4-0 out of 5 stars The Grooviest Game EVER!
My cousin came to live with us, and she brought this game with her. I came home one day and she was playing it, so i said i would play with her. It was really easy to learn, and i loved it! I think the most awesome character is Shorty, and her level is my fav! I love this game so much, it is fun and easier than those dumb footpad ones, cuz you use the controller! I LOVE THIS GAME!

4-0 out of 5 stars omg! Amazing!!
This game is so much fun! I have been playing it for years, and I still love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!
The game is set up like a 2-d fighting game. But instead of throwing punches, you dance. Sounds silly, I know. You can attack (only twice per stage), and the dance commands get harder as you play. The music is great though. There's J-Pop, Hip Hop, Techno, Disco, all sorts of genres. But all of it is great, I don't really like techno or pop, but I was singing along within minutes of listening.
The characters are also pretty interesting. Each has their own style of dance, and all are fun to watch. There's 10 characters (i think) and 4 more to unlock. They all have their own personality, attack, styles, etc, so it makes for a replayable and interesting game.
This is easily my favorite Playstation game I have ever played. I bought it 5 years ago and still play it to this very day. The game may be hard to pick up at first, but one you get the hang of it its a blast! ...

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
I BOUGHT THIS GAME FOR MY SON WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 13 YEARS OLD HE IS KNOW 18! AND GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT IT FOR MYSELF A WEEK AGO..I LOVED IT THEN WHEN I PLAYED WITH MY SON, LOVE IT KNOW THAT I HAVE MY OWN...I JUST ORDERED BAG2 FOR MYSELF AND CAN'T WHAT FOR IT TO COME.. MY FAVORITE IS GASO, KELLY, SHORTY, HEAT, STRIKE,TWO ALIENS.. I RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO ALL AGES AND ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BUST A GROOOOOOVE

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GAME EVER!
I was first introduced to Bust A Groove at a friend's house. I was immediately hooked. It's great fun w/ the best music you can ask for. I know all the songs and have them all on my computer! This is my all time favorite game and everyone should try it out. It's a little hard at first (especially if you don't play video games all that much) but you catch on pretty quick and it's a very addictive game. But that's ok cause it's awesome. The characters are cool too. I recommend it to anyone! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terible
The campains are chessy and nothing new is added. This title detracts from the rest of the series and i hope that gathering of storms has what this does not, somthing new!

3-0 out of 5 stars Milking a dead cow?
By itself, the expansion offers fewer features than the previous expansion, but the length of gameplay still makes the purchase worth it.That is, if you are a hardcore fan...

Features:
* 6 new campaigns in a similar format than in the previous expansion - 5 campaigns must be finished in order for the 6th to unlock.
* 3 new creatures. This fixes some balancing issues introduced by the previous expansion, where only three out of the six factions got a new creature.
* All six creatures now have dwellings where you can purchase them.
* Improved editor allows for a more streamlined map creation.
* New maps, both 3Do- and fan-made.Fan-made maps are the result of a contest; one of the rules was that those maps should't be available on the Internet, so they do present original content.
* New music track in the main menu.(Ever since installation, though, I haven't heard the new track introduces by the previous expansion.)

What I liked:
* The campaigns are much tougher with more focus on strategy, as opposed to role-playing in the previous expansion. This will please everybody who considered The Gathering Storm too easy.
* The final campaign has a very original twist - you will need to pick a single hero out of the five you created, and fight against the other four. Those heroes tend to be the most powerful you may find in the whole game.

What I disliked.
* Price. That is my main complaint. At [$], it offers enough gameplay to look [inexpensive].However, you will need both expansions for a balanced experience (each expansion inproves only half of the factions), and you'll need the original game to play it.At a total of [$], no game is worth it. Wait for the inevitable Heroes 4 Gold instead.
* Graphics. While they didn't change, some map designs are more confusing than before. The fan-created maps are the biggest culprits, but even some campaign maps suffer from this problem.
* Missing features. There are no new spells or at least artifacts. In contrast, the previous expansion featured some very nifty artifacts. In addition, the much-promised random map generator (promised ever since the original game came out) is still missing.

Overall, I can recommend this game only to people who purchased the previous expansion.Others should wait for a compilation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile expansion, fan-made maps outstanding.
I hadn't played Heroes IV in some time, so I picked up this expansion in an effort to rekindle a little interest. It worked well. The changes are subtle, what stands out most are the new campaigns. But this expansion, like the first, adds additional depth and dimension to an already enjoyable title.

Only downside really is the price, but I suppose that stands true across the entire industry these days. For those who can hold out a little longer, you can reasonably expect 3DO to release a 'Complete' version before Summer.Which would likely include both expansion packs and the base game for less than the two upgrades combined.Do a search here on Amazon for 'Heroes III Complete' for an example from the previous version of the title.

All in all, I personally found this to be a worthwhile purchase.I am enjoying the new campaigns and the new additions, the new creatures (like Dark Paladins) are terrific and powerful, and the fan-made single scenario maps are for the most part absolutely fantastic.I hope to see 3DO include these in the future.

I'm giving this 4 stars, with the only ding being on price.

What you get:
- New single-scenario maps created by New World Computing as well as contest-winning single-scenario maps created by fans
- Six new Heroes® campaigns
- Three original fantastic creatures
- New adventure objects, including six creature generators
- Additional Campaign Editor features, including a customizable object painter
- New storylines for the campaigns
- All new music track ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars They will gladly take your money...again.
Since the makers of the original SimCity 4 never actually fully patched that version, they tell you to buy Rush Hour to solve the issues existing with that main version. Throwing in a few additions that could have been made available for download, you must buy this expansion in order for the game to even work with ANY future elements they may provide. Newer building tools or the rare new structure will simply not work with the stand alone version.
But the "situation" even goes much deeper than that-
Problems were not only not fixed, but were actually HIDDEN by the game designers. Observant players of the original SC4 would notice cars driving in circles or driving a highway, leaving and re-entering it at each exit! With Rush Hour, they merely lowered the amount of time automobiles would be displayed so players would think there are no problems. Very sneaky Maxis! Many gamers are none the wiser. It is truly amazing the game developers could get away with such practices... and laugh all the way to the bank.

5-0 out of 5 stars god like powers
This is the best game since GTA. The best thing to do is name streets and roads and neighborhoods and districts. I wish you could make a ethnic neighborhood then it would be really fun. You can make suburbs like the big city can be very blue collar and crime ridden and bad schools and one suburb can be white collar with mansions and excellent schools depending on what neighborhood you pay most attention to, just one of the best games ever made.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy... if your conscious is flexible..
This expansion is a must purchase. It's more than the features they describe, they've refined and improved just about everything is seems from the regular Sim City 4.

My issue however is that there are so many aspects that you get in the expansion that were missing without it (such as say, the ability to click a button to make a certain building historical, which you could do in previous Sim Cities), it really kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth buying this. The ORIGINAL Sim City 4 should have had many of the polished aspects of the expansion. This isn't just a ton of cool new features, this expansion makes the game complete.

Kinda clever.. sell an incomplete game, then make you buy the expansion to get the full product. So it's a must purchase, but I blow my nose at you so called "computer coders", you and all you're silly kinnigits... pbhhhhhtthhh....

Sincerely,

A Frustrated Gamer Who Knows He's Not Going To Be Sleeping Tonight Because of the Darn Game

(or just Graham will do)

5-0 out of 5 stars A tremendous improvement
I have been waiting for Maxis to improve the transportation features, and finally they've done it!!!I can now control traffic more efficiently in my city by knowing what paths citizens take to and from work. This allows me to determine where I should place new roads, mass transit lines, stations, etc.The monorails allow you to have a much more futuristic city, only you can't build monorail lines over elevated freeways. The surface freeways and elevated trains also make city transportation systems much more realistic. If you have SC4 and don't have Rush Hour, I highly recommend that you buy it now.It is worth every cent.

5-0 out of 5 stars All the bells, whistles, and sirens a city should have!
After purchasing SimCity 4 and hearing of the Rush Hour expansion, I didn't know what to expect--after all, I just payed $40 for the stand alone version.Yet, to my surprise, RH added a tremendous ammount of gameplay and realism that wasn't available with SimCity 4.While the U-Drive it features are alright, I am extremely impressed with the tremendous addition of ground level highways, (I wanted these for a while now) Chicago-style "el" lines, monorails, and a new slew of roadway tools.Mayors should also take note of the new building sets, greatly improved gameplay performace, and more realistic play.Rush Hour is more than a simple add-on, it's a sequel to a great game. ... Editorial Review

Twisted Metal 2 is a game fueled by pure testosterone. Thebasic idea is to use your car and its onboard weapons to destroy all of the othercars in the race, cruising around such backdrops as Los Angeles, Paris, andAntarctica. Think of Spy Hunter meets demolition derby. You can raceor choose to fight in tournament mode, where you don't advance until everyoneelse is destroyed. There are many cars and drivers to choose from, includingsome favorites like Mr. Grimm, Warthog, and malevolent ice cream clownSweet Tooth from Twisted Metal 1. All have an outrageous arsenal ofweapons. This is a must-play for anyone who has experienced road rage andwants to get even--virtually. --Allen Stewart

5-0 out of 5 stars The best PS1 ever
This game is the first game I have ever played. It got me into video games into the first place. I don't care what people say but the graphics in this game rule! Next to Black, they are the best! TM3 and 4 had nice graphics but they were all dirty. The only flaw in TM2's graphics are simplicity and pop-up but give the game a break, it is 9 years old and it still doesn't look that bad! Plus, the game is really interactive with tons of landmarks. Also, there is a huge complex storyline only uncovered by beating TM1, 2 and Black.
Pros:
So fun!
Two player never gets old!
14 cars and 11 levels
inexpensive
complex story
huge levels
destruction!
Cons:
Outdated but still stands up to most PS1 games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best PS one ever!
This game really lived up to the sequal, with more modes, weapons, combos and so much more. It has very interesting battle grounds spreading all over the world, from L.A. to antarticia. A new boss is also here.

graphics-very nice looking. the cars have detail and aremore interesting. there are F1 cars and junk cars. it moves fast, and the levels are detailed and large. You can drive in subways, windmills, the Eilfel tower which can be blown up, a museum, office buildings, and even a swimming pool.

sound-the music is very cool,. it fits the place. people scream, and there are realistic sound effects like machine gun firing and missles. There is no sounds when choosing your carlike the first one though.

gameplay-fun, crazy, and phsyco. More weapons, and more. it has other stuff like a deathmatch, and more interesting specials, like a shockwave and a claw that slams your opponents. It's like the first one, but with more options.

replay-great game that will keep you playing. The multiplayer mode will keep you and your friends busy at parties and sleepovers

Overall, this game is worth getting the Playstation alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool stuff for all
Twisted Metal 2 is one of the best Twisted Metal games, I still like Black better. I liked the movie where Axel goes back to his father and rips his arms out of his machine. I hate the T rating. Buy this game NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!
this is by far the best game ever made. although the graphics are a little slopy, the colours are bright and rich, the physics are perfect, and the wepons are creative.

also, no matter what you taste in cars is, there is a car that you will like. the variety is huge!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Great Game I Can Win Easy!?!?!?

