtside 2002. My Mom was with me and she was going to get it for me because it was on sale. But I told her I would want to rent it first. I AM SO GLAD I DID! the menu is hard to under stand! the D is harder then geting a computer with nothing to read or tell you hoe to put it togethere! And the dunks look so odd. There taking steps before they get to the hoop and there not moving! NBA*Street is yhe only other NBA game I'd played for GameCube and I have.If you like fast running, high jumping, crazy dribbaling game NBA*Street is the way to go.

DON"T BUY NBA COURTSIDE 2002!YOU WILL HATE IT!

2-0 out of 5 stars Gamecube Gives a bad impression
When I purchased this game I thought it would end up being one of the best basketball sims I've ever played. Instead, it turned out being one of the most unrealistic games with fair gameplay and outrageous stats. The average player, whether it is Austin Croshere or Shaq averages around sixty points a game and twenty rebounds and fifteen assists. The league leaders average over ninety ppg. The transactions are so unrealistic and you could trade every single player on the Clippers for every single player on the Lakers, or you could create a tean of franchise players. The average score in a game is 200-190. You can steal and block balls as easy as you can say 1-2-3. Forget about this one and do yourself a favor. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Spider-Man: The Movie brings your friendly neighborhood web slinger to life with engrossing realism, proving that a superhero game of such complex nature can be achieved with nearly flawless and nonintrusive gameplay. Be it wandering the city's environs in search of villains, or just checking out your surroundings by web-swinging high above them, you truly can do whatever Spider-Man can. It's all here: high-flying aerial battles, the ability to web up and yank your enemies close for pummeling, and the capacity for crawling or web-zipping up, down, and over any surface--and that's just for starters. All in all, this is one involved game that does not fail to live up to the hype.

The game parallels the motion picture's story line, steering you through a progression of challenges that begins with the hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer, and ends with a final showdown with the Green Goblin. You begin as Peter Parker dressed in his wrestling costume and must defeat a variety of thugs throughout each level before advancing to the next set of challenges. The game gets progressively tougher as you encounter, in turn, Shocker, the Vulture, Scorpion, and, of course, the Green Goblin.

Visually, Spider-Man is a treat: cityscapes unfold in realistic detail and are enhanced by sunlight shining between buildings; cutscenes offer seamless animation; interiors are painstakingly re-created; and Spider-Man and his enemies are well rendered, moving about the screen in clean fashion. As an added bonus, most characters are voiced by their movie counterparts, and the training mode features the sarcastic wit of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. --Larry White

Pros:

  • Detailed controls bring Spider-Man to life
  • Challenging gameplay enhanced by numerous fight styles
  • Stunning visuals at every level
Cons:
  • Camera angles slow to respond at times
  • Some interiors too dark
  • Repetitive one-liners

2-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
This game isn't nearly worth what I payed for it. The camera for the game is backwords and you can't fix it, and it has other camera glitches that get very irritating. I decided to get a cheat so I could play the last level instead of wasting my time, but five minutes looking for the cheat wasn't worth playing the last level. I beat spider-man 1 for the playstation 1 at least 7 times and I would recommend it instead of spider-man the movie if you have a playstation 1. (...)

2-0 out of 5 stars im sorry this games pathetic
its waaaaaaay to simple it takes 5 minute a mission thats 5 times 22 it equals 110 minutes of gameplay that not even two hours.even oon hard mode its simple.Im sorry i just dont understand why it got peoples choice but i hate it. but the graphics are all right and the fighting is all right thats why it got 2 stars. But its just way to simple even on hard mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the most fun game in the world! You can throw tires at the bad guys!Fighting Vulture is the best!FUN FUN FUN!!(...)

4-0 out of 5 stars Does whatever a spider can....almost
A key part of the marketting machine for summer blockbusters is a tie-in game. Usually these are horrible efforts, lacking originality, taking major liberties and expecting the license to sell the resulting mess. Amongst a sea of these, Spider-Man is a tie-in game done right.
The story of the game is similar to the film but also takes cues from the comics as well as some ideas from the game creators. You start off on the trail of Uncle Ben's killer, swinging from roof top to roof top to try and get information from local thugs (the implausibility of them all being on the rooftops as they are is nicely spoofed in the dialogue of a side quest). This leads you to a warehouse where you discover your Uncle's killer is a gang leader. You have to battle through the rest of his goons to ultimately get a showdown with him. Afterwards the game has you facing off against well known Spidey villains as well as OsCorp, who are after Spidey to study his blood for their human enhancement serum. After getting familair with all your skills and staying one step ahead of OsCorp's efforts, your greatest enemy enters onto the stage- the sinister Green Goblin.