Amazon.com Review

Featuring a new adventure that's filled with numerous enhancements andinnovations, this long-awaited sequel to Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow greatly improves upon the series' winning formula, and makesfor an even more insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience.

Like Pokémon Silver--which essentially is the same story, withminor gameplay variations--Pokémon Gold casts players in thefamiliar role of a young Pokémon Trainer who's out to collect as manydifferent kinds of Pokémon as possible. As in previous games, gameplayconsists mostly of exploration (completing various quests in the process) andPokémon battles, which employ a unique battle system that's like acomplex twist on rock-paper-scissors.

But, despite the similarities, it's quite apparent that PokémonGold is a whole new ball game from the start. The game is played out in realtime, with the current time and day of the week (recorded by an internal clock)having a direct impact on gameplay elements, such as what Pokémon you'llfind in the wild, and when certain events occur and characters appear.

While there are too many new and improved features in Pokémon Goldto list here, among the highlights are 100 new Pokémon (including two newtypes), new evolution processes (including breeding), and a more streamlinedgame interface that has better-organized menus and button shortcuts.

Although it's easier to progress in Pokémon Gold than in theprevious games, the sheer amount of fun and game time that's involved isdaunting. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better value than this one. --JoeHon

Pros:

  • Insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience
  • Time and day of week impact gameplay directly
  • Bevy of new features and hidden secrets
  • Improved graphics and more streamlined game interface
Cons:
  • Minor compatibility issues when using Game Link with previous versions

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Pokemon game ever.
I have played every Pokemon game from Red and Blue to Emerald. (Japan Version) This one simply kicks butt. I say start with Totodile.

3-0 out of 5 stars They should have kept the original 151 Pokémon!
Overall this game is fun and a nice sequel to the original Pokémon adventures, the graphics have improved a lot and the sound has better quality. This game, just like Pokémon Silver has a lot more than Red, Blue and Yellow and is also more challenging, one of the greatest things this game can do is actually get you emotional, how? Well, if you were a fan of the original adventures, then returning to Kanto as a whole new person where everything has changed might get you pretty emotional.

The bad thing, is however the addition of new Pokémon species, I trully believe the original 151 were enough, now there's simply too many. The designs of many of these new creatures look "robotish" and "allienish", they don't have the charm of the original. Also, I began to lose track when these came out, I can't remember the names of all and it is next to impossible to complete your collection here, even with both packs, I believe you are required to get Mew to have full collection and Mew is nowhere to be seen, I hope the developers weren't specting each one of us to get Mew from a special event or by using a Game Shark. Anyways, overall this game was fun, lasted a pretty long time, enough to give you something to do for a while, but my point is there are way too many Pokémon.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best game in the series
Pokemon 2 (Gold and Silver versions.) The second installment in the Game Boy Pokemon RPG series.

Nintendo's Pokemon franchise became a massive success in its native Japan relatively quickly. Although it took the franchise a little longer to catch on in America, it finally did catch on, and when it did, it took the nation by storm. Pokemon games and products sold like crazy, despite the fact that the franchise was virtually unrecognized in America at its time of release. Finally in the late summer/early fall of 2000, the second games in the series got an American release. How does Pokemon 2 measure up? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-THIS GAME GIVES YOU MORE OF THE SAME MONSTER CATCHING AND BATTLING ACTION THAT YOU HAVE GROWN TO LOVE IN THE FIRST GAME. To put it simply, if you liked the first game, it's quite unlikely that you won't like this one.
-THE GAME GRAPHICS ARE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED OVER THOSE OF THE PREDECESSOR TITLES. In this game, the graphics are not only improved, but the game is also optimized to make usage of Game Boy Color and Super Game Boy enhancements.
-IT'S NOT JUST A REHASH OF THE FIRST GAMES. Although the game uses the same general formulas, the game is entirely new, and the world is much larger this time around. Beat the game, and you can even go to the continent where the original game took place!
-NINTENDO DESIGNED THIS GAME WITH PLAYER CONVENIENCE IN MIND. Remember how in the first game you had to go through all those menus just to use an item (like your bike or fishing pole?) Well, in this game, you can set the select button to use an item! This really comes in handy and speeds up the general flow of the game.
-TONS OF NEW CREATURES AND ABILITIES. The original games had roughly a hundred and fifty-one creatures, and these games give you roughly a hundred new ones! This is too cool.
-THE GAME HAS AN INTERNAL CLOCK THAT KEEPS TRACK OF THE TIME OF DAY AND THE DAY OF THE WEEK. Different events happen at different times of the day and on different days. This makes the game all the more appealing.
-YOU CAN TRADE WITH ALL OTHER POKEMON RPG GAMES THAT PREDATED THE GAME BOY ADVANCE ONES. This will make it easy to get your hands on certain creatures from the old games. In fact, some the old creatures DO NOT appear in these games, so you're gonna have to do some trading to complete your Pokedex.
-THE GAME INTRODUCES THE CONCEPT OF BREEDING POKEMON. If you get a male and a female Pokemon together at the Daycare center, they just might lay an egg! This concept is necessary to get many of the new "baby" Pokemon in the game.
-THE GAME INTRODUCES TWO NEW POKEMON TYPES - DARK AND STEEL. Adding in the new types means you're going to have to rethink your gaming strategies - or create new ones entirely! The new types only add to the overall fun of the game.

CONS:
-MINOR COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WHEN TRADING WITH OLDER GAMES. For example, you can't send the new Pokemon species into your older game, nor can you send old species that have new moves. This is bound to get on your nerves, believe me.
-THE MYSTERY GIFT CONCEPT IS FLAWED. If you and a friend own a Game Boy Color, you can use Mystery Gift with your infrared ports to each get a random item, once a day. The only problem is that this requires a Game Boy COLOR - The Game Boy Advance doesn't have an infrared port!

OVERALL:
Pokemon 2 is, to date (as of July 4, 2004), the best game in the Pokemon series. In my mind, these games are even better than the new Game Boy Advance games, Ruby and Sapphire. If you can find one of these Pokemon 2 games in your local used games store, they are well worth picking up. Pokemon games aren't likely to get a whole lot better than these ones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Game
I love this game! Here's a tip: START WITH CYNDAQUIL! Cyndaquil is strong against most of the Gym Leaders and it's final form Typhlosion is a kick-butt Pokemon against the Elite 4.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST PKMN GAME EVER!!
ok, ive played tons of pkmn games and i own very many and i believe this is the best. its a whole lot easier to beat than yellow, but its still really good and a good challenge. this was my very first role-play game and i still love it best even when i have the newest PKMN ruby game for GBA.
the graphics arent as good as GBA, BUT its best for GB
the music is cool
the whole plot and all the places and everything is awesome
i've beaten the game a million times and i'm still playing it over and over and i've had it for 5yrs now. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC!!
I was about 20 when I first played this game and thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen but the music was too catchy to resist. If you don't fall in love with this game then you don't have a pulse.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME
I would definitely say that parappa the rapper is the greatest game of all time|!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unwhitting fun
This game was one that I thought would be another kids game. It's not, it's actually tons of fun. The game play thou basic can get very tricky. Hand eye cordination is tested to the max with this on. And the songs aren't bad either.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's with the low average rating?
(I read over the reviews and there were only like 2 bad reviews...yet the average rating is very low. It must be a problem with the site.)

Man oh man is Parappa a cool game. I remember seeing commercials of this and being hooked on the spot. This could very well be the first music-type game released, and what a first game of its genre it is. There's nothing to hate here. The character designs are plain but original. Especially Joe Chin.

Parappa's gameplay is simple enough- you hit the buttons corresponding to the top of the screen: the buttons appear and you have to get the timing as to when to hit them to match lyrics. That's all there is to it really. But it gets much harder as you play along. Heck, the second level gives some people trouble even. The only real strategy for getting through the game is to tap your foot along with the music. That should make it easier on you.

Some people here have complained about "dumb graphics and story"...like either one of those matters. What matters is if a game is fun, and Parappa is definately fun. I don't know anyone that got sick of this even after playing through 5 times in one day. Actually, if you play the game via PS2 and set the graphics to "smooth", it looks a lot better, and there aren't any "jaggies" on the character designs.

Parappa also has one of the coolest soundtracks I've heard in a game. The songs'll get stuck in your head for days after playing through. Even the music between levels during the plot bits is catchy.

So give Parappa a chance to get a break from your silly rpgs where you just "care about the story". And pick up the game when you see it- as I think it's out of print. Just look at those insane used & new prices.

The world is once again on the brink of apocalypse. Yuri, the brilliant and powerful psychic warrior, has rebelled against his former Soviet masters and launched his own scheme to control the world. He's armed with cruel technologies, exotic weapons, and mind-controlling devices that have enslaved entire cities.

In single play, gamers can choose to command the Allies and crush this new threat to freedom, or choose to lead the Soviets and punish this would-be usurper of the Soviet global vision. In multiplayer mode, you'll command Yuri's devastating army using devious weapons based on forbidden technologies: psychic thought, genetics, and cloning. See your brutes flip over tanks with their bare hands, unleash your dominator and control scores of enemy troops, or use a virus to infect opposing forces foolish enough to resist you. With 10 new cooperative missions, gamers have more interesting options than just fighting head-to-head. An improved multiplayer and tournament interface will make it easier than ever to find opponents and allies.

Both the Allied and Soviet armies get new, powerful weapons. The Allies boast aRobot Control Center and Chrono Prison. Amongst the new Soviet weaponry is the Siege Chopper and Boris, a machine-gun-toting commando that can call down laser-guided bombing strikes. The high-quality in-game movies tell the story of Yuri and his insidious plot. The popular characters of Red Alert 2, such as Tanya and Romanov, are back to wage war in cities around the world, including London, Cairo, and San Francisco. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great
this game has kept me busy on my free time for 4 years and trust me this is a great game. here's how the storyline goes- Premier Romanov remembers a war from his childhood, Allied tanks rolling across the streets and soldiers marching through the city. because of this he has forever hated America, leader of the Allies. now he's an aristocrat and has become the king or something of russia under the image of a peaceful man. but he's really building bases across the world in a crazy plan to crush the Americans. he and his comrade Yuri, a person with the ability to control people's minds waged war against america with tactics such as using yuri's students to mind control cows loaded with explosives to american forts and using the navy to transport tanks as they overrun New York. in the end the allies won but yuri has escaped. during the War between the Allies and Soviets and created his own army and now's trying to dominate the earth with his new weapon the psychic dominator- attempting mind controlling everyone in the world. the allies' goal is to destroy yuri to save the world and the soviets' goal is to get revenge on yuri for betraying them. the campaign is extremely difficult compared to the original one's. there's a whole new army avaliable on skirmish and new units and fixes to glitches have been created.

2-0 out of 5 stars 50% Good
All I have to say is when you order the "pack" make sure they send ALL the serial codes to load the game!Spent the money got the games but received only one serial code for the pack (Red Alert 2).Yuri's revenge required a separate code which was not included, so now I can enjoy half the game and use the Yuri's Revenge disk as a coaster or maybe a colorful mini-frisbee!

4-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable
This game was not exactly what I was expecting, but for only $20, I was NOT disappointed. When it was released, I really thought about buying it, I'm glad I waited for the $40 - $50 price tag to come down... normally, I like to be the first one on the block to play one of the ones I have played in the past.

Generals is a variation on the original Command & Conquer series and is not another updated version with a new name and additional units and plays, for the most part, without any sort of a similar "storyline".The RTS aspect is solid, the ai is pretty good, and the player interface is adequate (but took a little getting used to) - it's available at a fair price and worth purchasing. If I had bought this game at the original price I doubt I would have had any further interest in buying any of the the future versions of C&C, but for another $20 I will probably pick up the Zero Hour expansion pack.... something that should probably have been a free update to those that paid the initial price.

The only complaint I would make is the "view" ... it's the type of view that drops to more of a "ground level" perspective like in Empire Earth or Total War:Rome rather than a true zoom/unzoom available in a Age of Empires/ Rise of Nations or even SimCity...Generals was quite enjoyable even though that feature is not my preference.

Other than that, I thought it was fun and challenging and well worth the $20 price tag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!!
This game rocks!! I love Red Alert and Red Alert II, but this game is 20 times better! It's real time strategy about wars that are similar to the wars we are facing across seas. I highly recomend this game, and if u have spare money, get the expansion pack zero:hour, which expands your battle options. But overall, this game is the best game C&C has come up with!!

1-0 out of 5 stars A big dissapointment
Buying this game when it came out was a mistake i think to this day.C and C previous titles were ones to marvel at, this one is one to chuck in a garbage can.The missions are somewhat amusing and the terran is ok, but the subject of the game that really mad me, dare i say, cry, was the game's shortness and terrible unit graphics. In Generals, you play in 3 campaigns, terroist, chinesse, and AMERICAN, however, with only ten missions, +or-, you can get through the game, quite quickly. Also, being in 3D, i expected some quality of the game sprites, or on ground units, however, they dissapointed me greatly. With its extreme shortness, lack of modes, and basically, i came to conclude that this game, fell far short of reaching the shrine of C and C games ... Originally released for the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo 64, StarWars: Episode I, Racer was a decent title with its share of flaws--mostnotably its control and graphics. The game's PlayStation2 sequel, Star Wars:Racer Revenge, addresses many of the original's shortcomings and is a vastlysuperior product. Rainbow Studios--known for its strong racers such as ATVOffroad Fury and Motocross Madness--developed this game, unlike theoriginal. The developer's prowess at creating racing games is evident, as thistitle features much better controls and more compelling races. Furthermore, itreceives a nice graphics upgrade that showcases the capabilities of the PS2.This game is superior in every respect to its predecessor.

Game modes include practice, single play, tournament, time trials, and versus.Tournament mode is the bulk of the game. Players can beat it in fewer than threehours and it isn't particularly difficult. Replay value is added by requiringyou to beat the tournament mode several times so you can unlock all the game'ssecrets. Oddly enough, the game's sound--usually LucasArts's forte--is hamperedby an unusual effect: at times you'll hear the full Star Wars treatment,as John Williams's score and cool sound effects totally capture the feel of themovies, but other times you'll hear only the sound of your engine. Theenvironmental audio is an interesting choice that wasn't executed very well.Audio and brevity issues aside, this game is one of the strongest StarWars titles released for a console. --Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Much better gameplay than the original
  • Excellent graphics
  • Tight controls
Cons:
  • Extremely short
  • Not very challenging
  • Music fade-ins and -outs are weird

3-0 out of 5 stars HARD!!!(...)
WHY IS EVERYONE SAYING THIS GAME IS EASY???!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
THIS IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING HARDEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED! (...)IT MIGHT BE ALITTLE FUN AND EASY IN THE BEGINNING BUT THEN IT GETS IMPOSSIBLE!!!(...)DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! IT IS SO(...)FRUSTRATING!!(...) AAAAAAAHHH(...)

5-0 out of 5 stars star wars racer revenge
I would like to know when this game will come out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Sci-Fi Racing Game Ever!!!
I've had this racing game since it was released and I still think it is the best racing game I have ever played.Lucasarts should make a sequal for the next set of consoles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to win straight, but....
This is an incredible game. I just bought it the other day and I love it. But I'm still not finished. Sure, I've beaten a few tourniments, but there is more.

See, the reason I'm writing this is because I've been reading a lot of reviews saying that it's just too easy. What they fail to mention is that even though Tournament mode is very very short, you have to play it with all your racers in order to make everything equal. In addition, there are secret characters that are unbelieveably hard to get. These are:

Episode 1 Sebulba: Win first place in all races on regular Sebulba's career.

Episode 1 Anakin: Beat the best lap time for each race (it seems easy at first, but those last two races make it almost impossible).

Watto: Beat the best 3-lap race time for each track (see above parentathis).

Darth Maul: Beat the best KO number in each race (oddly enough, it's the first race of the game that gives me the most trouble)

Darth Vader: Unlock EP1 Anakin, Watto, and Maul, then (and only then) win the tourniment with one of those three.

How difficult are these characters to get? Well, let me put it this way: I've been playing almost nonstop for a week and the only onje of the above characters I have is EP1 Sebulba (though I'm close to getting Maul).

So if you want praise for this incredible game, read some of the other reviews. However, read this one after to dispell the "too easy" myth. Sure, winning the tourniment mode with one character is wicked easy (I did it in a matter of hours). But try winning it with 18 and unlocking 5 more.

Dos neek ta tunk bantha poodoo.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun racing game
First off, I love racing games. They are fun, you need to think quickly at times, you can play with more than one player (usually), and those "winner by a nose" finishes make it all worth it.

I get this all from this game.I've really enjoyed playing this game and building up my character while trying to unlock other characters to play with. Each course is imaginative and has its own sets of challenges.

My only problem is that it can get easy really quickly.I wish there were a way to download courses off the Internet or an ability to create your own.