The range of combat available is impressive. The game takes Spidey's webbing and agility into account to create some interesting attacks. Web enemies up, swing them around and even go for a piggy back ride. Your attacks can be upgraded by collecting golden spider icons hidden throughout the levels. The more attacks you unlock, the more fun you can have combining them into cool combos to take out enemies. The levels are large enough to encourage exploration and experimentation. That's not to say that there isn't problems- in the outside levels, trying to go down to the sidewalk will cost you a life. You're stuck just swinging from building to building and fighting airborne enemies. Thankfully this has been corrected for the sequel.
Completing a level requires you to fill mission objectives. For example, you may be required to help the police fight thugs, rescue civillains in peril or keep up with a fleeing villain. If you know where you're going you should have no trouble completing the neccesary tasks.

The game has some star voice talent in the form of Toby Maguire, Willem Dafoe and Bruce Campbell. Maguire's work as Spidey is a mixed bag- sometimes he nails his lines and other times he sounds like he wants to be elsewhere. Spidey will throw out random quips as you play, which your enemies will reply. Call them ugly and they'll tell you where to shove it. Sadly, the game seems to favour the same one liners over and over which can get annoying. Dafoe plays Norman/the Goblin as well as he did in the film. He really seems to be enjoying himself and makes Goblin the menacing villain he needs to be. Campbell brings his well known humour to the game. He's the narrator for the training levels and the in game tips you'll encounter early on. He brings a spirit of fun to the proceedings, coming out with some of the best lines of the game. Didn't take the training levels before you started playing the game? Campbell will put you in your place.

A fun part to the game is the cheats and unlockables. A well thought out bowling mini-game, animation tests and the ability to play the game as the Goblin are waiting for players who rack up enough points. The Goblin is well worth unlocking. Although the levels are the same as Spidey's, the Goblin (Norman's son Harry looking for answers) has different powers including super speed, pumpkin bombers and the Goblin glider.

In all, a great game and a display of how tie ins should be done. The sequel may have improved on most areas, but the original is still worth picking up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!
Okay I only have one complaint when there is a message thing coming on when you are facing a wall and your fairly close when the transmission is over you do crash and die but it doesn't happen very often. Oh, I was about to forget; hey, no Navy planes guy, so what if they're not all Navy planes, I don't care just as long as they're cool, which they are! The firepower is pretty cool too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not that fun...
This game is just not that fun. I go in on hard and the game is still easy. On top of that, you have to fly in specified war zones. If you leave? Game over... Get a real flight game for like the computer because this game is stupid. On top of that, this game has some nice graphics, but that is only in the clouds. Everything else is way too boring. Another thing, the models on the planes are a little too big because sometimes you can hit your tail on the ground and not even really touch it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Here's my review:
I am fourteen years old and I absoulutely LOVE this game. There are eight different planes( actually, one of them is a helicopter, and I haven't unlocked that yet), all with great piloting. There are four different piloting controls, #3 being most like flying a REAL plane. The graphics are VERY realistic. If you get close enough to the ground and fire, you can hear your rounds pinging off the ground. GREAT graphics; on some levels with water you can see ripples in the water when you fire. I don't know if this is with EVERY game, but somehow my game has gotten erased twice. When I got on, it told me the data was corrupt. I'm pretty sure it was just my memory card, though. Many other reviewers told everyone to rent it, but I strongly suggest that you don't. You will not have enough time to unlock all of the extras, and what fun is that? There is also a QUICKSTART option, where you can choose air2air or air2ground, etc. You choose how many opponents, and what map you will play, and PRESTO! You've designed your own war. Overall a GREAT game, and I strongly suggest to anyone that liked Rouge Squadron or X-wing alliance (PC) to buy it. Thanx! <><