But in the end, if you like racing games I would highly recommend this one!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars color me green
why is it capcom never makes the hulk green he is always the wrong color on capcom games. thegame is fun animation good just the hulk's color is wrongthey either turn him pink or grey. good tagteam work ,i like the turbo and wolverine looks like the comicbook style not some asian styled version of wolverine. works well on the vibration sound is distorted but otherwise a fun game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
I've been a big fan of the Street Fighter series since its outset. And to be quite honest, playing Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter only reminds me of how great the series used to be. Sure, the game is mildly entertaining, but without the true tag team gameplay that the arcade version of the game had, it comes off as just another Street Fighter game with Marvel characters. The character roster totals out at 17, with nine from the Street Fighter universe and eight from Marvel. There are five modes of play including battle, versus, training, hero battle, and crossover. Battle and versus are your typical one- and two-player fighting game modes. Hero Battle is an endurance mode that separates the groups to see which has the stronger stable of fighters. Nothing special here. Crossover mode, however, is at least somewhat interesting. You see, in the original version of MSH vs. SF you could pick two fighters whom you could switch between at any time during the fight. This tag team style of fighting was first featured in the arcade version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter but couldn't make it into the PlayStation port due to the technical limitations of the PlayStation. Sadly, the tag team aspect of MSH vs. SF was also excluded for the same reason. Sure, you can still pick two characters, but you can only play as one of them. The second character only comes into play when you execute a team combo or team counter. Crossover mode tries to bring the game's main selling point home. This mode allows you to pick two characters, then the computer uses the same characters you picked. This limits the amount of information the PlayStation has to handle to two characters instead of four. If you are victorious in this battle, the computer swaps one of the characters each of you have for another. This is done so that you aren't playing with and against the same two characters each fight. It gives you the tag team experience of the arcade, but having to deal with the rotating character thing and having to fight mirror images of yourself is extremely weak. Visually, MSH vs. SF looks good. But when you compare it with its arcade counterpart, it simply fails. The colors aren't nearly as vibrant, and the game suffers from quite a bit of slowdown. It still comes across better than the PlayStation version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter, though, because not nearly as much animation was cut out. This is a major plus, since frames of animation not only affect the game's appearance but timing and gameplay as well.On the gameplay side, Street Fighter fans will definitely feel the typical Street Fighter gameplay. But in the end, it's all a question of how starved you are for another Street Fighter game. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is all about the tag team mode, and with the overall exclusion of this mode, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is just another Street Fighter game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great game, but graphics sort of sucks
The game is cool, but when you compare it to the arcade version, it's simply fails in comparision. The fighting and the hyper combos on their are tight and improved. Like Wolverine's Weapon X combo does more damage than on XvSF. If there are any availiable, comp this game cause it's hard as hell if you're a big Akuma fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best fighting game ever (Shin Akuma)
The game is perfect in all ways.
The characters are good specialy Akuma. The music is the best I ever heard before. The combos are extremely Cool and hyper. The graphs are great in all ways.IS THE BEST FIGHTING GAME EVER!

You Will Loved More If You Are A AKUMA Fan!

It a secret!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
WELL I CAN SAY THAT THIS GAME IS AWESOME IN A WAY THAT YOU WONT HAVE TO DEPEND TOO MUCH ON THE CHARACTER'S HYPER COMBO TO WIN A MATCH.(UNLIKE MARVEL VS CAPCOM IN MY OPINION.)AND THIS WILL BRING YOU TO A LENGTHY,BUT EXCITING MATCHES(WITH A WORTHY OPPONENT,THOUGH..)AND GOING UP AGAINST CYBER AKUMA IS MORE CHALLENGING THAN FACING ONSLAUGHT.THIS IS A MUST IF YOU'RE A STREET FIGHTER FAN,OR A MARVEL SUPER HEROES FOLLOWER.WHATEVER... ... Originally released in 1998, the PC version ofHalf-Life changedfirst-person shooters forever by proving that a compelling story can be told withinthe genre. Prior to the game's release, first-person shooters were mindlessaction games. Half-Life, while containing its fair share of action, alsocontained plenty of exploration, puzzle, and story elements. Now released as aPlayStation2 game, Half-Life has never looked or played better. Thisversion contains the outstanding single-player story mode, as well as a few newones. While the new additions aren't so great, the story mode is one of the bestescapades available on the PS2.

The game follows the adventures of Gordon Freeman, a young research associate atthe Black Mesa Federal Research Facility. A typical day at the office goescompletely awry as numerous alien life forms invade the facility. The fate ofthe facility, and quite possibly the world, is in the hands of an unlikely hero.

The graphics here trump the original's (understandable, as more than three yearshave passed). The character models have four times as many polygons, as well assmoother textures and animations. The sound is also very good, with some of thefunniest voice acting yet heard in a game. Of course, the single-player gameplayis excellent, thanks to some very well-developed enemy artificial intelligence.

Unfortunately, the new modes aren't nearly as brilliant. Decay, the newcooperative mode, seems like an afterthought and pales in comparison to thecooperative modes in Perfect Dark and Halo. Deathmatches onlysupport two players, which is incredibly lame considering many PS2 first-personshooters support four. Despite these flawed modes, the single-player story is sosuperb that it totally warrants a purchase. --Raymond M. Padilla

Pros:

  • Greatly improved graphics from the original
  • Excellent storytelling, especially for the genre
  • Strong enemy artificial intelligence
Cons:
  • Cooperative mode is dull
  • Deathmatch only supports 2 players

2-0 out of 5 stars Dont buy games with steam activation!
The hype gets to everyone, then you just go with the status

quo and not dare post a realistic review so that your friends

or the herd of human sheep look at you like you are a moron.

The game is fun, I have to say. Some of the gameplay though at

times is repetitive, but most of it is innovative/entertaining.

The graphics are NOT the best. Painkiller and Doom 3

deserve that title.

The price is not too hefty for the collectors, you are getting

the old half life, half life 2 and counter strike as well as a

useless booklet and a lame tshirt which I threw away after

the steam activation nightmare.

Those are the good points.

Here are the bad:

The steam activation process is one of the most frustrating

experiences encountered in my life.

It makes microsoft and symantec product activation literally

walks on the beach with your woman compared to the

nightmare that the Steam process is.

You need to be online in order to activate and download

unknown files off their server in order to authenticate.

This can, if you are lucky be done in 30-60 minutes and up to

several hours or days depending on their server.

I can understand Valve's concern over illegal copying, and all

the crackers, hackers, and other useless swine are to blame

for our misery.

I do not copy games or any software

but still must pay for the crimes of others.

I want to put a game in my computer and play it not having to

go through a frustrating activation and endless

verification downloads that do not always work.

This is my first and last game with the steam activation that

I buy. I dont care how good of a game it is, it is not worth it

if you cant play it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
As stated before this game is dated by a few years and huge years in game development. I took that into consideration while thinking of how many stars this game should get. The graphics while not great (by todays standards) are really very good and the intensity factor is huge. The controls are very sensitive and if you loose your cool under pressure you may find yourself missing your target due to over or under aiming, but hey its better than sloppy inconsistent controls. All in all i would rate this game right up there with the much loved Halo. The graphics arnt as good but the story and gameplay is and as a sci-fi fan i find this game very hard to put down. Lots of mutants and monsters to kill and if your low on ammo you might even wack a guard and steal his.....just a thought. Enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars The great game of Half Life
The game half life is about a person who has a job in a lab and somehow makes a tunnel that lets aliens come to earth. When your playing, you jump. You laugh. And in certain parts your even stunned. The game is in my top ten list for best shooting games. It's really fun. I mean who doesn't like killing an alein with a crowbar? Or blowing one up? If I was you this would be one game to buy. Along with the second one too. It's got killing, sneaking, strategy, and you can even ambush people. If you like sci-fi games and like to kill this is certainly for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you like half-life
If you tried half-life for PS2 and liked it, you should also get a PC and try the other great mods from the game! they are linked with the same story, but a different point of view from other characters you meet in the half-life game.
oppossing force:
You kno half-life and gordon freeman being the main character? and how aliens and U.S. marine troops are out to get him? We'll in this game, you get to be one of the marine troops, and somehow gets lost from your squad, and in your own adventure! ( in some cases, you see gordoon freeman himself doing the things like you've done in half-life)
blueshift:
become one of the security gaurds in black mesa!

5-0 out of 5 stars Let me say something about the bad reviews
everyone has an own opinion, but i feel like i should counter some things, so use this as a guidline of buying this game.

+The most creative and best storyline i have ever seen. The leve designs are amazing, and the story is ingenius, you will never find a game as great as this one in year. The level designs for examples, have many obstacles like "hmmm, what do i do now, how would i pass this without getting killed.." and many booby-traps i must add. (the booby traps are very surprising and frightening, ex. your walking in a room and suddenly the lights turn off, and you passout, and finding yourself after dumped in a garbage dump which is about to crush you) note: read the other reviews to see a brief summary of the plot.

+A exceptionally hard game! I played on the PC version (i find using the mouse easier) and I put on Easy Mode, and i thought, w/e it will be a piece of cake. well, as you go farthur, there will be more enemies, alien, or human. If your looking for a challenge, here it is! (although maybe they made it easier on the PS2 version)

Things that you must consider:

+THIS GAME IS about 6 years old! (1998) So don't expect shiny new graphics like Halo or Max Payne. In my opinion, a game is not great/fun by the looks of the cover, graphics, and how many weapons you have, a game is fun because of a great story and gameplay! (like the old mario games, its fun, but old.) Don't expect fancy animations, or anything, although i must add that the sound (not soundtrack) in this game is good. Ive heard that this game influenced many of the *new shiny games with intense graphics* out there today.

If you want to try it out, you can rent it first, but you definetely won't beat it before the due date :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best HM game yet!
This was the BEST HM game I'd ever played! You can take care of animals, grow tons of crops, and own more than one horse! You can even marry your partner, but the game ends after you do if you're a girl. But don't worry- you don't have to get married!Overall, the best game you could ever own!

5-0 out of 5 stars totally awsome natsume is genious!!!!!!!!!!!
this game is awsome i got it 4 christmas and it it totally rad ive played FMT but i threw it away because of harvest goddes false church curses but the gamecube version was fun but i didnt have anything left to buy this one is the bomb if your lucky to get your hands on one [...] you will have loads of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow! The hardest (but still good) HM yet!
I've been a big fan of the Harvest Moon series all along. But when I came across a used cartridge of this game, I just had to buy it. Harvest Moon is what I would cal; "A whole other door into RPG fun". The idea of raising a farm sounds stupid, but once you play this game- you will be hooked.

Graphics (4/5) If you have played HM2, you'll notice a similarity in the graphics. They are still the same, with small details within the weeds, stones, etc. A good option for this game is that you can choose the farmer's clothes... suiting to your liking of the graphics. I find this system really neat! Overall, the graphics are the standard ones, but I love changing the colors of the outfits!