3-0 out of 5 stars An okay game
Top Gun: Combat Zones is a game that, on the back cover, claims to allow you to master the Navy's top 5 planes, which I disagree with.First, four of the planes available aren't in the Navy. The MV-22 and AV-8 are Marine aircraft. The F-22 Raptor is Air Force, and the YF-23 lost the contract to the F-22, and isn't in any branch of the military.Second, This game only seems to focus on fighter/attack roles. Combat Zones failed horribly in capturing different aspects of Naval aviation. A good selection of Navy aircraft would probably include the F-14D, F/A-18C, E-2C Hawkeye, S-3B Viking, EA-6B Prowler, HH-60H Seahawk, and P-3C Orion. This would've allowed mission variety, including air to air combat, special forces insertion, anti-surface and anti-sub roles, AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System), and the ever-popular air-to-air combat. But, unfortuneately, the designers made a game that gets old after a while because the only thing different in each mission is the scenery.
I loved the control setup for this game, though. That is, I loved the Expert controls. Expert controls allow you to control the airplanes with realistic three-axis movement (pitch, roll, and yaw). One big flaw, though, was throttle controls. The throttle controls really stunk.
While the control setup was near-perfect, the way the aircraft handled was very unrealistic. I mean, paint dries faster than the time it takes for you to roll completely around one time. Another complaint I have is that you can't really dive inless you roll on your back and pull up. Nothing like real aircraft.
Sound effects were okay, although the explosions sound muted. My favorite sound in this game was your 20mm cannon. The gun in the game almost sounds like the gun in real life (believe me, the real life guns sound a lot different than in the movies.
I did appreciate the graphics. The planes were very detailed, right down to the markings. Everything was in the right spot.
One thing is, I like to play flight sims from a cockpit view that actually looks like a cockpit, and I also like to be able to take off and land. This game didn't have any of that.Half the challenge of flying is taking off and landing, especially for a Navy pilot.IT's been said over and over that it is incredibly unnerving to have to land a 50,000 pound jet on a floating airfield moving away at 30 knots, no matter how experienced you are. This game failed terribly in even giving you an inkling of what flying in the Navy feels like.Anyone can just slap together a "fly in and blow everything up" game.Tsk, tsk.
Overall, this was an okay game. You have to give it a lot of credit because it is the only semi-realistic flight sim for GameCube (hint, hint, Nintendo bigwigs), but I really felt that it didn't do naval aviators justice.
Only buy it if you really truly want a flight sim for GameCube. Otherwise, rent it or wait for a realistic sim to come out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Husband and Son are both hooked on this game!
I got this game for my husband for Christmas and it has been in constant play ever since. The graphics are great, and the game is very entertaining (we even caught Grandpa at the controls!).My 7-year-old son finds it challenging and it is not too overly violent for him.All in all it is a fun and exciting game that probably won't be set aside any time soon!Have FUN! ... Newly optimized for GameCube, SpyHunter is a mission-based combat racing game based on the arcade classic. It puts you behind the wheel of the G-6155 Interceptor, the ultimate counterintelligence prototype vehicle. It's turbocharged and ready to go with 845 horsepower for lightning-fast speed. That's not all--there's an arsenal of futuristic weaponry and morphing abilities that turn the car into a speedboat, jet ski, or motorcycle. Basically, it's everything you need to undertake 14 high-adrenaline missions on wheels.

Should you choose to accept these daring reconnaissance missions, you'll travel to Panama, England, the Middle East, Venice, and other exotic locations around the world. Each location is rendered with a high degree of realism and provides recognizable landmarks and scenery. Throughout, you're the hunter as well as the hunted, pursued by enemies over land, on water, and in the air. Your mission is to take on NOSTRA, an out-of-control multinational corporation headed by an evil madman who's threatening the world.

As SpyHunter, you must always be ready for heavily armed enemy vehicles that lurk around every corner and strike at the first site of the Interceptor. But you have a steady supply of weapons trucks that load you up with machine guns, missiles, lasers, and counterattack weapons such as oil slicks, smoke screens, and cluster mines. Each successful attack gets you one step closer to revealing who SpyHunter is and what he's ultimately after. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars how could you do this to me?!?!
i honestly don't know where to start...
...grr!! ok, this game starts off all nice and smooth, then you get to like the third or fourth level... and suddently you're expected to be an expert. some of the rare (RARE!!!) cut-scenes have pretty good graphics, but the normal graphics are nothing to brag about. in some of the levels, they throw you into the middle of a giant horde of missel-toted cars, give you a vague decription of your primary mission, say things like "activate all targets" for your secondary mission, and expect you to do EXACTLY what they tell you to do... (oh yeah, and you only have 5 minutes.. have fun!) while constantly changing from boat to car to boat to car.....RRGG!
do me...uhm... and you a favor. go buy yourself a racing game, or a shooter game, or hell, buy yourself a real car with dual machine guns!! but dont buy this game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Horrible, horrible frame rate
The game starts out great. The training missions are fast, smooth and fun. I have to assume that all the high reviews are from people who've just started playing it.