Controls: (4/5)- Alright, since this is a GBC game, the controls are simple simple simple. Hold B to run, and A to use tools. Its that easy to control your farmer! The only thing is that choosing the tools involves pressing select, then pressing A, then pressing select over the tool you want, then pressing B, and press select to close the menu. Also, you have to hold B and a direction to run, which gets your finger hurting and can damage your GBC/GBA in minutes.

Gameplay (5/5) I find the gameplay in this game just terrific! Farming may not sound so great, right? But it is amazingly addicting!

Also, this game has a big change from the other gameboy games. To start, you can get married to your partner who you were trying to help out. Also, there is a totally different island to go on that is for shopping, watching movies, etc. There are a number of cutscenes, and I like the fact that they mean something- rather than just to have fun.

Crops are another feature that differs from the other games. In HM3GBC , you have a shovel in which you can dig a pond and spring up. You can use this shovel to make waterways in your fields so you can plant the one of a kind crop- rice.

Now animals take the spotlight. A new animal is avalible in this game- a horse. But not just one, but eight of them you can own. This game also offers a unique breeding system. Instead of a miracle potion, you have to put two opposing gendered animals in this corner of your barn. Basically, breeding is free and efficiant to raising a successful farm.

Finally, instead of slowly upgrading your house and starting with furniture, it is the other way around. You buy furniture for a huge house... but at a costly price. In this game, you gotta work hard to succeed, or else you will fail.

Replayability- (3/5) Most Harvest Moon games have great replay value. However, this game wouldnt have what I consider "hours of replay". There are tons of upgrades for your house and everything, but once you get all of the upgrades, the idea of farming is useless. What does the money go to? Buying seeds. Where do the seeds go? In the bin to make a profit. When you have everything, though, what is the use of a profit.

Overall-(4/5) Overall this game is worth every penny. With over 50 new features, this game is a total blast. I would highly recommend this for long car trips, as the gameplay lasts for 30+ hours. If you ever see this game on amazon or at another retailor, pick it up. This game is VERY VERY rare and hard to find nowadays, as very few copies were made. For those of you who haven't played the series, and are looking for a challenge, get this game for sure!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good!
Harvest Moon one had a failure which rested in the tool system. Sometimes you would lose your tools and couldn't get them back. Harvest Moon 2 was okay but I never got into it that much.

This game is fantastic and blows away the other two. You now can raise 32 animals at a time. 8 cows, 8 horses, 8 chickes, and 8 sheep. If you are the girl your job is to do the animals while the boy works, or, if your the boy, you till the soil while the girl does the animal stuff. You can also do some minigames and build relationships with people in town.

There are problems with this game. The major one is that you need to build up your relationship with the girl or the boy(depending on the one you are) to have them do work. I'm the boy right now and the girl doesn't do much unless you give her items that you harvest. Once you do give more she will become much better but at first she is rather useless. I tried the girl and the same thing happens. The boy is too lazy to clear the field. He removes basically a rock and gives up. In time he gets better but it takes exactly that, time.

This is a good game. It gets fun and you have plenty of years to accomplish your goals. 5 stars!

3-0 out of 5 stars Harvest Moon 3
Harvest Moon 3 is the bomb game! You have to befriend the people inntown, and they don't always say the same thing OVER and OVER again. The only thing is you have to get your own boat if you want to go to the market.Things can get kind of boring, but the events are fun!Plus you don't have to build the barns and you can have up to I think 8 animals of each! I'm really 13, but this game is for ALL ages! The best game so far for Harvest Moon is Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.
Hope you have fun with yours because I lost mine,

The Seven Sisters high school is the setting for a series of gruesomemurders, and it's up Maya Amano, a cub reporter for popular teen magazineCoolest, to get to the bottom of the murders. Yes, in the spirit ofScooby-Doo and many afterschool specials, when the police fail, it's timeto call in the high schoolers!

Seriously, though, Persona 2 is an interesting title. It is the sequel toa popular import with a story that is, for the most part, involving. Even intheir small sprite form, the anime characters in the game are very well done andblend nicely with the gaming environments. The character movements are a bitjerky, but it's still better than most role-playing games.

Unfortunately, the game's slow-moving story line and somewhat tedious characterinteraction ruin the game's early momentum. Things get back on track later inthe game--but obviously only for those gamers who have stayed on through the dryspots. Patient players are rewarded with 80 different persona summons, orspells, that can be unlocked throughout the game. You can also chat with themonsters, which is fun at first but grows tiresome. Also, the game'sstraightforward battle system lacks the strategic elements found in other gamesof this genre.

Perhaps Persona 2's most interesting gameplay element is the rumorsystem, which allows you to gossip about other characters in the game. Aproperly spread rumor can trigger in-game events and create whole new storyarcs. This adds considerable replay value and most RPGers should appreciate thisto no end. --Todd Mowatt

Pros:

  • Great dialogue
  • Eerie music sets appropriate tone for the game
  • Rumor system lets you affect the game's story
Cons:
  • Talking to enemies gets very repetitive
  • Too-simple combat scheme
  • Poor pacing in the game's middle

5-0 out of 5 stars Very fun and challenging...
Persona 2 is another rare collectible rpg for playstation. A deep expansive battle summoning system is the core to this game. The setting is the modern day which is a nice change from the normal villages, blacksmiths, and potions of most rpgs. Solid graphics, great storyline, and challenging enemies makes this a well put together game. I would love to see a part three but its been awhile so perhaps we are out of luck. I reccomend this game for any rpg fan cause its just plan fun and interesting and thats what rpgs are all about, right?

5-0 out of 5 stars A beauty of the Persona series
I played the original Persona and loved it. When I heard about a second one, I had to get it. Of course, many know there are three Persona games in the Shin Megami Tensei series:

Revelations: Persona
Persona 2 Innocent Sin (Batsu in Japan)
Persona 2 Eternal Punishment

Innocent Sin was never released here due to its very questionable content, but only those who played that one will know fully what's going on in Eternal Punishment. On the other hand, it's not difficult to comprehend what's going on in this story (but it can be if you don't pay attention to every single detail). The plus side is that if you played Revelations, then you'll get a real treat in this game. I know I did.

In any case, this Persona outclasses Revelations in quite a few things. The mighty Persona return to supply your characters with magical attacks against demons. However, they have improved on a few things. First, you don't have to have the Persona's exact level to equip it like in Revelations. You just have to be in range of the Persona's level. Second, the fusion spell system, the game's biggest battle highlight, makes combat a little less painful. By combining certain spells and elements to form powerful big magic, you can clear the screen of enemies in nothing flat. An even nicer bonus is that when you defeat monsters using fusion spells, there's a chance your Persona may mutate, giving it some kind of bonus such as two learning levels gained, a parameter boost, its hidden spell gets unlocked or the chance of turning into a completely new Persona. You can further customize Persona in the infamous Velvet Room, a place familiar to all Persona fans. You can add specific spells and even increase the parameters of a Persona upon its creation using magic cards before the process. Third, the battles are a bit more smooth flowing since range does not matter anymore. In the original, your members were limited to only certain actions depending on where they stood. Now, your party and the monsters jump all over a seemingly endless terrain. You can fight monsters with weapons or Persona, as well as negotiate with them using not only one person but as many as three people, making for entertaining compromises. Also, you can switch Persona if you're carrying extra ones without wasting turns, thereby allowing you access to several fusion spells at any given time. And even better, you can set the game to auto battle with specific orders so they can build Persona levels without you having to cycle through the commands over and over again (in the meantime, you can go read a book or get a snack).

Now on to what makes this Persona much greater in difficulty than Revelations. First, the dungeons. The many dungeons in this Persona become exceedingly huge and confusing after the first dungeon. Twists and turns galore (along with time limits in some of them and constant combat) can drive many RPG veterans crazy. Many dungeons take patience to finish, and there's even a feature where an Arab gentleman asks you to map the current dungeon on your list. If you can bearably map it all out, bring him the finished product and he'll reward you with items that can help you out in the Velvet Room. Second, many boss battles get very tough and sometimes impossible if you don't prepare properly. You need levels, lots of items, decent weapons and Persona with a variety of magic to win most of the boss battles with everyone intact. Since you have five people to prep, this gets time-consuming and expensive.

A nice side feature of this Persona is the rumor system. Spreading rumors to get certain monsters to appear, alter a dungeon's appearance or get a store to sell certain things it never did before are just some of the neat rumors you can spread. You can even make new Persona available when no other way is possible to get them.

The characters, story and music are excellent. Persona 2 stars the older characters from Innocent Sin as the heroes. Also, two of the many high school heroes from the first Persona can join your team, bringing back fond memories of that game. Many of them are actually seen and mentioned in this one, so it's a real treat for Persona fans. The story is only complex if you haven't played Batsu (which many of us haven't) but you don't need to play Batsu to comprehend it. There are lot of main points to keep an eye on, so watch for them. The music rules in every Shin Megami game. It mostly draws on the pool of techno, heavy metal and rock, mostly due to the fact that the game takes place in present day Japan, not a fantasy realm. This keeps the feeling that you're playing a "real world" game.

All and all, yet another great PS1 RPG and a reason to keep your fondness for the series strong. The game includes a very difficult extra dungeon that I myself have never finished because of the extreme length and monster madness. Don't let that stop you from trying. The end is a real surprise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly, my favorite RPG.
This is truly on of the greatest RPG's on a console. It has a modern setting, dark story, and truly challenging combat. Although the 'monster collection' aspect may turn off some. The endless mazes (although automapping is some help) do make the game a little tedious, as do the endless character voicings. But the beautiful interactions between characters (even at the end, I was stumped with regards as to who would pair up), the difficult combat that really requires strategy, and the huge amount of 'essential' items to collect make this one a must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than most RPGs
Let's see. an RPG where you can have modern weapons, bribe and haggle with monsters to have them leave you alone, and have the rumors you spread change the course of the game to make more equipment available, more monsters and challenges to face, and make items cheaper, well you can't really say this game is bad. Sure, the graphics arent the best, but hey, its got a gritty quality that murder stories sorta work with. And it has plenty of side jokes here and there to make things even more fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Game
Persona 2 seems to revisit events that happened in Persona. Though and I didn't have the opportunity to play the first one, Persona 2 is an intriguing and complex game to play and new players are brought up to speed as the story and game unfolds....

Everything was going great for Maya Amano, an up and coming reporter for a teen magazine, until she meets Tatsuya Suou...

She becomes involved in the investigation of some murders at the Seven Sisters High School. These murders are said to be linked to a bizarre ritual, called the "Joker's Curse." A demon is called upon to grant you your wishes, however, it is said that whoever calls him is cursed to becomes a "Joker" as well.

As Maya investigates further, she is led down a path of darkness that will ultimately lead her to the truth about the twisted world called Persona.

Players have to follow a series of rumors to find out the truth and gain new allies to help combat the growing Joker menace. There are side quests to do, and as the plot deepens so does the stories around each ally where surprises and hidden pasts are revealed.

The animation sequences are beautifully rendered and add to the flow of the game. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Buffy is greater than ever!
This game is great! It has great moves and art, but the game is short and the comics could use a tad bit more work. Otherwise, this game is fantastic. I played it with my friend for only ten minutes when he was not interested in Buffy, but now he has 5 seasons on DVD! I guess this game really is magic! Buy it today! PS: It'll be worth every penny!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Being a huge Buffy fan, I was rather excited when I found out about this game. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

On the plus side, the storyline is very Buffy-esque and the dialogue in the comic book style cutscenes fits the characters perfectly. Therefore, playing through the game and watching the story unfold is sort of like seeing an episode of the show play out..albeit through poorly drawn comic book pages.

Unfortunately, the game itself is quite bad. The backgrounds are about par for Gameboy, but the character graphics are rather blocky. The gameplay is repetitive and mind-numbingly simple. Here's how things play out: You walk a bit on the screen. A vampire shows up. You trip and/or hit said vampire so he/she falls down. Walk over to the vampire on the ground and stake him/her. Repeat one or two dozen times. Go to the next level. Start the process over again. Some vampires are a little more powerful or difficult, but the technique basically remains the same. The first (and only) time I played the game, I beat it without dying once. I think it took less than an hour.

Like I said, Buffy fans might still enjoy reading through the storyline, but don't expect much (if anything) from the gameplay, which offers maybe a few minutes of mindless fun before becoming tedious. I'd recommend a rental at most since, in all likelihood, it'll last about an hour and you'll never play it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buffy is Awesome
Ok so I am a Buffy fan so I love this game. It's like one of those old martial arts games except it has a storyline. So basically you are watching a Buffy episode except your the one who is kicking butt. The game lets you know what buttons to push to do certain moves and it also gives you a password every time you complete a level, which is cool for me since I am constantly dying on the fourth level. I hope this helps you out and I hope you love it as much as I do!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I thought this was a really great game, but not exactly what I expected. I thought that there would be more of a challenge to kille the vampires/demons, but it was all very easy. You just have to kick and punch them a few times, then stick your stake into them and continue. It was a very fun game, and I would recommend it to any Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans or Tomb Raider fans.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Bit Let Down....But It Was All Fun
I must admit, the game was kind of a letdown. You go through similar Sunnyale settings and kill differently dressed vampires. It was kind of interesting to see what the vampire would be dressed like next, and some had more "powers" than others. There are two exceptions to the vampires. There were monsters that seemed to be covered in mud of some sort, and at the end, you fight a very big demon. He's the final boss, but it only took one stake to get him. And originally, stakes don't kill demons, but they kept it simple.

The controls were kind of difficult, but as the game went along, you got used to it. You would have to get the vampire on the ground, kneel down, and then stake him. But you have to be at a certain point near them to where you can stake them. I found it easy to get them cornered in one side of the screen, then take them down and stake them.

The graphics are what you would expect from Gameboy Color. Nothing extravagant. The backgrounds are pretty nice though, and it was great to see the Hyena exhibit -- complete with red glowing eyes -- in the Sunnydale Zoo.The storyline is this: Ethan Rayne (A well-known villain in Sunnydale) has returned to Sunnydale to retrieve The Book of Ancients. A very powerful book that will be used -- by Ethan -- to open the Hellmouth. The book is only known by vampire covens from around the world (Which explains the differently dressed vampires) which must be present at the opening of the Hellmouth.

The characters from Buffy in the game were Buffy (of course), Giles, Willow, Xander, and Anya. Although the Initiative is one of the levels, Riley was nowhere to be seen. There are also guest appearances by Cordelia and Angel.

All in all, the game could've been more difficult and took me longer to play. But you do get hooked on trying to kill the Ninja Vamps...or the European Top Hat Vamps...or the Egyptian Lady Vamps...or the... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Dancing is Fine, but where did they get these songs?
None of the songs used in this album were popular, recognizable Disney songs. They were all from Disney, but they were all rather obscur.I was majorly disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!
Of the two DDR game versions I own, Konamix and Disney, I definitely prefer Disney.I don't know what people are talking about when they review Disney as being "too easy"!Despite having spent much more time on the Disney version, I consistently have a harder time passing the 5-star beats such as "Mr. Bassman" and, surprisingly "It's a Small World, hardcore" in Regular Mode than I do any of the songs in Konamix on Maniac level. There ARE very easy songs on Disney, but even a lvl 1 becomes more difficult in Trick Mode, and "Maniac" can't be unlocked till you defeat ALL the Regular and Trick modes (a very difficult task).

You will find a challenge with the blazing speed (twice as fast as many songs in Maniac level of "Konamix") and difficult strings combos of Trick Mode. You will also find a beginner level of fun with the lower level songs such as "Mickey Mouse March" and the 9-step "Lesson" series to help a beginner get into the game (although a bit boring if you have played DDR at all before).

Also, there are quite a few "non-Disney" songs in the mix, but they are often good in their own right (several popular Oldies such as "Let's Twist Again" and "Mr. Bassman", as well as some favorites from other mixes such as "Midnight Blaze").

Also, the 2d-sprites in the background are less sophisticated than in other mixes, but I actually prefer this -- they are MUCH less distracting and I don't screw up a 100 perfect combo when a flash of light passing behind the arrows takes me by surprise.

All in all I highly recommend this for *all* DDR fans.. and especially those who are looking for a change of pace from the typical techno/trance genre of music that is featured in the other mixes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but really easy.
Sometimes I get a strong desire to play this, but it passes after about half an hour because there aren't many songs on this mix to begin with, and that leaves even fewer songs I really like.I have to say though, the soundtrack (Japanese release) is amazing, on it's own.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As Other US Versions
While there may be the dual appeal for disney and Dance Dance Revolution fans, th truth is that this game is a sub par Dance Dance Revoultion wanna be.
Out for the box this game offers less than 20 songs, about 2/3rds are disney songs remixed to an annoying Eurobeat that gets old FAST.The other 1/3 of the songs are from other DDR mixes. In other words there are no original songs. Also unlike the other versions of DDR the characters DO NOT DANCE, and unlike the other DDR verions the backgrounds are not that of 3D dancing but 2D sprites. The sprites are not exciting either, there movements are relagated to two or three motions looped again and again until the song ends, that are move distacting then anything.

Often with Disney games in an attempt to make the game "easier" for a young audience the developers often manage to make it HARD.
Speed of the songs is faster then most songs on the DDR and DDR Konamix games. Making them hard for the beginner. To make up for this the letter grade system is VERY kind. But what is the piont of getting a B grade but missing more than 20 steps? Silly

In short:

Pros:
Disney Game
Dancing game
Good for "chubby" or "porky" youths

Con:
Graphics (the use of non dancing 2D sprites)
Sub par Music Selection
Limited Number of songs
Too difficult for true begginers
Boring songs
Limited Modes (no beginner or edit modes)

Thats why if gets on two stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars a sweet game
this game is absoultly phoneomeal(or however u spell it) this is a must have it's a good game and doesn't take extreme experience to beat. but just cuz it's not hard doesn't mean it's not good.I strongly recomend this game, if u dont like it there's not gonna be many games u will like

4-0 out of 5 stars Young Girl Defeats Evil Empire
Once upon a time in a land so far away that character names are nothing like they are today, the Seru came to the world of Legaia.Man discovered that he could use these benevolent creatures to wield tremendous powers. All was well.Or as well as it could be in a world where war was a commonplace and, sooner or later, someone figured out how to pervert the power of the Seru and turn them to evil. Those who wore the Seru became degenerate, and the world cowered before the onslaught of the mist.

Of course, the powers that write games couldn't leave an opportunity like this alone, and our heroes, Vahn the young hunter, Gala the monk, and Noa, an eleven year old girl with the power of 10 were packed off to end the mist, wearing special symbionts, the Ra-Seru.Their first task, to restore the great trees of the world.

This is a classic PS-One RPG.Not one of the greatest, but with enough play in it to keep your interest for the 40 to 60 hours it takes to play. The story line is straightforward - the long story arc is broken into a set of subquests, either the restoration of a tree or the destruction of a mist generator. The world is large, and you will spend a lot of time walking about in perpetual battle until faster modes of tranportation become available.

The battle system is based on combination attacks which can be layered together in increasing power.Magic is available via the Ra-Seru, who can absorb powers when certain foes are beaten.Like many systems, fighting can be as complex as you might like, but the truth is that you will find certain patterns that work consistently and those are what you will use. This is a flaw in most RPG's - power always trumps subtlety.