The problem is, once you start the actual missions, the frame rate seems to drop noticably, presumably because of all the extra objects the game has to draw. Not only that, but the frame rate becomes uneven, which makes targeting anything while on the move rather annoying. The pixelated graphics don't help, and the faux-3D is rather obvious.

When you compare it to (say) "Burnout 2", it's clear that very little effort was spent to get the game running acceptably on the GameCube. I've seen smoother graphics on PS2 games (I own both systems). Definitely one to steer clear of.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool game
[THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE GAMECUBE EDITION]

In 1983, the classic known as Spy Hunter was released. Though it is considered simplistic by our modern day standards, back in the day it was top notch. Like so many games in recent years, the company who created the game decided to give the game a major update. And now the result has arrived! Read on to see how this new Spy Hunter measures up.

THE GOOD:
This is a fast-paced driving and shooting game, and we know how many people love them! In addition to driving on land, your car will turn into a boat when it lands on water! Likewise, if you take too much damage, it will transform into a more compact vehicle. There are many missions, each one having its own objectives and hidden paths. This game is sure to impress a number of gamers.

THE BAD:
The resolution seems imbalanced. Some parts of the game (usually water) run smooth as can be, while many parts (usually land) are quite choppy. Likewise, the FMV cinema scenes are extremely fuzzy. Why? Also, it is extremely difficult to tell civilians from your foes. Plus, the game may be a bit too fast-paced for the casual gamer. And, of course, the game is a bit on the short side.

OVERALL:
Flaws aside, this is an excellent game. And in recent months, the price has been lowered drastically! If you own the system, there's never been a better time to buy this game!

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST GAME EVER
This game was the worst game for GameCube I have ever played! All of the levels were too easy and everything about it was bad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible and Agonizing Gameplay
There is no question this is the worst racing game I have ever played. Extremely difficult and frustrating to play, its just NOT fun. I returned the five day rental after 2 hours of torment. Great racing games: F-Zero (Super Nes), F-Zero X (N64), Crusin USA (N64), Rumble Racing (PS2) (cheesy graphics but fun gameplay), Tokyo Extreme Racer (Dreamcast) (Fantastic graphics and gameplay). :) ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic
In real baseball, there are no such things as batting cursors. In real baseball, hitting mechanics don't involve placing a stupid cursor to a certain spot according to the type of pitch the hitter estimates will be thrown (the cursor becomes a shade of red if you've guessed it right in this game but not always a guarantee the pitch will be delivered in that particular area). In real baseball, you simply keep your eye on the ball and simply time your swing just right if its at all hittable. Contact can be made here, but not so much with skill, but blind luck. I give it 1 star for decent graphic detail but tah.. that's it.

4-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!
I AM A BASEBALL FANATIC. I LIVE AND BREATH FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL TO COME AROUND. I HAVE PLAYED JUST ABOUT EVERY BASEBALL GAME EVER MADE FOR ANY SYSTEM. FOR CHRISTMAS MY BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD GOT ME A GAMECUBE. I WENT RIGHT OUT AND BOUGHT TWO BASEBALL GAMES MLB SLUGFEST 2003 AND ALLSTAR BASEBALL 2003. SLUGFEST WAS OK BUT ALLSTAR BASEBALL WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING. THE GRAPHICS WERE OK BUT THE GAME PLAY JUST STUNK. I WAS SO MAD THAT I TOOK IT BACK AND TRADED IT FOR THIS GAME CALLED.........
HOMERUN KING. I WAS ABSOLUTLEY STUNNED BY THE GRAPHICS AND BY THE GAME PLAY ITSELF. NEVER BEFORE HAVE I ENCOUNTERED A BASEBALL GAME WITH THIS KIND OF GAME PLAY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I WAS GLAD THAT I FOR ONCE ACTUALLY HAD TO WORK A LITTLE FOR HIT INSTEAD OF BEING ABLE TO BLAST ONE EVERYTIME I CAME UP. IT IS BY FAR THE BEST PITCHER/BATTER INTERACTION I'VE EVER SEEN. I DON'T KNOW IF I'D CALL IT ARCADE EITHER, THE PLAYERS AND STADIUMS LOOK VERY REAL. SOME GAMES HAVE GREAT GRAPHICS AND NO GAME PLAY. ON THE OTHER HAND SOME GAMES HAVE GREAT GAME PLAY AND NO GRAPHICS. IN THIS GAME WE WERE BLESSED WITH BOTH. IF I NEVER SEE ANOTHER BASEBALL GAME I AM GLAD JUST TO HAVE THIS ONE. I WOULD GIVE IT SIX STARS IF I COULD!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great!
This game's great. It needs some getting used to and then you get the hang of it. There are four different games modes: Exhibition, Season, Playoffs, and Home Run Derby. You can also trade players, create players, and edit teams. Hitting is a little difficult but not very hard. Commentary isn't good but I don't buy the game to listen to announcers. And if you want to, there's something called playing aids for pitching, batiing, and fielding. They can be used to make things easier or harder. For Example: If you made the batting aid meter full, your batting cursor will be a lot bigger. Or if you made the fielding aid meter empty, You do all of the work in the field.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a dumb game
Dont buy it. one time I hit a ball and it went up the middlle. the announcer said" down the 3rd base line. it stupid

1-0 out of 5 stars I hate it !!!
This game is the worst. I mean easy level is to easy and the hard level they prob programed it to hit a home run every inning it [stinks] !!! all it dose is cause stress . I recomend games buy EA games. Sega flat out [stinks] !!!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The GameCube, like the PlayStation and Dreamcast before it, gets its game data from unwriteable disc media, so, unlike Nintendo's cartridge-based games of yore, you'll need this accessory to save your place in the game, store your preferences, and preserve the stats of your sports games. The GameCube Memory Card 59 is really small--about the size and weight of a poker chip--and comes with 4 MB flash memory (divided into 59 blocks, hence the name), which should be enough to get you started. If you want to archive all your games for posterity, though, you're going to need more than one. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good memory card, but small in size
HI, i purchased this card for just a test, and it's working fine, however if you will purchase games like Hitman 2, the saved games will completely eat it. It uses a lot of space.

4-0 out of 5 stars GameCube Memory Card Review
This is a great little memory card for the occasional gamer. If you either do not have a lot of games or you only play a little bit then this is the card for you.If you play a lot I would suggest a larger memory card.

3-0 out of 5 stars MEMORY CARD 59
I HAVE A NINTENDO GAMECUBE AND I MUST SAY THAT WITH ALL OF THE GAMES I PLAY ON IT, I NEED MORE MEMORY THAN JUST 59 BLOCKS.FOR THE SERIOUS GAMER, IN MY OPINION, YOU SHOULD PURCHASE THE MEMORY CARD 251.THIS UNIT HAS ROUGHLY 4 TIMES THE MEMORY SPACE AND WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY.FOR TWICE THE PRICE YOU GET FOUR TIMES THE MEMORY SPACE.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get a Memory Card 251 instead
You may have noticed the Gamecube's Memory Card 59 is surprisingly affordable. Why, you ask? Simple.

It doesn't save nearly as much data as most memory cards.

Just recently, Nintendo released the Gamecube Memory Card 251, which costs a little more, but is a considerably better value due to the fact that it saves over four times as much data. Get one of those instead. Don't get a 59 unless you can find it for a VERY low price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, but small
I'm not quite sure why Nintendo even bothered releasing this memory card given it's relativly small memory capacity. But if there is one thing I can attest to it's that Nintendo's first party memory cards are far more reliable than those developed by other companies.

Reliability Rating: 5 Stars
Capacity Size Rating: 2 Stars

But since the Memory Card 59 only slightly cheaper than Nintendo's now availiable Memory Card 251, I would highly encourage you to pick up the 251 instead. You will not be dissapointed. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This game is proof that Jesus died in Vain
I have never seen a product this aweful... a baseball game where the players fight on the bases?Ridiculous.A game where it is virtually impossible to hit the ball, and any hit you get goes stright into the fielders glove?Unbelievable. This is the worst game I have ever played.Thank god I rented this, because if I had purchased it I would have to shoot myself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
When I first tried this game, I really liked it. The graphics were very good. I thought it was a little funny when the commentators talk sometimes before the game. Sometimes the batter might even beat up the pitcher if he gets hit! That was a part I didn't like. The batters will also get fired up if they're 2 for 2 in a game or if they beat up the pitcher. You can even punch the person that's right next to you! I thought that was a little funny. You can even make great diving and leaping catches look impossible. People who like NFL Blitz 2000 or NFL Blitz 2001 should like this game. The three games are similar.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!Thatis hardcore!
When I first play ed MLB Slugfest I was facing my cousin.I hadn't played the game yet so he killed me!But if you get hit with the ball than if you get mad enough you'll cahrge the mound become covered with fire and beat the pitcher up.When you slide to second try to punch him so that he will drop the ball and head to the next base.If you play this game you will have fun if you like to hit people. This is such a good game I still beg my mom to buy it for me!