The game's only glaring flaw is that it is entirely too much a money game. You start out poor and stay that way, since no matter how many you kill, your funds always lag the prices until late in the game, when a variety of sub-games become available to generate cash and prizes. There is something vaguely unsatisfying about putting saving the world on hold in order to go 30 round in a boxing ring to get the cash for that nifty magic grail. Now every RPG has this problem, but in Legaia it is worse than usual.

My other gripe is the characters.Vahn and Gala are extremely two dimensional (Gala has a slight sense of humor).Noa, who gets most of the story development time, is a hyperactive, bloodthirsty eleven-year-old girl who is perpetually waving her arms and giving orders. She is also a stone killer. She may get my prize as the silliest hero to grace the Playstation.

Graphics are decent for the game's era, but music is a washout. This is a decent game, with fairly enjoyable play, but don't expect Final Fantasy level quality. If you like RPG's as a genre, then you will find the game entertaining for many hours.

Editorial Review

If you can't experience Civilization II--one of the best computer strategy games of all time--on a Mac or PC, this faithful PlayStation adaptation is the next-best thing. Gameplay is turn-based and takes place on a world map that's broken down into an octagonal grid, with players controlling a civilization from its inception in 4000 B.C. all the way through A.D. 2020. You "win" the game by either conquering the world or being the first civilization to successfully colonize space; how you go about this--in terms of the social, economic, and political strategies involved--is entirely up to you. This freedom in decision-making, along with a good amount of game options and the fact that the "world" is randomly generated each time you begin a game, adds extremely high replay value.

While Civilization II has been slightly pared down and doesn't look as good as it does on a computer--the graphics here are muddy, and text can be hard to read--the customized PlayStation control interface works surprisingly well. (Keyboard and mouse controls generally don't translate well to the PlayStation controller, to put it mildly.) --Joe Hon

4-0 out of 5 stars strategy pure and simple...
If your looking for a strategy game tht challenges you... this is it. Its not pretty to look at, terrible music, and this game takes a long time to beat at its maximum level. I found it challenging and my competitive nature would not allow me to let go until i figured it out. However this is number crunching at its highest point. Its easy to go thru the menues but difficult to master the systems. This game is only for strategy freak like me who love a challenge if your looking for action, graphics, or storyline dont bother. The price is right though, but Romance of the three kingdoms, nectaris, or command @ conquer, or even panzer or allied general have a little more to offer.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Model of How the World Works
Civilization II is a decided improvement over Civilization I, already an outstanding game. Civ II features a number of new, improved, and snazzier units. It is also "equal opportunity," insofar as each civilization can have either a male and female ruler (although the latter is sometimes the wife of some noted male ruler), as well as female civilian units, engineers and spies, that appear in midgame and are twice as efficient as their ancient male counterparts.

I prefer to play on the "real world" map because it gives insights into the historical forces that shaped civilizations. For instance, the Mongols and the Russians are hostile, aggressive, powers because they were landlocked, resource (read arms) -rich, food- and trade- poor countries. England and Japan compensate with expansionist tendencies for their starts on small islands. Meanwhile the Americans are a friendly people (except possibly against the Aztecs and/or Sioux) because they were blessed with an ideal combination of trade, resources, and food, as well as a "splendid isolation."

The diplomacy function, which was the weak link of Civilization I, has been vastly improved in Civilization II. For instance, human players are penalized in terms of "reputation" for breaking peace treaties. And the computer players are great at forming alliances against the strongest country in the world (or on a continent) to prevent one civilization from running away with the show and conquering the entire planet. The alliance option is usually available to the human player too. "Peace" now forces civilizations to withdraw troops from each others' territories, while the "no war" state of Civilization I is called a ceasefire.

The combat function has been upgraded using protocols from other war games. Battles now have multiple rounds, typically resulting in one "killed" and one wounded unit, more nearly reflecting relative strengths, instead of "all or nothing" fights that do give weak, ancient, phalanxes a one chance in five or ten of destroying modern armored or battleship units.

There are seven new wonders, mostly representing the endowments of famous people in history (Leonardo's Workshop, Sun Tzu's War Academy), and the old wonders have been revamped slightly, usually by making them more or less powerful. (Free government changes aren't allowed until midgame after the discovery of Democracy and building of the Statue of Liberty, while the pyramids provide a granary in each city.) These add dimension and complexity to an already fascinating game.

4-0 out of 5 stars this game is fun but better on the computure
this game was a lot clunkier then the computure version and you where unable to get actual world maps or scenarios it also took up almost an entire memory card but if you would rather play a game on PS then PC then this is the game for you

4-0 out of 5 stars Clumsier than the PC version
A fairly faithful adaptation of the classic computer game.Players start the game as one of a number of civilizations and attempt to grow and survive until they have wiped out the other civilizations or colonized another planet.

Players build new settlements and then build different buildings and military units to help their civilization grow.Combat, diplomacy, and civil engineering all combine for fascinating gameplay.

My only real problem with the console conversion is that the main graphics are rather clumsy looking while most of the incidental graphics are taken straight from the original game. The game controls are also clumsier than they need to be.Obviously a game controller is more limited than a full keyboard, but I don't think the controller is used to full advantage. The controls mean that the length of a game is longer than in the PC version.

Although a little slower and clumsier than the original version, this is still an enthralling game with a very high level of replayability.

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive
This game is simple and the graphics are a little clunky, but it is addictive. For hours and hours, you get caught up building your civilization and pummeling civilizations around you. ... Read more

I don't see all the hype in this portable gaming device. The games graphics are so terrible (So is Game Boy Advance). The only good Nintendo graphics is the brand new Nintendo DS which has Nintendo 64 graphics which isn't too shabby. But I really hate the Pocket and Color because it's a waste of money. Why would you get something in black and white with terrible graphics and then get one with only some colors (It's not that good) and plus the addition of bad graphics...now that's what I call a bad deal.

4-0 out of 5 stars great and fun
this isnt bad i have it and it works great i think this is better then alot of older systems like game boy or super nt but still its a good system.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok..... but not as good as ngpc.
I got this system last year and it worked fine until a month ago. then the sound blew out. Also the graphics on many games suck. Still it's a hardysystem and I would recommend buying it if you like a classic look in color, but if you want something with good graphics, nice small comfortable size, and a motherload of great games, buy an NGCP(neogeo pocket color).

5-0 out of 5 stars Game Boy Color Console in Atomic Purple
is very good and easy use

3-0 out of 5 stars ITS OK BUT NOT THE BEST
the gameboy is not as good as it sounds first you can buy it cheeper other places, and there is not much things you can buy for it,& the games get boring quickly, the good things are that you can buy a radio, light rechargeable batteries,& charger for under $20 if you look otherwise it is good for starters. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars It's a RIPOFF!!!!!!!
This game is a ripoff of the MYST games. From the MYSTerious to just the overall game, you're much better getting the phenomenal MYST games. Honestly, don't spend your money on something that's only a small fraction equal to the beauty of MYST, Riven, Exile (well, MYST and Riven beat Exile...), or Uru.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mysterious Dud!
I have never written a review before but this game is so bad that I wanted to warn people! I am a college graduate and have played a great many adventure games. If you are not a math and game playing geek, I suggest you read the cheat sheets at Gameboomers. Com to see what you will be getting yourself into before you invest anything in Mysterious Journey 2. The puzzles are continuous and so convoluted that you will spend hours and hours doing nothing but trial and error. There is nothing clever or original about any puzzle in this game. The good graphics are wasted. The characters are at best stupid and the story line is mediocre. By the way, if you do not understand base numbers, you probably will not understand even the cheat sheet. If you loved Syberia, than you will be very disapointed with this dud.

3-0 out of 5 stars Puzzles Are Fun but not Integrated
A much better game than the original Schizm (at least on CD-ROM, I've heard the DVD version was great).Puzzles are challenging, but aren't very well integrated into the game. The storyline is pathetic considering it was written by a "real" science fiction author!Graphics are good, but for some reason aren't as engaging as others in the genre.Good user-interface.As far as the voice acting, let's just say that a certain female in the end destroys anything positive I have to say about the voice acting in this game. She was absolutely the worst voice actress I have EVER heard!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars If You Have Vertigo forget this game!
I tried to play this game but quickly had to stop, as the beautiful 3d graphics also made me INCREDIBLY ill! I am very disappointed, the game looks very fun and challenging.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
After Schizm 1 I had high hopes for this game. Too bad. In my opinion, it just isn't as good. I am very disappointed.

Why? The puzzles. The story. The graphics. I could go on, but I'd just be ranting and this isn't the place for it. I just didn't like it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best racing sim... ever
I don't know why 'reviewer' J. Oglesbee goes on about F1 2002.This is a different game.

Anyway.. GP4 is simply THE best racing simulator I've ever seen or played.I don't know why people seem to have problems with the game.Admittedly you need to install the official patch to fix some of the bugs. But installation is easy.

The cars sits ON the track - it doesn't hover or float. When I first installed it, it was on my Athlon 750MHz with a GeForce 2 Ultra.Turning the detail down a bit gave me no problems, it ran well and gave a sense of SPEED.

With my latest upgrade, I've got an Athlon 2500XP-M with a GeForce FX 5900XT.The game runs beautifully with full graphic detail.

You can now buy this game in shops for around a tenner (around $15 I should think), and I highly recommend it.The only drawbacks are that they couldn't get the FIA licence to allow multiplayer over the internet (multiplayer over a LAN is possible though), and the fact that there will be no GP5.

1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy it
This was the worst Running game I have ever seen.there is NO information on how to select any controller assignments.Options to leave a practice session would not work,it only returned me to the session.the patch was no help.tech support is worthless. After about 7 hours trying to get it to work I had no more time to waste and broke the cd in half and threw it all in the trash where this game belongs!