3-0 out of 5 stars Why not.
If you like insane sports titles, and you don't have 50 bucks, get this game. It's supposed to be the best MLB Slugfest 2003 on any of the consoles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great
this was a great controller I had it for a week and it was great and still it works for all of the games I have

4-0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY!!!
This has to be the worst controller ever!! if you need a controller that bad than buy a real one for $15 more. This controller lasted a whole 3 days and broke! I am writting the makers now!

4-0 out of 5 stars waste of money
I have had 2 of these fail to work right out of the box.I plan on returning it again for a third only because toys r us wont let me exchange it for somthing else.Don't buy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Garbage
It doesn't really work.

Some Gamecube games won't accept this controller as a real controller, 007: Agent Under Fire and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance just to name some won't allow a piece of ... like this. Just Buy a regular spice controller.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unstable
This controller is very unstable. Just like all of the other 3rd party controllers, this one obviously was not designed and tested very good. It tends to break after the first few weeks, just like all of the other 3rd party controllers.Go buy the Offical one. costs more but is more reliable. My first Jet black controller i got with the system back in November has lasted me these 10 months without wearing down. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great - until you play NBA Live 2004
This game was really fun when I first got it. The gameplay was great.
You can use classic uniforms for every team.
Players celebrate or mope around after a key shot.
The franchise mode was alright.
The commentary could be a lot better. They repeat themselves a lot and say things that are stupid.
Fouls are called when they shouldn't be and aren't called when they should be.
1 on 1 is a really fun option. You can build up your skills and can play in an urban court, beach court, or a gym.
NBA LIVE 2003 IS OKAY, BUT COULD BE A LOT BETTER!

The other day I played NBA Live 2004 for the first time. I could not believe the realism. Everything is extremely realistic. You feel like your actually in a basketball game. The commentary can't get any better. The gameplay is outstanding, too. The smooth graphics and player animations. You can use EVERY classic uniform from every team in a game.

4-0 out of 5 stars excelente juego, pero...

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is great , but it could be better
This game is great. I like it a lot and I could name of 20 or 30 good things about it, but one thing is bad.YOU CAN SCORE ON ANY BODY AT ANY TIME!!!Basicly,it just lets you fly right past your defender. I know a lot about basketball, and you just can NOT fly rigt past your defender unless your Michal Jordan or Kobe Bryant. But everything else is nearly perfect, so for that one bad thing, I'll give it 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Basketball Game
I just got this game 2 weeks ago but I am VERY impressed! The new freestyle system is really cool where you can move the C-Stick(If you have Gamecube)and do different moves and tricks! Also by using the D-Stick you can call off you're own plays like isolation and the pick and roll.Another good feature is a 2-player franchise mode play through ten exciting seasons with one of your friends! This game is mine AND my friends favorite game!We play this game all the time. This a great game with almost Unlimited replay value. If you don't have this game but it NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than the 2K Series
The NBA Live Series is so much better than the 2k series. Graphics are better, gameplay is better, controls are better,A.I is better, and is funner than 2K.

Graphics: 10/10
These graphics look so realistic. Theyre clean and legible.

Controls: 10/10
The controls are easy. Pass, shoot, crossover, the works.

Music: 7/10
NBA Live music is okay. they need betterhip hop, although there are some hip hop songs by Fabolous, Jermaine Dupri, and Flipmode Squad feat. Busta Rhymes.

Fun: 10/10
NBA Live will not leave you bored. Theres so much to do: season, franchise, playoffs, 1 on 1, practice, exhibition game, All-Star game, and you can get old school onto your teams. You can alsoget a cheat to get Fabolous and Busta Rhymes as a player.

Overall: 10/10
Too much fun. This cold be the best sports game ever made, it is in my opinion. Go buy for yourself and youll see how much better it is than the NBA 2K series. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars FOOTBALL
Football must be the best sport ever. NFL Blitz brings Football out of its shell and makes it fun, funny, and perfect. Nfl blitz you can have late hits which you can body slam and butt slam too. It is awesome and is a must have for a football fan on GC.

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of my time
I'm going to be very terse with my review of this game. IT SUCKS!! Midway needs to find a new field, and I'm not playing find a new field. Maybe this could make me and others happy who dislike this item and used their good money for something that is more of use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Blitz there will ever be.
This Blitz was a huge turning point in the series. It offered next Gen Graphics and gameplay.Blitz 20-03 is the same game but terribly plauged. There is an interception for every pass made.I AM NOT KIDDING.So if you're gonna buy a Blitz game, make it 20-02.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Madden!
This is a great football game.Instead of having to play boring 11-on-10 football, this arcade style game brings a new twist: 8-on-8 football. Also, there are no penalties, making it fun to play. You can even jump on people after the play.Graphics and control are especially good.5 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE
This game is a must have it is so funny you can put in infinate turbo and faster running. when u return the ball you can zig zag all across the field and make a huge mob of defensive guys chasing you. It is awesome when you do a 2 man blitz with a friend with infinate turbo and faster running you can make soo many sacks it makes you want to cry with laughter. 5-0 out of 5 stars It really is LITTLE but POWERFUL
This was one of the best things i have ever bought for my gamecube, These speakers could be sold for more there that good. The price is sweet but not the only reason for buying this system. It only takes a few minutes to hook them up. After you are done, you are ready to go. They are very easy to hock up and give out a pumping sound for there size they are definatly loud enough. The control deck for the speakers rest easliy under your gamecube. That is where you can get(2)headphone jacks, and the volume control knob. Also you get 4 audio video selectors to avoid connecting, and reconnectiong cables. The lights on it are really cool too, if you want good speakers with a loud sound to inprove you gaming experence i suggest you buy these speakers you will be glad you did.

4-0 out of 5 stars LITTLE butPOWERFUL
These speakers are better than they are worth. You pay a fee of 50$, and that is pretty reasonable.Whereas for other systems, you pay about 100$ or more for sound systems. The price isn't the only thing that is good, but the actual speakers are.It only takes a few minutes to hook them up.After you are done, you are ready to go.They give a good sound quality for how small they are.If you like, you don't have to put your tv speakers on.That is because the intec speakers are loud enough. However, when both tv and intec speakers are on get ready for a good gaming experience. The control deck for the speakers rest easliy under your gamecube. That is where you can get(2)headphone jacks, and the volume control knob. Also you get 4 audio video selectors to avoid connecting, and reconnectiong cables. The only thing i can not figure out, is that there is no LED lights that flash to the sound of the game.I have no idea where they got that from.Otherwise these are a good purchase to boost up your gaming experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Underrated! This game will test the best of the best!
Here's the deal, many of the reviewers say this is like playing SSX tricky on wheels! Well, with all due respect, its not! Freelstyle is far more challenging that SSX tricky as far as races go and believe me, I love SSX tricky! Plus, unlocking new tracks, bikes and riders will really test your skills. As far as the tracks themselves go, the earlier ones are short, but very tough and when u fall off your bike, there is none of that SSX tricky re-start method; here, you have to go back a few feet!! So, for the 20 dollars you will pay for this game, you will feel that you added a great new game to your collection that will challenge the most experienced gamer and greatly improve the mediocre among you! Go get it, its worth every dollar (not more than 20 though!! lol!)

5-0 out of 5 stars A new twist on FMX
I agree, in part, with someone else that wrote a review for this, saying that it was exactly like SSX Tricky. I agree that it is similar to Tricky, which is also, by the way, a really great game, but its not exactly the same. And i dont just mean the fact that it's FMX rather than snowboarding. For one, i think that its much more difficult. For another, while all the characters in Tricky are 1. all fictional, and 2. all already unlokced, you have to unlock 4 of the 8 characters in Freekstyle, and they're all real people. Their catch phrases aren't as great as say Simon's from Tricky, but that doesnt matter too much. And stats aren't increased by levels, you have to earn them by winning races. Overall, it's a really good, really fun game. If you liked tricky, and you like FMX, get this.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Kick-ur-@$$ Game
This game was ok but it hade a couple draw backs. For one the graphics can get muddy at times. herres my rating.