5-0 out of 5 stars Grand Prix 4 - The best F1 Sim by a mile
This is not so much a review as a piece of advice. It's a real shame that so many people seem to have had serious trouble running this game. Up and running properly, its gameplay and graphics are breathtaking - it makes EA'S F1 series look and feel ten years old. However it seems to be only really happy running on Nvidia's Geforce 4 graphics. Next time you upgrade go for one of these, make sure you've got the latest drivers, fire-up GP4, and be amazed. If you want a full review, go to pcgamereview.com and see what I had to say there.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only thing that beats this F1 game is the car itself !!!
This game is awesome!! Accurate detail, and if you have a steering wheel with forcefeedback, you will be hooked to this game for days!! Has over 10 different views, and awesome radio and engine sounds. Some people say that it doesn't feel like your going at 200 MPH, but there is no way YOU could control the car at that speed. But if you insist, all you have to do is download the PC Patch. Has all drivers and circuits from 2001. Also has a section on F1 setups, pitstops and engines. Has video to back it up! If you are a true F1 fan, you must get this game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great potential, but has technical difficulties
I got this game a while back after having eagerly awaited it for quite some time. Unfortunately, I couldn't really start playing it right away, because the computer I had at the time seemed to have trouble running it (or so I thought). I now got myself a new computer (P4, 1GB ram, Radeon 9700, 3GHz,...), but things didn't get much better.

Both systems had trouble with the graphics. With the Radeon 9700 for instance, the pit lane (the actual road) seems to hover 2 feet above ground, making the car look as if it was a submarine in surface mode. About 1 inch of the tire (the top) sticks out of the tarmac. So does the cockpit. I am always afraid that I might go over a bump, and the road might spill in, making the car sink entirely.

Seriously: These types of graphic problems aren't much fun. There seems to be some great potential. The pit crew seems to be animated great for instance, except they are in tar up to their hips. The cars themselves look great. The scenery and the road on the other hand appears to look better in F1 2002 (and I didn't like it much even there...).

For some reason, I also never get the impression that I am driving very fast. I can do lap times comparable to the ones I drive in F1 2002, but it still seems much slower. (And no, that's not because of the submerged mode... on the main course, I am above ground... I guess it works like water skis: Once you are fast enough, you surface...).

I also had difficulties on both systems to set up my steering wheel. Things just never seem right. There is not a lot of "direct feel" for the road here. In fact, the steering input seems to be translated in some weird fashion depending on the speed the car is driving at. While I could see why this is done, it appears to be done in a backward fashion. Going out of the pits, I can just barely turn out of the garage without hitting the far wall. On the road, it is very hard to "push" through turns, because the car always seems to have enormous understeer (no matter how it is set up... unless I am plain too stupid). Well, actually, I am not sure if it really is understeer, because although one can see the front tyres turn, they do not seem to turn quite far enough. But that might just be a graphics problem. Things get really weird in reverse: I can turn the wheel fully to one side, and see the tyres at an angle, but the car goes straight back! Hu?

However, all of this might just be configuration related. I see that other people love the game, and if I could make it through a lap without that damn understeer, I think I might like it too. Perhaps my other computer was too old, and my current one is too new (DirectX 9 and all...). Try it out for yourself, but make sure you can return it if you have to... ... Read more

60. Command & Conquer Red Alert 2

Amazon.com Review

Sticking firm to the old "if it ain't broke" philosophy, WestwoodStudios conjures up memories of the original Command & Conquer gameswith Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. The game is set just a few yearsafter the events of the original C&C: Red Alert, and opens with asurprise Soviet invasion of the U.S. mainland. Playing as the startledAmericans, you must cobble togethera resistance and beat the invaders back into the sea. Playing as the Soviets, you must quickly establishcontrol of your new domain, wiping out all opposition you meet.

Red Alert 2 is very similar to the original Red Alert, withsome visual enhancements andgameplay improvements brought in from the recent Command & Conquer:Tiberian Sun game. You still lead a small group of infantry and armored units in most missionsand you still have to assemble abase of operations in order to accomplish just about anything. This timearound, however, you'll have aslew of new units to build and command in the field--most of which are prettyslick. The American PrismTank, for example, can take out numerous enemy units with a single, branchingattack. On the Soviet side,Tesla Troopers and Psychics help make ground troops a formidable asset.

Another nice addition to the game is the ability to garrison troops insidebuildings. Because much of thefighting is on city streets, it helps to give your troops some cover fromtime to time. Also, there are anumber of special buildings that provide unique advantages once occupied byengineer units. The airportallows you to call in air strikes, for example, while oil derricks provide aresource boost for your warmachine.

Multiplayer support is still the calling card of this series, and fans ofpast C&C games will not bedisappointed by Red Alert 2's multiplayer options. The basicfree-for-all mode that the originalRed Alert made famous is still intact, but the alternative multiplayermodes are the real treat. InUnholy Alliance, players get access to both American and Soviet tech trees, while the naval war variantstarts each player off on a small island. In addition, the game includesspecial cooperative campaigns.

There's no denying Red Alert 2's charm, despite the lack of a funky3-D engine and the game'sreliance on ultracheeseball video cut scenes to tell the story (Kari Wuhreror no Kari Wuhrer). For fast- paced, real-time strategy action that focuses on quick, intense firefights onAmerican soil, no other gameholds a candle to C&C: Red Alert 2. --Michael Ryan

Pros:

  • More frenetic real-time strategy in the C&C universe
  • Tons of new units and capabilities on both sides of the conflict
  • Cool U.S. settings for most missions
  • Great array of multiplayer modes
Cons:
  • Not exactly a technical leap forward
  • Video cut scenes are cheesy beyond description

5-0 out of 5 stars good game (when lots a casulteis)
played this game online against a freind i was an allied team it was fun if you pick a good map were you can have land and sea battles on it think i broke the record for most units lost(it was a 3 hour game) 5332 for both sides allies are way better than soveits because i only lost 1032 units!!!!!! (most were tanks cause the soveits have stronger armored units) naval battle is also fun cause you have to have naval superioety i had 32 destroyers 9 aegis cruisers and 11 air craft cariors a good game but AI is pridictable (ecuse all my miss spellings)

5-0 out of 5 stars Red Alert 2
This is the awsomest game! It is so much fun. It is easy to figure out, there are a lot of game options so you can set the game to your liking. The graphics are satisfactory, and if you have the right computer, the graphics will be very smooth. this game is good for beginners, or if you want a challenge, you can make it a lot harder. GREAT GAME!

5-0 out of 5 stars exellent game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game is a really exellent command & conquer
game. it is worth it; must to be bought!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Red Alert 2 Could not possible be better
Lets face it, in this world we see before our eyes, (the computer screen) the ongoing war will indeed go on between soviet and Allies, I would be surprised if; a few years from 2005 a red alert three would be released. Red Alert 2 is the perfect sequal to Red Alert, more guns, bigger bullets and a huge range of units and structures to choose from. Compare the allies to the new allies, again lets face it, in RA they were totally appalling, completely useless, they had poor defence ie: Anti tank turrets that were feeble against anything - even tanks. The Pill Box, which I gRANT you did chop up infantry nice and clean, but compare to the soviet flame tower, that thing could fry an entire army of soliders in one puff! The Soviets had Mammoth tanks, Heavy tanks, MAD tanks, tesla tanks, V2 rockets. Wereas the allies lord help them had what, light and medium tanks, artilery trucks (A kind of one-shot-dead sort of thing) rangers, and a chrono tank. thats - about -it. Now look...

Emerging from the ashes of close and some how, someway a victory the allies had a somewhat growth in there arsenal light tanks probable tossed in the waste basket and medium tanks being replaced with GRIZZLY TANKS, artillery replaced with PRISM TANKS, mwah ha ha. And of course the Weather control device. I personnaly think that the WCD came from the chrono clouds generated in the first game when you used the Chronosphere to much, its quite a possibility, the of course the chronosphere itself got upgraded alot, infantry in RA2 for the allies is enourmously better than the soviet, noe allies have dogs as well (Like they should have done in the first place.

RA2 skirmishes are to easy and predictable, even now playing against brutal enemy is generally easy, the only thing that makes a skirmish on RA2 exiting is if 4 odd nuclear warheads are smilling at you war factory with a kind of sinister grin. Incedentally A1 do build superweapons of all availiable. Unfortunatly the game creators havemade it so all computer teams, regardless of contry, construct the bases in more or less the same way, which is bleedin' boring. In RA you were at least given one heck of a challenge! Even on easy all teams fought one another (including you) sent masses and masses of tanks and men to your base, were talking here full scale attacks and they never quit they threw everything at you until they were completely whiped of the map. Ok they never built specially advanced technology but I don't think they needed to since they proove that braun is better than brain if you know what i mean. Thats the only downside to RA2. The rest...

Missions are far, far more exiting and interesting since the terrain for one thing is great, and well designed. In cities its not just a matter of blowing some base up its all about the capturing, infiltrating, rescuring, beating the clock, invading and well, blowing stuff up. My personal favourite mission is the first and last of both teams.

Naval war has also taking a major role in the waging canflict. Soviets now have a majority of ships including dreadnoughts, sea scorpions (naff) and of course transports that look like transporters not that werid thing from the first game. Allies have the bloomin mavalouse Aegis Cruiser, generally unbeatable S.T.A defence. and air craft carriers.

To sum up only skirmishes let down RA2 the rest is excellent and avengfull, also, another good thing is that ever country has a special different unit. *****

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best ever!
If you are a fan of any strategy or war games i would recomend Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. From Americans to the Russians theirs superweapons and super detailed battlefeilds. You can play as the soviets and allied forces. I think this is the bes tcomputer game of the year.