Graphics 4 outta 5 (For certain reasons otherwise they are great)
Music4 outta 5 (its ok but can get annoying)
Replay 5 outta 5 (play it over and over and over and over and over for all I care)

Total: 8.9 outta 10 or 4.4 outta 5

3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's just me...
Well... i dunno about the rest of the living, but i didn't really enjoy this one. Maybe it's because it is almost EXACTLY like SSX tricky on 2 wheels. I rented Superfly and this. I loved Superfly, but i felt i like was play a rehash of Tricky with this thing. Try both and see what you like BEFORE you bust out with the Visa.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOOOO KEWL!
THis game is absolutely GREAT!! Little kids probably would have a hard time working the controls, but older kids will think it is awesome!! The graphics are great, and it is challenging enough to keep you really interested for a long time!! One warning though-- the cheats I got from a cheat code website DO NOT WORK!! It is fun trying to get through it without cheats though!! Buy this game and have FUN!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

NBA Street is the best arcade basketball title available. Period. Why? No refs, no clocks, and no fouls. Players will knock you over, and theypractically live for blatant goaltending throughout the game. Realistic? No, butit's always fun--even if you hate basketball.

Street has two game modes--City Circuit and Hold the Court--yet thedifferences are minimal. Both feature three-on-three games of 21, in which youmust assemble a squad composed of (initially) NBA players. Soon you'll playagainst street legends (read: bosses) that, once defeated, can be added to yourteam. Your ultimate goal is to defeat the biggest legend ever--Michael Jordan.

To survive the streets, you must learn which buttons to mash as you masterspecific stunts. This will add special points to your score and give you accessto news ways to score. Though similar to the NBA Jam games, Streetis deeper and sports a surprisingly developed finesse game.

Street does commit some fouls, however, with its over-the-top, repetitivecommentary and lack of play modes. But even if you hate arcade-style basketball, you'll find Street is different from the pack and a solid MVP contender.--Mark Brooks

5-0 out of 5 stars NBA Street
NBA Street is awesome. It has loads of trick moves, including dunks. The gamebreakers and busted rims are cool in every aspect. The player models and create-a-player are very realistic. It even has "Street School", which teaches you the gameplay. There are downsides, though. There are only two modes of gameplay which are kind of similar. The commentary is a tad bit annoying. Still, this is a must have for gamers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Awsome
This game is alright. You can get alot of great nba players just by winning but who said they were good at street ball? There are alot of courts to choose from but i'd recodmend the street hoops game more because there are actually real street ball players on that game like you see on tv

5-0 out of 5 stars it is awesome
Nba Street is one of the coolest games that i have ever played. It has some pretty cool characters like Yetti, Alein, and magma man. It also has Jordan, Iverson and many other real NBA players. The different places you can play and awesome different moves that you can do just hit the spot. My personal favorite is DINNER'S SERVED! But that's just me. You might like PUTIN' IT HOME orthe ALLEY-OOP. All in all, this is a fun all around good game.

This game is the best basket ball game ever. The cites of the game is cool. The dunking is so realistic. It is easy to beat MJ. The names of the characters is cool. You can also play as the girls in 3LW. There is a dream team member you get to chose after you beat the game things like Magma Man Alien Boy and many more. But they realy messed up on Takashie. He is the worst player. Shak can block balls better than him. There is a grip of cheat codes. The beast thing about it is that when you get real far in the game, they give you the codes. My space is running short. There is one more thing, BUY THIS GAME AND STREETS VOLUMN 2!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
NBA Street is awesome! I just got this game a couple days ago.
It is the coolest basketball game ever. The graphics are sweet.
And the characters are even cooler. Stretch Monroe is cool even for an Old School player. My favorite street legend is Bonafide.
BIGGS can dunk and block or should I say stuff. He is probably the strongest street legend.
BONAFIDE has mad skillz. He can handle the ball better than A.I.
He can also drain three pointers. Which comes in handy when you are playing Stretch Monroe.
DRAKE can't dunk. He goes up for the dunk but has to finger roll it instead. He is pretty embarassing for a street legend. He basically is a shooter pure shooter.
DJ's got hops. He can soar above the rim then do a 360 dunk.
He can shake even MJ.
TAKASHI is tall I mean tall he looks down at Yao Ming. Come on I mean 7'8" that's pretty unbelievable but hey it's only a video game his best skill blocking.
STRETCH is cool. In an Old School way. He isn't much of a dunker but he can drain those hook shots and he is pretty good behind the arc. They make it seem like he is impossible to beat but he is easy. I beat him with Bonafide, Takashi, and Kobe.
Graphic wise this game gets 10/10 it's so clear and perfectly Gamecube.
Sound is okay but the music is pretty annoying. I give it a 7/10
Overall this game gets 10/10. Buy it you'll be glad you did. ... Read more
